The burger is good. The fries were mediocre at best. The biggest disappointment was the amount of avocado I received on my burger. $1.49 for avocado and I received about 1/2 of a slice (I would guess less than half an ounce). I know that avocado can be expensive (i.e., extra at Chiptole), but at least you get a reasonable size serving. Still working out the kinks, and the staff was excellent. I'll give it another try soon.

Skip it. Just doesn't taste good. And the fries seem to be Sysco. Go to Whole Foods or the Amish Market for a better burger and fries.

Used a Groupon and tried The Burger Joint for the first time. The service was great and I thought the guy who took my order and the girl who gave me my order were both pleasant and friendly. I got The Burger and added cheese, bacon, and mushrooms and it was delicious. The burger is huge and I couldn't imagine having two patties on a sandwich - one is plenty. The only reason I didn't give this five stars is because I think the cost is a little high. My sandwich, mind you I didn't get fries or a soda, was a little over $11. But, all the ingredients were fresh and the taste was good so it would be a nice place to splurge and treat yourself. It's even better when using a Groupon! lol

SO GOOD!!!!!! Probably the best burger in Annapolis!! Everything was cooked to perfection. It tastes like it's right off the grill, the burger bun was so fresh and fluffy with sesame seeds and the french fries are so flavorful! So many options on the menu as well - definitely give it a shot!

1 star because 0 not available. Had salmon burger, it was sloppy and tasteless. The tzaziki sauce was Greek yogurt and had no flavor. The bacon was soggy. $18 for sandwich and fries. Hate this place and want my lunch back average and overpriced.

Wasn't sure I would try this place because I'm not a burger lover but as I walked by and saw someone else's plate my interest piqued. The chicken burger looked awesome. And it is! Along with the sweet potato fries! The menu is simple and easy to order from. I'll definitely return.

The man friend was craving a burger after a day of furniture shopping so we popped in here. One of the best turkey burgers I've ever had!! Simple and tastes great. A little more expensive than the average 7min burger dispensary, but worth it if you care where your food comes from.

One of my favorite things to eat is a good burger. I stopped on the new Pier 1 and saw this place. I went in, and studied the menu. The woman stood in silence as I read it. I was trying to be more healthy and low carb, and asked if I could get an unless burger. She said there was a lettuce wrapped option. I chose that and ordered the roasted asparagus. The asparagus was beyond roasted. It looked like it caught fire. The tips were black and the tough ends were not removed. The burger was good but small. However, the meal was served in a sheet of paper on a metal tray. The burger reached the point where I couldn't hold it any more because the lettuce was slipping, so I cut it up with my knife and fork. If I'm spending $14.00 for a burger and vegetables that are eaten with a fork and knife, could you throw in a paper plate? Next time, I'll go to my tried and true Red Robin.

I am very disappointed with my service/visit here. Out all morning on a day of errands when I pull into the parking lot of BGR. I've never been so I thought " I'm starving and it's hard to find a place with a good veggie burger so why not give it a try?" Well I'm glad I did so I won't have to go there again. I go in the the atmosphere is pretty lively which gets me excited. I order the veggie burger with the extra fixins' (avocado and mushroom truffle mix.) didn't take long for my burger at all which also gave me a good feeling. I went to my car just about ready to leave when I decided to take a bite o my delicious looking burger. But to find out, it had none of my extra fixings on it and the bun was extremely soggy. So since I am still there, I decided to go inside to hopefully get a fresh new veggie burger with everything I actually paid for (which was over 12 dollars just for the burger) so instead of me getting a fresh new burger.. They decide to take my already bitten burger behind the counter, slop my extras on and hand it to me in the same opened wrapper. By the tile the burger was cold and the new toppings were hot which was a gross mixture. I have a certificate in serve safe and I just cannot believe that they took my bitten burger behind the counter and gave it back to me. I threw it out once I got home and called the manager. If that wasn't bad enough he didn't seem to care all that much and really seemed like he just wanted to get me off of the phone. I don't think I'll be going back!

Overpriced, tasteless, extra greasy onion rings. For what you're paying you should get a burger that at least competes with the average fast food restaurant, but it doesn't. Bun was cold, like it had just come out of the cooler. Burger had very little flavor. No seasoning at all.

Having been to BGR in Bethesda when it oopened years ago and loving those burgers, i told my other half about how good the burgers were and we should give it a try. (note, the other half cooks burgers, steaks & ribs as his day job). What a dismal experience.... I ate my ordinary, nothing spectacular overpriced burger as i was starving. He did not eat his at all.... My order of Sweet Tater Tots was horrible - the bits of potato inside were still crunchy, - obviously the oil was way too hot when they were dunked.. The hallway floor to the restroom was dirty, the restroom could have done with some attention; the table next to us ahd a large water spill on the floor, that was ignored, until someone said something then an employee came up with some paper towels (it needed a mop). Honestly, just awful overall when compared to the consistent service, taste, cleanliness, price of another local burger chain, where fries are included in the price!

Simply not good. I heard about this place and was stoked to go. The menu seemed simple, yet tasty. I ordered a burger with everything, fries with garlic and my date ordered a veggie burger. I asked for it to be cooked medium, but after looking at the lifeless, thin and preformed patties sitting sadly upon the griddle, I knew it would come out well done. My guess was correct. Well done with one corner pink. Then I ate it. Absolutely nothing special about this. Tasted like some frozen patty you can buy at the grocery store. The Veggie burger was slathered in BBQ sauce which was not ordered. I was told that it basically sucked. Five Guys has better burgers and fries and they are much more fresh! Does anyone that likes this place really know what a burger is? I mean, if you call yourself the burger joint, you had better have hand formed, made to order burgers that are thicker than 3/4 inch! Maybe its called The Burger Joint because the only way you may find it tasty is if you smoked a big fat JOINT!

We love the Columbia location and happened to be in the Annapolis area during the holidays so we decided to try this new BGR. We were pleasantly surprised to see that this location is owned by the same people that own the Columbia location where the service is great. As always our burgers were cooked perfectly as ordered and the fries were delicious (ask for the mojo sauce!! it's our favorite way to eat the fries). My husband loves the Triple D and I always get the burger with avocado. The specialty burgers can be pricey but well worth the splurge. Happy to see this great burger place open in another location!

We have been here a few times already. Service is always quick and friendly. Order is always repeated back to make is what we asked for. The last two times we have been able to redeem both offers they have when you check in. 6.00off of 25.00 and 5.00 off a box when you buy a box for 8.99 Clean and comfortable atmosphere. The food takes a bit but they cook it as soon as you order it and it's always really good. No complaints here. We will be back and enjoy my lettuce wrapped veggie burger with sweet potato fries. Yum!!

Edited to cover 2 visits: Today was my first time in. Customer service was excellent. They were helpful and friendly and explained my options. I actually was given the choice of medium well, medium, or well done which surprised me because I have never had that option in a burger place. The burger was super thick and cooked and prepared as I asked and had a good grilled -type flavor. The fries were excellent. Thicker than fast food ones and not greasy. I ordered the package and I'm reducing stars because it wasn't until I got home and started drinking my tea from their machine that I discovered that their button for UNSWEETENED tea is NOT unsweetened...it is sweet tea. I have diabetes and never drink sweet tea and my blood sugar shot way up after drinking it. Ammendment to my first review after I just had visit #2: I dropped in tonight to pick up dinner to take home. There were only 2 other customers before me. The woman at the register looked apathetic and never smiled or looked at me pleasantly once...actually she basically looked like she just didn't want to be there. I ordered their 'monthly special': a salmon blt and onion rings. Subtotal: $18 and change! Holy moses! Granted the onion rings are REALLY thick and very good and the salmon burger was like 5" thick with lettuce tomato and bacon on it and real good salmon. The food is good but the prices and apathetic service are enough to question returning...

I recently went to this location for the first time after eating exclusively at the Columbia, MD location previously. Frankly, not having a Coke Freestyle machine is a buzzkill and makes buying a drink a horrible value. If I want Diet Coke I will pay a buck at McDonald's, but not 2.19 or whatever it is. I usually go with beef but got a Turkey Burger in the Bowl after seeing the calorie counts (I think the beef on a bun is 800 before any toppings). Of course I added a fried egg but stop judging me I was in a fowl mood. Holy crap did I just bust that shitty pun out? Anyways the Turkey Burger is beyond delicious. They must baste it in butter because it's super moist and earthy and complex. The mushrooms and cheese inside the patty really made it the best turkey burger I have ever had. But really, the burger bowl is a joke for a 1 dollar up-charge. Maybe one small roma tomato cut up and a few onion slice and cucumbers. They did nail the egg though, which was rare and runny and delicious. Apparently some people hate that though so be warned. That said, at 12.50 for the bowl it was quite an expensive (allegedly) 350 calories. Next time I will spend 7 bucks on the beef burger and just get off my ass more to compensate.

I would say this place has pretty decent burgers but overpriced. Having to pay for extra toppings like avocado and bacon is kind of ridiculous. If you go during the week they have a combo deal but on the weekends they don't offer that. We found that out the hard way the last time we went haha! It was about 16 dollars for me and my wife the first time during the week. We went again on the weekend and got the combos and it was around 30 dollars! Probably, won't be going back unless it's during a weekday.

While visiting the new and improved Pier 1 in Annapolis, I saw a brand new burger spot....well, brand new to me. Located right next door to the Pier 1, BGR (The Burger Joint) is a quirky little restaurant that sells burgers, hot dogs, fries, onion rings, shakes and other burger joint specialties. The decor included a flat screen tv on the wall, pictures of rockers/singers and cool table tops. Seeing as though this was my first time here, Jasmine, the employee taking the order, was very patient and welcoming. She walked me through the menu and explained my options. I ordered "The Legend" burger and added an extra patty...what can I say, I was hungry. The only free toppings you can get are tomatoes, onions, mojo sauce, lettuce and pickles. All other toppings cost extra, even the cheese....sigh! You can either dine in or take out, but keep in mind, their aren't a lot of tables. I opted to take my food home. The burger was seasoned really well. The fries had a taste to them that I didn't really like. They were packaged in a cute carry-out box, but they were pretty bland. All and all, it was a good meal, but the price is a little too much for a burger. Perhaps I'm spoiled by Five Guys and all of their free toppings, but I don't think a burger meal should cost $14. IJS...

Been to BGR a few times before in and around DC, and never particularly impressed. Got a coupon and thought we'd try it out for dinner tonight. Just okay, nothing to write home about. I had the Legend with cheese, and girlfriend had the Wellington. Kudo's that they let you select how you'd like it cooked. Mine M/R her's M. The presentation puts Five Guys to shame, really nicely plated. The burgers were okay but the bun didn't seem to hold up to the juice (grease?). Also, the place is rather soulless (as is Five Guys, Smashburger, Elevation Burger etc).. I would rather be at a pub having a draft beer with a burger because that is how I think a burger should be! Maybe it's just me but we not likely repeat.

Mission BBQ was closed so we went here. $26 for a burger, fries, side salad, grilled chx sand, 2 drinks. Order taker asked what we wanted on burger after we'd only ordered the chicken sand. Acted like she didn't comprehend anything we said. Said we all wanted drinks and we got one cup. Said where are the other cups so she gave us 2 more, but charged for 2. Will not be back.

What's with all this yelp hatorade? Never been to a BGR before so the girl at the counter was really patient as I tried to navigate the menu, which I found to be pretty busy and tough to figure out...this is from a newb's perspective. I'm sure veterans probably don't find this to be the case. Anywho, I figured I'd keep it simple and as close to a Five Guys or Elevation Burger experience as possible for a fair comparison. I ordered a Create your own Legend single patty with cheddar, and made it a meal, which included fries and a drink. I initially wanted to double it (Five Guys style) but asked the pleasant cashier what her thoughts were on this, and she said "Oh no...a single is plenty, especially with fries. That's a lot of food." I appreciated her honesty and, most importantly, she was right! She also hooked me up with a free BGR card - after buying 10 burgers, you get a free one. The wife got a similar meal, but got cheese and grilled jalapeños on hers (cheese is 99 cents extra and the jalapeños were 75 cents extra...adds up!). Our total was just over $23, so I think it was slightly on the pricey side but our burgers were cooked perfectly to our liking. We got to pick how we would like the burgers cooked during the ordering process by the way...nice touch. Good-sized burgers made with quality ground beef, fries that aren't soggy with grease (sorry Five Guys, but that's you), and really friendly staff all add up to a pretty darn good dining experience. Ding for the price and the fact that they don't have one of those cool Coca Cola machines that dispenses a million flavors of every kind of beverage imaginable. Ok, I'm reaching. Anyway, we'll probably still hit up Five Guys whenever we're in the mood for a burger of this nature just because of the distance to the crib, but this place deserves more than 2.5 stars. C'mon people.

Went to BGR after arriving to originally go to Mission BBQ. I had been to Mission several times before and was honestly bored of BBQ and wanted to try something new. More than happy that I walked into BGR. From what I could tell by the one time being there, the burgers are cooked to order and fresh, not frozen. The cashier asked how I would like my burger cooked, and they nailed it. Perfectly cooked medium burger. I didn't want to go too overboard on the extras like a cooked egg and other adds. Just wanted to taste the burger. Excellent food, reasonably priced. IMO, better than Five Guys.

Bottom Line: Good burgers, average everything else. Ahh, yes, it is about time that high-end burger joints take over the East Coast. The burger craze has just about hit its zenith in SoCal and since those trends seem to migrate here, I think BGR has some real potential to do well. Of course I think BGR also has some shortcomings that could easily be overcome by the next entrant into this market. Here is my take-away on my BGR experience: - The burger was very good. A tender patty topped with fresh produce and melted cheddar cheese situated between a buttery sesame seed bun. - The sweet potato fries were just average and definitely in need of seasoning. I don't usually salt my food, but these need salt, and lots of it. The portion was big enough for sharing. - They have Coca-Cola products and iced tea on fountain. - Service was friendly enough but the guy taking my order either wasn't listening or had short term memory less. After ordering a burger with cheese and a side of fries, I had to answer questions about if I wanted cheese on my burger or any fries. Maybe that's the joint part of The Burger Joint. ;-) - It did take what felt like a while to get the food out but I chalked that up to being the first customer of the day or the food being freshly made. I didn't mind the wait since I wasn't in a rush but if I wanted to drop in to pick up lunch, the wait would have been too long. - The theme to me is very disjointed. The logo is a European bumper sticker, the table tops are a fake mosaic pop-art and the wall has record covers on them. I don't really understand how any of these things go together. To make matters worse, the workmanship on the tables and record covers seems kind cheap. Moreover, the chairs at tables resembles chairs from a high school classroom. (I understand why another Yelper compared the interior to Chuck E Cheese or Discovery Zone.) For me, the ambience took away from the yummy burger. A more cohesive design would pull this concept together much better and make this eatery more credible.

I took hubs for an impromptu lunch date today. I've seen a few BGR's in DC but there isn't adequate parking for me to go in. I got a chance to visit the one in Annapolis which has adequate parking so here are my thoughts. The Good: The burgers were cooked well and they were seasoned perfectly. The cookie was awesome and had 2 types of chocolate in it. The Bad: The onion rings weren't that great. The indoor decor wasn't too impressive. The Ugly: Our check! It was flat out disrespectful. They charged extra for everything. 33 dollars for 2 burgers 1 order of onion rings, 2 Cokes and a cookie.

Not bad, not cheap, not speedy, but also not seasoned. I am encouraged by this brand-new spot by the quality of the ingredients. Probably the best burger this side of Bayridge. I had the triple D in a lettuce wrap to indulge my low carb diet. He had the Wellington with fries. The fries were respectable but from view of the table next to us, the Onion Rings look to be the side to add. Nice staff, clean and squeaky new.

Underwhelming at best. When we got to the restaurant the food on the menu looked expensive yet promising. Unfortunately the food was not tasty. The veggie burger was as dry as the Sahara desert. The buns on the hamburger were dry and barely edible. On the way to use the restroom, the floors were so slippery with grease, it felt like ice skating. The restaurant would benefit from some quality control and cleaning.

Very Good Burger. Average Experience. The burger with cheddar cheese and bacon was very good. No complaints. It was fresh, well cooked and served on a nice sesame seed roll. Everything else was absolutely average in quality and highly priced. Fries are the classic accompaniment to a burger. When you're serving a high end (quality and price) burger, you should do much better than frozen fries. They were well prepared and served hot, but they were absolutely average. Frozen, pre-made and completely unseasoned. It would take so little to raise the standard here. My wife ordered a lettuce wrapped burger. Again, the burger was very good. The presentation was good. But charging a dollar for two tiny pieces of pineapple was a poor plan. She avoided any other toppings to avoid the extra charges. To succeed, this place needs much better fries, a rethought pricing strategy and a better interior decorator. Are 70s and 80s album covers a theme? How do they relate to burgers? And why is there both music and a TV with soccer on? When we were there, Sunday lunch, there were four tables occupied. This place is going to get killed by Mission BBQ. If I'm within two miles of BGR and I'm hungry, I'd go to Mission BBQ.

I am usually against reviewing places that are new for obvious reasons but looking at the reviews for their other locations I felt OK with it. I ordered a Grilled Chicken Breast "Spiced Up" in a lettuce wrap. What I received was a small sized lukewarm tasteless chicken breast, 4 grilled jalapeno slices, slice of pepper jack and a sauce with a piece of lettuce laid on top. Just laid on top, not wrapped. The price was very high, $12.... yeah, for a small piece of chicken breast. I ended up eating it with a fork since you couldn't eat it like it was purchased. I tried it, end of story. Maybe it'll get better, but as I said earlier, other locations reviews speak for themselves.

Disappointing, expensive and so not worth the money. Customer service was TERRIBLE! Nothing special about the hamburger, or the chicken sandwich we ordered. The food was room temp when it finally arrived after 25 minutes. If they had been slammed, that could have been given a pass, however, they weren't!! First and last time going there...there are places that are cheaper, with much better customer service and the food tastes far better. Would give it zero stars if I could....

Hello Vegan Burger! The fries are so amazing every time and they have old bay for them. They sweet potato fries are good too. Everyone that works there is super nice and check on you at your table. I even got a VIP card and already have gotten a free burger. I don't understand why people give 3 stars - it's 5 star all the way.

First and probably last visit today at lunch. Here's why: Ordered burger "medium" (pink). It came out well done (brown). Note: partner ordered medium rare. His was between medium and well done. I bit twice into gristle (small pieces, no cracked teeth; but still ...). Meat was dry and tasteless. Fries--bleck. Obviously frozen, not hand cut. What you give your kids when you're in a hurry. Why bother? I'd rather get potato chips if the restaurant doesn't hand cut their fries and fry 'em on the spot. I did like the sliced red onion and malt vinegar at BGR. With so many good burgers sold in Naptown, why go here? (And just a few doors away is Mission BBQ with some of the best smoked pulled pork and brisket on the planet.)

Great Burgers and great Hot Dogs (when I feel like a change). Grilled Asparagus is my favorite side dish, although the Fries are very good too. Owner, Topper Person is very "hands on" in the kitchen and very personable with the clientele.

First time at this place... Next to Pier 1. The wait to order was a tad long, only one cashier. Food is made to order and took a good 20 minutes but no complaints because it was delicious! I made my own burger with avocado and grilled pineapple...amazing!!

Thought this was pretty good. You can definitely taste the difference. Free roaming non hormone etc. prices are what I expected. This isn't fast food although the casual atmosphere may give that sort of vibe. We tried the regular, Geek lamb, and the Cuban.

I had the wellington with grilled asparagus and once I receive my order the receipt number order was attached to the toothpick on top of my burger I'm like that's is not cool but took it off and the meal taste great willing to come back .

Super average and over priced. The place has a terrible layout; you can't read the menu without blocking the line in front of the register. The decor and ambience has a very discovery zone/chuckee cheese feel. The food is really average. Just not exciting or flavorful. It is expensive (all the burger toppings and fixings cost extra). We had 1 soda, two mediocre burgers and fries for 23$. Blech. Go eat somewhere else.

First time here. The burger is 6.99 plus tax. I rhought it was worth it its pretty good sized. Filled me up it was mediun, as i ordered it. Seasoned well Just don't try to eat it in the car to juicy.

Pricey. Nickled and dimed for every topping. $2.33 for a fountain drink. Food was pretty good. I had the Cuban. Wife had the Wellington. Burgers were tasty but the Wellington's sauce topping was too salty. Only went here because Mission BBQ was closed.
