I started coming to Java Mammas in 2006. They recently moved to a new, larger location. I have gotten hot/cold drinks here, along with food. It is a much more homely type spot vs. the corporate feel of a Starbucks. THE GOOD... -easy to park in private lot area -cafe sandwiches are good -drinks are good, especially during the winter holidays -plenty of seating -complimentary self-service water cooler THE BAD... -the use of styrofoam cups kinda negates the earth-friendly vibes Java Mammas gives off -took away the couches from the previous location...a new couch or two would have been nice -need more vegetarian/vegan food options on menu Overall I do like going to Java's...it is a quaint little spot that typically has consistent service. I find the good outweighs the bad...however, definite opportunities though to make it even better.
First of all, the cute little cozy house turned coffee shop is EVERYTHING. Decent food options for a pescatarian but who cares when they have a million beverage options.
Great local coffee shop that actually makes coffee to compete with Starbucks. Good breakfast too!!!! Try the breakfast burrito - my favorite. Scones and muffins too.

Amazing family after school spot, very friendly and knowledgable staff. Great flavors of Italian ice and many sweet options. Also close to Giant grocery store so as moms know they can knock everything out in about an hour or so. Good positive atmosphere! Can't wait to go back
My favorite place for Italian ice. The mango pineapple is my fav. Will always frequent this place when its hot especially. Never had a long wait at this location. Staff is always friendly.
What can I say... Rita's is Rita's! Their products are great! This location has a very friendly staff.

So good - much better than Rita's and plenty of parking & space to sit & enjoy your Italian ice. They do accept credit cards now but they do pass on the credit card fee to the customer.
First and LAST trip to the Cow. I ordered a hot fudge sundae - maybe if I had ordered an Italian ice, a cone or a milkshake, I would have had a more favorable experience. But I wanted a hot fudge sundae. A regular size hot fudge sundae with extra hot fudge, no whipped cream, no nuts or sprinkles. What was handed to me was a 6 oz flimsy plastic cup with about 2" of swirled vanilla custard on top of the rim of the cup, approximately another 1-1.5" vanilla custard below the rim, and then hot fudge in the bottom of the cup. The cup was so flimsy that gently holding it caused the custard to ooze up from the cup over the sides, onto my hands and clothes. Also, I have had sundaes all over the place, and I have never had a sundae that didn't have any toppings actually on top of the ice cream or custard. When my husband asked for a bigger cup so I could dump it upside down into it and actually get the hot fudge on top (and keep it from melting all over me) he was told that the owner does not allow them to give out cups. Well if (1) the owner had instructed his employees on the proper method to make a sundae, and (2) had not provided them with inferior products so that they could properly present the item ordered, the extra cup would not have been needed. I ended up scraping off onto the ground the 2 inches of custard above the rim and dealt with the mess below. Not sure where on earth she would have put the whipped cream that is supposed to come on a "sundae", if I had not told her to leave it off, it probably would have ended up on my lap! Much happier with DQ, Baskin Robins or Rita's - somehow they all have proper holders for their sundaes!
Almost every flavor of Italian ice here is so damn tasty! Leaps and bounds better than Rita's. I'm super sad I've moved out of the area. Definitely been missing their frozen goodness. A heads up: The last time I was there, they only took cash. Not sure if that's changed or not.

I love Genova's. Consistently good food. Great pizza- good subs and wings- generous salads - timely delivery - online ordering available!!! Love it - love it - love it
I'm sorry to say but one of my favorite, go to places is slipping. Always enjoyed the pizza and subs, but my last couple orders have been disappointing. Ordered a large pepperoni pizza and there was hardly any meat and the cheese/toppings had slid off into the corner of the box like a mud slide. The delivery guy must have not been very careful in keeping the box level. I should have returned it, but just ate it....the last time I ordered a cheesesteak sub with extra cheese which was prepared with hardly any cheese, when I returned it the manager put me through the ropes and argued that there was enough cheese after inspecting the sub!!!! Wasn't in the mood to argue my point again, especially with a place we order from almost weekly. Oh well, it appears they are cutting back on toppings now. Time for a new pizza joint...
Subs were really great. The bread is what makes it. Good takeout!

Szechuan Wok

Reviews:
"...And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil". - Matthew 6:9-13 The evil of severely subpar American-Chinese delivery, that is. Szechuan Wok ain't cooking up our coveted authentic Asian eats. They're the Holy Rollers of dine-in/carryout/delivery, wok sauteed, stir fried & filleted, only slightly slippery Americanized Chinese treats. Located in the Cherryvale Plaza near Aldi's. The menu's varied though you won't find anything too unfamiliar, extravagant or "exotic". Items include seafood, beef, lamb, chicken, vegetarian dishes, and soups including the sinus draining Hot & Sour soup ($1.80 pt). And 4 fried chicken wings ($5.95) seemingly seasoned with Asian spices served with either white or fried rice. Their Pork Lo Mein ($6.50 pt) is a personal addiction. Sweet, tender cuts of roasted pork, plentiful noodles with robust taste & texture, fair amount of 'shrooms & chopped onion. Maybe a lil fatty on the meat here & there, but that's the flavor, no? The Shrimp Egg Foo Young ($9.50 qt) can be heavy on the human gastrointestinal tract. Both dishes lean towards the greasier side of life. Not drenched. Still good. Portions on all meals are generous. And while the Crabmeat Wonton app ($5.95 for 6) can be tender in the middle it's recently become too "crisp", (i.e. hard), on the edges & heavier on the cream cheese than the crab. But the BBQ Ribs ($6.25 for 6) with sesame sauce never let me down. Of course, General Tso ($7.50 sm) is here. And the saucy devil's way more spicy than sweet. "And it was...good." -Genesis 1:31 It's not gourmet fare, but delightful. I've certainly found no reason to recite a Hail Mary or three to cleanse my soul from the guilt of eating inauthentic. The Wok's a comfy, yummy ritual of mine when craving familiar dishes of the AmerAsian persuasion. And no MSG. Free delivery within a 4 mile radius in under 45 minutes with a $10 minimum for lunch and a $15 minimum for dinner. "With most American-Chinese dine-in/carryout/delivery above average fare is impossible; but to Szechuan Wok things are possible". -Matthew 19:26 (kinda) Preach it, Szechuan Wok. Preach it. 3.5 stars overall
This has been a local Reisterstown favorite of mine for probably twenty years or more. The reason? They are pretty consistent with good solid Chinese carry-out style food. Sometimes when I'm hungry for a very casual Chinese dinner, I will go in, order, and sit down at one of the tables in the back and eat there. Very extensive menu. I love the chicken vegetable wrap. They also have a sushi bar, which is more for show because I have not seen anyone sit there for years. The sushi is adequate to have with the meal, although I would not seek this place out if all you want is sushi.
This is some of the best Chinese food in Owings Mills. They have really excellent orange chicken and tofu. The chicken lo mein is really good too. The crispy noodles are amazing. The atmosphere may be lacking, but the food is definitely amazing!!!! I love almost everything I order from here

Reter’s Crabhouse

Reviews:
My favorite place around Baltimore for crabs. Their Jumbos are the biggest crabs I've ever seen (when you can get them) and their larges are heavy and big. I like their custom blend of spices, and it's a great place to go for crabs. The crabs themselves aren't the cheapest around, but you get real value for your money--I've never ever been disappointed by the size and flavor of the crabs. That's something I can't say for ANY other crab house in the area. They have a good selection of oysters at the bar, and the waitresses are knowledgeable about how salty each kind is (which is helpful for when you aren't familiar with all the oysters they have). The blooming onion is good to start, and I've heard the crabcakes are quite good too, but I only get steamed crabs myself. For drink, they have a good selection on draft, and a few more in bottles. There are definitely some microbrews and I remember having some Backfin Ale with my crabs last time I went in. On the whole, Reter's is a fantastic choice place for crabs, oysters, and beer. The table service is as good as the food, and the waitresses are knowledgeable and very attentive. Mr. Reter himself is always around, and he runs a tight ship. 5 stars.
Arrived at 8 pm on a Monday. No waiting. Cheerful waitress. Ordered a dozen of crabs. Given a hammer, it was a hands-on experience eating these crabs. The crabs were good and they have decent selection of beers there. I enjoyed it, but I ended up paying $100 dollars overall (for a party of 3). My suggestion: this place is good but not great. Baltimore is famous for crabs but if you are not a particular fan of crabs, don't go.
This little place is the crab secret of Baltimore. Here I had my first Crab Feast EVER with my local girlfriend and her family over New Years. We ordered a dozen. Awesome service and atmosphere! Bright party like atmosphere so expect to have fun. Best tasting crabs! Better deals than the Inner Harbor. Great exchange deal for light weighted crabs. The gumbo is very different than the way I like it from New Orleans, so I wouldn't recommend that. We even had the margaritas, sampler plate, and more. Everything was great! Would go again!

I found this place by simply entering "Mexican Food"in the yelp search engine and I'm so glad I did! It's a great hole in the wall! I got the steak burrito supreme #2 and you could instantly tell every ingredient was fresh! They also have homemade Horchata which in my experience is hard to find and that to was excellent. If you're in the area and you want something different than Chipotle I highly recommend this place..I will be back!
Such a random spot. I can't even tell you where in the world this place is because my sense of direction is non existent. But the food was authentic and hot. I had fajitas he had papusas and a burrito. The guy next to is had a full fish head included. Impressive. They are also a big on deserts and catering. This place isnt much to look at and its only about 6 tables but that shouldn't deter you from coming and getting a good bite to eat
Looking for good El Salvadorian food in the Owings Mills area? This is the spot! Great food, good prices. Family atmosphere. The flank steak with shrimp is yummylicious. Yeah I made that word up. No alcohol served here though. The food is would be great with a cerveza or 3 at the very least. The food is cooked fresh to order so expect a reasonable wait. All four courses available and I have yet to be disappointed.

Reisterstown Family Diner

11613 Reisterstown Rd
Reisterstown, 21136
Reviews:
During my life I have been to several diners that were okay, but not worth many visits, such as the Double T Diner. Thus far, Reisterstown Family Diner is one that I attend more often. I haven't been to competing diners in years because of lack thereof. Maybe food items/preparations are better these days but I stray away from other local diners. This is still open for discussion!! Eating at RFD started as a nervous adventure as the "pancake house" down the street was packed since it was National Pancake Day. I was skeptical and the menu is large, so I became confused of what to order? Something out of the ordinary or should I order something I am used to eating and compare how I like it to other restaurants. It took me forever because I was scoping the place out and trying to eyeball other customers food as it came to their tables. I felt fat. I ended up ordering the open face turkey and gravy over bread, side of cranberry sauce, a choice of two vegetables and soup or the unlimited salad bar for $10.99. I got mixed veggies, french fries and the salad bar option. My friend ordered three pancakes, scrambled eggs with American cheese, bacon and paid extra for sausage. The sausages were different compared to any Bob Evans type, they weren't our favorite but they were big. The salad bar has bowls resting on ice to keep the bar fresh, it is fresh and crisp too. It had the basics like lettuce, mixed lettuce, grape tomatoes, green peppers, cucumbers, carrots, a collection of housemade concoctions filled in the gaps, and the dressings most people love. I tried a few of their pasta concoctions and one was bland, one didn't taste how I expected it to and another was made with blue cheese dressing (the one I liked). They even have cottage cheese for those that enjoy it, ugggh not me! The food arrived in a timely manner and the waitress stated that she wanted to bring it as it was ready. I appreciated her doing so to ensure we had hot, fresh food. We both thought the word "huge" when we saw our plates. Three huge, sweet smelling panniecakes, perfectly cooked bacon minus one burnt end, scrambled eggs n cheese and two long, weird looking sausages. The pancakes needed their own plate that's how big they were. Fluffy and scrumptious. The eggs could have been cooked a second longer but no one got sick. The sausages were some unknown creations but they were scarfed down too. No complaints on the baon unless you dislike burnt pieces on your bacon. My turkey was piled high and I thought the gravy was going to fall off the plate and burn the waitress. She got lucky! The turkey was white meat. The bread underneath tasted like rye bread turned into stuffing. It hit me by surprise with the burst of flavor like stuffing (the picture showed in the menu looked like white bread). The mixed veggies were super fresh broccoli, cauliflower and a couple slices of carrots. I mean fresh like out the market and I know lots of chain restaurants that don't even do that. The french fries oh wow I love them. Crunchy, fresh, good flavor, better than all fast food fries. Yum! Someone please tell me what brand they are using??!! Walking out the door you'll see the case with cakes and pies. They easily grab your attention because as I said they are huge too. Not sure whether it is fresh made in house, maybe someone else can be the judge? I saw cherry, apple, blueberry and a number of other pies. As well as, chocolate, carrot cake, cheesecake and a small list of other cakes, I couldn't identify everything. I will have to sample a piece or three on my next visit.
My new breakfast spot! I'm new to the MD area and I absolutely love the place and the ambience. My favorite is the bacon, egg and cheese on a croissant with a side of grits! Great service and everyone is friendly! If you're ever in the area, try them!
I love their breakfast. Excellent and fast service. I will recommend it to anyone. Delivery is really fast. It's a great family Resturant and it's a local spot for the locals that live around Reistertown/ owings mills area.

Great beer selection, Nice martinis. Food was better than expected. Had the Duke Burger and it was actually medium rare as ordered with good grill flavor. they make their own breads and rolls. We also ordered the Ruben and the BLT. both were very good. I would recommend a stop by.
Great little stop on the way to Baltimore... Food is fantastic... They have New Castle on tap which always makes me a fan! Girlfriend had the Grilled Cheese which has fresh tomato and basil on it. She said it was fantastic. I had the fried flounder which was great as well. Only wish I lived in the area to visit more often.
Very friendly and gracious service. The food was good (the only downside was my husband couldn't get his burger cooked medium rare, but everything else was good). Amazing cocktails & beer selection.
