I am fairly new to Northampton but there is something very strange going on here. There is a world class tapas restaurants sitting under utilized and unappreciated in your own backyard. Ibiza Tapas is one of the finest tapas restaurants I have ever dined at. The food is beautifully prepared with perfectly fresh ingredients in a sophisticated manner by an obviously talented chef. The waitstaff are friendly and knowledgeable and the food is sublime. If you have never been to this restaurant you must go. If you have been, go again! It is unbelievable to me that this place is not packed every night. The food is indescribably delicious and beautiful and it has to be the best bargain in town. Go and enjoy this gem of a restaurant before you lose it.

We ate at Ibiza last night and while I would definitely give it another try, some of our experience was mixed. Like someone else said, I really hoped to love this place. We started with the wilted spinach which was way too salty. I'm not a salt fan, but even my partner found it too salty to order ever again. We had roasted asparagus, which were good but not knock your socks off, which was how we also felt about the sea bass. The high point of the meal was the fideua, which were filling and tasty. My partner also had chorizo with potato and lentil, which he liked a lot. Dessert was fine; I wouldn't order it again though. I liked the colorful bar. There were a zillion servers for a weeknight, even at Christmas. Someone mentioned that they took the menus too soon and I would agree with that. Our server also took our plates before we were done eating and had to reset our place. Anyway, the Sangria was awesome, and I'm not a big Sangria drinker. I would go back just for that, but you better like it sweet. It's a cute place. I would give it another try, but order differently.

I will probably give this place another few chances. I like tapas and it's way too convenient to avoid. I'm hoping subsequent visits will change my initial impression. The good stuff: the bartender suggested a wine and it rocked! I was planning on 1 glass but so tasty had a 2nd. That was sweet! A Temparanillo, Plenta (or some spelling very close to that). The food came out super fast, which doesn't have to be a bad thing, it wasn't busy, but here's what it made me think. Cheese plate - anemic looking, sad, but if delicious, would have been forgiven. It was cold. Bah. Nice cheese should be room temp. Felt like it was just pulled from the fridge already plated. No idea if true but that is where your mind goes when you get your cheese plate in 7 seconds with cold cheese. Other plates fine enough, but nothing exceptional or even interesting. Dessert - overly ambitious combo that didn't work well together and again, fast fast fast and too cold. And what up with the bar? It angles up so you can't fit your legs underneath. Forces a lady to straddle her seat. Weird. If you are very short, a small child or double leg amputee - no worries.

My partner and I discovered Ibizas from their downright spectacular arrangement of tapas at a local wine wine tasting. The restaurant, however, was a bit of a disappointment. We started off with two dishes, (our first choice, the lamb, was out of stock...at the beginning of the weekend, really?) and had to stop the bleeding and end the night there. I'm sorry, but $6 for a bowl of off-tasting (maybe bad honey?) chopped bell peppers covered with tasteless almonds is a bit much. And the spinach croquets were a bit too soupy inside for my taste- with a sauce on the outside that, while it probably is homemade, left me thinking I just ate a fried ball of greenish mayo dipped in some tomato-ish flavored mayo on the outside. Service was ok. But staff vibe came across as uncomfortable and awkward but I think it was because the restaurant was surprisingly quiet at 7:30PM on a Friday night. (These bad reviews probably aren't helping any.) Wine was good - I think they did listen to reviews and adjust their pour- and a couple of the plates that walked by on their way to other tables showed promise too. Not sure I'd take another chance here.

This was AMAZING. We had a groupon and had been meaning to check it out but would and are totally going back. We are from Philly where the food choices are amazing and so is the good, since we've moved up here we've found a few restaurants that were good../ but not amazing. This restaurant was just that. We ordered 5 tapas for 2 people which was more than enough food. They included, veal meatballs, chicken and chorizo, egg omelet and chorizo, a pork dish and our last one was this perfect pulled Lamb overtop of a chickpea mash and it was to die for. The wine? Perfect. They have a great wine list and also Sangria which was right on point. We can't stop talking about this place and would absolutely go again.

After trying Ibiza Tapas Wine Bar at 7 Strong Avenue in Northampton, Massachusetts, on a Groupon, we were totally sold--in love with this place. Owner Juan's mission is to share the hospitality, culture, music, and gastronomy of Spain with his patrons, and he succeeds in flying, rich red and orange colors, smiles, flamenco music, and some of the best tapas we have ever experienced. If you go, start with, well, anything! There isn't a disappointing tapas in the very lovely menu of traditional and modern tapas. We love the octopus in potato foam, the fresh anchovies on toast, the amazing goat cheese with figs, walnuts, truffle oil with a side of arugula, and the vegetable dishes, and on the entree side of the menu, the salt crusted sea bass with potatoes, pine nuts, garlic raisins, and carrot comfit, all with smoked paprika oil. Juan says, his mother tried this the first day of her visit and ordered it every day after that. We can see why. The melding of sweet and savory with the perfectly prepared fish is memorable. We did stray on one visit and had the paella, and it was fine, but we missed the tapas variety, so probably will stick to tapas. Desserts are unique and amazing too--Catalan, creme brûlée, bread pudding, drunken apple pastry--are all so worth eating, and if you are very, very generous, sharing. Juan is the perfect host, and is always there, greeting his guests and assuring that every single order is exactly right. Sometimes he's in the kitchen, but he will always wander out to say hi. This is the place you take your honored guests and visitors to New England to, and this is the place that inspires to you visit Spain--which we are now planning to do.

Athough I understand the concept of this establishment it is lost on me by usage of the eclectic westernized decor. Although nice it missed the mark. The tapas...tasty but small. Your server will tell you tapas are to share with others, but believe me there is not enough. Four cubes of steak on four slices of toast is not sharable. I suggest buying a portion (not tapas) of paella if you are hungry but beware. The menu says you can't order paella unless you are ordering for two people and the cost is $15 for one plate. When your check arrives, you will find that they have charged you for TWO PEOPLE as if you have ordered two separate entrees. The total cost for one PLATE of paella is $30. Deceptive to say the least. Also, the shell fish was not cleaned properly. I could still taste the sand. Our waitress was inattentive and had to be waved over several times during the meal. While our server was lost to waiting on too many tables, there were other servers standing around with nothing to do. When I tried to ask one of them a question, I was cut off and told he was not my server. He walked away and never relayed to my actual server that we needed her. Glad I used a Groupon because it was not worth the full price. The last nail in the coffin was waiting 20 min for the check. Don't worry. She still received a tip, but just 15%. While I do enjoy seeing managers/owners of businesses on staff, I did not enjoy this one. He paced the restaurant, staring at every person with a look of doom and gloom on his face. I don't know what was on his mind, but I felt like a kid waiting to be reprimanded by a parent.

Super-inconsistent, regarding both the food and the waitstaff, but with the occasional absolute gem in the mix!

Oh man, this was really underwhelming. I don't mean to get all "New York" on you or anything, but maybe this is the best Northampton can do in terms of tapas. My disclaimer is that while we don't proclaim to be experts on Spanish tapas, we have had enough awesome tapas restaurants (in NYC and abroad) to know that this place really fell short. Let's get down to the specifics. The decor fell short. The lights were really abrasive in one side of the restaurant, and since we wanted this to be a romantic date night, we asked to be moved to the darker side. The light still was a bit weird, but definitely better. The wall color and decorations were a little bit on the tacky side. This review is about to get really harsh. The food was not great. It started out promising but then got worse as each new dish was delivered. Garlic shrimp - this was perhaps the best dish of the night. Richly flavored. Sauteed spinach - also delicious, nicely wilted, had some raisins and sauteed peppers. Crab Croquettes - it was ok, nothing to write home about. Octopus in potato foam - it's not potato foam, It's mashed potato served in a martini glass with two octopus skewers submerged in it. The martini glass plating really made me feel like they were trying too hard. Pork shank crispy ravioli - the ravioli skin was too hard, like Chinese spring rolls. I was expecting a lighter fillo wrap. Special tapas: rabbit - The rabbit portion was too large, so it felt like we were eating an entire cornish hen each. It was also dry and flavorless. Salt-baked sea bass - here's the kicker. This is supposed to be a main entree, and when I read "salt-baked sea bass", I expect an actual salt encrusted sea bass where they give you a freakin' mallet to break it open. That's what I'm used to having at other Spanish tapas places. Instead, we're served a mostly-tasteless sometimes-fishy fillet of lukewarm bass atop the SAME ingredients that were in the spinach dish. Like the check didn't even bother to make something different. The vegetables at the bottom of it were actually pretty tasty, but overall, we took one bite of that fish and left it on the plate. Nevertheless, nothing compares to good company and a positive attitude. We had a great time, the waitstaff was fantastic, and we laughed about it. I just wish we hadn't spent $130 on an unsatisfying meal with zero Spanish flavors to be found.

Went for brunch menu after being here for 3 dinners prior. All dinners were delicious. Specifically reviewing new brunch menu. Brunch specific items limited but we're amazing. We had pork and veal sliders and pulled lamb sub. Both were served on fresh delicious bread, hot and meat spiced perfectly. Both also came with fried potatoes with a flavored crema and maybe a paprika based sauce. By far, my favorite part of the meal was dessert . . . The homemade CHURROS that melt in your mouth with a cup of thick hot chocolate. They are ONLY on the brunch menu and I pleaded with the owner to put them on the regular menu!! They're THAT GOOD!! They are definitely a culinary experience you should have there!

Went there with a groupon, was extremely loud and very little privacy . Food was ok, wasn't overly surprised. The service was the only issue, one waiter , and he seemed like he didn't want to be there. Kind of rude. The only time I'll go there is with a groupon. Overpriced

My first foray to a tapas bar in Massachusetts outside metro Boston. Wow! Everything from the chick peas served while perusing the menu through the final flan: we were totally pleased. Try the tuna, the mussels, crab coquettes. It was delicious, honest, fresh, creative food served up right We sat at the bar - very friendly extra-competent bartender. We really just liked the whole relaxed, friendly ( non-New Yorky pretentious) Northampton vibe to the place. Juan, the owner/manager is there and attentive to customers needs without being overbearing. Will definitely go back.

If this restaurant were more moderately priced, I would give them a much higher rating. It wasn't terrible, but it was very inconsistent. For the prices, I count on an overall great experience and this one had ups and downs. I really like tapas and I liked the atmosphere and attitude of Ibiza (music, lighting, etc.). The service was good. It was the food that fell short in places, I'm sorry to say. On the plus side, the marinated tuna was excellent as was the grilled pork loin. Both had delicious, complex flavors and the dishes were beautiful. On the downside, the roasted vegetables were very pretty (stacked in a column with several sauces) but turned out to be an overcooked pile of mush. The pork ribs were too fatty for us (and that may just be our preference) but the sauces and potatoes with them were excellent. The chocolate mousse is not well described as it seems to have additional flavors not noted on the menu (orange and coconut?). If the food had been good all around, it would be a great place to take a group to order and share a bunch of plates. It had several highlights but I prefer to spend the same (or more) and get a series of fantastic dishes or spend less and get less interesting, complex dishes.

This place is awesome, one of my top 3 favorite places to get dinner in the Pioneer Valley. Go here with one to three other people and share lots of little, delightful plates of tapas. Everything is honestly great, high quality ingredients and authentic Spanish recipes. My favorites are the Nevat cheese and the Serrano ham on bread with tomato. They also have, hands-down, the best sangria in the Valley. Get the classic red wine sangria and you will NOT be disappointed! Splitting a pitcher (each person gets a good 2.5-3 glasses) for two is great for a girls' night out or a date.

We had a groupon (and am glad we did because it was somewhat pricey). That said, I absolutely loved the steak tapas and the roasted vegetables tapas. I would probably return, but more for an appetizer, rather than a full meal (if you consider 2 tapas a full meal). The music was great and the waiter was nice and attentive. Overall, I enjoyed the experience.

Aweful ! Plates crazy over priced left hungry and they would not honor the groupon I purchased! Sangria had no alcohol!!! Bad bad bad they will be closed by the end of the year!!! Rip off and bad service !!! Go somewhere else in noho !!!

Very very very disappointing! I have been to similar exquisite restaurants in Portugal, The part of Portugal that I want to Borders Spain so the restaurants in that area are very similar. Here are some of my disappointments about this restaurant. 1) Almost everything on the menu was extremely overpriced. 2) The Seafood paella was not what I expected it lacked strong flavor that I was anticipating it was also loaded with to much butter...... very disappointing. 3) The octopus in a foam type potato is definitely a scam......on the menu it sounds very appealing, on the menu it says you get octopus and some type of potato foam. So they call it, but what you really get his two little small pieces of octopus on skewers in a martini glass filled with some mashed potato with some type of mustard coloring, I am a big eater I have a very big appetite for a small person however just two little pieces of octopus on skewers that's outlandishly priced?????? Extremely disappointing. 4) now however the squid in its own ink, I have to say that's not too bad however there is a certain level of taste with this dish that makes you feel as though it's kind of or maybe from a can but it is at the same time still really good but not sure if it's from a can, it's really hard to say I give this dish a 50-50 meaning I don't know if it's authentic then again it might be authentic and not from a can or a bag but the jury will remain out on this one. My overall opinion is I give this restaurant one star due to lack of taste in food and they're extremely high prices the staff is very friendly and willing to assist you on choosing an entrée. Place itself is not as fancy as you would think it would be and being a Saturday night you would think that the place would be packed especially the bar which no one was sitting up after seeing the prices on the menu and experiencing the food it became clear to me as well.

We had a really great experience here; the food was so delicious; the space was clean and well lit; the wait staff was helpful , checked in with us frequently, kept refilling our water ; and while a bit more money than I would like to spend- the quality of food was well worth it. It seems like from the past reviews that you need to pick the right tapas so below is a list of our favorites starting with the most favorite though even the last ones were really delicious: Lamb raviolis Hangar steak Roasted asparagus with Serrano ham Spanish tortilla Garlic shrimp Crab croquettes Roasted vegetables

This is one of my top 3 favorite restaurants. The service is pretty good. The atmosphere is chill and quiet. The food is truly cuisine! My favorite dishes are the the chicken and chorizo, garlic shrimp and the roasted vegetable crepes. During the warm months the ceviche is perfect on a hot night. The wine is served at perfect temps and the food always leaves me wanting more. This is my #1 place to get a meal when i come to noho ma. You will not be dissapointed. Best tapas place i have visited thus far!

This place is awesome! It's our 5th time here and every meal has been great! Tonight we had Pork Ribs and potatoes - fabulous!!! Also enjoyed the Short Ribs in Oatmeal Beer. The Avocado and Beet dish is wonderful - I was skeptical because beets are not my favorite food, but this was great. We love coming here and experimenting. It has always ended well! Come here!! One of the best places in Northampton!!!

Had a ridiculously delicious 9-course dinner here and I'd come back again anytime! Everything was good but I'll rate all the dishes from my favorites first, least favorites last. Figs stuffed with cheese wrapped in ham -MUST TRY THESE! Lamb stuffed peppers Vegetable crepes Hangar steak Crab croquettes Pork raviolis Braised short ribs - not great. Calamari - if you're into the tentacles and all that, go for it. Our was served cold like it was waiting out so it wasn't very good. We finished with bread pudding which wasn't really meant to share but tasted good. All of this served 3 people and we were very full, we needed to be rolled out of there.

Everything that we selected or was recommended by our waitress was delicious. We had the Serrano ham, pork shank with potatoes, and mussels with chorizo. We finished with the chocolate croquettes. The service was prompt and polite. A definite must in a competitive area.

I've eaten here on a number of occasions and the food is always AMAZING. I've eaten in many Northampton restaurants, and this is by far my favorite. The food and presentation is always consistently fabulous. My personal favorite is the Nevat goat cheese, and my fiance loves the squid cooked in it's own ink. We both really enjoy the Octopus with potato foam as well. There is a great variety of food in regards to "playing it safe" and being a little more "adventurous." The service is always great, and we've never had any complaints. I also love that we are encouraged to take our time here, rather than being pushed out like many other restaurants. One time we spent over 2 hours eating, choosing one tapa for each of us at a time. We've also ordered 4 or 5 altogether if we're in more of a rush. Our experiences at Ibiza sum up to this: Usually, when we eat out we are simply "eating" a meal at a restaurant. At Ibiza, I feel like we are truly dining, having a special experience that goes above and beyond a typical nights dinner.

I've been to Ibiza Tapas many times, and I was really struggling on the number of stars. The food IS VERY GOOD here, but something about this restaurant never fully fulfills. Aside from the owner, who certainly is well-intentioned, stalking miserably around the venue, the service has always been a bit strange, and the atmosphere not quite warm. If it wasn't so overpriced, I think it would be far more popular. The food REALLY IS good, but other factors are preventing this restaurant from being a Northampton standout.

Great experience, the Paella Valenciana exceeded my expectations. The seafood was cooked to perfection and the rice was out of this world. I loved the lemon in the middle, it really helped to balance the saffron and seafood flavors. The chorizo and pork gave the infused the dish with the needed salt, without overpowering the dish. Although I would have loved to a see a few more shrimp on the plate, they were jumbo sized and along with the rest of the proteins (i.e. chicken, chorizo, clams, mussels etc) gave you the full spectrum of the sea in this classic. This was the first time I tried Paella but struck me as a sort of cajun-style "jambalaya" dish. The rice was surprisingly moist but not soggy. As for Tapas we only had one, the slow cooked lamb in the red pepper. It was a great start to the meal. Just the right balance of rustic flavors in this dish.

Not the best tapas experience. Instead of bringing out our tapas choices slowly and one at a time they brought everything out at once and the night felt rushed... Quite the opposite of what we were expecting.

If I could give no stars, I would. This s&*€hole was louder than any bar in the valley, I couldn't hear the person across from me. The service was terrible, we were frequently ignored during our two hours of waiting around for food. I was even less impressed with the food than the service. Mediocre is a generous description, and it cost $80 between two people. My suggestion: go ANYWHERE else in the area, don't waste your time and money at this terrible establishment.

I went here with a group of 4 others and had a great experience. We started off by getting 2 pitchers of Sangria; Peach and the traditional red. Both were very delicious; the red complimented our food a little bit better because the peach was sweeter. We were adventurous with dinner and tried dishes like squid in its own ink, octopus, figs, and lamb stuffed peppers with crunchy chickpeas. Everything was delicious! The octopus in potato foam and the chocolate croquettes are a MUST try! Our server was also excellent and recommended some delicious dishes! My only critique is that the cost of a meal adds up quick. We found a groupon for half off and that worked out great for us. Without it probably would have been around $30 a person with drinks. Overall an excellent find, great atmosphere, and delicious food.

Not a place that I'll race to return to. Not too many people in the place for a busy evening in NOHO. We picked up a groupon for it so it made it worthwhile to eat out. Split a number of tapas and a few glasses of wine. We missed out on the half price apps at the bar (until 6:30) which would have been a good way to sample without as much of $$. Also there was a guy playing guitar throughout dinner, it made for interesting background music. Which helped to balance the horrible phone set up at the hostess desk. The best bite we had was the baby squid in their own ink a real bold flavor that we both liked. The other strong choice for us was the calamari, it was served with a cool couscous and citrus side that made it fun to eat. We also tried to get the croquettes advertised as lump crab meat, came instead with cod. Seems like they have changed it as an item, but not changed it on the menu. Nothing special. Most of the aioli seems to be mostly mayo not really as exciting as we had hoped.

Enjoyed both a Paella and the Noho Restaurant Week fair, both with large groups. The service is excellent during the non-restaurant week event, restaurant week can be a little crazy so I give them a bit of a pass. The food was all excellent, Paella Valenciana was better than expected, interior is well done and the staff was just great. Worth the trip.

I'd rate the food as 3.5 out of 5 stars, but that's not why I decided to review Ibiza. To put it simply, the service there was horrible; I'd say about .5 out of 5 stars. First of all, it took our waiter over 20 minutes to even ask for our initial drink order, which may be the longest I have ever waited for someone to take my drink order--strike one. After finally receiving our drinks, we ordered a few different tapas dishes, which were admittedly pretty unique and tasty. However, they entirely forgot about one of our orders, brought another one to the wrong table, and brought two others to our table that weren't ours. We eventually had to waive down a server to find our missing order because our waiter was MIA--strike two. On top of it all, our waiter (Sam) barely checked in with us and never once asked how the food was--strike three. Unfortunately, three strikes and you're out! Although their food was decent, their service was extremely subpar, and they will not be getting my business again.

Had dinner here with family and it was just.. Underwhelming. We had lots of choices for dinner, but I was the one that chose tapas. The waitress was friendly but was always hovering at all the wrong times. The sangria was good, tried the special berry sangria. I also liked the several different types of sangrias and wines they had available. The food though, it was rough. Boyfriend and I shared 6 plates. 1st: A special, Tomato and Cucumber Gazpacho. Weird baby food color topped with pine nuts and an apple slice? No seasoning, no flavor. Very bland. 2nd: Salad of apples, pecorino, arugula, ginger, balsamic. Not bad, but probably the best dish I had. All I could taste was the ginger. 3rd: Spicy potatoes. This is when my tummy started killing me. Home fries with spicy ketchup mayo on top. 4th: Grilled Veggies, soggy and just a whole onion and not much else. 5th: Salt Cod "turnovers", with raisins. Weird sweet, fishy taste and texture. Looked like baklava and tasted just weird and gross. 6th: Tuna with homemade waffle chips with olives. Waffle chips ok, tuna half frozen and fishy. All 4 of us felt sick that night and the next day. :( So much for tapas.

We stopped in on a Saturday night without a reservation. The place was busy, but my no means full. The decor is very nice with the bar side separated from the dining side. We ate at the bar side. The hostess and wait staff were very attentive and knowledgable about the menu. The menu is a tapas menu some traditional and some are more modern. Between the 4 people at the table we had 8 kind of tapas including one dessert. We started with Ensalada Moderna also known as a salad with grilled watermelon. The salad was delicious. We were split about the grilled watermelon. I really like it. We also had on the table assortment of Roasted Vegetable which everyone really enjoyed. My personal favorite, as well as another diner at our table was the Fried calameri with roasted piquillo pepper aioli. This is not the breaded and fried calameri served at so many restaurants. This the the whole calameri lighted fried (tasted more grilled). If you like calameri this is a good one. The only real disappointment was the traditional Paella which was very bland. The rice was good but the seafood had virtually no favor. For dessert we shared the Chocolate and almond croquettes. This is 4 taste on a plate and very delicious. This was a great find of a little restaurant in Northampton.

It took me a surprisingly long time to eat here. Oops, the food is fantastic. Beautifully presented, delicious, unusual food with wonderful service. We ate here several times and got a wide selection of tapas. There were no bad dishes and several were amazing. Try the short ribs, dates and bacon, Beets and avoocado. We had a mixed berry sangria which worked its magic on us.

I'm a huge fan of Tapas. But I am also a huge fan of Trader Joe's. And paying for Trader Joe's flat bread with slices of canned beats or hockey puck instant potatoes covered with dog food is not my idea of a fine tapas restaurant. My Rioja was also probably open for too long with too much air-cork space. It tasted like bad raisins. I am only barely giving two stars because I like Trader Joe's. But next time I am just going to Trader Joe's.

I'm surprised this place doesn't have better reviews. I tried a glass of both the red and white sangrias and enjoyed them both (the white is a little better) and my date had two glasses of red wine. They were out of a couple of the bottles of red wine, but the one she ended up with was absolutely satisfactory. But the FOOD! The food is so much better than I expected. We tried at least a half dozen different tapas, and each were excellent. They're simple ones, but I especially enjoyed the olives and almonds combination and the pan con tomate. Originally, we were going to have a few drinks and snack before getting a burger next door, but ended up staying and eating until we were full. And for the record, this ended up being one of my favorite vegan-friendly meals of my time in Western Mass. There's a lot of complaints about the staff in the other reviews -- and yes, I'm pretty sure our waiter was a little "under the weather." But, instead of forgetting to come to us, he actually checked on our meal a little too often as we ordered courses of tapas. My main problem with Ibiza was the sudden shift at 10 pm from an intimate, romantic Spanish wine and tapas restaurant to a loud karaoke bar. Then again, a few more glasses of their sangria and I probably would be busting out David Bowie covers as well.

I've been to Ibiza a handful of times... and I love the concept of tapas, but this restaurant simply doesn't deliver. The food has been hit and miss. A few great dishes... the Spanish olives and Marcona almonds and the Nevat goat cheese with figs and walnuts on toast with truffle oil. Both are always tasty... but neither require a lot of skill from the kitchen. For various reasons, most of the other dishes I've tried here have been underwhelming... either tasteless, different than described on the menu or repeatedly, the worst fishy taste on dishes that contained absolutely no fish. The last visit to Ibiza was a disaster before I even ordered. I believe the owner was covering for the hostess that night and he was obviously overwhelmed by the job and by the crowd forming at the door. As we waited, we began to overflow into the tables at the front of the bar - I felt really bad for those folks trying to dine! We waited for 30 minutes, which I might have understood as we didn't have a reservation... except I watched table after table open up and sit there, dirty dishes and all, as we stood crammed like sardines into the crowd of other waiting customers. After finally being seated, we ordered quickly. The space was quite full and uncomfortably loud. Impossible to hold a comfortable conversation. The first few dishes arrived without incident, but a few others were completely forgotten by the server... I don't doubt it was a challenge for her to hear our order, but when we reminded her about the missing dishes she seemed more irritated than apologetic. As we waited for those dishes to arrive, we could see a handful of other tables visibly as irritated as we were (we passed one of them complaining on our way out). By the time the meal was over, we couldn't wait to leave and because so many facets of our dining experience here have been a complete and repeated failure, we won't be giving this place another chance.

I have been here a few times. Always have great food and wine. Also very good sangria. Never been disappointed. The owner is extremely helpful and always great to talk to. Great place for a date or to try many different tapas. Definitely recommend.

Like other reviewers, our experience was a mixed bag. The service was fine, but the food was a let-down. Serving sizes are small even by tapas standards. For our party of four, we wound up with the potatoes (ok), garlic chicken with rice (chicken was dry, sauce was VERY salty, bomba rice was great), sea bass (best dish of the night...would order this one again and again), arugula salad w/manchego and green apples (ok), nevat goat cheese with figs and truffle oil (decent, but not amazing), ceviche (interesting flavors, nicely done), and lamb on chick pea puree (no discernible lamb flavor...could have been beef...and as with the chicken, very salty). In general, other than the sea bass and perhaps ceviche, there just weren't any WOW flavors. Most things were pleasant enough, but not fantastic or rave-worthy, if that makes any sense. The red sangria was very nice and I would get it again. We shared two of the four dessert options...creme brulee and chocolate croquettes (a ball of encrusted chocolate with whipped cream and lemon served in the bowl of a spoon...so literally one bite. Both desserts were yummy and the whole table agreed that the creme brulee was excellent. I'll probably go back because the menu was interesting (huge) and there are other things I'd like to try, but so far the flavors were just kind of meh... Also, given the serving sizes, I think it would feel over-priced if we hadn't had a groupon.

May 25, 2013 Best Tapas in the Northampton area! This dinner was spectacular, we ordered the classic tomato bread, grilled octopus, roasted squid, salt roasted cod with vegetables, and wild mushroom rice with truffle oil. Having traveled to Spain several times and eating some of the best tapas in the world we were impressed. The wine list is terrific and staff very friendly. This is a foodie's destination, one of the best in Northampton..... Recommendation for improvement: The atmosphere is a bit dark and from the outside it looks more like a bar. Great job everyone, we will be back for sure.

My experience here prompted me to start a Yelp account. If I could give this a half star I would. The customer service and wait staff left a lot to be desired. I always drive/walk by Ibiza and have been meaning to try them out for some time. When I saw the Groupon, it was the perfect opportunity. My boyfriend and I called ahead and were told it was very busy so we had to make reservations. When we arrived, the restaurant was nearly empty and we stood in the door for about 5 minutes before someone decided to seat us. We were directed to a really small, cramped table right up against the bar which was awkwardly on top of another party sitting at the bar. This was confusing because the entire place was empty. I asked if they had setting more private and they moved us to a table in the back which was nice. As we were being seated at our new table. Before we could even sit down a waitress awkwardly runs over with a jug of warm water...warm! and pours it into our glasses. It was just so weird and uncomfortable to stand in the middle of the aisle as another server tried to squeeze by with a try of food. Once seated our waiter came over and took our drink order. We each ordered a glass of red wine which was completely over priced! After a long wait a different wait person came over with a glass of red wine and a glass of white for my boyfriend...not what he ordered. He didn't want to have to wait another 10 minutes so we just shared wine. The white was pretty good but the red tasted cooked and oxidized like it had been sitting around for days. The temperature was almost that of warm tea! Isn't this supposed to be a wine bar? After placing our order for food yet ANOTHER wait person came over with a tray of dessert, sat it in front of us and almost ran away. I flagged her down and politely let her know this was the wrong table. She awkwardly removed it and ran off to the kitchen and appeared moments later with the same tray for the table behind ours. We noticed they were each drinking red wine and laughed "I bet they got our drink order!" After another incredibly long wait, our food arrived. The first was a Spanish Tortilla, an egg and potato dish. This wasn't too bad but unfortunately it was cold and some portions of the egg were tough and gummy. The second dish was a lamb stuffed pepper with some fried chickpeas on the side. I don't eat lamb but my boyfriend said it was decent and different. He also said the chickpeas were crunchy oily and cold. The third was a mushroom rice which was probably the only thing I really liked. The portion was also a lot bigger than the rest of the tapas. Also, I know tapas are supposed to be small but the portions seemed to be REALLY really small and with entree pricing! Each tapas cost roughly $10. The final dish was the absolute worst. It was raw tuna, which I normally love but this was haphazardly shredded and fishy tasting. It turned my stomach. It was also served with black burnt waffle potato crisps. I'm pretty sure the waffle crisps were store bought (like those Cape Cod waffle chips) and just refried to make it look like they made them. The burnt flavor from the refried chips completely over took this whole dish...burnt raw fishy fish. Our Groupon also included dessert. We got the apple tart thing which had tough crust and was hard to eat with the spoons they gave us. As we were waiting for the bill, Karaoke was getting set up...why? The crowd was sparse, dead and not exciting at all. Just weird. Overall, this was an extremely disappointing dining experience. The wait staff really needs to work on their customer service skills. This place seems like a good idea but with the way things are being run right now I don't see them surviving more than 2 years.

I had purchased a Groupon awhile back for $20 valuing $40 worth of food. It expired before I ever had a chance to use it. Anyway my friend and I decided to at least use up the face value of the coupon so off we went. The restaurant itself is cute and not a bad size. The apps we ordered were nothing special and they actually forgot to serve one of them. Once we reminded them of the error it took forever to get their version of bruschetta, soggy toast with some sort of mush spread on top. Bottom line, food marginal, service poor.

Strong sangria, I love it! For the amount of delicious food we ordered, the prices were great. Attentive staff. A little dark on the mood lighting. We made reservations for two on a Friday night but probably wouldn't have waited long at all if we had just walked in off the street. I highly recommend the Croquetas de chocolate for dessert.

I went here for a special event this past week. I was so impressed with their wine selection and the tapas they were serving! Everything was delicious, and presented very nice. The best part was the staff and the owner. All very friendly, personable people. I can't wait to go back for dinner soon!

While the food was decent, the service was awful from the moment we arrived. Ibiza was busy at around 6:30 Saturday night-- full bar and a crowd at the door. It was quite a while before anyone greeted us (or any of the several parties waiting by the door), and the guy who finally came over was borderline rude. When we told him we were a party of two, he sighed and asked "Do you have a reservation?" No, and I'll tell you why: your napkins are made of paper. Please. We waited about twenty minutes for a table, which wasn't bad. It bugged me, however, that there is no place to wait if the bar is full. There are three small tables crammed uncomfortably close to the bar (where we were eventually seated), and it would make much more sense to allow people waiting for seats to congregate there instead of making them stand in the middle of the dining room, dodging waitstaff and trying not to hover over diners. Once seated, it was ten minutes before we saw our waitress. This, we soon realized, was the theme of the night. A different server brought out each of the five dishes we ordered, which is common at tapas restaurants, but meant that no one really checked in, asked if we needed more drinks, etc. The couple of times we did see our waitress, she asked "Are you still waiting on more food?" Come on... Including the twenty minute wait, we were there for close to three hours. I get that tapas is served at a leisurely place, but this was ridiculous. There's a difference between leisurely and twenty minutes between dishes. Once our waitress dropped the check, she made herself scarce, and we sat for twenty-five minutes(!) before my fiance finally got up and walked over the the register with it. It was truly an all-time terrible performance. But, like I said, the food was decent, with a couple exceptions. This is what we ordered: Cod fish turnovers: Eh. The puff pastry was chewy, not flaky, and they were short on cod. They were served room temperature, and I'm not sure if that was intentional or not. Either way, I think they would have been better hot. Patatas bravas: The potatoes were cooked perfectly-- really crunchy on the outside and fluffy inside. My fiance likes this dish, so we usually order it at Spanish restaurants, and I'm confident these were the best we've had. Ceviche: I like ceviche with a lot of lime flavor, and these didn't have very much. The scallops were tough. This wasn't a very well-executed dish. Pork ravioli: Instead of traditional ravioli, these were basically fried wonton wrappers (or something similar) stuffed with a delicious pulled pork mixture. They were served with a tomato-based sauce that was reminiscent of canned tomato soup-- not great. Chicken and chorizo skewers: Both the chicken and chorizo were very flavorful. The chicken was particularly delicious. It was lightly charred on the outside but not at all dry inside, which is a tricky thing to accomplish when you're cooking such small pieces of meat. It's too bad that the service was so terrible, because we'd likely make a return trip to try out more of the dishes otherwise.

Excellent tapas, I could down a half dozen in a quick sec! However the food is savory and I dont recommend engulfing your tapas. Sipping a good wine and tasting the food is your best bet as tapas are designed for. We enjoyed all 3 tapas- pork tenderloin, octopus and skewers. I choose the Riva Rey for wine and it worked well all dishes and would even recommend picking up a bottle if i came across it at the store. Nice presentation and good service! Pick up a groupon or 1/2 coupon online and enjoy!

First time here, and will go back. We started with avocado w/beets on toast. No, I can't tell you the fancy Tapas name. Wasn't sure if I'd like because while I love avocado I'm not usually a beets fan. I was so wrong. This was a wonderful blending of flavors. It was my favorite part of the meal. Next up was croquettes/cod. They were supposed to be with crabmeat, but using cod last night. They were like little fish stick balls with a fancy tartar sauce dollop on top. Really good. Our third choice was crisp ravioli of braised baby pork shank. Also a pleasant delicious taste. We finished with a braised short ribs over potato. This was a little too meat and potatos for me, or maybe I was full by then. Either way, it was the only tapas of the 4 that I wouldn't get again. They said we needed reservations but I think we could have walked in. It was busy but not packed on a Saturday night. Great wine selection and if you're unsure of your pick they bring over little samples of suggestions to try.

Last night was my first time there. I have to say that the food is delicious. Cook to perfection. A lot of choices. We pick jamon serrano, pan con tomate, a plate with chorizo and chicken. Everything awasome. But.... the service was not so awesome. I think our server was a luttle busy. He did not check on us frequently and after almost 15 min waiting for a ceviche it Never came. Some miunderstanding. Beside that little issue the rest was excellent. I might be coming back.

Went for dessert and drinks on a Friday night. The place was a little slow, which was surprising, but meant we got a great table. Split 3 of the 4 desserts and all agreed that the bread pudding with fresh cheese, dulche de leche ice cream and sweet and sour strawberry sauce was the best. Fantastic. All of the desserts were tasty and well-presented. Portions were a good size. The nut & chocolate croquettes came on a spoon and either it was plated too hot or with silverware and plates fresh out of the washer, because the whipped cream melted within seconds. The lemon gelatin paired nicely with the chocolate, though. Pricey, yes, but nice atmosphere, good desserts, and extensive wine selection.

Often, appetizers are the most delicious part of the meal, which makes making a meal out of them the perfect solution! The service was very efficient, if a little inconsistent, but overall very speedy. The atmosphere was a little cool (but it is January) and just a little too loud and cramped to be truly comfortable. The tapas were all very delicious and I really liked the served-as-they-come policy rather than having them arrive all at once. I could imagine spending hours here, ordering a little at a time and just enjoying myself throughout the evening. I was very relaxed and didn't feel rushed by the staff at all. I imagine this would be a problem with tapas places. And the food! Even the sauteed mushrooms were fantastic! This was one of those meals where a second stomach would have truly come in handy. The waitstaff are a little possessive of their menus, though. I'd have liked to hold onto one to keep perusing and ordering food and wine! I can't wait to come back.

Great food - terrible service. They didn't write our order down and came back 3+ times to check and still managed to mix dishes up and forget to bring us some of them. The waitress seemed annoyed and lack enthusiasm. It seems that others feel the same based on their posts - I hope they hire better staff!

I went into Ibiza Tapas with my boyfriend with an open mind; I had heard some pretty terrible things about it over the years. Yesterday, a Sautrday night, we were looking for some place new to go in Northampton, and when we saw Ibiza had a groupon, we decided to give it a shot. I'm very glad we did! We started our meal with red sangria, which was some of the best sangria I've ever had. It was also 16 bucks for 4 glasses worth. We ordered 3 tapas: the baby back ribs, the pork crispy ravioli, and the spanish tortilla with chorizo. They were all wonderful, but the ribs were truly our favorite. Our groupon also came with dessert and after seeing they had bread pudding, I couldn't resist. It was denser and thinner than most, but it was sooooo delicious with the sweet dulce de leche ice cream and the tart strawberry sauce. On the debate about terrible service here, our waiter Anders was super helpful and very attentive. While they seemed a little understaffed, Anders took the time to point out his favorite dishes to us, and he didn't sugar coat dishes he didn't like. I am always happy when a server is genuine, not just trying to sell the most expensive item. While some people may not like how slow the service is here, I would like to ask those customers what they were expecting from a tapas restaurant. This place is truly european; the tapas come out one at a time so you can enjoy every bite without feeling like you need to rush so your food doesn't get cold. That being said, the tapas came out quickly one after another, so there was not much waiting time between courses. The slower pace of the total dining experience also gives you time to make conversation with your party, which is why you are eating out, no? I loved the decor as well, but I'm also a big fan of dark mood lighting. I could still see my food and that's all that matters to me. I would not hesitate to come back!

We went here on a double date, and boy, were we surprised (in a good way)! We had expected things to go roughly because we had a super hard time getting a hold of them through phone to make a reservation (as it stipulated on our groupon deal). However, we went later at night (around 9:30) and were given a great table even though our reservation apparently was never written down (this is the main reason for the 4 out of 5 stars instead of 5 out of 5) After being seated, each person picked a tapas that they wanted to share with the table and then both couples picked one together, as well as with the desserts. We got a groupon (which was why we had chosen to come out in the first place, being broke college students and all). The Good Dishes: We got serrano ham wrapped figs stuffed with goat cheese and Ceviche. Both were good- but boy were we shocked when the dishes continued to get better and better! The even better dishes: Veal and Pork meatballs with little baguette rounds and cheese crêpes. Amazing. The great dishes: Atun ( Tuna Tartar on Thin Waffle style potato fries), Short Rib and Mash. So Good. Would come back and eat this 100x in a row. We got the Flan and the Crême Brulée dishes, and they were great. We were so happy with the meal. Our server was warm and friendly, super sweet and was absolutely wonderful and helped us with wine selection after we had finished eating (we decided that we didn't want to leave right away! The atmosphere was great!) Will definitely be frequenting this establishment again - though probably not until I can get another group on as not having any $$ makes it hard to eat at this pricier restaurant.

Stopped in early on a Tuesday night with a Groupon, planning to try out some of the interesting and better-reviewed dishes here (notably the sea bass, calamari, and baby squid). Place was pretty dead. Waitress comes over and starts reciting a laundry list of dishes the kitchen is out of. Um, what? There were at least 6-8 dishes on the menu that they didn't have...and it's early in the night and the place is close to empty, so they clearly didn't just sell out. The calamari was one of them, which was irritating, but whatever...we picked something else instead and ordered. Ten minutes later the waitress comes out again, and not with food. Yep..."sorry, the kitchen just ran out of the squid". Either this place is totally floundering due to lack of demand, or it's just incompetently run. Either way, we got up and left and won't be coming back.

Went here for dessert and drinks with two good friends. The wine list is very good and the owner's recommendation for a red wine was dead-on. I loved the bread pudding. This place is for the more sophisticated crowd who likes to lounge and talk for an hour or more. Juan the owner is very friendly and so is the service staff. I have been here several times and never have I felt rushed to leave because they needed the table. I can't say enough good things about this place. Thanks for providing a sophisticated chill-out zone.

I want to love this place, I really do. I love tapas, I love wine, and this place seemed like a really chic, fun place to enjoy both. Sadly, I was so turned off by the service to the point where my friend and I didn't want to order anything other than our first round of wine. I've been in food industry before, so I'm pretty lax and understanding when orders are backed up and service is "slow". Despite that, this place managed to really try my patience! It wasn't even a busy night, there were only two other couples at the bar. The bartender didn't acknowledge our presence for the first fifteen minutes, and when I waved her down she shrugged me off with a "Just a minute, hun" and continued her conversation with someone else. Same deal when asking for the check. We had to ask two other busers who eventually brought our check to us. Call me after management gets on this service-issue and I'd love to come back.

Went here on a Friday evening (during Arts Night Out) and again on a Wednesday night just because. The restaurant was fairly empty each time which makes for an intimate setting, but it would be even more fun if there were a few more people in the restaurant. Regardless, I thoroughly enjoyed the ambience and the food that was ordered. The menu boasts a nice mix of traditional Spanish tapas and more modern offerings in addition to larger plates. Because a number of the items are rich, you really don't need to order that many dishes. In both instances 4 dishes was enough for me and another person to share. Items that stood out were **Queso Nevat con Higos y Nueces Nevat goat cheese, dry figs and walnuts on crispy toast with truffle oil (love love love!) **Jamon Serrano de España Imported Serrano ham from Spain **Calamares fritos a la Madrileña Fried baby squid with roasted onions aïoli **Croquetas de pato con ensalada de cous-cous Duck confit croquettes with cous -cous salad **Costilla Braised short ribs in a caramelized garlic and oatmeal beer sauce with smoked bacon potato purèe **Arroz de Rabo de Buey con Garbanzos Bomba rice with braised oxtail, wild mushroom, crispy chickpeas and truffle oil Ordered the red sangria both times. It's really good. The only downfall was that in my second time going both my date and I ordered two which tacked $30 onto our bill. 4 apps/tapas plus drinks came to a grand total of $91 (including tip). $7.50 for a sangria seemed to be a bit much for Northampton, but it was tasty and we enjoyed the experience overall. -- Reducing the sangria price to $5 or $6 plus a happy hour special would likely get this space packed upon opening. ***Update: They finally offer pitchers of sangria. So happy!*** The restaurant is unlike anything you'll get in the area and it brings a much needed change to the downtown Northampton landscape. Definitely a place that would be a ton of fun with a large group of people. A DJ on a Friday or Saturday night wouldn't be a bad idea either.

I should start with the disclaimer that my one and only visit to Ibiza was on a not very successful first date, that being said the date was certainly not helped by the dining experience. We were seated immediately on a Saturday at 7:30pm, but in a kind of tight spot so that I felt it necessary to apologize to the people at the next table in case I bumped them. As we opened our menus my date revealed that he had a surprisingly long list of food allergies and sensitivities. I on the other hand eat everything! He decided to start with just one dish of chicken with vegetables and I went for the prix fixe special - four dishes including one dessert for $20. Of course the disparity in our orders was an early concern, but who knew that three of my dishes would appear, albeit very slowly, before his one did. I started with a beet and avocado salad on toast points. In my mouth it was just like mediocre guacamole on stale bread, the beets had zero flavor and were oddly dried out. My second dish was much better, bluefish on bell peppers, not mind blowing, but flavorful and satisfying. My third dish was scallops and arrived at room temperature, again there was a general lack of flavor. We had been there at least two hours when my date received his chicken and by then he was so hungry that I am not sure he even tasted it on the way down. When dessert time came I was informed that they had run out of the almond tart that I had ordered and we only had a choice between bread pudding and rice pudding. We both opted for rice pudding. This choice resulted in the most delicious part of our meal. The pudding rested on a small dollop of rich chocolate and was topped with passion fruit foam, the combination of flavors came alive in my mouth and left me wishing that I had simply ordered a vat of this treat instead of the lackluster choices I had endured. Although the service was interminably slow (start to finish the meal took 3 hours) our server was friendly and charming. Neither of us is very knowledgeable in wines, but we both enjoyed the glasses we chose. I would really love for this restaurant to figure itself out and pull it together, the location and idea are right, but the substance is not there.

Honestly disappointed with this place. My first tapas experience was at Dali in Boston, which is truly an amazing dining experience. From there I experienced tapas in Spain, so maybe my expectations were high but I was really excited to hear that a tapas restaurant was coming to Northampton. However, shortly after it opened, my wife and I went and had an awful experience. The food quality was very low, especially considering the prices and the service was slow and very poor. We decided to give this place 2 or 3 more tries before we gave up on it. Some restaurants need to work out the kinks at first before things get better. Ibiza however seems to just get worse. The service has improved but the food quality may have gotten worse. The short ribs were very fatty and flavorless and many of the other dishes tasted as if they were artificially flavored... Which is really too bad because its a nice location and not a bad atmosphere or bar. If they had increased the quality of the food, they may have won my return business. However things seem to be getting worse rather than better so I have given up on Ibiza. Maybe someone else will attempt tapas in Northampton (fingers crossed). Also it is note worthy that tapas are small plates that are supposed to be brought out over time to make for a nice relaxing, dining experience with many flavors as you taste wine paired with different foods. Every time we have went but once, we received all of our tapas dishes at once - not over time - so our table was stacked with food and we felt we had to eat it all at once before it got cold. One or two dishes at a time guys, one or two for each drink ordered... Thats how tapas should be done.

I absolutely LOVED this place, and will definitely go back. We had a Groupon for dinner for 4, which included 6 tapas and 2 desserts. We had the nevat cheese with figs on toast, the short rib, pork ravioli, asparagus, ceviche, and sea bass. For dessert, the creme brulee and chocolate croquettes. All were amazing, and it was plenty filling. Great wine selection, and the sangria is out of this world! Get the passion fruit, it's delish!

Arrived with reservations 7:00 MONDAY night during restaurant week. The chef quit the night before! It took 3 hours to get most of our tapas. It was a pre fixe menu with16 choices total. We didn't receive 3 of our 20 items, but we were told that we did get them. REALLY??!! Food was good, service was horrible.

4 stars for food, a generous 2 for service. Ever waited 25 minutes for a cheese plate? We did. We ordered 3 rounds of tapas, and each dish took at least 25 minutes-- including the delay between when we checked in on one and it finally appeared. Either the kitchen or the waiter is truly incompetent. Probably both. Red Sangria is sickly sweet. Food is pretty good, if mostly unremarkable. Not offering specific food reviews, as I can't recommend going there unless you really miss Catalonia and you have a LOT of time on your hands.

I wish I could choose 3.5 stars! I just ate here for the first time and did enjoy it, but wasn't blown away. Serving sizes were definitely small, but my date and I split 3 tapas and a dessert and left completely satiated, so they aren't miniscule. Service was fine - it isn't the type of establishment where the waiter checks back in regularly and makes conversation - more the type where your food is dropped and you don't see a waiter again until the next plate is dropped. On a decently busy Tuesday night, there were only 2 servers and a food runner on and each of the servers had 6-8 tables, so they could have been slightly better staffed. We split the grilled calamari, the pork ravioli and the short ribs - all of which were good, but not mind blowing. The short ribs were a little salty, but tasty. The ravioli was tasty - probably my favorite. I actually didn't like the calamari at all - calamari is rubbery by nature, but this seemed particularly rubbery to me. My date liked it though, so I think that was just my palate. The mango salsa that came with it was delicious. For dessert we shared the creme brulee, which was divine. After we ordered it, we waited 30 minutes and finally asked about our dessert, at which point our waiter asked confusedly, "It hasn't come yet?". After that, it took about 3 minutes to get the dessert. Overall, not my favorite restaurant, but it has piqued my interest and I want to try more of their tapas offerings.

Awful food. We went on a Saturday night. Ordered Serrano ham wrapped around figs. The figs were dried! There is no excuse for not having fresh figs in a Spanish restaurant. Each fig had a tiny strip of ham haphazardly wrapped around it like a wet tissue. Next came octopus and potatoes. The octopus was served as small overcooked morsels that resembled escargot, skewered, and slung into a cocktail glass that was filled with something resembling cream that we were told were air-infused potatoes. It was awful. We couldn't eat it. Anchovies on toast was like something out of a can. Wilted spinach was good. Grilled watermelon was okay. We had to catch a movie so couldn't talk to management while we were there or I would have tried to figure out what was going on since this could not be their ordinary food.

I agree with many of the previous reviewers in that I found Ibiza to be a very mixed bag. The food warranted four or five stars as did the waitress service, but the minor stuff bordered on the terrible: It's hard to believe, but there was NO coffee (or tea) available. Not just this particular evening, but any time. This, to me, was alone worth a one star deduction. Four of us shared eight or ten tapas. The food was excellent, particularly considering the extent and variety of the menu and our waitress was knowledgable about it - though not about the wine. However, our individual plates were never changed. Nor were the flimsy paper napkins, and certainly not the flatware. When asked for new napkins to replace our wadded old ones the busboy did indeed bring four, but ungraciously plopped them all down in front of one of us. Another star gone. The wine list was quite extensive, particularly by the glass, and well matched the food. However, by the bottle, it was slightly overpriced by my standards (two times a good retail store). I'll add a generous half-star here. The room itself was OK as to comfort, but was dominated by a very large TV. The volume was turned down, and didn't interfere with the excellent and tasteful music. I suppose one could have sat in the back dining room and avoided the whole thing. Call the ambience a wash. We concluded by ordering all of the four deserts on the menu. These were fine. The kitchen, however, realized they had a fifth desert available and so served that as well. Generous of them - right? Wrong - they charged us for for it - unordered as it was. A half-star plus deduction. It would have been nice to linger over coffee and some of the mediocre sherry available, but oops - no coffee.

While the Sangria's were excellent, the service and the food were not. Went Saturday evening at 9pm and should have known by the $1 tip on the bar, that the evening would not go well. The place was not busy, and it seemed that those that were there had already been served . Had to initially ask for a menu and the glasses to be cleared ( the bar not cleaned however) After what seemed like forever, we received half of our order and had to wait for the other dish. In the mean time, the couple next to us cancelled their order and left starving. Many other worth places in town, this is not one of them.

If I could give Zero Stars I would give it to Ibiza Tapas. Our 5th or 6th visit here as we are a local business that gets many guests in . We have been trying to enjoy this place but it is failing miserably. The waitstaff lurks over you while you eat making it very uncomfortable, the waitresses also seem condescending and very rude. We received A goat cheese and Fig dish with plastic in it, and a very obviously imitation crab meat dish that was rancid. when we sent all these dishes back we were interrogated by the waitress first and then the manager came over and and her words "was here to see what is REALLY going on" because we "obviously have never had Spanish food before" Then when we tried to explain that it is very rude to speak to patrons in this manner , she walked away from us giving a staring glance as she did. Very gross food coupled with awful awful service from the top down makes this an obvious NO GO for downtown Northampton. No wonder we were the oonly table seated at 9:00 at night on a thursday and then when we walked by after filling our bellies elsewhere, it was graced by yet again a single table of 2. Destined to fail in my honest opinion.

I ate there twice during a visit there last week. : it was the best food I had in Northampton. Terrific anchovy tapas, salt baked sea bass, baby lamb shank, great granja white bean dish. Chocolate almond croquettes with lemon and coconut foam were amazing. Good selection of Spanish wines... Perfect personalized service.

Two trips to Spain had me hooked on tapas. I was so pleased when a tapas bar opened in Northampton. I've gone several times, and have always been very happy with my experience. The service can be a little hit or miss, but food quality will always win out for me. Some of my favorites: patatas bravas and pan con tomate (two tapas staples). Ibiza serves a different version of pan con tomate than I was used to (tomato puree instead of a tomato rub), but I prefer Ibiza's way. More tomato flavor. My friend convinced me to try the txipirones en su tinta (squid in it's own ink). When the plate came out it looked like a black, inky nightmare, but oh man is it delicious. Tender squid and the ink is sweet and delicious. I've ordered it twice since then. For dessert, the croquetas de chocolate are a must. I swear, it's like a little ball of chocolate heaven.

I am a food snob---and i really love this place! Super friendly staff, terrific wines, upbeat and my favorite dishes are the black squid with bomba rice and the salt baked bass with potatoes, raisins, pine nut with finely diced veggies. So good. They used to have a great chewy moist bread pudding but the bread pudding they have on the menu now is unpleasant. I don't really like the decor-kind of cheesy but it is fun to sit at the bar. A winner!

I went to Ibiza Tapas for the first time about a week ago, on the first day of Northampton Restaurant Week 2012. We expected that going to Ibiza would be a different experience during that week than any other normal dining time, from the limited menu to big crowds and long waits. However, we were not prepared for the awful experience that we were in for. I should start by saying that my party and myself were all recent college grads, most of whom work in the food service industry and therefore are pretty understanding about dining issues, which should give you an idea of just how bad our experience was. When we arrived, my group of four was sat immediately, as the restaurant was almost completely empty at around 6:20 p.m. After a bit, we ordered our wine while we waited for the fifth member of our party to arrive. Eventually when all five of us were there, around 6:30 we ordered our meal, which included three tapas and a dessert from a list of choices. We also told our waiter that we had a time limit and needed to be out by 8:00. Ordering was fine, but around 10 minutes later our problems began. Our waiter, who spoke limited English came back to double check who ordered which tapas from the first course. We knew that he had put the order in wrong when about fifteen minutes later, only one person's first tapas had arrived. After a long wait, he was still the only one with food, at which point the waiter came out and urged him to start eating, before the four other people in the party had received their first tapas. After that, everything was a mess. People who had ordered salads (something that should take less than a minute to prepare) received their first tapas last, by which time people were already receiving their second tapas. At this point, about 35 minutes after ordering, I still had not received even my first tapas plate and it was to the point where random wait staff were trying to clear our table because we had been there for so long. The dishes continued to arrive in a very scattered, haphazard way with awful timing. Some people were served the wrong dish as the waiter could not remember who had ordered what. At this point, before we had even received our third (and in come cases second) tapas or dessert, we asked for our bill to speed up time. When our bill arrived, we figured out the best way to split up the check between us, but held onto our money because by this point the service was so awful and our waiter so unhelpful that we wanted some part of our bill taken off. After requesting to speak to a manager, our waiter brought us another waitress who could do little to help. We had several other people sent to our table, none of whom were in management position. We then found out that there was no manager and the restaurant wouldn't comp. any of our drinks or tapas. We then requested to speak to the owner, who we were told, refused to talk to us or comp. more than our $16 sangria - which was pretty outrageous. Eventually after a long struggle (which was pretty embarrassing, as the owner of the restaurant was standing across the room looking at us angrily), he agreed to comp our sangria and half of our bottle of wine - two decisions that maybe had a $10 impact on the restaurant, if that. By this time, it was 8:30, well past our allotted time for dinner so we gave up and left. Unfortunately our relaxing night out turned out to be the dinner from hell. Not only in the awful service (which could be forgiven with the right amount of apologies and offers for free drinks that would happen in any other restaurant), but in the fact that none of us had ever had to work so hard to have a dinner at a restaurant before. Between flagging down waiters and waitresses, trying to find a manager, getting all of our food, attempting to talk to the owner etc. our issues with service took up the entirety of our meal and we literally couldn't have any other topic of conversation. When all was said and done, the meal was completely colored by our treatment. The food itself was okay. I've had far better tapas in Portland, OR. and Washington D.C. and the member of our group who spent last year in Spain was not impressed. The food was definitely not worth the rest of the ordeal to get it.

My first visit was just a couple weeks ago; I don't know what it is about the place, but it just didn't have much curb appeal to me, and I hadn't heard anyone say anything about it, good or bad. A friend finally mentioned he'd heard it was good, so we decided to check it out. So glad we did, and so sorry we didn't do so sooner! There were 3 of us, and we went on a Thursday night. It was quite empty, so no problems with a wait or inattentive waitstaff, as other reviewers have mentioned. On the contrary, our waitress was always present when we needed to order more tapas and extremely knowledgeable and helpful with deciding between menu items. We had 3 pitchers of sangria (they're smallish and $18, but we got 3 glasses out of each, so the price seems reasonable). The special sangria of the night was triple berry, and we also tried the mango; they're all made with fresh fruit and real fruit juice, not canned/sugary stuff. Each tapa we tried was great, and each of them was a true "sharing" portion, meaning they were actually big enough to split between 3 or 4 people with everyone feeling like they actually tasted the dish instead of just having a teensy bite (which is often the case in some tapas places). The waitress was helpful with this too, mentioning if a dish came with 3 little pieces or 4, etc.... I was surprised that some of the typical tapas that I always see at Spanish restaurants were absent from the menu...tortilla espanola, eg, but others that i've never seen before were a refreshing and delightful surprise....the lamb on chickpea puree and the grilled octopus with potato foam. I'm not a fan of molecular gastronomy, but the potato foam was mind blowing. As is the case with almost all tapas places, it's not a cheap night out, but for a tapas joint, I thought this place was a pretty good bang for your buck. Overall, a very fun and satisfying dining experience.

I really enjoyed the meal I had here: the service was good and the squid ink rice dish completely changed the way I thought about squid ink. I also enjoyed the ceviche and I hope to go back to try the paella. I haven't eaten much spanish food outside of Spain, but I really enjoyed this.

I'd heard good things about this place from friends, and I love tapas, so I was really excited to check Ibiza out. Unfortunately, it was underwhelming. Other people have complained about the service, so I wanted to say that we did have friendly, attentive service the whole time and I'd give it good marks for that-- though I would note that it wasn't really all that busy for 7 on a Saturday, with lots of open tables. The food was our real issue-- incredibly expensive for the small (yes, small by tapas standards) portions and just egregiously under seasoned. Like, intensely bland, which is so rarely an issue for me-- I am usually the person thinking something is salty when others don't. Which would have been less of an issue if there was salt at the tables, which there wasn't. Two of the dishes we ordered- lamb shanks and veggie crepes- were a little mushy by our assesment, and when you add the blandness in, had an uncomfortable baby food feeling. The wine list was good and interesting, and the atmosphere was nice, but I probably won't be back, sadly. I've had some fantastic mind-blowing tapas, and for this price I can't really afford to leave full but unsatisfied.
