Whoever said this was American traditional. I never tried their duck balls but, I'm sure they are tasty . The menu also, listed Boar, and Bison. My wife had a steak sandwich she said was moist and tender. I would 'nt know, I opted for the fish and chips. They were good also. I'd eat there again ... my wife had a Groupon coupon.

Tried it again, with same results. Cold food, poor service, management that just doesn't seem to care. After my last visit, I figured maybe they were just having a tough night, and wanted to give it another try. Don't think these folks could find their gluteus Maximus with both hands and a flashlight. Will not return. I work too hard for my money to spend it here ever again.

We arrived at the end of the lunch rush. John noticed us waiting to be seated, he offered and cleaned a table for us. John was very personable. We started with the Bison Chili. It was very flavorful, the ingredients all tasted fresh. The tortilla chips were warm, crunchy and also fresh tasting. The chili was very warm, not hot. We ordered a Breakfast Burger with Bison and a Flying Dog Burger. Both were cooked as ordered. Everything was fresh, the buns, toppings and meats. My bun had been toasted but the grill left an annoying burnt odor on it. Two observations about the environment, and why I did not give 5 stars. The ceiling had some stuff hanging from it, towards the middle of the dining area. It might have been from decorations, it gave me the impression of dirtiness. The tables had generic salt and pepper. I saw Heinz ketchup on a table. I felt this did not go with the healthy, natural, local sourced aspect being offered. I spoke to the owner and recommend he look into making the condiments compliment the theme. It made me wonder what quality seasonings are being used in the kitchen. Do the match the quality meats and produce or is the kitchen introducing unnatural, unhealthy highly procseed seasoning into the mix?

I've been to The Lodge 5 or 6 times, and I've found it to be very inconsistent. The food ranges from really great to pretty bad, and they have been out of my first choice on more than one occasion. Moreover, the place has a very awkward vibe. The servers that I've had were poorly trained, and seemed really uncomfortable in their job. Some have been flat out wrong on information they provided me, I had to show one of them a menu to prove to them when happy hour started. It's also very quiet, you can hear the kitchen staff and other people's conversations from across the room. I personally don't feel comfortable speaking at full volume in an environment like that, and it can be easily fixed by simply piping in some music. Not to mention the huge clunky uncomfortable furniture. I honestly wouldn't have raised an eyebrow if they had just painted over the World of Wings logos and kept the previous stuff (as they did with the TVs). Overall it seems like a cool concept, and thats about it. They clearly spent a TON of money theming the place, but with their rising prices and the inability to keep par-stock, it seems they should have kept some of that in the bank. Definite potential here, but it looks like theres a lot of work to do.

After reading the unique menu I was looking forward to dining at The Lodge unfortunately the service nor food lived up to my expectations The Food: I myself had the meatloaf that was composed of deer, elk and one other wild game. It was served as round medallions and cold!! Yes cold. Not one warm spot anywhere on the plate I informed the waitress who took it back to the kitchen and within 30 seconds it was back on the table. Now piping hot. Thanks but I'd rather not eat microwaved food. Nonetheless I packed it in a to go box and thought my hybrid cat would like it.....even he turned his nose up. The Service: Worst than the food! I assume our waitress was new because she knew very little about the menu. If not for the waitress at a nearby table who saw our frustration and stepped in to answer questions I would've given my overall experience zero stars.

My husband has been wanting to try The Lodge for a while, and after hearing there were exotic animals/meats on the menu I was done for the trek to Frederick. Atmosphere: Not a super fancy place. Typical family kind of restaurant in a strip mall. I liked the stuff on the wall. There is a TV at each booth, and some larger ones in the bar area. Overall the place was clean, but I nearly broke my leg walking near the bathrooms as the floor was soaked and slippery. Food: We shared the Bison Chili Fries, which was huge and delicious. I was dying to try the kangaroo which was on the menu, as I have had beef, elk, wild boar and lamb before. The burger was good and cooked to my desired doneness, but I can't help but feel like I missed out on something by having it as a burger. I couldn't figure out another way to try it if not in burger form. Service: It was a bit after lunch and it was a little slow. The manager (owner?) stopped by the table to check on us.

I really wanted to love this place. I like farm-to-table restaurants, and I heard that The Lodge is committed to cruelty free farming. Unfortunately, the experience fell short. My mom and I went for Saturday lunch. When we entered the restaurant three high school aged staff stared at us for an awkward moment and then finally asked us how many were in our party. I think the onus is on the staff in the hospitality industry to put the customer at ease, rather than making them feel just a little weird. I ordered the Lodge salad with salmon. The salad was tasty, but the salmon was dry. My mom got the chili dog with onion rings. Very good onion rings, but lukewarm dog. The food wasn't good enough to overcome the service. It was pretty empty for a lunch hour, but we still had to ask for drink refills. Nothing was terrible, but nothing was good enough to bring me back. Maybe my expectations were just too high.

Wow, what a great experience! The lodge offers a great selection of beers and awesome food you dont see everyday in Frederick Maryland. Erik the owner came out to personally see how our food was and gave us an off menu sampler which we devoured and I hope he adds it to the menu! It was Lamb meatballs and it was divine! The farm to table tagline enticed us and glad we decided to give it a try it was well worth the wait! The atmosphere is very cozy and warm and inviting and my business associate and I enjoyed our dining experience. We will certainly be back as the food, drink and staff was top notch with excellent pricing. This little gem is a great find in Frederick!

I wanted to have lunch at the lodge with two buddies of mine. As I proceeded to open the door, it remained shut. This happened a few times. I looked at one of my buddies and said, are we too early? I looked up on the main door and noticed a small sign that mentioned the lodge will be permanently closed. Our other buddy had a better experience. He was so enthusiastic to eat at The Lodge, he tried opening the door with all his might, it didn't open and he smashed his face in..... I possibly could have given this place 4 stars if I had dined.

Why have I waited so long to try The Lodge? I've always passed by The Lodge but the rustic decor and dark ambience never seemed to pull me in.. That was until a cold wintery afternoon when my best friend made a recommendation based on her past experience here. SOLD, if my best-FOODIE-friend said its good, it's probably good. She wasn't lying. The Lodge is mostly organic, the meats are organic and locally sourced when permitted. Which is deff right up my alley, SAY NO TO GMO! (Automatic 5 stars for being so earth & health conscious.) The decor and ambience is actually quit nice very rustic, last frontier, cozy by the fireplace type of setting. The host and server we had were both very friendly, even other servers who'd come by and ask us if we needed anything were friendly (much appreciated.) My friend ordered the crap dip, which of course I freebie-d off of; it was tasty. The only thing I would change is the consistency of the dip, I like a chunkier dip whereas The Lodge's version was much more silky and smooth. (Not bad, but id prefer HUGE chunks of crab meat and mile long strings of gooey cheese.) After going over the HUGE menu I settled on the Jerk Chicken Sandwich which both she and my sister said were great. I opted out of the bun and instead asked for lettuce wraps (PROTEIN STYLE, I'm 80% vegetarian? Lol) I also ordered the fries and then to balance the guilty feeling of fatty goodness, I of course added a side salad. DUH. The Jerk Chicken was tasty, having had my fair share of Jamaican cuisine this one was pretty tasty for a "last frontier" type of restro. It was also served with a slice of grilled pineapple and pico de gallo, which in my opinion were WINNERS. You get the heat from the jerk seasoning, mellowed out by the sweet pineapple and then polished off by the acidic pico.. Such an odd trio of tastiness. *round of applause of Ingenuity* The portions seem small but the prices are fair, people always assume organic means MILLIONAIRES CLUB but The Lodge debunks that myth. Fries were perfectly FRIED. The salad was a good topper for the meal, it made me feel like I was doing something right! Lol My friends got the Bison Cuban Sandwich and something I can no longer recall... Both, of which they couldn't stop celebrating. So it must've been great. Before we finished, the store owner or manager came out to ask us about our experience which is always a nice touch. They also have a fully stocked bar but being it was 2PM I passed in hopes my friend's children wouldn't mistake me as Mommy & Daddy's drunk friend. Haha, go adult Marley! All in all, I will deff be back.

Came again with a Groupon deal. Service was meh; waitress checked on us once and we had empty beverages for approximately 20 minutes. Seating is still awkwardly set up. We were crammed next to a large party with several squealing children who kept bumping into our chairs and table since there is no room for navigation between. Food temperature is always on the cooler side; seems like it sits for a while before being brought to the table. I want to love this place but it keeps falling short of the mark.

Saw this restaurant while walking in the plaza the other day and decided to give it a try. I saw that they are 100% organic and everything was local farmed. I thought it was neat. Let me just say this was the best find. The customer service was great. We had Kristen serve my brother, my son and I. She was really sweet and suggested the very best. We loved her! She definitely made our first experience worth it. Anyways, We had the alligator bites for start off. I was a bit intimidated trying out alligator meat, but then I thought why not try something new. No regrets! We loved it! It was completely juicy and cooked to perfection. I had the Mediterranean salad with salmon, my son had the kids burger and my brother had the kangaroo burger which he really enjoyed. The place it self was really neat. The decor it self was like being in a actual lodge. Very comfy and welcoming restaurant. They also had tv's on each booth with sport channels a bar all the way in the back. I'll definitely come back to this restaurant for sure to try out more of the items on the menu. They have so much to choose from and it all looks so delicious! I really appreciate the fact that they are organic, local and not expensive.

Blown away! This place is in a league of its own. The owner gives you meat options like local grass fed beef, local grass fed bison, kangaroo, lamb or wild boar. You HAVE to try the onion rings. They are fresh and REALLY hand battered. Not the "hand battered" that comes out of a bag in the freezer. Everyone here was friendly and more than happy to help. The owner is great. He is so patient and friendly. I was new to try the bison and took his suggestion to have it cooked medium rare (I'm normally a medium well kind of girl) and I'm so glad I did. The bison was so lean, juicy, and fresh. We will be coming back again soon!

I don't think this place is anything great. I'm vegan and went here specifically for a veggie burger they had advertised on their menu, and when I went to order the server said they were out of them and didn't know if they would be on the menu anymore. There really wasn't anything else for me to eat. I ended up with a portobello mushroom wrap and just altered it. Also, the menu says they specialize in local, organic ingredients, but I really didn't see anything organic on the menu. A lot of their food on the menu looked fried and just not what I'm into eating.

Local and unusual meats, local beers, and a casual atmosphere. What isn't to like. Snake head fish bites are amazing and a great way to deal with an invasive species, eat it. I love the variety of meats available and they gave friendly staff.

Wait to get in is long but worth it. I got the Reuben and it was awesome. They make chips there but accidentally burnt my friends order. I think they just need to fire one of the chefs, but the owner was there when we went and he was very friendly and asked us how everything was, not in the normal way, he actually wanted honest feedback and genuinely wants to keep improving the business which was really nice to experience. Any issues we had with the order were redone with no fuss. I think they allow you to be specific with your order so don't be afraid to tell them to spice it up how you like it when you go there, they'll do whatever they can to make your entre amazing.

We really enjoyed our first trip to The Lodge the service was great particularly our very sweet and upbeat server who's name I think was Lindsey? To start off we both ordered beers from their fairly extensive list and shared the Duck Balls (thanks yelp for the freebie) which despite the silly name were very tasty. A little spicy for one of us but the flavor was awesome! I ordered the Mediterranean burger with the Lamb patty and a side salad. Let me tell you it was awesome! The perfect amount of feta that didn't overpower the flavor of the lamb my only negative comment is the dill in the sauce or slaw was a little heavy handed but still tasty. Also, I was thrilled that the side salad was more than just the bowl of iceberg that I expected there was romaine and even some spinach and NO CHEESE!!! (The person that decided all Restaurants should put cheese on salad is my mortal enemy) My partner asked for a recommendation between the elk and the bison and our waitress pointed out that the elk had a more deer-like flavor where the bison was a more gamy beef flavor. So, being a south western PA native the opportunity to eat something deer like in Frederick solidified his choice for the elk. His was also very delicious and did have a light deer like flavor. Overall I was impressed. I had heard mixed reviews but I am glad we decided to make our own! The cherry on top of the cake was seeing the owner patrolling the dining room checking on tables and asking his employees if they needed anything. Kudos sir, kudos!

I went to the lodge this week because I understood they had a unique selection of meats. It turns out not only do they have a unique selection but also some of the best tasting food I've had in a while. I had the kangaroo burger. It was done medium rare per my request with some amazing sweet potato fries. The service was great and although I didn't have any beers I saw they have a nice beer selection with flying dog. If you're in the area and looking for some awesome food do not hesitate to try this place!

Went here a couple of times. The wild boar has a nice flavor, but my favorite is the grilled cheese (with bacon) and adding duck (extra $2 charge). Delicious. I always go for the sweet potato fries. First time I ordered it they were cold/undercooked, but I just flagged down the waiter and he brought me a fresh hot batch in no time! Shout to John (the waiter)! He's always courteous and has a smile, which makes for great service.

The creativity of the menu and decor alone make this a worth while destination. If it's your first time make sure to review the menu as you'll certainly have options you've never explored. Our only issue was service wasn't great as they were out of creamers for coffee and served milk instead in a kids cup....very tacky. Everything else was great.

I felt like being adventurous and tried their alligator bites. I must say they were delicious! I ordered a maryland my maryland burger (turkey). The burger and topping (crab) really didn't have much flavor which was disappointing. The fresh cut fries were good, but again no seasoning. I split a milkshake (which was huge) with my date. It was delicious as well. I would come back for the alligator bites and shake but not the burger.

Who knew a sports bar would be so hard to come by in Frederick but we were struggling to find a chill spot to watch the Blackhawk's game on a Friday night. Granted we were out-of-towners but we had three Yelp addicts scrambling since we had a party of 12-15 that wanted to drink beer and sing Chelsea Dagger. The Lodge popped up and was so close to our hotel so we went for it and loved the beer list. Diverse selection of brews including some local choices which blew up our Untappd accounts. Beers are served in a mason jar - have to love that! I am surprised at the negative reviews for service because either we are royalty or they were just AWESOME to us. We showed up at about 9 and said we were going to have a big party. They lined up tables for us as quick as possible. They must have come out to change the channel for us on the TVs 5 times but each time with a smile on their face. Our waitress was around often and made sure we got our food order in before the kitchen closed. Overall they treated us great when we really needed it. Foodwise the all-star was the "bison chili nacho sweet potato waffle fries". The name alone should let you know how good they were. I also had a bowl of bison chili which is free if you check in on Yelp and order an entree or sandwich - had a nice kick and also gluten free. Alligator bites were tough but alligator generally is. Also the slider trio of bison, elk, and kangaroo all tasted similar but with so many dipping sauces you can mix and match. Food could be better but for the beers and service I thank you Lodge I polled the table and it came out at 3.5 so I am rounding up because I see potential in the place that opened less than half a year ago

OMG.....this was the worst experience I have ever had. The first problem was that the server never came to our table to greet us, so we asked to be moved. At the next table the server was slow but did greet us. This was suppose to be a special birthday dinner for 5. We placed our order and waited and waited and waited, finally two orders came out, again we waited ( while the first two dinners were getting cold), the 3rd dinner came out, the Mac and cheese was ice cold, we were then informed they ran out of the rib tips so we needed to place another order. Finally dinner 4 came out so 4 people are eating but one is still waiting. Yikes dinner five came out only to have the burger totally raw on the inside. The owner never came to our table to offer an apology instead sent the manager who appeared to be unconcerned with an annoying smile then offered an apology. We then went to Five Guys so the 5th person could finally have his dinner. My suggestion is that going out to dinner should be a pleasant experience so if that is what you are looking for PLEASE avoid The Lodge. If you are looking for over priced food, bad service, unconcerning owner and manager then this is the place to go.

Just finished a delicious meal at The Lodge. The Lodge salad with steak was fabulous and fresh. Our server Laura did an awesome job taking care of us. My husband was hungry for meatloaf and The Lodge meatloaf didn't disappoint and was quite good. We will definitely be back!

I'll be honest, I'm not sure whats up with the low ratings for this restaurant, because I thought it was amazing. They haven't yet had their official opening yet (January 16th apparently), so I'll chalk it up to working out the kinks -- by the time I visited, everything was great. This place is exactly what I've been looking for in Frederick -- gourmet, organic burgers in every combination under the sun. They have a huge selection of burger meat (including some unique options like ostrich, elk, and kangeroo, as well as vegetarian options like grilled portabella, black bean, and sweet potato & quinoa), toppings, sauces, cheeses, and buns. They have a few pre-selected burger combinations, as well as non-burger options like steaks, salads, and crab cakes. Everything is organic and the majority of the menu items are locally sourced. Burgers start at 8.95 and come with a side of fries or chips -- you can get some of the fancier meats, toppings, or sides like sweet potato fries for a small upcharge. I went with a Waygu beef burger cooked medium, with maple bacon, sauteed onions, romaine lettuce, and cheddar cheese on a rustic roll with a side of fries. IT WAS SO GOOD. I'm a burger fanatic and this burger kicks the butt of anything else I've had in Frederick. It was unbelievably juicy and flavorful and cooked just as requested, with no gristle whatsoever. So many burger places seem to have no clue what 'medium' means, but they got it just right. The sauteed onions were delicious and cooked just long enough to still have a little bite to them, which I loved. I hate when sauteed onions get cooked to the point of looking like soup. Everything was super fresh -- the fries in particular were a standout -- perfect boardwalk style, thick cut and crispy on the outside with the skin on, tender on the inside. I have a sneaking suspicion some of the complaints regarding 'tough' meat are a result of people requesting well-done burgers as if they were at Five Guys. Organic, grass fed beef tends to be a bit leaner -- don't ruin such a great cut of meat by asking the chef to cook it to the consistency of shoe leather. Same deal with bison -- bison is super lean and really shouldnt be cooked anywhere near well -- it can get super tough and can't stand up to long cooking times like beef. Medium is really the upper limit for bison. Maybe a note on the menu regarding how certain meats are best enjoyed might be worthwhile. They're using quality stuff here, so don't be afraid to order it a little less cooked. My sister got a black bean burger (they were out of the quinoa) with chipotle mayo and romaine (and maybe something else, I can't remember) in a whole wheat tortilla -- she really loved hers as well. They have a dessert menu too, including some healthy milkshakes as well as traditional versions I'm itching to try, but I was too stuffed this time around -- their portions are huge! I'll definitely be back to try the elk/kangeroo/ostrich slider sampler when I'm feeling a little more adventurous. This place is great and I hope it sticks around!

If you want interesting meats, this is the place! Wow! So cool! L-R: Bison, Elk & Kangaroo. I've had Bison before, the Elk - not to sound typical, but very "gamy" and strong. The Kangaroo is very interesting. The texture is different, almost chucky feeling, but flavorful

I wanted to like this place, I've heard good things, but was very disappointed. First we noticed that were very understaffed. It was a Monday night and they weren't expecting the crowd, my boyfriend and I both work in the industry so we knew these nights happen so we didn't want to hold it against them. It took a little bit for our server to arrived, but again, we were understanding. But then the issues, we asked what beer they had on tap and she gave us her hand written note of beers and tells us to look over it and she'll be back. I know my beer, so I knew most of them, but what if I didn't know Lot 3 was an IPA, or Sweet Baby Jesus was a chocolate porter? When our server dropped our beers she then gave us a list (again for us to look over) of all the items they were out of (about a dozen). We ordered the duck spheres (our server called then duck balls), and they were very good. We both ordered burgers medium rare and they came out medium well to well. She asked how everything was so I told her our burgers were overcooked. She asked if we wanted then redone, but we had already eaten more than half so we declined. She came by later to offer us a free side. Really? We just had an appetizer and burgers and fries, you think we want a free side? A dessert would have made more sense although we probably would have decline that too. Taking at last one burger off the cheek would have made sense (again, we're both in the industry and agreed that's what we would have done minimally), but no. We might try it again hoping they were just having an awful night, but who knows.

The food was good. My husband's food came out way ahead of mine and the food runner just walked around asking people if this was their food. We sat at the bar and the chairs are way too low for the bar, it was weird. Even though there were two bartenders and a nearly empty bar we had to ask them for menus and to order. I asked for a drink menu and the bartender said she thought she had one in her purse.

Not very impressed with this place. They have a good selection of "exotic meats" - I got the regular beef burger and didn't think it was that great. In terms of the atmosphere, they were going for a lodge theme but didn't quite get there as the place wasn't warm and cozy and the bar with the big screen TV's took away from the lodge feeling. I think I'd come back to give it another shot and try something other than a burger.

We popped in there one night for a date night out without any kids and were so pleasantly surprised. The decor threw me off, there's nothing wrong with it, it just didn't fit with the food to me. We sat down looked at the unique menu and the waitress walked us through the local nature of the food as well as any questions. She was very good at recommending things for us which is always a touch and go thing depending on the person. We ordered the fried zucchini sticks, a custom burger with sweet potato fries, and a Ruben with onion rings. Everything, down to the sauces that came with the food was awesome. I kept raving with each new taste of food. We will definitely be going back. A. Lot. The prices were great too.

My friends know of my interest in giving the independent restaurant owner/operator every chance to be successful. I had this in mind when I visited The Lodge. After spending an hour or so in the place (don't worry, my order came quickly...I just hung around to stay out of the cold) it was perfectly clear the owner of this restaurant was the perfect example of someone who has taken lots of chances, works hard and deserves to be successful. I think you'll agree there are fewer and fewer places where the owner takes time to follow up on orders he may have cooked to check on the guests in his restaurant. It happens here. After taking time to understand the fairly extensive menu (you have to pay attention here...the ingredients aren't those found at your nearby Appleby's) I went with the Wild Boar Cuban sandwich with a side of onion rings. (Perhaps I had been subliminally influenced by the proposed new romance between the U.S. and Fidel's cigar empire?). The generously-sized sandwich arrived hot and timely. It was my first try at Wild Boar and I found it very interesting when paired with the chipotle mayo, pickle and perfectly prepared roll. Again, it was a large sandwich and I ended up asking for a to-go container as I'm sure it's going to taste great later this evening. While walking off the meal two things came to mind: 1.) I'd recommend that you give the menu and it's "different" flavors a couple of chances. Maybe try the place with friends...order a range of items and share. I'm pretty certain you'll find more than one thing worth returning for. 2.) Give The Lodge a try for a business lunch and skip the never-ending salad at the Olive Garden. Neither one of you are very interesting and you'd both probably prefer to be with someone else so let the setting, menu and flavors carry the conversation. On my next visit I'm trying the elk while my buddy is going for the Game Meatloaf and a Reese's milk shake. Give The Lodge a try with some friends and say hello to the owner Eric. You'll enjoy the conversation and feel his passion for what he's doing.

Great meal and service. We went for lunch on a Saturday. Wanted to try something new and the farm to fork really appealed to us. Spinach artichoke dip was delicious. We split a California burger. Also delicious. Ordered medium rare and parts were very rare, but we're ok with that. Service was prompt and friendly and the owner came by several times to check on us and talk about local beef and other fun stuff. Overall a very good experience. We will be back.

I told my husband about this place from the reviews, so we bypassed our regular movie night restaurant to give it a try. My meal, bison burger with bacon and avocado with cole slaw, was moist and yummy. My husband wasn't so happy with his bore pastrami sandwich, was sliced a little thick, was tough and very salty. His mashed potatoes were outstanding. The service was absolutely perfect, fast too, as our meal arrived surprisingly quick. We will go back again and I'm sure hubby will order a burger next time.

Okay, it hurts me to write this because I love to support local business. The hostess and waiter were very attentive and gave great service. I ordered an old fashioned. But this wasn't an old fashioned. Classically, old fashioneds are whiskey, sugar, water/ice, bitters, and citrus. This one had blueberries and cherries and triple sec. Making the real deal would taste better. Ordered the three game sliders to start. Bison, elk, and kangaroo. Bison was good, but over cooked. Elk was noticeably gamey, but had a good flavor and texture. The taste of the kangaroo burger, that I only took one bite of, is still in my mouth even after frozen yogurt, a shot of rum, teeth brushing, and setting my mouth on fire after filling it with kerosene. Ok, it wasn't that bad. But the strong gamey flavor coupled with the dry, mealy texture of the meat was only worth one bite. I am no shrinking violet when it comes to food. I have eaten everything from axis deer to quail and haven't shied away from any of it. There wasn't a single grain of salt on my fries. My hot dog was fine, but didn't need the bison chili. Although the chili was fine. My wife's wagyu burger was over cooked, and fine and unremarkable.

Yay! A new restaurant at Westview! The second I saw the menu I knew I had to be adventurous and try the kangaroo. I love that there are many options to create your own burger from kangaroo to elk and your "normal meats". The food did not disappoint, nor did the service. The decor matched the name well, minus the TV at every booth. What's with that? Dinner should be for sharing a meal together, not sharing a meal and watching boxing. I can do that at home on my couch.

AWESOME, First time we got the Shrimp Po; Boy, It was awesome just needed a little heat and orange Zest with the Sauce and the Bison Burger with Fries and Duck Balls. Both of them Wonderful Second time: Fish and chips, get this if you are Hungry, Bison Burger again and Alligator Bites. Husbands loves the Burger. BOTTOM LINE: The food is Wonderful. John is a GREAT server. The blonde needs to work on her skills as she is not attentive and had to had several other servers for their help as she talked in a corner. The OWNER is one of the BEST owners I have ever met. He is passionate about his place and takes great pride. SHOULD YOU GO: HECK YES, try it and enjoy the lovely atmosphere.

Tried this place on the weekend for lunch after a colleague recommend trying it out. I was expecting a standalone restaurant, but its tucked away in the Westview shopping center, just a couple doors down from firehouse subs. Its decorated with a lodge theme throughout, but had TVs at every table, which will be a nice feature when football season starts back up. I had the bison burger and have to say I really enjoyed my meal. The burger was cooked exactly as I wanted and was so flavorful and juicy. My order came with regular fries, but I might try the sweet potato fries next time. I would also recommend their signature sauce, which is a like a spicy BBQ sauce - very good! There are a lot of interesting choices on the menu, from beef, lamb, bison, Kangaroo, Waygu and wild boar. When we were there, our waitress told us they were trying out alligator bites as a new appetizer. It wasn't on the menu, but if enough people like it, I could see it becoming a regular addition. We didn't try it but its something we may try the next time we are in. Definitely recommend this place. The food was great and the service was on point.

I am going to have to respectfully disagree with some of the other yelpers on this place. The service was superb. It was a busy Sunday afternoon for them and we sat at the high top tables in the bar area. The bartender was not only efficient but worked hard to please not only us at the tables but everyone at the bar. The only other person that was helping him was, what seemed to be, the manager. The manager must have come over at least three times to check on how everything was going. The atmosphere in this place really holds true to the name. Even though it's in a strip mall you wouldn't know by walking into this place. Looks like a place that should be right off the slopes. My one con would be that we did attempt to sit at the bar and it might be fine for a drink but to have a meal the seats are too low for the bar. As for the food we started out with the bison chili which was FREE with a yelp check in. This is an $8 value which even caught me off guard because usually most places just offer a free round at happy hour. The chili was cooked perfectly with a little bit of heat but the cornbread that it was served with kept that to a minimum. We also had wings with their bbq grizzly sauce. It also has a little heat but nothing that is going to have you running for a glass of water. The wings themselves were nice and crispy and plenty of meat on the bone. I really like the farm to table concept and like trying different kinds of meats other then beef. The elk was phenomenal. Just be careful when ordering any of these lean meats especially bison, kangaroo and elk because they dry out quickly so I wouldn't get anything over medium rare. As for the drinks plenty of local craft and national craft brews to pick from. Just as I told the bartender when we left, I'll definitely be making this place one of my regular stops.

Kobe beef burger? - I think a vegetarian burger would have tasted better. Service was OK. Location is reminiscent of WOW Wingery which used to be in the same building. I give this one star because the person playing music next to the bar could carry a tune. Tip: don't advertise exotic/high prices meats that taste horrible.

Stopped by after catching a movie and like other reviewers I agree that the service is probably the weakest point of the visit. Our server was very helpful, friendly and informative but seemed new and very green in his delivery. I ordered The Bonfire with Elk!! Our server advised that it should be cooked the rarer the better. I am usually in the bloody rare mooing camp, but because I did not know what to expect, I went with medium rare. I am not a fan of burgers with cheese, but again since this was the first time, I let the restaurant make the burger as written on the menu. With Colby jack, lettuce, tomato, chipotle mayo and habanero ketchup. I ordered it with the whole wheat bun and fries. My friend ordered a build your own bison burger with provolone, tomato in a lettuce bun with a side salad. The elk was cooked exactly medium rare, but I did not see either the chipotle mayo or habanero ketchup. Which is sad because I really did want to experience the burger as it was intended. The service was slow so I did not ask for the missing condiments. But - I would totally order the elk burger again. I liked that it was obviously hand formed, and was really juicy. I tasted the bison burger which was ordered well done. It seemed more intensely meaty than beef and would not be my first choice. The lettuce bun was a disappointment as the elk burger was served with the same amount of lettuce. The fries were good though, cooked in peanut oil. Our server talked us into the brownie sundae. He descripted it as chocolate chip - we thought more like a blondie, but it was a brownie with chocolate chips. It was served in an individual cast iron skillet, warm. We asked for the ice cream on the side and that helped the brownie be chewy and not soupy from the melted ice cream. $31 plus tip for the two burgers plus dessert, we only ordered some of Frederick's finest H2O. If someone said they wanted to grab a burger, this would be my first choice now. Obviously hand formed burgers and the fries were good. Lots of options besides burgers too. But, don't be in a rush. It is located between Tutti Frutti and the Wild Bird Store.

I wanted to like it but... My wife ordered fish and chips, I ordered a turkey burger - they were out of both of them. Not a great start. We ordered crab dip while we looked for another choice. It came out cold. Sent back for a reheat it was hot then but bland. I ended up ordering a bison burger, my wife a hamburger. They were ok, cooked as ordered - just nothing special. For the crab dip, 2 burgers, 2 beers, 2 glasses of wine it was about $70. Not outrageous but not cheap. Service was pleasant if a bit slow and inattentive. No real reason I can see to go back.

Had their wings this week and really like them! I hope they add more flavor to them but the quality is good and they aren't dripping with oil. They have some great specials and I like the farm to fork emphasis. Definitely on the top of my list for places to stop in for a drink/meal.

Had such a great experience at The Lodge! We went for my dad's surprise birthday party. The staff was incredibly accommodating and friendly, as well as patient, since we were such a large group. The menu was great with so many different things to try. The farm to fork style was a refreshing change, and everyone was excited to get their food. We tried meats such as kangaroo, elk, bison, and wild boar. The owner was there as well and was very personable and helpful with our party. I have Celiac, and noticing that they did not have a gluten free menu, I asked him if they had any gluten free options. He was very knowledgeable about Celiac and how to make the dishes Gluten free. Almost all of the meats were gluten free as long as I told the server to cook it on a separate grill. They even had a gluten free bun! So exciting. Everyone had a great time and we can't wait for a second trip to try even more dishes off the menu.

I love this place. My favorite is the bison Chili with chips. It's on the starters menu but I have it as my entrée. It's great for the family and everything tastes sublime. You know it's good when even on a weeknight, there is a wait for the family. I don't drink but they do have a bar and it is separated from the main dining room by a fire place. The ambiance here is wonderful.

Very unique burgers that were very tasty. They also have a very good selection of micro beers. Our waitress Laura was a great server and I was very pleased when she came and tracked me down after leaving my phone (which has my life in it) on the table. We'll be back soon to try other things on the menu.

Wonderful atmosphere. Love the selection of meats for my husband, yet a large selection of vegetarian dishes for me. We had great friendly service and the food was excellent. My only suggestion would be to have a beer list on the table so the waitress did not have to had us her copy the list to see which beers we wanted to try. I took a chance, since it was our first visit, and took another couple with us. We all had great meals and a wonderful time.

Pros: Good burgers & fries, decent beer selection, reasonable prices. Cons: TVs at every table are somewhat of a turnoff, interior seating seems too close together, seems overly bright inside. Important: AVOID THE CRAB DIP. It's a grey, slimy, concoction that has no connection to actual crab. Also, the "fresh" bread served with the dip was obviously refrigerated (cold in the middle). This is a cardinal sin in Maryland. If a manager reads this, please please fix the crab dip.

Over an hour later, just now able to pay our tab. Longest wait for a burger ever...it was not busy either. Floor could be run better, not sure why the bartender has to leave his post for extended periods. Bar stools make you feel like you are sitting in high chair as a toddler. Burger was decent, roll was pretty poor. Place is ok I guess for people with kids who do not get a chance to get out and eat much. Rather go to five guys in a pinch.

Terribly understaffed. Long wait to be greeted and seated, long wait to have our order taken, 40 minutes for our food to be served which was cold, limp and greasy. Impossible wait for our check and another 20 minutes for our card to be run and returned. Because of the problems mentioned above and many others not mentioned, we assumed the restaurant had been open just a few weeks, thusly explaining the disaster of this evening. No, they opened five months ago. If you decided to go and have children, by all means, pack a meal for them and something to entertain them because it will be far too long of a wait for a little one. Also, adults should bring a novel like War and Peace or a chess board to help them pass the time.

I agree with some previous comments about host/hostess greeting guests in a timely and courteous manner. Meals (bacon burger, cobb salad, and exotic meat burger and hot dogs) were excellent. However, the waitresses serving my groups for both visits left a lot to be desired: slow service and had to ask another server for drink refills after being ignored. Bottom line is that host/hostess and waiters/waitresses can make or break a young restaurant...... food is great....but the basics need a lot of work. Will give it one more try in a month or so....

The food and atmosphere are okay. What I like least about this restaurant is that I don't feel welcome. My husband and I (we're gay) have given this restaurant a few tries, sometimes just the two of us and once with our three children. However, each time we've been to this restaurant the wait staff seems afraid of us. Also, while I have witnessed the owner/manager stop and greet tables (even tables that surround us) he has never greeted us. I doubt that we'll be returning.

Erik the owner is a great guy to interact with as I appreciate him visiting some of his customer including me to see how we were doing. I do see Erik tries hard to make sure all is well. The server we had was really nice as we tipped her 20%. The only exception was that the host/hostess that night was not friendly. Their host, a younger one kept eye-hawking down on us to see what we were doing or watching TV while we were eating and conversing. That really creeped us out! Like other's review. The front end services (host/hostess) was almost non-existent as we waited over 5 minutes before we were served. I saw other employees see us as they did not bother to greet us to say, "Be one moment while I get someone for you". The best part was our server and Erik greet us when we were seated. Unfortunately, I do not find their exotic burgers tasty at all as they were too cold, too dry, and not fresh. I was disappointed in their elk and bison burgers. They tasted more like charred hamburger like some other places. I have had better at other places. But I was hoping that "The Lodge" would trump that other places since they are a local. Their toppings were great! Probably the best compared to others. Their pulled wild boar that night was did not have a good odor to it. It may have been old or not cooked up to standards. Their buffalo chicken dip was rather bland and greasy. It seemed that same recipe was used for their crab dip too. Except chicken was used. The dip was a great concept but it needs a change! Or I could easy bring in a tub of cream cheese then there is my dip. Erik, you have a lot of great potential for your organic restaurant. All we ask is for you to firm up quality assurances of your kitchen/cooking area related. Your servers been great to date just work on your hostess/host's etiquette toward customers since they represent your establishment from a front end perspective. Also, be sure to have host/hostess there to serve and seat customers within restaurant's standard time to meet, greet and seat.

So i decided to give this place another try despite experiencing what was read in some of the reviews which were spot on (to a degree) about the service. My first visit was last Friday right before the evening rush. I will say what most interpreted as "slow service", in my opinion is just a lack of paying attention. I'll tell you exactly what i mean. On my first occasion i was one of just a hand full of people in the restaurant at the time yet despite this ratio in favor of the restaurant waitstaff still managed to botch my order. Now in there defense my order came down to a matter of preference (could taste alcohol in adult shake) and once brought to their attention they were more than willing to satisfy my request. This is just the growing pains that new establishments go through in the beginning. There were other issues (beer cooler down) going on that evening some out of the staff/mgnts control, but the lack of attention to getting the things within your control right is major and probably get worst before it gets better. In the meantime I'll keep coming back for the incredible burgers (when done right, had to send one back for lunch following week) and warm beer, lol

Second try at The Lodge Saturday nite around 8pm, only about 5 tables had customers and the service was atrocious. The bison burgers were cooked to death, despite ordering medium rare and the fries were very greasy and bland. The buffalo dip was way too overpowering and the onion rings were also bland and greasy. Unfortunate, because I was really looking forward to this restaurant.

The Lodge was GREAT. I got the Wagyu burger with bbq sauce, cheddar, and onion rings topped on it. By far the best burger I've ever had in my life. The people saying that Five Guys or anywhere else compares are nuts. Is paying $12 a bit too high for a burger and fries? Yes, if it were your standard burger and fries. You get what you pay for, and The Lodge delivered on that. The service was solid. I can understand some of these reviews because it's clear that the servers are a bit inexperienced, but they are extremely nice and helpful. In another 2-3 months they'll get that quickness that they need. Our waiter recommended the Wagyu ordered medium-rare or medium. It was perfect.

It was advertised as a farm to fork restaurant. My family and I was sorely disappointed to find it was mostly just burgers of different meats. The veggies (I ordered grilled) came out of a frozen bag and were steamed and not farm fresh or local. They were out of chicken pot pie and most of the salad offerings again were not of local organic produce (which again was what was advertised when we walked I the door) It was called a lodge, yet it felt more like a sports bar with all the TV's on every wall and in every booth. For the money we paid the 5 guys burger place just up the street would have been better and more economical.

We were invited to their soft opening and had horrible service and the food was poor at best. Love the concept of the restaurant, so we tried it again after several months of them being open with my parents in town. Again, the service was poor and the food this time was HORRIBLE. 3 out of 5 people had to send it back for being undercooked and cold at service, or just not what was ordered. One person in the party had to send their food back THREE times, before finally giving up and just going without (since the rest of the party at the table was well beyond finished eating at this point). Waited another several months and gave them one last chance, as we figured they would have worked out all the kinks after over a year in business. NOPE. Food was horrible yet again and had to be sent back. Service was SLOW and inattentive. Needless to say- three strikes, you're out. Permanently off our list of possible dining establishments.

The place was very cold tonight, that did help our experience. I wanted chicken pot pie and they were out of that. We basically got our appetizer and main dish at the same time. The burger was very small and tough. The buns were cold and the slaw was oily. They have a long way to go. Best of luck to them.

Outstanding food tonight! Even though they were out of Bison (Saturday night), we were incredibly happy about the Waygu! I should have ordered it medium rare, but that was my fault. The service was outstanding, & the owner was there asking about our meal. The best part of the meal was their sweet potato fries- wonderful!!!!! My girls, who are extremely picky, ate all their chicken. I will definitely be visiting there again!

Headed to The Lodge for Friday night dinner out with the family. My boys weren't all that interested in being adventurous so I was glad they had kids options like grilled cheese and quesadillas. I built my own burger and I was so excited to see organic beef and local bread. It was a delicious burger that I paired with onion rings. I thought the onion rings were a little under seasoned but good. My husband ordered a bison burger with sweet potato fries and he was very pleased. Casual atmosphere, family friendly, excellent dinner choice!

We decided to try out the new burger place, The Lodge. I believe that any burger place in our area must be compared to Melt in Leesburg, which in my opinion is the best around...... This place is the old WOW Wing Factory in Westview near the theaters... The place has a better look and feel than WOW. The service by the staff is much improved, so kudos there. This is a sold as an upscale burger joint, like Melt is. And I guess you can call it such. You can get bison, 100% organic beef, kangaroo, boar, elk, etc. They have a few specialty burgers or you can build your own. I had the Mediterranean, which is lamb and meant to be Greek style with lamb and tzatziki. The burger was cooked well, but IMHO skimpy on the tzatziki. Toppings were fresh but the bun was so-so. Definitely not a home baked bun like Melt has. My daughter had a make your own with organic beef, bacon, and a fried egg. The egg was overcooked and the yolk was harder than it should have been. But she enjoyed it otherwise. My wife had the organic beef with avocado, seemed to like the bun more than I did but thought the avocado was sliced too thick. The onion rings were top notch, the fries were average 'skin on' fries, and the kettle chips were very good and very crispy with a lot of old bay seasoning. With drinks, expect to pay about $12 per person (no appetizer). All in all, I give the place a 7 out of 10. Could do some things better and definitely needs more of a specialty menu. Better than others in Frederick, but I would still go to Melt before hitting here again.

Went for lunch on a Monday with my 8 month old son and husband. Bison burger was very tasty and so was the Hummus. The kids menu was mostly fried or carb loaded. Service was a little shotty but I am also a veteran server and know what good service entails. The highchair for my son was filthy and the bench we sat in wasn't very clean. One of the server's was wearing a white shirt and you could basically see through it and also wore workout/yoga pants. Didn't think that was very appropriate. Overall, food yummy and service mediocre. We will give it another shot soon.

I have been to this place a few time now. I really like all the burgers I have tasted including the bison, kangaroo, and wagyu beef burger. I also tried the Bison chilli and it just may be the best chilli I have ever eaten. The service was friendly and fast. The only complaint I have is every time I go they are out of something - elk, kangaroo, etc. If it was not for this, I would have given them 5 stars!!!

If you aren't ready to open, don't open. We were there opening weekend i think, and they didn't have the appetizer we tried to order (not out of it, just hadn't figured out how to make it yet although it was on the menu as a signature dish). Then we learned that the staff was so new they weren't used to cooking the lean game meats yet so everything was coming out overcooked. Great. We tried to avoid this by ordering a regular beef burger and a turkey burger. Beef was like a brick, and turkey burger was under and smelled raw, plus, didn't come with half the toppings it was supposed to, and they didn't tell us ahead of time they were out. At that point, we had been there so long and just wanted to get out of there. Too bad, because we eat out in the area approx 3 times a week...will NOT be back. Next time, take the extra month to get your menu figured out. In the meantime, we'll be at firestones or even fosters for their burgers.

They were out of the elk and kangaroo meat we ordered. We ordered wings, they were out of wings. They were out of the first beer we ordered. The sandwich we ordered was luke warm. We ordered 2 drinks during happy hour, only 1 drink was brought to our table, we reminded the waitress about the 2nd drink. By that time it was after happy hour so we were charged full price. We didn't realize this until after we paid. Service was slow, however there was a big kid's party going on. Has potential, will try again.

Liked the food and the server was friendly. We had the meatloaf and a burger and both were very good. A little limited on the menu selection but will definitely go back to try something else. Good happy hour options and a live band on Friday night.

My fiancé and I had our first dining experience here tonight. We can't wait to come back! The decor is fantastic. It just makes you want to sit and stay longer. The service was amazing. Beer prices are awesome. As well as their food prices. We ordered the trio of game sliders to start, our waitress was very helpful in our choice. All three of the sliders were delicious. Our entrees were excellent. The side salad was awesome with the cilantro lime ranch. Great spot to go for a casual night out!

A day out for me and my 84 year old Mother, I found this restaurant on Yelp. The menu looked interesting and so we decided to give it a try for lunch. The decor is intended to be reminiscent of a hunting lodge and is done pretty well - offering a semi-rustic ambiance. The booths are fairly comfortable and each is outfitted with it's own tv. I would imagine that at other times, the restaurant would be fairly "lively" as it sports a bar, but for this lunch the atmosphere was casual and the noise level was fine. We started out with the panko parmesean crusted zucchini sticks. The portion is generous (8 sticks) and comes with both ranch dressing and a remoulade which was to die for. The sticks themselves were substantial, had a nice crisp coating and were delicious. Main course for me was their signature "Grizzly Burger" which is a bison burger, cheddar cheese, bacon, and topped with wild boar brisket drizzled with BBQ sauce. I ordered the bison medium-well which can sometimes be tricky as bison tends to be a drier meat. The burger was perfectly cooked, tender, and moist. The bacon was not overcooked and was also substantial and flavorful. The BBQ sauce was reminiscent of a Kansas City-style sauce - sweet and tangy. There was a slight mis-step with the brisket temperature; however, the manager, Eric, immediately corrected the problem. It was clear that the staff and especially the manager cared about the food they were serving and in doing so, made my Mother and I feel like valued guests. The sweet potato fries were equally sizable and tasty. For an adventurous menu (that also offers standard fare for the less adventurous), generous portions, tasty and well-cooked food, relaxed atmosphere, caring staff, and superb manager, The Lodge will most likely become one of my favorite lunch haunts!

We went with friends last Saturday night. I had read the reviews, but our friends were really interested in trying it. There was no wait and I thought that was outstanding for a Sat. night in this town, but once we were seated things started to go down hill from there. When the waitress finally came to take our drink orders, she brought two members of our party two half glasses of beer and explained that they had run out and we would not be charged. They accepted and ordered an additional drink. We began placing our orders and slowly realized they were out of almost every item we attempted to order, no crab, no bison, no elk. If we wanted regulars burgers, we could have gone to Five Guys. The chicken was more bone than meat. The burgers that were ordered were drenched in grease. The paper on the trays were completely saturated and floating with grease. It took forever to get our waitresses attention to let her know that we had no utensils. She explained they had run out earlier and were washing them.... okay. When we received our bill, we then had to sit with her and review because of charges that didn't belong on our bill. She explained the computer system has a mind of it's own and had been charging customers all evening for things that weren't ordered... huh? I'm thinking we may avoid this restaurant in the future. Great concept, poor execution!!

First off this place has only been open a few weeks. It was not crowded since it is new and we were seated quickly. The servers were very good and attentive. The decor is suppose to look like a lodge. They have a number of specialty meats but everything is ground into a patty and served as a burger. There is a meatloaf on the menu. We started with the slider app. Elk, kangaroo, and bison. I would get them again. It would nice to be able to pick the three meats. We all split them so we could try each meat. Didn't get a huge taste difference but the meat texture was different. What would be a nice app is to be able to order a platter with a bite sized portion on each meat so you can try them. The build a burger option is kind of cool. You pick the meat, toppings, roll, and sauce but you can also just order what they already made. They were good but nothing to write home about. Meat could have been seasoned a bit more and a little more meat so it didn't feel like all roll. They were out of pot pie The only mistake for our visit was my wife ordered her burger sautéed onion and got mushrooms instead. Not a place I would run back too but if it was a choice between here and one of the chains, I would go again.

We will definitely come here again. Each booth has a television, great for entertaining kids so we could actually have a conversation. The staff was extremely friendly and the food was great! Crab dip had huge chunks of crabmeat and we all loved our burgers. The owner was engaging and explained his philosophy on good, local food for reasonable prices.

So I went here the other night when I found out it had opened from a friend. I was not expecting much as it was where WOW was, and I really hated that place... Anyhow, I was very pleasantly pleased!!! I sat at the bar, and it is a very nice bar, with a great atmosphere.. It is more of a sportsbar I am sure on the weekends, but during the week, I can imagine it is the same as any other place... Very nice tables, and very nice chairs... The bartender was fantastic, and let me know that they are not fully up and running as they are just opening and do not have their menu fully figured out. That was fine by me. They are figuring out what sells, and what people like and what not... Not to crowded, but did have a good full bar! Great TV to watch the game, with sound!! Even have sound in the restroom, so you dont have to miss all the action when you go... Food--- My buddy ordered the Sampler Sliders, and he liked them.. They did look pretty good... I ordered the Meatloaf with a side of sweat potato fries, and a side salad.. All of my food was fantastic... There was plenty of food... I ended up taking home 2 of the 3 pieces of meatloaf... Only thing that I would have changed is that my side salad come in a bowl instead of a plate... Easier to mix that way... That is a personal preference, and nothing to do with the restaurant... I would recommend this place to a friend or family member, and would go back again... I think that they should stay open later on Sunday if a football game is on... That is all... Good luck to this place, and I hope that this helped!!!

The bison chili appetizer was good although the corn bread had a rubbery texture that was a little odd. The wagyu burger was perfectly done (medium rare) and the fresh cut fries were very good. I was able to get my hometown baseball team on the tv in the booth. I'll definitely come back when I am in town. Overall, an excellent experience.

I am sorry to say that I liked this place the firat time that we went there, but each each time I've been back the qualoty has declined. I love that they have GF options, but frankly I worry that the lackluster wait staff (especially the flat affect guy) will make a mistake. The fries have the potential to be good, they're handcut, but they ate NOT crispy. As a matter of fact they are soggy and saturated in old smelly fryer grease. We've had the same male waiter a couple of times and both times he screwed up my order. I ordered a salad and they forgot the mushrooms, cucumbers, and dressing....how does that even happen? Shouldn't a waiter recognize a salad that is missing most of the ingredients? They have potential, but I'm not going back anytime soon.

Very unique menu. I suggest that everyone who has wished to try exotic meats go here at least once. I had the Bison Burger with Wild Boar meat. It was very good. They did not drown the meat in BBQ sauce, the meat tell the story and that is a good thing in my book. My wife had the kangaroo, which was fantastic, sweet, nutty and lean. We will be going back soon to try the other options. The only small draw back was the sluggish service, but it takes awhile to find your stride and if your in the company of good friends and great conversations then why should that matter?

The place seems to have "new restaurant" problems. We went as a group, many of the drink orders were wrong. I ordered the blue cheese burger and onion rings thinking I was ordering the organic hamburger. The menu is very confusing. Instead I got the bison burger and french fries. The bison burger was VERY good, but it wasn't what I ordered. As we were ready to leave they finally brought the onion rings. I had them place them in a to go container. Once they get over their growing pains this may be a very good place. They need to communicate exactly what the customer is ordering and actually bring them that order. They work hard to fix the order once they know its wrong, but they should get it right the first time. I do like the exotic meat they offer like elk, kangaroo, and kagyu. It would be great if they offered more than burgers such as steaks.

I liked the concept of this restaurant, but found it to be poorly executed. Our waiter was lack luster and left something to be desired. On top of that, it was other servers that checked in on us, brought and removed our dishes, etc. I went early on a Saturday, and some of the menu items were not available. When the incorrect burger was brought out to me, it was another server that took it back to have "corrected". It was clear that they took it back and scrapped off the jalapeños and brought out the same burger again with avocado on top. As a plus, the crab dip was tasty. My drink, the old fashioned, was horrible. All in all, this place was ok. Not horrific, but nothing exciting. My husband found the elk burger to be dry. Shame, we really wanted to like this place!

I had the steak salad and my husband had the wagyu hotdogs with bison chili. Would recommend both. I've had better onion rings, but enjoyed the dipping sauce. TVs in the booth is a great idea for those with kids. Ours were with grandma so we enjoyed a couple cold ones- recommend the Agave Cervesa. We stumbled onto this place on the way back from a race; glad we did.

Had a great meal there. I had the lamb burger in the Mediterranean fix and it was delish. My husband also had lamb. Our son had the kangaroo and he really like it a lot. Rather gamey but flavorful. The service was outstanding the server was more than helpful. We will definitely return.

Just tried The Lodge for the first time and we thought it was great. Nice to have a local place that serves locally grown/raised food, and also has more exotic choices like Kangaroo. Will definitely come here again!

The Lodge restaurant just opened in mid November. Love that the food is entirely organic. Came with family and the restaurant was very pleasant to dine in. I ordered one of the Lodge signature burgers, " Big Bleu Bacon Bison Burger" with sweet potatoes fries. I had never eaten bison meat and must say it was yummy. The sweet potato fries is the best I've ever eaten. Had a taste of the kangaroo burger and was yummy too!

Went here for the first time a few days ago, and I have no complaints. The food, service, price, and uniqueness were all great. We got the crab cake sandwich and the grizzly burger with onion rings and crab dip. The servings were large, the food tasted very fresh, everything came out hot and pretty quickly. The waiter was very attentive and the owner/manager? Came by several times and was very friendly and was very interested in making sure we were satisfied with everything. It's a unique place which is a big plus. The booths have their own tvs which you can control. This is nice for sports fans especially. Also the menu has some unique options such as boar, elk, and kangaroo. I would definitely go back!

The main course was good, my girlfriend had the buffalo chicken wrap and I had wings. The alligator bites we had in the beginning were overcooked and hard to eat. The bartender and the waitress both sprayed something on both me and my girlfriend while sitting at the bar from stuff they were making so not to happy about that. Overall it was ok, not our first choice to go. We only went cause we had a coupon but the service was not good at all.

The ambiance in the restaurant is nice. It's a sports bar with TVs EVERYWHERE. The chairs are extremely comfortable and the decor is current and inviting. As for the menu, there were many options that looked great. There is a large selection of meats to make a custom burger which is interesting. Plus there's kangaroo meat, don't think you can get that just anywhere. The food wasn't well seasoned at all however. You could tell the ingredients were of good quality, but really lacking in flavor. Fries were cold and service wasn't that great either. I would give these guys another chance because their menu is inviting, but it needs to get better.

I would describe the food as OK. Not a stand out, but a decent meal. Service was a strange experience. No menus when we arrived, they never brought us one until our server arrived. Ordered an appetizer, no plates. Said they would bring us some but never did. Said they would bring vinegar for my fries, never did. Then when they took my sweet tea to refill, they came back with water. Not a terrible experience but no need to go back. Too many other choices in Frederick.

Eldest child mentioned The Lodge was open with a tease of the menu, so we stopped by last Sunday afternoon. Didn't think the spot would be a strip mall front, but the propietors did a great job with the available space. Waited a couple of minutes before being seated (one wait staff was at the podium, but didn't acknowledge us... no harm, no foul. Everyone gets a second chance.), the owner did get us seated shortly thereafter, he was very personable and engaging. Dana waited on us this day, she was exceptionally good - prompt and attentive service, very friendly and considerate. Started with the (Yelp check-in gratis) Bison Chili (Thanks, Yelp!). Three of us were able to enjoy the bowl with some left over, tasty with the most subtle heat. Beautiful wife got the Cali Burger w/sweet potato fries, eldest got the Bison Burger w/chips, and I got the Lamb Burger w/slaw. We were all satisfied with the preparation and flavors of our meals. About the only SMALL critique I might have with any portion of our plates was that the tzatzik sauce was a bit thin (again, need to try another time to verify). If this is our biggest issue, then all is good. We will definitely be back as the menu is varied and intriguing enough to explore some more. The staff we dealt with were welcoming and seem to be building a notable eating establishment in a competitive area.

I was expecting this place to be a regular burger joint, but I was wrong. The different meats selection will not disappoint you. I wanted to try the bison burger, but they were out. So I got courageous and order the kangaroo burger. All I can say is WoW!!! That burger was on point.

Cold and house made beers served in frosted Mason Jars, fun variety of game meats for burgers, interesting sauce selection. Outdoorsy Northwest Pacific decor with cozy fireplace is welcoming and a nice change up from many of the other chain Promenade restaurants. Friendly staff and an owner who checks on customers and takes pride in his business. Try the truffle Parmesan fries and Bison, Elk, and Kangaroo sliders. For extra fun get the S'mores dessert and roast your marshmallows right at the table!

I really like this place. They have a great beer selection and the burgers and chicken are great. After several visits I prefer the bison burger, broccoli and carrots, the chicken and chili. The Pale Ale is a great beer. Friendly service, live entertainment on Fridays, color TVs, good nachos......great place

Over an hour later, just now able to pay our tab. Longest wait for a burger ever...it was not busy either. Floor could be run better, not sure why the bartender has to leave his post for extended periods. Bar stools make you feel like you are sitting in high chair as a toddler. Burger was decent, roll was pretty poor. Place is ok I guess for people with kids who do not get a chance to get out and eat much. Rather go to five guys in a pinch.

In town from Southern California and finding this place was a great surprise!! Fantastic farm to fork food! Great menu with a large list of meat options!! Bison, elk, wagyu, kangaroo just to list a few! And the best part is everything is ORGANIC!!! For a great healthy and delicious meal you must come here!!

Experience is great! Love the variety, good food and beer, local source. Great meat selections too. Staff was friendly and very responsive. We have been twice now and will definitely go again!

We went to visit The Lodge at 2:30 on a Monday afternoon. We were the only patrons. Service was horrible and the silverware was dirty. The food, however was good and fairly priced.

  • Sean S.
