How I heard of this place: My husband surprised me with a sweet, winter weekend in the historic town of Annapolis. He did all of the research and found this five-star rated B&B on Trip Advisor. Type of cuisine: A three-course breakfast, alternating between savory and sweet mornings. Ambiance: "Come share a day, weekend or week in the state capitol of Maryland, and all it has to offer. Our four bedroom Annapolis bed and breakfast in historic downtown is nearby the State Capital building, St. John's College, the waterfront, city dock, the U. S. Naval Academy, antique shops and fabulous Annapolis dining and entertainment, all within walking distance. "Chez Amis" in French means "Among Friends". Here you will enjoy a great breakfast, comfortable lodging and old fashioned relaxation. Each guest room has a private TV, the French country styled common area is designed for reading, conversation, and playing many games of your choice. Bananagrams and scrabble seem to be our guests' favorite. Refreshments and homemade cookies are available throughout your stay so we understand if you 'sneak downstairs' for just one last cookie. The dining area is a wonderful piece of carpentry that was built by the previous inn owner. It comfortably fits our guests but we also offer supplemental seating if you choose a more intimate table. At the lower level stairway there is a vast collection of fiction, DVD's and CD's for your enjoyment during your stay. Bring your nooks or e-reader, and use our free wireless, or use our I-Pad or mini-lap top for your convenience as well." The pictures can tell a thousand words...Enjoy this gallery of cozy, American heritage of this corner lot Georgian: What I ordered: On day one: We enjoyed our coffee service at 8:00 a.m., followed by mini scones accompanied by Michigan cherry preserves and butter. After enjoying our delicate and warm scones, we moved to the second course of poached pears in a vinegar-ginger sauce, topped off with creme fraiche. Our third, and final course: baked eggs over herbed potatoes and an artichoke-tomato salsa. There were six of us dining on day two: We began our meals with the coffee service, indulging in the recent addition of Keurig Peppermint Hot Chocolate, and moving towards the warmed, mini apple date oat bran muffins. Our second course included a small dish of thawed (frozen) blueberries mixed with honey-infused ricotta, fresh whipped cream and a dusting of cinnamon. To end our meals, we enjoyed two thin strips of bacon on the side of an Amish bread: citrus-raisin strata topped with Michigan cherry preserves, and a thin half-wedge of cantaloupe. What I loved: The favorite part of our stay included the freshly baked chocolate chip cookies available at all times of the day for a snack, a pick-me-up, or a sweet mid-afternoon treat to accompany lemon-ginger tea. The scones, made from a mix and thawed (Elly confessed!) were my favorite part of our two meals at Chez Amis. Why I loved it: Elly and her husband, Joe, are very sweet, friendly and warm. Joe maintains the carpentry and handy-man side of the business, while Elly entertains the guests and prepares the food. We were especially grateful to be upgraded to the Lady Anne Suite, in order to have a private bathroom en suite (rather than across the hall). Cost: High (approximately $200 per room per night, including breakfast)

Don and Mickie were wonderful hosts for our girls weekend away! They went above and beyond to make our birthday fabulous, complete with a delicious home-made chocolate cake. This was the only B&B in Annapolis with a room that could accommodate three of us at a reasonable rate for a one-night stay, and I'm so glad it worked out. Our room was adorable and the location couldn't have been better. Breakfast on Sunday morning was amazing, and we were lucky enough to enjoy it with Don and Mickie and a few of their family members (and of course Dixie, their miniature Dachshund). We will definitely be back.

My wife and I came here for a "baby moon" get-a-way ahead of our due date late Feb. We couldn't be happier with the accommodations! Elly was very warm and welcoming and the room (law library) is quaint and cosy. The owners have several local favorites that they recommended during our stay and offered discounts to several local merchants. What blew us away was coming "home" to our room to find a baby book gifted to us for our little one on the way. It was very nice and thoughtful and we were both very humbled. We would absolutely make a return visit next time we look for a place in Annapolis.

I spent one night here lately while in Annapolis for a foot race. The place is beautiful. Very well decorated, lovely atmosphere, and the owners are the friendliest people you will meet. There is a superbly friendly dog named Maggie who greets you with a happy wagging tail. The owners are smiley and welcoming and make you feel at home. If you want a welcoming and relaxing few nights stay this is the right place!

I love Chez Amis. Stayed here Friday night to attend a friend's retirement at the Naval Academy. The location is unbeatable and the set up is cozy and delightful. What really makes this BnB shine are the owners and their dog Maggie. Truly delightful and helpful hosts. I would recommend Chez Amis to anyone looking for an intimate stay in Maryland's capitol city.

My boyfriend and I spent the weekend of 9/14 in Annapolis for what I thought was going to be a belated birthday celebration. To my surprise, we got engaged! We stayed at Chez Amis for 2 nights and found it to be cozy and charming. The innkeeper, Elly, was sweet and welcoming, as was her dog, Maggie. The inn was warmly decorated, smelled nice, and our room was clean and comfortable. The location could not be more perfect for walking to the many shops and restaurants. We had a wonderful time and look forward to returning in the future.

Warm and welcoming, great breakfast, and a wonderful location. We were greeted by a friendly and lovely dog when we arrived and an outstanding host. Our room was comfortable and cute. We had our own bathroom, though, I think there was one room that didn't have a bathroom in their room, but down the hall. We had our own tv and a selection of DVD's in the basement to watch. The little touches of Chez Amis made our stay worthwhile. From the free wifi, iPad, and laptop to use to the DVD library to the free beverages on the top shelf of the fridge. There were homemade cookies to have and a lovely chess set. Additionally, the breakfast was fresh and delicious. A wonderful three course breakfast with such flavorful and creative dishes. I would recommend you to stay at Chez Amis. The location is perfect, the bed is comfortable, and the food is great. Not to mention the price is reasonable for all the extra goodies involved.

Great B&B with a lot of personal touches that show concern for their customers. Elly & Joe were great hosts and their location is very convenient to downtown Annapolis, where all the action is. The accommodations were very clean, the food was excellent, and bed was comfortable. We even threw them a few curve balls by bringing along our bikes (pedal) and a few envelopes that needed stamped and sent. They answered the call both times. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for an enjoyable B&B in Annapolis!

Similar to the review below, my boyfriend and I came here over my birthday weekend in January and he proposed! Chez Amis was the perfect setting-warm, cozy and Elly & Joe were amazing! I love dogs, so Maggie was the best addition. We stayed in the Chesapeake Room, which was nautical-themed. Elly was so sweet and helped with the proposal preparation of roses and champagne. She also stocks the fridge with beer and drinks, and has a very extensive movie collection. She gave us great recommendations for restaurants and bars, and we ended up going to Vin 909 for a celebration dinner, which was fantastic. Would definitely come here again for a weekend getaway.
