Needed potato salad for a cook out (25 people). Tried all the grocery stores in the area and none made it fresh in house - all were tasteless. Called here based on yelp reviews of other items. Turns out they make it fresh and it was fantastic - people raved about my "homemade" potato salad.

Steak & cheese sub carry-out. Fresh roll with lots of steak & provolone cheese. Lettuce, tomato & onion decent. Worth another visit.

I wanted a Reuben - but a really good Reuben, way beyond anything I thought I might find without hiking downtown or to Pikesville. I was delighted to see NY Deli just up the street from me; even more delighted to walk in a half hour before closing to be warmly welcomed and to find the lady behind the counter wrapping a fresh corned beef brisket (to be cooked in the morning, she told me) I got my Reuben, and it was really good. Lean corned beef, great marble rye, good swiss, kraut was just right, enough dressing to pull things together, but not so much that it overwhelmed the rest of the sandwich. I ordererd a take home treat for hubby - cream of crab soup, which was good as well. There's a nice selection of menu items - if the rest are as good as the Reuben, I'll be a regular.

This place is awesome. When I got back to the States last year for the first time in 3 years, this was one of the first places I bumped into. Very friendly staff and awesome sandwiches.

One sandwich doesn't make for a comprehensive review, but one sandwich has made me a fan of the the New York Deli in Columbia. The New York Deli opened last year on Snowden River Parkway, and I discovered last week that they're making their own corned beef on site. Harold's in Edison, NJ ruined most corned beef for me because its spectacular meat make most commercial beef taste like cardboard. The New York Deli isn't Harold's, but it's hot corned beef sandwich plays in a similar league. Go hot sandwich with the soft marbled rye. You'll get a full sandwich with thin-sliced corned beef. Lean corned beef, but with a meaty flavor and the brittle texture separates corned beef made by experts from those made by industry. The rye bread is soft and thick. Not my normal preference, which only reinforced the quality because I thought it really improved the sandwich. Good mustard. Good pickle. Overall, it's my favorite straight deli sandwich tn Howard County. (I have eaten many sandwiches that never reached the blog because there is no fun in smacking down a place for serving average food.) I loved the New York Deli atmosphere. Because it's on the south-bound side of Snowden, I stopped there knowing that I wanted to visit Pars Market before going home to eat. I told the woman at the counter that I wanted a hot sandwich, but I had to do an errand before I ate. She said told me to change my plans. No sugar coating. No prevarication. She said I was going to love the hot sandwich so I should endure some U-turns on Snowden and get the sandwich right before I went home. So New York attitude. So right on the money. Next time, I'm going for the rueben, although I'll eat it there. You can't even wait 10 minutes when the sandwich is hot, filled with sauerkraut and greased with Russian dressing.

The Reuben is my favorite sandwich of all time. I just love corned beef in general. The hubby and I were feeling too lazy from the heat to make lunch so stopped here for a quick sandwich. The corned beef alone was worth it. It was lean, obviously fresh, not too salty, moist, full of flavor and the best I've had in the area. They cut their rye bread very thick. It works well. It wasn't soggy and smothered in oil or butter like some places. It was perfectly crispy from being grilled and had a really nice texture and flavor. The swiss was great quality and the 1000 island dressing was the perfect amount. I was a very happy girl. My husband was very impressed too. So, why not five stars? They have very limited sides and sell out fast (at least you know they're probably made in house), they have chips and a few little baked goods, but they don't stock them very well. This used to be a small asian market/grocery store and they kept the line of refridgerators along the back wall and keep them full of bottles drinks. If you get a fountain soda its served in a styrofoam cup. Other then bottled or tap water, no filtered water from the soda machine. They are 'proud' to served hershey's icecream, but I took a peak and it looked old (freezer burn). Just order your reuben, grab a seat, and wait for one amazingly delicious bite of corned beef. Enjoy.

This place is kinda money ... kinda surprised no one else has reviewed it yet. I had the brisket sandwich with some deviled eggs and both were waay above average. I'm gonna try it out again in the next few weeks and see what is good ... although the fact the lady at the counter said phili steak and cheese was her next favorite over corned beef, tuna or egg salad is a bit of a scare ...

I started working in Columbia last Nov and have been trying to find good and cheap places to eat. Came across this on yelp and decided to give it a try a couple weeks ago. I am glad I did that. I ordered Proscuitto sub and absolutely loved it!! I went back a few days later and ordered the same thing for lunch and they actually gave me even more proscuitto. This is definitely one of the best places for lunch. Good quality of food, fast service and cheap prices!!

When I'm home in Columbia, this is the place I go for a hot, cheesy sandwich. Everyone loves the Reubens here - including me - and their other sandwiches (Rachel, mushroom steak) are also tasty. Plenty of meat and toppings and high quality bread make this place stand out! If you've been to Zingerman's Deli in Ann Arbor, just know that NY Deli is the best place in Columbia to attempt to cure your sandwich cravings.

This review is based off of their Reuben. It sounds simple: Corned beef, sauerkraut, Thousand Island, toasted Rye Bread, I forgot the rest lol. But man, when I got the sandwich with a side of fries, I almost cried because this was the best Reuben out of all the other delis I went to in Howard County. Really. The toppings can come from anywhere including the bread and meat, but the way they executed in making the food, was done perfectly. I don't know how they prepared the foods nor do I care because it was AMAZING. Every bite was balanced in flavors and texture. Every bite had a little bit of everything in it. Every bite was sublime. I usually eat pretty fast and when things are delicious? Even faster! But this time, I took my time. It took me an extra 2 minutes to finish the sandwich. :P The Toasted Rye Bread was actually TOASTED, not like many of the other places selling Reubens. The bread also had butter or oil or both or whatever on it which made the texture slightly different. It was delicious. Service was pretty good and the fries weren't bad. They actually season the fries. That's rare lol. 5 stars!

Not yet sure about this place. First visit was for breakfast; ordered the hash and eggs. Good-sized portion, eggs cooked perfectly OE, but the hash was too salty and had no crust. Not great, but not awful. Service was friendly and attentive. Next visit was carry out lunch. The reuben sandwich had great corned beef, very lean and tender. I'd order that one again. The Angus beef burger...not so much. I expected a thick juicy burger, but got two thin dry patties overlapped to fit the large bun. Could have used more seasoning, too. The biggest disappointment was the fries. The menu described them as "fresh cut skin on Beach fries", but I got frozen fried crinkle-cuts, again with no seasoning. Look at some of the photos; same thing. This deli has a lot of potential. Just step it up with some fresh consistency. Thanks.

I called them ahead to place Mushroom Cheese Steak Sub to go! The lady over the phone estimated that it is going to be ready in 10 minutes, When I got there after 10 minutes my Sub was ready! The people working there are very friendly and helpful! The Cheese Steak sub I ordered was very warm and fresh and had so much meat in it I felt like I ordered with extra extra meat in my sub! One of the most delicious Cheese Steak I have ever eaten in long time! You should try it also! You will love it!

The place is a little run-down, but they made me a solid turkey sandwich on rye. They have a large beverage selection, I was happy to find out that they have Bai. The people there were nice and I have no complaints about service. I don't like that there isn't a comprehensive menu displayed other than the chalk board, but I'd like to try some of their hot sandwiches.

A solid, if unassuming choice for breakfast and lunch in the area. The breakfast sandwiches are filling and are a good start of the day or to drown that hangover. The pastrami reuben is a good option for lunch; generous sauerkraut on nice chewy flavorful pastrami. I do think they need to toast the marbled rye more for takeout. When you do take out, the bread gets a bit soggy from all the moisture buildup in the container. The crab soups (md and creamy style) are my favorite picks too. The cream of crab is rich, creamy and has good chunks of crab meat. I have not has any issues with the preparation times. I've been in and out of the place in about 15min after placing my orders. The prices are reasonable and the food is tasty. Definitely made it to my lunch rotation.

I had a doctor's appointment around her. I was hungry for lunch and found this place. I will have to say their Ruben made custom to my liking was delicious and I wish they were closer but that is what happens when traveling and finding a kickass local owned restaurant. Nice staff and service. I watched a movie on my phone with a headset and every bit I would laugh (I was the only patron there) and they didn't mind.

I had their corn beef sandwich...very good. I stay in the city sometimes and I usually get my fix at Mary Mervis lexington market but I decided to try theirs and what a hit! I got delivery. My fixings were mustard rye bread and swiss

Went here to get a sandwich during my lunch break. Had to repeat my order twice to the lady who rang me up. Waited over a half an hour for a simple steak sandwich. Upon receiving my sandwich and getting back to the office, I discovered they'd given me someone else's food. They wasted my time and my money, I will never go back.

Several weeks ago, my wife and I tried to eat her after church on a Sunday. No luck. They're not open on Sunday. This morning we dropped by before food shopping. I can only say that I don't know what all the fuss is. First, the place obviously caters to people coming by during work, because there was not a child seat to be found. (Yes, I know that is not a negative for most people, but I am the father of a 17 month old boy.) With only two people working it was slow getting our order in. I guess I can understand that, since I don't think that Saturday breakfast is their prime time. What I couldn't understand is that they charge extra for cheese on their egg sandwiches! I really see no reason for that. However, the sandwiches were well worth it. My sausage, egg, and cheese was possibly the best I've ever had. However, with every good, there is a bad. One of my son's blueberry pancakes was still liquid in the middle. Honestly, I can not understand how that can happen. In all, the food was good. The staff was very nice. It was fine, but not all that some people make it out to be.

Another good restaurant in the Columbia area for sandwiches. New York Deli, upon one observation, gets a lot of business. I went during lunch time (noon time), and people were swarming right on in. I ordered the BBQ Cheesesteak sub, which came at a decent price ($6.25 I believe). Was the BBQ Cheesesteak sub delightful? Well, did Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers? Everything is better with BBQ sauce (in my own crazy mind that is). The sub was smothered with not too much BBQ sauce, and the meat itself resembled that of how a sub should be, not a steak-umm replica. Oh, and the staff was pleasant, even with the lunch rush coming in. The shopping center that this restaurant is located in has very limited spaces for parking, be forewarned. I'll be back with another review next week, even if I'm caught in the rapture. Anita Baker.

This is strictly a lunch review. I came here to try their burgers and steak and cheese. It looked very delicious once i received it. But when it comes to taste, it is nothing special at all. Burger is tasteless and doesn't even come with fries. Definitely not worth $7 at all. Steak and cheese is the same way, tasteless, bland, and boring. I would have been happier getting a cheeseburger from McDonalds! Don't plan on eating lunch here again.

This review is for breakfast only. Yes NY Deli is cheap but no, it is not very good. $5.70 got me a plastic disposable plate (like a paper plate but made of plastic) full of eggs, potatoes, sausage, and rye toast. The eggs and toast were good enough, but ... The potatoes were not crispy and thus amounted to a huge pile of mush. The sausage was close to inedible, very poor quality meat. So - lots of everything, and cheap, but not good, and you have to eat it on plastic with plastic. I won't be going back.

This is definitely one of the best places for lunch. Good quality of food, fast service and cheap prices!!
