Kind of taken aback by some of the reviews here. We eat here on average, I would say 3 times per month. Never had cold or bad food (usually still very hot when I get it home). Recent ownership change has brought the use of credit/debit cards as a payment option. Owner is frequently taking calls while I am either placing or picking up my order, and I cannot recall a time I have ever heard him rude to anyone on the phone. We will continue visiting here, and you should too.

I'm not sure why this was recommended to me! I'm new in the area and, this place was recommended by another newcomer! I read the reviews and decidedly went to order take out! I was actually excited by the no frills appearance of the place (like a ghetto apartment building entrance) and the matter of fact pick up area; I assumed it was a legit Chinese carry out! The host was extremely nice! It's a given that the majority of your food will be pre-cooked at any Chinese take out but, this place obviously holds that assumption to it's advantage. The food is old! It's seriously old! I understand that not all wonton soup is fresh (as it should be) or homemade but, it should never taste close to rancid! The sweet and sour chicken chicken was over cooked (I saw it being cooked twice)! The pork in the pork fried rice was full of fat and extremely tough! All and all this place is awful! It's dirty and bad. I rarely give bad reviews but, once I tasted the wonton soup I was sold on how bad a place this was. It's a travesty to serve such a standard dish this bad!

I placed an order and after 40 minutes i called and the man who answered rudely told me my food will be there in 2 minutes. After another 20 minutes i called with no answer. They charged my card, i have no food and I do not see why anyone would ever dine at this place or order ftom here. I mean I know times are rough but stealing your customers money is just wrong. Do not ever eat here! I wish there was a negative star button

Mushu pork pancake is not right... Think I just ate a soy wrap or something. Yuck! General Tso's chicken not the best but edible. Mumbo sauce is like watery sweet and sour....soooo disappointing :/ Hate to say it but the sticky rice was prob the best thing I ate! Nice people but I surly won't be returning.

Good choice for quick food, but cash/check only is a headache. Food is overall good, still looking for an amazing Chinese place in the area.

HG is not a sit down restaurant - only carryout or delivery. I've been coming here for over 15 years and without a doubt it has the best Chinese take-away food in Bowie. I have tried most of the others and always comeback to the HG. They had a change of ownership recently, but that has not diminished their quality one bit. I highly recommend them.

Yu-Ling Duck and Shrimp Steak Combination are my two favorite dishes here. Carry out or delivery only

Good family owned restaurant in Bowie many years. The food is always fresh, they remember you and your special requests (broccoli and mushroom only with light or just a little sauce). They are very quick to take your order, and deliver also with never a mix up. I like the Hunan style, and order Tofu Hunan with broccoli and mushroom off the menu.

I like this place it's in bowie off mount oak road...they are nice and pleasant. The food is always fresh so they rake a little longer with your food then the typical carry out and they only take cash.

Don't order from here! Eden Garden is way better! The food always upsets my stomach. Probably because it's so greasy.

Short and to the point. Called them at 9:00, they close at 10:00, was very rude and rushed me off the phone. Then calls me 20 minutes later to tell me my food is done, we get down there and suddenly they don't accept credit cards and never have. -_- it says they do here, and on their site. This isn't my first encounter with them either, this is the second and the very last. Too many other take outs to deal with all that.

Definitely good for carry out food. They offer more than the online menu shows and the woman running the cash register is too cute and very friendly. We ordered the beef with oyster sauce. It wasn't bad. wasn't stellar. It seems most carryouts have a general brown sauce that just changes names to enhance the menu. This was that generic broccoli & beef/ pepper steak /& now oyster ....sauce. Due to the lack in flavor variation, I wasn't impressed. However, the sauce wasn't overly greasy or rank so I wasn't turned off by it either. We also got the general tso's chicken. I don't know who general tso is or why he's been turned into bite sized hunks but I do know, at least, his foot was in that there!!! It was good. We needed to reheat all the food when we got it home but that held up a la microwave pretty well. All in all, if I'm in the Bowie area & craving late night carry out, we'd go back. Oh, keep in mind, no matter what yelp tells ya they do NOT accept credit cards, so take cash!

Been going to this CARRY OUT ONLY Chinese restaurant since the early 90's. Food is absolutely awesome! Would put the food up against Grace's Fortune...at a much more reasonable price. Favorites include ShaCha chicken, Szechuan Shrimp, Bean Curd home style (not a vegetarian dish - has bits of pork in the sauce). It is on Mt. Oak Road - next to the Domino's Pizza and 7/11. hunan-gardens.com They deliver

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
