I was hesitant to go here because I LOATHE the Jumbo Jumbo in Rockville (worst customer service ever) but it as 5PM and I didn't even eat lunch yet (I get hangry) and this was the most appealing option in Germantown. Service was quick and friendly, food was fantastic and affordable. I wish the black milk tea was a little stronger, but it was still very very very good. The bubbles were just perfect as well- the perfect chewy yet soft texture. And I usually dislike the fruit flavors but my SO's strawberry one was on point! i ordered the asian chicken entree mistakening it for the taiwanese fried chicken, but it as excellent nevertheless. Unlike the taiwanese fried chicken, this one does not have basil and it's one whole cutlet. They use the same savory (MSG ladden) seasoning salt and cornstarch coating giving it a good umami crunch and add little pork crumbles and some cabbage on the side. They are not very generous with their pork crumbles (If you like that, you HAVE to go to Taipei Cafe in Rockville) and the cabbage was so-so (akin to the cabbage you get at Sarku's teriyaki stand in malls across the area.) Nevertheless, good chicken, good amount of food, good price.

Legit Taiwanese food for amazing prices! Highly recommend their Taiwanese Basil Chicken and Beef Noodle Soup. Had their bubble tea once and can't remember anything special about it. It was only ok. If only this place had more space to sit and added some decor it would be perfect.

I came here many times ordering same old shaved ice. Guess what, the total amount they charge is different. Be careful on the based charge and hidden charge. One cashier would tell you condensed milk is free of charge, the other would charge you $1, etc.

I am torn about what review to give. I love this place but they have been having a lot of issues. Pro - Cute girls, decent tea, decent prices. Cons - They open at 10:30 yet struggle to get bubbles out anytime before 12/12:30. They also have a buy 10 get 1 free stamp card but if you get jumbo like me which is $5.83 every single day, my 11th "freebie" costs me $1.86 or something like that the difference from large to jumbo. I'm sorry but I come every single day rain, snow, sleet, or sun, I shouldn't have to pay for my freebie. The other issue is a jumbo tea w/bubbles is $5.83. Sometimes i ask for 1/2 bubbles 1/2 jelly and sometimes the price goes up to $6.80. For starters each topping is $.50 so at most for double they should charge $6.33. Somehow getting 1/2 jelly 1/2 bubbles equals triple the cost. They also have a bunch of stuff on their menu board tv that they don't carry. I get you have other stores but if the biggest sign in your store is for soup, maybe carry it?

When you're spoiled with "top shelf" boba in California, it's hard to really enjoy the "house" stuff elsewhere. Jumbo Jumbo has a huge variety of ice smoothies, milk tea, iced tea, and summer drinks. You order by choosing your type of drink, your flavor, your size, and your toppings. They have pretty average boba drinks. Definitely a place to satisfy your boba cravings, but nothing I'd crave really badly.

We stopped hitting up the Rockville shops because their quality had gone down and snowbots tastes better. But this new shop pops up and it's ever so conveniently located across from our newborn's pediatricians office sooo basically we are always here. Service is always friendly and their drinks, boba, and popcorn chicken are up to par! It's still pricier here and they don't have the same foods as the other jumbos but their quality is way better! Hope they keep it up!

i went to this location twice. hard to find parking in front of the store but you can park on the side of starbucks and safeway. lots of parking spots near the safeway area and it's not even a long walk to jumbo. 3rd jumbo jumbo location i went on sunday with 3 friends and we ordered lots of things and we def ordered fries but they misheard us and gave us wings instead (we did order wings as well but i think we ended up with an extra wing order) so we told them and they apologized and gave us fries. fries were good and hot! i love hot fries! :) taiwanese chicken is always good. i went friday night and we went inside at 7:15 and it took the lady so long to help the group in front of us. she was taking orders but also chatting it up with the lady on the side. :( we finally got to place our order for 2 taiwanese popcorn chicken and 5 drinks. we were finally out around 7:37... i felt like it took way too long. the lady there is nice but she needs more help. since it's fairly new right now i think it's okay but eventually business will pick up. when you order make sure you are specific about wanting grass jelly or lychee jelly. the first time i went, i asked for grass jelly a few times the first time and she continued to say lychee jelly so i had to point out that i wanted grass jelly. the second time, friday, i asked for grass jelly and she repeated grass jelly when she repeated my order, but when i got home i had lychee jelly!!! D: ***** make sure you check your drinks before you leave. i was soooooooo sad when i got home..

I am a regular at their location near Montgomery College (Asia Taste Jumbo), and am delighted that they now have a location closer to my office (and easier to get to). Parking is a bit tight, but otherwise this is a great spot. Really good bubble tea (they import their own boba from Taiwan, and are very careful about the ingredients - Mainland China versions sometimes are made with plasticizers). Their snack foods are great - they bring me back to my youth in Taiwan. Popcorn chicken is a favorite, and they have a "biandang" (box lunch, or Bento) like we used to get at the railway station. The only down side is the effect on my waistline. I give it two snaps and two thumbs up!

Went here with two of my friends one day to get some boba tea. This was actually my first time at any Jumbo Jumbo cafe. One of my friends had actually came here before but had a poor experience with the workers about their free drink coupon. (she wrote a review about it on here) Both of my friends are more familiar with the Rockville location though. I got a strawberry milk tea boba with lychee jelly while my friends bought a blueberry boba and a yogurt boba with bubbles. My strawberry milk tea was pretty good in my opinion. We each tried each others drinks but the blueberry one was gross. The yogurt one was alright. I ended up finishing my strawberry drink while the other two only drank a little less than half and threw the rest away. I don't know what was in those drinks though because after we all went home we ended up getting a stomach ache. Not really sure but I think I'll stick to going to the Rockville location.

I LOVE the Taiwanese chicken! Super delish! This is the only food item I've tried so far. Inexpensive. You have to eat the fresh! A quick on the go snack, good portion too. I've had the bubble tea however not a fan.

Love this place. I always get the popcorn chicken. Too bad there's only a few places that offer the Taiwanese popcorn chicken in our area. It doesn't compare to Cali and Houston but still does the job. You can ask them to give you more spices if it's not spicy enough for ya. Bubble tea is alright. I get the almond milk tea with pudding, that is always a solid choice.

I'm a fan of their Rockville locations, so I'm really happy they came up to Germantown! The store is clean and modern inside, but there is very limited seating. Their Taiwanese popcorn chicken is just as crunchy here and the bubble tea offering is still just as extensive as ever. Parking could be an issue, as the row of spaces is shared with a nail salon, cleaners, and Starbucks, but there's a massive parking lot nearby. You'll just have to walk a little extra to satisfy your cravings. They're currently operating on a limited menu, which means no noodle offerings quite yet, but the star essentials are there.

How can you call yourself a bubble tea cafe but never have the bubbles at noon? This is the fourth (and last) time my wife and I have encountered this issue.

While putting in some gas, I saw this Jumbo Jumbo, and I knew I had to grab some drinks! I've been to their Rockville location, so I knew that their smoothies and boba beverages would be delicious. They have your three sizes: small, large, and jumbo (get the jumbo to quench all that thirst!). The ladies on shift this evening were so unbelievably awesome and oh-so-sweet - Wendy and Euphie!!! :D They also made some great recommendations! I had the Coconut Milk Tea (little ice, no tapioca), Lychee Smoothie (with tapioca), House Black Milk Tea (little ice, no tapioca - creamy and delicious!), and Wendy's favorite, the Lychee Green Tea (little ice, no tapioca - one of my favorites, as it had a lovely flower-y taste to it (which I actually really enjoy!)). Just keep note that you can also request the sweetness level (I ask for 'not too sweet'). Be sure to check out the little board next to the cashier that lists the 'Top 10' drink flavors that changes weekly. The place itself is a little small, with a few tables, but updated and clean. Located behind Sunoco, be sure to stop by! :D +Lychee Green Tea +Coconut Milk Tea +you can control the sweetness +ask for Wendy and Euphie!!! :D +located behind Sunoco

Plenty of parking in the shared plaza lot, some seating inside for you to get your snack on immediately. Friendly service, though only the shift manager really knew what was going on-- no shaved ice until summer makes sense, but not knowing if you had noodles to make the soups that were on the screen menu is a little odd. Taiwan popcorn chicken is solid (no candle to COJ), evenly coated small pieces that aren't as spicy as the reasonable portion of fried string beans. The boba in my jumbo cup stayed cooked through, and the red bean pretty much has no sweetener added-- should've asked for some milk with my ice. Meat takes longer to come out than veg, as to be expected. I'll be back to try the pork dishes as well, and eventually the soups that have passed my scrutiny at the other location.

I went there to get the noodle dish. It was showing on the restaurant's monitor, but the cashier told me they did't have any noodle dish. They didn't seem to have much of anything that I wanted some of the dishes I managed to order were ok. Most were a little too salty for my taste. Bubble drinks were too sweet for my taste.

Just a review of the smoothies. Tastes too sugary and not like there is real fruit in it. Obviously made with mostly syrups. Disappointed!

Love love love this locaton! First, the interior decoration is just so cute and "chinese". I mean you travel to China, Vietnam, Asia, Japan... and you'll see pretty asian coffee shops like this, instead of just brick and steel, some tables and chairs. Their menu design is just so cute too! Second, the staff is so friendly. I like the cashier girl! She gave me samples like "grass jelly" and "pudding" to try and gave me information of promotion ahead of time. And the menu is limited on food but that's okay, because I just need their famous Taiwanese chicken! I think they also have combos that you get one dish and boba for a lower price (I'm not sure) :-?

YES finally a bubble tea joint in Germantown! My days of trekking out to Rockville Pike are over. I'm a huge fan of Jumbo Jumbo's other locations and was thrilled to hear that they had opened nearby. The location is small but has a decent amount of seating - may not be good for large groups though. Same bubble tea menu as the other locations (black milk tea with red bean is by far my favorite). The food menu is much less diverse but the cashier assured me that they would be adding noodle soups and shaved ice within the next couple of months. The famous Taiwanese popcorn chicken is here though and highly recommended. Boyfriend and I got the BBQ chicken with ground pork over rice. Almost everything on their menu is fried, so we opted for this entree. Very simple dish but felt like comfort food. Not too oily and a decent portion size for the price. Will definitely be a frequent visitor here!

I had the #1 the Taiwaneese Chicken and a Mango Smoothie. Chicken Well, I am trying to eat light so I rarely order fried food but I felt as if had to try it considering it came with a solid recommendation by the young lady who took my order. It was pretty dam tasty, you can taste basil leafs, some curry seasoning and pepper on the chicken. It really left me wanting more because of how good it was but I held back on ordering a second serving. Smoothie I love their mango smoothie, they make it on the spot and it just gives you that perfect sugar rush to go with your meal. The place was super clean and the service was on point, I have to give this place a Five Star. Keep it up!

The place looks fun and modern which is nice. I ordered and sat down and waited and waited and waited... I finally stood up and walked over in front of the counter and they asked if I was waiting for something. They had forgotten to write down my order. But they quickly made me my drink and were very apologetic. Im not one to have a short fuse so I wasnt all that mad, it was just a small slip up. I got the passion fruit milk tea and it was awesome! And the pearls were good too. I'll have to try their food sometime.

I know this place is known for bubble tea so was excited to try it since I was craving some.... But service sucked, they got our orders wrong, and the tapioca tastes super old. The taro milk tea is very watery and the honeydew smoothie doesn't look or taste like honey dew. It tastes like a mixture of honeydew and lychee. How could they get everything wrong? I'm definitely giving it one more try and hoping they just had a bad day today.

Like this place for bubble tea/ basil chicken snack, but behold I was transferred to a crappy area so, just when one of my favorites comes to uptown I got to go down county, sucks to be me sometimes:( Guess I got to go back to Rockville but this one was sooooo close........ And so easy to get to oh well......... it's next to the Merecedes dealership adjacent to Sunoco

Loved the chicken dish. Crispy, hot and salty. Perfect crunch. Call ahead and order if you're going to pick up because they do fry them when they get the order and not before, in batches. My problem is the pork on rice part of the dishes, since I can't eat pork so it ended up being a little dry for me (there's no other gravy) Maybe if they offered a choice between ground pork and ground beef over rice it'd be more accessible to a larger customer base. I asked about the noodles and soups and they said when it was warmer weather. So I hope that means in a week or two. Of course bubble tea was great. I always get mango flavored tea, but one of these days I'll go out of my comfort zone :P All in all, a good place if you really love fried taiwanese style chicken.

Just as good as the Shady Grove location! Love love love the taiwanese fried chicken. Very authentic. Comes out hour, crispy and just the right amount of spicy. Get the combo because the pork rice also great!

What a rip off!!! I've been coming here to give them a try. There bubble smoothies are descent. I have a loyalty card that I just filled up with 10 stars. All 10 stars I received were from me buying a large 20oz bubble smoothie. I went in today because my card was full and the loyalty card said's free small 16oz bubble tea. So I requested my regular but in a small size and they said they couldn't do a smoothie because the only thing you can earn is a small bubble tea not a smoothie!! I've never had bubble tea only there smoothies. I don't think that it's very fair that to fill up they're loyalty card I purchased large bubble smoothies and you can't earn what you have been paying for. You have to get smaller size and it can't even be a smoothie. I will go back to my regular bubble smoothie place from now on, they are awesome there and a lot cheaper for a large I would pay $5 at this new place it's $6.10!!! This is what I get for trying a new business that honestly isn't great!! Mr. K's is wayyyy better!!!

New location to compliment their two Rockville area locations. They offer the same Taiwanese style cuisine from their other two locations, but in a limited capacity. You can currently find the more popular appetizers and rice dishes, such as the Taiwanese Chicken and Pork Chop with Rice. They also have bubble tea, which is something that has been lacking in the areas north of Rockville. Seating is very limited and would recommend a to-go order. Parking can be cumbersome as there are limited spaces along the side of the building but spaces are plentiful around the corner by the supermarket.

They mailed out coupons for their grand opening and one of them stated "FREE boba. no purchase necessary." It did not state from select flavors only. I went in today and tried to use it, but they stated that I could only choose between the flavors they chose for me. I told them that the coupon did not state that and it clearly said "FREE boba. no purchase necessary." and that they were false advertising. I'm really disappointed in their service. Also the choices they gave me, green tea and black milk tea tasted horrible.

Much like the other 2 locations except with a drastically reduced menu. Essentially, they are only offering fried foods and bubble tea. Word is that soups and noodle options are coming in the future. Other than that, this is your typical Jumbo Jumbo place - overpriced Taiwanese street foods. On the plus side, this location actually has nice employees.

This location isn't as good as the other two locations in Rockville. They don't have noodles yet. In addition, I love the ground pork with egg on rice at the Rockville locations but they don't make it as good here. They don't put enough sauce in the rice so it's kind of dry. You can't really go wrong with the fried taiwanese chicken but it still seemed a bit off. Maybe I went on a bad day. I always get the black milk tea with bubbles but their bubbles don't seem fully cooked (it's kind of hard in the middle). I decided to try their special-spicy chicken wings with ground pork on rice. The sauce on the chicken wings was kind of weird...it wasn't spicy.. It had some sort of sweetness to it and overall just drenched in sauce. Again, the ground pork on rice was really dry. I gave this place two chances but I'm not sure I'd be back any time soon.

After school, I usually come here with my sister. It is our favorite tea place :) I love honey black tea with bubbles and strawberry combine banana smoothie. They also offer me a card to get the eleventh tea for free. In addition, I enjoy eating taiwan chickens too. Every time I came, the staff are always friendly and kind. Highly recommend

Haven't tried the bubble tea here yet but i did try the chicken, It is very crispy and juicy, I'm not sure what my friend ordered but it was yummy. Dare I say a bit better than Bon Chon??!! I'll update my review once I order more.

Went here for the first time today. Got their spicy fried chicken wings/ground pork/rice, pork chop/egg/ground pork, and a milk tea with bubbles. Very impressed with the flavor of the food, and those take out containers were packed full - generous portions for the price, and pretty quick, too! As they are still new, they didn't yet have everything in their menu (no soup, not all of the tea flavors)... but will definitely come back again to try other menu items! Parking is what it is, a single row of spaces right in front... but it definitely beats having to go inside Lakeforest Mall or making the drive to Rockville for something comparable. Just get some gas and walk over- it's not a big deal, and there are usually at least a couple spaces that will open up in no time. They are also very friendly... I was on a crutch, and the guy was so nice and helped me get condiments and opened the door for me. I hope they put signs along Route 118, so they get more traffic. I went because of a mailer that had coupons.

Awesome service-people are much friendlier than Rockville location! Food menu is currently only a portion of the full menu-appetizers and a few main courses. They say the full menu will be available in the next few weeks. The Taiwanese fried chicken is delicious-salted&basily with just the right amount of spice! The Boba is the same as other locations& doesn't disappoint! Limited seating-only 10 seats in the whole place. I'm glad they finally opened in Germantown! Parking is tricky in front of store but there is plenty of parking just around the corner by Starbucks.

  • Sam L.

What the pork? Limited menu with lots of rice. If you want the classic Taiwanese fried chicken, pork over rice and bubble tea, they have them. But most of the entrees are pork over rice + another ingredient, which means you better love their appetizers and pork if you come here for dinner. They don't have noodles or hot beverages, so we ended up getting more pork. Seating is very limited, with 4-5 small tables on the side, and parking spots are labeled 1-hour only, but hard to say if that's actually enforced. Despite them getting our order wrong twice, they were polite in handling our food and transaction. Jumbo Jumbo in Germantown will remain a good snack place until they come out with a full menu, and we will wait to come back to this location until then. It's located behind the gas station, and not in the actual town center.
