Coffee was good but at 4pm on a Saturday the trash was full inside the store so people were placing trash on top and there was no toilet paper in the men or women's room.. Starbucks you can do better

I enjoy going to this Starbucks. The staff are very friendly and hard working. I would say the line rules are confusing, but now they have these green footprint decals to illustrate where to cue up (see my photos). Back in pre-floor-sticker days, I must admit I made some line entry/passing faux pas or two myself! They also carry good pastries now! -All Starbucks stores used to have dull and salty pastries, if you'd asked me, but they're a lot better now. As long as you enter from the Woodmont Ave. side, it's a great place. Like the other reviews say, it's good for meetings as there are a lot of tables. There is outdoor seating, but the construction/destruction has somewhat diminished the comfort of that this season. At times, the construction outside isn't fun to crawl over either, and must be done to enter the Norfolk Ave side. They've closed the sidewalk, at times on both sides, and part of the street, but I'll walk in the road, zig-zaging traffic buckets and vehicles anyways to get to my regular Starbucks! In the morning the wait can be about 5 minutes or so. Also, in the afternoon there isn't much of a line, but the employees are slower. I guess the slower rate of customers breeds a more apathetic attitude or something, and I end up feeling like I'm watching a slow-motion video when I order; in Metro Center or Union Station, by contrast, it's quick enough all day so this doesn't happen, possibly because the poor bastards are in fight-or-flight mode all day, but the tables at those locations become more crowded and dirtier.

This location is pretty big. A lot of space inside which is good for when it gets busy. The baristas are nice and quick with your order. Internet was working quickly as well. Only downfall, street parking or garage parking.

This Starbucks is in a great location, but the service is total crap. They are super slow, everyone that works there acts like they hate life, and they are always out of products. In addition, they refuse to serve pupppuccinos. They actually looked at me like I was an idiot for asking for one. For those that don't know it is literally a squirt of whip cream in a small cup for dogs.

This location was better than most other Starbucks that I usually go to, the service was great here and the caramel frappe was very good!

This is a LOUD and busy Starbucks with plenty of seating, which made it the perfect stop when I needed a place to sit for a couple of hours with free wifi to get some work done. It's bustling- even during the off-peak hours when I made it my home away from home there was consistently a line three to five people deep. However, the two friendly cashiers and two efficient baristas kept the line moving at a decent clip, both for ordering as well as receiving your drink. There were plenty of seating options at this location too. Whether you were looking for small tables, armchairs, or outdoor patio space to plop down in, they had you covered. The menu and food were standard Starbucks issue, and overall, I can't complain.

I've been going religiously to Starbucks for 15 years. Also I've been to many locations domestic and international. I've been coming to this one for three years an have to say, this Starbucks has the worst service ever seen. My blood pressure rises everytime I come here. The cashiers are slow, drinks take way too long, and staff is not well presented. Couple this with lackadaisical attitudes when the lines build up is a combination for failure. This Starbucks has a premiere corner location and I frequent it bc its across from my condo. After 15 yrs, I'm considering walking down the block to the competition. Whoever is managing this location needs to be replaced.

I've been to many Starbucks around the world and this is one of the best. The staff is friendly and quick. The space is expansive with a variety of seating arrangements. The store is consistently clean and well stocked. The recently redesigned interior makes it an even more appealing location.

I've come in here a lot to work. Because I telecommute, sometimes I like to be around people and pretend that we're in an office and I have friends. But also, there's a very generous amount of seating in this Starbucks and the cashiers are always friendly. Why do I give this particular Starbucks 5 stars. Here's the story. For an event I just did, I was the Barista for about 30 guests and made lattes and vanilla lattes. When I was at Costco, shopping for cups and what not- I ended up buying a large bag of Hawaiian coffee beans. I thought, ohh I'll really give them a treat with fancy Hawaiian coffee. The night before the event, I dropped by Starbucks for some of their delicious signature vanilla syrup. Up until that point, I forgot that I didn't have this giant bag of coffee ground. A Costco size bag of coffee beans that needed to be ground to a specific size ground. And, if I was going to do it, it would probably take an hour in my tiny little coffee grinder, and I would have to guess if it was ground fine enough for an espresso machine. Which isn't super easy. And I had SO much other stuff to do to prepare for the event. Well, I was so bold as to ask the Starbucks if they would grind this foreign beans for me... The manager ( I think) said that they usually don't grind other beans but they'd make an exception because I was in such dire straights. Do you know how much time that saved me. Do you know how much that little ounce of compassion went in the terms of customer service. I'm a customer their frequently, not at night when this manager was working - so she's never seen me before. She also didn't know that I used to work for the company. I put a lot of my heart in soul formally into a store in Towson Maryland. But she just saw the desperation on my face, knew she could do it, and obliged happily. I bought my vanilla syrup, got my beans ground and was such a happy camper. Great store, great service. I'll never forget that. I hope that she really understands how much that truly meant to me. Thanks guys!

It's your typical starbucks. I like it enough. However, at certain times (afternoon weekends), it can be a little difficult to find a seating area. It can also get a little on the noisy side, especially with the tables and chairs arranged so close to each other. But the baristas are nice and friendly and the coffee is good. And it's in a convenient location, too! Next to some good restaurants and the circulator. And is fairly close to the metro.

It's Starbucks. It's actually a pretty big Starbucks, although it's laid out weirdly. The line forms straight ahead from the cashiers, while the food is displayed to the right of the cashiers- making it awkward to stand in line and squint at the food display to figure out what might be in there that you want. There are minimal items for sale- I checked for a bottle of SF vanilla syrup, and they didn't have any. Despite being big, they don't have as much seating as I expected (or maybe the seating was just a bit weirdly planned), and the seats often seem full of people with headphones on, staring at their laptops. I've gone a few times, and the line has ranged from no people to about 15 people. However, the cashiers have always been friendly and my drinks have always been made correctly- and it's the only Starbucks in the area. Despite all the above, if this place was closer to my apartment, I'd be there every day, just because I'm addicted to soy lattes. But I probably wouldn't go there to work during the day.

This place is my ultimate favorite Starbucks.... Staff is awesome, line usually moves pretty quick, and I never have a problem finding a seat. I work from 'home' sometimes but usually come into Bethesda, and work from here. Love my 7 pump peach green tea lemonade in summer, and my quad venti soy caramel macchiatto.

Yikes. I worked at this Starbucks location 10 years ago, so I decided to stop in and see what's been happening and if any of my coworkers happened to still be working there. Slim chance, but you never know. I go to the cashier (whom I have never seen before) and order a green tea frappe. She takes my credit card, slides it, and returns it to me, all in silence. I give her a blank look until she tells me to go to the barista for my drink. I ask her for my receipt, and she prints one out for me, silently. Well, forget talking to this bored one. The barista hands me my beverage with a smile and a thank you. So I think that I can have a pleasant conversation with him. Oh, how wrong I was. Me, with a smile: "What's your manager's name?" Barista (sudden dirty look): "Ahmed. But he's not here today." Me: "Oh, okay. I used to work here 10 years ago, so I was just wondering if anyone I knew was still here." Barista (with raised eyebrow): "YOU worked here?" Me: "Yeah. Ten years ago." Barista gives me a strange look, leaves to clean his station. Okay, maybe it was a little bit of a stretch to even think that my manager would still be around. But why be an asshole about it? At least the Bethesda snotty attitudes haven't gone away. Blech. EDIT: I rated this location 3 stars because the location is great, and my drink was delicious. You guys have not lived until you've tasted matcha green tea. That's what Starbucks uses for their green tea lattes and frappes. Mmmmmm....

Never have i been into a Starbucks where the employee was not friendly. This guy did not smile, whispered our order and had no idea which was which. 3 cups were placed on the counter, I took them to our table only to notice there was nothing written on the cups. We had no idea which drink was which. He came over guessed wrong, we lifted the tops ourselves and figured it out. Wish I could tell you his name but he didn't have on a name tag. Not the greatest experience!

The new staff at this Starbucks are unprofessional and borderline immature. They whisper to one another while working, giggle, make sarcastic comments. The former staff was upbeat and friendly. Starbucks really needs to do a better job at screening employees. Their employees customer service and professionalism has declined greatly in recent years.

  • Sky T.

I love Starbucks but this location is just awful compared to others. I live right down the street so I come here often because it's the closest, and 90% of the time they either mess up my drink entirely or it's not hot enough. I feel like they half a*s all of their orders (like they don't shake green tea lattes which leaves chunks of matcha powder at the bottom) and don't steam their drinks properly. Additionally, their hours are terrible! They close so early everyday which annoys me a lot. They are also always out of things like syrups and sauces so it's hard to really get the drink you want. I hope they improve because I feel as though I am constantly disappointed at this Starbucks.

  • Debbe M.

I love Starbucks!! However, this location is probably the worst one I've experienced due to the employees being extremely slow at the register. Other Starbucks are more efficient in the entire process of getting customers' orders started before they even pay. Maybe these employees weren't properly trained? I want to love this Starbucks location since it's close by to where I live but every time I go, it's the same thing...super slow. And the employees don't seem as friendly and cheerful.

  • Nicole G.

Friendly staff and lots of room inside and outside. Plus it's on my way to work, which is both a blessing and curse. Not much to say, everything tastes like it does at other Starbucks, and even though you try not to ,you end up stopping in to throw your money at an overpriced coffee.

  • Ruth C.

Corner location off the main road in the area, so not terribly crowded. Lots of seating, even room for the hobo snoozing in the corner by the window. Small tables, long cushioned bench, comfy chairs by the door. Line winds along the ride side. Service was efficient and friendly, but once my whipped cream was flat. Wrong orders, moldy grapes, forgotten receipts. Chai tasted soapy and pumpkin scone cakey. Sausage croissant is a glorified pig in pastry puff blanket, I've had better hot dogs. Pepperoni foldover had barely any cheese. I'm sure I'll be back when office-strength coffee just isn't cutting it.

Not my favorite Starbucks to go to if I had to sit down and try to get some work done. It's on a corner of a very busy neighborhood strolling area. Not quiet... ever, but the quality and speed of delivery is exactly what you would expect. Quick and delish.

An average Starbucks. It's always clean, but the sugar and milk stations could use a bit more TLC late at night.

  • Mariko F.

So it's a Starbucks. What else is new? Sadly, it's the only place in the area to get coffee that isn't going to make your stomach, mouth and brain hurt all at the same time. It's very depressing. That's the downside. On the upside, it's a Starbucks, and so you know what you are getting. It might not be the best thing you ever had, but it definitely isn't going to be the worst. Every Starbucks is just about exactly like the next. Don't you just love the McDonaldization of the world? But this one has nice people, a clean bathroom and sells (overpriced but decently tasting) sandwiches.

Short version: fast, efficient, and has tons of room with many large tables that's great for group meetings. Long(er) version: Dear Deity-of-Your-Choice, Thank you so much for putting having this Starbucks so close to my parents' store. Too often, 8am comes way too early - especially when I've taken precious vacation days to help my parents' out, and my dad wants me to deal with thecustomers...surly and tired Fennies make for craptapulous customers service skills. Thank goodness for this Starbucks that can whip out a triple venti no-foam extra-hot soy latte faster then my mom can point out the number of calories in said triple venti no-foam extra-hot soy latte. This Starbucks - life saver. Not only for me, but for my parents' business, and to the poor hapless customers that wander in when I'm helping out at the shop. Sincerely, ~F

My one major complaint about this place is that the lines can get LONG between 10 and 10:30 am and again between 1 and 2, just the times I'd like to grab some coffee. When the line is long they don't zip you through it like some Starbucks do, and you can be in for a long wait (by which I mean up to 20 minutes, which I think is not okay for a Starbucks). However, their baristas are super friendly and will chat with you. I go there at least a few times a month every month and have for the past 2 years plus and they have only made a mistake on my drink order once. There is plenty of space to sit and a nice, relaxing, quiet atmosphere for work, study, or just unwinding. It's also a great, central location. Overall, a solid Starbucks to go to in Bethesda.

Good place for a cup of coffee and studying. Lots of outlets / tables and generally quiet except for 1-2 PM when the post-lunch crowd rolls in. Wifi is left on even when the places closes at night.

I don't usually experience anything bad at most of Starbucks except thislocation and one of Alexandria, VA location. When I was in line for waiting cashier. Finally my turn. I saw a guy who is around mid age, Caucasian, he was standing nearby register. When I walked toward cashier (because of my turn finally..in long line), this employee at cash register looked at me and ignored me, then asked this guy 'next person please!' I was not happy of course. 1 week later, same thing happened. Are they racist or what?

Good selection of hot teas and pastries. The staff are friendly. This location is larger than most, so there are plenty of seats inside and out. Steer clear of the bagels though - had one today that was stale.

I liked this Starbucks location! It's in a convenient location and didn't get very crowded at all. It was spacious. Service was prompt and efficient. I used my receipt for the $2 grande cold drink after 2 pm and let me tell you my drink was surprisingly absolutely perfect!

I am not a regular Starbucks customer, but I enjoy a latte every now and then and I was in the neighborhood today so I stopped in. They were clearly understaffed, with only 2 people working, and they seemed to be doing the best they could. They were busy and not very outgoing or friendly, but after being in there for 10 minutes I could see why they weren't friendly. The customers were either a)rude or b)snotty. For instance, there was a woman who asked at least 3 times in the 5 minutes I was in the store if there were only 2 of them working, as she was getting very impatient about her iced tea. Her attitude was embarrassing- clearly there were only 2 of them working, and maybe you'd get your iced a a little faster if you let them do their jobs instead of berating them. Another couple didn't seem to feel as if they needed to pay any attention to general social constructs- the man was walking around looking down at whatever was on his tablet and the woman who was with him was trying to shove people out if the way and completely disregarding the fact that there was actually a line. No excuse me, no nothing. Maybe I just caught this Starbucks at a bad time, but it's not hard to have manners, and besides, you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.

I wished this Starbucks was open a little later at night because I like to study later than 9pm. I like the proximity to my hotel, the DoubleTree. They also have the strawberry lemonade refresher drink in stock. That's always a plus! This coffee shop has plenty of seats inside and outside

I'm amazed that no one's ever written about this Starbucks location. It's definitely one of the biggest Starbucks with plenty of tables. Outlets are available along the wall and it's not too noisy for you to get some work done or meet up with people. I don't know if this is something available at all Starbucks locations but this location has a new promotions where you can bring in your an receipt after 2pm (for any purchases before 2pm) to get any grande cold drink for just $2. This location is one of only two coffee shops in all of Woodmont Triangle (seriously Bethesda, we have so many pizza places but barely any coffee joints??). Despite this, Starbucks off of Norfolk and Woodmont does its best to fulfill the needs of the busy folk and quiet studiers alike. There are times when I walk in and walk straight out, just because of how crowded/loud the environment is, and then return an hour or two later to a more large and empty space. The staff is extremely friendly--go Starbucks! However, there are times when I get extremely frustrated with them. I've ordered one particular drink twice, and after having paid for said drink I was told by the barista that they were out of what made that drink special. They couldn't tell me this information before I paid for it? All in all, this Starbucks location is great for meeting with friends, especially in warmer weather when you can sit outside by the tables. If you are looking for a calm place to read or work on your laptop (or ipad), I suggest going there in the evening rather than during the day to avoid the the groupies.

  • Mary A.

I like their new decor and there's plenty of space for folks to spread out, use laptops, and conduct their affairs w/out banging into each other. My regular is a mocha frappucino, lite, with whip, and depending on who the barrister is, it's hit or miss about how great it is. I also love the rice krispie treats but often they're out of them or they're in the back and haven't been put out yet. Regardless, this is my favorite Starbuck's. It's convenient and it's a social gathering place in the hub of North Bethesda.

This is my favorite Starbucks, and the one I go to the most often. Apparently I am not alone, because they get a lot of traffic. Except on rare days, they deal with the traffic quite well, and can whittle a long line down to nothing in five minutes. I have been at the end of a long line there and had my coffee seven minutes later. On the rare occasion when they have someone new working or they are short-handed, it can be a ten minute line. I like this Starbucks because it has a bit more character than most Starbucks, but you have to kind of know the neighborhood a bit to see it. There's definitely a routine set of people who go there. Antonio, the homeless guy outside, talks to everyone, and I think he is good for business. I know he makes my day brighter, and he makes this Starbucks different from other Starbucks. And there's the intersection of Norfolk and Woodmont, across from the diner. It feels like old-school Bethesda. Those are the reasons I go there. Oh, and the latte, which is decent.

  • Katie F.

I am not a coffee person, but I must comment on the service here. It was amazing---I went in to get a cup of tea to bide some time--and the guy behind the counter was SO FRIENDLY to everyone. I didn't catch his name, and regret it---but despite the pressure of the mid-day rush he was pleasant and helping everyone with a smile.

  • Jeffrey A.

The location of this Starbucks is good, a nice corner spot on Norfolk and Woodmont, which makes for some good people watching. The coffee is fine, just dont ask them to make you a smoothie or an iced mocha late. At that point, the wheels come off the well oiled machine that is Starbucks, and you're lucky if you get out of here in under 30 minutes. The rest is the standard issue Starbucks with overpriced food, and that Seattle mellow decor.

    (2)
  • Madelyn B.

The store inside has a pretty big space and nice decor. Once you walk in the store the smell of coffee lingers in the air. The service is quick and amazing. As well as amazing selection of pastries.

    (5)
  • A B.

If you come here when the A-Team is on, you will get great service that is accurate and efficient. If you come the wrong time of day, when less competent cashiers are working, you can expect to wait in line for 10 minutes even when there's nobody in front of you. Overall, the quality of the product is the same as any other Starbucks but the service is hit or miss.
