A local bagel and breakfast hangout that had gone downhill. Terrible management, slow confusing service. By 12:30 Sunday afternoon they had run out of most kinds of bagels...really? How does a bagel place run out of bagels on a Sunday???

Great food and service at a reasonable price. Lots of places claim to deliver a true NYC deli experience but under delivery and over price. Not Bageltowne!! The owners are very friendly and care about service and quality.

Excellent bagels, coming from NJ I have a high standard for bagels and this met that. The ladies behind the counter are friendly and come drop off your food. Great little niche spot

Bageltowne Deli helps me get through my morning. Get up, walk the dog, brush the teeth, then coffee and my BagelTowne bagel. Sometimes, I have the creamy nova lox spread. It is filled with chunks of nova lox and is my favorite. Then, there is the veggie spread filled with chunks of fresh veggies. The hard part is choosing from their wide selection of bagels? All fresh and made daily, there are eight grain, marble, onion, sesame, pumpernickel and egg. I could go on and on. You could have a different kind of bagel for each day of the week. They don't stop there, because you can get breakfast sandwiches with eggs as well. The owners are the nicest people. They greet you with a smile and and are super helpful. They get you whatever you need. So, the next time you are having a tough morning, give Bageltowne Deli a try. At least your tummy will be smiling when you start your day!

I've been going to bageltown deli for years. Delicious bagels and other meats, cheeses and sides. Yum!

located in the traville village center, next to nantucket reef. there is a huge parking lot to park at and also has street parking. they have two entrances. i went to bageltowne this morning (valentine's day, saturday around 9am) and was craving lox bagel so i ordered the NOVA ON THE RUN with everything (salmon, cream cheese, capers, onion, lettuce, tomato, and cucumber) and OMG it hit the spot!!! :9 nova on the run with everything on an everything bagel and toasted (it was perfectly toasted too!)! after ordering our food my friends and i took our order number and found a nice clean table. we sat down and the food came out fairly quickly. it looked so good and it was really good. the bagel sandwich was huge! i also noticed that they had an omelet station which i think is only for the weekends and a oatmeal bar kind of thing.. i am not sure but that's what it looked like! i cannot wait to go back and try the oatmeal! :) service: everyone was so friendly and helpful! what was really cute was there were some valentine's dessert (pretzels dipped in pink chocolate or sprinkled with heart sprinkles) very very cute!!!

First time here, we have ordered one Rachel hot sandwich. Combo ($8.49). You can choose one side, the options are chips, coleslaw potato salad. The sandwich is juicy and taste yummy! This combo also come with pickle. My husband said the pickle is not sour at all, so he don't like it. The environment is comfortable, clean and nice. There are lots of seats inside and couples outdoor tables. I will come back and try more later.

This is one of my favorite spots for sandwiches. I have been going here for over 8 years now. I absolutely love their Bube and zadde sand which with the macaroni salad. Everything is fresh and they are not skimpy on the amount of meat they give you, which I love. I have gone to many places that give you this sad portion of meat where you barely taste it...but not here. Here Ty give you lots of it. Great breakfast/lunch place

They're soo good , the bagels are delicious and they're super nice here. The veggie and scallion cream cheese was sooo delicious! Definitely a hidden jem..

This place is a very convenient stop on my way down to work. The food is good at fair prices. My only issue is that there is no wifi. Having wifi may have increased my length of stay which in turn may have affected how much more I probably would have bought. Wifi... please invest in this. You are in a great neighborhood location, right next to the Universities at Shady Grove and a huge office building. You could be bringing in so much more business by providing such a nominal convenience.

I recently got a new job in Rockville on Research Blvd and was looking for a new deli-ish style place to eat at. I stumbled across Bageltowne and was pleasantly surprised. The menu was a bit overwhelming because there was honestly so many things, but everytime I go, I ask the owners what they'd recommend. I've been recommended the Rachel and Reuben which were fantastic. However, the last time I went, I was recommended a Nova on the Run with everything..I have now found my go to meal whenever I go there. Recommendations that the owners give are always on point and the food is fantastic. I tried the Nova on the Run with raisin bagel (my favorite), but will try it with other types of bagels next time.

I've never had a bad bagel sandwich at this place. I usually go around lunch time, and it's pretty empty. Bagel City in Rockville, still has, hands down, the best everything bagel, but this place has way better sandwiches. I wish the two would merge.

The rueben sandwiches here are my favorite. I went there with my girlfriend and could not even share a quarter of the sandwich with her. They are huge and such a treat. They do get a bit messy so i would recommend having a napkin handy. Love this place. My all time favorite breakfast place.

I've been here a couple of times and always have been pleased. This place is a nice long walk from my house. Their bagels and deli sandwiches are all great however highly recommend the "zadey grandpa" sandwich. It truly feels like a neighborhood deli when you are here! I will continue to take these long walks to get to this deli!

We were surprised to see that this little bagel spot wasn't packed the Sunday morning we stopped by. Either way, we weren't complaining, just surprised because of the location and nice beautiful weather. We thought for sure it'd be a busy day where we'd have to wait a bit for our breakfast bagels. The interior is nice and clean. Has a lot of spacious available seating. They also feature outdoor seating for those that wanna enjoy fresh air, or bring your furry family member. You go in line, order, pay then grab a number and the food is brought out to you. My partner ordered an everything bagel with lox and cream cheese. I wasn't feeling breakfast and decided to go with a bagel lunch sandwich - roasted turkey on whole wheat everything toasted with muenster cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, cucumber and sprouts. My sandwich was big and packed with meat. But barely any vegetables. I couldn't taste anything but turkey which might be a plus for most people, but not for me. The bagel itself was good, had a good texture but the garlic bits on the whole wheat were burnt and bitter in where the regular white everything didn't have the same issue. The only issue my partner had was that they barely gave her any cream cheese, and when she asked for a tad more, she had to pay $1. Which if she was asking for extra, I could understand. But her bagel had BARELY any on it. Also, FYI they don't have avocado. What bagel spot doesn't have avocado!? The service here is confusing. They are nice but very slow. And they are generous on the deli meat but not the cream cheese. Prices are average for the area. Parking is easy and plentiful. In the end, we thought the bagels were good. But not the best we've had in the area. Not sure if we liked it enough to come back a second time.

Good bagels and assortment of platters. The owner ordered a platter for breakfast for a meeting at my job. Dozen bagels, lox, various cream cheese spreads, tomatoes, onions and such and they gave me individual containers not quite the platter. I had to look around the office for plates and bowls to make the "platter" look nice. They are great otherwise!

A small addition to my review: they offer bottomless coffee (and it's not half bad) making it a good place for a leisure weekend morning. There is also an omelet bar on Sundays - it looks inviting, but I haven't tried it yet

Our go-to place for bagels. Excellent, fresh, REAL bagels. Each person in our family has their favorite flavor. For best selection, pick up in the morning (weekend mornings work, too!)

Great deli but very slow on weekday mornings. Definitely not New York bagel shop speed. Only go if you have spare time. Avoid if you're in a hurry!!!

such a great hole in the wall. I have been here 4 times now and just had their pumpkin bagel. Was not the greatest idea to mix it with a breakfast sandwich option BUT everything else I have is always absolutely delicious. Staff is always super polite too.

One of my boyfriend and I's favorite breakfast places. We get their bagel sandwiches (Jewish grandma/grandpa). Reasonable prices. I am obsessed with their pickles...they are the lightest pickles cucumbers. I love them. Service is nice

Nice place, good bagel sandwiches, relatively reasonable prices for Rockville. I had the pumpernickel bagel with turkey and Swiss cheese. Tons of turkey on the sandwich.

My now favorite close-to-home bagel source. Delicious plain bagels. Good price by the dozen. No more special trips to Rockville Pike for me.

Walking into BagelTowne, I was instantly reminded of many of the bagel shops I grew up with on Long Island - and of TooJays's deli down in Florida. Bagels, sandwiches (hot and cold) and a number of baked goods. Prices seemed pretty average, or at least comparable to those in New York. Some of the sandwiches sounded really great, but I was really craving a bagel. While we waited for our order, I looked around the dining room and saw the size of the omelets. They were nice and large. Unfortunately, the bagels - not so much. My "nova on the run" (bagel, nova, cream cheese, lettuce, tomato and capers) was tasty, but was about half the size of what I would have expected for the price. My wife felt similarly about her spinach and egg on bagel. Service here is the sort of fast-casual where you order at the counter and they bring you your food and drinks. After delivering our food, we were ignored for the rest of our visit until we left. BagelTowne is a nice concept, I'd just like some bigger portions.

I have been to Bageltowne deli in the mornings meeting people and it is a nice friendly neighborhood restaurant. Today I was wowed by a simple gesture. I usually never have more than a cup of coffee. Today I asked for a "small coffee" and after finishing it I was in the mood for another one. I went to the counter and asked for another coffee and paid for it. After I told the owner that they could refill my existing empty cup the owner told me that refills were free. Even after I told her it was Ok to charge me she voided the receipt and gav me my free refill. This is great service. I thought the gesture was good. They could have just taken my moneyThe owners seem to know the regulars and what they have. The one time I had bagels they were great too

I love this place! It's right around the corner from where I work and I'll often try to sneak out here for lunch! This is everything you wanted in a NY-style bagel shop...but without the NY! They do things 'Kosher-style', but then they pay homage to the fact that they aren't with salads appropriately named... ...sadly, I cannot remember the cool and funky and awesome names for things because I'm too busy ordering my favourite: A tuna sandwich on an everything bagel with lettuce, onions, sprouts, carrots, and cucumbers. The carrots is non-standard for them and there is sometimes confusion about how to add it to my order. You can get a side bag of chips, which is extra, but they offer some chips on the plate included. I believe that you can also substitute the chips for pasta salad, fruit salad, or coleslaw. Their bagels are freshly baked. I would say that their bagels rank in the top 2 for the best bagels you can get in Rockville. (The other place being Goldberg's.) On the weekends, they will add a few non-traditional bagel varieties, like jalapeno. If you can get there early enough, you will enjoy a bagel so warm and soft that it's as smooth as butter. They don't really do a full wait service. You order and pay at the counter. However, they will give you a number, bring your food to the table, and bus the dishes it for you.

This is our go-to spot for breakfast bagel sandwiches. There's usually a pile of bacon atop egg and cheese in the bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches or a thick slab of sausage. My daughter loves the tuna salad sandwiches, and she and my son wolf down the pickles, which are not sour and slightly salty.

  • Michele N.

I'll come here for breakfast on the go, or a quick lunch. For ~$5, I get the sausage, egg, and cheese bagel. It's a little pricey, but it comes with two sausage patties and the egg is probably 1/2 inch thick so I save half for lunch. When ordering a bagel with cream cheese, unless it is to go, they won't put the cream cheese on for you. I like my bagels with the cream cheese melted and warm. One time I dined in, and boy was I surprised when they presented me my plate with a naked bagel, cream cheese on the side- what is this Panera? The owners are friendly and efficient; I never have to wait long for my order- except on weekends when the line is out the door. Then I'll call my order in, and they'll have it ready for me by the time I get there. They also sell deli meats and cheeses, along with pasta salads and assorted baked goods. All in all, decent deli in a convenient location.

Good bagels, I like their various platters for weekend brunch, eg liver platter, nova lox platter. They have a good selection of stuff you'd find in a NY-style Deli, service is great, staff are friendly, worth checking out!

Bageltowne has a varied menu to suit pretty much anyone. They sell BoarHead meats and cheeses and offer many different sandwhich types, freshly made salads, bagels, kids items, coffee and ice cream. It's a very large space for a bagel-type shop and there is always a place to sit. The location is very convenient and parking is plentiful. I enjoy their bagel sandwiches with green olive cream cheese, tomato, lettuce and pickles. And their potato salad is really good. I don't particulalry care for their salads but I can tell they are popular from the amount of take out salads I see waiting for delivery. They have a sheet where you can choose your toppings and have it custom made. Salads and sandwiches are approx $7-$10. A bagel with cream cheese and a side of pasta salad costs only $5 or so. The line can get long. They usually only have one person manning the register. Sometimes it's a dude managing the register and he is suuuuuper slow. It still seems like it's his first day on the job and he has been there since it opened. Also, this is a popular place for stay-at-home moms' in the community and perhaps day care providers. Typically there are lots of kids running around and it seems like community social hour at the bagel joint. All in all the food is decent here. The atmosphere with the kids drives me a little crazy so I reduced the stars since I do sometimes dread going here just because the kids can be loud and whiny; or actually maybe it's their parents that are the issue. If you visit here, you will probably see what I mean. ***I shold update this by adding that I recently visited Bageltowne twice and the lines were short and the place was empty. Summer break, maybe??

  • Jane D.

Great selection, great food. I love the challah bread french toast. The chopped liver is great and the deli sandwiches, especially on bagels, are delicious. The only reason I didn't give it more stars is because I found the worst human being on the planet and he works here. The boss-type guy who was working the register today gave me so much attitude ... for that reason alone I would never go back. Customer service is dead.

  • Angela C.

My boyfriend and I live close and come here for breakfast sandwiches. Portions are defintely on the larger side. The eggs are served "microwaved steamed" style but I guess it's healthier than my usual fried egg option. They have a fairly extensive menu and omelet bar on Sundays (and maybe Saturday?). Staff is friendly but can be a bit slow at times.

  • Michelle G.

Favorite lunch time spot, I go at least twice a week for a "not so kosher" bagel. Yum! The smoothies are great, prices are reasonable, and service is quick. No need to call ahead, just order, wait five min and eat!

  • Hannah T.

I go here often because I spend a lot of time in the Rockville area. I'm really partial to their make-your-own salads because there are so many options, and I like to switch it up every time I go. The staff is wonderful and they always take the time to get to know you if your face pops up in their establishment often.

Great neighborhood bagel shop with good sandwiches and bakery items. Plenty of tables, and outdoor seating. We've also been happy with their catering. Admittedly not the most fabulous bagels, but can't have everything!

This is another instance where I wish Yelp gave us the 1/2 star, as I believe this place is a 3.5. It's a little better than OK, but not quite 4 star...Nevertheless, I have eaten here many times and the food is always solid. I particularly like the Potato salad, with a little mustard kick to it and the Chicken and Tuna Salad. The Bagels are better than your chain Bagel places and always good. They have a weekend omelet bar where for $9.49 you get to create your own omelet and get a good size bowl of REAL oatmeal with any of the fix-ins you want...AND a bagel. It is enough food for two people. To summarize, I wouldn't make a special trip to try Bageltowne deli, but if it's convenient to you, as it is for me, you won't walk away disappointed.

Einstein's is the lower bound, anything worse is inedible. The bagels here are solid (better than Einstein's). On the day I went, they only had a few kinds though. Worse, there was a $1.50 slicing fee. Seriously? Lame. Needless to say, I sliced them myself. More diversity, less nickel and diming. I may or may not return.

I was expecting good things from this deli since the place was so packed. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing but I was not impressed. I had the nova lox platter and matzoh ball soup. The lox was ok, a bit too slimy. The bagel was pretty good. The soup was under-seasoned. My wife's turkey sandwich was just ok. We probably won't go back. Parkway Deli in Silver Spring is still the Deli to beat.

  • Tim C.

It's decent enough. The bagels are fresh. They're better than what I'd get in a grocery store. The cream cheese stands out, particularly the scallion. The raisin walnut is also pretty good but pretty much everytime I've gotten it I get a couple bites that are gritty. I've only had one sandwich here, a reuben and it was fair. The service isn't particularly fast. What annoys me is I go here twice a week. Each time, I ask for a freshness bag. It's pretty much always the same lady and she still doesn't know what I'm asking for. There's definitely some communication issues, depending on who's working the counter. They have absolutely no business on weekday mornings, but they do get pretty busy for lunch. I continue to go back for its proximity to my job; if there was a better alternative I'd drive a bit out of the way for it, but I'm not dissatisfied with Bageltowne.

A friendly bagel shop that never fails to provide a good breakfast or brunch. They have great variety of bagels and their spreads are pretty good - lite nova is the best. From what I know, they've gone through different ownerships a lot but I haven't really seen any change in the quality of the food. They also have a deli and offer variety of morning drinks (juices, coffee, tea) and pastries. Recently, they've added frozen yogurt which is a great dessert even after breakfast. However, they're limited on the toppings. Definitely a recommended place for breakfast or brunch.

  • Aria W.

Fresh homemade bagels with tasty cream cheese spread offerings. They have a full selection of sandwiches for breakfast and lunch available. My favorite neighborhood breakfast spot. The staff is friendly and the food is always good.

  • Barbara P.

I've never really been a big fan of bagels and cream cheese until I had it here. Their scallion cream cheese is amazing. Instead of the dry flakes that you find in supermarket cream cheese, you can actually taste the zing in the scallion itself. It's so easy to spread and put onto their fresh bagels. Yum!

  • John N.

I used to enjoy this place. It seems they either changed ownership or the owners are never around anymore and the quality has suffered. The bagels are still pretty decent - though they're fluffier than I like - but the service has just gotten abysmal. 3 of the last 3 times I've gone for takeout they either forget to make my order or make it and neglect to tell me that it's ready. And this last time while the place is virtually empty and the employees seem to care more about chatting with each other than serving the customers. I'll be looking for another place to get my bagels even though it will likely mean driving further.

  • Michael S.

An absolute regular weekend eatery for my wife and I. Steve, the owner, is amazingly friendly. He'll have you feeling like part of the Bageltowne Elite in no time. The bagels there rival those found in the NYC, but don't get too crazy; There's only room for one elite bagelarium (patent pending), Ess-a-Bagel! The Bubbe and Zeyde are worth the trip alone, and for vegetarians, the Yenta will have you talking. If you're in the mood for some side items, both the potato salad and cole slaw are uber-yummy. I must also add that both the whitefish salad and rugelah are imported from good ol' Baltimore. So if you're missing the Deli Days of NY, head out to Bageltowne. I promise you won't be disappointed. PS. I only give it four stars because if you catch them at the wrong time, i.e. off-hours, what products make it to your bagel may be a bit stingy.
