So don't go by the name. It's great! Indulgent without the indulgences? Have I seen this Seinfeld episode before? Well, until they tell me otherwise I love this place. So yes it's the latest pinkberry but you get your own. So if you only want a taste, thats all you get. Of course a taste of this and a taste of this adds up quick. My guess the owner is the tall lady furiously cleaning. It shows and so do the smiles as they leave the door. Does it cost? Some have weighed it ounce to cents, but from the lines these fans don't really care. Would love a few more chairs or a few less fans. Not sure either will happen. Cheers Menchies!

Hands down, best fro-yo in the Annapolis area. They have a wonderful selection of flavors, some are sugar free, dairy free, and even kosher! You can taste everything, and mix and match is fine too. All of the toppings are really fresh and the berries are sweet. They offer healthy and not so healthy options. Everything from fudge to caramel, and granola to lucky charms. You get to control what you eat so if you don't like it, it's your fault. You pay by weight so if you just want a bite, you don't have to spend $4.00 for your own, or beg some off your friend, you can get a tiny pump. Service is fast and the place is always clean.

Praline frozen yogurt with brownie bites, peanuts and caramel. It was love at first bite and almost brought me to tears when it was gone. Oh menchies, why do you have to be such a far drive?

Oh Menchie's, I'm sorry for our break up. It wasn't you, it was me. We have grown apart. But in memory of our love, I'm giving you five stars. I no longer eat animal products but I suggest you visit this place and commence the love affair. Don't allow the bucket sized cups to entice you. Filling up that cup til ice cream is spilling over the sides will cost you. Any topping you can imagine but I wouldn't necessarily call the fruit "fresh". Went in there one day and it was more like spoiled. I don't hold it against them...fresh fruit in a little metal bin is prone to decay. Just get some peanut butter cups, chocolate sprinkles, butterfinger and your favorite flavor and call it a day of fro-yo bliss my friends. *tear* whispers...I'll miss you.

I love Menchies. Now that I moved from Annapolis, I still try to go there every time I am in town. They are liberal with letting you sample all the different flavors and their toppings selection is awesome. The one downside is that they have probably 3x as many toppings that are candies and cookies than the fruit selection, but that's fine with me. You can be healthier if you can show restraint. I love the bright colors and it just seems like a fun place to be. They also have a party room that you can reserve for private events. My friends and I reserved it for a baby sprinkle and had a nice time.

This place rocks! When I moved back from AZ, I was so bummed with the frozen yogurt selection in the Annapolis area. I went from seeing a "fro-yo" shop every 3 miles (in Scottsdsale) to barely there. The 2 that were in Annapolis were mediocre at best. Enter Menchie's...the bright, colorful fro-yo hot spot. The place is always packed (even in winter) which is a pretty darn good indicator that people like the stuff. They generally have about 10 different flavors which rotate daily. Guests can use a mini cup to sample the flavors before they buy. MOST IMPORTANT- it is self serve! This means guests can create their own portions and incorporate toppings (fruit, candy, etc) to their liking. Plus, they have a kids play area and plenty of seating. If you read my reviews, I am always impressed when the owners take the time to greet guests and say hello. Menchie's lives up to the expectation as I am always greeted with a warm smile from the owners.

Basically the best place on earth. The frozen yogurt is so great and there are several toppings to choose from. It's self serve and you pay by weight, so you can add as little or as much as you like. The staff is friendly and the store is always clean. I highly recommend joining their "smiles" program, I end up enjoying a lot of free froyo because of it!

A frozen yogurt spot in MD that i checked out after a friend's recommendation. On any given day, flavors vary and this allows the customer to make custom creations with the addition of countless toppings available... The yogurt is flavorful and one choose between sweet and tart flavors... The place has a warm atmosphere and the staff is friendly and helpful for the newbies who are new to the self-serve yogurt craze...

I have been a loyal Menchies addict, I mean, customer, since it opened it's doors last year. The flavors are very inventive, and they allow you to sample before you commit. I had to write a review today because of their new summer flavor: coconut. It is seriously the most delicious frozen piece of heaven. The yogurt yumminess is only made more incredible by the candy bar and really amazing fresh fruit toppings that are available. The fruit is always fresh and never has that "sickly" look about it. The place is very kid-friendly with a huge chalk board inside for some artistic outlet. I also appreciate that they have outdoor seating during the summer so I can relax outside with my dog and enjoy my froyo.

Is it bad that I want to move into the apartments at the Annapolis Towne Centre so I can be closer to Menchies? I'm addicted to it! I really hope that the froyo bar fad continues to catch on quickly in this area. Take a cup and go to town, Menchies has a great selection of flavors and labels which are low-fat, fat-free, and kosher. If you're not sure which flavor sounds good, try them all without making a commitment! There are small paper cups for sampling the flavors until you find one that tickles your taste buds. Red velvet, cake batter, and pumpkin (seasonal) are personal favorites. And then there's the toppings... candies, chocolates, cereals, fruit, cheesecake bites, mochi bites, and various syrups and sauces. Pile 'em on, weigh your concoction in, pay up, and enjoy. Everything adds up, so it can get a bit pricey, but it's always worth it.

I looove Menchies! First off, the location. Very smart area to put it in! They are right next to Target, Whole Foods, and a bunch of other restaurants. During the warm weather months, there is seating outside. Inside, the place there are a few high tables and a cute space near the chalkboard on the right. Also, if you plan on throwing a party for the kids- maybe rent the party room? I accidentally thought it was just another lounge room at first but it's only for parties. The design is not overly done with Ikea-look-alike furniture. It's modern, fresh and very bright colors. They sell pre-packed pints of their frozen yogurt for about 7 dollars. Which isn't bad because usually a little over a half a cup of frozen yogurt is around 4 dollars. Then they have the self-serve machines. They always have fruit selections, the original, vanilla and chocolate. However, the original tart is a bit too tarty for my taste. My all time favorite is Red Velvet and Cookies n' Creme. Since it's the fall season, they have Pumpkin flavor, which is very delicious. They let you sample as much as you want! Some frozen yogurts at Menchies are kosher, gluten free, no sugar added, or dairy free. They really taste great! Their toppings bar has two selections, one that has dry ingredients like nuts and candy (changes from season to season). The other side is fruits in syrup or popular candy treats. My personal favorite is mochi and the peanut butter cups. The staff is suppper friendly. I met the owner once, she is always interested in the customers intake, which is great marketing. Oh, and if you can't get enough of them there... they started selling a bunch of Menchies Merch, like a stuffed toy of the Menchie's mascot, silly bandz for the kids, key chains, and even jewelry! I think their a great company :) Try them out if you're looking for a sweet tooth.

I am a big frozen yogurt fan so when we had a new place open by us I was pretty excited. I had never had menchies before so I wasn't sure what to expect. The decor was nice and modern, much like many other Korean frozen yogurt places. I grabbed a bowl and stood in line to serve myself. Now maybe it's just me, but I have always felt that self serve frozen yogurt is never as good as places like pinkberry or tangysweet where they do it for you. Never have I once found a place that beat this rule, so my prejudice stays. Anyway, I reached the machines and looked at the flavors. There was my problem. I am very used to tart and fruity flavors, it's always how I have pictured frozen yogurt, but this place changed that. Flavors such as black forest cake, chocolate, vanilla, and cake batter were just a few. There were some tart/fruit flavors but the majority of those had signs like "gluten free" or contained splenda which I am not a huge fan of. I got the original and black raspberry and topped it with strawberries. The woman at the counter weighed the yogurt and I grabbed a neat plastic spoon with the menchies guy on it. The yogurt was good, like most frozen yogurt, but not great. One of the reasons I feel this place is so highly rated is because most people who live around this area have never had frozen yogurt, so menchies introduced them to it. The many flavors that mimic that of ice cream helped let these new customers try frozen yogurt without having to venture off into something they haven't tried before. Menchies is a great example of a frozen yogurt place changed for American people who don't want to change their ways but want to eat all of the flavors of ice cream with less fat. In my opinion, that's what fat free ice cream is for.

Ok at best. I think it's hysterical that there is a tip jar at the register after you get your own cup, yogurt and toppings. The yogurt was decent. I just won't crave it like I do ice cream. Nice that it is fat free and low in calories though.

Awesome! I'm transplanted from LA where I frequented the Culver City Menchies - which I loved. I am so happy to see one here and I can continue using my Culver City frequent buyer card. Thank G-d for the small things.

Love love love this place! I'll take the self-serve frozen yogurt trend any day over cupcake joints. That being said, the whole concept of eating healthy goes straight out the window as soon as you approach the large amount of toppings. Cheesecake bites? Yes please! Weigh & pay...oh happy day!

  • Dan N.

Delicious and affordable frozen yogurt. Always a great assortment of flavors and toppings. The service is great too: if you're unfamiliar with the lay of the land, they'll drop what they're doing and help you out. Other than that, I don't know what else to say. It's a frozen yogurt place! You can get frozen yogurt here!

Menchie's is the only Frozen Yogurt place I enjoy going to! I look forward to going back to it when I go home! I usually stick with the vanilla yogurt and load up on the hot peanut butter sauce--SO GOOD! They have a great selection of toppings AND flavors and you can swirl them together! I had a waffle bowl for the first time during my last visit and I will get one for the rest of my visits!

I have only been twice but the yogurt is so worth the 45 minute drive from fairfax! I would eat this over a meal any day!!! Try all fruity flavors or the more creamy flavors together...either way you will be pleased. Add toppings!!! The prices are reasonable as well. My favorite would be peach flavor....

YUMMY! i like the fruit based flavors (mango, pomegranate, coconut), but the others are way too sweet. tooooons of toppings, more than most yogurt places.

We stopped in tonight and they were very accommodating to my son's food allergies. My oldest son is severely allergic to peanuts so ice cream shops are usually the last place we go to get his treats. The employees at Menchie's got my son's toppings from the back of the store that way it was no risk of cross contamination!!! They took a lot of care when dealing with us and made us feel so comfortable. It was his Birthday and he had never been to a Ice Cream Store out of fear of cross contamination or accidental ingestion of Peanuts. Thank you for making today special for him!

Reliable fro-yo, but they could use a little bit of ingenuity. The original tart should be more tart and not watery. It's my go-to flavor, but it's been disappointing me lately. They really don't have much fresh fruit selection and it caters mostly to people with overly sweet palates. I'm here just like everyone else to get my sweet tooth on, but they could really use some work on the adult -oriented fro-yo flavors. And please stop with all this sorbet crap and the "healthier options"...this is a fro-yo place. It's better for you than ice cream, depending on the context of "better for you"...But to imply that it's super healthy is bullish!t. It has sugar, sometimes sugar substitutes. You put sugar-laced toppings on it, you pump sugar-laced caramel and chocolate on it...it's okay people. You don't have to come here and get the sugarfree option. Eat whatever you want and get on with your life. Run three miles and you'll "burn" a small serving. Walk around Target for three hours with your cup of fro-yo and you'll do the same. PS: parents - get a hold of your children before they start extruding fro-yo out of every damned dispenser and you end up "setting aside" and not buying the whole cup that they just pumped. Stop being a fatass and control your kids first, before you start closing your eyes after tasting that overfilled sample cup of sugarfree razmatazz raspberry swirl concoction that you think is good for your hips.

Every time I go in here something is wrong with the machines and I end up walking out without my yogurt. Today is no different. It's in a great location but such a disappointment.

Went with my family at about 9pm on a Friday night. They were still quite busy, but there was only one employee that we saw. 2 of the yogurt flavors were out but the rest of the selection was very good. They had Samoa-flavored yogurt. It was heavenly. The toppings area was a little scarce and messy, but it worked. The employee was actively cleaning when she wasn't busy ringing someone up, so she was doing her best. The tables inside were decently clean. Pretty good experience overall, but some room for improvement.

This place is OK. Not the best froyo place I've been to. The yogurt flavors are pretty basic and their toppings are nothing special. Every time I've been here, it has always been filled with screaming kids. However, the service is good and this place is usually pretty clean.

Admittedly, I wasn't a big fan of Menchies. I had been to this location before and the one in Austin and I found their selection of toppings a little limited compared to other froyo spots. However, due to two massive traffic jams around the Annapolis area, I had to skip my original plan to entertain the kiddo at the Rennaisance Fair or the mall. So, in order to earn some points back, I decided that we could get a little pre lunch dessert in at Menchies. I am glad that I gave this location another chance. We had the raspberry/lime sorbet and it was very yummy. Tangy and delicious! We were also given an assortment of promotional toys that my daughter loved.

Fun little place... It's self serve so pick your cup, fill with your favorite flavor(s) of yogurt and top off with a great assortment of toppings from candy to fruit. They rotate the flavors to keep it updated and also have a frequent buyers card for some savings if your a regular.

Delicious fro-yo, clean store and I can keep the spoons to use over again afterwards :) I love Menchies, it's my favorite post-shopping girls' day place in Annapolis.

Oh dear do I love Menchie's. If Menchie's was a person, I would be verging on stalkerish. I cannot get enough of Menchie's. When Menchie's opened, it was one of the first froyo places in Annapolis, so naturally, everyone went bonkers. Menchie's is still awesome and the top froyo place around even though a few have popped up in competition. Menchie's always has 16 different flavors (I'm pretty sure it's 16) to choose from. A few of them are staples, vanilla, chocolate, tart, cake batter, but the others will get changed out every week or two (or three or four depending on the flavor's popularity). Almost all of them are fat free, most of them are kosher, a handful are gluten-free, and a few are sugar free. They also have a huge amount of toppings to choose from, ranging from candy to fruit to different syrups. The price is very reasonable. You pay by the ounce and I have only once broken 5$- and I loaded that sucker up. I also really like the Menchie's reward program. Each dollar you spend you receive a smile. They even give you 25 smiles for free just by signing up. Once you save up 50 smiles, they credit your account 5 dollars that can be spent on more froyo! You also get an extra 5$ credited to your account during your birthday month. I think I may have gotten 50 smiles about 8 times now, which scares me to think of all the money I'm spending on froyo. I can't help it, it's just that good.

My sister insisted we go here after a day at the mall, and I'm glad she insisted. I tried the strawberry flavor, but wasn't that impressed. However, the tart was delicious, and that's why tart is always by go too flavor at any froyo place. They have plenty of toppings. Cereal, candy, fruit, mochi, and other assorted nomness. I paid under $4 for plenty of froyo with yummy toppings, and I'm a-ok with that. Whenever I'm in the area, I'll stop by again!

  • Kara W.

Kudos to Menchies for having the largest froyo flavor and topping selection than most places. The place is always clean. Whenever, I have visited on a weekend, a staff member has been dressed up as the mascot, hugging children and taking pictures with them. In general, yogurt-by-the-ounce isn't a complicated concept. But, the rewards card system needs work. I am a huge fan of places that offer complimentary rewards cards, especially if the pay off is a free item. Menchies' is called Smileage- kind of like a smiling mile high club concept, weirdly cute. This is where they lose me: I signed up for the program at the Annapolis location. They took my basic information, but didn't have any cards. The next few times that I visited, they still didn't have any cards, and I had to remind the cashiers to add my points to my "account." Each time, they seemed a bit annoyed. So....after about 6 visits, I wondered how close I was to receiving some sort of reward for my loyalty. I went online, but was unable to register my account and check my balance because.....YOU NEED A CARD for that! Meanwhile...a former Menchie's employee is probably living it up somewhere in the Caribbean using my name and using all of my points for free froyo.

I really love this Menchies. They have a huge selection of flavors and toppings (I love love love the cheesecake bites). The store is always clean, the workers are helpful, and they have plenty of sample cups laid out. Also, they have chalkboard on both sides of the restaurant to entertain kids. Two thumbs up!

Love that "Guilt-Free" Froyo is becoming such the fad because I personally am a fan. Hit up the new place in the mall a few times and saw this place and had to try. From their inviting decor to their cute outdoor seating area I was an instant fan. They have tons of flavors with the options of swirling two together! I walked in overwhelmed and the worker there said try them all! And pointed to a plate filled with small paper taste cups! I took her up on her offer and was floored how amazing Cake Batter & Red Velvet was. Now on to the toppings bars. Not only do thye have tons of fresh fruit (strawberry, blueberry etc) but they also have TONS of candy toppings. Practically every type of candy bar imaginable and my favorite- Cereal! They had Lucky Charms, Fruity Pebbles and others! They also had warm sauces like PB, Caramel and Chocolate.. I had seriously died and gone to heaven. Will definitely be back.

Build your own frozen yogurt?! YUM! There isn't much more I can add to the awesome reviews of this place. all I can say is that a place that lets me have more fresh fruit and mochi toppings than ice cream deserves a superb rating. I LOVE fresh fruit and I am glad to see that there are places like this that have fresh fruit available. If I had kids, I would so have birthday parties here! I was at Menchies today and saw a birthday party in the small party room and it was adorable. Love it!

Menchies you are the best... Irish Mint is phenomenal and I love LOVE the spoons.. (yes I kept my spoon.) I love that it is clean.. I wish it was in a strip mall so parking was easier (yes I know parking garages galore but I like to park right out front...) I love that I can pick the portions for my 22 month old and she loves the ice cream... The pricing is very reasonable and you can get a My Smileage card to earn discounts. Wish list for this store? More merchandise, Irish Mint as an everyday flavor and more cute spoons and mochi...

I love this idea, Su K. Has the review solid. There is a great amount of space in this place and there are places to sit and eat outside too. I went in August 2010 and I got to sample everything as well without getting to strange a look, it was almost welcome! I loved the red velvet.. just delish and the mint was worth mentioning as well. I am not sure how often the flavors change but the staff was friendly and the other clientele seemed friendly enough as long as you were not in each others way as you got your froyo. Fun, playful place, friendly staff. Parking can be a bear but if you are already visiting the Town Center for some of the other stores here, Menchies is a must stop!! YUM!

  • Kirsten D.

I should say my kids are big fans! I'm not a choose frozen yogurt over the amish market donuts kinda girl but we here more often then we should (with it's close proximity to the gym and target - bribery comes into play a lot). But the flavors are good, the fruit and topping selection is great and the staff has always been friendly. The spoons are fantastic too - they are great to put in the kids lunch because they are solid and yet if they get lost you don't care! I just wish they would recycle - all that plastic and paper shouldn't go into the landfill!

While this isn't really a KFroYo place--as evidenced by the name--it's the most logical comparison. Koreans are pretty smart (or lazy): we make customers grill their own meats at the table and charge them quite a bit to do so. Now, our laziest...errrr, latest innovation: DIY KFroYo. Yogiberry has done this--can you say goodbye yogihole?--and now there's Menchies in Annapolis Town Center. Food Stuffs-there are 13 flavors (vanilla is repeated) on 7 Chinese bufffet-esque machines: one lever for Flavor 1, another for Flavor 2, and the middle lever produces a swirl. The original tart was way too tart for my taste, but the red velvet, pomegranate tart, and very berry sorbet were excellent! White Chocolate Macadamia was also very good, but c(r)appuccino was pretty terrible. So whether you're into KFroYo, or flavors you're accustomed to at say TCBY, you'll likely find something you'll enjoy. As far as toppings, they have fresh fruit (black berries, strawberries, etc..), dry toppings (yogurt chips, cereals), what fatties like (brownie bits, cheesecake pieces) and caramel/hot fudge. No mochi though, which docks a star in my book. You might not think that's a big deal, but I love the chewiness that only mochi can provide, as the gummy bears and Jelly Bellies Menchies offer can't stand up to the cold froyo. You grab a cup and make your own concoction and you pay $0.44/oz, which is an excellent price point. In comparison, there's a similar shop inside Annapolis Mall near the food court, and they charge $0.48/oz. Yogiberry in College Park charges $0.45/oz. Frostberry in Laurel, which I hailed for its low price, comes out at a whopping $0.61/oz. I've yet to create one under 13 oz or under 1000 calories...what can I say? I love cheesecake. The froyo comes out painfully slow in most machines, although that may probably a good thing for controlling how your concoction looks. Service - they just opened on Wednesday and the staff is incredibly friendly. They let me sample every flavor without glaring at me. Needless to say, they weren't Asian, cuz you know they woulda started charging me and shouting "only one sampo!!!" I'm not sure if the unlimited sample thing is their MO or if it was b/c the store was brand new. Location - Very kid friendly, with a chalkboard for the kids to draw.and another room w/ hoola hoops and a bigger chalkboard. My biggest gripe with these DIY froyo places is the lack of space near the machines. Not a problem if the place is reasonably empty, but I imagine when this place gets packed in the summertime, it'll be a bit of a pain, esp. if the person in front of you samples every flavor. Plenty of seating and the inside doesn't reek of an Ikea on steroids like so many other KFroYo places. If you're near Annapolis Town Center, Menchies is definitely worth a stop.

Yum! There is a nice variety of flavors, the staff seem friendly and I think the price is reasonable. The added bonus of visiting Menchie's is that frozen yogurt has less calories than ice cream

I had never even heard of this place until my sister started working there and I am SO glad she did. Their DIY Frozen Yogurt is so yummy. Their pomegranate raspberry flavor is my favorite, mix it with some dark chocolate snow caps.. yum yum yum!!

Self serve froyo -- lots of flavor choices (there were six machines, each offering two options plus swirl) pretty fresh fruit toppings and fun dried snack toppings. The location is convenient. The store space is pleasant and clean. The staff was friendly.

Frozen yogurt -- you can't really go wrong. They have a nice selection with my favorites list currently occupied by Red Velvet, Mud Pie, and Cake Batter. The tart options are also yummy if you're in the mood. Their toppings have a variety of nuts (pecans, almonds, walnuts -- but no wet walnuts!!!) and there's almost always some sort of fresh berry in their topping bar. What really gets my 5 stars though is that they have a glassed-in party area which you can reserve for parties for...FREE! How awesome is that! Of course, if you want a birthday party and t-shirts, etc, it will cost you, but for baby showers (or other more adult-friendly functions I'm guessing...) they let you reserve the room for free -- or with the purchase of everyone's froyo, which is cheaper than anywhere else I've found. You can also bring in your own other foods and decorations. I'm very pleased! The one downside, being in Annapolis Town Centre, is that parking is a pain.

  • Dawn R.

My daughter is a huge fro-yo fan, and was disappointed to find that there really aren't that many yogurt shops in the Annapolis area. Fortunately, we were able to find Menchie's while out doing some shopping, so she was happy. Overall, the yogurt is good, they have a decent selection of toppings, and the prices are reasonable. The location isn't bad (in the Annapolis Towne Center, right next to Target), but parking can be difficult, especially if you're only going for yogurt. But if you're doing some shopping and ALSO want to stop in for yogurt, you can park in one of the garages and walk over and it's not bad. All of the parking in front of the shop is limited to 5 minutes, so don't plan to park in front and eat it there. One positive: the plastic spoons are very sturdy, so don't throw them away if you have kids!

This place is amazing! Love the froyo, great choice of toppings and very affordable. Plus they have a rewards program. Can't go wrong with Menchie's.

  • Tim D.

Located in the Annapolis Town Center, convenient if you're already here but parking can be a bear on weekends. Pros: they allow samples, they have a good variety of flavors and toppings, very clean and the staff is very accommodating. Cons: their yogurt is inconsistent in it's consistency. Although some are perfect, others are far too cold rendering the yogurt icy rather than smooth. A solid choice for frozen yogurt, but I've certainly had better.

Yum! Love their selection and cleanliness of their self-serve bar and stations. Cute branding too!

  • Brandon B.

This place was great! You get to sample and choose from a large assortment of soft served yogurts by building your own ice cream cup. Right after you've pick your style yogurts, you have a whole bar of toppings to go with it! I definitely recommend sampling the yogurts before making a whole cup of it just to be sure.
