Had the popover this morning. It was amazing! Very savory and perfectly seasoned. It's like an eggy-er croissant with tomato, fried leeks, aioli, began bacon, and sharp cheddar. Soooo good! Kind of on the expensive side for a breakfast sandwich but it was totally worth it. I would definitely go back many more times for this.

Every time I go in the staff takes the time to explain the menu if I need it, they answer any and all questions, and they do it all with a smile on their face! seriously, they are wonderful. as for the food, spot on every time. The rosemary fries are amazing, the bbq sandwich is good but my favorite would ave to be the chickpea fritter! Thanks for being vegan friendly, you guys have made my transition an easy one.

Great vegetarian fare, too easily overlooked between a Chipotle and other eateries in a strip mall across from the Burlington Mall.

I love clover. there are only a few places that I'm an avid fan of and clover is one of those places. vegetarian food at affordable prices. filling and fresh. if you follow their blog at all you'd know they really are about fresh, locally sourced ingredients. there are some sandwiches that are around all year around (chickpea fritter, egg and eggplant, etc) but then there are also seasonals based on what's fresh! I ate the chickpea fritter there at least once a week for a while but now I usually get the BBQ seitan or try a seasonal. some of their seasonal sandwiches are definitely an acquired taste or interesting flavor combo but I've never had one that I hated. it's usually me LOVING it or thinking it's okay. I highly recommend: - side salads -flavored lemonade drinks like basil lemonade or mint lemonade - whoopie pies made from scratch available Friday after 5:30 - Rosemary fries! on the thinner side and crunchy. Rosemary is an incredible touch - POPOVER BREAKFAST SANDWICH! I never wake up early enough for this (breakfast ends at 11) but it's delicious. I highly recommend it. best breakfast I've ever had as for the service it's super fast and employees are incredibly nice. they'll answer any questions you have and if you have any issues with your order they really take customer satisfaction seriously. the manager, jasper, is super nice! the employees give clover a nice refreshing feel and the way it's designed on the inside is so aesthetically pleasing too. environment is great!

I got the chickpea fritter platter. It annoys the hell out of me that this place wouldn't call it falafel. Cultural appropriation much? Minus 1 star. The menu is really confusing. Well the menu items are clearly listed, but ingredients are not. On your first visit you would not know what goes in a platter (they all contain different things) or a sandwich. So you would have to ask and the person would have to explain, which defeats the notion of "fast" food. Minus 1 star. But food is good. Thank god Clover exists among all the Cheesecake Factories, Olive Gardens and Capital Grilles. It's cheap, quick (altho not as quick as the restaurant itself claims), and healthy. I would prefer the pita bread to be firmer and pocketed so I can stuff my platter in it. (Or I could have ordered a sandwich. I am obviously a rational customer). I would prefer the container of tahini not to be placed in the "juice" of Asian slaw. But I have no complaint as to the flavors of my food. 4 stars. Plus 1 star for having children's drawings on the wall.

Clover has seriously changed fast food for me forever. Fresh, delicious, inventive, you could use a whole bunch of great adjectives (there's another one) to describe Clover. They have the classics like their chickpea fritter sandwich (a modern take on the falafel sandwich with pickled veggies and many fresh toppings). Where Clover truly shines is their rotating specials which feature local fresh veggies. So Fresh and So Tasty. The new fried blue oyster mushroom special featuring kale, tomatoes and some delicious aioli makes me think of an oyster po'boy. The breading on the mushrooms is fantastic. I know people are afraid to go veggie sometimes but I really never miss meat when I'm here. Other rotating specials to look out for are the cucumber and pimento cheese, the heirloom tomato, their Indian sandwich (if you like spicy), and their regular off menu item the soy BLT. The staff at this particular location are very friendly and know the menu/brand inside and out. They seem to have low turnover at this location.

We planned to do furniture shopping at West Elm and Crate and Barrel today, and read very good reviews about clover. We decided to give it a try although we are both not fans of vegan foods. Clover offers the best vegan foods that I've ever had!!! No regret at all. My hubby ordered a chickpea sandwich, which is BIG!! I had an egg and eggplant sandwich, which is AWESOME! There are two big pieces of eggplant, both are soft and delicious. The hummus goes perfect with egg and eggplant. Love it! We also ordered a Rosemary French fries to share, and decided to order another because it is sooo good. I also had a peach lemonade which is a seasonal drink. Hubby had a watermelon soda. Again, he ended up having two! Anyway, we are super satisfied with Clover. We will definitely go back when we go to Burlington!

So I went back again for a dinner time serving from this wonderful establishment. I met with a young man who said his name was John Drew All I can say is this. He knew his products, he knew his items, and he was very good at explaining everything to a new person who had never been in there before and was purchasing food right after me This guy should be a spokesperson for the organization. Get him out of taking orders, and get them in front of the media. Or sales. Or something.! As usual, my chick pea fritter sandwich and my fries were amazing. I can't get enough of the food, the low prices, and the proximity of my house doesn't bite either. Yay

I was in town on business and looking for some salvation admits the sea of chain restaurants, a del fresco grill flanked by a chilis and as I backed away I backed right into a Macaroni grill, and shuddered. Whipping out yelp led me to this little gem of a store and got in my car and left as if overcome by an involuntary force. Upon arriving the area was clean, well lit and filled with friendly patrons and even friendlier staff. They took their time to explain what was seasonal and fresh on the menu and even we're happy to help when there was an issue getting my receipt (which I think was my fault for putting in the wrong email address #SausageFingers) I ordered the chickpea sand which with no cucumbers with the pita and humus on the side and within minutes it appeared adorned on some butcher paper. The basil lemonade was out replaced with a lavender lemonade which suited just as fine. Fully feasted and refreshed I feel like I may come back here for breakfast, for now my journey continues.

My wife and I frequent this clover and it's fantastic. While she is a vegetarian, I am not. Despite my carnivore-ism, clover is one of my favorites because of their creative ways they mix flavor so and texture.

  • Dena G.

The atmosphere is casual and the food good. The fries could have used a tiny bit more salt, but overall my experience here was good; I'll definitely come back when in the Burlington area.

Absolutely love it here! Great options for vegans. The staff is always helpful and friendly. Justin answered all of my questions and made us feel very welcome. Love the compost idea. More restaurants should be as conscientious of waste as Clover is.

I've been to a few of the Clover locations and it's always a good time. The food is always extremely fresh and flavorful. The staff is super friendly, helpful, and will answer any questions you may have. They pride themselves on having fresh, healthy ingredients and I applaud that. I also really like that they're sensitive about allergies and will help you find something right for your diet/lifestyle. I've had a bunch of the sides, the chickpea platter a couple times, and my go-to is th egg & eggplant. I never would've tried the egg & eggplant as I'm usually weirded out by the giant purple veggies, but they somehow make it friggin delicious. It's really hard for me to get anything else now that I've had it. Fries are good. Not out of this world, but still really good with a nice hint of fresh rosemary. Again, you want freshness? You'll get it here. The other day they were testing sandwiches and made a soy BLT. As I walked in, one of the employees asked if I wanted a free sandwich that they had just made but couldn't sell. Well, duh, I'll try it. I was blown away by how good it was. Fake bacon can be good? Apparently so. They use vegan mayo too, which is pretty cool. This place makes me happy. Anytime I go, my mood changes for the better. The people, the food, the great prices, and the open clean atmosphere....it just works. Yay Clover!

Oh man, this place.... I went in at 4pm on a Friday about a month ago to find it dead, which really didn't bother me considering what time it was. The guys behind the counter were really friendly, and when I said it was my first time here, they wasted no time suggesting things for me to try. I had the Chickpea Fritter Sandwich (they said "its like Falafel" and i was sold), a side of the rosemary fries and a blood orange soda. The portions were AWESOME and it was so tasty. I guess the one criticism is that I didn't get a plate with my sandwich, so I put it down on a bed of napkins.. which really is fine. I haven't made it back since, but I plan to!

First time to try (or even hear of) Seitan. It was covered with BBQ sauce which was the saving grace. A very weird consistency (rubbery but not tough). Came with two friends, one ordered the BBQ seitan as did I and we both didn't prefer it. The BBQ sauce was great which is what helped us swallow the seitan. Potato salad was ok, rosemary fries were good but not super hot. Our friend's plantain wrap was very good though, we each had a bite of it. Her yucca salad was just OK. Overall, glad we tried it and two of the three of us would probably not return based on this one experience. Perhaps we just didn't order things we enjoyed. Very friendly, helpful service though!

Amazing food, great service. Got the chickpea platter and loved it. I'm not a vegetarian, but it definitely left me satisfied. Guy behind the counter was helpful in explaining all the various options and even offered samples. Will definitely be back.

I'm not a vegetarian but I love Clover! The food is always fresh, usually local and sometimes organic but no matter what it always tastes great and in season. The staff is always so helpful and the wait is never too long - even when they're busy. The sandwiches feature combinations and flavors that I would never think to make myself but they are always delicious.

The staff raises the bar on service. From the second I walked in they were courteous genuine and caring. In fact they even shared with me a little creation of theirs...fried jalapeños for me to try! From his dinner! The one guy Ben is pleasant and often confused for the owner but is definitely his own man. Back to the food oh the food. I love that they take time to warm the pita in the oven. Makes them much more malleable for sandwich creation and absorbs the hummus beautifully. The chick pea fritters, cloverized falafel, are tasty, small & light. The cabbage and carrot is very fresh and not overwhelming. There are several seasonal varieties is so be careful if you love something it may be temporary. When I tried to tip them to leave they said company policy no tips. A sign they pay their employees well. So hats off to clover I will return again

Yum! I prefer the sandwiches. The brussel spout sandwich has a good tangy sauce with it. The BBQ Seitan is great--on the sweet side so if you want a more smoky flavor, it's here. Their side salads are good. The mezze platter is fresh and good--not out of this world. The only I don't like/love are the fries..they are fresh and all but I just don't love the flavor.

Very affordable and super friendly staff. I'm always happy when I see vegan/veg restaurants proliferate. We need more of them. I would caution people to be careful though of the deep fried items which can be unhealthy. I do wish they had baked fries instead of the Rosemary french fries. The potato salad was not just made ( had been refrigerated and placed in a plastic container). The bbq seitan sandwich was very good with fresh lettuce ! Casual environment with nice tables and lighting.

Fresh and fantastic food! My veggie girlfriend loves me all the more. Friendly and helpful staff. Jess, Nancy, and John were all great on our first visit and Ben is great as well on day 2 dinner.

What a wonderful place! I had the felafel and humus pita sandwich. It was soo very good. The place was very clean, the quality of the ingredients were top-notch, and the service was super-quick. It is not a formal restaurant, but if you are looking for really good quick food that doesn't leave you with a chain fast-food hangover, this is definitely the place. I will be back!

So disappointed with Clover today. The food here is usually amazing but sadly today there was a lot of negative attitude with the staff and it reflected in the food. My fries were burnt and so were my chickpea fritters. I could see the oil was smoking but didn't want to say anything because I was afraid they would bite my head off. It's a great place but they really need to work on their customer service and consistency.

Came here with a vegetarian friend who likes this place. We both got the chickpea fritter. It was basically a falafel sandwhich (hummus, red cabbage, lettuce, pickled (?) carrots). Overall satisfactory but wasn't anything special. I don't believe in paying for food that doesn't have meat (lol carnivore) so I might be biased. I thought $6 was a fair price for the fritter, though. There were only a few other people there when we went but the cashiers and service-people were attentive and didn't mind explaining the food. The interior is nice and clean, but it doesn't seem like the place people stop and eat; most people take-out. I know clover used to a food truck and therefore doesn't have massive menu. But I wish they had more than 5 lunch/dinner options. They had coffee and some sides but more menu options would have been appreciated.

Oh my god. Still amazing and fantastic sandwiches have been added! Try the zucchini tofu love packed sandwich!

Hmmm, writing on the windows and very spartan inside. Not sure if this place is any good but I'm try anything one (well, almost!) Oh, all vegetarian, no meat. Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Dare I even try something? Errr, mounds of what looks like picked radish or cabbage? Don't do it. Fine. The guy has me in his sights now and is telling me all about where they get this ingredient from and that and all I am thinking is how can I extricate myself from this place without it being too awkward not ordering anything. I wasn't able to figure out how in time so I just ordered the first sandwich on the menu with the rosemary fries. Fine I thought, it will be healthy for me and probably won't kill me so just suck it up and try the thing. I seat myself at their actually quite interesting polished tree trunk counter and take a tentative bite. WOWWWW! This thing is loaded with flavor and tastes fantastic. Seriously, this is vegetarian food! The sandwich was the pushpa the guru sandwish and was amazing! The fries were also seriously good too. So, was that just a one off great sandwich, after all they had said it was only going to be on the menu for a short time? Fine. I give them another try after not wanting to eat meat for a while and had the heirloom tomato sandwich and then the fritter sandwich. Ok, I might just join this cult! These are just amazing little flavor bombs wrapped up in a tasty pita disguise. I'm a believer and am already jonesing for my next flavor bomb. Clover is one of the few places on earth where healthy and tasty really do exist in the same pita.

  • Beth C.

I went in with a wicked cold and the order-taker guy misheard me and I got a chickpea sandwich instead of an egg and eggplant (my favorite sandwich). They immediately offered to make me another sandwich, but I didn't have enough time (I was cutting it fine as is). The manager made me an egg and eggplant anyway while I quickly ate my lunch and gave it to me as I headed out to enjoy later. What a great surprise!

I love Clover. It's philosophy for food, novel take on healthy fast foods, and the masterful taste of getting something homemade in just a few minutes. As carnivores as someone could be, my heart was stolen by this local vegetarian joint. It took me a few months too long to visit the Burlington location but it is as delicious as expected. The location is well lighted, clean and minimalist with vegetables growing out of walls and art by kids hanging on the sides, an open kitchen that shows you where all the goodies are being made. (I love local joints.) The popover breakfast sandwich was ultra delicious, within a few minutes, a piping hot popover with crunchy crust outside and the inside soften and fluffed with light mayo, fried leeks are dried and none greasy, the slice of fresh warm tomato and the smoked tempeh adding to the extraordinary flavor of the sandwich. Feeling satisfied and light after my meal, this is many times better than a breakfast sandwich at Dunkin Donuts. There drinks are also home made, grab a sample of anything, just ask. Did I mention the staff is awesome and friendly? Amazing, this is what fast food should be about.

Fast service, great food, mod and comfy atmosphere! This place was accidentally stumbled upon and ended up being one of the best lunches I've ever had! The food is fresh and definitely has a unique twist on usual combinations, so if you're adventurous this place is perfect for you!

  • Chris S.

No question, the food is delicious. But, Christ, could you guys move any slower. Your breakfast options are wonderfully simple and flavor-filled. But why does such simplicity have to take forever. A breakfast sandwich is one (pre)poached egg, a slice of tomato, slice of cheese, salt and pepper. How in god's name is that a 15 minute ordeal? And why the hell would you wait to brew my coffee until after that's done when there are 4 open drip stations. So... If you're looking to kill some time and want a really great meal, this is your place. But if you think that this will be a less than 20 minute endeavor even is the two people in front of you ordered oatmeal, you'll be disappointed.

  • Nicole T.

oh my god, the chickpea fritter sandwich.... actual vegan heaven. i will be back for another, trust me. the place is super simple, nothing fancy. my only complaint was that the music was way too loud for such a tiny area. but the food was awesome! i just moved from portland, oregon, a super vegan friendly town, and veg restaurants are very hard to find around this area. i work across the street which makes clover super convenient.

Quick, friendly, and the breakfast popover sandwich is a much welcomed alternative to the Starbucks sausage, egg and cholesterol. See what I did there? Ha! Clover rocks!

While waiting for SWMBO and heir apparent to finish a shopping safari at Burlington Mall, I decided to find someplace for us to have dinner. I was really happy to see Clover was located just across the road in a little mall-lette. We'd never been to (any) Clover before, despite having been hearing about it for years. The staff at this location was friendly but not pushy. Gave us a sample of one of the fresh-made drinks (ginger soda) and answered our questions simply and enthusiastically. We're not vegetarians but we do like to eat a few meat-free meals a week. So we're not afraid of veggie/vegan food, but we're not uncritically fannish about it either. The food at Clover...was darn good. The spouse had the chickpea fritter platter with two sides, spawn had the brussle sprout sandwich and I had the BBQ seitan, also with two sides. We each had a drink. The whole bill was less than $30. All of us were extremely happy with the meal. We each shared bites and I think particular winners for me were the chickpea fritters, the hummus salad, and the broccoli salad (suprisingly fiesty). My spouse loved the fritters and the german potato salad. My seitan BBQ tasted great but the texture could have been better - I've had seitan that was shredded or docked to give a more 'meat-like' feel. But that was a minor quibble - I ate all of it! All the ingredients were fresh and well-prepared, and we got our food *very* fast (to be fair, there were just a few other people there). I would make a point of eating here again if (when) I am next in the Burlington mall area during meatime. And I certainly will be checking out their (much closer to home) Cambridge location.

Disclaimer: I am not a vegetarian. In fact, I literally can not remember the last time that I went out to eat without ordering some type of meat. That being said, after eating at Clover, I can honestly say that I didn't miss it. 5 stars! I have heard people talk about Clover since I moved to Boston, but never made time to stop at the food truck. So when we were hangry bopping around Burlington, we decided to grab a bite. The menu is small, but prefer an uncluttered menu. I ordered the chickpea fritter sandwich, rosemary fries and a blood orange lemonade to wash it all down. I am grateful that they didn't provide any descriptions on the menu, because I am certain I would have opted out of some of the toppings, which would have been a HUGE mistake. All of the ingredients are deliberately placed and the sandwich is a real winner because of it. Fried chickpea fritters and hummus in a warm pita, topped with pickled veggies (carrots, red cabbage and red onion) and a tahini drizzle. YUM! The rosemary fries were just as tasty, fresh and crisp with enough to share. And you can't go wrong with a delicious not-too-sweet lemonade. I will be putting this order on repeat for sure! The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, asking us how everything was as we walked out. Although the location could be more convenient, the space was clean and inviting. Before finishing my review, I must point out that I saw a photo of some drool-worthy onion rings online, so Clover take this as my formal request to bring those babies back soon! For vegetarians and carnivores alike, Clover is a must try!

Found his place on Yelp, close to our hotel in Bedford. Tried both breakfast sandwiches & organic fresh ground coffee. The breakfast (homemade) popover was beyond delicious & stuffed with the perfect combination of ingredients. I don't know how I have never had fried leeks before, but I have definitely been missing out. Flavor was amazing & the gals working we're probably the most friendly of our trip out here to Boston. Second sandwich was decent, but I just can't stop thinking of the fried leeks. I love the layout & design of the restaurant, very organic feeling & bright with the lighting. We learned that this place started as a food truck & this was there first brick & mortar location. Here's hoping they branch out to the Midwest & open a location in Columbus!

  • Julie R.

Heard about this place and the food trucks around Boston having incredible food. Met my friend here for lunch and my expectation was exceeded. The simple looking menu posted on the wall held such interesting options that made it hard to decide. I had the highlighted pocket sandwich with sweet potato, slaw, miso in combination with other wonderful favors. It was warm and delicious! There was a mixup with my drink order (I want up twice to find out why my tea never came) but they corrected that with an apology. I'll define my return to try more and highly recommend it to friends.

I've worked in the area for several years and eaten at every local spot. There is no good vegan (or vegetarian) food around. Clover fills that lunchtime spot. The food is good and the staff is friendly. I love the chickpea fritter and the BBQ seitan. It's also awesome that everything they use is compostable (utentils, cups, etc.) I would wish they would update the menu more often, as I'm in there pretty frequently. Also, there is no vegan dessert, which I wish they would have!

TOTALLY AWESOME!! This is the best place ever! The staff is friendly , clean, and the food is super yummy. Everyone who works there has a great attitude. It feels like they love what they do and their excitement shows in their food and service. Ambiance is great and comfortable too! I absolutley love love love their Pushpeer sandwiches and hot ginger drink in the Fall. Bring em' back please!!!

First time last time. The extremely helpful cashier explained the entire menu to my me and my girlfriend. She ordered the egg and eggplant sandwich - a pretty bland pita roll filled with a far too thick slice of eggplant and a smattering of egg. Not enough tahini sauce and just not spectacular. I chose the "falafel" plate that came with three tiny balls. The cook said he would bring over the rest when they were ready. Five minutes later, three more tiny balls appear with the warning, "hot!" A miniscule portion of mushroom pasta lacked any particularly redeeming qualities. The tahini and tiny portion of tahini sauce were unmemorable. A very unsatisfying meal that needs some serious flavor tweeking.

I will brave the horrible parking lot for a quick weekday bite at Clover. The food is consistently good. The staff is friendly and fast. There's usually a table to park and nom. And to get away from my desk for a little while? Totally worth it. The chick pea platter is my usually go to - a handful of teeny falafel balls served up with hummus, tahini, some picked veggies and 2 rotating side salads. The cucumber salad and carrot salads are pretty excellent - really fresh and crunchy. The Israeli couscous salad is not my favorite - the few times I've tried it the couscous was a bit gummy and unpleasant. The Brussels sprout sandwich is a delight and in that warm wheat pita - I really can't resist. The Brussels are roast-y and a little charred with a great smokey flavor. Yum. For a little while, they had a collaboration sandwich with Guru the Caterer which had some paneer and picked veggies and this sauce that was outstanding. I'm sad that this is no longer an option. I love the rotation options for sodas - the ginger is always a good bet and the cranberry has a nice tart zip. Definitely a great option for a quick bite. I always leave feeling full and happy.

Ever since moving to the Boston area from SoCal, I've become a Clover addict! I can't get enough of this place. Everything with the exception of the pasta salads has been good. My favorite is the Brussel Sprout sandwich but the Chickpea Sandwich and Chickpea platter are great choices too. I love their fries too and their lemonades are always a good choice.

Thrilled to see more adventurous healthy eating options in the Burlington Mall area like Clover. Clover makes vegetarian food with funny names and food that may even look a little strange, then big reveal is a culinary delight. Had the BBQ Seitan, ginger lemonade and potatoes. Nice energy pack that pleased my taste buds.

I love clover. The food is great whether you are a vegetarian or not. They have amazing coffee (pour over) and loose leaf teas. Their sodas are made with house made syrups, and the seltzer water is oddly crisp (best I have ever had). I suggest the german slaw, oatmeal, or popover. The only thing is that I wish they did not fry so many of their menu items. Even though it is only a flash fry it seems like nearly all of the sandwiches are flash fried. Staff is very nice and it is only really crowded during the lunch rush between 12-1 pm during the week. This place is worth checking out if you are in the area.

The food was delicious and the cheerful and thorough introduction to the Clover experience was even better ( thank you Justin!) my sister was reluctant to try a vegan place but was more than pleasantly surprised. Glad to have to been "unchained" from the usual lunch.

Walked into clover and clearly looked confused. Ben, the guy behind the counter noticed and said hi as well as asked if I had any questions. He guided me through the menu options that had no descriptions on the impossible to read menu of crazy fonts. I ordered an enzo, a sandwich with eggplant and fries on it, pineapple soda, and hummus. The sandwich was good, soda great, and hummus was over dressed with spices that made me say meh. Would be a 3 star but the great customer service won then the extra point. Good job Ben.

I've been going to the Clover food truck in Boston's financial district for years before the Burlington place opened. Although there are several food trucks right next to each other in the financial district, it seems as if Clover always has the longest line, and for good reason. Ever since they opened this restaurant location in Burlington, my family and I have been frequent customers. Actually, I'm currently eating at Clover with my mother and my sister. I'm eating a parsnip salad. That's one of the things I love about Clover, they're unique. How many fast food places sell parsnips? This is the first time I've seen parsnip salad on the menu, and that's definitely another thing that keeps me returning: they are always trying new things. It's about time I give Clover a review, because I buy food from them more often than I buy from any other place that sells food. One day last week I had Clover for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, at 2 different food trucks plus their restaurant location in Cambridge. Their sandwiches are delicious and very reasonably priced, no matter where they are located. I'm a vegetarian so I love the fact that everything on the menu is vegetarian. I've taken meat eating friends here also and they enjoy it as much as I do. The only thing I'm not fond of here are the sodas, they are too bland for my taste. Although Clover generously offers free tap water with your choice of carbonated, cold, or room temperature, so I can't complain if I don't like the drinks they sell. The venue itself is also something I enjoy. It's nice and minimalist, and all of the plastic they serve your food in is compostable. My favorite feature is their wall of crayon drawings. There is a roll of paper on the wall and a big box of crayons, and when you're done you can tape it to the wall. I've indulged in this myself even though I'm in my mid-20s.

I really want to love this place. And if I order the items I know to be tried and true, I will not be disappointed. The popover breakfast sandwiches are fantastic. The BBQ seitan sandwich and the brussel sprout sandwich are good. Their homemade sodas are fun! But some of the specials just miss the mark, despite the hype that it's "better than the chickpea fritter" scrolling by on their TV monitors. My experience with the new panelle sandwich was not a good one. It was a soggy, grease filled sponge with olives and dill. They call this comfort food? No comfort to me. I gave it a couple of bites and threw it away. So that lunch trip resulted in what was equivalent to spending about $10 on a lemonade. There was a beet sandwich special that was almost good. And perhaps it would have been with more attentive construction. Too many globs of whatever cream cheesey spread they were using ruined it for me and my lunch date (my boss, incidentally, who refuses to return). I'm sure that's a sentiment shared by others. There's a risk you run here, and a very safe Chipotle right next door. I love the premise, but I don't always love the food. And with copious use of a deep-fryer, what seems like a healthy alternative may be so healthy.

Cool concept but I am all about value. If I spend $5.50 for coffee and a muffin I expect to get some substance (and flavor). The coffee (albeit it's cool the way they make it) was very mediocre. Don't even get me started on the muffin - only one to choose from (apple cinnamon) and it could have came from Walmart it was so bad. The muffin was slightly larger than a golf ball and the coffee was about the size of a small from Dunk's (for $5.50?!?!?!) I'm sure the lunch/dinner is better (it must be for the average star rating this place has) but after my breakfast experience I'm not going to come back and find out.

I've been a vegetarian for over 20 years and I have to say this place is gross. I got a few things because I wanted to try it out and I literally just threw out the Seitan sandwich after half a bite. I wanted to like it, but there are better vegan/vegetarian options pretty much anywhere.

I have been a fan of Clover in Harvard Square so I was happy to see one started near my work. Certainly the food and recipes are consistent with the other location. I am a fan of their minimalist interior space and the use of technology. Over time they have overcome their growing pains, and the place is starting to run better and more in tune with their established philosophy and business model. Again, unless you agree with the philosophy you may find this place to be an oddity. That being said, I find their beverages and food to be excellent examples of food that is vegetarian, locally sourced, and processing plant and preservative free.

We went here after staying down the street in the Marriott. We wanted a healthier breakfast than the hotel offered. It is very minimalist. My oatmeal was served in a paper cup and was overlooked and gummy. The apple compote that came with it was terrific though. My hot hibiscus tea was terrific though I recommend asking for double cup because it is too hot to even pick up without the additional cup as a liner. The popover sandwich with eggplant , cherry tomatoes and cheese looked terrific. Hubby seemed to enjoy it. I think it is a good alternative for a fast healthy option. Many seemed to be there for a cup of coffee to go and a muffin or yogurt with granola.

Going to make this clear: I'm NOT a vegetarian. Got the Chickpea Fritter and Rosemary french fries. Before this, I've never realized how veggies could be so good. Chickpea Fritter: A diverse blend of vegetables and falafel in between pita bread Rosemary french fries: Simply fries covered in Rosemary. Greatly compliments the Chickpea Fritter. Overall atmosphere brings a nice, clean, contemporary feel to the place.

Clover is very bare bones, real simple stuff. But as a meat eater travelling with vegetarian, they really exceed expectations. The brussel sprout sandwich, fries, and other goodies are really well prepared and tasty. Be prepared for very simple service and options, but good healthy food. I like that they keep it simple. Only challenge is because the food is locally sourced, they do tend to run out of favorites as seemingly the worst times, but its a trade off!

Delicious! I came here for lunch while running errands the other day. The staff was extremely friendly. I had a chick pea fritter sandwich (basically, falafel with a ton of salad-y fillings) I'm not usually a salad fan, but this was great! I really liked the sauce on top. I got the rosemary fries on the recommendation from the cashier. So fresh and yummy! I also got a vanilla soda - seltzer water with what tasted like a homemade vanilla syrup. Very good and fresh. I want to try the Mexican Candy Soda next time! Everything came to a little bit over $11. It was more than I planned on spending for lunch, but I think it was worth it for a freshly-prepared, flavorful meal. Overall, a really good experience. I'll definitely be back!

I am not a vegan or vegetarian but this place has really become my go to lunch/quick dinner spot. I used to go over to Chipotle all the time but now if my fiancé wants to go there, I stop over at Clover instead. I have had both the BLT and the chickpea fritter and I would say that if you are new to vegan/vegetarian cuisine, those are both good options to get you started. The fritter is very similar to falafel but I think the flavors are fresher than a normal falafel. The BLT is great with some of their homemade chili paste and the "bacon" has a great smoky flavor. However, if you are feeling a bit more adventurous, you have to try the BBQ Seitan sandwich. It is my favorite thing on the menu and I get it every time! It's probably my favorite sandwich in Burlington to be honest. I'm not sure what they put in the sauce that's so good but I can't not get it when I go there. The veggies in all their dishes taste fresh and are all flavorful. I even got this sandwich before I even knew what Seitan was (wheat gluten) and I don't know if that's what it normally tastes like but in this sandwich it rocks! Also, make sure to try the rosemary fries and onion rings. You can't go wrong with either!

UPDATE: Staff is more friendly, wider variety of food and beverages. Ginger soda Yum! Staff seems to be getting the hang of the setup here. Seems they put the cashiers behind the counter. Good move in my opinion as having someone roaming the small entryway was crowding people's personal space. Coffee: Maybe as good as Starbucks two doors down. But for pour over it should be way better. It's not bad, but not great.

Refreshing delicious meal. Fresh ingredients everywhere, people slicing on order not before. Didn't see a single freezer anywhere. My first time they recommended I go with a chickpea fritter (sort of a falafel)...holy cow was that good. Very fresh tasting, with some nice crunch. Rosemary fries were solid. Also got some sauce on the side, and I think I saw someone make it in the spot? Nice. Super hot though, be careful. Hot coffee, it's good and I am a huge coffee snob. Love the look of the place but it is very disorganized. Wandered into a blob, realized there were employees with iPhones to take your order. So I sort of lined up in the doorway, can't imagine how that works with a long line. Needs a rope or something. Sandwich was priced ok, coffee was a bit high ($3), and why can't I order a smaller fry size? A $1 version would be awesome and help keep the price down. Good value for $3 but just way too much for me. Disappointed the fried pickle was a 3pm thing. Interesting idea though, maybe put it on a different section of the menu, because that was confusing. Sounded amazing. I will definitely be back, they really nailed that chickpea fritter...mmmm. *Edit, fixed spelling errors I mashed in from the iphone, oops!

Truly fantastic! I've been an avid Clover fan since first devouring one of their breakfast sandwiches a few years back. Soon becoming a weekly staple (fix) of mine while in the Republic, I now find myself going out of my way while traveling the city outskirts to visit Jasper and team at the Burlington location. Like other Clovers, the clean food, open kitchen concept and transparent menu fosters more than an emotional draw of better well-being food, but instead one much more powerful that stems directly from sophisticated olfactory senses where taste and smell of 'damn good' food can't be replicated. Relatively inexpensive for what you get, Clover is one of the best values you'll find from a quality restaurant or any prepared food vendor (i.e. Whole Foods, other coffee joints) for that matter. Complemented by an informed and engaged staff, Clover Burlington is doing many things right - starting first and foremost with those incredible breakfast sandwiches and properly poured over coffee. Stop in, and for the same cost you incur every morning for status quo - have a taste of their amazingly delicious and healthy food and you'll never again think D&D & Starbuck do good coffee or breakfast.

By far the best lunch place in the area, and my favorite Clover location. The staff here are some of the friendliest and hardest working I have ever met. The speed of service here is faster than any other lunch place in Burlington regardless of the lunch rush. You can consistently find seating for 1-2 people. Seating 3-4 should be fine on most days. I've never been left standing if I come with a coworker or friend. When it comes to the offerings, Clover offers some of the healthiest and tastiest sandwiches you can find. I personally am addicted to the Japanese Sweet Potato, but if it's your first time the Chickpea Fritter is a classic. I highly recommend trying to the Hot Apple Cider - this is the best apple cider I have had in my life. There is also a rolling list of soups and sides - if the Peanut Soup is available it's a must try. Overall it's a great place and I cannot recommend it enough!

This was my first visit to a Clover and it was great! Food was awesome! I had the falafel fritter sandwich, rosemary fries and a ginger soda. The ginger soda was something I've never had before and it was very refreshing! I will definitely be going back and am considering joining one of their CSAs.

Another great find! Locally sourced, funky and fun menu. Feels like you just walked on to a set from the food network. Do not miss the popover breakfast sandwich with fried leeks and the paw-paw soda. Delicious! Staff was super friendly and informative. Slightly limited menu is the only reason for 4 vs 5 stars. Will be back!

I love this place. It is healthy, delicious food fast. My only complaint is the decor. It is very plain inside. All the walls are white. A few coats of colored paint would really liven the place up a bit.

I had seen Clover on Food Network and enjoyed their truck in Boston so was pumped when I stumbled across their Burlington location. I got the pop over breakfast sandwich. It was amazing and fresh. These people know what they're doing and I'm so glad they're doing it.

Great little place for vegetarian. I never liked eggplant until I had it here. This is my go to spot for a healthy lunch on the fly. Super clean, always friendly, nice rotation of specials. Don't be afraid to try something new! Give them a shot!

I've worked in Burlington for over 5 years and I have virtually have been to every lunch spot worth going to in the area. Since Clover opened last year it has been my go to spot for lunch and breakfast. For breakfast I usually get the breakfast sandwich. They use a fresh baked pita that is warm and soft. It's filled with a perfectly cooked soft boiled egg and fresh tomatoes and cheese. It pairs perfectly with their iced coffee, which they make as a pour over using freshly ground Barrington Roaster coffee beans. It is seriously so good I've pretty much stopped going to the Starbucks nearby. It takes a bit longer to make coffee this way, but for the taste it's totally worth it. For lunch my default is the BBQ Seitan sandwich. Again, they use a freshly baked pita that is warmed before constructing the sandwich. I wouldn't call the seitan fake meat - I'm not sure what I'd compare it too. All I know is that it is smothered in BBQ sauce and is warm and tasty. At times I'll pair the sandwich with an order of the rosemary fries. They are not the best fries I've had, but they are certainly one of the best seasoned I've had. I usually make a mixture of Sriracha and ketchup they have handy to dip them in.

My coworker and I come here for breakfast and lunch at least 3 times a week. I am by no means a vegetarian, but the food is awesome! The staff is great and very friendly. Since the menu changes quite often (possibly seasonal) it's tough knowing if you will like whats new, but the staff will always give you an honest opinion. All of the food comes from local state organic farms, so you know it is legit. Vanilla soda is bomb!

Fast Food, but great food. I've eaten at all the lunch spots in the Burlington area, and there are a lot of good ones. But if you're looking for a tasty, fresh, and healthy lunch, Clover is the place. The menu changes daily based on what they've procured from local vendors that morning. You'll find that everything is made to order, and made quickly. You'll find items and ingredients that you haven't had before. Everything they make is clean and fresh, and most importantly it's always delicious. I love the Seitan Chicken BBQ) and Chickpea Fritters (Clover's version of falafel) sandwiches.

Excellent restaurant. Great food. Good price. I'm a carnivore, but I'm married to a vegetarian, so I'm used to trading down in terms of food. No trade off here. This was awesome. The barbecue Seitan sandwich was excellent! I'll be back here again!

It can be hard to find good vegetarian food in Burlington, so I'm glad Clover has opened here. I like the salads and fries best, and the beverages are unique and they are all fantastic. The sandwiches are OK. The service can be a little slow and they do make mistakes or forget who ordered what, but they are friendly and care about getting it right in the end.

So glad they opened up a place here! We moved out of the Cambridge area and missed the food truck in Kendall. Vegetarian fast food, yaay! Fairly cheap, fairly fast, and pretty good! The sandwiches are the best - it seems like you don't get as much in the platters. The ginger soda is awesome!

    (4)
  • Maya M.

I had the egg and eggplant platter and it was delicious! The portions are big and very filling. And the place has a fun, light atmosphere! Definitely a great spot, especially in the summer. They also have a few beer options on tap which was much appreciated :)

I love this place. Their portion sizes are huge (I have yet to finish a full chickpea fritter). Their product is fresh. I love the open kitchen. I don't have to worry about cross contamination because it's a 100% vegetarian restaurant! When I need a quick bite to eat, this is my favorite place to go.

One hell of a vegetarian food 'lab' in the burlington area. The food is flavorful and very fresh. I think most of the food is gluten free but an expert knows better than me. The cucumber salad, carrot salad are amazingly fresh. I am not a huge fan of their grilled mushrooms. Ginger soda is something to try. taste them before you buy. French fries are so-so here.

After a visit to Lahey, I decided to stop to another restaurant in the plaza for some to-go food when I saw the sign for Clover. I was instantly excited by their menu. Being a vegetarian it is hard for me to find little more than a salad or the occasional tofu dish on the menu, but not here. First off, Jasper offered me a sample of the peach lemonade-YUMMY! I don't even like peach lemonade. I got the run down of the menu from the guy with dreads (I didn't catch his name). For a carnivore, he was very knowledgable. I ordered the BBQ Seitan sandwich, which was very messy, as described. My friend ordered the heirloom tomato sandwich and happily ate it with no complaints. If I were to go back daily, the consistent thing on my tab would be the fries. DO NOT GO TO CLOVER AND NOT ORDER THE FRIES! They are the perfect shoestring size; the perfect crunch; not too salty; and fried with rosemary. I would have given Clover 5 stars but I haven't tried everything they have to offer yet, and I wasn't a big fan of the coffee. Also, if I have to give a negative review, soy milk, not whole milk, should be offered for the coffee. I will be back, but what to get? I'll have to peruse the menu ahead of time. Fries and ginger soda-YES!

Amazing, creative, and inventive food combinations! I tried the summer special, I think it was called the Enzo and it was mind blowingly good. Sadly, the next time I went they'd moved on to a new special. Maybe it will come back next year. The other sandwiches I've tried are the Chickpea Fritter and the Eggplant and Egg. Not quite the Enzo, but they were excellently executed in their own right. One thing that annoys the piss out of me though is that they use a smartphone (or something that looks like one) to enter your order. Once you start giving your order the kid behind the counter "picks up his phone" and plays with it the whole time you're ordering, holding it close to his face because it's so small. So distracting. I normally wouldn't have a conversation with someone who's playing with their phone. The first time I went in there, not knowing he was entering my order, I felt like saying, "You know what? I'll just come back when you're ready." It doesn't matter if you know that it's actually the world's tiniest POS system, it's viscerally aggravating. If it has to be that way because Clover is so hip and cool and modern, then use an f-ing tablet and explain to your "guests" what it's for. Fun Review Facts - 1/3 about how great the food is. 2/3 about how annoying their POS system is.

Really cool concept with values of selling local-ish fresh food at good price- kudos on that!! Menu changes often, was yummy but the amount of offerings was a little disappointing. Decor was a little plain as well. Looking forward to seeing what they offer on menu next time I visit! Very Vegan Friendly too

Yummy! Very similar to the other clover locations -- lots of good vegetarian options. Fries and lemonade, all delish. I wish more of the special/seasonal sandwiches were available without milk products. Also, this location still hasn't worked out some of the kinks. I've had my order messed up a few times, which is kind of a bummer when I get it to-go, so don't realize it until 20 minutes later at home... Nonetheless, yummy.

First time here today, for lunch. The staff was very friendly and helpful, as I didn't have a clue what they served and had a lot of questions. Cucumber salad is fresh and delicious, as is the hummus. The falafel ... I could eat them until I pass out. And at breakfast they have popovers the size of small mountains. Enough said.

Went to a new place for lunch today. A friend recommended I try "Clover" ( cloverfoodlab.com ) here in Burlington since they make everything fresh on the spot, yet fast. I read they have no freezers in their kitchen and their menu changes daily (somewhat) based on what ingredients they have on hand. I was curious as to how they operate, so I went. I walked in and noticed a giant digital menu on the wall, there were only a handful of choices so after scanning the menu, I went with a chickpea fritter sandwich and a banana soda. The cashier used a cellphone and a card reader to take the order. To me this is a great idea as there is no need for large registers, and the cashier can take your order anywhere, as opposed to making the customer queue up in a small area to order. The wait time was about 3 minutes and they cut up all the foods in front of you. Unlike Subway's, where the food sits in the little containers and they put it on your sandwich when you order, Clover folks actually cut up the veggies in front of you. While waiting I scanned the menu and noticed everything was vegetarian. All the "meat" sandwiches had "soy" written next to it, like the "soy BLT sandwich". I checked myself in and saw that it's under "vegan restaurant". So I guess this is my first vegan joint. So after getting me sandwich I much say, this is one of the best sandwiches I've had. Everything in it was quite tasty. When you take a bite, you can tell exactly what you're eating. Carrot, onions, chickpea, cabbage, tomato, cucumber... You can taste each ingredient in the sandwich. The banana soda was pretty good. The banana taste isn't overwhelming at all. I was expecting a sweet blast of banana, but nope. Overall it was good experience. Price isn't bad. Sandwich and soda was $8. Only other place you will beat in portions for that price is a chinese restaurant. I would definitely go again. Only drawback is that the menu is pretty limited, so picky eaters beware.

  • Danielle A.

I give this place 10 stars if I could. The food is always fresh (they don't freeze anything overnight) and the staff is always fantastic. They know exactly what is in all the dishes and are more than willing to explain for you. They don't serve any meat but I've taken plenty of my meat-eating friends here and they have all loved it. Food comes out quickly also.

Clover has opened my very carnivore husband up to eating at vegetarian and vegan restaurants... Which makes his vegan wife incredibly happy. He's obsessed with the BBQ seitan I personally like the chickpea fritter (falafel) platter better it comes with 3 fresh salads which are different daily

Been to Clover a few times now. Tonight was the best. The chickpea fritter sandwich is generally my go-to meal, but I was happy to see something different on the menu tonight - Japanese sweet potato sandwich. Yummm! Sweet potato, cabbage, and a delightful combo of whatever else stuffed into a pita pocket. It was perfect. I always go through so many napkins at Clover, cause it's messy, but it's well worth it. OH I almost forgot, I tried the rosemary French fries for the first time and they were fantastic. Happy that I could give this place a good rating tonight. It's tough going here with b.good next door (my favorite veggie burger). Can't wait for the Central Square location to be open for when I go to shows at Middle East.

The popover sandwich was very good for breakfast. It's basically a popover, cheese, egg or tempeh and a slice of tomato. It usually comes with mayo and I was able to get mine without. The oatmeal was a bit runny, but the strawberries were fresh. It's served in a coffee cup. Had to try it, won't get it again. They had a food truck come around Burlington before they opened and I was able to try their chick pea fritters, aka, falafel. The highlight was the pickled vegetables. I would absolutely give them a try if you live or work in the area. It's vegetarian for carnivores.

Its on a high traffic area near Burlington mall and gets crowded around lunch time. They don't have a big menu but everything seems really good. I've tried their food truck in Boston and was eager to visit here. The chickpeas fritter and rosemary fries are delicious.

So so so so good. I had the chickpea fritter sandwich (basically a falafel), a side of the corn and potato salad, a ginger soda and a whooped pie. My friend had the chickpea fritter sandwich, rosemary fries and a blood orange soda. Everything was unbelievably fresh, not that expensive ,portions were filling but not massive. Highly recommended for a before or after movie meal..Burlington amc is around the corner. Only downside is that they close at 9pm (thats why I docked a star) but if you get the boot like I did sit at the patio of bgood next door :)

I was meeting someone at the mall and needed a quick breakfast. What luck! These guys just opened up today. Everyone was super nice and the environment was pleasing. It would be perfect for catching up with friends or studying at one of their communal tables. I got a soft poached egg breakfast sandwich on homemade wheat pita bread- it was delicious! Also of interest to note is they have a baby changing station in the bathroom.

Came here for breakfast and had a delicious yogurt granola parfait. They use good fresh ingredients and I liked that it wasn't too sweet. The coffee was the best I've ever had, if a little pricey. I really liked the decor and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I will certainly come back next time I'm in the area.

Like a lot of other reviewers, I tried the chickpea fritter sandwich and rosemary fries. To say OMG would be an understatement. This sandwich was sooooo good...the pickled veggies on top were also deeeeeliscious, and the rosemary fries were splendid. And, like a lot of other reviewers, I agree about the odd set-up in clover. There's no cash register; instead, you have an employee who greets you, places the order, and gives you change from their apron pocket which is a little unconventional. They make the meal as soon as they receive the order, and they don't ask you if the food is to-go. I had to ask for them to wrap it and place it in a bag. I also had to wait a bit for my fries to be made. Not a huge deal, but if they smoothed out these glitches in the serving system then I'd give them 5 stars. The inside also seems very spartan with bar stool seating, but also looked clean and industrial. I'll definitely be back soon for another sandwich!

How do you define perfection? Easy: the popover breakfast sandwich. Warm, hearty, bursting with flavor, made with love. These folks care about food quality and service. I've had their iced teas (wow!), both breakfast sandwiches, the scrumptious chick pea fritters, the eggplant and egg sandwich and it is all top notch. Believe me when I tell you that you won't miss the meat. Can't wait to go back.

Highlight: the chickpea fritter sandwich, delicious though oddly named...do they think we don't know what felafel is? Homemade ginger soda is great. Rosemary french fries are tasty but limp rather than crispy. The BBQ seitan sandwich was good, but suffered from a sauce that was too sweet and mild. The place looks nice, but eating in isn't very pleasant. Instead of chairs they have unpadded backless wooden cubes. No plates are provided, so if the wrapping comes off your overstuffed sandwich you have a mess to clean up. I get that they're committed to being green and minimalist, with everything compostable. It just doesn't provide much comfort. That said, a vegetarian restaurant with a commitment to quality fast food is a great addition to the neighborhood.

The chickpea fritter is the bomb! And for 6 and change its cheaper than other sandwich shops in the area. This is my 2nd day in a row getting it. However the menu is very limited for thst big of a place. mire options would be good. descriptions of the items on the menu would also be nice.

Read the reviews so I decided to try clover. I had the chickpea fritter sandwich. sandwich was huge filled with too much humus too much cabbage and six little balls of fritter. I ate the fritters and threw most of the sandwich away. Also tried rosemary fries. I have no idea what the big deal is. They were fries with a minimal amount of rosemary. I really wanted to like this place. The staff was very nice. Cashier explained the menu to me. Unfortunately I cannot recommend.

My first time at the Clover Food Lab was a great experience. We ordered the barbecued seitan sandwich, (seitan is known as "wheat meat"and really high in protein). It was delicious! Wrapped in a pita pocket, smothered in a mild barbecue sauce with some fresh greens. The seitan was really tender. The sauce had the perfect ratio of sweet and tangy. It's kind of messy, but its that kind of casual place. We also had the rosemary fries, also good, and the fresh made soda drinks. I had blood orange, made with fresh orange and simple syrup, my husband had the vanilla. Both were a nice change from water or a diet coke! I'm sure I'll go back. I'd like to try some of their other freshly made options. Super casual.

A little different from your usual quick food joint but the it's worth it for the food.

I have to downgrade my original review from 5 to 4 stars. The people working here have WAY too much pep in their step. The moment you walk through the door, they rush bouncing over to you standing between you and the menu asking for your order. It is very bizarre. I often find myself deciding against going there strictly due to this. Food is really good, but the staff seriously needs to just calmate, chill out, be cool. Cheers!

This was our first visit to the Clover BUR location, which we made after they reopened from their corporate-wide shutdown. We have previously been to the HSQ location numerous times. Michael (Store Manager) was super nice, and we delighted ourselves to a dinner of eggplant (no egg), chickpea fritter, Soy BLT, and some in-house made and yummy blueberry soda and blueberry lemonade. The food was quite delicious that we not only went back immediately after for another couple of sandwiches, but we then proceeded to head back in after finishing those for another.

A for effort, B. for food. First, accolades for a healthier alternative however would encourage Clover to fine tune some of their recipes. For example, their hummus of all things should be excellent and yet it is uninspired. The popovers on the other hand are excellent. The environmentally conscious use and disposal of materials is commendable. Glad to have this in the suburbs.

Decent chickpea fritter sandwich but surprisingly bad rosemary fries.. It was so limp and flavorless. If I ever go back there it would be for the Chickpea fritter sandwich.

I ate here yesterday for the first time and thought it was great! My coworker thought it was just okay, she's a meat and potatoes person (as am I) and thought it was a bit fru fru. However, I loved it. I started basic with the chickpea platter and there were about 10 people in front of me ordering the same. The pita bread was outstanding, thick and hot and delicious. The menu is small which is a good thing for me! The order taker said the fried brussell sprout sandwich was also really good and I may try that next time. I don't agree with the price rating for this, I would say it's $ and not $$. My lunch cost $8.46. I thought that was good. I will definitely go back and have recommended this spot to other coworkers as well.

Good food and places to park. Go figure. Clover doesn't look like it belongs in Burlington. Tucked in a little strip mall across from the behemoth Burlington shopping center, it's very different than it's neighbors. If you walk past and peer through the window, you can only sorta tell that it's a restaurant. With the conspicuous lack of cash registers and the enormous, open kitchen area it looks more like a up-scale culinary school classroom. Sure enough, it's a little piece of Cambridge stuck in the midst of the 'burbs. It's got everything a suburbanite might love about that (interesting, well-cooked food in a unique setting) and some of the things they might not (mostly their hipster-without-a-cause modus operandi). It's worth stating up front that this is a vegetarian place, which is neither a pro nor a con in my book. There are lots of tasty ways to make vegetarian food. And it doesn't seem to be vegetarian for health-consciousness reasons, either -- there are lots of tasty fried options. Anyway, if you want a cheese steak you should look elsewhere. So, here's the breakdown. First, the cons: * The whole ordering system is jacked. I think they're trying to project a cool, techno-savvy image with the whole 'we use iPods, not cash registers' thing. But with the tiny screens, the non-traditional menu, the hit-or-miss card swiping system, the slightly-too-small area near the door and the inevitable flux of slightly befuddled mall patrons it's really inefficient and a bit awkward to place your order. In a food truck setting it makes sense to use a small, mobile platform, and I know their origins are with food trucks but still...it's silly and feels forced. * Speaking of the menu, you have about 20 square feet of monitor space for the menu. It'd be a good idea to put some descriptions of the food next to the names. 'Breakfast sandwich' is a bit nondescript. * It might because they only recently opened, but they don't seem to quite have their stuff together yet. For example: I placed a to-go order. Each item I ordered was offered over to me individually as it was prepared, which meant I had to stand there and keep stuffing my food, item-by-item, in a to-go bag. Sometimes the food comes out quickly, sometimes is really, really slow. I'm sure they'll get there, though. Whatever. I won't dock them a star for these. It's all fixable. And the pros: * Popovers and french fries. These are their secret weapons. All of their food is good, but I'll be coming back for these. For the uninitiated, popovers are like muffin-size Yorkshire puddings. Mostly hollow with a crunchy exterior and a spongy, egg-y interior. Stupidly good. I'm waiting for them to serve them with marmalade or jam or something. God, that'd be awesome. And the fries. Oh boy. They've got the same fry-making rig as In-N-Out burger out West, but the fries are SO much better than that. No ketchup need apply. Perfect as-is. * It's really tasty. Vegetarian can be done well, and they succeed at it. The ingredients seem fresh and you get the sense that it's all real food of the type that you might make for yourself if you were inclined. No mass-produced, form-pressed, preservative-laden crap here. * Prices are great. A $7 plate of food at Clover is every bit as filling as a $8 burrito from Chipotle next door, and way better tasting. * The staff are actually pretty friendly. They're all cooler than me. I'm ok with that. But they'll chat with you, and happily explain the menu, and if something is amiss they'll work to correct it. No complaints. Clover is a 8 minute drive from my house. It's by far the best fast food-style restaurant in the Burlington-Bedford-Billerica suburboplex. I have a feeling I'll be back regularly.

EAT THE CHICK PEA FRITTER. I quite literally just left this place no more than 20 mins ago, and being the food guru I am my impulsiveness to alert yelp of my 5 star approval is here. I was helping an office out in the area on my lunch break, and I was intending to go to Panera, but my GPS screwed up and I ended up on Mall Road. Frustrated that modern technology had let me down, I made my first left turn into the nearest plaza that seemed to have food in it. When realizing a new food joint, I just ran in without reading the menu at all. I was delighted to see this was a vegetarian place, and told the person working the register right off the bat I have never been here before and I wanted a sandwich. I was informed the chickpea fritter was a popular item, I went with his judgment and bought the sandwich. Oh man, when I got back to the office I was delighted by the bundle of healthy, sensationable goodness that I was about to eat. I saw carrots, cucumbers, falafel, chickpea(mashed?), and PICKLED ONIONS and RED CABBAGE ( I am Eastern European and love love love anything in brine, especially cabbage). This was a delightful tasting lunch, on top of a healthy one. I look forward to trying what else the menu has to offer!

This is a nice, clean place with a small menu but delicious vegetarian food! I went here for breakfast and loved their popover sandwich - a very tasty popover filled with fried leeks, smokey seitan, and tomato. Their regular breakfast sandwich was lacking in comparison - pita bread filled with a soft boiled egg, tomato, and cheese. I'd definitely return for the popover sandwich, not so much for the regular breakfast sandwich. They also feature cups full of yogurt, fresh fruit, and granola - a great way to fill yourself up further after the popover sandwich! I really enjoyed it. One weird thing about this place: the way their menu is set up, it makes it seem like you pay a certain price for multiple items.... turns out, it's that price for ONE item on the list. It's just kind of strange because they list a single price, then 2-3 items, then they list the SAME PRICE and a different 2-3 items. I can't be the only one who was confused about this. It wasn't a big deal, but it was very odd. Aside from the food, they have GREAT coffee here!!! All pour overs, one cup at a time, with delicious beans. They have Intelligentsia and George Howell coffee here. Super delicious and a perfect complement to the food items.

Will start with the pros: The design of the store is excellent. Minimalist, clean, bright and inviting. If I ran a restaurant, I would want it to look something like this. Added bonus with the kitchen in the middle of the restaurant in plain view. Kitchens should have nothing to hide. They have no garbage -- all the packaging and containers were compostable, a trend that we should see more of! Unfortunately, that is where the good things ended. The cons: * We came in for breakfast around 9:30 AM on a Sunday. The woman serving us was downright rude. As a Canadian, it takes a lot for me to call someone rude. There was only one other person in the restaurant, and we were a party of 6, including my two young children. * What was available on the breakfast menu was anything but clear. Thankfully, the options were clearly explained to us. * We were flat out told that it would be impossible to customize either of the breakfast sandwiches so that they would be suitable for vegans, unless all that we wanted was tomato on bread. That left plain oatmeal with fruit and a muffin, pretty much the same fare that I can pick up at Starbucks. * As soon as we sat down, the music was turned up, to the point where it made talking difficult. To be clear, my kids were being kids, but we were trying hard to keep their noise level down. * There was a lot of banging from the kitchen. Large treys dropped into the sink literally a few feet from us. This may be "normal" kitchen practice for this location, but my friend interpreted it as passive aggressiveness. Montreal's "Green Panther" restaurant operates very similarly -- local food, composts everything, all prep in house. But they take the ethics of what they are doing seriously and don't serve animal products there, and they have /always/ been child friendly. NOTE: I was going to give the restaurant 1 star because when I contacted them about the menu issues, I got not reply. However, my friend contacted them about the bad service and received a nice reply from Sophie who promised that if we spoke with the head chef next time we were there, he would "take care of us". Unfortunately, until they make something on the menu worth going in for, we won't be back.

I just happened upon this restaurant and Love love love it! Everything is so fresh and the chickpea fritter was to die for. So light and crispy! Everything was very tasty and I got a lot of food for not a lot of money. Definitely check them out!!

This was my first time to any Clover location. I wanted something tasty but not too heavy or processed and Clover fit the bill. It's not really grab & go food, since with the chopped salads and sides, everything requires a fork or spoon or extra napkins...I had the chickpea fritter sandwich, which comes dressed with various fresh salads, all yummy, but very messy :-) The menu, and decor, is minimalist, but well done. The ingredients seemed fresh, were well prepared and were served up by a cheery, efficient staff, who were more than happy to talk about the restaurant, the philosophy behind clover and how the food was prepared, what went into each dish, etc. In an open kitchen environment, this led to friendly chatter among the other diners as well, making for a nice, relaxed, welcoming environment. Oh, yeah, and the food was delicious, The food service and dining areas were impeccably clean. The only downside was the bathroom, which was nowhere near impeccably clean. It was really filthy - fixtures, walls, mirror, floor, everything looked like it had been used heavily and not cleaned for weeks. (I didn't use it; just turned around and went back out) That's the thing that stole a star from this review.

I went to clover with a co worker. I made the mistake of mentioning that it is "veg" and he asked if I was into BBQ instead. But we walked in and was greeted by a friendly Clover worker. I have a masters degree and was a bit confused over the menu. It was sort of illegibly written and I had no idea what some items were. Maybe some description on what "seitan" is would help a newbie like me? If 10-20% of everyday customers are new how do they choose? Obviously the chickpea fritter, since we've all heard if those. The greeter was a bit awkward so I wasn't sure if he knew what everything was or would taste like so I just went ahead with Mr fritter. So here I am, business casual dressed elbow deep in dripping sauce. Would the platter have been less messy? Not sure what it is but maybe. Look, I'm in a CSA, I understand that farm fresh changes daily. But there was no clue or idea or picture of the menu on the website. I look at menus at the local pizza place-clover is even more new and foreign. I sat next to the cook who did ask how it was. Was that the right time to launch into a diatribe of how the pickled onions maybe needed a bit of spice? I just answered that it was good. It was good and I thought that the flavors all held their own and complemented. The strawberry soda was a tad weak but worth the try. My recommendations - have locations post pictures daily of the menu on the website (I'm 32 and don't use twitter if that's your answer). Have someone pull new people aside and ask what they like (spicy, salad, flavor explosion). We went back and told a few co workers about the experience and they didn't seem to be in a rush to visit. But maybe they will skip their gym workout one time and try it.

Clover rotates menu options daily but the menu is pretty limited. There are a few sandwiches, few sides, and a few platters. I also found if weird that if you were dining in, they don't give you a plate with your sandwich. They just hand it to you. The homemade sodas are good....ask for a sample of the lavender soda. I had the chickpea fritter sandwich which is basically a falafel. It tasted fine but it's messy without a plate! Overall, it's an ok place but probably a better lunch spot than dinner. I hope they add a few more options to the menu.

This is one of my favorite lunch places. It has a cool factor and the staff are always friendly (once they gave me free fries because they made them by mistake.) The food is great as long as you appreciate stuff you won't find in a mall food court. I could eat 20 lbs of the rosemary fries. I haven't figured out the best drink option yet. The seating is good and the parking is bad. It's a little weird they don't have wifi. I always look forward to going there.

What a relief, finally, vegetarian fast food. Yet I'm a bit puzzled. The price is right for the chickpea sandwich. Yes Virginia it is falafel and it's a big sandwich with humus and pickled veggies. It's solidly a good value. The falafel is good and not at all greasy. And the pita is nice and thick. If you are lucky enough to live near Norwood To Beirut has better falafel sandwiches and stronger pickles. But the place looks like a warehouse and they don't even give you a plate. (Though they play cool music-Appalachian, R & B and Patsy Cline while I was there.) It's stripped and looks industrial. There's not a single chair with a back on it. It does not make me feel like hanging out. Even more puzzling is the very high quality loose leaf tea. They don't put it in a tea bag. They tell you it will be ready when the tea leaves sink. Um...it's been 10 minutes. There are still floaters and when I tried to drink it I was pulling tea leaves out of my teeth. I make loose leaf tea every day at home. So I know I can rebrew the leaves twice more, thanks. But how to drink it in the first place? Not the way of tea. Finally most of the sandwiches are fried, have cheese and or mayo. Um. Tasty but not so healthy. They do have nutrition information and if you are trying to avoid saturated fat or on a diet you are going to need it. 15 mins. Tea leaves still floating. I will come back and try the other sandwiches. I won't order tea.Update: I showed them the tea and they offered my money back. I asked him to strain it instead. The service is good here and everything is compostable which is great. Still want a plate and a tea bag.
