I've been here 3 times now, and it might be the most mediocre brewhouse I've ever been to! Nothing sucks, and nothing stand out. It's like they are TRYING to get 3 stars on Yelp. There are two things named the Dominion sampler - one an appetizer sampler and the other a beer sampler. Both are average - none of the beers stand out as unique, and the appetizers could be pre-frozen, but if they're not, they're on the low end of appetizers. The TVs are plentiful, but always seem to be in the wrong place, and it's kinda loud near the bar. The Philly Cheesesteak I had had too much bread, and I never seem to be able to pick a beer from the list - I always SETTLE for a beer. And I waited at the door to be seated one time for like 4 minutes (no line; plenty of open tables) because the hostess was chatting with her buddy YET I'VE BEEN BACK 3 TIMES!!! Cuz I know they'll have sports and beer. Yeesh.

This place has an amazing happy hour. I showed up there with a date and things were a little hectic when we were seated. Took a minute to get a drink order in, but the manager kindly stepped in to get our drink order to assist the server with the busy. Great selection of beer. I've always liked Old Dominion brews. We ordered wings and sushi. My date enjoyed his wings and I thought the sushi was excellent. Maybe it wasn't top notch, but it tasted fresh and delicious and was very well priced for happy hour. The server was even kind enough to come back and check on us before happy hour ended to make sure we could get any last minute things. Great place to hang out, very accessible near the metro, and great food. They also had karaoke going that was interesting to watch.

This is a big bar in a convenient location. There is parking and it's only a short walk from the PG Plaza Metro. There were several groups watching college football when we went, but it wasn't crowded. There was room to spread out. Even with the small number of people, though, the service was very slow. We ordered the Asian salad and the chili which were both salty. The chili didn't have distinguishable meat or beans- it was really like chili flavored red sauce. The Asian salad was supposed to be Thai/peanut but was more Teriyaki- likely because it comes from the Asian buffet next door. The stuffed mushrooms were okay. They serve Pepsi products and have a decent beer selection. The key is to keep it simple. This place is not gourmet! Overall, it's the middle of the road kinda place. Great for large groups if there are enough servers. They give out coupons which really make it a good place to get a burger or something _simple_ while watching the game.

Just had lunch here with co-workers. The menu is pretty standard bar/ Brew house fare. Meat and Potatoes. They do have gigantic salads with ample meat and toppings. No I didn't drink any beers. Just not my thing. If you want a place to watch sports up in PG Plaza/ Hyattsville I suggest going here. There are flat big screens everywhere. The place is designed like a beer distributor decided to add a restaurant to the existing location. No drive thru! I had the Cheddar Bacon Burger. Man was this thing huge. It was really good. Onions, L&T, huge slices of bacon and fries. The issue I had was that our meal didn't arrive until 45 minutes after we ordered. That is unacceptable on the lunch "hour". The waitress was nice and friendly. This is the spot to be for watching sports, there are no sight line issues. So it's a 3*er from me.

I found out about this place last month and ended up back there 3 more times that week. I love the happy hour prices of 5 dollar drinks and food. They have great sushi, wings, mozarella sticks and beer.

This is your typical neighborhood sports bar. Bar food && bar drinks. Great happy hour specials (M-Sat) with a $5 food menu, $4 drinks, and $3.50 margaritas. Different specials every day of the week for certain drinks. Karaoke on Wednesday nights. Lunch specials (M-F) from 11-3 or something like that. $11 Long Islands :)

This bar is a gem. Food: Don't come here looking for fancy fare. Think bar food - burgers, chicken wings, WAFFLE FRIES! Yummo. Stick to the basics, and you won't be disappointed. Drinks: Marco is the bartender who's usually working when I go to Old Dominion. He's always good at giving recommendations and doesn't disappoint. Atmosphere: Great venue to go to with friends. Plenty of TVs to watch sports games. Overall chill vibe. Bonus: Great happy hour specials AND karaoke on Wednesday nights. Listen. I like this place. It's like my very own Cheers close to home.

Customer Service: The Best! Marco, Dennis, May and Alice are the best bartenders ever. They make sure to remember what you like to drink that way when you come back its in front of you before you sit down. The waitresses are so pleasant and make sure you're enjoying your time there. They definitely make you feel welcomed. Food: Delicious. My favorite dish has to be the pork chops with 2 sides. Trust me on this one. You will love it. Also, the chicken fried rice is delicious. But if you're not trying to eat that much or want something quick, they just put mini pizzas on the many which are delicious. Drinks: They have a huge selection on beers. If you want something that they usually don't make ask either bartender and they will figure out how to make it. Marco will sometimes entertain you with a cool drink trick. Happy Hour is probably the cheapest in the area. This place is great! If you're ever in the area make sure to try it out. They do get busy for games so make sure to plan ahead. If you're in the mood for karaoke make sure to stop by on Wednesday night. You're definitely going to enjoy Copa Cobana being sung.

Took hubby here for Father's Day this past Sunday. We got there at 11:50am since Google showed that they opened at 11:00am on Sunday's but once we got there it reflected that they actually open at noon on Sundays so the wait outside wasn't bad. I got the fire grilled salmon with seasonal veggie (broccoli) and a side salad. My husband got the stuffed salmon & shrimp with reg. fries & mashed potatoes. The "stuffing" was actually crab meat it's just that they put it on top of the shrimp & salmon. I have to say that both my husband & I loved the food. Salmon was well done! I usually always take a goody bag but I ate everything. Will def be coming back for happy hr since we saw that they're prices are great on drinks during that time.

My friend decided to have her birthday celebration at Old Dominion Brewhouse because she wanted to do some karaoke. The service was great, but the security was way too overzealous. At the end of her karaoke set, she dropped the microphone "sexual chocolate style" and the DJ began berating her and banned us from anymore karaoke. Keep in mind the microphone was not broken and people kept on performing after her mistake and subsequent apology to the DJ. The apology was not enough, soon after she was approached by the Fugitive Apprehension Agent and told we had to leave and they was going to be charged with destruction of property. The agent was very aggressive and the waitress and host both tried to explain to him that the microphone was working properly and that she was just having fun. Our waitress had to come to the table and inform us that our friend was made to leave with no coat, or her purse. We were not rowdy in anyway and although the experience was good I would not return to this establishment. Maybe the agents expectation was that the crowd is usually more confrontational, but the way the situation was handles was very poor.

I went to this place with a co-worker for an after work cocktail and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and the service. Our waitress wasn't very attentive but it wasnt the worse service ive ever had. The margarita was perfect and the food was a better quality than i would expect from bar food so im not complaining.. I enjoyed this place and will return with my co-workers since its not far from my office at all.

So after 2 years of passing this place at least once a day, my friends and I finally visited this place only because one of our friends decided to celebrate his bday here. I definitely did not expect to have a great time here. The inside is bigger than I thought it would be from the outside. We went on a Wednesday starting with their 4-7 happy hour. The happy hour menu was pretty good. Wings, mozzarella sticks, and some other stuff for 5 dollars. 3 dollar margaritas [1 dollar extra for flavor]. I didn't get a great look at the menu but my friend ordered a burger and some fries for like 9 dollars I think. They have specials on drinks [and maybe food too] for each day of the week. Drinks are kind of pricey, I believe. Well Wednesday is karaoke night that is supposed to start at 7, but really starts at like 9 and ends at 12. The food was good and the karaoke was fun. Our waitress was good, but besides her I didn't care for the rest of the service we received. Honestly, I thought that place had like 10 people in there at max, at all times, but I was pleasantly surprised. It actually got pretty packed as the night went on. I definitely will be back here, probably just for HH and/or karaoke.

1st and last visit here with my family for dinner at 7 PM. Food was OK, nothing outstanding. Strip steak was mealy, crab cakes and crab stuffed shrimp pretty good. Terribly loud drunks at the bar, both men and women, with most inappropriate public conversations was a giant negative. Absolute no sign of management on the floor. Waitress was serving only 3 tables and service was lax. Evening manager on the floor needed. Many of the drunks scooted out at 8 PM to catch the bus. That should tell you a lot.

Probably the best happy hour deals in Hyattsville, $3.99 drinks and happy hour food deals starting at $5, can't beat that! Not to mention the service here is exceptional, they make sure they remember you as a returning customer and that is definitely enough to have me coming back, but be warned, their happy hour fills up quick and it can be extremely difficult to find a seat at the bar especially on game days! But if you manage to, you'll receive the best service from May, Alis and Dennis

I have been to this place a few tomes and ordered everything from wings to sushi, so I'll try to describe my overall experiences. This place has great happy hour specials and if you're ordering basic bar food or basic drinks, you can expect at least mediocre food. (However, the cheap happy hour prices make up for this, in my opinion.) (Take note that their cutoff tome for happy hour is a hard cutoff time. It ends exactly at 7. For real.) However, don't bother trying anything fancier. Despite being reassured that they knew how to make sushi--their chefs learned from a sushi restaurant-- I very disappointed with their subpar sushi that was anything but fresh or cheap. Also, their wait staff always leaves something to be desired. The only time I'm not waiting around for my waiter or waitress or when they are rushing us out (so they can clip the table). Overall, it's a great place for cheap beer and wings but don't expect great customer service or stellar food.

Truly a "Happy Hour"was had by Me! My first time...stopped in to kill time before the new Zane movie. The best drinks my $3.99 can by in the DMV. The atmosphere was light and fun. Lots of singing coming from the bar area ( always a good sign on a Friday night). We had the Chicken quesadillas, mozzarella sticks and fried shrimp. They were fresh, delicious and a good portion size. I was surprised and quite satisfied with that. My server was a little clingy but hey I do believe she was tracking her tip. All in all I enjoyed the atmosphere, food and heavy handed drinks (yes! Most generous). So glad I was invited back on Wednesday for karaoke... Oh Boy!! My honest suggestion? Before you hit the theater stop in for a martini or two and a snack... forego that popcorn!

I was really happy when this place first opened. I thought finally a bar close to home! The food here is okay (try the steak or buffalo wings) the servers have always been good even when it's busy. They are very friendly and have great customer service. Every time I come here I feel comfortable and leave satisfied. Good place to watch a game and catch a tower with friends. All in all a good place to Stop by and catch a game Or two .

If you can tolerate the hoodrats and wannabe thugs, this is a decent place to watch a football game. There are plenty of televisions, even outside of the bar area, and the bartenders usually pour strong drinks. For the beer lovers, OD is known for their beer towers and unlike most breweries, they sell plenty of beers besides the house brands. I only ordered food once here because I give nachos a chance at any bar. They were plated beautifully, on a ceramic platter with guac, salsa, and sour cream in individual silver plates. Maybe that's to distract from the Tostitos and 7-11 cheese. They're also topped with olives, which is odd not necessarily bad. The grilled chicken is served in long skinny strips instead of diced so it's impossible to eat without a knife and fork. Too bad because the chicken tasted pretty good. If a friend served these nachos at home, they wouldn't be too shabby but for $12 at a bar? Pass. The service is spotty. The waitresses are usually pleasant enough but they're always hard to find, even on slow nights. Some give you a hard time about getting separate tabs, some don't. On busy nights, expect long waits for another round of drinks.

Chill place to go out with friends...for drinks...only. The food was lacking The sips: Both my lemon drop martini and caramel apple martini were delicious! and only 3.99 at happy hour. They have a pretty good happy hour special, with a great variety of choices The eats: Ordered the buffalo wings. I would not consider these biffalo wings. Barely spicy, and the sauce was kinda sweet...like buffalo mixed with barbecue...idk, i was in the mood for actual hot/ buffalo wings and this wasn't cutting it for me. Tried the mozzarella sticks..nothing special. The nachos tasted like it had movie theater cheese on it..just wasn't impressed with any of the food at all.

This place is good only for the cheap beer during happy hour. The service is spotty, the food is average, the clientele is shady. I only go because I work close by and even then, I tend to opt to go elsewhere. If you're looking for an OK place with cheap happy hour prices, you can't go wrong. If you expect more, it's not going to be for you.

Response from Management, see below. They offered me 25% percent off, should I choose to come back... I think I'll give my business to the one in Metro Center, where the service doesn't vary and the management is present. "Hi Adam, I am the manager of Old Dominion Brewhouse in Hyattsville. We were notified by Old Dominion Brewing Co. about your complaint about a dining experience you had at our restaurant. We apologize for the service that you received. The server that waited on you that day is new and that night was actually the first day she was taking tables. There is no excuse for the bad service that you received, but we hope this gives you an idea of why the service wasn't what you expected. Unfortunately, this waitress never notified the manager that you asked for happy hour prices like she told you she had done. It is our policy to always extended happy hour prices to our customers in this situation, and if she had notified the manager like she was supposed to you would not have any problem with your request. We have discussed the situation with this employee and because it was her first night we are giving her an opportunity to see if she improves. We appreciate your feedback because we don't always get to hear how our new staff is doing. To compensate you for the bad experience you had, if you choose to come back and dine with us again, mention this email and you will receive 25% off your entire bill. Sincerely, Old Dominiom Brewhouse management "

Just not my type of place, wouldn't think to come here on my own. It's a good bar area and pretty fast service but the food is definitely frozen and the prices are a little high. There are a lot of TV's but theres so much music and other stuff going on. There is an area for sit down and theres an area on the side of the bar for more tables. Not much else to say... meh.

This place has horrible service. We waited an hour and give minutes with one drink service and they act surprised when we asked where our food was. We then waited another 20 plus minutes and gave up. They shouldn't be in business much longer.

I very very very rarely make it to Maryland and when I do it's to party. My love of reggae music brought me to Hyattsville and Old Dominion Brewhouse. This place is located in a new stripmall / town center type area with other shops, restaurants and a movie theatre near by. Upon arriving we were greeted by a police officer who was checking ids but didn't actually pat or wand us down. When we entered it looked like an ale house that happened to have a dance floor attached. i was slightly perplexed but we went to the bar to have drinks and see how things were going to turn out. We only ordered drinks, I started with absolut with a splash of pineapple which the bartender still gave me the full serving of pineapple and progressed to Lynchburg lemonades with Jameson rather than Jack Daniels. The drinks were fine and were the best part of my night. The whole reason for me making the trip to the Brewhouse was for the Bashment and sadly that was weak. The dj kept switching from reggae to soca and as a born Jamaican that does not work for me! However because of the beverages I was able to tolerate the music. Overall I had an ok time. The Brewhouse was fine and if I lived closer and the djs were played good music I was go back.

Before you start judging and reading any bad reviews you see here, let me give you my take. So, yesterday I flew back to MD from FL, and I wanted a beer. My summer roommates and I live in Hyattsville. We were looking for places on yelp, considering going to U street, Silver Spring.... whatever. Personally, i didn't want to go thru the hassle of drinking several beers and having to get an intense urge to pee. So I started looking locally, College Park & Hyattsvile. For the 2 months that we've been here, I haven't set foot in this plaza, until yesterday. When I arrived, I had an epiphany. I remember that last year, when I was living in Wheaton, there were tons of reviews of people saying that Wheaton was unsafe, tons of gangs, etc. All those comments were nullified when I started exploring the Wheaton area. They invested tons of money in their mall, and opened a Safeway, and then all of a sudden, the city boomed. I think the same thing is going to happen in Hyattsville. They are opening a Safeway, eventually, and have some empty shopping plazas that I see being occupied sometime in the future. I thought this bar would be semi-ok, but it actually reminded me of Duffy's back in FL (a popular sports bar). It was very clean, there was a TON of space, we didn't have to wait at all to be seated and the waitress was excellent. On sundays they have Old Dominion 20 oz beer for $3.50 or $3.75, and they have excellent wings for $7. 3 beers later, we came out full, a lil lightheaded, and ready for a nap. My roommate tried the mushroom burger after saying that he wasn't hungry, and he loved it. Ate it in like 4 bites (it was pretty big), and the waffle fries are great too. I would definitely give this place my business again on the weekends or whenever we randomly decide to have a beer. Check it out for yourself.

Great place for a group of friends and especially football and basketball games. Best things you could get are a tower of beer and the wings (unique sweet/spicy sauce, fantastic). Not many other establishments have Stella, Hoegaarden, and Modelo all available on tap, selection's pretty good. The Dominion brand brews are a little bland, save for the red ale. Service is great at the bar, a bit iffy at the tables. Happy Hour specials are always good.

  • Miranda W.

This place is just average. Nothing absolutely great nothing extremely horrible. The bartender is sweet but I only got a beer so don't know if she can really sling drinks. The Old Dominion Pale Ale is pretty descent but the Mozzarella sticks I got looked like they came straight out of a frozen bag and tasted like it. Yuck. Not a place I'd go out my way to. If anything I'd come here to drink. Not eat.

The food is horrible and the servers have no clue what they're doing. We have given this place several chances but its always bad. Most recently, we went for lunch- i ordered a burger, she ordered a tuna sandwich. I asked for mine no lettuce and tomato, she said she wanted hers on wheat not kaiser roll. The waiter brings mine with lettuce tomato etc and hers on a kaiser roll. I pointed out the lettuce and tomato, he said oh sorry about that and stood there a minute. Then he started to walk away, so i stopped him. I said i assume you will get this fixed? He says do you want me to take it back? Was I supposed to eat it anyway?? We then told him oh by the way this isnt wheat (on the tuna), he said yes thats wheat.... mind you this was a kaiser roll with sesame seeds on it, no way anyone thinks its wheat bread.... He went away and after a very long time someone came by and offered to take 20% off the bill.........HUH? i'm allergic to tomatoes, but what is it these people dont get about getting the order right, let alone comping the bill for the extra long wait etc the food in previous visits wasnt good anyway to me although my g/f likes some of the stuff, and the service hasnt been this bad before although not good avoid this place

Old Dominion "Brewhouse" and sports bar. I went there and had a sampler of beers (I will review the beers at a later date) which consisted of four four ounce beer samples. I also had a 20 oz pale ale. The beer was average. It was not terrible but there was nothing special or interesting about any of the beers. They did not have the barely wine available, that might be worth a look. We only ordered appetizers (it was happy hour and everything was half off). The food was nice, but the waiter didn't know anything about the beer, including being able to correctly identify the beers in the samples. I will give it another chance, sometime soon. But as far as my first impression, not that good. Sorry OD.

Old Dominion Brewhouse is a pretty nice place to go for happy hour. Their happy hour menu has several options that cost around 4.50 each. Also during happy hour, all 22oz beers are 4 dollars. This isn't too shabby for a location close to my workplace. That being said, outside of happy hour this restaurant is slightly overpriced. All the sandwiches cost 10 dollars and up. The best deal for the sandwiches is the Tuna Steak. It's a massive piece of tuna that eventually ends up destroying the bun. All of the food is tasty, but just a little too pricey for a brewpub in my opinion. Do not go here and order liquor, a Jack on the rocks cost me 8 dollars. The bartender at night, Dennis, is very personable and overall a great guy and always gives great customer service. Really the only downfall of this place is the price of the product itself.

  • Rachel B.

Ugh. While I didn't have any beer, I can say that my food was crap. As another reviewer has already said, it's bar food, but it's bad bar food and it's WAY overpriced. I had some shrimp dish that came with instant mashed potatoes (seriously, how hard is it to make mashed potatoes??) and frozen vegetables. The shrimp was ok, to be fair, but that's about the best I can say for this place. I'm pretty sure Five Guys is my best bet for the University Town Centre area-pretty slim pickins here.

  • Vernon C.

Found this gem tucked into the corner of the University Town Center. It's a great bar where everyone knows your name. I don't like that it's also a restaurant that people bring children to because it makes one pay attention to what you say when your favorite team it losing and your watching it on one of the ten flat screens the line the bar (Plus two more one per bathroom) Happy hour is best and the bar tenders are really cool. I don't really order more than drinks and some finger foods.

    (4)
  • Chris W.

Terrible. The brewhouse looks like a cheesy hotel bar. The beer is just so-so. The food is bar food, but really bad bar food. The fried fish looked like it had been fried repeatedly with old oil. The french fries were tasteless. And everything was overpriced. Decidedly NOT recommended.

  • Brian H.

Tragically I picked this place even though the magical (and impartial) coin flip directed me elsewhere. With the exception of the delicious waffle fries the food was terrible. In addition, even though there were only a few other tables service was lacking. When you're given a sodium-dipped sandwich water becomes extremely necessary. Sadly, water appears to be a highly valued commodity since we were unable to find our server to request more. On the plus side they seem to have nightly drink specials that don't appear unreasonable. Despite this, I will not be back.
