I have been looking for someplace to get fried rice in a pineapple, & I came across this restaurant. The presentation is definitely 5 stars, but the food itself was not that impressive. I would not recommend the pineapple rice. The sushi was excellent, and the service was great. Our server was very attentive. The honey walnut chicken and shrimp in the Grand Marnier sauce was good. The atmosphere is nice, I noticed some private party rooms in the back. I would definitely come here with a group, and the sushi was so good and well presented that I would definitely celebrate my birthday or another special event here.

I love simply love this place. I enjoy just about everything on the menu, along with a glass of plum wine. The owner and his daughter are good people and very welcoming. I definitely would recommend this place

I honestly don't understand why this place got a 4/5. If you come here, don't order anything but the sushi. I ordered noodles and they were about 50% cooked. At my table, my friends got a general taos chicken that didn't have any flavor, and someone else got terrible pad thai. The sushi was the only tolerable thing here. The waiter was also terrible, delivering dishes that we didn't order. Also, the cup of water I got smelled like mold. Avoid this place.

Love their egg drop soup, something so comforting and good about it that makes it better than any I have ever had, just quality! I usually go for lunch and the service is prompt and dishes are consistent every time I go.

One of my favorite places. Fun bar, good food and good interior. I go there with my friends for HH. If you're thinking about taking a first date good idea.

I normally don't write bad reviews. However, I think people need to be warned about this place. My first visit was a disaster. I specifically asked the waiter about their sushi and which sushi was cooked. Ok, obviously I wanted cooked sushi only. After I ordered my meal (specifically asking if it was cooked and being told that it was), I was under the impression that I would be receiving a plate full of cooked sushi. I received the opposite. I also received something that did not look like what I ordered. I spoke to my waitress to have my food switched to something cooked and she said she could not do that. I asked another waiter and he literally fled my table without fulfilling my request. At that point, I asked to speak to the manager. The manager was no help. He gave me the history of sushi and why they prepare their sushi the way they do and still would not switch my meal to something more desirable or to something that I had specifically asked for. Mind you, this happened on my very first visit which was several years ago. Today, I am married and actually live near this restaurant. My husband and I decided to give this place another chance only to be encountered with bad service and nasty attitudes from the staff - especially the carry out staff/people at the cash registers. Also, the last few times my husband has eaten food from this place (on his own), he has felt sick afterwards. I just got some veggie sushi from this place today (after having not been to this place for at least a year) and now feel sick and my stomach uneasy. Some of the staff were unprofessional (as usual), and the guy who took my order displayed a bad attitude. I think we've given this place enough chances. I have dined in and carried out of this place, and both have been bad experiences. I will not step foot in this place again.

Five star service, agreeable to substitutions (only broccoli and mushrooms in the Hunan dish), and very polite and attentive. The green tea was real loose leaf Japanese with the rice flavor. It was served in a large mug, perfectly steeped. The tuna, salmon, and California rolls were fresh and perfect. Even the fortune cookies were of higher quality than your typical Asian restaurant.

Even though the name includes the word sushi this place is more of an Asian fusion medley of Thai, Chinese, Japanese and Heaven know what. It is a sports bar type atmosphere with a large screen television hanging over the bar and visible throughout the restaurant. It is also a place where parents will bring infants and toddlers, but since it isn't really that expensive I guess it could qualify as a "family friendly" restaurant. This is not a quiet place to have a meal between the loud television and the crying babies. I had a selection of Japanese food and the quality was very poor. The scallions in the Miso soup were very tough and gummy and the broth lacked the subtle flavors of a true and well made Miso. I had a Chirashi rice bowl and the rice was very poorly cooked. I had an internal debate as to whether it was under or over cooked, but whatever it was, it was barely edible. The actual sushi in the bowl was delicious, but still ... anyone who is particular about their Japanese food should give this place a miss.

Lunch time and you're craving sushi? GO HERE! Great quality sushi for a great price that comes with miso soup and a salad (if you do the lunch special). This has been my go-to sushi spot for years, even before the expansion . Dinner prices for sushi are reasonable, but the quality is always spot on. Their entrées aren't too bad, but I go for the sushi.

The iced tea was good Thats it. Shumai not even luke warm. California roll just not good took it apart and ate the avacodo . And whats up with the soy sauce, what was that? Thats all i got because it is way overpriced for what it is . Yuck

Do people in Bowie just have no standards? This is one of the worst Asian restaurants I've ever been to. While they offer more variety than golden corral, they can't say much about the quality. Their general tso and sushi was simply underwhelming. I needed to buy sparkling bottled water because the glasses smell like dish rags. Bowie, have some standards jesus Christ.

Ichiban Suchi is great. I've been for sushi at the sushi bar, Thai and Chinese at a table, and drinks at the bar. I've never had a bad experience here. I think it may be a best kept secret because I'm normally seated immediately. Its clean, the staff is friendly and attentive, the decor is pretty (although the lip couch in the front seems out of place), and the food is great. Whenever I order sushi I always get the avocado salad. It simple, fresh, and tasty. Its dimly lit and can be a romantic date location. Its moderately priced so its good for lunch and for dinner. Just a really good delicious place if you like Asian food.

This was my first time stopping in. I ordered the Chelsea Roll which was pretty good. I ordered shrimp fried rice, as well. That's where they totally failed!!! I asked for no onion, I didn't realize that I would then only have a lot of bean sprouts, rice, shrimp, and a little bit of egg. I won't come back here. While the roll was good. They didn't offer enough cooked sushi options. Overall, I wasted my money.

Ichiban for the most part has good food, there have been some issues as of late with freshness, I got food with rotten elements, rotten lemons and limes. At one point I was a regular going at least 2 time a week, the owners know me on site very well, the wife does not speak at all even if you speak to her first, really. The husband knows my name and uses it and he speaks, the daughter will talk about you out loud in your face, she's very disrespectful and rude and I am not altogether certain she even realizes it. If there's something wrong with your food they will lower the price but still charge you saying they are charging for what you ate, seriously. All of the staff , who by the way have been there for a long while are all gone suddenly, really, wow. I won't be back either, I'll let my dollars speak in this case when they are ready to treat customers with respect, and appreciation perhaps I will return.

I Ordered a spider roll. On the menu clearly says (soft shell crab roll)(crab, cucumber, avocado, lettuce and tobiko). I got ridiculous amounts of lettuce, dried up soft shell crab mixed in with imitation crab. I was very disappointed!!

A go to local for me since it's opening so many years ago. Im only sad to say this is my scone stint with Yelp so my past reviews have long since been deleted concerning Ichiban. The service and ownership has done nothing but continually improve this operation since its opening pre 2010++ The Spider rolls, Unagi, and Spicy Tuna are some of my standbys and always can count on them being consistent. Of course the Sashimi, and Sushi be it Tuna, Yellowtail, Slamon or all else is simply delicious and again consistent. They are quick and although a little pricey, worth the trip regardless of wether you live in Crofton or Laurel.

  • Joe K.

Customer service here was pleasant, quick and friendly. The size of the three sushi rolls were fair, but slightly over priced. The ingredientes were fresh and a sort of variety I have not seen in sushi in or around Maryland, but of rolls from the west coast. Sauce options were extremely light, which made the flavors of the ingredients more pronounced, and made the roll more about what's inside rather than masking it with lobes of ell sauce and mayonnaise. Lastly their miso soup was some of the best I have had, the fresh shiitake mushroom slices were a nice addition to the dish. The menu is rather large and they also offer hibachi inspired rice and grilled dishes, so there is more variety than just sushi. I was a little disappointed by their choice to offer elongated reusable chopsticks, though it adds a level of 'class' to the dining experience; I thought of them as cumbersome and difficult to use for my whole meal. Either way the decor is modern, clean and comfortable and makes for a great date night sushi stop. There is also a lounge, which I am unsure how busy it gets in the evenings but looks great to have a seat in and relax. In addition to the tables, lounge and sushi bar there are also conference rooms that are separated from the main dining room and offer projector services, great for a conference or birthday party.... 4 stars, a great experience.

I come here on at least once a month and I always get the the ichiban salad. If you haven't tried it its pretty good, it's like sushi without the rice. They put the seaweed at the bottom and shredded crab meat on top with crumbs of tempura with their special sauce. The spicy California roll is just its regular California with a dot of its spicy mayo on top, which IMO is pretty good. Anything spicy is always good!

The tonkatsu ramen was great! I had two bowls. The pork topping was excellent along with the shoyu egg. I was very impressed with the quality of ramen. I think I found my new favorite place.

Absolutely incredible sushi. The Spider roll, Godzilla roll, patriot roll, lobster roll, and the bonsai roll are all amazing. Fresh fish. Great presentation. Extremely tasty. The patriot roll was a special and was one of the best rolls I have ever eaten.

I will never come back to this place. The food wasn't bad when they got your order correct or even listened to what you asked for. Along with my entree I also ordered sushi that never seemed to get to me. When my boyfriend asked the status of it (because another table got their's) our server looked at us like we were crazy.

This place isn't too far from my house. My husband and I tried this restaurant on our date night. We were very impressive with the customer service and the atmosphere. The food was very delicious. Definitely worth the price. The Hunan chicken and Mango shrimp was very tasty and fulling. We also tried the 4 different rolls. All were tasty. A must try.

This is my go to Asian spot in Prince George's County. I LOVE this place. I've never had a bad experience dining in, however, taking out can be a bit of a hit or miss for me. One time I asked for extra sauce for my chicken and broccoli on the side and I got all the way home to find no sauce anywhere, not even on the food. Needless to say I was quite peeved. Another time the food and quality was ehhhh. And the last time I ordered to go the food seemed like it had been sitting, like it wasn't freshly made or something, and I ordered quite a bit of food, I had to end up taking it back. But I have NEVER had a bad experience dining in. The drinks are good, the service is good, and like I said, I LOVE the food! I've also had a small get together after an event in their back room which is also really nice and everyone loved it. Oh, and their presentation of the food is excellent! And their prices are reasonable. I never get just one thing.

Wut up fools, dis yo homeboy again. Okay, I think some of the reviews praise this place more for what it's currently "worth". Came here on an Easter Sunday cause most places were closed. Menu had a lot of selections, not surprised since its a sushi restaurant. They have a contemporary decor with a nice bar. It was probably about 4 customers in the restaurant at the time when I was there. Asked the bartender if they had a maki combo (3 sushi for the price of 1) since "most" sushi places have it, even those that consider themselves "high quality" dining. Dude said no. Okay, got 2 tuna rolls. I was expecting something more & much better quality, considering each tuna roll was about $6. Got a Pepsi too. Food came out, I was disappointed in the portion & quality. I'll be honest, I get the same sushi at this Chinese take out around my way for $3.50 (same quality & portion). Got the bill, it was like $17. The Pepsi was $3.50. Ridiculous I thought to myself. I was hungry when I left that place, I literally had to go to a burger joint b/c I didn't want to spend more money. Basically, I spent $20 ($3.00 tip) to eat 2 tuna rolls. I think this place is trying to be something that its not, that is, establishing itself as a high quality sushi place when they can't even establish the basics. It's about the customers & finding out what the customers wants & their expectations. If I wanted to go to a "high quality" sushi restaurant, I'll go downtown & spend the same money with much better quality. Just b/c u open a restaurant with contemporary settings, that don't mean anything if the food is not what the public wants. It's pointless. Just be prepared to spend a lot when u get here. I would go to a different sushi place next time. Sorry, for the price, the quality, portion, & selection, it's just not worth it. I'll talk to all u chicken heads next time. 420 all day, everyday fools.

I have just started eating rolls recently! Ichiban is one of the places that is in neighborhood and it is convenient!! The restaurant is nicely decorated, very dark inside, but it is very nice!! I usually get the lunch combo where you get 2 rolls for $9. I usually get the Boston Roll and a Ebi Roll!! Not too adventurous yet!! It also comes with a Miso soup and a salad with ginger dressing!! Very good! The miso soup isn't too salty and is very good!! Definitely love Ichiban for a quick lunch!!

3 WORDS!!!!!! Love This Place. There aren't too mant places in my area (Largo, Capitol Heights, Forestville) with great sushi. So whenever me and a few of the sushi lovers in my family are craving sushi, we come to this place. There is a bar included so sometimes if me and my friends come here and there is a wait, we stop at the bar for a few drinks. (Mind you, the wait has never been long for me) When it comes to the food, I have only had the pineappe fried rice, singapore noodles, and panang curry. All of which were phenomenal. Sushi-wise, I have had the california roll, spicy yellowtail, and tuna roll which I asked to include spicy mayo. They were all fresh (which is really important to me.) and realllly good! I've had a few sushi rolls that were cooked, but I can't remember the names of them. They were all amazing though!!

This is without a doubt one of the best Sushi places in the area. The quality of fish, and the artistry with which is is prepared is top notch. There is never a disappointment. I have been going since long before their renovation and name expansion, and they never fail to impress me. The owners are very social and greet you every time you come back -- they treat their customers like royalty, and every meal is fit for an emperor. Not an over-exxageration!

Our waitress had to have been new; otherwise, there was just no excuse for her forgetfulness. We had to request lemons with our water two additional times after our first request. Also, she never brought us the chopsticks or additional napkins that we asked for. I'm not sure if she assumed that we didn't know how to use chopsticks, or that we'd be uber american and eat our sushi with forks, but another waitress helping the table next to us eventually brought them to us. She must have realized that she forgot these things, because once we got them from the other waitress, she seemed to avoid our table. We also weren't offered hot towels like the waitress next to us was offering her tables. We felt like we weren't given the same level of service as her tables, and because of that, we are very skeptical about coming back. As far as everything else was concerned, we had a pleasant experience. The ambiance was nice: beautifully decorated interior, authentic Japanese music, and some of the most delicious Japanese food this side of the hemisphere.

Oh Ichiban... How I love the... I love your rolls... I love the decor... I love the sushi chefs... I don't really like the waiters... but that's ok... because you make my tummy oh so happy... I just wanna kiss you on the mouth... I'll come back to see you soon...

I've been to Ichiban prior to the expansion and after. I love the decorations in the place. Love the Asian décor! For some reason my favorite dish is the chicken and broccoli. I love it because they use what seems to me to be REAL chicken slices and its just delicious! It can be a little more pricey than at other Chinese places but because I feel ALOT more comfortable with the quality of the chicken, I'm gladly willing to pay. I'll continue to come back.

Went here on a Wednesday night at 8pm and sat in the bar area. The restaurant is located in the Bowie Town Center shopping mall, but once inside, it really transforms you to a different place. They have a sushi bar, a regular bar with nice high tables (several 2 seaters and one long table) in the immediate area and hibachi grills and regular table in the dining area. Our bartender/waitress name was Julia and she was FABULOUS. I ordered the apple mojito and she changed the recipe just for me. I loved it and ordered another one. My date and I shared the lettuce wraps and I was pleasantly surprised by the how delicious they were...and filling. But being the greedy person that I am, I also ordered the Salmon dish. I didn't know that it came with salad and soup. I couldn't eat all of it, but it made a great leftover lunch the next day. Overall, I do recommend this restaurant and I can't wait to go back to try the sushi bar and other items on the menu. I put this place on the same level as Graces (off MLK) but the service was much better!!

I've been going to Ichiban prior to their expansion when it only had a few tables. Routinely, expansions don't go well. Ichiban not only held on to their great sushi, but expanded their menu adding many wonderful Asian dishes. I haven't had a poor experience here, ever. Excellent food and their sushi beats many of the local favorites (e.g. Joss, Tsunami) hands down. I'm a fan.

I'm not a sushi connoisseur by any stretch of the imagination. I can hardly use chopsticks properly for Pete's sake. Still, I know what I like and I know when something is super tasty and super fresh. Ichiban's Sushi, therefore, was just ok. It was fresh, but something about it wasn't as flavorful as what I am used to. I stopped in and ordered a to-go order for date night in a couple weeks ago and found my shrimp tempura and spicy tuna rolls a tad bit mediocre. Hubs didn't comment on it either way, which was telling to me. Usually he will comment if it's good and hold his tongue if he's not too pleased. Not sure what it was about the sushi from here, but it just tasted blah. Next time I go, I will skip the sushi and try the hibachi in the attached restaurant instead.

I read a lot of the positive reviews on here and expected way better. I was excited to try their sushi, but I was disappointed when I saw that most of the rolls have asparagus in them. I like more traditional sushi, so this was a bit 'artsy' for me. I ended up ordering the beef teriyaki. The Miso was lacking in flavor, the salad was gross because they put frozen (yes, frozen!) peanut dressing on it that tasted like they mixed thousand island dressing and peanut sauce together. The beef was pretty good, but nothing to write home about. My husband ordered a few of their rolls and said they were unremarkable. It also took over 20 minutes to get a refill on a glass of water. I wasn't impressed with the service at all. We won't be returning.

About 5 years ago, Ichiban really lived up to its name. The food was DElicious (I know, I meant to do that). However, after there recent "upgrades" to look more lounge, the food is just less than delicious, the service lower than average, and the prices are expensive. Their saving grace is the beautiful bathroom! But I wouldn't go just for that.

The interior of Ichiban Sushi is very clean and naturally lit. The tables are positioned around the centrally placed sushi bar, stocked with two sushi chefs. Our server was very cordial and energetic. We both ordered miso soup, but then our server mentioned that there is a mushroom soup as well. I ordered both. The mushroom soup had a broth much like pho, with thinly sliced mushrooms and not much else, but it was very good. The miso soup was very typical, with a good helping of seaweed. The house salad comes with a very delicious dressing with a French base, with ginger added to make it the 'House dressing.' We ordered the salmon teriyaki and the chicken teriyaki. Although they both looked delicious, this is due to the fact that they looked exactly the same. Salmon: yelp.com/biz_photos/i7FV… Chicken: yelp.com/biz_photos/i7FV… If you can tell the difference, you're better than me. I couldn't believe how blandly they selected the presentation for these two dishes. Luckily my sushi had a much prettier presentation. I ordered the Alaskan roll and lobster California roll. The Alaskan roll had the obvious ingredient of Alaskan salmon. It was rolled evenly, although the telltale signs of a sushi roll press were evident at the seam of the nori, where a little bit of green showed across the entire length of the maki. The lobster roll was very good, mostly because it had lobster in it. It was a typical California roll, with lobster instead of imitation meat being the only difference. The chilled green tea was delicious. It was real green tea, not the typical American "honey added" kind, or just plain sweet kind I can't stand. I loved this green tea! It tasted so natural and bitter, just the way I like it. For dessert I couldn't decide between mango mochi and strawberry mochi so I got both (common occurrence). I must say, this mochi tasted so natural and delicious that it could very well have been made from real fruit. I wanted more but we were running short on time and stomach capacity. With the check came a complimentary bowl with an adorable little orange, top removed, toothpick inserted, slices cut. It was a great ending to a delicious lunch. Good job Ichiban Sushi! P.S. The restaurant is hidden way in the back of a giant shopping complex in Bowie. You have to sort of know where it is before going there, since the GPS address leads you to the shopping center, not the restaurant. The restaurant is actually conveniently located next to the Off Broadway shoe store, so you can pick up a pair of overpriced, ugly shoes that are a season or two behind the curve after you dine.

The service here is really hit-or-miss. I've had some very un-attentive servers with bad attitudes that won't even come to check on you or refill your drink, but I've also had some really nice servers! The food is kinda bland if you go for the cooked foods. I usually get the spicy tuna roll or the General Tso's shrimp. Whenever I got anything else, (curry, chicken teriyaki, sesame chicken) it's always been flavorless. So I will continue to go, but only getting things I know will come out good lol.

This place is less than a mile from me and I never even tried it until two weeks ago when my brother suggested it for his birthday dinner. This place rocks! The food is excellent! It's a Pan Asian Bistro, so you will find a variety of far Asian cuisine (pad thai, panang curry, terriyaki, sushi, orange chicken, etc). I ordered the Shrimp and Walnut Chicken it is AWESOME (a bit on the pricey side), but portions are big! Definitely will be back!!

Okay, was it just me that the hostess/waiter was mean to? And, not only was this guy just rude, the food wasn't great. Actually, it was pretty darn bad. Maybe, this was an off day because all of these reviews for this horrible place is through the roof. :( After all this WAS my first time, and I was there for takeout, so I can't speak for the dining experience. HOWEVER, I can speak about the rude customer service, and the old food I received. I purchased a California roll, two shrimp tempura rolls, and a smoked salmon roll. My mouth was watering... but when I got home ( no more than 15 min later) the avocado was brown (as if it had been sitting out for hours) the rice was stale, the shrimp was soaked in oil, and the salmon tasted a little...weird. I dunno, when I spend 40+ dollars somehow I expect fresh food. Especially if it is sushi. I'm just sayin... And to top matters off the hostess was beyond rude. Like, I inconvenienced him by ordering my food there. Maybe I was supposed to make my own food? Whatever. I can honestly say that I will NOT be back to this establishment. I can think of better places to get old, expensive food.

I recently moved to the Bowie area right next to the Towne Center and I was looking for Asian cuisine that wasn't the typical "carry-out" version that Maryland (or better yet, Prince Georges County) has to offer. I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. The decor as so-so, but the food was above par. Absolutely loved the Thai Basil Shrimp! As a fan of Thai cuisine, I thought I would take a chance on the couple of Thai dishes they had to offer. Although the dish was not authentic Thai, I found that the addition of the grilled veggies was SUPURB!! Just the right amount of vegetables, sauce, and when I said I wanted THAI spicy....that's exactly what I got! Burn your chest...runny nose SPICY! It didn't take away from the flavor, but it was just right! Kudos to the chef. :) It's nice to find an Asian food restaurant in PG that isn't named "Danny's" ,"Yum Yums", or China/Szechwan Garden!! Yippee! Also, a decent little bar if you want to just drop in for a drink or two and have a decent view of the TV.

I love going to Ichiban. It's a nice atmosphere. Without being too stuffy. The waiters are great. I love the spicy tuna. I usually try to go. At least twice a month. I didn't like the Snapper much because it was wrapped in Tempura, and I personally hate Tempura. But overall if I am stuck for a place to eat. I usually go to Ichiban.

This place is OK. This is not the best sushi i've ever had but it's not the worst. Prices were pretty high. (I go to the university down the street and came here on a whim). The place is very nice though. I felt a little under dressed. I went mid-day between classes and ended up spending $30 for a mai tai, california roll, and a spicy tuna roll. I've definitely spent less at similar places in the area.

One of regular spots for dining in Bowie. Good food, nice atmosphere, and good service too. Rainbow chicken is a favorite. The sushi is also good. Sometimes we make a small plates style meal with their appetizers.

Used to love this place. They have great food never complained until one day my cousins and I went for lunch, my cousin's food was just not right. Asked to get something different and they refused said " it was policy that once the food came it thats it" ha really... Well you lost a faithful customer. Management sucks! Good food( 99% of the time) but if your management sucks you won't last much longer! A shame ...

The sushi is good and fresh but the service is lacking. The servers are either overly attentive or not at all. The first time I went with a bunch of girlfriends and the server asked us if we needed something every 7 min. while we were trying to talk. The second time, the server's hair was in my soup and we sat with a finished meal for 15 min. before he checked on us for the check. The manager was standing at the front desk and said nothing as we left such as " have a good evening" or " thank you for coming".

I only had take out tonight so I wouldn't know what the table service is like. My biggest gripe about this place is that there is no menu online to check out online to order ahead. In saying that I arrived to order food to-go. I ordered the miso soup, ichiban roll, shrimp tempura rolls, salmon nigiri, tuna nigiri, eel nigiri and also the unadon. close to 90 bucks for food to-go, yikes. A bit steep but I kept hearing rave reviews of this place so I didn't mind much. 20 minutes go by, 30 minute mark came and passed, then at 40 minutes of waiting patiently I finally get my food. At that point I'm fuming but also starving... I took my bags and left without even checking if everything was there and the order was correct. I got home to open and try the miso soup, extremely salty. The nigiri was fresh and the sashimi on the nigiri was very large piece of fish! I couldn't believe how big they were, at least triple the size of other places. I didn't really know what the iciban roll was until I tried it. The ichiban roll was good but I wasn't a fan of all the sweet mushroom. What suprised me the most was the shrimp tempura roll, it was two whole pieces of shrimp in the roll. Also, by the time I got home I couldn't believe how crunchy the shrimp still was. I was so full by the time I finished the rolls that I did not even touch the unadon. I wouldn't say I recommend this place for a group dinner but maybe for a date would be nice, prices are a bit steep and there wasn't a asian person in sight other than the two people who worked at the front hostess stand. Overall a decent food experience but I only give this place three stars for the value of service and speediness. Don't know if I'd go back and actually try and sit down and eat at this place.

Best sushi place I have been to in MD! I love their spicy tuna roll, best I've ever had. You get a ton of food for the cost and its all awesome. The people who work there are very very nice and the place is clean and always packed. I wish that I lived near by so I can come everyday!

Most amazing food ever! The sushi is excellent, the bartender Lucky has excellent custom drinks. The atmosphere is soothing and the warm jasmine towels are the icing on the cake.

My first time here since the renovation and I love it! The food is still great and the atmosphere is wonderful. If you're near Bowie and in the mood for sushi this is the place.

I only have had sushi at Ichiban, but it is always perfect. The service is amazing, the atmosphere is wonderful, its my go-to when I'm in Bowie. If you haven't been, you MUST MUST go. FYI- last time I was there I heard the female owner ordering LOTS of wine and mentioning that she was expanding the restaurant! How awesome is that.

I'm finally breaking down and putting up some reviews for some of my favorite spots. Ichiban Sushi is by far one of my favs. As the other reviewer said, its a little spot placed in a spot most people won't notice. I hit there on a regular basis, once every few weeks. The ambience there is fab, its a little cozy spot, great for catching up with some good friends, or a romantic spot for that special someone. Service is pretty good, I always laugh because the little Asian guy who does seating definitely wants to take advantage of the small space. He'll flip tables quicker than you can chew if you let him! All jokes aside though, the sushi is made fresh and the sushi chefs definitely know their stuff. One downside is that it doesn't have as many "exotic" sushi options like some of the bigger known spots. It gives you a good selection though, and what they do give is delicious. I'm never ever disappointed when I go there. IS also doubles as a regular Chinese-Japanese carry out/dine in spot. So for those of you die hard General Tso's Chicken fans, you won't be disappointed. Those looking for the Chicken wings with french fries (and mambo sauce) that's popular with the younger generation, won't be happy though; not a chicken wing to be found there. (Thank goodness) I can't exactly comment on the other stuff cause I have only gotten sushi there. Friends I've gone with always get takeout either for themselves or family members, so it must be good. So needless to say, I'm glad I don't live anywhere near there. I'd be a whole lot heavier if I did!

I'm very surprised that no one has reviewed Ichiban. I don't feel that my review deserves a "first" because I only hit it up for carry -out. But this place needs it's mark on the Yelp map. Ichiban is a lovely little sushi bar in a strip mall sandwiched between a dunkin donuts/baskin robbins and an off-broadway shoe store. Many friends have recommened it as the go-to place in Bowie for yummy sushi done well. Like I said, I only ordered carry-out but the sushi was just delicious. They are open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. I can't wait to go back for a real dining experience. The service was fast and friendly.

Get the Godzilla roll. Spicy tuna plus avocado. YUMMY! Clean. The Thai iced tea is good too!

been here couples times, the place is good, i think the sushi was just fine, the services was good, but their pad thai was flavorless, i had to keep added the hot sauce, so i can taste something instead of plain, over all, this place is not bad,

The sushi isn't great, but it's far better than the pan-Asian items on the menu. But if you go, get Spicy Tuna Roll. Very good. The rest of the "Japanese" items are so-so, or worse. Also, if you go, go the takeout route. Do not sit down. The waiter rushes you through ordering, rushes you through eating, rushes through getting you the heck out of there. Unpleasant. Which is also how the cashiers treat you when you pick up your order, but at least that's only for a minute or two. On a related topic, they immediately look at how much you've tipped when you pay for takeout, and register their displeasure if it's not sufficient for them. Since when are we expected to tip the same amount on a takeout order as for sit-down service? I don't tip the cashier at JC Penny, nor the counter guy at Auto Zone, nor the ticket taker at Camden Yards...why should I tip the person who runs my credit card? Putting two boxes in a bag with chopsticks and soy sauce is tip-worthy now? Whether it's here or anywhere else, I started tipping a nominal amount on a takeout check when I pay with credit or debit about 15 years ago. But the same as for table service? Are you kidding me???

I have been coming to Ichiban since 2007. I'm really glad they expanded the restaurant. They have an awesome sushi lunch special (M-F) 3 rolls, soup and salad $9 or 4 rolls for $12. The quality of the sushi matches the price. People are complaining on here about the price, hello it's SUSHI and I have been to many sushi places in the area. I used to eat at Hanami in College park (cheap) and after eating at Ichiban and East moon, eating at Hanami DISGUSTS me. Cheap sushi is terrible sushi. Anyway, I am also a big fan of their Singapore Noodle. I had an ex that had Celiac's and it was an awesome option for him! In fact, I've tried Singapore Noodles at other places in the area and nothing compares to Ichiban. Now, I just wish they delivered like East Moon! :)

I'm so sad that I have to rate this lower now. This place is no longer just a little sushi restaurant but now a "Bistro" I am not knocking the interior's is quite gorgeous) or the service's was really great), but the prices are a lot higher and the quality of the sushi seemed to go down as a result. The salmon roe roll I got was just plain nasty. The roe tasted briny (yes, I know that roe is sometimes preserved in brine but something was just off about this), there was this almost artificial sweetness to it and it was not that fresh (thank goodness I only ordered two small pieces). I've had amazing sushi with fresh salmon roe (at another restaurant) that when you tasted it you felt as if the flavors of the sea were bursting in your mouth. The other roll I got was not that bad but for the life of me I can't remember the name, which is probably a sign that I enjoyed it but it wasn't memorable enough for me or it just didn't stand out. The good news is that they updated their dessert menu and had many tempting sweets ( no yucky banana tempura on a leaf, huzzah!), but sadly I had to decline that night ( Darn stupid conscience reminding me of my diet plan). Maybe I just went on a bad night or something, either way I'm not sure if I'll return.

I love sushi and Chinese food, this place to me has the best of both. Even though not too many people know of this little place in the back of the Bowie town center, it's always packed. The owners know me and my friends and my family so, we always get seated at the big round table and they always give us extra food b/c we are regulars. There are places you go weekly. The sushi chefs are really fast and the presentation is gorgeous. They aren't pricey and you get alot of food for your money. It is a cute hole in the wall place that I discovered 3 years ago. I usually get the Dragon/ Caterpillar roll, Unagi (eel) and sometimes the spicy girl roll, California rolls, Saki roll (salmon) and LOTS of wassabi. Try the red bean ice cream too

I'm a sushi newbie...so this was my first solo adventure. I had no idea what to order so I tried to describe what I've had before. The chef had no clue what I was talking about but said something to the host and he gave me some suggestions. I was very happy with what he ordered for me! It was very similar to what I had before, but was of a better quality. I do plan on exploring other options, but will gladly return.

The change to an Asian Bistro is really well done and the new menu additions are top notch. I can see that I am going to have to work my way through the menu in many, many more visits. All of the descriptions for the food seem so appetizing. Right now the foods seem to take a little longer to come out, but it may be because they are putting a lot of care to make everything just right.

I think this is a great place to eat. It's clean, the food is very good, and we have always had good service. The food may be slightly over-priced but there isn't any other place within miles that is as good.

...no. definitely no. i must have been here on an off day, as it seems the 9 other reviewers have had great experiences here. maybe it is because i ordered take out instead of eating in? either way, the service was average, and they killed my shrimp tempura roll. a little pissed i spent $8 on it, but you better believe i forced myself to finish it because i hate to waste food. will not be going back.

Went here to have mothers day dinner. Pros: Food is delicious. Ordered red snapper thai style, chicken teriyaki, shanghai noodles and the grilled pork chops. Entrees were hot and served perfectly. I recommend having the hot green tea. Very good tea. Cons: Lighting is poor. Could add some more lighting. Our neighboring customer barely had light. I was dismayed by the fact that they did not offer us a warm towel while the other customers received them.

Some lovely sushi. My favorite is spicy yellow tail. Tonight I had sesame chicken. Another favorite. The atmosphere is surprisingly elegant in comparison to similar resturants around the area. Sushi and food always tasty. The bars, sushi and liquor are inviting though the liquor bar has darker lighting it's still relaxing. There is one thing that stands out after a long tiring day at work. Each meal starts with a hot, and I mean hot, towel. Melt your cares away. I always come back to this little oasis.

Very nice bar and bar area. Restauant is beautiful. Every dish we've tried, excellent. The General Tso's was the best I've ever eaten. The Monday and Wednesday bartender makes great Martinis. Monday is martini night.

So so so good! I like sitting at the sushi bar so I can watch everything being made. This place is clean, legit and fairly priced. The sushi is great but, I especially like the crab money ball appetizer. It's like crab rangoon times 10!!! The plates come out looking like master pieces and the service is great!

Stopped in here for lunch while in the area for business. Exterior: this is located in a strip mall and is very easy to get to. It is not on the beaten track, so finding it will require knowing it's there or checking Yelp. There's plenty of parking, which is always a plus. Interior: this is a large restaurant and I went straight to the sushi bar. I did notice a lot of seating around for various sized parties. It is nicely appointed inside and I felt comfortable. Staff: the entire staff was warm and friendly. They were extremely attentive and it was a real pleasure thanks to them. Food: this is where I was pretty disappointed. I have eaten at another Ichiban and the food was outstanding. Here, well, the rice kept falling apart and the slices of seafood were definitely smaller than I'd received at the other Ichiban. Since I was here for lunch, the portions were much smaller so I ended up ordering more to make up for it and spent just as much as for a dinner. Even the second order was falling apart. Overall, if you really want sushi and don't know where else might have some, this is a decent place to go. However, compared to my previous experience at a different location, this was a let down.

We had an event here for a birthday celebration, where we had about 20 guests. The room they gave us was extremely tight, therefore making it difficult for us to move around. At one point the waitress handed the food to other guests to pass them to the desired owner. The servers seemed disoriented but, I would have to say the food I ordered is why I gave them 4 stars. We had the coconut fried rice(extra spicy with shrimp). This is the best rice I've had in a while, I believe the pepper helped a little but, it was absolutely delicious.

Hidden jewel? Diamond in the rough? Needle in a haystack? Ichiban Sushi can be described with any of these clichés! Almost anonymously located in the rear of the Bowie Town Center, this is the only Sushi restaurant that comes to mind in Bowie. I've been a patron since it was half the size. They have done an outstanding renovation while combining the space previously occupied by Baskin Robbins. Beautifully designed and decorated and trust me the food matches in taste. Last night I had the Shrimp Pineapple dish served in a real pineapple. It was loaded with big juicy shrimp (see photo), green and red peppers, and pineapple chucks combined with either jasmine or brown rice. This dish was delicious! I normally have sushi when I visit because their sushi rivals any of the sushi I've had at much pricier restaurants. I love this place because of the quality, service and unbelievable value. If you're in the Bowie area and have a taste for good sushi, give Ichiban Sushi a try.. I guarantee you'll be back!

My wife and I have been coming here since 2006, and it has never disappointed. At first we came here because of its convenient location and good food, but since it's expansion we have been coming here for more celebratory occasions. The sushi is always fresh and creative, and reasonably priced as well. For us it has become a cheap and satisfying indulgence. Is it the best sushi we have ever had? No, but it is the best within a quick driving distance.

Nice waiter! Delish food. I didn't want to try the Ichiban sushi roll but I did and it was divine. We had two other rolls.... which were EXCELLENT as well. There actual entrees looked and smelled tasty. I did take a small bite of the basil chicken and it was very flavorful. I will be back FOR SURE!

Every single thing I have ordered from this place has been nothing but perfect. My favorite has to be the calamari and Ichiban salad. I have only experienced one waitress who wasn't pleasant, but other than that I have always had a great time. The atmosphere is very soothing. It cost a pretty penny to dine here, sometimes I wonder if it's worth it but then I realize I'm always pleased with my food.

  • Kristophe C.

The food was average at best. If it was based on presentation, I would've given Ichiban 5 stars-the pineapple fried rice I ordered was served in a pineapple, which was pretty fancy and the sushi looked great too. However, the pineapple fried rice was mushy like the rice was overcooked and the pineapple wasn't fresh. The two sushi rolls that I ordered tasted the exact same even though they both had distinctly different ingredients. Overall, I was underwhelmed and unimpressed.

Yelp brought me back here. I didn't realize that it grew into an Asian Bristo. The decoration and atmosphere has improved dramatically. It is a very nice place. Being half Japanese, I love sushi and consider myself somewhat knowledgeable about it. A lot of people know that fresh fish is vital for the sushi to be rated high. Most people do not talk about the rice. Good sushi rice is of high value, cooked perfectly and mixed/fanned out with the perfect amount of sushi rice vinegar. As some people noted, the fish seem to be fresh. However, the rice was a little on the dry side, didn't have the sushi vinegar subtle taste and wasn't packed firmly. I still enjoyed it anyways, cause I'm use to sushi places not giving me the full package. Service was friendly and quick. Parking was abundant and available. I haven't tried the non-sushi dishes. I'm leery of mixed Asian dishes, because cooks are generally good with one ethnic food rather than all of them. I'm glad I came back, due to you Yelpers. I'll shall return.
