When I want fast Mexican food, I usually go to Chipotle, but my husband and I were looking to try a new place for lunch. Went to Baja Fresh and loved the large selection of items on the menu. I chose the Fire-Grilled Chicken Soft Tacos and my husband got the Steak Burrito. It was nice to get free chips to eat while we waited for our food. We visited the salsa bar and sampled all 6 salsa offerings - all delicious! The tacos were quite large and I was very happy with my selection. The chicken was very good (better than Chipotle, where I sometimes do not like the texture of it). Loved crisp slaw and the pico on top. My husband's burrito was huge - though he said it could have had more flavor. A little hot sauce helped though. Most recently we went with our Groupon ($12 for $20 worth of food). I noticed when purchasing that the offer said the Groupon must be used in one visit, so this time we went back with my mom. She loved the food also! It's a great place with delicious, fresh food all at a good price!

I bought a Groupon to get $20 worth of food for $12. When I went to go use this the manager said I had to spend more than $20 in order to use it. Nowhere in the Groupon does it say that or could he not produce anything in writing that said that that was the deal. So I guess I won't be eating here anymore. Considering they're closed several months for potential health reasons I would think they would be a little bit more accommodating to the customers and be more sympathetic. With all the restaurant choices in Frederick I certainly won't be making this one again. I can only hope the group I will refund my money.

Walked in on a Saturday and were the first ones in the place. It got relatively busy there quickly. Ordered the fish tacos amongst other stuff. The fried fish tacos were great. The shrimp ones were excellent too. It seems like fresh shrimp was used, hot and grilled. Salsa bar was excellent as always!

This location has been impeccably clean, friendly and quick. Often it is fairly empty, but it is a very nice location, convenient and the staff are excellent. Everything from my salad to the salsa bar and chips were extremely fresh. Something I appreciate. Something I don't appreciate is a lack of outdoor seating...but the cleanliness still warrants 5 stars. It's a chain restaurant, so I wont grade the food. If you want Baja Fresh salad, it tastes the same everywhere.

Absolutely dissatisfied. Went to use a Groupon like I have done 3 other times only to be told that I have to use the full value. In the past I have put the remaining balance on a gift card. Couldn't have cared less that they set a precedent. Even the supervisor that we called was unhelpful. Will never darken their door again.

I went here with my cousin for lunch the day before Christmas Eve and I've got to say that the food here is very different from Chipotle. I had a chicken burrito bowl and they gave me free chips, which was cool. What I liked at the restaurant is the salsa bar. My cousin recommended the mango salsa in the chips and it tastes so good. The staff are friendly and rapid. I will come back here again.

Service was good. The salsa bar was clean and fresh. Carnitas enchilada Style with chips and queso. The place was clean. And my food was hot and the portion was plentiful.

Good tacos here. I like the little salsa bar they have as well. Service is a bit slow, but the food is freshly prepared, so I don't mind. My only complaint is that they seem to run out of things often.

First, it is what it is. It is a "burrito and bowl" place, similar to Chipotle. But WAY better. The food was actually delicious. I had a burrito with grilled shrimp, and it was really, really good! My husband had a Diablo burrito smothered with enchilada sauce, and it was truly delicious too. The chips were awesome. Seriously, for a not-quite-fast-food place, it was fantastic! It was clean and the salsa bar was wiped down and full. Now.. the employees. They ranged from surly to bored, but they were helpful and did seem to get most of the orders right. (We sat near the pickup spot). The one error I saw was a special request that they had misunderstood, and they fixed it promptly. So the employees were not the greatest, but they weren't rude, and they were mostly efficient. It took about 5 minutes to get the order, but it was a pretty busy Saturday afternoon, and they gave us our chips and queso immediately. I believe they also give free chips and salsa. . All in all, there is no question we will be back. I won't go to the Chipotle near me because it's such a pain to park, and the way they make the food causes 20-minute waits. But if the owner/manager reads this, you might want to review your staff. In this day and age of unemployment, there is no excuse for having disengaged employees.

I was so happy when they opened up a while back then they closed and then opened back up. Other then there salsa and coupons they send in the mail I feel like theres no need to go back. The place is always empty when I go. There food goes downhill everytime I go back and Cafe Rio and Chipotle cleary have them beat unfortunately but no one has beat there baja salsa yet.

This location was closed for a while, rightly so...it was awful all the way around. Open again, it appears they've corrected all the issues they had previously. Maybe new ownership? Polite, nice staff, food what you'd expect, clean. Hardly any wait for my order. Give it a try again if you previously had a bad experience.

The service was not bad by the person working the counter. Food was under cooked and it did not taste very well. The one thing that bothered me the most was when I was paying and I noticed that the amount was more then I thought it should be. I saw my bill and realized that I was being taxed twice. I pointed this out to the employee who was working the cash register and he said "the machine was set to handle transactions, and that he did not do anything". I then asked to speak to the manager about this and then after he realized that I was right he gave me the correct change.

Tried this place for the first and last time. Told the guy three times what we wanted and they still got it wrong. Asked for two different kinds of chicken bowls and both got the same bowls. The chicken had no flavor at all. Fire-grilled chicken shouldn't taste like unseasoned baked chicken. Even the rice and onion tasted like nothing. The chicken taco also had no flavor and was thrown in a paper dish. Our first time and we didn't know we were suppose to get chips when we ordered, no one offered. Found out while we were waiting and saw the people after us get them when they ordered. Chips were ok. Salsas were just diced tomato. Didn't try the hot ones but the mild one didn't even taste like tomatoes onion and cilantro, tasted like nothing.

This one was poorly run compared to others I've been to. Baja Fresh as a chain is really good (love their food), but this particular location had terrible service and people who didn't seem to know what they were doing. I stopped going to this location after a couple of visits. I hope they get a new franchisee to take over this location and make it as good as other Baja Fresh locations in the area.

Service was mediocre, food prep was slow (there wasn't anyone in line before me and only two other patrons in the restaurant). I got a to-go order and the didn't give me (or tell me to pick up) utensils and napkins. Food was great, so only the people and service was sub par.

Terrible service. Super slow and they served it up out if order. Free chips not available but could buy some for extra cost. Food was cold cold cold. Bland and flavorless. Front order chick spent her time chatting up customers instead of taking orders. Real disappointment. Won't be back.

The Frederick location has been closed for a couple of months now. I literally just tried calling the number listed and it said cannot complete your call at this time. I like the food and the salsa bar. Service was never great but there has been a sign in the window about mechanical issues and something about closed until further notice.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
