Chicken Rico is absolutely as good as it gets when it comes to peruvian chicken. Whatever they're doing with their spice rub and saffron sauce is spot on because this place is absolutey delicious. We would go here all the time from the firehouse and never got tired of it! I usually go with the whole because it's just that good!! Their sandwiches are also good the steak and chicken is delicious but they have making it and always give dirty looks when you ask for it since they have to go hand pick the chicken. That's really my only complaint.

The best Peruvian chicken I've ever had -- I'm not a total connoisseur, but this place is better than many others like it in PG County. The chicken is crazy delicious, and the fried plantains are perfect. Even the sauces for the fries are better than average. It's a steal, too -- the $17.99 whole chicken dinner with three sides fed me and my husband for two meals, plus additional leftover chicken for chicken salad.

I was referred here by a fellow Yelper. This place did not disappoint. I fell in love with the beans and rice off of the first bite! The chicken and dipping sauces were very tasty as well.

Peruvian food here is true to style (just actually got back from Peru) with extremely generous portions on Pollo Saltado and Lomo Saltado. I would actually recommend sharing a Pollo Saltado it is so unbelievably good but also enormous. Most people opt for the 1/4 or 1/2 chicken here which is served up wildly quick and is pretty decent; but it is nowhere near the experience as the Pollo Saltado. They also have ceviche I think but on Sunday/Monday only or something since that is when the fresh fish arrives. After that, it may become Tilapia Frito for all I know. Definitely come in here for great Peruvian food and they even have Inka Kola, which is a Peruvian staple soda drink that is best described as sugary bubblegum soda. Anyway, GET THE POLLO SALTADO!

The food was delicious!!! I'm dominican and I felt like I was back in my country at my aunts house eating! I had the charcoal chicken with fried rice and plantains. OMG, I kept eating after I was full. Asi que si usted tiene hambre y lo que quieres es comida latina, este es lugar! La comida estaba bien rica! The staff was very nice and polite. The place was really clean as well. I recommend it!

Update: started eating there regularly while working at Maryland. After more time with my favorite joint in Wheaton, El Pollo Rico, I would say this would be my second go to pollo a la brasa place in Maryland. I do appreciate the fact that they have a huge variety of sides and serve other foods such as lomo saltado and peruvian fried rice which EPR does not.

I first tried Chicken Rico at its short-lived College Park location. Once it closed, I was delighted to realize there was a location in Langley Park. Most peruvian chicken spots come a dime a dozen, but C.R. stands out. The food is simply delicious. The sides are pretty standard for what you'd see, but it's a cut above the rest. I'm especially a fan of the fried yuca, which I've never been able to stomach anywhere else. I appreciate the service. Their delivery is pretty quick and phone ordering is fairly simple. But even when you go inside to order, you're greeted like you're family, even if you're not. It's located in a fairly subpar shopping center, but there's plenty of parking!

The men working there have poor customer service skills, nonetheless I bought 1/4 chicken and white rice. It was delish. The steak fries not so much. They were cold and not fried long enough. I'd stay away from the beans and anything saucy looking. I'd eat from here again no doubt.

I grab take out from Chicken Rico at least 2x a month. It's a great value for a ton of amazing Peruvian food. The chicken is always perfectly seasoned and juicy and there are tons of side options. You must try the fried rice. It's made with chopped up Peruvian Chicken. So freaking good. Also their yucca is always perfect, where other places I've tried it gets tough and chewy. Idk what they do here, but damn it's good. The male staff is definitely inappropriate when it comes to being flirtatious, but you get a good laugh out of it. This place is in a seedy area, so I would be careful after dark.

I stopped by here on a Tuesday at 8pm and it was pretty empty. I have frequented the other Peruvian chicken joint in College Park(Baltimore Ave and Sunnyside) and enjoy it thoroughly. I thought I would try something new and it was on my way back to DC. We were the only ones in line. The first guy was attentive and ordered the half chicken, with a side of rice and beans and slaw. My friend ordered the quarter chicken with fried yuca. The cashier was somewhat attentive, because he was listening to his headphones and didn't seem like he was paying much attention. It was kind of disrespectful. So, onto the meal. The chicken is great and the skin was browned and crispy. The crispiness is something I haven't found at the other place in College Park. Chicken was very juicy, moist and tender. Although the meat was seasoned well, the skin was just way too salty for my taste. I think I should have eaten some skin with the meat. The sides were also a mix bag. The slaw had way too much mayonnaise(if that is what they use). It was way too heavy and difficult to eat a couple of mouthfuls before being overwhelmed in the dressing that the slaw is floating in. The rice was a bit mushy and there was a large golf ball size clump of rice on the plate. The rice was just incredibly salty. The yuca on the other hand was significantly better than other places that I have tried. Their yuca is still moist and tender and not overcooked. The two condiments were on par too, but the green chili sauce was also just overloaded with salt. I was pretty much dehydrated after this meal because everything was really salty. I liked the crispness of the skin and it is great value. I split the half chicken plate with my friend and it was more than plenty to eat. Overall, I wasn't too impressed. Salt was the predominant taste of their food. I'm not sure if this on par, but I'd rather go to that other place in College Park. I would come back to try some other items and try other sides, but if your headed in that direction, it is worth stopping by, but be sure to have plenty of water.

Delicious chicken. Sides are not as good as pollo Rico. I always order extra to take home for leftovers

I want to support local holes in walls and wanted to like this place. But the sides looked old and unappetizing. So I ordered for takeout a whole chicken which will keep me busy for next few days. It's ok but not esp memorable.

My favorite peruvian chicken restaurant in Maryland out of the 5-6 locations I've tried. The only down side is that the area surrounding the restaurant can be severely congested with traffic ):

**BEST** peruvian chicken in the area...period!! I have probably visited every peruvian chicken joint in the area and non is as tasty as this one. This is THE peruvian chicken experience!! Go...right now..and get this chicken!!! It is in Langley Park, but the service is really fast, so you will be in and out in no time.

Chicken Rico has THE BEST peruvian chicken in Langley Park! The chicken has flavor all the way through to the bone. They give you ample amounts of the sides and for a reasonable price. The Platanos are amazing. It's a little place which usually had telemundo or spanish music videos playing. I don't normally eat there but if you're planning to eat there, you should be prepared to enjoy a more lively setting with televisions going, conversations happening and grills going. I love this place and I love the service :) They're sweethearts!

On our way home last night, my kids needed something quick to take out and Chicken Rico more than met our needs. We had the Carne Asada and a 14/ dark Chicken. Sides were rice and French fries. Portions were generous and tasty, service friendly.

4 stars for the food (1 for decor). I've picked up carryout here at least a dozen times: the kids call it the "chop chicken" place because they use a cleaver to whack apart the chicken on a board right in front of you (ask for 6 pieces). The chicken is very good, the sides are only fine (the mayo sauce is great). I've also caught portions of some great movies and soccer matches there, but the place is a bit run-down, I don't think I would hang out there.

My fiance and I stopped here after running some errands and got take-out. We ordered a whole chicken, salad, plantain and yuca fries. I think we spent maybe $20-25 and we got so much delicious food! The green sauce (not sure what it's called) was good but not spicy enough for my taste. Overall we really enjoyed the food and couldn't believe what a good price it was! The place was packed on a Saturday early evening---that's how you know it's good! I would check it out!

It's sad how "Peruvian" chicken has been degraded around here. There used to be standards, flavor was paramount. These days its all a gimmick. The chicken itself didn't taste bad but it lacked true flavor. It was juicy, but that alone doesn't make a good Peruvian chicken. The fries were bland (which they are at all these places, I still haven't heard a good reason why). The plantains and the green sauce were good I will commend them on that. The search continues for true Pollo a la Brasa...

I dropped in to order the chicken salad that the Greenbelt location makes. I was dissapointed because their chicken salad differs greatly from the Greenbelt location. I was expecting their chicken mixed with their special sauce but it was just chicken chunks on top of a large bed of greens with parmasean cheese, croutons and dressing. Different than what I was expecting but still delicious. The chicken was marinated and tastes fresh. I was waiting for my order and watching other people order chicken and sides and was amazed at the portion sizes at this location. Aside from the 1/4 chicken, you get to pick 2 sides and when they are filling the take-out box or plate they fill it to the top like a mountain. Very generous portion sizes! The location is kind of sketchy but the food is good.... I will order food here again... only in the daytime.... not the best area.... but I will be back....

Wow..... this is sooooo good.... the chicken is so tasty and the sauces just top it off. I can't wait to find some peruvian chicken in GA.

It's ultimately so cheap and fast that you can't say no to Rico. The chicken is flavorful and the sides are decent. The fried yuca is usually kind of dry and hard, so I'd stay away from that. The chicken fried rice tastes more like soy than fried, which is weird... but I guess Peruvians aren't exactly the best at cooking Chinese food. They are a master of the chicken, though. Expect to pay about $5-6 for a 1/4 chicken meal. Awesome.

The food at Chicken Rico is amazing. Great chicken and yucca in particular. It's not fancy though there are tables and chairs. If you want pollo ala brasa that is hard to beat and reasonably priced then this is the place.

This place is awesome. The chicken is superb and the yuca fries are scrumptuous. Their yellow sauce is spot on and their salad is soo yummy too. If you are a woman, this place will do excellent for your self esteem too, since the guys that work there are so flirtacious. Go there for the food and you will not be disappointed!

Chicken Rico is great - the chicken is delicious, and the yucca and rice and bean sides are highly recommended. The best part is the price, which is excellent for a 1/2 chicken and sides that easily feeds 2 people. It's not in the nicest part of town, but try it anyway - you won't be disappointed.

Mostly I have to say that this place is wow! I'm a little concerned that I am writing a review now, nearly 2 years after finding this little gem, because I believe it deserves the kind of enthusiasm you have when you first discover some great food! This place is the real deal, peruvian chicken! Great mix of herbs and slices on the chicken. Extremely consistent flavor. Excellent pricing (1/4 chicken with 2 sides and can of soda for $6!!) With great side options that they literally pile on your plate to overflowing! The inside is clean and very inviting, unlike some hole in the wall restaurants. Oh and the staff is always very friendly and fast! This is THE peruvian chicken place that opened my tastebuds up to this delicious world of pollo a la brasa!
