Our experience was all good. Great cheeseburger, great omelet, great service -- and even more impressive considering we had arrived 15 minutes before closing. Very good value as well. Loved the diner deluxe interior.

Typical diner menu, very friendly service. Our only visit to this quaint diner did not yield great culinary results - boring, underseasoned sandwiches and passable fries. The service was so nice, though, that we'll consider visiting again to try some breakfast offerings or maybe a burger.

Very cute little diner with decent food. The parking lot is tiny so be careful when you park as some people speed through there to cut the corner on Loch Raven. The service is wonderful; our waitresses are always very attentive and keep our cups full. We often get the blueberry pancakes which are incredible! They also have pretty good sandwiches and fries, although we don't often stray far from the breakfast portion of the menu. Overall it's not the most incredible food in the world but for a quick and cheap (very reasonably priced!) meal it's great.

Loved the look of it, found a parking spot, seated immediately (this was about 11am on a Saturday) Server was nice and attentive. I wanted breakfast and ordered pancakes. I had to send the pancakes back twice because they weren't done in the middle. How can you be so bad at making pancakes??!! Pretty disappointing.

Although they have the look of a old fashion diner, they slack on food and service. I ordered the spinach and mozzarella omelette. Unfortunately they went for quantity over quality. The omelette was bland, dry and hard to finish regardless of the oversized portion. The waitress was pleasant but inattentive. To be fair it is New Year's Day and pretty busy but it was still hard to get a coffee refill. I'm impressed with Tim D., who currently has mayorship of Bel Loc, for eating the food a total of 9 times. Iron gut.

When you walk into the diner you feel like you are stepping back into the '50s- and the waitresses and hostess look and seem like they have been working there since the '50s. Its atmosphere has it typical diner feel and look. The menu hosts your typical diner fare- burgers, sandwiches, breakfast and pies. We headed here this past Friday night. I was a little surprised that the menu was as small as it was compared with other menus I have seen at diners. I had the Bel-Loc Burger- which I was told was like a Big Mac. In a sense it was except for the secret sauce. It was 2 patties, lettuce, tomatoes and pickles layered between 3 bun pieces. Since it had not sauce I asked for mayo and bit into my pile o' burger. The patties were wide and more are the thinner size but since there were 2 patties you had enough beef. The burger had great flavor and was very juicy- it gets a bit messy but the bun soaks up most of the juices. It was a pretty satisfying burger- add some bacon and sauce and it may become one of my favorite ones! It was served with chips- next time give me some fries. My husband had one of the open faced sandwiches covered in gravy. He had the Beef and Gravy- the beef was one of the burger patties covered in mounds of dark brown gravy and grilled onions. He also enjoyed the beef but said he dint care much for the gravy (and there was a lot of it- he ended up scrapping most of it off and it with out it). It was served with fries and coleslaw. The slaw was pretty good how ever the side of fries seemed to be smaller than a small fry at McDonalds. For desert I tried a slice of their coconut cream pie. I wasn't sure where the coconut was because besides the garnish on top I didn't find much shredded coconut. You could taste coconut so I am assuming they use a lot of coconut flavoring or extract to flavor the pie. It was ok but I have had better. Overall, it's and average place. It wouldn't be my first choice to go for diner food but if I wanted something quick and a skip from my house I would go again. I wouldn't mind trying the breakfast. Also after just doing some reading they serve some good homemade milkshakes.

Hands down the worst food I've ever had in my entire life! How does one mess up meatloaf. It smelled and looked like canned dog food. This wasn't the first time I'd been there but it's definitely the last.

A classic diner in Towson/White Marsh, this place gets at least one star b/c it was featured in the comic strip, Zippy the Pinhead, by Bill Griffith. I think that it deserves more than a 2.5 star mean on Yelp. No, it's not mind-blowing food. but it's good grub, fast, quick, and tasty. We last dined here while deciding on a new car, and the food helped us think. I suspect that your experience will vary widely depending on the time of the day/night you visit and the thickness of the crowds. There are lots of cool diners in the greater Baltimore area, and this place is definitely one of them!

Dear lord, I was hoping for a diner diner experience. Classic building, booths a couple of cops eating there and the crusty owner giving you a seat with the little water glass. The menu looked perfect and being a diner you can order anything and it should be good. So wanting to go away from the traditional breakfast for dinner or burger I choose the chicken parm. My poor waitress who I tipped heavily because I felt so bad for the I need a hip replacement hobble. Got my salad bar (a dinky cart in the middle of the room) salad and was happy it was fresh. Came back and there was my diner Coke and bread (good bread). So where does this go bad. The chicken parm. Please they grilled it and over cooked it by a long shot. Then they put a little cheese on it and then recooked it. It was tough, but that was not the insult. It was grilled. Chicken parm is a breaded and fried chicken breast cutlet later smothered with cheese and some sauce. The sauce was a beef meat sauce that either was so burnt that it tasted like the bottom of the pot or was a bad chili sauce they put on by mistake instead. Either way it was inedible. I took it to go as the poor hobbled waitress slopped it (due to not being able to stand right) and then I dumped it in the nearby gas station. If I go back I will stick to eggs or a burger. Anything else and they ruin it by poor cooking and frankly lack of caring. If you want a good diner experience hit Broadway Diner.

Not sure about other reviews either. Staff was very friendly. Interior like new (old style to match "diner" feel). Food was great. Best breakfast I had on the trip and only cost around $5.

  • K B.

Okay, so this place has a really great authentic Diner feel with the colorful tiles, aluminum walls, neon signs and juke boxes (although they are missing Patsy Cline, which is a grievous error for a traditional diner. This place is fine if you want some toast and eggs but never order anything else. Never EVER order a salad unless you like them covered in cheese and smothered in 99%-fat cream-based dressing.

  • Gina W.

Very cute diner, great milkshake. Older lady waitress was very sweet but not terribly attentive. The food was pretty awful though. My son's burger was burned and we sent it back. I had the hot roast turkey sandwich. The gravy was bizarrely yellow and pretty tasteless, the turkey dry. Fries were ok but nothing special.

I know plenty of people who love this place, and like Justin P., I have certainly been pulling for it all these years. But when one meal of a cheeseburger and french fries makes one deathly ill, and another meal of meatloaf tastes like ground-up brown dirty socks and makes all THREE diners deathly ill, I'm afraid I just can't go back. May be the reason I've since become a vegetarian. Although my friend raves about their breakfasts. There are waitresses here that have been working it since the '50's.

  • Tom I.

This is a wonderful place for that Baltimore diner feel. The food is typical diner food and waitress are either grandmotherly or hot..lol

    (4)
  • Jen T.

I love this place because it has Baltimore city charm, but in the county. The waitresses are vaguely ornery sometimes and endearingly grandmotherly at others, but service is just fine overall. The food is typical for a cheap diner and I like it that way. Don't attempt a salad here, eggs and toast are the m.o. It's only open 24 hours on Friday and Saturday, and closes at 11:00 the rest of the week. I have no idea if the jukeboxes are haunted or if someone was playing a joke on my friends and I, but one night, every song or artist we talked about in passing conversation ended up coming on without our touching it. My uncertainty about how this happened adds to the charm of the place.

Oh my, Bel-Loc certainly has the look of real old classic diner... and I want it to be good... but it just hasn't been. Maybe I should give it another shot? We just haven't had much luck with the food. Believe me, though, I am pulling for the Bel-Loc, because it would be my kind of place! Truth be told, you should defer to carrie p., she's eaten here more than me. I'll have to get her to review it.

  • Jonathan G.

The parking lot, during "peak" Diner hours (breakfast hours, I reckon), is pretty full. I got lucky and got the last available space, but there's clearly not enough space for the crowds this place draws for morning or after-church times. The food I ordered (ham and cheese omelette with home fries that looked more like forked and smashed potatoes) was solid, but nothing memorable or especially tasty - it's plain old diner food, most of which needs salt or ketchup to get by, or needs to be mushed together to create some flavor. The coffee is fine, about the same from the break room at work. The treat, though, is the speed and friendliness of the service, and the cleanliness and look of the diner. Our waitress, garbed in ... scrubs (?), brought out our food in less than ten minutes, and just a glance at her had my coffee refilled. The seats are that light blue 50s shade, and the booths have metal hat racks for coats and, well, whomever still wears hats. I think I'll be back, and I'll definitely try some different food.

I am so blown away that the good ole Bel Loc Diner has such a low rating... not sure what kind of experience people are expecting from a diner? This place has it all... ambiance, decent food, cheap prices, great selection, fast service. If you are expecting a cloth napkin, Michelin star rated restaurant then go downtown and go somewhere else! Bel Loc has been there for almost 50 years and has been satisfying customers the entire time! I remember coming here early before school to get french toast and with my parents when I was little after my brother's swim practice early in the morning to have breakfast before going home... ahhh the nostalgia!!! Come here if you want authentic Baltimore Diner grub!

It's been quite sometime since I've been to this restaurant but my last experience without question was memorable enough to not only stay away from that place for good but write my first review on yelp about it. I ordered steak and eggs and the steak was tougher than old boots. I sent it back and the waitress brought me a new completely covered in grease and was still tougher than old boots. Some old lady (I'm guessing she was the owner or in management) walks up to me and scowls saying "first it's too dry now it's too greasy and dry. What the f*** do you want?" I immediately got up and left after that encounter without paying my bill and I haven't gone back. If I could give this restaurant a negative number of stars, I would but I don't think there is a number so low and negative that would come close to the level of disgust I have for this place.

Good portions. Great prices. Good sevice. I really cannot complain maybe we had good weekend workers.

  • Glenn S.

I wasn't very impressed to be honest...the pancakes were chewy and the hash browns were more like leftover mashed potatoes that had been warmed up. They weren't crispy at all. The service was good but I don't think I'll be back...I guess I am still on a quest to find a good diner around here...

  • Jerry C.

I haven't been there for awhile and typically I get the cream chip over french fries. Unfortunately, management has changed the fries to fresh cut from manufactured fries. For me, it lacks the crunch and texture this dish use to have. Other than that, service is good and consistent for a diner.

  • Dianne Z.

After two hours of driving in the rain, this place was a welcome oasis. Since it was nearly 1 PM, we went with some lunch offerings but I want to go back for the breakfast! Typical diner menu but the place was bright and sparkling inside. The servers all wear white which kinda made me think 'nurses' at first but it works. Service was friendly and fast. This place sits on a busy corner and the parking lot looks like it could be a little dicey during busy periods but it's an easy spot to get to from 695.

Kind of surprised I haven't yet done a review for this Baltimore area legend, being that I usually get here once or twice a year! Alas, this is another classic place that just hasn't stayed above par, at least in my estimation. My experiences have been pretty much limited to breakfast, and writing this review I find "limited" to be a very apt word. The breakfast menu is indeed limited. Yes, the usual basics are there, and I'm really not expecting anything fancy. But there could at least be some combo platters. Today I ordered a ham, mozzarella and onion omelette, which came with taters and toast (I went with my usual rye). I probably ate a little over half of the omelette, which just wasn't real tasty, with the onions tasting a bit funky. The potatoes are standard diner style, as in boring. I continue to be amazed at how bland most diner home fries tend to be. The toast was fine, and at least the butter packets didn't feel like they just left the freezer! The coffee was such that I didn't opt for a refill. Service was fine, and the cost wasn't out of whack, so decent marks there. I'm tempted to make my rating a three, but it's just not fun to leave a place dissatisfied with a meal.

I still wish they would return to the 24-hour schedule, but barring the 3 pm closing this place still holds up. My dad took me out for my birthday lunch and we both got the Eggs & Scrapple (I think it was $5.99) and coffee. The coffee was perfect diner coffee - not too acidic and no need for sugar. The scrapple was crispy on the outside and soft but hot on the inside (as it should be). Service was great! Clientele was mostly older folks (like my dad) and some young moms with kids, but it was QUIET for a diner. No music, very little chatter. I miss my 3 am breakfasts there though.

Ordered a Ham and Cheese Omelet. It was huge and tasty. Came with potatoes that were good. The place looked clean. The waitresses are all dressed in white which is different.

  • JP F.

Great authentic diner. Great breakfast food and good portions. However, the menu could use more variety even though all the basic diner food is there. I wish they were open past 3pm. Good, solid breakfast of eggs, bacon, hash browns, and toast. Will visit again!

  • Lynnard D.

Great breakfast! They use fresh ingredients and the servings are more than ample. Great service as well.

  • Steve O.

Great traditional diner. Very good service, the food was hot and delicious and the place was remarkably clean. I especially liked this place because they give you a small glass of ice water with your morning coffee, which was continually refreshed. I felt the prices were extremely reasonable and would suggest going there when in the area.

Stumbled upon this place because it was next-door to my hotel. The waitress was extremely friendly and bubbly. Service was excellent, the food was typical diner fare but prepared well.

Diners are for breakfast and that's about it. Bel-Loc has been on that corner for almost 50 years and there has been some updating inside and outside but not much so don't expect more than a very plain place. We were headed to the Big Screen Store (BSS) and wanted to eat breakfast nearby. The Bel-Loc was the closest to our destination. We tried to enter the parking lot around noon and could not find a space so we left and went to the BSS and came back a half - hour later. There were three spaces so we parked and walked in. The hostess told us to sit in the back room and we would be served soon. In a few minutes our server came by and took our order. I ordered the Kraft blueberry pancakes. My husband ordered the French toast and a scrambled egg as a side. I loved my pancakes. I was served three large tender pancakes filled with juicy blueberries. It was too much for me to eat so I gave some to my husband. His French toast was made from ordinary white bread and the egg looked greasy. I think I was the winner and enjoyed my pancakes to the last bite. The coffee was hot and decent (no it's not Starbucks or Royal Farms) and they even had skim milk. Our server kept the cups high and hot so we had no complaints about the service. This was a decent breakfast to start the day. The price was right, the place was clean and the service was good. Neither one of us got sick and we would return if we can find a parking space on that postage stamp sized parking lot.

Certainly an older diner..server was courteous, checked on us several times. Food was prepared well. From what I could see the diner was clean and comfortable. Nice place to come for breakfast. Lots of customers when we visited

  • Gomer K.

My mom and I came here after dropping our car off to get some work done. To start, everyone there was very friendly. Our server was very friendly, helpful, and sweet. The manager? or owner? thanked us for coming on our way out. The menu isn't anything special. It's typical diner food. Breakfast and sandwiches. My mom had the spinach and mozzarella omelet which we both thought was great. I had the Spanish omelet with cheddar cheese which was good but overall, meh. Everything was cooked perfectly though. The eggs were fluffy and the potatoes were just right and the portions were large. Here's what we liked, which might seem weird, but we thought the hot tea they served really good and we really liked the butter they served with the toast. Weird? Maybe but sometimes it's the little things.

    (3)
  • Carter N.

The food wasn't spectacular but it was good. I had a decent cheeseburger, good meat but awkward roll and stiff lettuce. Delicious milkshake! It's a diner, it's got what you want in a diner- although this menu isn't gigantic like some. The service was superb! It might not always be that way, but when I was there the waitresses were well-dressed and cheery and quick. After so much bad service at other places in Baltimore and DC it was a shock!

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.
