I was worried about food poisoning with this place. I have eaten here over ten times in the 6 years I have lived in the area. Each visit has gotten worse and worse, this last visit will be the last time for sure. My second to last visit, I did actually get sick, meat was fine tasting but suspected the lettuce could have been bad. I like lettuce on my burger, I get it wherever I go or when I make burgers myself, so after giving this place a second chance after my food poisoning, I ordered two jake jr's with cheese and the typical condiments I get (including lettuce). The burgers I received were squashed like someone stepped on them and the lettuce was stinky, wrinkled, shriveled and black. I discovered it after consuming half of my first burger. I peeled the rest of the lettuce off my food and finished the meal because I was starving and the food was brought to me. I saved my receipt and hoped I wouldn't get sick. The meat was chewy greasy hunks of gristle. It seems ever since Jakes changed to Wayback, they have gone Wayback. In quality. I would rather have a burger from McDonald's.

Ok, I have to say that the burger I got here was actually good. The patty tasted like it had been made fresh, and I liked the grilled bun. The shakes are a little disappointing for being made from flavoring mixes rather than actual chocolate or fruit added to the ice cream, but I can live with that. The fries are a bit pricey for the size of the serving, but I thought they were pretty tasty. Where I ran into issues, though, was the environment. When I got there, an old guy was giving some of the counter workers the business. They seemed to be joking back with him, though, so I figured he might be a regular. A couple minutes later, I noticed he was giving a woman sitting and waiting for her order some similar abuse. Maybe he knew her? She equally seemed game to give back as good as she got. Then two more women came in, ordered, and sat down near me. The guy came over, and for lack of a better word, started to really creep on them. Asking if they were married. Making "jokes" about how they looked. Asking if they were going back to work later. Both women were starting to look REALLY uncomfortable when their order came up, and they got the hell out of there. All of this happened about 15 feet away from the counter, in direct site of the cashier and at least two other employees, none of whom said anything or did anything to stop this guy from harassing other customers. That's not the kind of business I'm comfortable supporting.

I'm giving this place 1 star for the service. I've been burned twice using the online ordering mechanism. In both cases, my order hadn't even been started when I came to pick it up. The employees blamed the incompetence on the fax machine, but did not offer any solutions on either occasion. The burgers are delicious, but I will never spend money at this establishment again.

They have the best sweet tea at this location. The guys working the counter are the nicest people ever.

Wow. They're really proud of the awards they won in 2005. Still. This is the good burger of the area? I guess. Burger was just a'ight. Bun was good and fries were acceptable. Staff was friendly and knew what they were doing. If there is some cult of Jakes Wayback Burgers or some shit than I don't need to take any food advice from these people. I'd go back but only if you're treating me.

Love to stop here when I'm passing through. The standard burgers are very good and their monthly burger special are always unique and fun. As the name implies it's an old-school burger joint....not fancy but good. Great milkshakes, too, and the fresh made chips are much better than the pike if greasy fries you get at 5-Guys. Better food, better value. Wish the staff was a little friendlier but I usually get carry-out so it's not a big deal for me.

I was looking for a different place for burgers in the area and heard about this place. The Big Jake burger (3 patties) was quite good. It was seasoned well. The onion rings were quite good as well. The milkshakes albeit little lacking on the amount they give you was quite tasty. Not bad at all.

Don't know why this place is always fawned over. The burger meat is really tough and chewy every time. There is always at least one "gristly yuck surprise nugget." The fries are standard but pretty good. The shakes are also ok but they usually skimp on the chocolate and they're usually kinda warm and melty. If you drink the shake there they give you the rest in the metal cup. If you order the shake to go they just pour it in a medium cup and throw the rest of the shake away. They usually run pretty decent specials and coupons but the food is not that great. I come once or twice a year hoping it will be better and my opinion is always a resounding "meh".

Best cheeseburgers in Cecil (MD) and New Castle (DE) Counties!! The fries and burgers are always fresh and made to order. Kids eat free if on site and an adult orders a burger with fries and a drink. Their new hot potato chips are great, if they haven't been sitting under the heat lamp for too long. Most milkshakes are great, but the chocolate milkshake is just a little lacking with a chocolate syrup add in flavor and not genuine chocolate ice cream?! Try the Burger of the Month, it's usually delicious!

We've always loved Jake's, and when we heard one was coming to Elkton, my family was psyched. The burgers are the main reason to go, and they are awesome - the meat is sort of loose, which lets the cheese melt into it. Their fries are hot and salty, and you must get a milkshake. I usually get a vanilla shake, but they have a shake of the month that can be intriguing. The inside of the building isn't very big, so I usually do take-out. Be sure to call ahead! It's also not very expensive - yay!
