Our room, the Victorian, was nice, beautiful antiques. It is a very short walk to Volt and all restaurants and shops in Frederick. The breakfast was delicious and the conversation with Damian was nice. We will be back!

Though we did not end up staying here courtesy the lady who runs this place, she has to be the most rude and condescending person i've ever come across in my life. My husband and I called up to make reservations and she booked us in for the weekend of April 12th, 2014. That said, she was extremely rude through the entire conversation and left us wondering if did we even make the right decision to stay here. A day before our arrival there, my husband called them to confirm our reservation and she informed him that she had actually booked us for the following weekend. Though my husband constantly mentioned that she confirmed the date with him a numerous time over the phone in the last conversation, she refused to acknowledge her mistake and never apologized for the inconvenience that caused us. Once again, through the entire conversation, she was extremely rude, condescending and made us feel like we were being racially discriminated due to us being indians and having an indian accent. Luckily for us, we managed to snag a room at the Hilton Garden Inn at the last minute. However, I would not recommend anyone staying here. If you still do, be prepared to be yelled at, spoken down in a condescending manner and if you aren't white, being racially discriminated.

Perhaps the most charming and relaxing b & b that I have ever been too! A beautifully finished home just steps off of Market street, and more importantly, steps from Volt! Frederick, MD is a charming, eclectic mix of hip, history and haute. The Hill House is quite simply everything a b & b should be and nothing it should not. It is a quiet respite in an historical neighborhood offering an expansive veranda, charming, intimate decor, a well landscaped garden, immaculate rooms each with en suite, sparkling facilities and a delicious breakfast! The Hill House is not pretentious, overdone or cold. Make a weekend of it, come to Frederick, walk the neighborhood, dine at Volt and stay here, when it's all over, drive the 40 minutes back to DC to what feels like a world away, because it is!

Great location! Received a brusque and unfriendly greeting -- don't think the management was intentionally rude, but just a personality thing. Room was pleasant, bath was outmoded but bright. Towels were nice and fluffy, but an extremely strong-smelling detergent or fabric softener was used on them, leaving them VERY scented. Breakfast is served at the announced time, even if you're not at the table, as a couple of other guests discovered when arriving late. Fine place to stay if you don't expect great hospitality or service.

Quick summary in two words: Horrible experience. I arrived in a sleet storm around 6ish and found the place locked up. Which was fine, so I called them on my cell phone and the owner, Damian, came charging out and chewed me out but good for not calling her and telling her when I was going to arrive, the exact time. I barely made it alive driving in a massive storm from the airport, and could barely stand up on the ice that was on the front steps, but she let me in chewing me out the whole time. Also mad that I didn't just ring the doorbell...which frankly I never saw. Anyway, she took me upstairs to the Indian Room--two narrow twin beds, or cots really, with every surface in the room and on the walls crammed with tchotches and even a few devil masks! and nowhere to put any of my stuff. No chairs either--okay, one sort of dining room chair. And I was supposed to be there for 12 days. I was working and where I was working made my reservations for me thinking this would be a nice experience for me and their hearts WERE in the right place. Anyway Damian told me that coffee and breakfast would be served at 8:30. I said I need coffee earlier so where was the local Starbucks I could trundle off whenever? Boy, that set her off! So she said she would get my coffee ready by 7 (huff, huff, irritation, huff) and that I should be downstairs by 7 for it. By then I was freaking out..but trying to calm myself down. After all---12 days I was going to be here. So, I go out to dinner with a friend and to my horror discover that I have forgotten my key!!! And will have to face crankly old Damian again. I decide to bring my friend in with me for backup since I have to ring the bell (it's after 9..) and disturb Damian from whatever she is up to. True to form, she comes out all put out and says she was getting ready to go to bed and good for me that she wasn't already in bed. That I agree with. Just the thought... So i get in my room, the Indian Room. I put a few things on the other bed since every surface is covered with cutesy bed and breakfast circa 1990 stuff (I loathe everything about this place by now, but am trying to keep my shit together...) but then I need to plug in my cell phone to charge it, I really do, and guess what? There isn't a plug...like...anywhere. And I am loaded down with not only a cell phone, but an ipad, a computer, etc. I am supposedly there to work, remember? Ah, well, time for sleep, mellow out I say to myself. But the tiny bed, the fact that I am due to have breakfast with Damian at 7 in the morning, the devil masks on the walls, the tsotchekes (sp again?) all over---oh did I tell you that Damian said that when there were other guests there in a day or two that she could not get my coffee ready at 7? That I would have to fit in with the regular schedule of coffee at 8:30? YES, she said that. I couldn't sleep, and in the middle of the night figured out that she put me in the twin bed room in case some real customers arrive (a couple! real guests, not a single woman like me) since of course she would need to save the larger bed rooms for them, (I was the only guest) oh well, anyway I miserably tossed and turned on my cot through the night and then had a miserable breakfast with Damian after first calling my employers as soon as there was any light in the sky who swooped in to spring me out of there, and happily, so happily, I am now staying at the Hampton Inn and I am about the happiest person in the world. I absolutely adore the Hampton Inn. They get 10 stars. They get 100 stars. I think Hill House would be okay if you were there a max of 2 nights with your husband or daughter etc and having dinner at this Volt place. I will have to check out Volt which everyone is talking about.

We booked a room at this place because we were going to dinner at Volt. The B&B is so gross and dirty. There was no one to help with our luggage and we had to walk up 3 flights of stairs. The carpet and bedding is so old and tacky. We each only got one pillow to sleep on. Also, the weirdest thing ever is that there is an old stained wedding dress in the closet in our bedroom. There are framed pictures in the bedroom and bathroom of random people that appear to have been taken recently at a family event of some sort (perhaps a holiday party or Thanksgiving). The towels are so worn down. You can hear every noise someone makes. I could hear the person's cell phone ringing in the next room. I've stayed at a number of great B&Bs but this place is a dump.
