Great surprise in frostburg. Good selection of drafts. Sushi is city quality. Definitely will be back.

We had a very good time. The sushi was awesome. Volcano rolls is are a must. It was quiet and sitting next to the fire was warm and friendly.

We ate here upon arrival from the Western Scenic Rail Road and what a surprise. I was a bit hesitant that we were eating Sushi 2.5 hours inland but Frostburg doesn't offer much so we tried it out. The owner greeted us and offered some new beer that they had on draft and talked for a while about other quirky restaurants around Baltimore and Maryland, really nice guy. Our Sushi came out and I ordered Yum Yum Rolls and my GF ordered Rich Rolls and they were some of the best Sushi Rolls I have ever ordered. You can tell when fish is frozen, not these little guys. The staff was great, the beer was cold, and the Sushi was perfect. Great place to eat in Frostburg.

What could you really expect from a Japanese restaurant in the middle of nowhere Maryland? The servers were all nice and their food decent. It's one of those places catered to westerners with crab rangoon, hot and sour soup, tempura, pad thai, and Mac and cheese for kids. Their actual sushi rolls were pretty tasty. It was a really convenient stop for our train ride though, just at the top of the hill.

The service and sushi was fine the first time I visited, and the atmosphere on a weekend night was a fun mix between dive bar and sushi restaurant. But my last order was carry out, and they're lucky I was too far to consider driving back to return the order. There was so little fish and filling that the part of the roll that is usually "inside" the seaweed was actually filled out with rice. All I could taste was rice. I also bit into something crunchy in a roll containing only avocado and raw salmon. Nothing crunchy about either of them. In the end I pulled a full serving of rice off the rolls to make them palatable. I'd excuse them for the location, but I've lived in a small town with three amazing sushi restaurants so I expect better.

Good rolls! Nice service! Had fantastic music. Definitely caters to a more "Merikan" palate, but it's cool.

The food is okay and the staff are wonderful. The do have thing to do one certain days like karoke for example. The place does have a sport bar feel to it.

This used to be my favorite sushi place ever! I would order chicken tempura and a California roll until I got a carry out order that contained a large black hair. After that encounter a friend and I went to dine in. During that experience, the server was on the phone while taking our order and while dropping off our food. I want to love the food here because it is excellent. However, the last few times have been quite disappointing.

We stopped here on our drive back to DC from Ohio. The waitstaff was incredibly nice but not knowledgable -- when we asked what beers were on tap she responded: "Not much. But we have everything in bottles." The food was edible (not good!) but waaaay overpriced. $15 for veg sushi roll entree which was tiny. No soup or salad accompanied it. The atmosphere is best described as college dive bar. We will not stop here next time we drive through to see family. I would rather have Taco Bell.

It's pretty good for a small sushi place in the mountains. The food I've had (I usually only order sushi and some appetizers) has always been good. I've only ordered take-out and delivery from them, and my experiences haven't been so good regarding their customer service. Every time I've picked up, I've had to wait a few minutes for someone to greet me - once, there were three people sitting there watching TV and didn't say anything. And they have a bell on their door that rings when people walk in, so it's not like they don't know that I'm there. But when I had my food delivered, the woman was very nice and friendly (even though she got lost, but she called me to ask for directions). She was a different person from when I went to pick up my food. Overall, it's a little overpriced but good sushi when you're craving it. Edit: I just ordered take-out, and when I went in, the girl at the bar was friendly and attentive right away. I was in and out in a minute. However, when I got home, there was a bug right on top of my salmon lover roll. Unfortunately it was my largest order so I didn't see it right away. Disappointing :(

Superb. This place is a pleasant surprise. Frostburg isn't a town with a lot of ethnic food choices. I stopped here on a business trip and had some of the best sushi I've had anywhere. They take American Express, and have quick, excellent service. Absolutely, a must go.

Four stars because the sushi is AWESOME. Would be five stars, but the service and atmosphere is lacking. Servers are sloppily dressed and unprofessional, but nice enough. Usually only one sushi chef working, so we typically wait a bit longer than we would like. Las Vegas roll and Dynamite roll keep us coming back time after time!!

The atmosphere and people were great. The service speed was okay at best. We went in on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't very busy inside and the service was not as fast as we wished but it was satisfactory. The draw back that we ran into was price. I was there with two other people for sushi and our bill with tip was about 100 dollars. I have no problem with spending money on good food but this food just didn't live up to its price. I know the other sushi places in the area are not much difference in price but the quality of the food is better in my opinion. I still stop in for a drink and a meal now and again but unfortunately the sushi did not live up to the great expectations I had heard about.

The food is way overpriced to be so mediocre, granted it's better that Eastern Express, but that's not a high standard to begin with.

My boyfriend and I took the scenic train tide from Cumberland (which is GREAT! Definitely give that a try!) We had an hour to spend in Frostburg and decided to get lunch here. Service was really really bad. 4 customers in the entire restaurant and it still took 25 minutes to get our 1 sushi roll and 2 sashimi. The sushi chef literally ignored us when we started asking a few questions and the waitress had no clue what we were talking about (when requesting beers on tap). I can't speak for the locals, but if you are coming from out of town and want a relaxing place to have lunch, skip this place. Only reason it isn't a 1 star is because the sushi was actually pretty good. If you do go here, try the Frostburg roll.

Best Sushi in the Tr-State hands down. Nice place to ride the trail to and grab a beer. The bar is stocked with quality beer on tap and they are getting progressively classier inside

I love this place! I'm so glad it moved to Frostburg. It's been opened longer than 7/4 but that was when they got their liquor license so that's what counts. The people who work there are super friendly. The sushi was awesome and we were there before they had their liquor license so they let us run up to the liquor store and grab some stuff to bring in and offered to refrigerate it for us. The 4th bash in Frostburg was a blast. Zen-Shi has a great beer station out front and then we went in for sushi (what could be more American) when it got really hot out. I don't remember the name of the rolls I've had each time I've gone but they were all delicious. Welcome to Frostburg!!

Went back for a second time just for the Flying Dog draft party and had a great time! The staff was overwhelmed with the turnout but handled it well and we tried 7 of the different Flying Dog beers. My favorite was Vineyard Blonde and my husband liked the Luck SOB.
