Great food, great atmosphere, probably the most authentic Irish place I've ever been to in the US. Maybe some of these other reviewers would rather go to a country all you can eat buffet or something, but if you like a great Irish pub with very good food this is the best place around. Gotta be the best place in Elkton by a long shot

This has taken over the old Howard House but only covers the first floor now. Completely refurbished interior is nice. Long, narrow bar area and a hidden area with tables, benches, and some stools. There is also an alcove for bands. Lots of quality imported and domestic beers on tap at a reasonable price. The brickwork, wood trim, and large fireplace make for a enjoyable place to have a drink. The restaurant, on the other hand, was a disappointment. Most of the dining area has 4 person tables even though most of the diners were couples. This made every table full but with lots of empty seats. We were seated in about 15 minutes on a busy Saturday night. The butcher block table is still outgassing the smell of varnish as of March, 2014. A waitress came quickly with soda bread (excellent!) but we then did not see her even enter the dining area for another 25 minutes. Where was she? "Busy in the back" was her answer. The menu is rather limited with true pub fare. No burgers or crab dishes as is the norm in this area. You can get a sandwich with your choice of meat, cheese, and bread ($9). Prices are high for Elkton with most entrees $17 and up. There are a few interesting Irish dessert items but I did not try one. Food came within 15 minutes of ordering. My Shepherds Pie ($17) was tiny and bland. I have never paid so much for so little. I can get better at Ball & Thistle or The Whip for less. Server was friendly but as of now I would only go back for the bar.

We have been here several times and we really like the atmosphere of the restaurant. It is always well decorated, the music is good and the overall mood is pleasant. One of the things we would like to see from this place is clean and presentable menus. Being handed a wrinkled up, grease-spotted, dirty paper menu is a definite turn-off. The other thing is the food could be priced fairly, especially the portion. We felt we had paid too much for the bland Shepherd's pie and the small Guinness stew. Also, if I am paying $24 for a 6 ounce portion of steak and potatoes, why are they so greedy with the mashed potatoes? Are potatoes really that expensive?? That being said, if they clean up the menus and either be a bit more generous with the portions or lower some prices, I would give them a 4 out of 5. Hopefully this place will one day meet the expectations of its guests.

Overpriced!! Husband had beef stew for $13 and it was a small bowl. Tasted ok but nothing to write home about. For that price it should have been enough to fill him up and it wasn't. I had onion soup and it was good. It was $9, which isn't terrible for onion soup, but the portion size was very small. Drinks were expensive as well and my mixed drink (margarita) was weak.

Great place can't wait for the kitchen to open. I came back the kitchen is finally open, it was well worth the wait. The food is excellent. The service is a work in progress you can tell it is an all new wait staff.

Very nice, very clean, very friendly, but you can't eat at the bar or even at a 4 top if there are only 2 of you!

Not a big fan of this place. Definitely miss the Howard house! The menu is not very big. The items are a bit pricey. I wish they had more options in food and drinks especially since they are located on Main Street of elkton where locals like to grab a quick reasonable priced lunch.

Went here last night & it was awful. The service was slow & the food was not worth the price. There were 4 of us & we decided to split the $12 cheese platter, which consisted of a couple pieces of cheese, some tiny pieces of sausage & one small piece of bread. The food was mediocre as best. My boyfriend got a sandwich on their "pub roll" which was, in fact, a kind of burnt piece of white bread. Definitely won't be going back.

We tried to go here for dinner at 5:45 on a Sunday only to be told that they were done seating for the night. Hours are not posted on the doors or anywhere online, as there is no website. Maybe we should have called first, but before 6 on a Sunday is by no means an abnormal time to go to dinner.

Had lunch there today....with a group from work. 8 of us, with a reservation. A couple coworkers said its a great pub to experience. Natalie I think, was the server. Very nice, well-meaning. Place was nearly empty. The wait wasnt bad at all....but the server made some mistakes - like twice handing food to the nearest guest to pass on instead of stepping closer and giving it to the right person. The table was easily accessible on 3 sides so no excuse there. Then twice handed me silverware with the blade pointing at me....a little tough to grasp without feeling like a cave man. Coffee was luke warm so none of us drank it. That was probably 10 bucks. I had the beef stew and it was pretty good. Pretty predictable but nicely presented and hot. Great brie and tomatoe soup and that was hot. 3 layer chocolate truffle cake was grandly named for what tasted and felt like a frozen packaged product. Im told it used to be better. Ill go back one more time cause the place was nice and the server very pleasant. Theyll get one more chance.

Went to Minihane's for lunch today with my dad when I came to visit. Interior was charming, nicely redone. Fresh flowers on the table were a nice touch. Food was very good, nice Irish menu. I had the fish and chips w mushy peas-very tasty! Would definitely come back. The area where I live has The Whip Tavern, this was a similar feel. This place has a good atmosphere.

What a disappointment! Bar was nice. But don't eat here. It took 25 minutes from the time we were seated until the waitress came back for our order. And for $18.00 I had a beef stew served in a soup bowl. I thought at first it was an appetizer. I would recommend going to The Whip in Coatesville, PA. Much better food & service.

We went last night 6/26/14 after the car show in downtown Elkton because we heard it was "Irish Night" and there would be entertainment at 7:30, however we finished our meal & left around 8pm because the band never started! I loved the atmosphere, however I was very disappointed with the menu! OVERPRICED & Lacking Real Irish flair! $17.00 for fish & chips! The fish was very good though! My mother in law had a steak (only one choice for $21.99 & not very big!) Everything was served in an upscale fashion although it's called a"PUB?" Very few appetizer's and the ones they had didn't inspire me to try them!! We have been to Galway Bay in downtown Annapolis, MD & this did not even compare! I really hope they re-think their menu & prices, because the Restaraunt was beautiful & our service was excellent!! Our waitress was Alyssa & she was fantastic! Very friendly & met our every need!! I also forgot to mention that the bread the give you was very good!!! Especially the small chunks that tasted like garlic!! Loved those pieces!! Again, I think to survive they are gonna have to take a look at some other very successful Irish Pubs & tweek their menu! Also more Irish entertainment!! I went to an Irish Bar in the Tropicana (AC, NJ) and they had a great band & a menu that just made you wanna come back for more!!!

The interior of this restaurant is beautiful. Beautifully and simply decorated, I felt like I was having an intimate dinner with my dad. Service was very slow. I don't know if that was because they run on an unhurried time or if the one waitress just had so much to do with the three tables. I got the Shepard's pie, which was a little bland but piping hot. My dad got the Bangers and Mash, which he scarfed and said was very tasty. I would have expected more Irish beer on tap, but apparently they specialize in Irish whiskey. The bar area seemed busy. It was more or less fully stocked. I would spend a few dollars there. Overall, I would return when I am in town again.

While they did a nice job renovating the old Howard House, the food and drinks are very expensive for what you get. And seriously, how can you claim to be an authentic Irish Pub and Restaurant if you don't offer boxty?

The interior reminds me of a basement. It's quaint with the exposed stone and brick walls. The womans restroom is spacious and clean. The bar area is cool. Thats's the good. Now for the bad. Our server was terrible, the food pricey, portions small and the food was mediocre. It was so loud from the adjoining bar we had a hard time hearing our own conversation. We like to try new places , checking Minihane's off that list, no way was it worth the hour drive there. Will never go back.
