It is what is is. Nothing fancy, good food and willing to make recommendations if you are unfamilair with Vietnamese food (which is really fresh, so I tend to like it a bit more than regular old Chinese. I am giving this 3 stars which mean "A- ok", because that is truly what it is. The place could probably use a little work to the atmosphere (darker lighting, music, etc.) but it was clean and welcoming so I can't hate on it too much. Maybe I'm a little jaded because I am a 28 year old bachelor and maybe this place is set up for famlies and I don't see the value in that- so again- I can't say bad things about it. The food was good and VERY good portions for the price. The waitress was very pleasant and somewhat relaxed, which is nice. There was only one waitress working last night and you can see she was busy. So besides doing something with the mood of the place, and maybe a hostess- I can't see much beyond that. They are a new restaurant so I understand some things will have to wait. Until then- I would definately recommend this place for a mid- week, healthy, and decently priced meal.

Great Pho! Excellent noodles! Go here for Vietnamese food...excellent, fresh, addictive. The beef pho with brisket, meatball, lean beef is amazing. I have missed Vietnamese food since the Saigon Palace in Annapolis near Graul's closed many years ago... this a a good alternative. No atmosphere and TV is always on soap operas at lunch, but the food is so good you won't care.

We tried this place the moment they opened and that was a mistake, but a recent visit has revealed this place is definitely good to go and has made it on to our regular rotation list. Our first visit in the first few days they opened suffered from our own extreme expectations of finally some Vietnamese in the Annapolis area and from the restaurant's growing pains of new staff, building, etc. Meals were 'meh' and service was confused, to say the least. That's all changed. Our recent dinner was excellent, reminding me of some of the great Vietnamese places in the Northern Virginia area. We had the Pho Tai & Tripe which came in a very large bowl and also the Bun Bo Nuong (?) which is a rice noodle with beef and a sweet sauce (I always knew it as Bun Bo Xioa but I think it is the same). Can recommend both--the later is good for folks with less than adventurous palates who want to try something safe. Had the summer rolls which were about as good as any others I've had. Decor is clean, service was quick and responsive. We were definitely pleased that we tried this place again and will be back more in the future.

I'm starting to notice a pattern with my reviews. Most of them are a solid four stars. I wouldn't say it is because I'm easy to please I just pick the right places and Saigon Palace is definitely one of those good places. My boo and I decided to try this place for our weekly pho fix. Our goal is to try the pho at every Vietnamese joint in the area. Week one, Saigon Palace. We walked in and were seated right away. This was a lot fancier than our usual paper napkin Vietnamese restaurants but it wasn't over the top. (By fancy I mean cloth napkins and no plastic dinnerware) They were quick to bring us two waters that would not go empty the rest of the night because of their due diligence in making sure we were never in need. We both ordered the Pho Tai. You have a choice of small or large. I originally chose the small but consulted with the waitress and she pointed to a gentleman who had a large bowl. A large here is comparable to a Los Angeles medium/small. In Los Angeles a large is almost the size of a freaking dutch oven. Anyway we haven't had pho in awhile so Larges all around!! We also ordered the summer spring roll. About 5 mins later the spring roll came out. It was so hot, as in temperature. This was undoubtedly fresh. Really nothing special but it was good. Your typical spring roll I presume. On to the pho. I was so happy to see the beef was reddish/pink floating in my delicious, bubbling broth. I tailored it to my liking with a healthy handful of bean sprouts, jalapenos, Thai basil, a big squirt of sriracha and top it all off with a lime. A quick stir and I'm ready to go. It was delicious. The broth was clean and full bodied. The vermicelli was perfectly cooked and the meat was outstanding. My nose started to run because I'm a glutton for punishment and always put a little too much sriracha. It was $7.99 for a large bowl, which is a little expensive, but totally worth it. The wait staff was amazing. They were so sweet; making sure the meal was to our liking and constantly refilling our waters. I would've liked a little more meat but I won't hold it against them because I can never have enough meat. After the meal they gave us a few slices of oranges and a hot towel. I have never received that after a hot bowl of pho! This was awesome. It totally cleansed my palate and cooled me down; something very important for a hot summer night. It's worth a trip to Saigon Palace. The atmosphere is cozy, waitresses are nice and food is fresh and hot! Best Pho in Edgewater!

I would eat here every day if it wasn't so far away from where I live and work. The Pho is the best in the area, hands down. Of all the places in DC and NoVA, nothing even comes close to the flavor at Saigon Palace. Portions are very generous for the price, so it is an exceptional value; and the staff is very friendly and courteous. The ambiance of the restaurant might not be that impressive, but I always get my food to-go. This is my favorite restaurant in the Annapolis area-- and it isn't even in Annapolis!

Best pho in the greater Annapolis area. Generous servings at a great price, too. Their takeout service is excellent, which I find to be a rare quality! They always get the orders correct and don't skimp on sides or toppings. Restaurant is plain. The paintings are all quite different and kinda funny for that reason. You'll see :) Service is prompt.

Great place: no fancy atmosphere or high-brow servers- just good food! The spring and summer rolls are tasty and filling, abit on the dry side, but use the tasty sauce they provide to moisten them up. The Pho soups are the real McCoy with large servings, and I'm sure pretty healthy for you. There's a large variety of flavors you can choose from, so query the server the difference between them and decide accordingly. If you're looking more for a stir-fry, try the Shaky Beef- it's tenderness is to die for! I've never had bad service here- the waiters and waitresses have always been pleasant, patient, and are really on the ball without being stuffy. If you're looking for Vietnamese food in its prime with very reasonable prices, look no further than Saigon Palace!

Pho was amazing. Ordered the beef flank pho and lychee bubble tea for takeout. They packed the broth (cooked overnight!) separately from the add ons which is genius (no soggy noodles) and gave generous portions. The employees were very nice and gladly answered my questions. Bubbles tasted very fresh and soft. Highly recommend this family owned restaurant!

Second Helping This time I arrived at 5:30 to get ahead of the service problem. Awesome food the "shaky beef" often called shaken beef was soo good. I have never seem potatoes in this dish, I fished them out, but what was left was lovely. Pho #20 still good, light on the tripe but I expect most people won't complain.

Absolutely delicious! Some of the best Vietnamese food I've ever had. Summer rolls, green papaya salad, pho, and noodle dishes were out of this world. Service is quick, courteous, and professional. Decor is simple, but more than adequate and very clean. All at a very reasonable price. We will definitely go back to work our way through the menu. Highly recommend giving it a try.

So just looking at the reviews Mimi want to come here with my son after taking him to get a haircut I'm down the street we walking here it is the nicest cozies please and everyone looks so relaxed and quiet atmosphere we sit down and anything able to be like perfect because they have port your phone in so me and my son are charging while waiting for the waiter is nice he brings you out fresh clean water immediately and even though I haven't tasted the food yet the customer service alone is enough to make give the 5 stars!

I love going here. Best place to eat. My previous girlfriend and I loved the food. Service was always slow so we never came if we were in a hurry. But great food, great price, friendly personable atmosphere. Can't wait to go back.

A great vietnamese place, the best in the Annapolis area, and one of the best in Maryland. I recommend the appetizer sampler. It is a lot of food, but so worth it. I also think that the papaya salad is awesome. Sometimes they pit too many onions in, so I recommend telling them to hold the onions. But the sauce is perfection for it. I always order one of the rice vermicelli dishes. The combo is good. I always leave feeling stuffed and happy. Take your time to enjoy this wonderful place, it is worth it!

First time ordering from here, and what a treat! It was recommended by some friends and we were not disappointed. The woman who answered the phone to take our order was so polite, it was a very pleasant experience (I normally hate calling in orders). Pickup was easy, but most importantly, the food was fantastic! We ordered a few appetizers - spring & summer rolls - and they were very flavorful & perfectly cooked. I especially liked the complementing sauces. Not overpowering, just a pleasant addition. Entrees were vermicelli with beef, and the sweet & sour beef. Both were delicious & light. We will definitely go back again soon!

Coming from NOLA and Houston, I have to say this is definitely the best pho I've had here in the frozen northland.

  • Louisa E.

Spoiler alert: this place does not have vegan or vegetarian pho. I was hesitant to believe they did since it's not traditional and almost impossible to find outside of bigger cities but reviews for this place and the "vegetarian pho" listed on some of their menus made me check it out. All vegetation options come with tofu. I asked for veggies instead and they came extremely over cooked. The summer rolls we ordered were just rice, fried tofu and one piece of thai basil. Pretty bland. The server was very nice but with five full tables and lots of take out orders rolling in they needed a food runner and another server. Definitely looked like the majority of customers were ordering the special pho which seems to be recommended. Definitely think that you should stick to the meat items on menu and probably skip this place if you're a vegetarian. Hate to say it, but I won't be back.

After experiencing a bad employee several years ago and giving a bad review, have continued to eat at this restaurant, as it is the only Vietnamese restaurant nearby. Have consistently been served excellent food and okay service. Some times it is very crowded and only one waitress, so service is extremely slow. The food however has always been great. My husband generally has Pho, my favorite it the Saigon salad which has grilled beef, pork, shrimp, summer roll, noodles and lots of herbs and fresh vegetables. The dressing is fantastic as well. Will keep going back.

  • John P.

Always a solid performer in the Pho department, which is typically what I order when getting Vietnamese. I have been here about half a dozen times for soup and have always been impressed. Service has been on par with similar ethnic restaurants in the area, which is to say sometimes they are overwhelmed with a few servers and other times the dining room is quiet. With so few great ethnic options in the Annapolis area it's important to support them!

  • Bangali A.

First time when I came here after reading great reviews. Well they weren't lying. Their Pho is great and the broth is to die for. But other dishes are not too promising. Def not a place for children as my daughter did not like it. This is my second time and every-time I'm in the area, I come to this place.

  • Bernice R.

Very slow service! Have not been back in almost a year because of it. It's too bad because the food is good. There is only one person taking orders and bussing tables and you can tell she is a little burnt out from it. Whenever the guy is up front, he just looks like he is not having a nice day. We've given this place many tries in hopes the improved but we gave up and vowed to not go back. We go to the Panda Noodle House or even the mall when we crave fast pho in the area. When we crave really, really good pho, we travel to Life Pho in Pasadena or Man vs Pho in Catonsville...these places are amazing and you get your pho in 5-10 minutes, not 30 minutes or more at Saigon Palace!

  • laura m.

Love love the spring rolls , by far the best in the area! Ordered the beef pho to go. Delish. They send it home with you raw. You put it all together when u get where you are Going. Very very good.

got the sniffles so had to find some pho! Nice spot with big bowls of delicious broth, noodles, and meats-- liked the flank the best. We were there after a thunderstorm on a Monday evening, which could account for how empty it was, but no mind. Hope they get your business soon!

My hubby and I had all the attention on us as we were the only couple in the dining room. Ordered the BUN DAC BIET which had rice vermicelli noodles topped with succulent grilled chicken, beef, pork and my favorite ... CHA GIO. Fried Vietnamese egg rolls!!! The bean sprouts and shredded daikon radish freshen the comforting bowl of deliciousness! My hubby had the PHO TAI which he devoured. It's a decent broth. Would go back again if I wanted a quick place to head to for my pho fix!

I have been eating pho for over twenty years, and it is one of my favorite foods EVER. After moving from a place where great Vietnamese restaurants are scattered all over the city, I am glad to have found a decent fill for the void in my life! Saigon Palace's pho and vermicelli are the best I've had in MD. The service is ok, depending on who's working, but the good food definitely trumps that. Update: Be prepared to WAIT if they are busy. We went on a busy night (restaurant was half full) and waited over an hour for our food. They only had one person waiting tables. April 2015 update: Dropping a star... Pho portions have decreased! A small bowl of pho was not enough for my 4-year-old. Service was also subpar. It still tastes decent, but if Saigon Palace weren't so close to where I live, I'd probably rather have pho at mall!

First time here. Was excellent. Got the large #24. Im usually picky about my pho in new places but I recommend this place for pho. Will be coming back again.

All of your yelp reviews were making my mouth water! Had to get a bowl of pho ASAP! When our bowls of soup arrived I immediately noticed the sweet smell of anise and coriander coming from the broth, it was a beautiful thing. It was visually appealing as well, you could see the glistening, golden bubbles of fat around the noodles. The soup itself was delicious, but the meat was a tad chewy. It was just what I was looking for and I will defiantly be back. Oh, don't forget to ask for the side of sprouts, basil, limes and jalapeños if it doesn't come out with your pho. Our waiter forgot ours and I remind him.

First time eating here. Food was good. Summer rolls were very flavorful. They were more akin to northern vietnam but with the flavor of southern. The pho was really good although I found the soft tendon lacking in flavor. Also had their iced Vietnamese coffee and while normally I wouldn't even note it, it was the LARGEST glass of coffee I've encountered in the Washington Baltimore area. Will def visit again.

Unless you feel like taking a 45-60 min drive to Arlington, VA for the best Vietnamese restaurants in the DMV area, this one for the Annapolis area is pretty good. Food tastes fresh.

  • Angela S.

Amazing! The food is excellent. There are hundreds of delicious choices. Vegan, vegetarian, seafood, chicken, beef, pork....everything! The service is fast and friendly. The prices are great, too! Dinner for three adults was $34 last time. I always have leftovers for lunch the next day. I could eat here every day!!!

I've been to a lot of different Pho places around the NOVA area but this location is my favorite because of the slightly sweeter broth that I just love. The meat is almost always tender. The service can be a little lacking upon occasion... and the amount of meat they put in the pho is inconsistent. There have also been a few times where I'd pay for extra meat and didn't get it.

When you walk in, the nice dimmed lights set a comfortable setting for your meal. We were given our seats and menus and soon after we're asked if we were ready. Seemed a little to soon in my opinion so we asked for more time and didn't get another chance too order until 10-15 minutes later, seemed as though we were forgotten. Don't expect the speediest of all service, we had to wait another 15 minutes to get our food. I ordered the Pork rice platter and when I arrived I wasn't disappointed. Chopped pieces of pork lay on a bed of white rice sat beside shredded carrots and sliced tomatoes, it also comes with a side of fish sauce. The meat was cooked very well and was full of a sweet moist flavor. Would definitely come again! The Vietnamese. Milkshakes were just as good too!

One of my favorite places in the Annapolis area for pho. Flavorful broth, the veggie is good and packed with vegetables. I love going here on cold nights and filling up on pho. Their appetizers are not great though -- I've never been very impressed with their spring rolls and I think they are expensive for what you get. But it doesn't stop me for coming for the pho!

So good on a cold winter day. Hot pho with all the yummy bits. I love this place so much they know me by name. Try the vermicelli with pork if you like lovely grilled porky meat. We usually either get the Pho or the vermicelli so I have no idea what there curries or other foods are like. Must try someday

So after several days and dozens of blue crabs later, the wife and I have had our fill of crabs. We craved some hot noodle soup action. Looked on Yelp and found Saigon Palace. Sounds good. Jumped in the car on a rainy day and headed over to Saigon Palace. The place is in a small strip mall. Restaurant is small but clean. We ordered up a couple bowls of Pho Tai. They were HUGE bowls. Lots of broth and noodles. Yummy! We slurped and sucked the noodles down in record time. Buurrrpp!!! Yummy!

I've been eating pho since I was 9 years old. The staff is quiet but very polite and thank you for your for your business. The food was delicious and my girlfriend and I both think it rivals any larger restaurant.

I happened to be in that area once, and went to this place for a late lunch. The guy on duty didn't greet me because he was on the phone chatting, and pointed at a booth as directing me to a seat. So I waited for some time before he came over and took my drink and food order. The noodle soup was relatively salty comparing with all the noodle soups I had in other Vietnamese restaurants. When I was done, he just delivered the bill to me and didn't even say "Thank You". Later, maybe it was the lady owner, came from outside and grabbed my check and payment without saying anything. That was my quick lunch experience at this restaurant. I don't think I'll visit this place again.

The food is good, not awesome and the service is different. We have eaten at Saigon Palace twice now. We get the PHO. The the most important part of pho is the broth. Their broth is deep, rich and flavorful. The noodles are okay and standard. They are made ahead of time then warmed in the hot broth. The meats are tasty but sparse. More meat would be better. I ordered the beef pho and its pretty good. My wife likes the pho with all the meats. Hers has the tendon and tripe. She said it is pretty good. I will take her word for it because I don't care for tripe. My son gets the pho with chicken. The chicken was shredded breast meat and kind of dry although submerged in broth. The steamed dumplings were really good. They were obviously handmade. The place is never crowded and the service is not bad. Don't expect any small talk from the staff. They take your order, bring you things you need and will pack your food up for you to go. I went in by myself for a late lunch and I was the only customer. Normally I would sit at the bar, but I think they use it for a service station and office desk. It was very awkward. They had a random 80's movie on the television above the bar. They don't have bad service it is just not very inviting and awkward.

Went with my boyfriend and another couple. The women got pho and enjoyed it very much. The men got other things and one was ok, the other was horrible. My friend didn't even eat his dinner. The texture was gross. Good for pho, wouldn't get anything else there... not even the appetizers.

Consistently very good. Frequented by Vietnamese customers. Friendly and attentive but not annoying waitstaff. We go there once a month.

I had the Banh Xeo (Vietnamese panckake), Husband had Pho. I thought they both were very good. Shaking beef is also good. Liked the interior- nice and clean. Good service. Best Vietnamese in Annapolis if you can't make it to falls church va

  • Thomas J.

This place is excellent, and one of my favorite dining choices in the neighborhood. I can't say too much about the menu, because I really only order one item, pho. The Pho is excellent. Savory broth, thing noodles, excellent meatballs, and lovely thin slices of beef which are still pink when you first get the soup. I think you're likely going to have to go to 7 corners over in NoVa to find better Pho. The decor is blah, but you're there for the Pho, so you don't really care. Service is attentive and the prices are wonderful (pho and veggie rolls only put you back ~$14). It's worth the drive if you're in the central AA County area, and certainly worth making a regular stop if you live in Edgewater.

  • Regina S.

I hate to give them two stars, and maybe if I try them again, I will post an update and change my rating. My experience is based on two separate carryout orders, so decor and service really didn't come into play here. From phone in to pick up, it was only 10 minutes. Granted it was around 5:00 PM on both occasions during midweek. On the first visit, the picks were Shaky beef (a chef recommended dish) and a combo pad Thai with chicken, beef and shrimp. This meal was good, and the leftovers the next day even better. The beef cubes were super tender, all the veggies were fresh, the flavorful marinade had some depth and the lime dipping sauce added just the right amount of acid. The only thing I did not like and did not get, was the addition of potato cubes. They certainly didn't add anything, and they seemed out of place considering this was served with rice. Carb overkill. The pad Thai was good, not too sweet, and all the protein was tender and well prepared. Surprisingly, this tasted much better the next day. So I was quite happy, as I'm not a big fan of Thai, so I thought, finally, I have a place that I can get a healthy takeout meal, when cooking is the last thing on my mind. The second visit to Saigon, I ordered the sauteed broccoli and chicken and the grilled pork vermicelli. The description for the last dish was as follows "Flame-grilled cuts of pork served on a bed of thin rice vermicelli noodles, shredded lettuce, bean sprouts, cucumbers, shredded carrots, daikon radish, finished with a pinch of green onions and crushed peanuts, accompanied by our citrus infused fish sauce." I mean yeah, to me that sounded pretty darn good. The minute I got home and opened the Styrofoam box (wish they use plastic), I had a feeling I was going to be disappointed. The flame grilled pork was beyond flamed it was darn near incinerated. The veggies looked good and fresh (although no radish in sight) but the pork jerky actually hurt going down my throat. Don't ask me why I even bothered. The chicken and broccoli was noted to be in a subtly sweet and salty brown sauce. Oh no it wasn't. It was a very pale liquid probably thickened with a touch of corn starch and it had absolutely no flavor. The white thin breast meat pieces as a result had no flavor either as they were not marinated in anything and the broccoli was just too hard. I fished out the chicken, put it in my dog's bowl, and the rest went into the garbage. I probably should have picked out some veggies to feed the bunnies that run around our yard but I was so turned off, I just wanted to be rid of the stuff. So I went from OK, this is pretty good stuff to how dare someone serve this. I know their Pho is supposed to be quite delicious, but I just wasn't yearning a hot bowl of noodle soup. I will have to simmer down before I give this place another shot.

We had pho and bun bo. They were both ok. It took forever for the food to come out and there was only one other family in the restaurant. And not really a lot of people coming in for takeout. I don't believe that I'm a picky eater so I can't believe the great reviews. I mean it wasn't horrible but it wasn't 4-5 stars. In the pictures the restaurant must have been new bc the place is not that neat and clean now. It wasn't gross by any means but could have been a little neater. The service was ok. We most likely will not go back.

Excellent Pho! Some of the freshest broth and ingredients. Even the super chewie stuff looked fresh! I'm all about the House Special when it comes to Pho and I was very impressed with theirs. I'm also impressed with the fact that there is a noticeable size difference between the small and the large. There are some Pho places where they look the same which makes me wonder about the price difference. It's about $7-$8 for a small. And the small is plenty! The dessert menu is a bit weak, but that's not what you come here for! The only have Fruit Shakes and ice cream. But still, not bad. Love it! A great Pho place near Annapolis! It's not very far from Adam's ribs and Yellowfin in Edgewater.

Great local vietnamese restaurant. Pho is consistently good, vermicelli dishes are totally serviceable, and the other entrees are solid. The interior is mildly rundown but clean and the service is relaxed: this creates a chill atmosphere that's pleasant. It's a good local restaurant with solid food.

This is my place to eat pho. The best Pho in MD, VA, and DC area. Mostly everything here are good. I would recommend this restaurant.

The service is good, but it's a bit more relaxed. I love the atmosphere there. Everything is always clean. The food is also really clean and rich. I've been to a lot of pho restaurants in the area and this is my favorite. The pho broth is flavorful, not too salty or seems like it has a lot of MSG. The sprouts and basil is always fresh. Food is consistent and good every time. Whenever i'm in the area, I try to eat here.

I wish I ate here more often. I have only been a couple times as my wife is not a fan of vietnamese food. Good service, crappy decor like most asian restaurants. The beer is good and the food comes fast. I highly suggest the squid salad. The pho is also very good if you are into that sort of thing.

Having just moved from Los Angeles to small town usa, i was very relieved to find this place. Good tasty pho noodles! Went with my folks and my dad had a very spicy noodle dish and I had the chicken broth based pho. Atmosphere is ok, nothing special. Service was good but the standout was the food as it should be. Hope it will stay around.

Food is so good here. Everyything is so fresh and flavorful. I highly recommend this place....they do expect a tip on carryout though and will make you feel uncomfortable if you don't.

It's hard for me to review Vietnamese restaurants because I come from a family of excellent Vietnamese cooks. I would've given this place 4 stars but I had to take away a star for service. When my friend and I arrived at the restaurant there were only two other tables filled and we were seated quickly. We were given our menus and waters and had our orders taken.. there was one waitress for the entire restaurant. It wouldn't have been bad but about half an hour into us being there about four or five other tables came in. The waitress was really nice though. Anyhow. Service wasn't extremely slow but it wasn't extremely timely at the same time. Our appetizers came out. My friend ordered steamed dumplings which she said were pretty good. I ordered the appetizer portion of the bo nuong which is basically two skewers of grilled beef strips. The beef was just okay. It wasn't exactly memorable. It wasn't really grilled the way I normally expect the bo nuong to be grilled. I'm not sure how to best explain it. The sauce that accompanied the beef tasted like it came straight out of the jar from the local Asian grocery store. After the appetizers came the pho! however, when the random guy brought out the bowls of pho for us, he left the finished appetizer plates on the table... I don't know why he didn't or couldn't take the dirty plates away.. isn't that what you typically do at restaurants? Well.. We both ordered two small pho tai. The small was plenty big enough for each of us. Now.. no one can make a better pho than my mom.. but this is probably one of the better pho bowls that I've had outside of Virginia, where you can find plenty of wonderful Vietnamese restaurants. The broth was pretty good. The noodles were cooked just right. I didn't quite like the cuts of beef they served. That was probably the low point of the pho. We both finished the meal quite stuffed.. and my bill came out to just under $13! Which is incredible at least for me... All in all.. the food was decent.. the service could've been better.. the prices were just fine. If I'm ever craving pho and I can't get back home to moms on the weekend.. I'd come here.

The food is good. I always go their for pho. I have tried the summer rolls, vermicelli noodle bowl and the papaya salad. They were great. Do try the papaya salad, it's not what you think it is. It's julieen sliced vegetables, basil w/light dressing and shrimp. Great to share as an appetizer.

As good as it gets here in Annapolis... Nothing compares to CA or my mom's but it's one of the better places here. When I'm in Annapolis and I'm craving pho, this is the place I go. The staff is nice, they leave us be, which I like. The summer rolls are good and the thai ice tea is good too.

Sometimes I feel like I'm Christopher Walken in that scene from Deer Hunter when I eat here. Great food, no doubt about that. But am the only person who gets treated poorly by the wait staff? The old lady always greets me with "Sit down!" and points to a table. Today my son picked out a lollipop and said thank you to our waiter and she just ignored him. There is an extremely nice young waiter that works here, I hope you get her. "DI DI MAU"

My parents & I go here at least once a week. Some of the most savory Pho I have ever had and I've had a lot of Pho in my 23 years. The Shaky Beef is also a favorite. For appetizer, I always, always, always will recommend the chai gio (crispy spring roll). Again, some of the best chai gio I have ever had. It is so light but still awesomely crispy. Some chai gio is very dense. The girls are also so friendly, especially if you become regulars. (They always remember my Dad's usual.) In other words, go here for awesome Vietnamese food. I think they do a very good take-out business and during the week they are not very crowded but if you go on a Friday/Saturday they seem to get a little busy.

I absolutely LOVE pho, and even enjoy eating it in summer months. I just LOVE all the fresh herbs. The Pho here was ok, like everyone has commented, the place is dark, very limited decorations, pho was ok, nothing spectacular. If I was in the area and I was craving some pho, I would go back, but its definitely not a place I would go out of my way for.

I was thrilled to discover someplace offering pho near Annapolis. The pho is really very good, and the appetizers are a nice counterpoint. I'll be back! For new pho eaters try the smaller serving.

I love the pho here. I'm also a fan of the spring rolls, summer rolls and calamari appetizers. I don't go there much in the summer, but I'm looking forward to some steaming pho once the weather gets cooler! Service can be a bit weird sometimes, I've been there an hour before closing and we were told to hurry up and eat. Come for the food!

I'm still confused as to why this restaurant came up when I searched Thai in the Edgewater area. I went in under the impression that it was a Thai restaurant and once I got in and looked at the menu I realized it wasn't. There wasn't one Thai dish on the menu although a previous review mentions Pad Thai (wonder where that was?) When I went back and looked on Yelp I saw that it's clearly listed a Vietnamese. Not wanting to be rude and leave, I stayed. The shrimp tempura was very bland and just seemed to be regular fried shrimp versus authentic shrimp tempura. I got the beef with broccoli over rice and it too was bland. Had way more vegetables than meat and when the sauce cooled it had the consistency of mucus and was not appetizing at all. All of the good reviews for this place mentioned Pho which must be the the thing to get here if you want to have a tasty meal. If I go back maybe I will try the Pho.

I eat here at least once a week. Sometimes take out and sometimes I eat in. Great food and amazing service. Best Vietnamese I've had since leaving the San Francisco Bay Area.

Saigon Palace is a reliable stand-out in the area. I have never had a bad meal here and usually have a great meal, whether dining in or for carry-out. Like others, I was surprised to see this place open up in Edgewater and even more surprised to see it remain open in a location that has not been so kind to other eateries that opened in this, slightly out of the way strip mall (compared to other places in town). Eating in is where Saigon Palace really shines. The service is always very attentive and friendly. One of their waitresses has been there for years now, possibly since opening?, and always remembers us when we come in, even if just to run in and grab a carry-out order. Your glass will never go empty here and the service is prompt and unobtrusive. I have to disagree with a reviewer suggesting that the decor should be darker and pumped full of music, as this is is a restaurant only and not a bar. Personally I do not like eating in a dark room and prefer to be able to see the beautiful food that these wonderful folks are setting before me and my lovely wife across the table. Music in restaurants is almost never at the right volume and simply gets in the way when poorly executed. I'll take Saigon Palace just like it is. The oranges are a great palette cleanser at the end of the meal and are always ripe and chilled perfectly. The hot towels are a nice way to clean yourself up after handling the various components of your meal and get your paws good and clean before getting in your car. The smell of industrial dish detergent can be a bit strong on them if they have come straight out of the dishwasher (yes, that is that smell and no, they aren't contaminated that is some powerful stuff) but, a little airing out and it actually invigorates and refreshes nicely after sitting down to a wonderful spicy dish. So, what about all this beautiful food? Well, despite my admitted skepticism on my first visit (I mean c'mon Vietnamese in Edgewater?!?), I was pleasantly blown away on my first visit and have been so on every occasion that I eat here. The food is dead-on consistent and consistently very good. My wife started out on the Mixed Veggie Sautee w/chicken (#42) and was very happy until..... she tasted the Shaky Beef(#48). This is a real standout and is not spicy at all for those that do not care for it but still want a great meal. My personal favorites include: Clay Caramel Fish(#50), Lemongrass Beef(#44), and of course the house Pho. I prefer the Saigon Palace Special Pho(#20) with all the goodies simmered perfectly in their delicious broth. Carry-out is also very consistent here and never disappoints. The only gripe, and it is minor, is that on a busy Friday or Saturday night, you may have to call a few times before someone answers the phone and you may have to wait a few minutes(up to 5) beyond your supposed pick-up time. I can live with these idiosyncrasies for Vietnamese food this good in such an unexpected place and so close to home.

Coming from Northern Virginia where vietnamese restaurants are a plenty we were so happy to find one here in Edgewater. The pho is as good as that in NOVA and their other dishes including papaya salad (when available) are fantastic. We hope they manage to stay around.

Edgewater sure has changed since 2001 when I moved there. Back in 2k1 there were only 2 Chinese restaurants anywhere nearby; one a buffet, and one that was just awful (sorry a Chinese restaurant with a sushi bar just won't cut it with me). Now the ethnic diversity is amazing and most of them standouts to boot. Thai, Japanese, El Salvadoran, and Italian places have popped up since then. And not too long ago Vietnamese was added to the list. I've never been to Vietnam - but I do know their cuisine well - some of the best places I've been were in Austin TX where I got introduced to actually good PHO soups. Saigon Palace not only does great PHO but EVERYTHING I've had there has been fabulous. Attention to detail and freshness of ingredients are notable despite what would appear to be low volumes of business. Ever since they opened I was wondering if they'd survive - so far they have. They're kind of a good sleeper; the store is tucked into a small strip mall off Mayo Road between a Papa John's Pizza carry out and ABC Plumbing. Today's visit was for Viet style spring rolls (fresh not fried), and a big bowl of c bit - Special Combination Pho. This is a tricky item for carry out considering the number of components. In my bag were 2 nice large spring rolls (Saigon actually calls these 'Summer Rolls') packed with thinly sliced shrimp, rice noodles, carrot, spring onions, and mint wrapped in rice paper and served with a slightly spicy and chunky peanut dipping sauce. These were also wrapped in plastic to prevent drying out during travel. I adore these things and they were fresh and fantastic. The PHO noodle 'kit' was equally methodical in its presentation and content. Fresh chopped cilantro thinly sliced white onions, chopped green onion tops, sliced jalapenos, mung bean sprouts, 2 nice stalks of very fresh Thai basil, and a healthy portion of rice stick rice noodles. The meats in the combination are slices of well done beef filet, tendon, raw flank, and tripe; all very fresh and perfect and the raw steak is wrapped in plastic for what I'd imagine are cross-contamination reasons. Then the star of the PHO show is of course the broth. A quick sniff and you know it's authentic as you can detect star-anise, charred onions, and beefy oxtail. I've had some bad PHO and the worst of them are always because of lousy beef broth. Saigon includes a nice sauce (sauce with soup? Yup you bet), which is Siracha hot sauce and some hoi sin with a little palm sugar (VERY authentic!). With all these 'pieces' I'd probably charge extra for PHO to go - but they don't! I've had about a dozen PHOs from Saigon Palace and each one was exactly the same in quality and freshness. The only 'gripe' I have is I prefer the more authentic broad rice noodles over the thin rice stick (vermicelli style) noodles. The shops in Austin use those kind of noodles - you might be able to request it - I haven't tried that hmmm. Other dishes of note that I've had here are the Kung Pao Scallops (which is NOTHING like what you would think it is - just try it and see for yourself), and the squid salad. Another interesting thing is their drink menu - many of them made to order. Sô a sa ht gà. Soda, beaten egg & condensed milk. Sô a chanh mui. Soda with preserved lemon. Cà-phê phim. Hot filtered coffee, french style (you DO know Vietnamese food has many french influences right???), and my personal favorite Sinh t b; Avocado milk shake. Yup Avocado milk shake - sounds bizarre but man is it fantastic and great with any really spicy choices you make. Saigon has the standard rice-vermicelli dishes with grilled meat options which are also very good. Check their website for the menu - their website doesn't get a lot of updating unfortunately - they have amazing daily specials that you can only find out about by calling (good luck with understanding anyone there clearly unless you speak Vietnamese) or dropping by. Their website purports to have the daily specials but it looks like their webmaster quit half way through the job. Service is humbly friendly and efficient at Saigon Palace and the prices are quite reasonable ($7.95 for a huge PHO soup, $3.95 for 2 big summer rolls.) All dishes come with a considerable number of interesting sauces or fresh garnishes (signature of good Vietnamese food). I hope they stay afloat especially in today's economy - if you'd asked me if a Vietnamese restaurant would survive in the mostly redneckish Edgewater MD area 5 years ago I'd have called you insane. Being a sophisticated redneck myself, I know I'll keep patronizing this place as long as they're there!
