This new addition to the neighborhood is wildly disappointing. No free chips/salsa at a Mexican style restaurant? We opted for chips and guacamole for a whopping $8 and they came out with the smallest container of guacamole ever. The bottom of the little ramekin was filled with shredded lettuce or something to give the illusion that there was more guac, but you can't fool me! Ha! The sangria is what I could only assume was leftover red wine mixed with some OJ or pineapple juice. No fruit mixed in. Didn't taste very good. Fish tacos were scarce on the fish and they are $15, so this was sad. The rice was okay but the beans tasted like cigarettes. Giant Texas Burrito did not look good and according to my date, was something he could have made himself. Hint: he makes frozen burritos from a wrapper. The place was packed but I bet you a couple of pesos it won't be come October.

This place was pretty disappointing. $4 for chips and salsa. This is appalling. Especially from a place that is new to the neighborhood. Stop it. It set a bad tone for the meal. I was also disappointed by being sat in the booth that looked directly into the kitchen and the server station. Further servers were lingering around the server station - they should be moving around the floor taking care of customers. As for the food - it was meh - when I could finally eat it. The food came to the table rocket hot. Not an appropriate hot temperature, but so hot that I could not eat the food. I understand the "be careful this plate is hot" warning, but serving food that I have to sit and look at until it get cool enough to eat is nearly as bad as serving cold food. My Chesapeake Enchillada, was acceptable, albeit a bit thin on the seafood and the tomato was a bit chunky. The rice was very nice - I wish I had asked to have that replace the beans (I am sure the beans were fine, I just don't like beans). The salsa with the $4 chips was very nice, flavorful and has a pleasing consistency. It wasn't worth $4 but at least it was nice. If the food was spectacular, I'd tolerate the service problems and poor execution, but frankly there are better places to eat in the area (even for Mexican) so unless there's dramatic improvement in this place, I won't return and I'd encourage you not to either.

What a dissappointment. We were so excited to think that a quality restaurant had truly replaced the last bad restaurant. First off, any Mexican restaurant that charges for chips and salsa is not off to a good start. Chips do not taste like they are homemade and potion of quac was tiny, Had the faijtas. The porttion is ridiculous for the price. Tiny. I truly have never seen sucha a small portion of steak and onions for the price that they charge. This restaurant charges DC prices for a reataurant in Edgewater, Md. Lots of service people running around - the owner is there - this place is just not a good value at all. She needs to rethink her menu. We are sophisticated diners and think it is lacking.

So Broadneck replaced some other Tex Mex place that we had never gone to, so I'm not sure how much the atmosphere and decor had changed during this transition. The bar and the seating within the lounge area constituted more than half of the restaurant. The hard floors and the wooden tables and chairs were a good indication that this place could get loud when busy and it was. Our server was nice and timely but not very knowledgeable. I asked him some basic questions about the menu and the responses never quite gave me the answers. No free chips and salsa here, but for a modest $3.50 you could enjoy this ubiquitous snack. The menu had the usual suspects: Quesadillas, burritos, tacos, enchiladas, nachos, fajitas, chile rellenos, and even chimichangas. Now the last time I had one of those, was back in the day when the CHI CHI's restaurant chain ruled the Tex Mex market (I know how this dates me). Being poor college kids, their happy hour was super cheap and filling, a must for any starving student. Since this dish carried so much nostalgia, it was a must that I order one. (for those not familiar with this preparation, it simply involves deep frying a burrito so it has a crazy crunchy exterior with a soft and cheesy meaty filling. I opted for the Texas Chimi which was filled with "zesty ground beef, chicken, black beans and topped with their chile con queso". The latter was described as being a blend of cheeses, chiles, beer and spices. On paper, this sounded like one crazy good indulgence. Dining companion ordered the chicken fajitas. We didn't want to order any apps even though we qualified for happy hour prices on snacks since we were sitting at one of the high tops in the lounge. We opted to drink our starters instead and settled for some house margaritas on the rocks. They weren't bad. Nothing special here but at least there was a good balance of sweet and sour. I don't care where you are at, fajitas always come out on a sizzling pan, that makes everyone seated around you glance in your direction. This dish came out with a whimper. Gee, what could that be indicative of? It wasn't hot!!! There was a generous serving of nice vegetables and chicken, but after a first bite, disappointment kicked in - luke warm, dry flavorless poultry, and under seasoned peppers and onions. At least the sour cream and tiny serving of guac helped to lubricate the dish, but it just couldn't be saved in the end. It didn't help that they never provided a separate plate on which to eat this dinner and when we asked for one (with time a ticking and dish getting colder) that they provided a small salad plate. My chimi was cry worthy...in a bad way. There was not one crunchy bite on this behemoth of a roll. The flour tortilla was as soft as a baby's bottom and the queso with all of it's promised complex flavors tasted just like melted velveeta. Muy decepcionado. Just going to have to keep returning to our favorite restaurant when we crave Mexican and Spanish food - a place that NEVER disappoints: Jalapenos!

We have been meaning to try this place as we pretty much try every joint with happy hour in the area, and we love Mexican food. First and last trip for us. Tried the Mexican Pizza, queso, chicken tacos and beef tacos. We both agreed without question, this was the worst food we have had in Edgewater. The pinkish queso has an off texture and almost has no taste. We ate three chips and couldn't do any more. The soft tacos came out swimming in about a 1/4 inch of juice/water and they had less flavor that the flavorless queso. one of the chicken tacos had less than a spoon full of chicken in the entire taco. We gave two of them back and they were kind enough to take them off of the bill. Friendly people, but who ever is making the food needs to find a new passion. Sorry, we will not return.

It's not that great. The interior is nice and I don't know about the bar or drink specials but as far as food it was quite poor. Everything tasted "fresh from the freezer." They brought out chips and salsa AND a loaf of bread and butter (much like outback does), odd combo. Anyhow, we tried it because it was new place. But we will stick with Plazuelas.

Atmosphere was nice, as was our server, however the food was pricey, appetizer was very small and out of a table of 6 only 1 person enjoyed their meal. Never been to a Mexican restaurant where you don't get chips and salsa for free right as you are seated either!! Very disappointing as we were hoping this would be our new " go to " for Mexican food, but we will not be back.

Went to dinner a couple of nights ago. Yes, it was noisy, but, we thought the food was quite good, the Margarita was delicious, and our waitress, Mia, was very friendly, cheerful and helpful. We spent lots of years , living in Texas, and this reminded us of the TexMex we left behind. Give them a little time to get the restaurant running smoothly? We will be back.

My wife and I went for happy hour. We came in and there were a few people there, already. Three women and a child sat to our left near the window closest to Central Ave. We sat at a high top near the bar. There were two other guys at the bar. It took about 5 minutes before some greeted us at our table, which isn't a long time but the place was virtually empty. It took about 10 minutes before we got our first drink. We ordered an app with our first drink. It came out at the same time as the drinks did. This was the highlight of our visit. At this point we were content. Then it got uncomfortable. The two guys at the bar became loud and belligerent towards one another. They were basically yelling back and forth to one another and cursing a lot. The manager stood at the other end of the bar and said nothing. The bartender continued to serve them shots instead of asking them to calm down and/or stop swearing. This went on for about 30 minutes. We asked for our check and left. Not the type of place I wanna enjoy myself. There was no sense of community or respect for other guests during our first and probably last visit. That is all. You can decide for yourself. Thank you and goodnight.

Let me preface that the staff was extremely friendly and attempted to please the customers, but... It was definitely a toss up between one star and two. The only reason for the second star is because I would come here again if nothing was open. The food was almost good but everything we got was missing something. There was barely anyone here and it took a half hour to get food. Basically food isn't bad but not memorable. We arrived for bottomless mimosas and Bloody Mary special. The bartender was late for work by over an hour. Other staff members tried very hard to make our Bloody Mary's. They even went out of their way to ask us how we like them. This caused it to take a very long time to receive our drinks. We ordered a second drink just to get the value of the offer.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
