Yum! Breakfast is the best meal of the day...especially if there is bacon! Waffle House is something you find while driving on the Interstate. They are open 24 hours and they serve real food, real fast and cook it right in front of you! I have been to this Frederick Waffle House many times. It is right down the street from the 24 hour Walmart and I think it is a hoot to drive 30 minutes to Frederick and peruse the almost empty store in the wee hours of the morning! If you finish before 1am, you can stop at the Sonic right next door, but if it is later then you have to stop here at the Waffle House! I am addicted to their biscuits and sausage gravy because they butter toast their biscuits before slathering on the yummy goodness! You can get 2 whole biscuits for $3. I usually have the All-Star breakfast ($8) because it is so cheap and comes with so much food! Waffle, 2 eggs, choice of bacon, sausage or ham, grits, toast and coffee (any drink). For a little bit more, you can make your waffle snazzy with pecans, chocolate chips, strawberries, blueberries or peanut butter. Don't look for frills. I like to sit at the counter and watch all the action. For me, this is an old fashioned diner. Prices keep going up slowly. They have 15 meals for $5 if you are on a budget. Pretty good price as they all include a drink with refills. You can get your hashbrowns (or eggs) scattered with extra goodness added for $0.40 for each topping. I recommend the grilled onions, green peppers and mushrooms. You can also get cheese, ham, tomatoes, jalapenos, chili or sausage gravy. This visit on a late Friday night (or early Saturday morning), the two of us had a waffle, 4 scrambled eggs, toast, hashbrowns with onions and mushrooms, 2 biscuits with gravy, double cheeseburger, coffee and ice tea for $15.79 (tax included). We rolled out of there pretty stuffed! This is not health food although they do have salads and even entrees like steaks, pork chops and grilled chicken. Think greasy diner and delicious food for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Breakfast is served all day long. Shoot! So is dinner! Pretty much their whole menu is available at any time. How great is that? **When it is not busy, you can sit anywhere you want. There are no busboys and depending on how busy they are, dirty dishes can remain on the table for a while.

Very friendly staff, probably the most pleasant we have come across since moving to the area. It's rare to see everyone socializing with all the customers and not just their tables so it made my morning. A big shout out to our server Alex for being awesome. The food was really tasty and hot, I enjoyed the hashbrowns and country gravy a lot!

I visited this Waffle House around 10am on a Saturday morning, and they were, as usual, very busy. The hostess was doing her best to get everyone seated, but it was clear she was a bit overwhelmed. A family walked out because she didn't notice them to have them on her list for a table. In the hostess defense, they didn't make an effort to get her attention either. My boyfriend and I were soon seated and our waitress was impeccable. She was speedy and very attentive. She was the kind of waitress that truly cared about her guests. The food was, as usual, very tasty and reasonably priced. Can't wait to return!

I've been to WaHo's throughout the country, and this was, by FAR, the single best staff of any I've visited. Super friendly, attentive, and courteous not only to us, but to all of their co-workers. The line cooks were taking active pride in each plate going out perfectly, helped each other, and served up good WaHo fare. The items we wanted weren't on the condensed menu, but they made them without on problem. Sweet tea wasn't too sweet. Clean, good location, and hit the spot to perfection!

We came to the Waffle House hoping for a filling weekend breakfast, and we got what we intended. Be aware that there is no fresh food on the menu - no fruits, no vegetables. There are also no tables that seat 6, so we crammed ourselves around a table for 4, holding plates in our laps. The hash browns were undercooked (sautéed onions still crunchy). Everything tastes like it was previously frozen, but tasted good, was inexpensive, and came quickly. The bright spot was our server, Ni Te. She was attentive, got our very convoluted orders perfect on the first try, and was very friendly without disrupting our meal. She is such an excellent waitress that we commented her skill is wasted here!

5pm dinner time - ordered the double burger with hashbrowns & onions. They were delicious. Makes me realize we need more waffle houses around the country! Waitress Brittney I believe was very polite & courteous. The young man who made the food was very professional & polite as well. $7 bucks for the meal, I'll definitely be returning!

It was OK I guess. First off it was bloody freezing in there, so I could hardly enjoy myself. I'm a person who is usually HOT, and I had to order a hot chocolate in the middle of July. The food was mediocre. Not what I expect from a waffle house. Maybe this was a "northern" waffle house and not one of the southern chain (trust me, they are different). The waffles were terrible. There was nothing brown about my hash browns, and I paid extra for mushrooms and only got 2 pieces of mushroom. The gravy on the biscuits was awful and she glooped so much on there I couldn't find my biscuits anyway. I didn't finish my food and left with a slightly upset stomach. I normally LOVE diners, but this one didn't deliver in any way. :(

A group of friends and I came here for breakfast on our way to Harpers Ferry. It is a pretty small diner and fills up pretty quickly, but the wait is pretty short. The food is not too bad, but heavy on butter and oil. For a place called the Waffle House, you'd expect really good waffles, but this taste like something you can from the frozen section of the supermarket. Maybe I am more of a pancake person? The food is really affordable. For two eggs, hashbrown, and toast, it will cost about $4. Not bad, right? However, you do not want to keep coming back because you will probably die early from all of this artery clogging food!

I should have remembered what a friend once said - that waffle house is nicknamed 'awful house'! The food tastes good and is not expensive, but being a vegetarian, i did not feel good seeing a piece of ham on my serving of hash browns! The place is very busy and quite dirty.

I don't care what anyone says, this place is amazing. I will sometimes go here alone when I am making the trek up Interstate 70 to my native central Pennsylvania. My girlfriend and I even make the trek from College Park sometimes. I'm telling you what, get those hashbrowns with a little cheese and you're in heaven. The signs that say "try our world famous hashbrowns" do not lie. The waffles are amazing lathered with butter and some of their delicious hot syrup. They also have an awesome one dollar egg and cheese biscuit. This is a great quality breakfast for when you are poor and on the road. Treat yourself right.

Waffle HOUSE! it wasn't all that clean when I was there -- but the place rocks. Don't take life too seriously, don't get too crazy with your order, and just enjoy the whipped cream, canned strawberries, and a place devoid of the pretentiousness which fills the District of Columbia

I grew up with Waffle Houses and love to visit one when I'm traveling. They're why I do break down and go to chains...for their consistency...not blandness. This was a pretty good one. Quick, cheap, and tasty! What's not to like. Guess I've been living in Texas long enough...I used to always get my hash browns with chili and cheese...this time I also added jalapenos. Yum. Two complaints though...it was cold inside...and my waffle could have been crispier. Had more of a pancake consistency.

It is not a bad WH. I take my kids there frequently, as you can get waffles with pecans, blueberries, choc chips or just plain. The service is always friendly and very prompt. The food is always hit or miss - depending on the cook. One trip will be perfect: crisp waffles, perfectly cooked bacon, hash browns seared to a golden brown. The next trip will be disaster: waffles barely cooked, bacon burned to ash, and hash browns so undercooked they are still cold in the middle.

This place gets the job done. My friend and I both ordered two eggs with hashbrowns and a side of toast as well as a waffle on the side to share. My eggs came exactly as ordered (over easy) and the hashbrowns were cooked to the right level of crispyness! The waffle was a bit soft and soggy, in my opinion. I still prefer frozen Eggo waffles over Waffle House waffles o_O. There's nothing particularly spectacular about this place, but nothing really rubs me the wrong way either.

My boyfriend is from the south so Waffle House makes him nostalgic. The food is on par with any other greasy breakfast all day joint, except it has that old school American "Didn't get the cue" pre-Y2K greasiness (akin to chinese carryout) that a place like Denny's doesn't have. The crowd is usually blue-collar, with a sprinkling of the random teenager / 20 somethings. The food is cheap and the coffee isn't bad, so I don't mind going. My gripe is with the service though. Regardless of whether the place is filled or empty, its slow and they don't get it right. On my last trip, I asked for chili, mushrooms, and tomatoes on my hash browns- I got mushrooms, jalapenos, and cheese. Good try, but one out of three right would make you flunk a grade in academia. I don't waste food though, so I pick out the jalapenos and ate it. And when you order their burgers, they never give you the toppings. I asked, and the cooks assembled it quickly, but the waiter forgot about it for the next 5-10 minutes. I did not even get a single refill on my coffee which was the biggest disappointment. It's the only thing I even really cared about and pretty much the most rudimentary skill a waiter should have. I wouldn't really mind if service is slow or if its not right if my cup was filled the entire time. Most people who drink coffee on a Sunday afternoon are probably fiends and care about that coffee.

Waffle House has never really impressed me much. I am not sure why, but it's a lower grade of food that Denny's which is already pretty damn low. My last foray to the south end had me going for french toast and bacon, neither of which were hot. I am giving an extra star because the tables appeared clean and I think the egg salad sandwich machine in the men's room was recently replaced by a condom machine, or a paper towel rack, I couldn't quite tell them apart.

Okay, it's a Waffle House, yes. I know. But it's got a lot of things going for it, among them: - it's one of the first restaurants available after that long sumbitch stretch of highway coming from 70W - it's CLEAN - the wait staff are young and friendly - the hashbrowns. GO ALL THE WAY. - there's a jukebox (6 songs for a dollar, what a steal), with a hilarious selection of modern music and bad country. - they cook like a real diner should: with tubloads of butter *actual monologue* me: hmmm... a double cheeseburger sounds like too much meat... i should probably get somethi--OH BUT A DOUBLE BACON CHEESEBURGER, that's not too much meat. i'll have one of those please. I will gladly return if I'm out on 70/270.

First off, for the most part the workers are really nice folks, and the servers are always checking up on you. Some reviews are saying it's dirty, but I can't help but wonder if those writing said reviews have ever worked in a commercial kitchen or not. The cooking area is kept pretty clean in my opinion, and I often see them cleaning when they are not serving or cooking. But, on to the food. Honestly, this place is a hit-or-miss because it depends on who makes your food, and cooks change pretty frequently. The first time I visited this location, I really enjoyed my meal. I had a waffle with butter and syrup, two sunny-side-up eggs, toast, and bacon. The waffle tasted good for what I'd expect from a commercial chain that is more along the lines of fast food; it was soft but crispy on the outside, not soggy at all. The bacon was delicious - chewy and slightly crispy, and the toast was a light golden brown. The eggs were not oily/greasy as far as I could tell. The second time I stopped by, about two days later, there were two different servers in the cooking area. My bacon ended up dry and ashy, and my toast was a bit blackened and tasted burnt. Another time, when I brought my boyfriend, he had a piece of hair in his sandwich and they forgot my bacon. When I did get it, it was cold and overcooked. I would say my good/mediocre experiences are sort of 50-50 at this location, but I still go for lunch when I'm craving breakfast food. Staff is friendly and the food is fast, and the quality is about what I'd expect from a chain diner.
