A Tale of Two Buffets My girlfriend Amy and I recently double-dated at Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet. That is, we had date to double-dine at this all-you-can-eat franchise at both their original Parkville location on 2033 East Joppa Road and the newer chow palace across from Eastpoint Mall at 7911 Eastern Avenue in Dundalk. While they are basically the same, there are some subtle differences between the set-up and foods offered at the two locations. For example, at the Parkville location, you pay after your meal while at the Dundalk restaurant patrons pay up front and are issued silverware as they walk in. Also, I noticed that the Parkville waitresses all wear white blouses and black slacks with matching black vests - your standard Chinese restaurant garb, in other words. Dundalk's Chinese waitresses, on the other hand, wore solid black and were allowed more personal fashion flair with a decidedly punk edge (Lycra leggings, tattoos, hair coloring, clunky keychains, piercings) that made them seem - dare I say it? - downright sexy. They even had a token white girl hostess, with henna-colored hair, who looked like her second job might be managing a Hot Topic store. They sure were nice to the regulars here, giving them Chinese calendar wall scrolls. I had to ask our waitress for one, which I got only after complimenting her on her scorpion hand tattoo. I wanted to ask if it was a Chinese mafia symbol, but thought better of it. The food is pretty much your standard Chinese buffet fare, as far as selection goes, in both locations - which means lots of General Tso, honey, bourbon, and sesame chicken to choose from, plus many concessions to American cuisine (from ham and corn on the cob to all sorts of beef, cornbread, mac and cheese, and pizza choices), and a great selection of hot and cold fish (salmon, flounder, mussels, clams, and countless varieties of fried, steamed, black peppered, or coconut-dipped shrimps). Oh, and lest I forget, they both had those yummy buttered-and-salted potato skins that melt in your mouth. Both locations served sushi and the titular "hibachi grills," as well. However, the slightly bigger Parkville location had much better ice cream, dessert, and salad bars. Parkville Hibachi gets bonus points for offering romaine and radichio lettuce, while the Dundalk Hibachi only had bland iceberg lettuce ("The polyesther of greens" as John Waters calls it) and minimal toppings. (We passed on the salad bar!) Also noticeably missing from the Dundalk Hibachi desert bar were any semblance of nuts and, much to our disappointment, those delish heated Chinese sesame balls filled with bean curd. We also wouldn't have minded seeing some fried zucchini slices like the ones Parkville had; they reminded us of the fried zucchini from the old Haussner's restaurant. Amy pointed out that the Dundalk Hibachi also didn't have any prime rib, her favorite meat dish at the Parkville buffet. But there was one thing that only the Dundalk Hibachi Grill served and which, alone, made the trip worthwhile: collard greens. These slightly bitter, albeit buttery, leaves of crunchy soulfulness are to die for - and I almost did, going back for three heaping servings that bloated me with so much late afternoon tumescence (tom-escence?) that I had to go out later that night for a reluctant 5K run to air it all out! (TMI?)

Update: and my sister and nephew got food poisoning. Smh. Should have known. Nothing here looked or tasted fresh. I rarely give places bad grades but I saw nothing good about this place except the friendly server.

Good buffet, the food is always good. The service is on point though keeping cups full isn't very challenging they are always friendly. I do wish they had Crab Legs & Soft Serve, I would pay extra for that.

It's a good buffet. They have food ranging from sushi to fried chicken to Korean BBQ (bulgogi), to kimchi, to fresh fruit to popular Chinese dishes to baked pastries. Very diverse.

Good food, good deserts, good prices. It was super crowded but the wait was still very short. The actual restaurant is very attractive with neat decorations and clean bathrooms. However, it still loose two stars and here's why: IT'S LOUD. I don't know how they could fix that but they should. Also, while most of the choices are amazingly delicious a few are DISGUSTING so watch out. I'd go back.

Good deal for an Asian smorgasbord.

My Sis brought me here and told me that this has to be one of the best buffet restaurants she has ever been to, and she is right. This restaurant has a lot of selections. They have most of the food that I like: sushi, hibachi, fried zucchini, fried bananas, coconut chicken. Also unlike most buffet where they only serve one or two flavors of soft ice cream, here they serve real ice cream with eight flavors. Great place to "pig out" if you know what I mean. Just make sure you come here hungry to get your money's worth.

Finally going to review this place (probably first visit 2008?) It's not China, not Taiwan, not even New York- so to expect top of the line authentic chinese cuisine is to be a bit unrealistic. This place does what it does well; feed people. We have been here quite a few times over the years since first discovery of it. I started bringing my kids here when I was doing the "daddy weekends" after my divorce. I discovered that the buffett was the best way to satisfy (and entertain) two picky pre-teens when I was tired of playing short order cook. My daughter is gone now, RIP Cheyeane 1995-2013; my son is heading off to graduate school at LSU, good luck son, I know you will do well! I have brought my new wife here now three times; continuing the family tradition and making new memories. For a reasonable amount of money you can sample a bunch of different things (even when the flavors are oddly similar). The price is different for dinner (and a little steep if you don't eat crabs and such)- lunch is the much better value. I see people occasionally doing carryout (by pound/ounce?) that can't possibly be cost efficient. They have three "come back" things in my opinion. 1. "Sushi"- I throw in the quotations because this is a hit or miss thing. It's never 5 star Japanesen sushi restaurant special- but many times they put together some interesting and tasty little rolls. On those few occasions that they have the raw fish over rice variety, though sliced paper thin the fish seems fresh. 2. The namesake- Hibachi- You build your own plate of varied stuff and the guy grills it with some mystery sauces and oils. It's not any more complicated than that. They have a tip jar, I tend to throw the guy a buck. [As an aside, just a note on economics and the shifting workforce phenomena- when we first started coming the hibachi guy was Asian- they are now Latin- not a poltical or racial anti-immigrant statement (would be kind of dumb right considering the first guy was also maybe an immigrant). It's just one of those observations about the strata in a workforce. The wait staff are still perfect little copies of the same lovely young Asian girl who first worked in a place like this 50 years ago. 3. The octopus salad. Not so sure this is for everyone-but it works for me. It's just on the right edge of exotic and makes coming here different than other places like this. The quality varies (octopus supply I imagine)- but it is always tangy, a bit spicy and just salty gritty enough to feel organic.

I actually like this place a lot. My family and I go several times a year for occasions like my grandma or grandpa's birthday (suuuuuuper casual tradition of ours!). There's something here for everybody, and the food is decent. The best selections come from the sushi bar in the back and the hibachi grill where you can choose some different vegetables, meat, and starch which is cooked right in front of you. I also always enjoy getting the sesame glutinous rice balls filled with red bean for dessert. Don't expect anything amazing here, but if you're looking for a buffet, I would give this place a try.

Food is good at the grill and food bar. Floors and restroom seem dirty like their is new supervision. They are usually very clean.

I used to really like this place but after today's visit I will NEVER eat here again! They have employees working there that are obviously ill. Coughing and sneezing is not what I want with my food. It became so unbearable that we had to leave. There was no manager on staff and then they decided to say they will send her home. This is a serious health violation with all of the airborne diseases going around. Next stop...the health department and a refund! You've been WARNED...

Service was courteous and expeditious. Dirty plates were quickly removed & beverages replenished. Food No wait on the refilling of food items, clean plates always available, lots of variety and the most extensive of hibachi station I've ever seen. Hibachi station Shrimp, beef, pork, onions, mushrooms, egg, snow peas, noodles and several more veggies. And the hibachi cook, was actually smiling as if he were happy to cook for you. Sushi station, three soups to choose from, a salad bar, fried appetizers, chunked up fresh fruit (pineapple, kiwi, grapes, melon), steamed shrimp, mussels, desserts, 8 ice-cream flavors to choose from, stir fry veg chicken/meat, fried plantains, stir fried string beans, juicy mushrooms, beef, mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, pizza, General TSO's, fried shrimp, fried scallops, kimchee, ambrosia and much, much more. A buffet is a lot like shopping at Tuesday Morning or Home Goods - it's hit or miss. Luckily, with so much variety, if you don't like one item - there's ample to choose from and the service can't be beat.

This place is awful, we only visited because our go to buffet Rubys is closed fot renovations. Luckily i went for the lunch special and didn't pay the dinner price. The ingredients are cheap and the food is room temp. I don't care if you're on a budget there is no reason to fill up on this crap and get sick. The crab cake comes on a oyster shell and smells awful. There was a hooker with her client at the table next to ours and i thought maybe the smell came from that way, but it was definitely the crab cake. Avoid this place at all costs!

I've been to this Hibachi Grill several times, and it hasn't ever disappointed me. It's a typical Chinese food buffet restaurant with a few unique aspects. Last Saturday night, it was about as good as I remember. If you're very picky about the quality of your food, you may not enjoy it. Paying about $10 for an all-you-can-eat buffet on a Saturday night is a fantastic deal. A slightly smaller buffet is available at lunchtime for a few dollars less. It gets very crowded during prime times, but the wait usually isn't too long. The staff has always been friendly. There's just about every typical chicken dish you can think of, in addition to many other items (listed below). I haven't ever tried something that I really didn't like here. There's a sushi section which probably wouldn't appeal to sushi snobs, but I like it. I suppose a highlight is the made-to-order Hibachi section in the back. You get to choose the items you'd like, and a chef grills them in front of you (I haven't tried it). There are standard Hibachi items next to it that are already cooked. If you're hungry and not on a strict diet, check it out! Here are some things I can remember from the buffet: Chicken: General Tso's, sesame, pineapple, chicken and broccoli, BBQ, Hibachi, walnut, chicken teriyaki on a stick, sweet-and-sour, Thailand Soups: hot and sour, egg drop Rice: fried, white, and hibachi Seafood: pepper shrimp, stuffed shrimp, fried scallops, imitation crabmeat bake, stone crab legs, fried squid rings, cold octopus, and several varieties of sushi Other items: Beef and broccoli, ham, pizza, cheese wonton, "prime rib," fried fish, baked salmon Fruits/Vegetables: salad bar, fried plantains, buttery corn on the cob, pineapple, cantaloupe, sauteed mushrooms, cooked mixed vegetables Dessert: hard ice cream (several varieties), mini donuts, small pieces of cheesecake, chocolate and white cake

This place is my family's go to place, since it's rather close. To me, not a huge buffet fan, it's okay. The food is, well, greasy, the chinese food is made for americans, so it's not very authentic at all. This place is very loud, and you do see people with a plastic bag in their purse, dumping in a plate of food. And they do seat you depends what ethnic group you fall into. I find that a bit insulting.

I have been coming here for years, so this is a retrospective review of Hibachi Grill. Let me start by saying that this place is incredibly popular because of the value-to-quality ratio. On a Friday or Saturday night, you'd think they were giving out free cars. You'll wait for a bit to get a table. The best time to try this is any other evening, when you'll walk right in and be able to enjoy everything. What I Like: - They have the usual. "Chinese Food" classics, some American Cuisine classics, a full sushi bar, a full fruit and dessert bar, a ice cream bar, and a full hibachi grill. If you want to eat greasy, stick to your ribs food, it's here. If you want to eat healthy, that's here too. - Service, while shaky with their English, is fast and courteous. - The buffet is aggressively maintained. I don't recall seeing any empty options being empty for long. - Location is easy to get too off of Joppa road! and there is plenty of parking. What I Don't Like: - The quality of foods is pretty low, but not "3rd World Country" standards. For buffet experts, I'd say it's a notch below cruise ship caliber buffet foods. For example, you might grab some fried chicken dumpling for your sweet & sour chicken, only to find that most of it is batter, - It collects an eclectic crowd. Since it's cheap, a lot of people from different economic backgrounds can enjoy. Some of them don't always bath. Some of them have kids at the table and drop "F Bombs" very casually. Understand this, deal with it, you'll be fine. Can't hang? Stay away. - Bathrooms look like crap. Just dirty and banged up. Broken mirrors, etc. It's a buffet. The name of the game is pay a few small bucks and load up on calories. You can do that here and you'll enjoy the variety. For a better rating the Hibachi Grill would have to crank up the quality of its meats, and the service would have to slow down a bit (they seem very rushed, which is fun when they speak broken English).

Hibachi Grill is a local place for me and my husband to go to when we are low on ideas and budget. Not because it's a poor place to eat, but because it's not exactly the healthiest establishment around. The quality of the food fits the price tag, so if you're looking for a luxe meal you'd be better off somewhere else. They offer quite a few varieties of Chinese (the Americanized greasy version) and Asian cuisine along with a full salad and dessert/fruit bar). I usually start with the salad bar, meander on over to the seafood, then straight to the sushi and end with a couple of Chinese options. The sushi is most likely "fresh" out of the frozen package, but for the price it's not too shabby. My fave part of this place is the crawfish and oysters (carefully selected since it is a buffet)! Some other options on my recommendation list would be: hot and sour/egg drop soup (add scallions mm), spicy tuna rolls, crab/cheesy wontons, string beans and Hong Kong chicken :-) Oh, and you've got to try their hibachi section and pick our your own meats and veggies! You won't leave hungry :x The crowd is varied and mostly family-friendly, but not always free from profanities (so be forewarned). The lines are long on most nights and weekends, so be prepared to wait! All-in-all, fast service, wide variety and cheap (cheaper if you have one of their infamous coupons haha).

Best buffet in town and you get the yummy taste of hibachi food without the heavy price tag and the fancy show. The pepper chicken is the best!

This isn't the best Chinese food I've had, not by far. However, when it comes to a Chinese BUFFET, this is pretty good. The actual hibachi food is a better quality than other hibachi buffets (which shall remain nameless) and guess what... THEY HAVE SUSHI! Huzzah!!! A good selection of foods too, and fresh scallions for on top of your wonton soup. I highly recommend coming here if you can't decide what you want to eat. About $10 a person, so totally reasonable. I've put myself in the mood for it just by thinking about it and writing this review. Drat.

Cheap delicious but too crowded. We had many choices like hibachi sushi salad cakes meat etc.

  • Andrew D.

Not good at all. Save your money and spend it somewhere else. Food smelled terrible and tasted like crap. If you have never been here it is best you keep it that way. It was cheap, but that doesn't make up for the fact that the food was terrible.

I wanted to say this was average for a Chinese lunch buffet, but it wasn't. Yes, I understand it is only $7.49 for lunch, I was expecting a $7.49 buffet. The sushi was horrible: mostly cream cream, rice, avocado, or other filler. Some of them had what looked like salmon, but on closer examination, it is some kind of pink fish (?), finely chopped and has the consistency of cat food. All the other food we tried was just meh. My daughter couldn't eat most of it because it was "too salty." Her favorite item was her glass of ice water. Enough said. Never returning.

  • Katy K.

I'm rating this in comparison to other buffets only. I went there for lunch on a weekday. The selection was huge. Not just Asian food but also chicken nuggets, pizza, and kid friendly foods. The sushi is made there and is included in the price. I love that. The food is average but the price and selection is good.

I really like their hibachi grill. I ate there today and my food was cooked perfectly for me. It was not too salty like in other hibachi places. After I ate my hibachi plate, I sampled the Chinese food. I liked the chicken on a stick and seafood with cauliflower. For dessert, I liked the sliced kiwi. I had a healthy and tasty lunch for $10. A freshly cooked meal with a lot of meat, seafood and vegetables.

This place is ridiculous. The food is good, but heaven forbid if you come in closer to closing time. If you do, be prepared to have no one greet you, pay as you walk in and be reminded, a lot, that they are closing within the next 2 hours. The sushi will not be replenished and the hibachi will close early, but you will still have to pay full price and race to beat the workers to the food as the buffet is empty a half hour before their posted closing time. If you ask why, or ask to speak to a manager, there is no answer and he went home already. Not to mention the health violations all over the place. If you're cool with all of that though, this is the place for you.

  • Mike N.

Went here with some people I knew from Baltimore. Great servers who are really on top of their stuff and refill your drinks and clear your plates quickly. Too bad the food is of that notoriously cheap chinese quality. Though for the price and location the clientele they attract is probably fine with everything. All I can say is I'm glad I live in Rockville where I'm surrounded by some of the best ethnic cuisine in the DC area. Unfortunately it makes going to ethnic restaurants elsewhere (short of NYC etc) that much more painful and unappetizing.

  • Latoya G.

I tend to frequent this Hibachi Grill with a few friends of mine for a cheap Friday night dinner. They have a vast selection of your favorite chinese goodies, from my favorite pepper chicken and lo mein to sushi and crabs. Its a great way to get a little taste of everything that you might be craving in chinese food at a reasonable price.

  • Nikki T.

This is by far the best Chinese Buffet for your money, especially if you like sushi. It has a kind and courteous staff and terrific fresh food. There's really nothing more to say, this place is almost perfect!

    (4)
  • Lauren S.

This buffet is like the other Hibachi Buffet locations. Food is pretty good, wait is short, and the price is good. Don't go in with high expectations. It's a buffet. That being said, you can have a good enough meal with some friends.

    (4)
  • Christina H.

This buffet is ridiculous. Ridiculously great! The prices are amazing ($7.99 for lunch and $9.99 for dinner) and includes everything. This means ALL the dishes, sushi, made-to-order hibachi, and ice cream. Everything is good and the staff is extremely helpful. There is usually a wait, but it goes pretty quickly. The staff is great at handling a big crowd.

    (4)
  • Jessica M.

Your ordinary hibachi buffet. The only reason I'm giving this place four stars is for the cleanliness ( at least for a buffet) and the actual hibachi area. The hibachi food you can choose to have cooked is usually always fresh. The hibachi cook prepares it exactly the way you want it. Besides that, this place is the same as every other hibachi restaurant.

    (4)
  • Jude T.

The food remains decent, but the service is horrible. Every single time I come here, the server hands me a plate and makes me get my own food! What kinda restaurant are they running here?

    (3)
  • Vicky D.

$11.99 for huge dinner buffet ... can't get much better than that! Hibachi is like Mongolian BBQ, btw. There is a salad bar that includes shrimp cocktail and oysters, an "American" bar, Asian-style bar, Hibachi grill, and sushi bar. Oh and desserts, plus an ice cream freezer (BUT NO SOFT SERVE! WTF?). My favorite things I tried were the Hibachi (you put raw things on a plate and they saute it for you) and the oyster shell stuffed with baked crab and some other stuff. Delicious! They even have some pieces of kalbi, which are decent but very fatty/greasy (but that's what the cut of meat is usually like). Great deal for a ton of food.

    (4)
  • Brad G.

Good buffet, good food, great price! It's like what, $10 for dinner? And you get sushi, hibachi, various seafood. The quality isn't the best of the best, but I can't complain for the price. I usually start off with lots of sushi, then move on to the hot foods, and I like the variety of ice cream they have! Been here 2-3 times in my life and will go back.

When this place used to be Old Country Buffet, this place was always packed. When this establishment changed to Hibachi Grill, the results were the same: this place is always packed. I came here on a Sunday afternoon, one of the worst times to come to a Buffet in restaurant history. However, the wait time wasn't as bad as I would have imagined. I think that has to be contributed to the wait staff and hostess doing a good job of getting people in and getting people out. Onto the food. I have seen some complaints about the food being bland or having a lack of season. I figure that it might be that way in order to please a wider audience of customers in order for them to season the food the way they want personally. I really did not have any problems with the food, especially with the food made on the Hibachi Grill. The food came out good to me. Our waiter was sufficient, so no problems in that area either. I want to come here on a day that is less crowded in order to get a more relaxed feel of Hibachi Grill. Finding that certain day is going to be the challenge.

Right off the bat, its pretty easy to see that the Nightly News with Katie Couric ain't lying when she says obesity has become an epidemic in America. WOW what a lot of big ol' butts n' guts up in this campground! That being said, this place is one hell of a smorgasbord of mostly Asian food. There is ham, pizza, and other American dishes as well for those not down with the Orient. It was really busy when we went but not packed. It was tolerable, considering the price. Total bill for 2 people at lunch hour: $16.40. Yep, its a bargain. Some of the dishes may be a little bland but there certainly not bad. Make sure you tip the Hibachi guy in back. Its hot next to that grill!

Cant complain much since its so cheap. The good thing is this place is always packed every time i go, fresh food always comes out. Service is alright, i had to ask 2 times to get a refill.

The Hibachi Grill is truly has a supreme buffet. Not only do they have the classics but they also have delightful variations and new selections to explore. Plenty of comfortable seating and a friendly staff makes for a great place to go for lunch or just when you don't feel like cooking.

Lots of food for not a lot of money... sometimes a long wait, but if you're hungry and on a budget, this is a good buffet to get a bang for your buck

The rating is based on the price paid. Overall this place is wonderful. My friend and I went on a Friday night and before tips, the total bill was around $26. There is definitely value in this based on the quality of the food. Food was freshly prepared. Due to the fact that there are so many patrons in the restaurant at dinner time, the food get replenished often and you rarely see some old dishes just sitting there and getting dry. Plenty of food for you to select from. The Octopus in the salad bar is delicious. There is always a line at the hibachi/mogolian-bbq station. The cook somehow cooked the steak for too long and it became too dry for our taste. But hey, $13 after tax and we do not exactly expect steakhouse grade food there. Sushi bar is also nice. The place is clean and well run. Our waitress was very helpful and she really cared about our dining experience. It is rare in a Chinese buffet. We ended up tipping her very well. If I am ever in the neighborhood again, I would definitely visit. The quality of food at this place based on the price you pay would make it okay for me to go slightly out of my way to visit this place again. It's that good.

This place has one redeeming quality: you can pig out on the cheap. The food is not bad tasting, it just doesn't taste like anything other than a bit of sweet or a bit of salt. I have never seen so many varieties of food that taste basically the same or have no flavor at all. Even the fried foods were bland. As far as atmosphere, It feels like eating at a soup kitchen the way tables are so close to each other in one giant room.

Very cool place. Tons of options, you feel a bit like you're at a buffet in Vegas. It's a little bit touch to find. And you try to use your Garmin, you'll find that there are dozens of Chinese restaurants in the vincinity. As Lee said, it is one hell of a smorgasbord. I'd go again.

  • Susan R.

This is the best all-you-can eat buffet for the price! They have sushi, hibachi grill (pick out meat, veggies, cooked on hibachi grill -- they even have hibachi shrimp at lunch), lots of other oriental and american hot/cold foods. Great ice cream too. I've tried other oriental buffets and this is the best around.

I went to celebrate a family members birthday at Hibachi Grill. The buffet was kept clean and all of he food tasted good. but they could have had a better dessert assortment.

  • Nancy J.

This place is awesome! The atmosphere, that is. Other than that, the food is good chinese buffet fare - with sushi, fried chicken, mac 'n cheese, hibachi, and dessert, among other selections. It is great for groups and excellent for kids. As a lover of food, I cannot give more than 3 stars to a buffet, but this place really is worth a trip with friends/family. It's tacky, but in an atypical style for Bmore...think west coast. It's the closest thing to a Las Vegas buffet that Parkville will ever see! (does that even make sense - not sure; oh well) It's fun, tasty and cheap! WooHoo!!!

I was very excited to see this place open in the location of the defunct Old Country Buffet. It did not meet my expectations, however. The place is too often overly crowded, and the food quality is low for nearly all dishes, even by Chinese buffet standards. The food is excessively bland and the meat is too dry. Bonus points for ice cream and the hibachi station.

    (3)
  • Michael M.

Not to bad for a buffet... Free ice cream!

  • Robert K.

This is a short, sweet and to the point review. I'm not a fan of all-you-can-eats but for some reason I really wanted to try this place. So the good: Friendly and efficient staff Good price $10 Clean Huge selection of food both asian and american The not so good: The quailty of the food (but hey for 10 dollars you can't really be picky) was just so-so. Not a fan of the cafeteria feel. So if you would like to pay one price and gorge yourself with plate after plate of mediocre food, then this place is for you. Otherwise, skip it.

    (2)
  • Dani F.

I wish I could give this place a 3.5 stars instead of just a 3. Out of the chineese buffets in the area, this one is one of the better ones. They have a wide selection of food that most of the time is delicious. Don't let the stuffed potatoes fool you, they may look good but they are truely terrifying in taste. The sushi is pretty good, depending on what you get. What can you really expect at a buffet though? The hibatchi grill is pretty good, even though the wait is usually pretty long. Most of the staff is pretty friendly, but I can imagine having to deal with as many people as they get isn't easy. My suggestion, try to go later in the evening if you can. It's not as crowded inside and you can get seated quicker.

I'm not going to review the quality of the food - there are too many reviews here that cover it well. The reason I give this place 4 stars is mainly due to price - you can't beat it with a stick. The choices are HUGE. Quality - not up to par with the best Chinese around I'm sure, but solid. Selecting your own fresh veggies, rice or noodles and meat and having it grilled up in front of you alone is worth the paltry price of admission. Plus fresh, albeit limited, sushi offerings to boot. I meet two of my childhood friends regularly here, we nibble on whatever looks good and sit and talk as long as we like. For $7 or $8, you can't beat it. It's recession-proof. Taking kids here is a no brainer ... even the pickiest child will find something palatable. I was also impressed with the cleanliness of the men's room ... typically lower cost venues that attract this much traffic have poorly maintained restrooms. Not the case here.

I heard from some friends about the Chinese buffet here, since I am in Baltimore, today got a chance to try their food. It seems a general eatery place with a wide range of food products, I wasn't able to taste much of foods, whatever I tried were of great taste! It was quick service, foods trays were not empty though it was crowded, believing they have more of regular and it's own kind customers! Recommended and your experience will be a good momento!!

This is my "go to" with my girls when we don't feel like being healthy and we feel like people-watching. Their sushi chef does really well for the quality of fish he is working with so don't forget to tip! I'm still afraid of the Mongolian bar, but I can chow down on a ton of salt and pepper shrimp and forget my fear/urge to customize ever happened! Desserts are meh. Ice cream bar could use toppings.

Normally my experience here is pleasurable. Unfortunately, I can't get the sour taste in my mouth when I asked for a knife and a waitress pointed me across the room to fetch it myself. I have been watching with curiosity the place from start to finish. The Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet is now open. The Hibachi Grill has something for about everyone- from Chinese, Italian, American, Japanese, seafood, prime rib, sushi and hibachi. When you walk in you are great by a wonderful fountain of mountains and waterfalls. The ceilings glow with a calming feel. The glass dividers are adorned with different Asian scenes. I have been here twice since it opened and was pleased both times. The food is always fresh and they are quick to replenish. Both times I went there were a few different offerings. Your choices seemed to be unlimited. One of the main attractions is their hibachi grill- you select your meat and vegetables and watch your meal be cooked before your eyes. All the ingredients are fresh and cooked only with sauce so it is healthy. Some of the other popular items were the pepper shrimp, sushi and fried bananas. The pepper shrimp had great flavor and wasn't rubbery. The sushi is very fresh and there is a nice variety. I loved the tempura one with tuna inside. One item I could never get enough of was the fried bananas. The flavor was amazing and some of the best ones I have ever had. One thing that can't be beaten is the price! Lunch: Adult $6.99 Kids 3-6 $3.35 7-10 $5.35 2 and under free Dinner: Adult $9.49 Kids 3-6 $5.55 7-10 $6.75 2 and under free Sunday- All day dinner prices

Abysmal, dreadful, utter-ennui-inducing for anyone who's ever been had real asian food or a good buffet (Minado's). I tried it twice just to make sure there wasn't some sort of downturn of food b/c of the time. But no...this place failed on every level: food was not good, chairs broke, it didn't seem clean, fried foods were not crispy, and the ultimate offense--no coconut macaroons.

After all, we go to Buffets for a value not fine dining. For under ten bucks you get the run of the place, this includes the grill where you can pile on meats, veg and all the little bits your heart desires and watch the grill chef churn it into a steaming plate of Chinese delight right before your eyes. On the way to the sushi station, you may choose to make a detour at the ham carving station or the pork loin or the beef steak station. They have an all inclusive salad / fruit bar which has been surprisingly fresh on my visits, oh and they go a bit above and beyond on the deserts here too. All of the competing places charge more than does the Hibachi Grill, some as much as %50 more for less food choices. I think it is amazing how the same establishment now probably brings in 4-5 times the business in compared to when it was the Old Country Buffet. I hope they don't get complacent with their offerings and I hope their success continues. It s a buffet people, lighten up.

The Hibachi Grill is truly has a supreme buffet. Not only do they have the classics but they also have delightful variations and new selections to explore. Plenty of comfortable seating and a friendly staff makes for a great place to go for lunch or just when you don't feel like cooking.

(TMI?)

  • Jessica K.

I'm rating this in comparison to other buffets only. I went there for lunch on a weekday. The selection was huge. Not just Asian food but also chicken nuggets, pizza, and kid friendly foods. The sushi is made there and is included in the price. I love that. The food is average but the price and selection is good.

Drat.

This is my "go to" with my girls when we don't feel like being healthy and we feel like people-watching. Their sushi chef does really well for the quality of fish he is working with so don't forget to tip! This buffet is like the other Hibachi Buffet locations. Food is pretty good, wait is short, and the price is good. Don't go in with high expectations. It's a buffet. That being said, you can have a good enough meal with some friends.

  • Jessica K.

It seems a general eatery place with a wide range of food products, I wasn't able to taste much of foods, whatever I tried were of great taste! It was quick service, foods trays were not empty though it was crowded, believing they have more of regular and it's own kind customers! Recommended and your experience will be a good momento!!

This is by far the best Chinese Buffet for your money, especially if you like sushi. It has a kind and courteous staff and terrific fresh food. There's really nothing more to say, this place is almost perfect!

This buffet is like the other Hibachi Buffet locations. Food is pretty good, wait is short, and the price is good. Don't go in with high expectations. It's a buffet. That being said, you can have a good enough meal with some friends.

The food remains decent, but the service is horrible. Every single time I come here, the server hands me a plate and makes me get my own food! What kinda restaurant are they running here?

I think this place has been getting a bit of a bad rap so I would like to set it straight. Yes they are busy most of the time, this is because it is a tremendous value.

I really liked this place- a lot of variety- sushi, hibachi, seafood, chinese food, american food, and even octopus and crawfish! anyway, good! but a little too crowded and noisy... but very good food.
