The sheek kabab was delicious and full of subtle flavor. Even the white rice had hints of cinnamon. The mango lassi was a little thin, but tasted good. Large portions at a modest price.

We came in a few months back to try this place out. I can only comment on the two dishes we ordered. My boyfriend ordered a beef kabob. It was very tough and a lot of it was inedible. And he isn't a picky eater, but we were expecting better. For my food, I asked the front desk guy for recommendations, because I wanted to try something new. He offered no suggestions, and just said it depended on what I like. He seemed more interested chatting with some friends than to be professional and talk to me about the food there. I asked him for his opinion on the curry chicken and to describe it to me. I felt like I was pulling teeth trying to get the guy to describe some of the dishes to me. All he said was it was good and he failed to mention is was VERY spicy. I like spicy but not over the top. Now, maybe anyone familiar with this type of food knows curry is spicy, but hey, I'm born and raised in Maryland and have only eating Afghani and Indian food a handful of times. He really should of told me! But then again, he wasn't very professional or good at selling me the dishes. He did have a nice smile and was nice, though. Because of all the good reviews here on Yelp, maybe I will have to try the food again sometime. I do really enjoy maiwand kabob in Columbia, but this place is much closer to us.

Another update for Kabob Hut! They're going back up to their original 3 stars! My mom and I wanted to go for Thai on Memorial Day but the place was closed, so out of hunger and my desire for ethnic food, we ended up here. Much to my surprise they've painted and cleaned!! It looks MUCH better in here! I would have liked to upgrade them to four stars, but unfortunately the service hasn't changed. I haven't been in months, so I didn't recognize the girl at the counter, but she looked as if Kabob Hut was the last place she wanted to be on the face of the earth. No smiles, no thank you.... nada. When we sat down to wait for our food my mom said that she almost told her "hold back your enthusiasm!!" And my mom is a nice person! Haha. Anyway.... after giving up on this place awhile back and exploring other Indian restaurants, I've come to find that this might just be my favorite in terms of the food. I've been to 4-5 other Indian restaurants and NO ONE has naan that comes close to this place!! It's light and fluffy and they give you about twice as much as other restaurants do when you order a side and this amount comes WITH your meal. (Plus, a side of it is only 1.50, compared to the avg of $3 at other places I've been to.) So I got my usual chicken tikka masala that came with a few bites of side salad, rice and all that fluffy $*!^&@ delicious naan for $10! Can't beat it. My mom got Malai Kofta, which we both also like. We shared the tandoori wings as an app for the first time and they were really freakin good too... stained our fingers a little but worth it. They were still kind of slow, but it's worth the wait. This is now on the list for me where the great food/value is worth the crappy counter service. I'm excited they've improved some and I'll definitely be back!

The food was quite good and they offer a nice selection. If you are dining it is a self-seat, no waitstaff type place. It also can get loud despite only a few tables of people. I do recommend this place if you are looking for some good middle eastern food. The dining area is clean, but basic.

The first time I've been here, the place was run down, dirty, and they seemed pissed. Wanted to give this place another try and came here yesterday. But before we went there, I decided to order ahead of time. So I ordered 4 dishes: tandoori lamb, chili chicken, chicken tikka masala, and malai kofta. The person on the phone said it will take around 20 minutes. We decided to wait about 20 minutes then go there. Coming from Elkridge to Catonsville takes us about 15 minutes. When we got there the place upgraded. Big screen TV, pop music in the background, decent tables and chairs, pictures of the menu up top. So upon reaching the counter, there was a woman in front of me waiting for her food. The guy with the glasses (That works there) went in the kitchen. Meanwhile I asked the woman how long she waited for her food (She got 3 dishes), she said she waited for about 15 minutes. The guy came back out and gave her the dishes. Asked me my name, I told him. He went back in the kitchen. About a minute later he comes out and says my food isnt ready yet. I understand sometimes food takes longer than usual. But the fact that it was only me and 1 other person in the restaurant at the time seemed a bit odd. I wanted to pay to get it over with. Total was about 45 dollars, paid with a credit card and my idiotic self decided to give him a 10% tip. We were ordering take out too. So that makes me a very potent dummy. Hey, I cant help my generous nature! Anyways, I waited another 10 minutes. Finally, the food came and I was ready to go back to my sisters' apartment and tear this food up! So we were driving back and my sister sees that we were missing a dish (Tandoori Lamb). And this was about 20 minutes after I picked up the food. I called the place and told them the situation and the guy acknowledged it and told me that he was in the process of calling me when I called him. He said the food is ready and I can pick it up anytime, which I immediately did. We got back to the apartment and some of the food was delicious. I really liked the chicken tikka masala sauce and the malai kofta sauce + naan bread = Spectacular! Aside from that the meats were tough and chewy. The tandoori lamb which was semi cold (Obviously) and stringy. The lettuce in the salads weren't fresh. Rice is decent. So ordering 4 dishes ahead of time. Waiting for a total of almost an hour, we got our food. Missing 1 dish, had to call and they say they were going to call me, which were probably lies especially when its been 20 minutes since I've picked up the food. Suspicious. And I gave them a tip!!! What was I thinking?!?! They apologized but from the look of their faces, I suspect they didnt care. In the matter of a few hours after eating, I went to the bathroom 4 times. All of them #2's. Terrible feeling. Giving this place a second chance was a mistake. Even though some of the food was good, I felt like the service was definitely something you dont ever want to experience. Would be 3 stars for the food. But No stars with the service. I will never go here again. So it gets a single Star from me.

I'm going to come clean - after the experience that led to the last review I was writing mad. I broke down since and have been back a couple of times. Order has been restored at Kabab Hut. The food is once again tasty. There has been a facelift on the eating area and I have been treated quite well on my recent visits. I'm so thankful to be eating here again!

This Kabab Hut is the McDonalds of Indian/Pakistani restaurants in the local area. This is not a fine dining establishment their entire menu goes from #1 to #16 or whatever and you get a plate of nibbles. Quality of the food is questionable. Not to say they use rotten ingredients the taste clearly lacks the attention to detail and time that I am accustomed to other local estabs. For example! The chicken tikka masala was more like tomato sauce than a masala & the veggie samosas were like fried skillet potatoes enveloped in a thick greasy crust with no authentic spices to speak of. Quick and fast doesn't mean quick and good. However, their salmon wraps are tasty.

Came here on a whim since I pass this place all the time. Ordered: Bengle Kabab platter, Kabab Hut Combo platter (made up of Lamb, chicken, and beef sheek kabobs), and the Lamb Korma platter. The Beef Sheek Kabab was SX and I's least favorite kabob item. It was a bit too dry and lacking in seasoning. The Bengle Kabab was a bit better, as it was better seasoned and spicy. It wasn't as dry as the beef one. The Lamb korma (our favorite item we ordered) was quite tasty and had a slight spicy kick. It was missing the nuts and raisins though... so that was a bit of a disappointment. The platters came with naan (yummy), rice (okay), and a salad mix of iceberg, carrots, and red cabbage (this was the worst thing ever... unfresh and wilty/soggy). The Bengle Kabab platter came with chana masala (chickpeas) instead of rice. If I come back, probably just stick with the more Indian items (ie: curries, masalas, kormas, biryanis). For kabobs, I would just make the drive to Maiwand Kabob in Columbia, MD. Their kabobs and appetizers are stellar.

Arrived at 6 PM on a weeknight. There were only 2 customers seated waiting for food. Ordered the mixed kabob combo (beef, lamb, chicken) and the chicken tikka kabob. After 35 minutes of waiting (had to ask once what the hold up was), we were served. The naan was hot and tasted fresh. The rice was good, although the rice portion was small. The chicken was OK, a bit dry. The lamb kabob was too finely ground, dry, and over seasoned, making me wonder if it may have been older mutton. The beef also tasted old and was dry. Overall, not impressed by the wait time or food quality.

I think this place is fantastic. I come just about every week , sometimes even twice a week. I have not tried alot of the menu just because I always stick to a few things when it comes to pakistani food since I am pakistani and can get most of the food on pakistani resturant menus at home and always better (dads cooking). I typically get the lamb or chicken biryani, beef seekh kababs, tandoori chicken wings , and beef samosas. I noticed that most of the negative reviews are from last year so I am assuming that they have improved there service because I have never had any problems when I come to this place and the workers are very friendly. They do take longer then your typical restaurant to serve food so I usually order in advance before I come pick it up. But there food is great so its okay :)

I was boasting to my parents about this place I went to all during my pregnancy. I took my dad who is also a foodie but was not the best experienced this time. The samosa was a bit overcooked as wel as our tandoori lamb. I won't give up. I will try one more time since my previous experiences was pretty good.

One of the cleaner South Asian restaurants I've been to in the area. It definitely exceeded my expectations because I walked in there as a last minute thing, not expecting much. The food was delicious, and the service was nice. I ordered the plate of beef boti kabob with a sweetened yogurt lassi on the side. I also requested they keep the spiciness fairly mild, which they did. The seating was plentiful and the background music was surprisingly pleasant. Props to whoever picks the tunes! Overall, I'd give them a 5. They're affordable, yummy, and close to home.

Initially I thought this place only sold kabobs but I was more than happy they had delicious Indian food instead. The service, food, and even the selection surpasses the meager price range. Kabob Hut has lamb biryani cooked to perfection. Aromatic spices, tender lamb, and a limitless supply of raita. From a far away glance, one can easily deduce that Kabob Hut has steep competition since this fast food style restaurant is in close proximity to Shaheen and other Indian food joints. Once you take a bite out of their lamb dishes you will realize that this is the best Indian restaurant you will ever find in Catonsville.

My roommates had to go to Patel Brothers grocery, so I joined them and noticed this place next door. They were set on Paradise Biryani, but I got to choose this place thanks to my cranky underfed temperament. We ordered tandoori chicken, chicken tikkay, and chicken tikka masala. Everything is halal and about $10-$15. The food took some time to come out, but wow, it was sooo good!! Generous servings and nicely cooked meat. I guess chicken tikka masala was a bit sweet but it may have been made for American tastes. Naan and rice are included in the price of the entree. Also, they let me substitute chanay (chickpeas) instead of the rice. It is not a fancy fancy place (think Chipotle), but hey, you don't have to tip and you will likely have leftovers for next day's lunch. The best thing was that my roommates came home and said they were happy I bugged them to try this place and they will listen to me in the future. :)

I love this place! Whenever I am in the area, I always stop here to pick up four, five or six dishes (i.e., menu items) to take home and eat, and to put the leftovers in the fridge to provide wonderful meals over the next few days. I have been dropping by this rather small, plain, and unassuming-looking Indian and Pakistani restaurant since at least 2010, and have never yet had a bad dish nor any problems with any of the staffers. Rather, their food is great, and I have always found the staffers to be helpful. As I mentioned above, this place is rather small, and that fact, coupled with its location in a small nondescript strip mall along Baltimore National Pike, and the hole-in-the-wall appearance of the storefront, could easily lead a casual observer into concluding that this is an Indian restaurant that would best be skipped. That would be a big mistake! The reality is that their menu is very good, with lots of variety, and their food is spicy, and made with fresh ingredients. The interior of this little place is small and plain, but I will note that the interior, including the signage and the tables and chairs (mostly booths, but a few small standalone tables with chairs as well), seems to have been upgraded at least twice since 2010, and so the interior looks even better now than it did in 2010, but frankly, I never had any complaints even back in 2010 when the interior was much simpler, plainer and rather unadorned. If you are looking for a fancy interior, or glitz, or mood lighting, or for linen-covered tables with attentive waitservers, this is not the restaurant to visit. However, if you are looking for a very good menu with a broad range of offerings, and very good Indian and Pakistani food, then this is the place to visit! Oh, and the prices are also very inexpensive! BTW, if you are ordering takeout food, I suggest that before you leave the store you open each bag and inspect the contents to insure that everything that you ordered is there. This little bit of due diligence only takes a minute or two of your time, and a little bit of effort, but can save you lots of headaches later in case there should happen to be a missing item. Personally, I always take this precaution at ALL take-out restaurants that I patronize, because it can save a lot of headache or heartache later!

Staff were much friendlier this visit. I also tried a new dish and it was just as delicious as the others. I've been to many Indian restaurants all over Maryland and this is definitely my favorite one! I will definitely be a regular here.

The food here is fantastic. I think the place is under new ownership and it shows. We had the Bengal kabab, Bihari kabab, and the Combo that is a mix of beef, chicken and lamb. Every single dish was amazing and everything was cooked to perfection and not over cooked. All the kababs are incredible and they serve fresh naan with your food. I've been to a lot of middle eastern, afghan, Turkish, Indian places etc. in NYC and the food here rivals those places, if not exceeds. I would definitely recommend. There is something about the spices in the Bihari kabab that are just awesome. I came here a week ago and I'm back again. Definitely one of the best places in the area.

This is our favorite restaurant for that Friday night when you don't want to cook. The kebab hut combo and lamb chops are weekly favorites. We had family in for the holidays and ordered 5 different meals and shared them. Everyone was impressed.

Just got back from a wonderful lunch here and told my mom about it. She said, "Really? THAT place?!" Seems she and my dad had an awful experience there a few months back: slow service, attitude, mediocre food. From reading the other reviews, it seems like it's hit or miss. Thankfully, it was a hit for us! The place is tiny and no-frills, but clean, with nice prints on the walls of good-looking food. Three big LCD screens behind the counter show 27 different platter choices, plus sides and drink options. Everything looked great, so I chose the beef shish kebab and my husband the chicken curry. We sat in a booth to wait, and about 20 minutes later, as promised, a young man delivered steaming plates of food. I got three good-sized kebabs on a bed of onions and cucumbers; my husband got a large portion of chicken in fresh, hot masala curry sauce. We also got large scoops of basmati rice, tiny cups of coriander chutney and piles of shredded lettuce topped with what looked like yogurt sauce but was actually ranch dressing. (?!) Other than that small misstep, everything was fabulous: flavorful, fresh and filling. Bonus: they also brought a huge basket of hot, fresh naan to the table. Every Indian restaurant I've ever visited prior to this one has tried to sell me on a side of naan, and this place just gave it to us! I was dumbfounded. Anyway, for $10 each, a huge eat-in meal in a pleasant atmosphere (no loud music or hovering wait staff) I think it's hard to do better than this. I'll be back for sure -- and if it's a miss next time, of course I'll let you know. :)

We have been going here for several years and the food has always been great. Just went there as recently as today and the food was even better than it's been in previous years. My husband got the Tandoori chicken which is off the hook, I had the chicken wrap which is always great and the kids had their usual kids meal. The place is much nicer looking now, with private booths on either side. Looks much better than the plain tables & chairs they had before. This is definitely one of the better Indian/Paki food places in the area, so I would recommend giving it a try.

the whole tandoori chicken was great, It's my favorite. and also the good thing is they have coupons in doubletakedeals. the place was nice and clean, the food is freshly prepared so make sure to order 30 minutes before you start:-)

I admit, this place lacks "comfort and inviting when you walk in. It feels colder than any fast food take out (order at the counter and find a table to eat at). They will bring your order to the table. The person behind the counter also lacked a smile and a pleasant personality. I think if they address these two areas more people would return. With that aside, I do think their food is very, very good! They have a large menu selection and their naan is outstanding. Order take-out to avoid the cold atmosphere; or eat in with your eye closed to enjoy every bite.

We went on a weekday and ordered off the menu. The food took a long time to come out, but they gave us an extra order of samosas for our trouble. When it came out, the food was fantastic. Some of the best Indian I've had in the area. I got the impression that they made our food while we waited, which was nice cause it was super fresh and tasty, but obviously we had to wait a long time. I'll definitely go back, but probably only for carry-out or the buffet because then we won't have to worry about the long wait.

We ate here to use our Groupon and we loved it! The food was as hot and fresh as you could get. It was perfectly seasoned and spiced and piping hot!! We ordered the Paneer Tikka & the Gobi Manchurian and both were fantastic. The prices for what you get are such a great value. I would have liked to see more of a beverage selection, but other than that, an amazing place! We will be back for sure!!

My friend and I went to this place the other night because it was new to us and right around the corner. Plus, we were craving some naan and yogurt sauce. After ordering, we took our drinks from the fridge and noticed that they felt cool, not cold to the touch. Either the setting on the fridge was not where it should have been, or they had restocked right before we got there. I did not mind, as I'm used to warm drinks, but my friend had to ask for ice, which they graciously provided. We got our appetizer, the veggie samosas, which were very spicy, but came with a sweet red sauce that helped with the heat. We also go our naan bread with the yogurt sauce, raita. The naan was fluffy, doughy, and delicious, but the raita did not seem very fresh, and had a sweetness to it that we were not used to. My friend ordered the chicken tikka masala that came with bad lettuce, but good rice. The red sauce was delicious and although we are not fans of white meat, the cubes of chicken breast were surprisingly tender and juicy. I got the lamb chops that also came with bad lettuce, but the chick peas were okay, and the lamb chops were pretty good. The best part of the meal was the naan bread, which we used to soak up the sauces and eat with the meats. We finished a whole basketful! Overall, the meal was very satisfying and the service was good. However, I only give this place two stars because we both had problems that night. I kept having to wake up to go to the bathroom, and I thought it was because of the spiciness of the food. But then I heard from my friend that she ended up violently vomiting (think Exorcist)! Perhaps it was just a bad night to go, but neither of us want to relive that experience ever again.

This place was pretty good, I've heard things from my school about how good it is, the waiting is pretty standard, and I ordered the lamb wrap, which was amazing! My girl ordered a chicken wrap which apparently had ketchup and mayo as part of the sauce, so I'd take off a point for that, but a definitely must try. The price was a bit expensive for these plus a cheese naan, and the cheese naan was not cheesy enough..

  • Christina S.

Ordered carryout and was not overall impressed with most of the dishes. Lollipop chicken was not fully cooked, breaded too heavily and poorly seasoned. The tamarind dipping sauce was too small of a portion. The seekh kabob was ground too fine (resembled the texture of liver), with fillers, and over seasoned. As a rule of the thumb, good quality meat should speak for itself and not require heavy seasoning which is suspect in a establishment like this.

No smiles. Service slow. Apathetic attitude towards customers. They have a logo, "For less inconvenience, call ..." That should say something about their inconvenient service. It's probably just an mistake in translation but ironic nonetheless. Bengali kababs were decent however. Samosas mediocre. Chutney terrible. Naans were average but doughy. Will unlikely re-visit.

I come here a decent amount for lunch. Love the chicken tikka masala and their mango lassi is nice. It takes some time to get your food if you just walk in (sometimes up to 25 minutes, so you better have some time to kill), so I recommend calling in the order ahead of time. Not too much room inside either, so sometimes it fills up quick. I tend to carry out.

  • Marsha G.

A friend took me here for the first time yesterday. We ordered the Chicken Kabab and the Chicken Tikka. We waited 45 minutes for our food and the place was not very busy. We never heard a "sorry for the wait, the food is coming" nothing. The food finally arrived and they were barely room temperature. They conveniently have a sign asking customers to be patient with them. Ok fine but a little customer service would have been appreciated. I was not looking for 5 star customer service, but common courtesy was not asking too much. My friend who conveniently informed me (after the fact) the he was giving the place a second chance, because he waited 35 minutes for his food the first time. Needless to say I was not happy with him either. So if you have 35-45 minutes to waste give the place a try or not!
