I personally do not like Bill Bateman's night life. It is WAY too crowded for a restaurant. I feel like they need to either separate the restaurant and the bar better or decide which they'd rather want. I can not eat dinner there because I literally have to scream in order for the person next to me to hear them. If I were to go to Bill Bateman's I would rather do so in the afternoon. Their food has gotten a lot better over the years, and their crap soup is great! They have decent drink specials and sometimes great beer on tap. If Bateman's was only a restaurant at day and only a sports bar at night I'm sure I would love it a lot more!

Came here for lunch after running errands. Figured Bateman's would be good especially since I remember having great times at the Towson location. -Friendly service -It was pretty much a ghost town when we got there, so we were seated right away -food was straight forward...no frills -Cream of crab soup was more like a bisque sprinkled with crab. It was thick and creamy..not too much flavoring. The crab tasted like it was taken straight from the can and sprinkled on top of the soup. Nothing to write home about, but definitely served its purpose for filling me up while I was out and about.

HOW TO GET PERFECT BEER AND WINGS: Get a growler from Bateman's. Then get it filled up with Loose Cannon or 60 Minute. Go home and order delivery wings from Pizzatown. Absolutely perfect!

I have been a patron of this establishment for the past 10 years. Last night is the last time I will be coming in. An off duty employee spit on the floor, inches from my foot. I spoke up and stated to him that it was not right for him to do such a thing. A verbal altercation ensued and the manager ended up kicking me out. I reported this to the health department as it is obviously a health issue.

We love this place. Customer service is usually always good and so is the food. The establishment t always appears clean... even the bathrooms. The only thing I can say is that the mixed drinks taste like juice... Although they say alcohol is in it you sure can't taste it. I can't think of anything bad food wise that we have gotten we love their seafood quesadillas, crab dip 79 cent wings, and the atmosphere. This is a good place to go during game season... Everytime we go to the manager stops by the table to see how everything is which is a good plus.

I've been to this place off and on since it opened in Reisterstown. I run hot and cold with it. The food and the service isn't always consistent. I sometimes felt that because we had kids and weren't drinking that we didn't get the best service. Could be in my head .... I think the older I get the quieter I want my restaurants to be. Now that's sad.

How can this place even be open? My brother lined up a month and a half ago to have a wedding rehearsal dinner here on a Friday evening for about 30 people. We arrived around 830pm and the place was 95% empty except the bar. They had the back room set up for us. Drinks took forever to get. I ended up having my one drink the entire 2 hours I was there. The service and food were HORRIBLE. Only thing that was okay was the wings all other food arrived in shifts and was ice cold. I ordered the $15 quesadilla that had crab meat, crab dip, and shrimp in it. See attached pic. Arrived ice cold, barely any cheese, no crab dip on it, did not really see any crab on it, only a few shrimp.... all for $15. Seriously? Husband got a burger and fries, luke warm burger ice cold fries and came out 15 min after my food. Everyone's food ended up coming out cold and took a long time over an hour. Complained about the horrible cold food and the manager came out to speak to us. That manager, was a girl, not once apologized for anything or acknowledged that the food should not have been like this . Knowing a large party was booked they should have had more staff. Barely saw our waiter, cooks obviously could care less about the food they put out, and management was of no use. Our entire group of 30 all stated we will never ever return here. It's not even like the rest of the restaurant was busy either it was empty there and I guess we all know why. What was once good food years ago at Bill Batemans is far gone. This place needs to close. The bar must only be whats keeping them open.

The restaurant was not even full and the kitchen was backed up to far. After waiting over an hour for a salad, my friend and I had to go somewhere else

I think for the past several years it has been the bar crowd that has kept this place afloat. The restaurant area has really seen a dip in patronage over the past few years. I like the concept of a local Baltimore-themed sports bar and pub, but in the end its just another nondescript sports bar in a nondescript suburban shopping center, with just average food and the same drink selections and specials that can be found just about anywhere. However, it seems that some of their other metro Baltimore area locations might be doing a bit better than the Reisterstown one.

Not my favorite place for wings but they aren't bad. They have pared down their ridiculously huge menu into something much more manageable. Had a bartender tell us not to bother with the cream of crab soup - that was amusing. The crab pretzels are delicious, as is the crab dip. The Cowboy Wrap is a favorite - packed with flavor and very filling. Also love the Chesapeake fries. Very much a locals hangout and a great place to watch the O's. AND they have both Smithwicks for my Heart and Angry Orchard for me - On Tap !

I used to come to Bateman's quite often several years back when I lived in the Owings Mills area. The place is really suitable as a divey sports bar only but I wouldn't recommend it as a restaurant for any reason. A few years back the place was in rapid decline with worn old stained carpet, filthy bathrooms and rickety booths and tables. I will say they have made some nice updates. The bathrooms are less dirty but still not really clean. Better than what you've find a true dive bar, worse than what you'd find a chain restaurant. The old carpets have been torn out and new hardwood like flooring put in. Much nicer aesthetics but same old mediocre food and service. Bateman's is bar despite it's attempts to be a "Bistro". The bar area is large with plenty of area to stand, sit or host events. The beer selection on tap is one of the better ones in the NW Bmore suburbs. Resurrection, Flying Dog, Dogfish 60 min, etc join all the other mass produced piss waters that are featured in various signage across the establishment. Arrive at the tail end of a happy hour, weekend night or prior to a holiday and you will find drunk, stumbling and obnoxiously loud folks. In the past, burgers are decent, anything deep fried is tolerable and of course their "famous" wings are serviceable. Nothing outstanding but come into Bateman's expecting this and looking to drink with friends, have some average bar food and you will be fine. This leads me the story of my triumphant return to Bateman's that has finally sworn me off the place for good. Its kinda long so skip to the TL;DR if you don't want the dirty details. Our party of 4 arrives around 8pm to a packed house due to a Ravens player hosting a radio show. We find a table in the bar area and the waitress takes about 5 minutes to acknowledge us. She takes another 5 or so to come back to take our drink order and we ask for menus. At this point, no worries since we know the place is busy and she seems to be running around. Drinks come by about 10 mins later and no menus. She runs off before we can remind her. After another 5 minutes, we flag a busboy down to get a couple menus. Waitress returns to check on us after about 15 minutes after we get the menu, asks if we were good on drinks. We say we're fine and she turns to take off. We catch her and say we'd like to order food. At this point it is about 8:45pm when we place our order. The Ravens player's show is over and the place is starting to empty and the place ends up about half full. Around 9:30pm, the waitress comes up to us and asks us to tell her what we ordered again since there was some food sitting and she thinks it was ours. We tell her and she says "Yeah I think that's it". Hooray heat lamp warmed food! Nope, we should only be so lucky. She comes back about 5-10 minutes later and says that they're working on our order. So was it ever put in? She had come around once prior to 9:30pm and told us that our food should be up soon. What was the deal with the food that was sitting? Up until this point we were irritated but hey it was busy around the time we ordered, maybe the kitchen was backed up...now we're not sure what the issue is. So it gets better, while we wait some more, we had to repeat a request for another round of drinks. The mixed drink we ordered was made incorrectly. Since our waitress is coming by as often as Halley's comet, we take it directly to the bar and say what we ordered and what is in it that is not correct. Bartender takes the drink and remakes it the exact same way...lovely. One of our party decided to keep track of how long it took from when we RE-ordered to when we received the food. 41 minutes later, our food comes out. Burger that was ordered well done has pink in the middle and appears medium, borderline med-well. Sliders were brought out without cheese on them. Everything including the fries and wings are all lukewarm at best. Clearly the food was sitting for a while. For those playing along at home, we ordered at 8:45ish and we receive cold incorrect food at 10:15ish. This is a momentous occasion fellow Yelpers. Bateman's has busted my "I need to see manager" cherry...at least in a bad way. I've asked for managers for great service before but I'm pretty patient and usually service or food is never bad enough that I need to go that route. To be fair, the manager was apologetic, comped all the food and offered to remake or get anything else. At that point, I was done and I didn't really want give them another shot or eat what was there. We finish up, pay for our drinks and hit Wendy's on the drive home. TL;DR: Poor service from server and bar; waited approximately 1 hour and 30 mins for cold and incorrect food. Ate delicious Wendy's instead.

The steam shrimps here were awesome- the beer was not over powering and did not taste like they were boiled in water and Butter Turkey sliders are served on Cut up bread loaves as opposed to the traditional potato rolls this adds some flavor. MORE IMPORTANTLY ITS CHEAP

I feel inclined to bump this place back up to a 3. We hadn't been in a month or two and were pleasantly surprised with the improvement in service when we went back last time. Instead of one waitress attempting to do the entire bar area, there were several waiters, waitresses and busboys and it didn't take 30 minutes for a drink or an hour for food. Food also is back up to a 3 since my last order was actually 100% correct AND didn't taste like crap, yay!

Avoid this location at all costs!!! Food is not prepared from fresh it is all mostly from frozen. Most orders are done one way. If you ask for a variation they do not know what to do or refuse to do it......even when the place is empty and its just you and your friend. This is not a family friendly location. If you are not at the bar ordering drinks then service to you is secondary and you are made to feel like you are in the way and not welcome. .....again.....Avoid this location at all costs!!!

Bill Batman's is an interesting local sports-themed bar-food chain, with the quality of the offerings quite variable by locale. The Severna Park and Bel Air locations are decent as bar-food goes. The Chartley venue leaves much to be desired. Up and down Reisterstown Road, there are many better choices. Here is why. Early on a Sunday evening, a venerable, neighboring crab-house was packed with a 45 minute wait. Bateman's, around the corner, was completely empty, save for a handful of bar patrons. We quickly learned the reasons: Cleanliness - "Dingy" is the word that comes to mind. You could not put your finger on it, but one had the distinct sense the Health Department inspector would be busy. Part of it was the decor, the chipped Formica of the tables, the dirty stickiness of the bathroom floor. At least the silverware seemed clean. The "Restaurant Impossible" guy would be entertained here (not). Wings - Bateman's promotes its Wings. Ours came in a basket with a puddle of grease at the bottom. We were offered a single small container of bleu cheese dressing for dipping, and no celery. Our waitress, civil enough, clearly and emphatically explained the house policy that additional bleu cheese containers would entail an extra charge. That screams of unnecessary frugality. Entrees - Extremely salty, unspired, gigantic portions of humdrum bar food. The biggest baked, sweet potato any of us had ever seen. My son hated "The Crunch" burger for the strange sauce with which it came. He usually devours dishes like this. Recommendations for this venue and maybe the chain - Keep the tables, chairs and floors and bathrooms bright and sparkling clean, dial back the portion sizes, update the decor and don't wear your frugality (bleu cheese policies) on your sleeve. There have to be better ways for restaurants to turn a dollar. We'll never be back. Shame, too.

This is by far the worst place in Reisterstown. Do not come here. You will surely be disappointed. The servers/staff are just incompetent. If you want to watch a bunch of knuckleheads come here and video tape. My family and I came to this place 4-5 times. All of them were a disaster. They mess up the order completely, the food is cold, they over charge for items, the food takes an hour to come, etc. We even have 50 dollar gift cards to this place because of just the awful things that of gone on. We refuse to use them because we don't want to step foot in the door.

Hi Folks, would you like to meet the worst bartender ever? Sure you may say? Just go to this place, it had a terrible attitude.. However the good news is my wings were very good.i wish I could tell you his name..

The place is split in half--sports bar in the front, restaurant in the back. I was there for a family dinner a few months ago. I've been there many times in the past and have not liked the food. This visit was no different. The staff is very friendly & helpful--both stars are for them!

How do i give 0 stars? Food was awful! Manager says the rockfish is fresh, but taste freezer burnt and looked pre-packaged. Tasted as though it should be flushed. My girlfriend had the chicken Chesapeake. The chicken was so tough that im certain that it was once chased by a t-rex. The manager noticed that we were disgusted and suggested we try the ribs. He and the waitress made a point to say the other crap was comped.... Uh, yeah! Should have just left. But we tried to give them a chance. Tasteless mush of ribs arrived with the wrong sides but i just wanted to leave! Avoid this dump at all cost. Also, the place reaks of cigarette smoke. Waitress was nice and beer was good. One of the app plates was dirty too.

A lunch with the in-laws late on Sat. afternoon. A long wait for food really ruined what was a very nice lunch. The crab cake sandwich was awesome. Such a shame to have a slow kitchen and inconsistent service ruin it all. Where was the adult supervision? The bar was pretty full, maybe that's all they care about.

Keep up the good work batemans!!! Keep serving raw wings..pretty sad.. It's chicken wings not filet mignon... Learn how to cook .

Very nice service at this bar. Lots of food and drink specials. If only the food were as consistent as the service. We had Jamaican jerk tenders that were burnt along with a horribly overcooked steak. They were very accommodating though and remade the entree. I will give this place another shot.

Decent food, but the service is slow at times. The atmosphere makes up for everything, great place to watch a game.

I have been to Batemans at least 10 times as I live around the corner. I always seem to expect better when coming in, and when I leave I am reminded why I have not visited more often. On my last visit, it took our server 15 minutes to realize she had us a table. She forgot our drinks until after our appetizers had come out. Our entrees were served wrong and she apologized, but based on the dining experience and year in the business, I would expect at least an apology from the manager. I will make sure to not go back in the near future. To end on a positive note, they do have a great beer selection.

Was here for a Monday at lunch since I was craving wings. Surprisingly, they had AYCE for $9.99. I decided to have a Boh draft as well, which somehow ended up being $4.25. Well, I was very disappointed to say the least. The wings were okay, but the service was poor. Supposedly, the kitchen was backed up, it took us 30 minutes to get our order, and when I asked for a second helping I knew I was in for a delay. Of course I ordered another beer and for some reason they charge $0.75 for every bleu cheese you order with your wing refill. An hour and forty-five minutes later I had eaten about 18 wings, drank 2 beers, and spent 30 bucks with tip on a mediocre meal. I won't be back.

Despite any connotations assumed by "bistro", (tantamount to "brasserie"), I'd kept my prospects true at Bill Bateman's Bistro. By denotation a bistro's "a type of restaurant serving customers drinks with or without food". Truth be told, that's Bateman's. Truth also dictates it's a sports bar/pubby place full of sports bar/pubby patrons, pubby grub, a sports bar/pubby "canteen" with memorabilia plastered on it's sports bar/pubby wood paneled walls, and sports bar/pubby tellies about a rowdy sports bar/pubby saloon. I've had decent Mushroom Burgers with Swiss and Blue Burgers with onion straws & crumbled blue cheese, bacon, and tiger sauce. Not disappointing, but issues with the kitchen's discerning med-rare from rare occurred as burgers were more squishy than moist. The Crab Pretzel app's lovingly liberal with Old Bay and was a chewy, doable meal alone. It's crab dip heavy on flour. Baby Back Ribs a favorite when slathered in bourbon sauce. Old Bay Wings worthy. Beers on tap abound with Fosters, Guinness, New Castle, Stella, Blue Moon, Loose Cannon, Dogfish Head, Leinie, Heinie, and Resurrection represented. In a world where my prospects are relative & true, Bill's was workable. I just kept my head out of the clouds with my fellow sports bar/pubby patrons pounding crab cakes and quesadillas, (as a means of soaking up suds), amidst our sports bar/pubby truism.

I haven't had any problems with this place since I've been going but I usually am there for happy hour and the occasional lunch. As far as Batemans locations goes this one is on par. I like it better than Towson but it's still behind Fallston. Space is large, bar is pretty big. Happy hour specials are decent. $2 Resurrections on Wednesday. How you gonna argue that? Their crabcake platter has some filler but hey, they sling it for $10 on Wednesdays. Complain all ya want. If you're not gonna finish that then slide it over here. Tons of tv's for sport and, well, Fox news. This place seems to have a lot of regulars so that's a plus. I wouldn't pay $5 for a pint here but their specials are decent and regular enough that I am usually satisfied. Tip- don't stand in the eye-line of the keno players. They mean business.

I've been here off and on over the past few years. The place is fine, nothing fancy or special. They have Natty Boh on tap now (yay!!) so I feel more inclined to go here. The crab pretzel is also delicious.

So these were the best wings in Baltimore? If so, then I am severely depressed for our wing situation. I went for the all you can eat wing night. 9.99. For the money I was satisfied. The first wings came out, I got the bone in and they were over cooked and not very hot. I think for this night they cook them in big batches and not to order which I can understand. The first round you get 10 then each subsequent round you get 4. Which is fine, I finished 4 rounds. I will say that the buffalo flavored wings has absolutely NO heat. So if you like spicy, kick it up to Atomic. I loved the boneless old bay wings. Tasty indeed. Our waitress Leah was very kind and attentive. Good waitress. I will go back I think. While they certainly are not the best wings, I've had worse and I've had better. For 9.99 all you can eat. They are passable. I would like to try the wings on a non all you can eat night. I think they would be better cooked to order.

Terrible. All around. I wanted to enjoy what was suppose to be a nice dinner with old friends, but was really ruined due to the poor quality of food and how long the food took. Then, the food was wrong, not to mention. I ordered 3 different things and they were out of all 3. On top of that, our food took almost an hour. For a medium burger, a medium rare steak and the Texas nachos, I feel that it should not have taken close to an hour to receive. The restaurant smelled of marijuana, I never saw a manager, drinks took a very long time, and my burger and friends steak and nachos were way over cooked. I kept trying to flag down my waitress to talk to the manager, but it took a passer by of another worker there, to ask what he could do for me. I had asked to see the manager to discuss the poor food cooking, how the French fries tasted like they had been sitting out for hours, how the order came out wrong, and how I felt there was lack of authority in the establishment. The young man told me he would go grab the manager right away. Never did I see the manager in the extra 20 minutes I sat there waiting for him. My friends and I decided to leave. On the way out, the hostess at the front told us to have a great night and when I glanced over at her, I saw, what looked like to be, the managers office. Inside, I saw a gentleman, in a red collared shirt on his phone. He seemed to be texting or playing a game, which I could believe due to the fact I had not seen a manager in the entire 2 hour visit. I got the impression that that might have been the manager. From seeing this on my way out, I could completely understand why we had the experience that we did. Not recommended at all!

I have been here three times and the last time was the last time...im serious. Where shall I start...The bartender walked away with my friends license to check for authenticity but didn't even say why she was walking away with it. She came back and instead of handing it to her, she sat it on the counter. I ordered the crab skins which is supposed to be like potato halves with a crab mixture and melted cheese on top of it and I don't know what I got. The potatoes were so old that one of them was just about black underneath of the mixture. It was just bad, seriously. I didn't ask for my money back or another order, I just wanted to pay and have it be over with. I also ordered the fried shrimp which was ok, two shrimp were hot and three were cold...if they were all cooked at the same time...how did this happen? Also my friend who had her drivers license taken away ordered the chicken fingers...smh. One was literally black and a very dark brown, like it had black spots on it. I don't even want to go on, just save your time and money and go elsewhere. Leave this place to die out as it is already doing. No wonder with the food its serving and the poor service from the bartenders. SMH. Did I mention that they are slow as H*ll in there...its a shame.

This dump is no "Bistro". The only atmosphere there is a big bar. The food sucks. It tastes like it is frozen or canned. No flavor, and low quality. We wasted $40.00 getting crab cakes, french fries and a crab dip . Where was the crab meat ? They did not serve any rolls or butter. The Restrooms need to be over-hauled, they were dirty and smelly.

Good place to go watch a game. I like to go here on Saturdays during the football season so I can watch multiple college games at once. They sometimes have drink specials such as $2 bottles and a nice $5 bar menu with burgers and fries. If you are planning on watching a Ravens game, go really early or you will never get a seat.

I used to have a much higher opinion of Bateman's. It seems like the quality of food has gone WAY down and the service has as well. I took a friend there for dinner and I got prime rib. I realize it's not a steak house, but wasn't expecting Ruth Chris'. It was downright bad. It was tough and flavorless and the rest of the plate was just "eh". The service on both the restaurant and bar side is just plain SLOW. I went to the bar w/a date on a Tuesday night. There was hardly anyone there. My date and I sat there staring at the bartender & servers for 10 minutes before someone finally came over to take our order. It took 35 minutes for my date to get the chicken wrap sandwich he ordered. There was no excuse for it. I was embarrassed that I even suggested that we go there. I won't be eating there again, and the only reason I'd grab a drink there is because there aren't that many bars in the area. Pretty sad.
