They only get 4 stars from me because of the server. Her name is Alea and she made what should've been a really shitty dining experience to an awesome one. When we first got there, it seemed like the average age was 65 or higher. I felt like I was in the dining hall of a senior assistance home, there was so many old people. I have this very small, unusual fear of old people, but only if I don't know you... So this place in particular was like a haunted house of old folks.. Smh. Moving along! Weirdly enough, the staff was young, and the general store was completely overpriced but still fun to look at. I found cute stuff for my friends who both have babies on the way (shout out!!!) so the wait was pretty cool and I didn't mind it. The only thing that sucks is "Janice" sounds a lot like "Janet" and "janiece" so every time the hostess called someone by any of those names, I would run to the counter thinking my name was called, when in actuality some 90 year old white woman had the same name as myself, or sounds like my name, was being ushered to their table by the hostess that looked all of about 8 years old. Lol. Finally when my name was called, we got seated and that's when we met Alea. She was very energetic and had a smile on her face. Made great food suggestions and brought out condiments without me having to ask her. She saw I was a messy eater and she replenishes my napkins without being told. All with a smile on her face. I am sure she cussed out the cook for screwing my food up with a smile, she was that happy. When my food orders (I ordered a lot of food) came up and each one was wrong, she didn't even offer an excuse, but just an apology, took responsibility and gave me the correct orders. Amazing! Because one thing I can't stand is when someone gives me an excuse for when something goes wrong, instead of a solution. If my fellow Yelpers are in Frederick and need to eat at a spot that has great service, go to the Cracker Barrel and ask to sit in alea's section

You just can't go wrong with a Cracker Barrel. Period. But this location gets 5 stars due to it's friendly staff. Even more exceptional when every staff encountered is warm and welcoming.

The food is alright. Cracker Barrel food is usually prepared well. The place is clean. The folks at the checkout are usually very pleasant. The wait staff can be pretty hit or miss. The young lady who seated us had all of the personality of a wet mop. No welcome, how are you or anything of the sort. Just grabbed two menus, some silverware and started walking assuming we would follow her. She showed us to a table, laid down the menus & silverware & just walked away. Please, don't let me put you out by expecting you to make me feel welcomed or anything. Our waitress seemed tired and ready to call it a day. I asked for extra napkins. Never got them. Drink service was a bit slow. Sorry, it may seem petty, but that can be a make-or-break for me. I was thinking first horse in the fifth race as a tip, but I figured I would be nice and throw in a couple of dollars. Overall, it's there. Don't expect a whole lot more than minimum. Hopefully, I just caught them on a bad night.

Normal Cracker Barrel with Cracker Barrel breakfasts. Friendly staff and clean facilities. There aren't too many things you can do different with a chain like this. Good eats. Good people. Good gift shop. Now I am just going to continue writing until the app stops saying that my review is shorter than most. There we go, it says I'm rolling now.

Good food. Great service. I think little country side restaurants always have the best service, well, unless you have a little raging server, then GTFO of there. When you enter, there is a store upfront. You can do a little shopping before having your meal. They have everything. From clothes, to kitchen ware, to syrups to household interior and exterior items. To get to the restaurant you have to walk all the way to the back then make a left. The hostess is there behind the stand waiting for you, not in a creepy way of course. Anyways, when you enter the restaurant you just get the country feel. The decor is very cute and very much country. On each table there are play pegs you can play with and entertain yourself while waiting for the server and the food. For the food: I had rainbow trout and it was delish. It was cooked perfectly and seasoned perfectly. The dish came with 3 veggie dish - they had a wide selection of veggies, but for the certain dish I got, you were to choose three. The three veggies I had were: 1) salad - not too fresh so I didn't finish it, 2) dumplins - yes dumplins, not dumplings; also it wasn't a veggie, it was dough and starch, so not sure why it was one of the options, 3) steamed broccoli - it was steamed just right, got that crunch in there! Overall the meal was yummy. Service was spot on, expect for the server giving us the bill too early. I know they always say, "no rush, take your time", but I think it is kind of meh to leave the bill that early. We weren't even done with our plates, we could have wanted dessert, who knows! Overall service was great. The server kept checking up on us. She was on point with drinks. She - Tiffany - was great. Also the checkout staff was very lovely. She got me to buy some merchandise -.- sneaky sneaky. Just and FYI, you have to walk back out to the store to pay for your meal. Once the server gives you the bill, go to the store checkout and that's where you pay.

Much like any other Cracker Barrel I've been to. It took a while to get seated since we had a larger party. The store is generic so we had a place to wander around while we waited. We were seated in about 20 minutes for a party of 6. We ordered, I had pancakes, eggs, bacon, and I got free hashbrowns (yay). Food was pretty good and service was pretty quick. Overall a good cracker barrel.

We went here for breakfast the other day we had a great waitress and the food was good as always. The only issue I had was I ordered coffee and I never do. The coffee was awful me and another gentleman was talking about it as we left.

Being from California, I had never been to a Cracker Barrel, I had heard how amazing they were, and when I got the chance to go to one, I went. Twice. Very homey southern country style atmosphere, great menu, huge portions, great price, the grits weren't what I was expecting, very thin, but then again, I am from California so perhaps I am not the best judge of grits. Country Fried Steak was incredible, biscuits were great, fluffy and good, gravy was a little smokey, which was great-different but great. The general store in the front of the restaurant is quaint, the perfect mix of capitalism and food. I'm a fan.

Super delicious breakfast and cute store! Would highly recommend to eat here when you´re lazy to make breakfast. Everything's fairly cheap and start from $5 up. Portions are large and in case you don't necessarily want to wait for the food, you can visit the store at the entrance to kill time! Love home styled country food. Its honestly fulfilling to come here.

I'm always a fan of the "Barrel" and being a former employee of the chain (no worries, I've had no employment connection to CB Corporation since 2009) I can say that this is one chain restaurant that is legit, not only when it comes to food quality but safety. I'm from the Frederick area, so I visit this location a lot to see old friends. We received good service and the breakfast was great.

Came here for a father's day brunch with family. I have gone here on and off and still quality service and food. It was PACKED today and we had a party of eight but it didn't take that long to get seated. I had the 8oz seared sirloin with cabbage and cottage cheese (they have some of the best around) with a biscuit. I also had orange juice with my meal which was okay. The greeting hostess, cashier, our actual server, and manager really great, polite and friendly. I just have one thing to say about the person that took our family to our table, I hope he reads this. Listen you little bitch Austin, instead of standing there like a moron with your mouth a gape as you see someone struggle in a wheelchair to get through while her family try to move the chair for her, DO SOMETHING AND NOT BE A WASTE OF OXYGEN!!! Seriously you're a asshat and should think about quitting your job. I wasn't shocked your co-workers were not surprised though concerned about your lack of pride in your work. My venting is done. He didn't ruin our dining experience but I noticed he was causing similar issues for other patrons.

I don't like the Cracker Barrel chain. To have to walk through their tourist trap (the "Old Country Store" is nothing short of gouache. Both the service and food during a recent breakfast visit was competent, despite a large table of boisterous men at an adjoining table. I'd have preferred to have been seated further from their hubbub. Still, staff was up to the task and might not have been. I'd be back to Cracker Barrel if I had to be. The brand is incapable of wowing me, probably because my taste buds and sensibilities are too blue-state urbane. "Country" fits me like a square peg in a round hole; guilty as charged.

They cannot manage their breakfast crowd. They tell you 20 minutes after 45 minutes they could still not give me a time and also refused to tell us where our name was on the list so we could gauge whether or not to stay. Not going to try this one again.

We are in Frederick Maryland for a wedding so we decided to get some lunch before hand. There was a short wait before our party of 10 was seated, the restaurant was pretty crowded. It was nice that there is a little crafts shop in the restaurant that you can browse through while waiting. They had cute little items at very cheap prices. When we sat we were greeted by 2 waiters, one for each side of our long table. They promptly took our order. They were nice and quick with the service. Drinks and bread came out almost immediately. There is a hearty selection to choose from on the menu, enough to please anyone's mood. I ordered a ribeye, which came with a salad and bake potato for only $14. The food was good, not great, but it is definitely good for what you pay for. The restaurant was clean and well presented. For a feel at home meal in Frederick with a large group, this place will do the trick!

This location of the Cracker Barrel is close to my mom's house. She's a senior citizen & I use this place to bribe my teenager into going to visit his grandmother. There isn't a Cracker Barrel location anywhere near where I live (Loudoun County, the fastest growing county in the USA... hello? Any marketing people out there?) so it's a novelty for us to visit this one. The host staff is friendly &, although the lobby (if you want to call it that; actually it's the gift shop [capitalism at its most blatant]) is usually full on the weekends, the wait is usually less than they tell you. I had to laugh today when we went for lunch; there was a country song on the Muzak that was saying, "America, America, if you pick something up off a shelf & it doesn't say made in the USA, put it back! I know I can count on you!" Believe me when I tell you, there wasn't one piece of junk in that gift shop that wasn't made in China! And honestly, it's all junk. But my teenager loves it (retro toys like Gumby & Mr. Bill; old-fashioned candy; Yankee Candles [yes, my son stood there & took the lid off every candle & smelled it]; etc.) & so does my mom. The food at Cracker Barrel is beige, the kind that we chronically overweight Americans love. We all ordered from the breakfast menu. My mom's diabetic & she was pleasantly surprised that she could order Egg Beaters, turkey sausage, & sugar-free jelly. My son was thrilled because he got the hash brown casserole ("Mom, you should try to make that") & a huge soup bowl of sausage gravy. That said, the food was cold & took over 30 minutes to be served although the dining room was only a bit over half full. Our waitress - who I've seen working at this restaurant for at least 6 months - seemed eager to get away from our table so we wouldn't ask for anything else. My mother had to ask to have her coffee refilled 3 times, & my son & I sat with empty soda glasses until we finally had to flag down the waitress. We didn't complain (we're pretty good-natured people). Bless her, our server just wasn't the most ebulliently enthusiastic person on the planet. I know we'll return to this location; we enjoy it anyway (I love the huge fireplace & kitschy vintage memorabilia on the walls). Our check before tip was $28 for 3, which is very good. We left 15% for a tip BTW. Don't forget to hang onto your wallet in that gift shop!

This CB is just like any other, super busy, but they can get you in and out quick. My husband had the biscuits and gravy and I had the country fried steak. My hubby wasn't too happy to see his plate not covered with some small biscuits and his eggs and sausage. He had been craving this kind of breakfast for a week now - I should have just made it myself. The country fried steak, on the other hand, is too involved for me to make at home, so I was satisfied with what I got. The biscuits do seem a lot smaller than they used to be and the corn muffin was on the dry side. No matter what, I'll always be a fan of the Cracker Barrel. It's a great place to blow my money on candy and other random trinkets. The food will never be top notch, but it's still decent comfort food.

When a food runner sits food down in front of you and says - I wouldn't eat that , it looks gross .... That's a good indication that this is a place to stay away from. Not to mention $42 for 3 people's brunch. For food that an employee said "looks gross". I will never return. Ever. For any reason. Cheers to you Cracker Barrel in Frederick - you get the award for craziest comment made by someone serving food .

Went in today with my mother and everything was delicious as usual, ordered the chicken fried chicken and the caramel chocolate chip blondie for dessert. The service was excellent thanks Alex! As a waitress myself I know how difficult the job can be and our waiter did a great job with us as well as his other tables.

Normally I enjoy cracker barrel. However this is the second bad dinner I've had at this particular restaurant. The first was a country fried steak that looked and tasted like it was straight out of a freezer and then overcooked. This one was a rib special that was dry and overcooked. The service has been lousy; Not what you expect from this chain. This restaurant has lost my business.

Ordered a Reuben tonight. It came out as cheese and sourcrowt. Waitress never refilled our drinks. My husband got the country fried steak they put a tiny tiny bit of gravy on it. We won't be back.

I thought the breakfast was overall pretty good, but the side dishes seemed a little on the small side. I heard this place had really good pancakes, but when I tried them,I think I set to high of expectations.I don't think it's worth it if it isn't close by ;I would rather go to a closer restaurant such as IHOP . The service in this restaurant was good; everyone was very friendly and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere.

Had to try this out since they don't have this in California. When you enter, you first enter the store area. You have to go to the back left corner of the store to find the hostess. Got seated and ordered some food. Food came out about 15 minutes later. How do I know this? My girlfriend was able to look around the shop for some time and came back and the food wasn't there. At least it's fresh, I guess? The chicken fried steak was dry. They mask this by adding gravy. The eggs were alright. They're farm-fresh eggs, perhaps? The grits were really gritty and bland. Had to dump a whole bottle of hot sauce (that's what it seemed like at least). The French Toast was okay as well. Nothing to rave about. Would prefer Waffle House over this place.

They seem to be hit or miss when it comes to service, speed and accuracy. Granted, my opinions of chain restaurants is not on the top of the scale by any means, when it comes to Cracker barrel, it is what it is. I only tend to eat here once or twice a year tops now, due to the spotty service.

What can I say--it's a Cracker Barrel. The store inside is nice. I always get breakfast food when I come, and the pancakes here are great (very big, cooked perfect).

Wow...We've always enjoyed the "country feel" of a good Cracker Barrel. This one, however, is not a good one. After being seated and overall, we waited on the waiter for very long intervals. Our waiter seemed to have "forgotten" that I even existed. Four other people at the table received salad or apps (while I had to order mine a second time) and then, lo and behold, I had to remind him what my entree was and reorder that. Throughout the entire meal, the table sat with empty glasses. When my entree finally arrived, (chicken-fried steak), it had been prepared in old oil. The flavor was unbearably bad and although I was willing to pay for it, not eat it, and order a burger instead, the waiter seemed irritated with me. The burger arrived without the side of mayo I'd asked for and the waiter disappeared after tossing it on the table. I waited a 1-2 minutes to catch a glimpse of him again and when he showed up, the rest of table was finished with their meals. I asked for a carryout box and a side of mayo...we left. We won't be back. Not good for groups or children because of the wait times during the meal and groups would absolutely shut this place down.

The store has so many things to look at -- I think that's what I was most excited about when I got there. The food... not so much. Everything tasted pretty bland. We tried the chicken fried steak, as well as their eggs, grits, french toast (nothing special) bacon & hash brown I believe. I pretty much doused my grits with Tabasco.... they were very gritty and didn't have much taste. There were also fairly large ants crawling around our table too... At least I was able to get a couple of tasty "Sugar Daddy's" on the way out. One of my favorite candies!

We have eaten here twice, once for breakfast and once for dinner, and the first time was so-so (had to wait a long time to be acknowledged and waitress wasn't attentive at all) but this last time was excellent. Most recently our server was Queen and she was outstanding. The table next to us were a very odd family of 6 or 7 who all obviously had something wrong with them - the grandfather kept having these loud inappropriate outbursts, the son and wife got in a fight and he threw her purse at her and left, and the wife had to cancel her husband's order and get her food to go, and the teenagers looked like The Hills Have Eyes. Anyway, Queen handled them really well while still making sure we had everything we needed. The food came out piping hot and in record time. Our check was under $20 for two big dinners. We will definitely be back.

Very slow and poor service. Two tables coming in after us had their meal fully ten minutes before we were served. Drinks not filled. Servers interrupting when we asked about it. Asked the manager to check on the order and never saw him again.

Love this place. Prices are great, the food is good and the waitress we had was super nice! My favorite is Uncle Herschel's special, fried catfish, grits, sausage gravy and biscuits, hashbrown casserole and two eggs however you like them. All for around 7 bucks. My kids love the chicken and dumplings and my hubby loves the reuben with a side of pancakes. They can be a bit stingy with the syrup but all you have to do is ask for more. Cracker Barrel you will always be my friend.

Cracker Barrel is one of my favorite chain restaurants, but this location isn't well managed. The men's room was a mess, a waiter emerged from a stall and barely washed his hands. My own waiter was not very professional. He called me "buddy" no fewer than six times, didn't bother to bring silverware (I had to get it myself from the hostess station), never asked if I wanted the customary refill of iced tea, and literally took my plate out of my hands before I was finished eating. This is very unusual for Cracker Barrel, but I am not inclined to be a customer at this particular location again.

Got my first taste of Cracker Barrel here with my American friends. We went for brunch, and I had Grandpa's Breakfast which came with fried chicken, eggs, and hash-browns - it wasn't healthy, but it was tasty! They serve you biscuits (the Southern American kind, not the Australian kind) for the table, and the (white) gravy that comes with them was really tasty. The coffee was OK, but not great (next time I'll probably get the iced tea). Both the coffee and iced tea have free refills. Our server was a bit weird, but she got all the things we asked for and kept bringing us as many biscuits as we wanted (which has nothing to do with how many we needed), so no real complaints there. While we had to wait a little while, it was a Sunday on the Labour Day long weekend, so it was no big deal.

September 3rd, 2013 was my first-time experience with Frederick, Maryland Cracker Barrel. Since I don't usually expect remarkable experiences at chain restaurants except consistency in one way or the other this turned out to be an unexpected experience! I love the "front porch" lined with pristine rocking chairs! I discovered entering the "restaurant" that it has a loaded with a beautifully laid out retail store. Since I was waiting for a friend to meet me, I was able to look more closely at the inventory and was impressed with the variety and quality of the merchandise. The staging of the merchandise was invitingly colorful, laid out appealingly, and easy to maneuver through considering it was in such abundance. From my arrival and throughout the rest of the time at Cracker Barrel we were greeted and treated in a very warm, welcoming manner by everyone working there that we encountered and interacted with. Everything about our experience in the restaurant was carried out gracefully and in a timely fashion. The menu was substantial and varied - lots of choices for those looking for healthy selections, to those counting calories, to those allowing themselves indulgences the opposite end of the spectrum! The menu items we selected were delicious and served exactly as we requested and at the perfect temperatures for the items ordered. Our server was attentive and keep our coffee cups filled with delicious hot coffee. After our meal we shopped in the store portion. We made purchases and received helpful attention from the Cracker Barrel team that was on the floor stocking inventory as well as from the cashier who was stellar in her demeanor and attention! I love this restaurant and its retail area. I will definitely include this restaurant regularly in my eating venue choices from now on.

This is our family's comfort food destination. Every couple of months we need our fix, corn bread, sweet tea, and home style goodness. The food is, as you would expect, consistent, the portions are reasonable, and the atmosphere is homey. This particular location is clean and well run. Many of the servers have been there for years and we've learned to recognize several of them. This particular visit we had a new waiter, Thomas, who was efficient, friendly, and had a fun and pleasant personality. They did have a new menu item, salmon patties. I had those and enjoyed them very much. They're served with tarter sauce and your choice of two veggies. Looking forward to our next Cracker Barrel fix!

This is the thing about cracker Barrel. Don't go if you are on a diet. I mean I am sure they have things like salad and healthier fare but come on... this is the Cracker Barrel. I never get anything different (cause why ruin what I love) but everyone else I go with gets other things. That being said I am complimenting this past time we were there. We went with my husband's parents as a Christmas Lunch. We met halfway and that was the best place for us to choose. We really did like the whole day. They were very friendly and were okay with us taking a table for 2 hours. The waitress was a little brisk but friendly and didn't get any of my father in law's jokes. (They are corny) and the manager was pleasant but tended to loiter about us a wee bit more then I liked. That is the whole reason for four instead of five.

If you are looking for healthy, vegan, uptight, and stuffy dining, please move on. If you are looking for delicious, homestyle, down-to-earth country cooking that sticks to your ribs and is inexpensive, please come on by! The service is always good and there's always a wait! But that's okay because the general store that is connected to the restaurant is fabulous for silly/fun gifts, lovely lotions and nostalgic candies/sodas. Just beware that most of the chocolates/sweets have hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils What do I like? Meatloaf. It's SO GOOD. What else is good? Chicken fried steak. The sides are just as tasty. The hash brown casserole is fantastic and the macaroni is very good too.

I am a fan of this chain but not this particular location. Consistently slow service and the food is not as good. After several visits, I believe we will stop coming here. Our last visit the food did not show up. Our server finally noticed and went to check. The manager apologized, to their credit. However, the food came missing one of our kids' order, so frustrated and not willing to wait, I gave him mine. My pancakes were overcooked and dry, on top of all this. Too bad.

The food at all the Cracker Barrel locations are pretty consistent. The boyfriend and I had bacon, ham, sausage, eggs, grits, apples, & biscuits & gravy. The food was pretty good. I actually wish I had ordered the pancakes or french toast. My dad ordered the pancakes and they looked extremely fluffy and smelled absolutely amazing. The service was great, the store was nice as usual. I went a little crazy with the Christmas ornaments.. The store has pretty much everything, I love looking around whenever I visit.

This is the best and our family's favorite place to go for breakfast in the Frederick area. The wait for a table can sometimes be long, but you can kill time walking around the store area. Something about this place makes our kids stay in their seat and actually eat their food. The quality of the food and price are good. We enjoy coming here.

When people ask me what i'm craving for i simply say, "Cracker Barrel's dumplings!" Yeah i know this place is definitely not your average restaurant but that's what makes it have a ring to their name. It's usually known for being located off the highway for truckers but it also has a very old country feel to things. Upon entering this place you actually enter their store. Very cute. It has things you wouldn't be able to find anywhere else. The cool knick knacks can keep you company as you wait for your table. When seated your server should usually come around with their homemade biscuits and cornbread. Biscuits i can live without but the cornbreads really good. I ALWAYS get the Lemon Pepper Trout accompanied by three sides which include; double Dumplings and Mac and Cheese. My friends always make fun of me from how much color my plate lacks and all the carbs it contains. But that's why i drive 30 minutes to this place. Cause it's usually what i never get to have all the time. I never have room for dessert so i can't really comment on that. My friends orders are usually scattered around the menu but they seem to always be happy with their meal. I know it's nothing 5 stars. But i gave it a 3 because of the down home meal i get for such a good bargain. It really is fat fat fat but personally, it's okay to give in to your cravings here and there. After dinner you just go to the cash register and proceed to pay. Different concept and it's definitely hard to go along with but you'll get used to it.

Excellent service. Excellent food-- but hard to go wrong with a simple meal like the "Good Morning" healthy breakfast. The eggs were done perfectly, the turkey bacon and cheesy grits, also. The fruit was fresh and delicious, as well as the coffee. Drank the coffee black which in my book means the coffee is excellent. I will say the food I saw being brought to the other tables looked and smelled delicious. The portions are definitely on the generous side. We arrived at 7:30a on a Sunday so there were maybe 15 people seated. However by the time we left at 9:30a (have not seen my friends in quite some time-- not because service was bad), it was PACKED. Perhaps that is when service is slow or the food not as good? Who knows-- I did not have a bad experience.

I was here for lunch/dinner and it was great. I've only been to CB before for breakfast, and always liked that, but lunch/dinner is great too. Had some sort of fried chicken and swapped halfway through the meal with my friend for some sort of fried fish. Mac and cheese is always good there too. However, only thing that I ate that I was not a big fan of was the chicken dumplins. They skin seemed a bit uncooked. But, overall, would definitely go again (to any CB) for lunch/dinner.

My server, Susan, was the worst I've experienced in a long, long time. People at another table with a different waitress received food before us even though they sat down after we had ordered. She took her sweet time with any of our requests (even just for a pitcher of water). When my friend said that part of her meal had not been brought out (this was ten minutes after the food was brought out since she disapeared entirely and did not check up on us at all during that time), the waitress did not apologize. "Oh, ok, I'll get that." When a different friend asked for an extra biscuit, she replied "I'm sorry, we're all out." This is freaking CB, how do you run out of biscuits? The only reason this place gets two stars is because it is a CB. Other than that, pssssh.

Great service. Great food. Good management. Excellent value for the amount and quality of food you receive. I would give 5 stars but they don't give military/veteran discount...which is ironic considering they have a Wounded Warrior Project plaque of recognition prominently displayed and carry the "official" line of military rocking chairs. It's further surprising because every other Cracker Barrel I have been to gives a military discount.

Im usually not the type to go out and eat breakfast because Im so picky about my bacon and eggs. So getting ready to go on a long trip our tradition is to make a pit stop at CB. So I get the usual. Eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and toast. Simple right? You betcha! First, we get seated right away. Our waitress comes fast with water and takes our drink order. My eggs: over easy, bacon extra crispy but not too crispy. hasbrowns just right. The kiddies order blueberry pancakes and they made it look like mickey mouse! How sweet!!! but they were delicious! I almost finished my daughters pancakes they were good! Orange juice was average... it wasnt like momma bear was in the kitchen fresh squeezing oranges all morning. The hubs got some omlette. It was good. The biscuits and gravy were good too... Overall, a good meal.. That will put you right back to sleep even if you just woke up. Oh and the shop!! Of course we had to browse around the shop before we left. I had to beat the hubs in checkers...unless he allow me to win :(. Candy from back in the days! All the cool toys from back in the days are here but way over priced and I wouldnt buy them even if I had the moola because it would break by the time I get home. We need a Cracker Barrell in Moco and not IHOPs and Bob Evans. Tyvm.

I went here yesterday for breakfast. I arrived around 9:30 AM and had no problem getting seated right away. The menu was quite expansive and each menu item included a ton of food for the price. I got a seasonal dish Six Grain n' Granola Pancake Breakfast. It only cost around $8 and included eggs, sausage, bananas, three large pancakes, and honey (in lieu of syrup). Unlike other breakfast places I tend to go to, the food was hot when it reached the table. It was really tasty, too. Our waitress was great as well. She was really helpful and stopped by our table frequently. I will definitely be back again soon!

Came to this Cracker Barrel for dinner Saturday night and it was crowded! Was so happy to see a Cracker Barrel on 270, wasn't sure how often they break away from 1-95. Got on the list but didn't have to wait as long as the hostess said. As a former hostess, I understand estimating the wait times is almost impossible, but almost as bad as underestimating is overestimating-because people will leave if you tell them too long. Not me, of course; Cracker Barrel would be my last meal on Earth. But other people.. Our server, Jodi, was such a sweetheart and even though it was busy, she took care of us and everything came out great. She made our Shih Tzu happy-the hush puppies were put in the to-go container and brought home for him.

Not impressed. I recently stopped by for dinner. I ordered beef stew with a side order of greens. When the stew arrived, it had big chunks, and I do mean big chunks' of potatoes, one and I looked, carefully, 0ne small slice of carrot, and one small piece of beef. It must have been the vegetarian version. The greens actually had more meat then the stew. When I sent an email to the manager and got a call back he wanted to blame the food on the server. I was a bit confused because I am sure that the server had not cooked the food. For the price, I think you can get a higher quality of food almost anywhere in Frederick. Below average food with above average price.

Crackerbarrel is the modern Stucky's but more than a counter and a store. Carbohydrate Heaven but with a lo-carb section where you can get 5-8 carb count meals (but lots of fat). But some of the best reasonably priced breakfast on our hyways today. And the fried chicken and meatloaf is pretty good too. The worse thing you can encounter is a sawmill gravy that's glue and chicken and dumplings that's gone to mush. But if something's wrong, tell them, they're there to fix it. While there is some variation between sites, the biscuits could be dry at one, and perfect at another that's mostly a function of when they made them last, the entries generally taste the same. There's little to not like, since it's moderate pricing, friendly staff, and good value. Crackerbarrel's worse problem is the menu, which gives a name for a set of entrées and sides, with a fairly large order of combinations. With a given egg dish, you can choose from 3 breads )biscuits, corn muffin, sour dough) or pancakes, plus grits, 4 meats, and 2 kinds of potatoes or cooked apples and sawmill gravy tossed in on another plate. There are 12 side dishes at lunch/dinner. My biggest disappointment on this trip (we ate 3 times at different ones in the area) was that they have now gone from 100% maple syrup to 55% 'natural' syrup.

If you like large portions of country fried steak, this place is great! If you've ever traveled long stretches of I-95, you've probably seen a towering sign for a Cracker Barrel. Growing up, the only I Cracker Barrel knew of were the blocks of cheese at the the grocery store, so I thought, "Really? A whole store for crackers and cheese?" Food - I'm not American so I really don't know what comfort food is. For me, comfort food is usually covered in red pepper flakes, fermented and served with rice. From what I can gather though, comfort food is generally of a muted color and could be called come-fat food because it's all, as Ina K. puts it, "Carbs. All Carbs." All the food here is some shade of brown and is generally breaded and fried - even the green beans look brownish green. This used to be my favorite place for country/chicken fried steak until I ran into the King of the Road Chicken Fried Steak at the Iron Skillet in Mebane, NC (see pic). The buttermilk biscuits are great; make sure you ask for the apple butter. I never deviate from the country fried steak and I don't think I'm missing much. Btw, they SLATHER gravy all over your CFS and mashed potatoes, so you may want to ask for it on the side if you don't want to bleed gravy. The portions here are, like many of the diners, obese. Was that mean? Ok, they're pleasantly plump. Location - There's no such thing as a convenient Cracker Barrel unless you live in the middle of nowhere. And yes, before all the recent development, Frederick was Farderick or Farmderick. Most of the stores, however, are located just off the Interstate so they are convenient if you are traveling. They also have rocking chairs outside if you want to have a preview of what life will be like when you're 80, sans adult diapers. Only once did my group have to wait more than 5-10 minutes for a table so the large checker boards outside are a great way to pass the time, you know, because who really talks with the people they're dining with while they're waiting to be seated? Service - I've generally had friendly servers but the food does take about 30 minutes to arrive. They have this puzzle game on the table to pass the time, you know, because who really talks with the people they're dining with while they're waiting for their food? But on the real, that puzzle game is fun. It's a triangular block with plastic pieces in it with one missing. When you jump over a piece, you remove that piece and you keep going as long as you can (my personal best: 3). Fun/Fat Fact: I drove here twice in college (50+ miles) just to get CFS w/ friends.

Cracker Barrel was an old standby for my father (before he died) and anyone over retirement age. I don't know if it was the friendly female food servers or the fried foods served at reasonable prices along with the little touches like "you can have both a biscuit and a corn muffin if you can't decide." Comfort food with double a helping of comfort. However, the other day when I finally gave into my wife's pleading to pay CB another visit, we stopped by the Frederick outlet, fought our way through the gift shop, and were seated. I was at first very impressed with our food server. He was smooth and very friendly, and told me that he never had to be trained. He just slid into the job from his bartender hitch. This young Black man told me that his father was a cook in the kitchen. I ordered the barbeque ribs, my wife a catfish selection. Even with a packed restaurant, the food arrived before I was able to gulp down half my corn muffin smothered with butter. I couldn't believe such fast service. Then, after the food server left, my wife wondered if the fried fish was really CATFISH. Then I looked down and realized there was something wrong with the $12.99 McRib special. It looked like one of those plastic models of a meal in a Chinese restaurant. The sauce was congealed on top. When i cut into it, the rib meat was merely warm, not hot, to the touch. I imagined it had been sitting under a light waiting for a pickup. But I had just ordered it!!! My wife is not a complainer, and ate the breaded mystery fish without a word. I thought about complaining to the server about the congealed ribs, but it was so busy, I imagined waiting a while for it to be heated up. I asked the server for some BBQ sauce, hoping it would heat it up. I had to ask twice. He apologized both times, then ran off to deliver some pancakes or something. Once delivered, the sauce was almost cold, so I just brought the whole mess home and nuked it for lunch the next day. It was delicious. I think I would go back again. But I would have to realize that on any one day it might be a disaster. Next time I'll complain on the spot and get some immediate satisfaction from the food server. Maybe.

Always crowded. Love the country ambience. The food was delish. I love coming to this location. Chicken fried chicken was fried to perfection. And the eggs were scrambled just the way I like them. The grits were perfect. Not too runny and not too thick. The fried apples did not taste fried, however they were delectable. The biscuits were on point as always.

My family always comes here when we are in the area. Weekends are just not a good idea to come here. Coming in it looks like grandmas attic. A lot of old nostalgia stuff. Waiting time was 5-10 minutes no big deal. Hostess is nice. That's where the buck stops. Our waitress was so forgetful. I ordered a simple meal with eggs, hash browns, grits, Apple something, bacon and some sausage and biscuits and gravy. My child got a pancake meal. Pancakes were good. I give them props on that. My grits and gravy were cold to touch. My sausage if that's what you called it remind of the circle tins you use to wax leather shoes. It was undercooked I had to barf it out. Never did our waitress checked on us. I had to tell her 3x for refills. 3x for butter and about my under cooked sausage. After I got my new sausage, I gave up. It was just awful! The service was not good. The food was okay maybe a step up from Bob Evans or iHop. I wouldn't make a special trip to come here.

Hush puppies were some of the best I've had. Food (we ordered fried fish, dumplins, and trimmings) was good (not too salty) and prices were reasonable for portion size. The place to eat at when craving homestyle American food.

I'm a fan.

They cannot manage their breakfast crowd. They tell you 20 minutes after 45 minutes they could still not give me a time and also refused to tell us where our name was on the list so we could gauge whether or not to stay. Not going to try this one again.

Tyvm.

They seem to be hit or miss when it comes to service, speed and accuracy. Granted, my opinions of chain restaurants is not on the top of the scale by any means, when it comes to Cracker barrel, it is what it is. I only tend to eat here once or twice a year tops now, due to the spotty service.

They cannot manage their breakfast crowd. They tell you 20 minutes after 45 minutes they could still not give me a time and also refused to tell us where our name was on the list so we could gauge whether or not to stay. Not going to try this one again.

We were quickly seated and received prompt service. The food is always consistently good and the portions are huge! The sampler and similar platters can easily be shared with another person1

Tyvm.

I'm a fan.

Cheers to you Cracker Barrel in Frederick - you get the award for craziest comment made by someone serving food .

...nothing fancy, just Ol' American food. Although it was really busy this morning, we enjoyed look around general store. We found some great after holiday deals. Catfish, pancakes, hash brown casserole, etc.....all great!!!

Went in today with my mother and everything was delicious as usual, ordered the chicken fried chicken and the caramel chocolate chip blondie for dessert. The service was excellent thanks Alex! As a waitress myself I know how difficult the job can be and our waiter did a great job with us as well as his other tables.
