They just recently raised their prices by about $.50. But overall their eggwiches and Rubens are amazing. I suggest going during the week and not the weekend because it is overcrowded and you will never be able to find an open seat. The line was long and it took forever for us to order but I guess it's just because people love them so much. During the week it's nice to sit down with some coffee and their half priced deli sandwiches after 5pm and just do some work on the laptop. Free wifi (:

BP and I were craving Pizza Bagels for and early dinner so we walked into Bagel City and the cravings were satisfied! I loved how cute the shop was! The lil' bagel people were good enough to eat! It was strange how empty it was, BP kept thinking they were closed. We were the only customers there for a bit, but about 15 minutes later, two more groups of people placed their orders. I was really surprised to see the large variety of menu items. They even have a bagel special on Wednesday nights called Bargain Bagels! I believe its around $8.50 for a dozen. The bakery items looked delectable and you should have seen their Black&White Cookies! HUGE! I am defiantly going to order bakery goodies on my next visit. This time, BP and I stuck true to our cravings and ordered Pizza bagels and he surprised me by ordering a hot dog bagel as well, (a hot dog go-around?). We thought it was a bit strange that the order took so long to be prepared (about 20 mins), but I forgot all about the wait when the food arrived. I don't know if we had an option, but the pizzas were made on sesame bagels. The cheese on my pizza bagel was a bit burned and the sauce was a bit too sweet for my liking. But, that's okay, Bagel City! I am looking forward to giving the Pizza Bagel's another try, but I'll add a few mini-turkey peperoni's next time to spice it up (Hormel makes amazing turkey pep). I really enjoyed the hot dog bagel. I had it on an egg bagel. The hot dog was boiled in a circular manner so it fit on the bagel and the sides were partially-sliced. That was pretty cool. The Hot-dog bagel was served with a side of coleslaw and a pickle. De-lish!

The bf made a big deal about how he loves to come here for the chicken salad melt so I willingly came along to try the bagel sandwiches recently. He got the aforementioned sandwich on a twist bagel, while I went for the tuna melt on a wheat everything bagel. My sandwich was okay and filling but this definitely wasn't the best bagel I've had. The tuna was kind of bland and I liked the bites of his chicken melt a lot more. Points for making wheat everything, though, and also for having several kinds of cheese (we like muenster). I wouldn't go out of my way to return but if you're looking for sandwiches or bagels on the Pike, it's an alternative to the chains.

After church on a Sunday morning, we stopped for fresh bagels at the Bagel City on Rockville Pike. We were shocked when we got home to find we had at least day old bagels. Well, I'm from New York City and I know a fresh bagel from a day old one. The only way to consume them was toasted, and that was if you could get your knife through them. Guess that's the last time I stop there. Pat, Rockville, MD

I recently found myself in Rockville, and decided to re-visit Bagel City. It had been a while since my high school days of skipping out to go to lunch here and from the looks of things not much had changed. We ordered (everything bagel with egg and swiss for me and black and white with lox and cream cheese for the fiance) and then sat down and waited for our order... and waited... and waited. We saw a couple people who ordered after us get their food, and then heard the table next to us ask where their food was and immediately receive it, so we decided to ask. They brought it out right away, so clearly it was just sitting on a counter waiting to be brought out. But ok, I'll give them that, this is not a sit down restaurant, really. When the bagels came, but they were squarely average and a little disappointing because they were not as good as I remember. The cream cheese and lox were the highlights, but the bagels were nothing special. I'd go here if I'm on the pike but definitely won't make a special trip. It's worth noting that their bakery selection looked delicious with lots of our old favorite cookies, rugelach and such...

If there's a word or phrase in Yiddish that means "that'll do," I could write a whole review for this place with it. No one would understand it since I wrote it in a language that was practically extinct, but still. Nothing about this place is great, but everything's, well, sufficient. Their bagels, for example, are not crunchy or chewy enough to be considered true New York bagels, but they're decently flavorful and just significant enough in size to be filling. Similarly their bagal sandwiches have eggs that are just fluffy enough to be good and their Mexican bagel (a nod to the multicultural nature of Rockville I'd think) has salsa that's just spicy enough to be considered spicy. In fact, about the only thing that doesn't quite tip the scales to good is their knishes. They're a good example of the shortcuts this place seems to take. Instead of whole potato goodness, they crush into flakes. And they're not seasoned enough. Yet somehow people wait in line for a long time with even longer wait times for food. I'm not sure why they do it. I'm not sure why I do it (besides supporting local business). Maybe it's the fact that they're open on holidays (including Christmas). Or maybe, I guess, it's that "that'll do" really just does sometimes.

I love getting Lox bagels here and trying different cream cheeses each time. Scallion is my fav but chive is good too! Plus I love that they have a wheat everything bagel!!

Update: don't let the fact that it's a Jewish deli fool you, I was able to get a bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast bagel sandwich here. It was tasty! Monday nights is half-priced sandwich night. I LOVE the rye bagels.

I love bagels!!! Anyhow, visiting from California and wherever I go..I love me some bagel. I ordered an everything bagel with nova spread and it was DELISH! To feel the skin of the bagel break against my teeth as I took a bite..slowly the saltiness of the nova spread touching my tongue...as I chewed it was heaven in my mouth! My one and only con: I hate foam plates! Wish they would serve up the bagels on something else.

I returned here a couple ago after thinking about how much I wanted a pizza bagel and that I love Bagel City's pizza bagels. We used to go in high school all the time as a group of us. Well, the memory of how delicious their pizza bagels are was crushed big time! You used to be able to get your pizza bagel on any type of bagel and now they told me that I only had two choices. Ok....I decided on a plain bagel. Once it was ready, I grabbed it and started eating. Upon picking it up in my hands, I quickly realized they had microwaved the bagel! Seriously??? You never microwave a bagel! It makes them taste terrible. I was so disappointed. I felt like a little kid crushed when their ice cream falls off of their cone. Sadly, I will not be returning. I can make a much better pizza bagel at home!

The bagel I had was a little stale. Also, they only have like 6 spreads, which for a "bagel city" is pretty weak.

We came in here while we waited for a nearby store to open and enjoyed some things and not others. My veggie bagel sandwich was awesome but my partner's pumpernickel was dry and hard to chew through. We also ordered two OJ's after being told they were fresh squeezed but when we got them it was clear it was tropicana or something. To their credit, the service is great...one of the people at the counter handed a couple free bagels as we walked out. Probably wouldn't go out of my way to come here but am rooting for a place that's been around for 35 years!

I have been frequenting Bagel City since I was in high school -- I'd meet my friends at this Rockville Pike hot spot for 1/2 price bagel sandwiches on Monday nights. It hasn't changed a bit since then. The walls are still mirrored and covered in "bagel people" holding hands and wearing clothes. The pastry case is still filled with delicious hamentaschen, rainbow cookies, and black and white cookies too. The bagel selection has always been extensive and my favorite sandwich variety is still the Health Nut (provolne cheese, sprouts, tomato slices, with a side of ranch dressing). Maybe you really can go home again? Go to Bagel City for THE BEST bagels in the DC area. Stay for the authentic suburban atmosphere. GO back for the pastries and Dr. Browns cans flowing from the beverage case.

I love love love Bagel City. I am from New York and it tastes like home. I love their chicken salad as well. The dessert and cookies also look right out of a New York deli and I always have to restrain myself from ordering more.

Can I give this place no stars? I've been here a few times because it's local and not a chain and I always forget how disappointing it is. I don't understand the people that have rated this more than one star. Have you ever eaten a quality bagel? This place is mediocre at best. Food is meh. Service is terrible. They are never nice and polite. Even the female manager who is usually here when I come in doesn't even pretend to care about the customers. Don't waste your time here.

We waited 15 minutes for two toasted bagels before they told us they were out of strawberry cream cheese. Then the bagels came, untoasted. And it wad tough and dry.

My friend took us here on Monday for dinner. They have a half off special on Mondays. These are not Chicago Style Kosher deli sandwiches, but no one could beat Manny's anyway. They offer good food at reasonable prices. The could shave their meat thinner as the pastrami and corned beef were tough, fresh and tasty, but tough.

If I'm ever on Rockville Pike and want a decent place to catch a quick bite this is the place to go. It got decent bagel sandwiches and a full array of bakery goodies. It also has "boutique" snacks and soft drinks you don't find in a regular bagel place. I normally order the roast beef on a pumpernickel bagel and I've never been disappointed. Nice, lean beef and a tasty, chewy bagel served with a cole slaw side that pretty tasty, too. Plenty of free parking and a comfortable place to sit and chat with a friend or business associate while having an inexpensive lunch or afternoon nosh.

I can't give this place a 1 star because Royal in Germantown was worse, so this falls short but is not terrible. my boyfriend is Jewish, so I didn't have the perspective on bagels that I did until I met him. first, he went over there this morning before 7 and they had no onion bagels made yet, even though this is peak hour. they also use fake blueberry crumbles for their blueberry bagels. I've found inconsistencies in the crumb..outside too hard, insufficient leavening. They are chewy, but are not what they used to be I feel. Run by a bunch of Hispanics behind the counter. No offense, but a bagel is not something they seem to shine with. Next time I'll listen to the Yelpers and go to Goldberg's. Ones today were overly chewy flat bricks with no balance

  • Meaghan H.

The bagels were small and stale (I'm talking hard as a rock, almost took a tooth out stale). Moreover, the coffee was HORRIBLE - it looked (and tasted like) dirty water, and was probably left over from the night before. To top it all off, the place was empty and it still took them twenty minutes to "make" the bagel and coffees. By far the worst bagel and coffee I have ever had. Save your time and money and go to dunkin donuts down the street.

So I have been coming to this place for a couple of years. The place has great bagel and cream cheese variety and I love everything that they have. However...the pricing is a little much and the cashiers can be unfriendly. It tends to be a hit or miss with them when it comes to customer service, but I go there anyway for the food...until today. While ordering my food, I saw a mouse scurry across the front of the shop into a bookshelf that carried crates next to all the bagel baskets they have infront. He hung out there and kept sticking his head out of the crate from time to time to see when he could make another break for it while I tried to get the attention of the cashier. What really bothered me was after I told the cashier, she looked into the area AND saw the mouse peep his head out but as soon as a customer walked up, she went right back to business like she didn't care. No. Thanks.

I'm very sad to say that after shopping at Bagel City for five years, an incident with them turned so ugly that the owner (or owner's father) called my husband a racial epithet and called the police when the problem was due to their own error. On Saturday morning March 16, I called in an order for mini-bagels for my son's fifth birthday party. They told me it would be ready by 11 AM. Since my husband was nearby at my son's T-ball, I sent him to get the bagels with this text: "You need to get the bagels at Bagel City. They are under (our last name). Then go to Whole Foods and get a fruit platter." At 11:15 or so, my husband and son arrive at Bagel City, where he says, "I'm here for the (our last name) platter." They make him wait forever and then give him an elaborate mini-bagels platter (when all I had ordered was two dozen mini-bagels). He asks how much he owes, they say "your wife already paid." Employees take the platter out to our car and wish him a good day. He thinks nothing of this entire transaction, because he didn't know *exactly* what I had ordered. He thought I had ordered this platter for the parents at the party. And he's more preoccupied with the fact that they took so long we're going to be late to our own kid's party. When he gets home, I'm already in the van ready to go (because we're running late), and tell him to just put everything in the back of the car. When we get to the party downtown, he pulls out this huge platter, and I say "That's not what I ordered!" But we're already 15 minutes late to the party and just get on with our guided tour of a Nat Geo pirates' exhibit. We get out of the exhibit and back to the party room, and I check my phone -- there are several calls and voicemail. The owner says they have my husband on video camera taking the wrong order and that the police have been called. I excuse myself FROM MY SON'S BIRTHDAY and call back immediately to explain the miscommunication. I'm IMMEDIATELY called a liar, told the police have been called, etc. etc. so I give the phone to my husband (who is an attorney), and the owner yells at him, calls him a thief and a liar. The woman tells him he has no decency, she is a small business owner, etc. My husband asks that she apologize for calling him a liar/accusing him, when it was THEIR ERROR and a miscommunication. The man takes the phone back and says he's going to "sue you, you little f---er" and calls my husband a racial slur for a Chinese man (that rhymes with "think"). My husband gets off the phone and we try to sing happy birthday to our youngest kid, but both of us are on edge. An hour later the police call me to ask for my side of the story. They tell me they believe me and that all we need to pay is the $14.40 we owe for the original mini-bagels order, because it was THEIR system error that led to the wrong order being given to us. The police officer also ENCOURAGED us to contact the BBB and tell our friends not to shop there! We sent a money order the following day, but we want to spread the word to others not to shop there, because they never ONCE took any ownership of their mistake, and they never once apologized to us. Believe us that we threw out most of the bagels from the platter they erroneously gave us, because most LITTLE KIDS aren't going to eat bagels full of tuna salad and salmon cream cheese, red onion, etc. Know that if you shop at Bagel City you are supporting a racist small-business owner who doesn't care about his customers and only the bottom line.

After waiting for about half an hour for a bagel sandwich at Ize's Deli and Bagelry, we decided we wanted to look at another deli or bagel shop for eats, and randomly found this place while driving by on the Pike. I was put off by the strip mall outside and inner decor, but the fact that it had loads of seating was a plus since we had to fight for a table and still sit with strangers at Ize's. I'm not sure why everyone is saying it's priced too high, I thought it was very reasonable and our food came out in a few minutes. I got a eggwhich deluxe with turkey sausage on a plain bagel and it was delicious. My boyfriend got the corned beef and was a little disappointed with what he deemed was a "skimpy sandwich," but he enjoyed it and we agreed we would definitely go back. The only negative I could say was maybe the wait to order, but it was a lot less time than Ize's so that was ok by me. While I stood waiting to order, I had a nice view of the desserts and pastries and got a raspberry linzer cookie to go for later. The cookie was huge and very good. I bought it because it reminded me of the cookies my grandma used to make and it was *almost* close to homemade.

Disappointed. I loved B.C. and used to frequent this place regularly about 10 years ago when I lived in MD, back in the day. Sad to say, it's not what it use to be. The portions are wayyyy less and overall everything's gone downhill. The shopping center is also quite depressing. Soooo sad but I guess everything changes. :(

Their bagels are terrible, what can I say? Beyond that, they serve barely disguised processed meat from the cheapest area producer (a big box store?) and try (unsuccessfully) to contain their disdain for customers who come in to purchase their product. I live nearby, and I've eaten there a couple of times, and I do not hesitate to say that I am so insulted by their service and food that I would actively discourage other people from going there. Please. There are much better options nearby!

I normally just grab a bag of bagels or rugelach here and run, and both of those are definitely 5-star, but last Saturday I had to be in the neighborhood for awhile and decided to try a sandwich there. So I ordered roast beef on a salt bagel and a Dr. Brown's Diet Black Cherry Soda. The bagel, as usual, was excellent, but the meat in the sandwich was nothing special, merely acceptable, rather than mouth-watering, not an experience I'd bother repeating. Who knows? Maybe they do better at things like chopped liver rather than cold cuts. Definitely worth stopping by for the bagels, but as for having a meal there, well, caveat emptor. The employees were upbeat and friendly, though, so whatever you do, you'll feel welcome.

The name of this place is very misleading. Their bagels are TERRIBLE! They should name the place Black and White Cookie City or maybe Cannoli City or Dessert City of some kind. They have the most amazing desserts... but their bagels are NOT good. And the place really LOOKS promising when you walk in. Service- 5 stars. Awesome Bagels- 1 star. If that. Booooo Cream Cheese- 4 stars. Pretty good. Go for a black and white cookie. Not the bagels. Disappointing. Such a shame.

With a shiny, be-mirrored, rainbow-clouded decor reminiscent of a 1970's pre K classroom /slash/ beach boardwalk funhouse, I find my senses so overwhelmed in Bagel City I'm not sure I can actually taste my food. It has all the correct menu ingredients - a multitude of bagel flavors, lox, all sorts of sandwich fillings. It certainly looks like a deli, menu-wise, that is. Albeit not a full-fledged one. I don't think they have, say, omelets and home fries, though I can't really remember. Like I said the decor (and possibly the music? Not sure about that either) just takes over all thought patterns and sensory functions, so who knows? Maybe they have prime rib and an indoor/outdoor swimming pool too? Having said that, this is the D.C. region, so it's not like we have a plethora of bagel options, especially when the offerings of the Brothers Einstein and Dunkin' Donuts' bagel-shaped pastries are removed from the mix. For that reason I give it three stars. And for that reason you will, occasionally, find me in there purchasing a toasted bagel with butter. Though I think I will get it to go and eat it in the car so that I can properly review the taste next time.

I just can in here with my family. I ordered 4 bagel beauty (cost - $4.39), and asked if they could do chive cream cheese instead of plain. "Sure" they said. What they did not say is they charge an extra 1.50 for chive cream cheese, REALLY? No where on the menu does it speak of a surcharge, and no warning came from the cashier. Thanks bagel city, why you feel the need to nickel and dime me is silly. I hardly believe chive cream cheese on 4 bagels is worth 6$. You lost my business, and I hope others think twice before coming here. Bagels are average at best, pricey all the time. Hidden costs included. Go to izes down the road. More fam friendly.

I don't care what you normally eat, or where you normally go, you will LOOOOOOOOOVE this place. I'm a huge fan of theirs. Again, old people LOOOOOOOOOVE this place, which again means that the quality HAS to be good or else they wouldn't waste the last days of their lives going there. You will be a fan, trust me.

Coming from NY, these are some of the best and most authentic bagels I have had in Maryland. They also have a nice deli and bakery. Very similar to what you would find in a NYC area bagel place.

  • Alexandra W.

Delicious. Their bagels are a little flat compared to the infamous New York bagels, but that is a small downside to the rest of the business. They are fast and accurate. Also, the lady there in the morning could look less displeased to be working there. We have to work too! So save our mornings and just be nice.

This is seriously a cute place! I have been several times now and really enjoy it. They have a lot more to offer than just bagels and cream cheese! They do sandwiches, breakfast platters, cookies, muffins, coffee, ice cream, tons of different juices and milk, tons of chip choices and many other items! I have ordered several of their bagels and they are delicious. Soft and flavorful! I would like to say that sometimes they overload the cream cheese, but hey that is better than lack of, it's easy to swipe off and enjoy! They also sell their cream cheese if you like the flavors! Overall, as long as I live in the area I will keep coming back!

I've driven past the back of this shopping center and was always sort of curious about this place so I diverted my route to work to stop by today. The place is big so there's lots of seating, they also have a pretty expansive menu. They have breakfast sandwiches, deli sandwiches, ice cream, cookies, muffins. They also have prepared cream cheese to take home. I got the onion bagel with what was listed as chive cream cheese, (but was really scallion). No biggie there I like them both, and actually prefer scallion. The cream cheese was excellent, smooth with chunks of scallion. The bagel was disappointing, mostly because of size, it was quite small and if I'm paying $3.49 I'd expect a slightly larger bagel. I might try them again for lunch or something, their cookies looked good, I do love a black and white cookie.

This place always brings back memories! I have been coming here for decades! Really! When I first started dining here the place was half it's size and so was the menu! This place offers first cut deli meats and awesome fresh made salads. Quite a few sweet and savory cream cheese spreads. All of the usual suspect but the egg salad, tuna and whitefish salads are my favorites. As a younger me I worked for a company around the corner (W. Bell & Company) and my boss ordered lunch for us at least twice a week. I AM ADDICTED TO THE : "Mexican Eggwich" scrambled eggs topped with chunky salsa and melted cheese on a (onion) bagel "Hot Dog Go Round" pretty much a kosher scored grilled and placed in a hollowed out (poppy seed) bagel and I top it with slices of salami! AND the whitefish, egg salad and first cut pastrami! (Well not all on the same bagel.... Hmmm.. No... Not on the same bagel) The olive or dill, garlic cream cheese spreads are by far my favorites!! What makes me go out of my way to get to this place is the fact that they cater to kids! They are one of the few bagel shops, that I have been visited, that offer PB&J!! (I love PB&J too) My only complaint is something that can not be helped. Saturday and Sunday mornings here are crazy! With that being said, the dinning area will be a bit of a mess. No waiters just counter people. It may take a bit of time to find a clean table or someone to clean it for you.

I used to work nearby and had lunch there nearly every day. Toasted bagel with lox, cream cheese, tomato, lettuce and onion with a side of coleslaw and you are in heaven. That coleslaw recipe is a miracle. I have tried to extract it from them, but it is a secret. Matzo ball soup...wow...and so many authentic deli favorites. Love it Jim George

I ordered a bagel with nova cream cheese and the bagel tasted old/stale. I ordered a side salad and asked for French dressing, the dressing in the packet of French was yellow so I checked the expiration date which expired in 2014! It's 2015!! Employees handed me another French that was expired and then Honey Mustard that was expired too. The employees were uninterested in even checking the date before handing me the expired dressing. Customer service was not good. Ize's bagel is down the street and will be my bagel home base from now on!

I've been coming to Bagel City for 30 years and love it as much now as I did as a toddler. Best bagels in the tri state area, best and freshest cream cheeses, too. Forget those terrible bagel chains and enjoy the real deal!

I stepped in here one day as I was really Jones'ing for a bagel w/ lox, tomato, cream cheese, onions and capers. That's exactly what I got, on rye. Total yum. The place has an amazing menu and fantastic table service. You order it and they bring it, or you can get it to go. I had the bagel sandwich, a large diet Coke and matsoh ball soup...under 17 bucks. Nice. The only beef I had was the soup was a very teeny portion considering what you pay. Stay away from it. Stick to the sandwich

Not sure why this place has such low reviews, though they seem mainly to come from people who come to Bagel City and don't order bagels. Best veggie cream cheese I have ever tasted and the only place in the area to sell Unique Brand extra salty pretzels. My go-to is salt bagel, not toasted, veggie cream cheese, with a tomato on it and pickle on the side. My husband's is the pizza bagels. Add a Snapple and spread out the Sunday paper -- heavenly! The only thing I've tried and not been crazy about is the petite four -- hard mini bagels with bland salad fillings.

First time coming here and probably my last. Lady at the register didn't get my simple order for an eggwhich right by not charging me for two, when that's what I asked for. Service behind the counter seems sporadic and unorganized. Waited for what seemed like 10-15 to get food for pickup. Also, the lady behind the counter calling numbers wasn't even reading them correctly, so orders were getting mixed up. Aside from the service, the food was okay. Bagels are pretty small, taste a little bland, and came with tiny hash browns...? Three star food with two star service.

It's sad day for me to give a poor review to a place that I loved for many many years. I would drive in from DC to order fresh, legitimate NY style bagels with their yummy cream cheese. But it appears that Bagel City has not fared well through the years. Their once voluminous selection of beverages in cases that lined the walls has dwindled to just a few paltry choices showcased in sad nearly empty cases. The decor which hasn't changed since the 80's, has gone from just outdated to now faded, musty & tired. As for the food, I was hoping the Zlotnick family recipe lives strong despite the haggard decor, but no..... My simple tuna bagel lightly toasted w tomato & a pickle was served in a crumpled brown bag that sat on the counter with no one to call my number. I had to ring the bell & ask if it was my order. I wish I had stayed to eat my tuna bagel because surprise - they screwed my order over slightly (no pickle, no toasting & super limp lettuce which I didn't ask for). Finally the tuna itself which used to be the ultimate deli style tuna (hardly any mayo & no extra fru fru stuff) was beyond bland and super dry. Basically it sucked. Never again Bagel City. My hunt for the best bagels in on!

Never coming back here. Not only is the food quite pricey, the people who help you aren't friendly and the food isn't fresh. I came in to buy a box of treats, bagels & cream cheese to bring to the office. The only thing I like here are the coconut macaroons but they make it big & dense so two of them can easily cost $6. I bought half a dozen bagels and a plain cream cheese and the total came out to be almost $15. Ridiculous! When she rang up the items and I saw the total I had to look at it again. How expensive! Then I tried the bagels when I got to the office and weren't fresh. Tough to eat and old. So disappointing.

Hadn't been to Bagel City in a few years. I live in Silver Spring and needed to meet with some people from Germantown, so we were looking for something in between. My husband suggested Bagel City as a place we could sit and talk without interruption. It's fairly large and we picked a time in between breakfast and lunch so we wouldn't tie up a table needed for others. The menu is large. Keeping it simple, I ordered a poppy seed bagel with cream cheese and a medium coffee. I thought I ordered a mini bagel but when it came out it was a regular bagel. Also, apparently I was supposed to have a call number but that hadn't happened. It was all okay though. You order at the counter and then sit with your number card if they're preparing hot food. Or if just getting a bagel you can hang out at the "pick up" counter. When you order coffee you get a take-out cup and mix your own coffee of regular or decaf or a blend. The regular container was almost empty, but I wanted it mixed with decaf anyway, so no problem. And I'm sure if I asked they would have refilled the regular. Even with the last of the regular coffee mixed with decaf it was not bitter or burned. They had the little coffee creamer cups, so much better than the powdered stuff. I settled at a table out of the way with my bagel and coffee and waited for the others. The bagel, which I had requested toasted, was really good and full of cream cheese. The coffee was perfect for me--not too strong. We were meeting about a volunteer school project and thought it would last about an hour. It turned out we brain-stormed for 2 hours. I noticed there was another table near us that seemed to be also having a "business meeting". No one bothered us and it was quiet. There wasn't any music, no one "checking" on us, and not busy as this off-peak time to be noisy. The food was good enough I'd come back for a quick lunch. The advertised soups sounded delicious. The bagel sandwiches and other choices tempting. Also, web-site says they are open 365 days a year.

It is a little bit pricey but very tasty. The food is fresh and the service is friendly. They have a big menu to choose from! Voila

After 4 years, and returning to the area, I'm writing another review of Bagel City. Yes their everything bagels are still amazing. BUT THAT"S IT! I ordered an Everything bagel with garlic dill cream cheese. They spread was NASTY. It literally was 90% garlic with enough cheese to make it stick together and a pinch of dill. I had to scrape it off to eat the bagel. BAGEL CITY I'M DUMPING YOU!

This is my second trip to Bagel City. I came back because the first unexciting visit I chalked up to making the wrong menu choice. I now know I was wrong! I'm prepared to say that my corn beef Reuben was just below regular and the side of slaw was tasteless. Sadly, the bagel was a little stale and I think the slaw was shredded cabbage with watered down vinegar - period. The prices are too high for the quality of the food. I won't come back and I wouldn't recommend this place. Even the service was just regular!

Bagels good. Latte cold and undrinkably horrible. Told man behind counter and he said "ok. Have a nice day." Service terrible and unfriendly.

I'm a native NY'er but every time I am in the suburbs of DC I have breakfast here. So many flavors of cream cheese to choose from, freshly baked bagels, large kosher selection and all sorts of other options for those who aren't fans of cream cheese. If you didn't look outside you would swear you were in an authentic NYC bagel shop.

Good food, large menu and friendly atmosphere.. I go here most days for lunch and while the food is nothing outstanding it is all around good quality and much better then a lot of the other places in the area. I would suggest calling your order in advance if you go during the lunch time rush as it can sometimes be a little slow if you dont. Favorite food on the menu: Chicken Surprise with bacon on white bread.

Um, what kind of a bagel store runs out of smoked fish and refuses to cater your son's bris with several days notice? These guys.

I'm from New York. I like bagels. This place does not have New York bagels. I've been told by others that this is the best bagel place around. I'm going to need to start having bagels delivered from New York. This was the third time I've had a bagel here and I'm giving up. they suck and the customer service isn't great. I asked for low fat cream cheese on just half of the bagel (yes I'm weight conscience and eating a bagel) and she said I should just get it on the side and make it the way I want. I've made the same request at a number of other places and they've never had an issue. Regardless I won't be back because of the crappy bagel, not the sub-par service.

Mmmm, Nova spread! :D It is delish! I had it w/a bag of hummus chips...I had the city salad from here which was decent, but not good...I also had baklava-WHOA! One of the best baklavas I've ever had! They appear to have a lot of other great pastries which my sweet tooth was drawn to!

I went in super early on a Saturday and ordered two egg sandwiches to go. I was the ONLY person in there... It took TWENTY minutes for the sandwiches to be made! I had to ask twice if they were ready and I could see the woman making the sandwiches just shooting the breeze with a guy in the back. And the sandwich was just ok, but definitely not good. The bagels are NOT NY bagels and they are small and hard. What a bummer...

We used to frequent Bagel City about 10 years ago while living in Rockville. Happened to be down there on a Saturday morning so we stopped in for breakfast for old times sake. I wish we didn't. We both ordered everything bagels with nova spread, lettuce, tomato and onion. Add in two large coffees and you are looking at $14. Seems a bit pricey but would have no problem with the price if the quality was better. The bagels were small and hard. My wife said they tasted like day old bagels and I couldn't disagree. The nova spread was light on salmon and bland overall. The lettuce, tomato, and onion were fresh. Coffee was watery. Overall it was edible but not enjoyable.

Best bagels I've had in the DC area! When I moved to DC from NYC, I didn't think that finding a good bagel place would be as difficult as it has been...they say its because of the difference in water quality between MD and NY. Anyway, the bagels at Bagel City make me miss my favorite bagel place in Park Slope. They are, as some other yelpers have mentioned, smaller than you would get in NYC, but they taste just like I remember. Kuddos to the folks at bagel city for bringing one of the best parts of Brooklyn to the beltway area. Four stars because I refuse to give 5 stars to a place where you order food at a counter (i.e. cafeteria style restaurants, deli style restaurants, etc.)

My reuben was quite good, as were the bagels. I've only been there once, but will head back there. Only negative: Counter staff was not friendly at all.

Their bagels rock. They are the best you can get outside NYC. The service is kind of half hearted though. Maybe later in the morning it gets better, but really early on a Saturday morning can be a little bit of a downer here.

These aren't NY bagels, but this isn't NY. For Maryland, they are pretty tasty. Chewy on the inside, slightly crunchy on the outside, with lots and lots of unusual varieties (chocolate chip or sun dried tomato anyone?) This has been my got Sunday morning bagel spot for the past 10 years at least. A dozen to go (plus you get an extra) sliced (slicing charge goes to charity, nice touch). Cream cheese assortment is varied and great...this is the real stuff, no preservatives, so eat it quick before it goes bad (not a prob in my house). Sandwiches are OK, but I usually go for the open faced veggie delight (bagel with veggie cream cheese and your choice of melted cheese on top - yum). They also have nova AND belly lox (the original lox, a personal fave and hard to find). The owners/managers are super friendly and the staff is efficient. Waits are long for your order if your not picking up a dozen to go, but at least your sandwich will be super fresh. People who knock this place probably ask for their fresh bagel toasted. Sheesh.

This place has some of the best food in the area. The breakfast sandwiches are amazing and you get a lot of food for a small price. They have a wide variety of bagels that are always fresh and plus tons of pastries. The chocolate cigar is my favorite. I am dying to try the Hamantashens of every flavor: apricot, raspberry, chocolate and almond, strawberry. The service is friendly and quick. They do have milkshakes and smoothies. I wish I would have come here more often!

This place initially struck me as cool cuz it has lots of NY goodies (black and white cookies, rugelach, deli) which I can't vouch for since I had a bagel. And it wasn't great, kinda hard. And semeed kinda pricey - over $4 (with cream cheese, onion, tomato). I'm not sure what ya'd pay elsewhere. The lite veggie cream cheese was better than average, bigger hunks of varied veggies. Overall, just meh.

I stopped into this place today around lunchtime because I was in the area work. It being a bagel place I decided to go with a bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel. That coupled with a medium soda ended up being six dollars and change. I took my number and waited patiently for my order. A couple of minutes later the lady at the counter called my number and I got my order. In the bag in addition to my bagel wrapped in foil was another little thing wrapped in tinfoil and a little container of I wasn't really sure what. It turned out that the two extras were a potato latka and applesauce. That was a pleasant surprise. But when I opened up my bagel the disappointment started. Let me just preface by saying I grew up in Brooklyn New York, and had a bagel every day for breakfast through high school. The bagel was smaller than normal, and it had caraway seeds on it. I have never ordered an everything bagel and gotten one with caraway seeds. It kind of threw everything off. Though there was a hefty portion of egg, the bacon seemed like it had been sitting there for a while was just pretty much crumbly pieces of old bacon. The taste was okay but that's about it. Just okay. I'm not sure if it was the old bacon or the caraway seeds on the everything bagel but it was just not up to par. If I come here again I'll just try a plane buttered bagel, that can't be messed up.

Fairly good and at a good price. I got the eggwhich and it sure had a lot of bland egg. The bagel was good. My wife thought her eggwhich deluxe was very bland on a plain bagel. They do a good business, at least on a Saturday mid morning.

I love bagels, and though I liked what I ordered when I ate here, I don't think I would turn this into my breakfast place to go. The place looks a little dirty but I see the workers constantly busing tables. The place has a ton of options to choose from on the menu, but nothing that really says "this place is unique". The wait time to get our bagels was ridiculous! I came with 2 other friends, my bagel was the first to come out (after waiting 10 minutes). My friends ordered the exact same thing I did and yet their bagels did not come out for another 15 minutes. That's is insanel. The place wasn't crowded (or I would have blamed the wait on that), but maybe they were short staffed or something was wrong in the kitchen? I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. (of course later I read later reviews that this place seems to always have a long wait for food). Though I have not tried any of their desserts, I have heard great reviews about them/ (Maybe if I come again, I'll try the desserts instead of a bagel) I wouldn't turn this place down if someone suggests it, but I don't think I will think to come here on my own.

I love Bagel City. Their bagels are of excellent quality, and I consider myself a bagel connoisseur. If you are a local you will most definitely return. They give you a generous serving of cream cheese, the knishes were fresh and delicious, and the staff were always helpful and friendly. There are so many items to choose from--you won't know what to get the first time but it's ok, like I said, you'll be back. Excellent quality for the $$$.

Bagels are small, thin.....not terrible but certainly no better than something from a supermarket. These can't hold a candle to Goldberg's bagels. The rugelach are not especially good here either.

This place is like a neighborhood deli/sandwich shop. I eat lunch here once every often. I don't really like their interior. It makes me feel like I'm at a children's cafeteria...You'll see what I mean when you go there. Bagels are ok...Fresh and chewy. I normally get tuna melt or pizza bagel. It's pretty close to a home-made sandwich. My friend had a reuben sandwich (not on a bagel), and she loved it. If you don't know what you want, and feel like having a home-made sandwich, this place may satisfy you!

With that enormous sign, it's hard to miss Bagel City. I figured six years is a long enough time to ignore, so one hungry day led me straight to my new favorite bagel place. The place itself is spacious, cluttered-looking but clean. The menu was mouth watering with its variety and descriptions. After a while of debating over what to get, I went for the 'health nut'. My wait was so long but the bagel was definitely worth it. Warm and toasty, it was a open-faced bagel topped with sprouts, tomatoes and cheese (and something else I can't remember). Accompanying it was a dip and coleslaw, which I didn't really care for. But OMG that bagel was soo good! Gave my carnivore loving co-worker a piece and she was hooked. They also sell a large selection of bottled drinks, coffee/tea, brownies, cookies and other sweets. The fruit and cheese platters are very appealing... needless to say I'll be back with high expectations

Definitely very good bagels. I was sadden that they did not have any salt bagels left when I was there, but it was the end of the day. I think the hours listed are incorrect as I was there about 7:30pm on a Friday night. They were getting ready to close and we were the only customers in there. I'm wondering what the guy was doing -- bagging up the unsold bagels, but leaving them in the bins?? Their pizza bagels are great; three varieties to chose from. Their menu wall is extensive and they sell a variety of homemade cream cheeses too. I ordered a toasted poppy seed bagel with cream cheese and left feeling very contented, ready to make my way in the DC humidity.

More than bagels; a Jewish deli. The menu is extensive and not expensive, and they sell amazing desserts and ice cream. Come very hungry. The decor is nothing fancy but the food is really good. They also do party platters.

Fresh, high quality bagels, cream cheese, salmon etc, and other deli staples. Very NY feel to the place. Next time you're having company spend the night, nip over that day and pick up a half dozen bagels, some cream cheese and some nova salmon. Even bagel snobs will be impressed. They also have a crazy array of pastries and serve regular deli fare which I've had, and is good stuff, but to me the highlights are the bagels and trimmings. Often packed early in the day and for lunch.

I ordered a takeout of tuna melt on a poppy seed bagel with cheddar. Not toasted. I received a toasted pile of mush on a bagel with cheddar. You could not distinguish the tuna on your tongue, it was just consistent mush. Coleslaw on the side. No napkins no silverware. Since I sent in my brother to get the takeout perhaps he missed the counter for the condiments. But why not tell the customer to get silverware and napkins? I ate one half of the bagel and threw out the rest of the bagel, pickle and coleslaw because I couldn't eat it without silverware or the need to wipe my hands. I am leery to go back.

This morning was my first time eating at this place. It's very nice. It's a bit of a drive, so I don't know how often I'll be in, but it has a lot going for it. Except for the strange paintings of people with bagels for heads that are running around all over the restaurant. Also, this is the kind of place where you want to have an idea of what you'll be ordering when you get to the counter. After placing your order you'll be given a number to put on your table and can go sit to wait on your bagel. Service was quick, even though it was pretty busy (although, I guess it doesn't take very long to toast and spread cream cheese on a bagel). If you use a credit card to pay, it takes a few moments, I think they only have one machine. The clientele was a mix of people, all of whom looked like they had just rolled out of bed, put on sweatpants and had made their way to bagel city. Good for them, I say.

So, we really wanted to try out Ize's down the street but we were were having a slow Saturday and didn't make it in time before they closed at 4. So, Bagel City it was. As a first-timers we were pretty overwhelmed by the massive menu and bizarre decor circa 1982. Where to begin? We spotted our usual standbys and ordered. I had a turkey and BF ordered the Tuna Surprise. For the love of God.....it took forever for our food to come out! They had about 10 employees milling around back there. What were they doing? When our order finally arrived, everything was there and it looked pretty good. We left full and satisfied. Not sure we'll go back in a rush as it was kind of pricey and the service sub-standard.

Turkey pastrami on an everything bagel with lettuce onion and gulden's brown mustard. What more could you ask for? Ok, so service isn't all that great, and the decor hasn't been altered since 1987, but they serve a great bagel and that's what's important here. It's a fun Friday night stop, provided you can get there before 8PM. Have a quick sammy for dinner and pick up breakfast for Saturday morning. They also carry a nice selection of Bagel accoutrement, including chopped liver, cream cheese selection galore (light walnut raisin being a particular fave), Nova lox, smoked salmon, whitefish salad etc.. etc... etc..

i like bagels. i like cream cheese. i like places in walking distance of my apartment. Bagel City (or "Bag City" as we refer to it since the bulbs in the E and L are most often blown out) has decent bagels, good cream cheese and is right across the street for me. the place is super busy and service is really slow on weekend mornings but if you're just looking to grab a dozen bagels and be on your way, you can get in and out relatively quickly. they also have a large variety of sandwiches and such. i've only ever had the "health nut" bagel sandwich which i love (and i'm far from healthy). i'm sure everything else is pretty good too.

    (3)
  • C. B.

The bagels are pretty good to top notch, depending on the day and the flavor your order. Deli basics like bagels with cream cheese, sandwiches, and cookies are also pretty good. Though some people aren't fans of the decor, I find the kitsch fun. After all, this is the type of place you go for a cheap, fast sandwich or snack.

what's up with the 2-3 stars?? i admit this isn't the best damn bagel in the world, but the food they serve is good and the coffee is fresh. a quick stop in before the daily grind is ideal for me. the front desk ladies are awesome and they know what the hell they are talking about. i order the lox and bagel sandwich and its HUGE, DELICIOUS and a good price for the amount of lox they put on the bagel. when it get's busy it's a little crazy and noisy, but what do u expect?? they really stress the JEWISHNESS of these bagels, i guess it gives them some authentic-ness of the whole bagel..but whatever..let them jew it up in there if they want to. alls i know is they are GOOD, FAST and EFFICIENT. will be back FO SHO!

Decided to stop in bagel city today for a late lunch. the place is pretty nice looking, sercice was friendly and helpful. But, bagels are small, lacking toppings (I got the everything) and overall just not that impressive. May go back again, but wont be for some time.

I get a chuckle every time I read reviews about bagels from outside NYC being compared to ones from NYC when the reviewer isn't even from there! In the 18 years I spent growing up in NYC with these wonderful round blessings from heaven, the bagels produced at Bagel City come far from NYC bagels. During my first two or three visits to this place, I ordered egg sandwiches on bagels. Each time, I was disappointed with the sandwich because the eggs weren't that good. Therefore, I didn't have much to say about the bagels themselves. During my last visit to this place, I ordered a bagel with butter and one with vegetable cream cheese. And it became quite apparent that a simple buttered bagel wasn't very good from this place. So they aren't even producing good bagels. The only bright spot Bagel City has to offer is the cream cheese. The cream cheese is very comparable to NYC cream cheese. In conclusion, I would probably get anything but bagels from Bagel City. I recommend you go down to Ize's Bagels down Rockville Pike. They produce NYC bagels.

  • Inga N.

Yes, I am definitely a fan, and go there all the time. However, I must say - they are not consistent. Depending on who is preparing your bagel I guess - it'll be undertoasted, and next time you come there you'll ask to toast it better, and it'll come charred, and another time it would be toasted just fine. Analogously with melted cheese, etc. I still feel that my positive experiences there outweigh the negatives. The bagels are tasty. I don't know better ones in the area. The ambiance is nice. Spacious and clean. I don't like the ambiance at Ize's - it's cramped. Bagel City is a nice and relaxing place for brunch. I would give it 3.5 stars.

  • Danielle L.

Exactly what the stars option says: "meh. I've experienced better." It's got a varied menu and parking. Lots of good bagels. But what's so hard about cooking the eggs (for a bagel, eggs, & cheese) on a grill versus nuking them in the microwave? And why do I have to go to the counter to ask for a spoon, and get a look like the person asked is deciding whether I merit one? Also, the bagel sandwich price is very good, but if you want sides, like bacon or a potato pancake, it adds up. Finally, the coffee is bland and the place needs a cleaning with one of those pressure washers. I'd go back to pick up some bagels. I'm not sure that i'd stay to eat something more complicated.

I have been satisfied eating here for decades, but today my husband and I went for lunch and everything has changed. I think the ownership has turned over and I don't like what we've experienced. We ordered and it took 20 minutes to get our sandwiches. My husband's was missing tomato and mine was missing cheese. Worse was that there were 10 small pieces of hard plastic (white) in the sandwich. When we went to the manager/owner to complain, he didn't let me talk and gave me a lecture on how tired and overworked the employees are and said that they are human and make mistakes. He was totally not contrite, in fact when I said that I wouldn't come back, he said, "Good! I don't want customers like you." As I was leaving he mumbled under his breath, "I hope you have a heart attack!" I could have misheard this but I don't think so.

I was walking by this place while shopping and noticed the great reviews on the window. I was intrigued by Sean T.'s endorsement of this place as well. I ordered an egg sandwich on a bagel. It was gross. There were onions on the inside of the bagel, hidden. They tasted old and rancid. I couldn't eat it anymore after I discovered the onions. I went on to enjoy the famous potato pancake that they gave me. After I took a bite, I noticed a hair on my plate. I was very upset and spit my food out. I now disregard all of Sean T.'s endorsements as this place was disgusting.

We went here for breakfast and were surprised that they didn't really have a great selection of breakfast sandwich bagels. It seems to have more lunch time bagel sandwiches. What we got was fine and they give you a knish and small container of applesauce, which was cute. The only real negative was the girl taking our order was so rude and short with us. It was like we were bothering her and that attitude seemed to be consistent with other costumers. I might go back to try a sandwich for lunch.

Bagel City. What can I say. Not for nuthin' but their bagels are good! Not great but good. The place is like a NYC bodega reversed and married to a diner. You walk in and you basically have a little grocery section with drinks, spreads, chips, cookies, etc. It seems a little out of place. Ordering can be an adventure as well. It typically goes something like this. "I'll have a toasted everything bagel with nova spread with tomato and onion". Response: "what was that? Tomato? You want two bagels? One toasted, one with onion bagel?" "No, one everything bagel, toasted with nova spread, tomato and onion" "You want the spread or lox?" "spread". "Ok, $7.35" [or something like that price]. "For the spread?" "I thought you wanted lox?" "no" "ok". You take the ticket, wait a few minutes and your tasty bagel is ready and to their credit they have never messed it up. They have a large selection of packets of condiments and ample seating in the main dining room. I usually take the food to go. Avoid the coffee. It tastes like it has been sitting around for hours. Take the advice of others and go to Starbuck's across the street. All-in-all worth a try.

I actually liked this place. I'm not sure what's up with people who review bagel places and then say their bagels are bland. Seriousy? It's just bread, which is why you add toppings. Think about it. Did my bagel jump up and give me a kiss on the way down my gullet? No. But the menu is pretty diverse and there's enough for you and your boo to get whatever you have a taste for and be satisfied. This is a great place for a "Hangover Breakfast". Not that I was hungover or anything. God no.

Very delicious bagels but not a lot of seating! The fight for tables gets a little vicious on the weekends but the eggwich makes it all worthwhile. This place has good Jewish deli written all over it! Awesome bagels. Tasty whitefish salad. Fresh OJ. Yum!

ahhh love this place!!! this Jewish bakery tucked away in a strip mall is the place to go!!! From a gigantic bagel for $99 that serves up to 20 people... to their cinnamon walnut regelach( DROOLS), which is a must buy for me!!!.. assorted cookies.. pastries... bagels..and sandwiches! This is a must go to spot for me anytime I'm in the area.. mmm I wish they shipped!!

From coast to coast, HANDS DOWN THE BEST BAGEL OUT THERE. I've lived in New York and Los Angeles, and grew up in Montgomery County, MD. Los Angeles doesn't know what a bagel is. The New York bagel is usually heavy and doughy. Bagel City is perfect and flavorful. Its a great addition to any sandwich, rather than being the actual sandwich. Unlike many places, they always seed BOTH SIDES of the bagel- so there is never an inferior side. The black and white bagel is out of this world and not even offered in most places. They're cream cheeses are exceptional-- veggie being my favorite. They even offer a light version, which still has lots of flavor. And lastly, its always a nice plus that they have the stellar pastry section and great tuna salad/chicken salad, etc. Whenever I'm in town, its a must visit for me!!

The food is good - and the bagels are great but the service is horrid - it is so slow and painful that is has just gotten intolerable for me and the food just isn't worth my time. I go to Izzy's now the bagels are just as good and the the service is 90% faster.

Whenever I'm in Rockville, this is where I go for bagels. They're much better than most of what you can find in the area. I've gotten both everything and salt. Nothing mind blowing, but a good, decent bagel. Their coffee isn't bad either (but, notice, I didn't say it was GOOD exactly...)

A bagel landmark in the DC area, and a diamond in the strip mall rough of Rockville. Best bagels ever? No, but DC isn't really a bagel town, and Bagel City is among the best of the bunch. Some of the best veggie cream cheese I've ever had, big chunks of vegetables in it, just the way I like it. Also, very good pastries! Rugelach is great, so is the black and white cookie. If you're looking for lunch in Rockville, why go anywhere else?

I had an eggwich thing, which wasn't particularly good, but the bagel chips and the bagels themselves are pretty good. The clientele here is on the odd side, as is the decor, but I'm not sure you're going to do much better for bagels in Rockville.

I really really really wanted to love Bagel City, it has everything thing I wanted and expected out of a bagel institution of Rockville. I walked in expecting my mind to be blow, the atmosphere is a bustling busy deli full of families kibbitzing over bagels, lox, gefilte fish... On the weekends there is always a long line, its lively, its loud, there are kids all over the place. Only one problem, the bages just aren't that great. I gave it to few tries thinking that maybe I had a bad experience. Their bagels just seem to be really dense and heavy, when to me at least, a bagel should be light, squishy chewy and a crispy outside, Bagel Citys were more like a heavy bread. Not awful, just not a great bagel. I was much happies with Izzie's down the street.

Party Platter for Xmas--beautiful presentation--tasted great--prompt delivery. Have never actually eaten *in* the place but from their catering party platter alone i am a fan

We love bagel city and live very close by so we go often. They have fantastic pizza bagels and the atmosphere is nice. We also really like their basked goods!

I have had nothing but pleasant experiences with Bagel City's catering in the past, which is why I was caught by surprise by by my experience today. Every year my office orders a breakfast spread. This year I noticed that the quantity was much smaller than last year. We ordered for 35 people and was taken a back when our platter only came with 26 bagels and the same number of mini-muffins and pastries. I order for a smaller number of people than we have in our office, because in the past I was counseled by Bagel City's catering depart that the portion size was larger than one per person. When 26 bagels were delivered, I called to speak with the catering representative and was meet with an unsatisfactory response. They basically said it was my fault that I had more people than what I ordered for, that the portion size had not changed from year to year, and that there were in fact 35 bagels, because that's what the order sheet said. you know what, I learned my lesson, I will not order from Bagel City ever again.

Coming from the bagel desert of Texas, I found this place a welcome relief for my pent-up cravings. The bagels may not live up to the memories of my New York chilldhood - I'll never forget the taste sensation of bagel and lox (forget the cream cheese) before rushing off to the Columbus Day parade on 5th Ave - but that standard is almost bound to disappoint, and the reality is bagels generally are not what they used to be. A sign of the times is a previous reviewer's complaint that bagels in this place are dense and heavy, as they should be, rather than "soft and squishy", as they have mostly become after entering the American mainstream. Bagel City in Rockville serves bagels that are satisfying and reasonably authentic.

I have nothing against Bagel City, but I think they seem a bit more large scale and commercial than the charm you can find for a slightly better product at Ize's down the street. Don't get me wrong, the bagels are good and there are a ton of bakery items to choose from as well. Bagel City just lacks the neighborhood feel I like in a bagel shop. As far as meals go, they are fairly good and there is plenty to choose from. I favor the roast beef, but I would opt out of getting their sandwiches served hot, it seems to make the bagels a bit soggy.

The Best Bagels in Maryland in my opinion. The garlic bagels are phenomenal. I always come here for breakfast. The bagel eggwhich with cheddar is my favorite. The veggie cream cheese is also really good.
