Loved loved loved this place. We went in pretty late around 9:30 or 10pm. The owner, I'm guessing, greeted us with great enthusiasm! Told is about some really great things they had to offer. The bar tender was amazing, great drink suggestions. Mine had glitter in it!! Amazing! The food quality was just as amazing. The manager there was really friendly and very helpful as well. I had the dumplings which were to die for, I eat a lot of Asian food and these were one of the best! My boyfriend had The changs chicken which had amazing flavors. I kept trying to steal his meal! Overall the ambiance was very relaxing and the food was great! We will definitely be coming back when we visit Boston again!

warning: LONG & detailed Friday 8:30PM, 3 people, no wait. It was my first time coming out to the North End, and Koy was definitely the right choice of restaurant to visit. The interior of the restaurant was perfect - modern but comfortable, awesome decor all around the restaurant and great atmosphere all in all. By 8:30, it was pretty bustling inside with the late dinner crowd, but not overwhelmingly loud, which made conversing with my company, waiters, etc. much easier than other places. Food: Water chestnuts: I don't know what water chestnuts are, and had to google what it looked like, but the slightly sweet chestnut with the salty bacon wrapped around it was a great start & a surprisingly addicting plate -- highly recommended Spicy wings: A spicier, saucier version of some of the Korean wing chains in boston. I personally never order spicy wings, but these were delicious! The meat was soft and moist, the sauce was abundant but not overwhelming, and gochujang sauce was peculiar in a way that made it more flavorful than the common spicy wings out there. Cheese steak dumplings: These were gone within 5 minutes of it arriving. That's how delicious it was. The fried dumplings were especially crispy on the outside to the point where you could hear the "crunch", but then hot and warm in the inside. The cheese was what I really loved though - it was perfectly creamy and slightly salty enough to season and compliment the dumplings. -- highly recommended Hot stone bibimbap: The hot stone makes ALL the difference when it comes to bibimbap. And trust me, I know my rice dishes lol. That crunchy layer of rice you get when the rice is sitting in the hot stone for a few minutes is THE BOMB. Make sure to mix up those veggies well and have a bite into heaven -- highly recommended Short Rib Stew (galbi jjim): I loooooove galbi jjim. And my mom makes a mean one. And this was almost as good, and that means a lot. It was slightly on the sweeter side, which my friend actually preferred. We ate all the short rib, and put the left over rice into the stew, and the result was heavenly - sweet, savory, and hearty. Pepper Octopus Leg (MUST GET): Man, the visual of this dish is 5 stars in the first place. That long perfectly braised octopus on top of red pepper salad and delicious chili mayonnaise. I've had a lot of octopus dishes (it seems to be quite a popular ingredient recently) and I've never seen it come out like this! At first I was worried that it would be hard to cut the leg, but man, the soft octopus leg just breaks and melts into the knife. So soft, yet chewy and delicious. Make sure to grab that red pepper to add a crunch to the bite! -- HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Dessert: French Toast Sweet brioche, topped with ice cream, dark chocolate, and coffee-boiled peanuts? How could this NOT be amazing? I was the perfect finish to a great meal. Drinks: Soju Sangria: If you're into sweeter, fruitier drinks, go with this. Even if you're not a fan of soju. The lychee, aloe, lemon makes the drinks SO DELICIOUS. I was slurping this down and could not believe it was alcoholic! -- highly recommended Blackberry ginger smash: This drink is also fruity, but taste slightly stronger than the soju sangria. But the subtle ginger scent and the bits and pieces of blackberry was a good combination. The classy drunk: This was my favorite drink, and my friend also said it was the best one. If you like whiskey, this is the drink to get. Sometimes I'm put off by that sting that whiskey has sometimes, but this drinks was perfect. It was a good cocktail that you weren't slurping down, but could enjoy each sip slowly in a conversation. My friend got it over ice, and it was just as good actually. -- HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Service: Service was exceptional. I was carrying a big bag, and immediately the girl at the front opened the door for me, which was so nice. When I was seated, the service was fast and very courteous, and very helpful with the menu too actually. The waiter and owners stopped by numerous times to make sure the food was to our likings, and we really appreciated their meticulous care. One of the best I've had in boston so far, and would definitely love to come again.

Not your traditional Korean Restaurant and not impressive at all. Small place, modern decoration but the food lacked of fresh and tasty ingredients, unless there's a hidden menu that everyone is so impressed about... Every time I visit Boston I like to check new places and if the food doesn't cut it I usually don't try it twice, as for the service was ok. Need to up sale drinks-water without asking is a plus!!! So thank you. Lemme tell you about my meal, I got an appetizer to share and it was the SCALLION PANCAKE (PAHJEON) it was round and big as a 12" pizza and cut as a pizza too, it lacked of flavor and it was dry and the dipping sauce wasn't enough. We ate it because we were hungry. For main dish we got the KOREAN MISO POT it was very salty and the supposed sliced beff was more like grounf beef, also the kimchi served with the dish was kinda old tasting. As for the MASTER CHANG'S CHICKEN it was more like sweet and sour chicken and orange chicken mixed together it was too sweet and it felt very greasy with the mayo. The place was ok. Please make more improvements in the menu and try using fresh ingredients as the food tastes like it's not fresh. Thank you.

Came in here for late lunch. Ordered the pear salad, which was very nice, as well as the veggie bibimbap. I am told that they have a seasonal menu. Good service, nice décor and art work.

I've never been a fan of fusion restaurants.. Why change something that's working?? That brings me to the first reason I really enjoyed Koy: they do fusion, but they also do traditional dishes and they do them well! Bibimbop is described to be the staple of Korean traditional cuisine, so I hold it with high regard... Koy killed it (in a good way). It comes out on a flat stone dish instead of the usual stone pot, which scared me at first because I was like, "how am I supposed to mix this without spilling everything?" (ugh #basicgirlcomplaint, I know -__- sorry) Thankfully, we had a skilled friend who assisted in the process and it was DELICIOUS. We had to ask for more gochujang because they only gave us 2 little containers... Once we added the appropriate amount, it seriously hit the spot. The crunchy rice stuck to the bottom (aka nooreungjee) was GOLD. We also ordered a pitcher of beer, which was only ~$10-12. I think that's the cheapest pitcher I've seen in Boston & they also pre-frost the cups for the beer. Nice move, Koy... You know how to win a girl's heart. Minus one star because we ordered the wrong dumplings due to an incorrectly captioned yelp photo and they were really underwhelming. If you are reading my review, it's the CHEESESTEAK dumplings that are delicious, not the carnitas dumplings. The carnitas dumplings has a balsamic vinegar/soy sauce dressing over it. The problem? The sauce is too overpowering & the pork filling is a bit dry and bland. We quickly realized our mistake after our first bite and ordered the cheesesteak dumplings - my mouth was in heaven. Service was great. Made a reservation for 5 at 7:30 and they sat us immediately (the entire party does not need to be present. MAJOR PLUS). We stayed for 4 hours just chatting over beer and some food; it was a true wine&dine experience... something I haven't been able to do comfortably in Boston. FYI Koy is taking part in Boston's restaurant week (3/1-3/6 & 3/8-3/13)! Take advantage and try it out :)

4.5! b. and I enjoyed a great meal here the other night after Catarina, one of the managers, kindly reached out and invited us back to try their new and improved menu. While we did not meet Catarina in person unfortunately, Dan, another one of the managers, was there to greet us and took great care of us throughout our meal. He was super friendly, informative, and attentive without hovering. So here's the breakdown: DRINKS b. got the Rose Water cocktail, which sounded super sweet with honey and lychee but Dan assured her that it would be mellow and fragrant instead. Sure enough, it smelled amazing and also packed a punch...WHOOOEEEE. I got the Koy Juice of the Month, which was their spin on a mojito with apple-infused vodka - refreshing. FOOD Our Tuna Tartare appetizer, a new addition to the menu and supposedly a fast favorite, was beautifully presented with a wonderful combination of flavors and textures from the tuna, garlic, avocado, and seaweed salad. While the marinade was delicious, there was a little too much of it, which could become overpowering. For entrées, Dan recommended the Pepper Octopus Leg but cautioned that it might not necessarily be filling on its own depending on one's appetite. We decided to order two legs - the meat was super tender and paired well with the sriracha mayo. Visually, the dish was artfully colorful and appealed to the eye. However, we agreed that it would probably be better listed as an appetizer. I decided to go with the traditional Hot Stone Bibimbap, which was pretty good but not standout-ingly so. Overall, we really enjoyed everything. DESSERT They have patbingsu! It was a surprisingly large portion - the shaved ice, sweet red bean, fresh fruit, and colorful mochi chunks were all topped with a large scoop of coconut ice cream, its flavor enhanced by a sprinkle of cinnamon and lime zest. We appreciated how it wasn't too sweet. Overall, its presentation makes for a fun dessert for sharing. This second round at Koy was a huge improvement from the first. The professionalism and care demonstrated by the management alone makes Koy a standout and deserves a star. They care about the customer experience, are open to feedback, and seek to continue improving themselves. The next time I'm wandering around the Government Center/Faneuil Hall area, I definitely look forward to stopping in again. Thanks Catarina and Dan!

I haven't had a lot of Korean experiences but Koy proved itself as an amazing one. I came in here with a group of 7 on a weekend and were accommodated pretty quickly for lunch. The service was amazing and the food was just as good. I went with the Korean Hot Po. I was expecting it to be baked noodles but instead it was basically a stew/soup with a ton of broth. It contained with marinated bulgogi, sweet beef broth, vermicelli, baby oyster and enochi mushrooms. It was all great but the beef broth really complete the dish. It was so good and it warmed the soul on a bitter Boston day. I would come back in a heart beat and try out a bulgogi sandwich.

My friend had a gilt city so we had come here to check it out. According to my friend, Koy just opened. It's right in Faneuil hall area. The place is split between bar and restaurant. Not too big of a place, but definitely not small. Probably would be a fun after work kind of place (soju sangria sounded intriguing). Menu had some pretty interesting dishes. Get the carnitas dumplings, those were pretty delicious (comes with 6 dumplings). I would definitely stick to the "twists" aka the Korean fusion courses on the menu since the traditional is overpriced. We got the drunken chicken sandwich, bulgogi sandwich, kimchi burger, and steak tips fajita. The sandwiches weren't amazing. Steak tips were interesting, didn't come with any tortilla or rice. Presentation wise.. Everything looked kind of ehhh? Just looked like the sandwiches had everything just thrown on to the plate. Fries were too salty. After the meal I felt like I had to drink a gallon of water, everything was heavily salted. Overall, get the carnitas dumplings if you do go. Maybe get a drink with it after work. Not really sure if I would come back to this place unless there was a deal.

Went here for the first time last night as my friends and I were planning on going out in the Fanueil area. I had a few close friends in town from out of state and wanted to make sure we took them to a tasty, but reasonable place in the area. PROs: The food was really delicious. From the steak tips, to the bibimbap, to my kimchi fried rice bowl, everything was very tasty. Definitely do not pass on the scallion pancakes for an app either! Oh and portions were well sized! I wish I wasn't headed out to the bars after and I could've taken my kimchi rice bowl home with me as I always take my leftovers. :) There was also good service. Our server was very nice, informed and attentive. I did feel the manager was a little overbearing and didn't want to give her the space to do her job (and she was doing a great job). However, overall, I think he meant well, and wanted to make sure we ordered delicious entrees and were happy with our choices. CON: The only real issue I had with this place happened at the end. It was a group of only four of us and we asked to split the check. On the back, we wrote the exact name/card # and how much to put on each card. We only used three credit cards, and I've never had a restaurant struggle with this process, but it took an extra 15 or so minutes for the server to get a manager to sign off/approve the payment method. This is something that the rather new establishment could easily work on changing. It's common to have large parties come into your restaurant and want to easily split the bill without any hassle. Overall, try it out for the food and mostly reasonable prices. You won't be disappointed with the tasty food items!

Great staff, great food! What more could you ask for. It's like stepping into another world after fighting the crowded faniuel hall streets. My new go to when I'm in the area.

Went with friends for RW but after seeing the menu, which did not include any of their more well-known items, we decided to order just off the menu. They sat us quickly even though we were early for our reservation. The restaurant was kinda dark, which I don't enjoy as it was difficult to see the colors in my food. The wait staff was pleasent but kept making mistakes bringing the wrong food or getting us confused with another party of 6 that was there that night. It felt a bit disorganized but at least we were not rushed through our meal! My friends ordered cocktails, which seemed pricey but smelled as girly, fruity, sweet, and delicious as they sounded on the drinks list. I had a beer that was not noteworthy but light and pleasent. For appetizers, we had the heavily recommended cheesesteak dumplings and pajeon. The dumplings were pretty good, had a heavy cheese nacho flavor to it. The pajeon was really lackluster. It hardly had any seafood and it did not have much scallions in it either. It was more of a Chinese style scallion pancake than the Korean pajeon. I wish we ordered the water chestnuts instead. A couple of people had the jajangmyun, which they said was fine but left a lot of on plate by the time the rest of us finished eating. The sandwiches looked decent (dont remember which were ordered) The grilled octopus looked amazing and I regretted not ordering it. I had the kimchi fried rice with chorizo, which used an interesting kind of rice (it felt a bit bigger and rounder than the short grain skinny rice my family uses, almost like a risotto) and was wet rather than dry. I am partial to the wet fried rice so I was pleased. It was honestly a dangerous dish to order since I am Korean and of course am used to the fried rice I make at home. The owner randomly came out to us at the end of the meal and asked if everything went OK. Some people might enjoy an encounter like that but I was kind of shocked because we did not give any indications that we didn't enjoy the meal and he didn't really introduce himself before asking.

Great modern space Cute koy paintings Reasonable prices Great Bepim bap The Cheese-steak dumplings are really Reuben's but sinfully delicious Owner came over and chatted with us, which was a nice touch. This is definitely somewhere i'll be heading back to!

I went to try this place with a friend on a Friday night and surprisingly it was not crowded like I thought it would be. The decor is very nice and beautiful paintings my favorite is the one at the entrance. We got seated very quickly and our waiter is very nice. We started with some cocktails which one was a little to tart but other then that it was pretty good. For appetizers we order the fried calamari and the cheese steak dumplings. The fried calamari was amazing a little Korean twist and spicy mayo on the side. The cheese steak dumplings was ok to me it taste like hot dogs. Main course I order the tofu stew and my friend order bibimbap, the tofu stew was pretty good it remind me a lot of the vietnamese noodle soup call bun rieu. Finally desert I was very excited to try the Korean shave ice and was very surprise to see it come with coconut ice cream and lots of fruits.very refreshing and a great way to end. Overall I had a great time and will come back again

Came with a party of 7, ordered a lot of drinks, apps, and entrees. To start, the restaurant looks nice, clean, and modern. We walked in with high expectations given it's 4.5 stars on yelp. Service: really kind staff, but just terrible. They're either under staff or just really slow. We had to ask for all of our drinks, order our entries, and to bring parts of our entries multiple times. Every one seemed lost. Food (Korean): Just bad! All of the so-called traditional items were just poorly executed. The Korean pancakes where made from the Korean pancake premixed package that was doughy. The Korean wings, well, it wasn't Korean wings, not even close. The Korean tofu soup, normally one of my go-to items, the first time was just bad, barely notice any seafood, flavor is off, just not done right. The second time was better because they added some seafood (it's a Korean seafood tofu spicy soup). They forgot to bring me the rice, had to ask 3 times. Now, the rice, it's really sad when the rice is just not cooked right, even America style Chinese carry out rice is better. Don't need to get into the stone bibimbap, just bad. Fusion food: terrible! The bulgogi sandwich consist of dry precooked bulgogi on top of a cold slice of mozzarella and garnished with carrots and green onions. The tuna, well, I'm just going to stop there with the food. Lastly, what did bothered me the least since everything went terribly bad was the hot tea. They gave me warm water with a tea bag, but the water wasn't hot enough to bring out the flavor of the tea, so I kindly asked for a pot of hot boiled water (4 times before they brought the water). And that hot boiled water was still not hot, hotter then the warm water, but not hot enough to make tea with. I will probably never go back there, and strong advise not to go there.

I had built this restaurant up a lot in my head and it pretty much lived up to the hype. The menu is very unique and I definitely want to try just about every dish. My fiancé and I had a late lunch/early dinner here on a Saturday. It was a very random time so we were the only people there. We had: -Cheesesteak Dumplings- as others have said, amazing! We were almost fighting over the last one. Definitely a must try. -Chili Shrimp- These were my least favorite of the meal and probably what's holding me back from a five star review (it's close). The chili sauce was great but the quality of the shrimp just didn't taste up to par. They were a bit tough and rubbery in my opinion. Not bad, just not great. -Jjajangmyun- Amazing! This was so good. A perfect balance of the thick black bean paste and pork. Not too heavy and great flavors. -Steak Fajitas- The meat itself was great, cooked perfectly and flavored nicely. It's basically just steak tips on a bed of peppers and onions with some chicken cracklings in there. I think this dish lacks a bit of innovation compared to the rest of the menu. It was heavy on the vegetables and a starch of some sort would have gone nicely with it. The owner was there and he was extremely friendly! Since no one else was in the restaurant, he brought us some spicy kimchi and fresh short rib to try. The meat was so tender and delicious. Hoping to go back soon!

Service: 3.5/5 Food: 4/5 My girlfriend and I came here for dinner last week after walking the Freedom Trail. As you can imagine we were exhausted and eager to fill are hungry stomachs. We ordered the scallion pancakes ( one of the few vegetarian appetizers that was on the menu) and the vegetarian version of the bibimbap (note, they do not necessarily have a specific vegetarian version but you can ask them to make it vegetarian and put tofu instead). We ordered the size that allowed two people to share the bimbambap, and it was enough to fill both of us. The scallion pancakes were also a very generous size. Unlike the over Friday and brittle scallion pancakes you might see at Chinese restaurants, these pancakes were soft, chewy and my scallion hating friend enjoy them as well. The rice was fine nothing too special, but note that there sauce is rather spicy! The reason why I am docking points for service is because there was only one waitress for the entire restaurant. Although she, a manager, and owner did check in at various points in the dinner, our water cups were often left empty (much to our dismay, having spent 2+ miles walking before dinner) My girlfriend was amused by the decor in the restaurant which reflected a very modern asian fusion restaurant with artwork up as well!

What a fun spot! The staff was all incredibly friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was great - seemed like a great spot to go with friends. We chose to sit a high top table, which was great for two. The food was so yummy and inventive. Our order: carnitas dumplings fried calamari (seems ordinary - totally not!) bibimbop drunken chicken sandwich - least interesting, but still yummy We loved everything.

Food was good, nothing spectacular, but the service was amazing. I split the bibimbap for two and Master Chang Chicken with my best friend who usually hates Asian food. We didn't like the chicken and told the owner, who didn't charge us for the dish. It was perfectly cooked, but the flavor of the sauce had an odd taste to it. The presentation of the food was appealing. Even though we sat outside, our waitress did a great job keeping an eye on us. She was very attentive as was the owner. The prices are up there for Asian food, but I expected that since this is right in the city.

Had the lobster roll, cheese steak dumplings and the grilled octopus. It was wonderful, tasty and well presented. The owner is friendly and polite. Service is great. I would suggest going here for a different twist in a lobster roll.

Great traditional and fusion style Korean food. I would recommend this place. I had the braised octopus leg and it was amazing. I will be back! The owner greeted and talked to us. Great gentleman. Friendly staff. Good prices.

Wow!!! We went there only because the groupon, but now we are in love with that place. First, great service!!! GREAT SERVICE! The menu was explained almost in small details, The son of the owner / manager was so general and meet all of our expectations!and even when we forgot to switch the soup into something we like, they changed it without any hesitations. The beer selection is different from the other places , you"ll be happy with it! Awesome place!!!

I had been wanting to try Koy ever since it opened, and finally was able to get there the other night after work with my husband. I am very glad we did! We were greated by Dan, the manager, who was super friendly and knowledgeable about all aspects of the restaurant. From giving advice on the Korean menu, to drink choice, to even the décor of the restaurant (my husband asked a question about one of the pieces of artwork in the restaurant and Dan was able to tell us about the artist!) he was able to answer all questions we had. Food wise, we ordered the Scallion Pancake and Spicy Wings. The pancake was tasty, but not the crisp pancake I am used to and is advertised on the menu. The wings, however, according to my husband were fantastic. Very tasty and cooked to perfection. For entrees I ordered the Bibimbap with Tofu and my husband ordered the Ahi Tuna Steak. The bibimbap was delicious, served in a stone pot which kept it hot and added a great crunch to the rice. My husband enjoyed the tune, but not the soba noodles on the side. He is not much of a soba fan and upon mentioning this to Dan, Dan offered to bring him a different side. He declined, but we appreciated this attention, as it was my husband's error in neglecting to notice what accompanied the dish. Dan also stated that any item on the menu where the protein is not the main "star" of the dish can be made vegetarian. All in all, a very nice and tasty evening. I am already planning to return and try more items on the menu. And they deliver!!!!

I'm actually really glad I came to Koy tonight with a friend. The menu was a lot limited than I wanted to believe but don't let that fool you. Ordered a bibimbap for 2 (which is much cheaper than buying individual sizes)! This was my second time trying bibimbap but the bulgogi, the rice, the veggies, everything was cooked nicely. Much better than any other bibimbap I've tried. Our waiter was nice enough to give us extra gochujang (red chili sauce). Also had coconut ice cream with caramelized banana! The banana was probably the best part since the little toppings on the ice cream kind of threw me off a bit. Probably wouldn't order it again since it's a bit pricy. The service was amazing though. Our waiter Felipe was very attentive and helpful to our questions. I never had to wait on him to refill our water. It was great. There was also another waiter who would just check on us occasionally out of friendliness. Maybe I came on a lucky day but service was super fast. Definitely looking forward to coming back again!

Came here with my best friend cause we wanted to try something new and saw great reviews about it. It was dead on a Wednesday night, especially since it was raining and freezing out too. We got inside & we were amazed at how beautifully decorated the restaurant is! Definitely a lot of purple and wall art; very appealing to the eye. Everything that we ordered was yummy and we couldn't complain much. We ordered 2 apps & 2 entrees. Only thing I wished for was that the timing of our food was done better. We got our apps & entrees at the same time, rather than trying to enjoy our apps first, then receiving our entrees later. In terms of alcohol, I got the clear sangria w/ aloe pulp & citrus (forgot the name of it). It was good, but surprisingly too sour for my taste. I ordered the bibimbap & it tasted standard to me, but felt like it was a smaller portion than normal for the price it was indicated for. I'd definitely come back again to try their other options!

This place was great! Excellent Asian fusion and Korean food. With the help of Dan, the owner's son, I decided to order the bibimbap and loved it. My dad ordered the tofu seafood stew which he said was also very good. Overall, the staff was very helpful and I would definitely encourage a visit!

Went here on a gilt city coupon and we had an amazon experience. The restaurant just opened up so the management and waitstaff were very friendly and accommodating. The owner would walk around and ask how everything is and even brought me my dish. We ordered the carnitas dumpling, fried fish and BBQ Galbi and all were delicious! For dessert we had their special of the night which was their French toast with additions. It was good by a little too sweet. Will definitely come back next time.

This place is... AMAZING!! Such an awesome and friendly staff. We went there for a date night and had the best time. The atmosphere is gorgeous and the drinks were delicious. But... The dessert.... UNREAL!!!! If you have a sweet tooth you must try out the french toast dessert.. And get ice cream on it. YOU WON'T REGRET IT!! Thank you for such an amazing experience. We will be back very very soon!!

It was some of the best Korean food I have had! Amazing! The portions were very generous for the price. We had Kim chi fried rice, bibimbap, Octopus, seafood soup. Make sure you make room for the coconut ice cream w/ banana. It is a wonderful experience and Gabe was an awesome waiter.

We had a group of 12 here last week for a birthday celebration and the service was excellent. The owner, Danny, personally introduced himself to us and made sure we were having a good time - he even bought us a round of soju shots to celebrate the birthday! We ordered a few apps to share (cheese dumplings were the best) and most of us ordered entrees from the fusion menu. It seemed like a great spot to hang out with a few friends. Attentive service, innovative menu, good drink list and convenient location for bar hopping after dinner.

I've always wanted to try here- my friend worked as a hostess/waitress. When I finally got the opportunity to come with a few friends, I was extremely excited. The staff is very friendly, making conversations. In fact, the owner was there greeting us as well. The food was delicious, but it was just as I expected, nothing to rave about. The portions sufficed (with some to take home for late night cravings). The atmosphere was calming and modern. But the smiles and attitude of the staff was great. Would come back. They have a creative menu!

We wanted to grab dinner after PAX and had initially tried to go to Neptune's Oyster but the wait time was too long. So we wandered a bit and ended up at Koy. The place is nice and the service was amazing. We were seated quickly (I think by the owner). There were six of us so we ordered a few things to split. We tried the scallion pancake, the cheese steak dumplings, the hot stone bibimbap, master chang's chicken, and the pepper octopus leg. The food was plated beautifully and brought out by the owner's son. The cheese steak dumplings were different and I liked it. I'm not big on octopus but it was cooked perfectly. The scallion pancake wasn't anything I haven't had before. Master Chang's Chicken was pretty spicy and also a bit grease heavy. The bibimbap turned out to be the table's favorite. We also got a dessert special. A stuffed French toast with fluff and ice cream. It was pretty messy and very sweet. I wanted to like this place more; but the food was pretty pricey for what we got and my satisfaction level.

What a disappointment! Wanted to try good Korean fusion food but ended up ruining the evening with tasteless food and very loud and noise atmosphere. Galbi was so rough that my jaw is still hurting. Tofu stew was very blend so it tasted like a diluted tofu water. I don't even want to mention about how their homemade kimchi tasted like...

First time to Koy over the weekend. The restaurant was modern and clean, hostess was nice and waiter (Thuan) was wonderful. Fast, knowledgable and funny. I give it a three because the food was mediocre for the price. Appetizers; water chestnuts wrapped in bacon - good but that seems hard to mess up anyway. Cheese steak dumplings - weren't bad. Tasty. When you first bite into them you think it's full of air but I understand when you wrap the dumplings before frying, it is already full with filling. The dough expands. Dinner; Angry Chicken - just think of General Gau's chicken. I can't eat too spicy but this was nothing. Chicken was a little dry and bland. Good portion size. Drunken Chicken Sandwich - extremely tasteless boring. Only ate half and a couple of shoe string fries. Def nothing worth the calories. Pepper Octopus Leg - one very large tentacle. Tender and flavorful. I personally would have enjoyed it with rice but then again, I like everything with rice. Dessert; Shaved ice with coconut, read bean, mochi and pineapples - I don't like coconut and sad this was the only flavor option but I ate it (around it) and thourougly enjoyed it. Drinks; Soju sangria - didn't seem to have any alcohol in it but was refreshing. Rose Water - bitter but I enjoy the taste of rose. El Pazzo - beware, has a kick of spice...a kick big enough to knock your guevos off. The owner was so nice to ask each table about their night. Really friendly and playful guy. I would def go and give it another try if I am ever in the neighborhood, we know parking in and around Faneuil Hall is a pain.

Amazing food recommended by the owner and Chef himself! The meal was delicious. The service is simply outstanding! We were served by Patrick, their star bartender! We absolutely loved our experience me and my fiancé! I recommend to everyone to give it a try, you won't regret it!

I came here with a friend yesterday for dinner. I had been looking forward to trying their menu for weeks!! Since I am familiar with authentic Korean food staples like bibimbap, we ordered the fusion foods for something new. As other Yelpers have mentioned, the Cheesesteak Dumplings were delicious! You can't go wrong with fried food covered in cheese haha. The meat was flavorful, and there was a perfect dough-to-meat ratio. My friend ordered the Drunken Chicken Sandwich, and loved it! She did detect a hint of sweetness, perhaps coming from the caramel used onions, which she was not used to. Nevertheless, she said it was a new twist on the traditional chicken sandwich. I stole some of her fries, and they were yummy. :) They are thinner than ordinary fries, but thicker than traditional steak fries. In true experimental fashion, I ordered the Bulgogi Burger. This name was a little misleading, because I expected a sandwich on a brioche bun or roll. What I got was a mound of toppings, with the bread barely visible at the bottom. I ended up eating the "sandwich" using my knife and fork. The dressing on the vegetables was weirdly sweet, but very tasty once I got used to it. The beef was tender and flavorful, so I did enjoy the dish (even though it was not what I expected). Both the hostess and our server were delightfully friendly, which I really appreciated! The bar was extremely noisy because of St. Patrick's Day, and the sound carried over to the dining area. Not a big deal for my friend and me, but it might not be appropriate if you want a more intimate setting.

Beautiful decor. Unfortunately we were mostly underwhelmed. We started with the scallion pancake, that was really good. For the entree I got an apple Cobb salad and my boyfriend ordered the Bulgogi open-faced sandwich. Both were just meh. (Pictures added onto the yelp photo section). The open-faced sandwich looked more like a steak and cheese when it claims to serve rib eye. The brioche was less than ordinary on the sandwich. We had high expectations from the yelp rating, the service and the decor but for some reason the food didn't deliver. Won't be returning.

The food was intriguing, with a fusion of Korean and western. The service however was horrible. We came for lunch and the restaurant was empty except for another party, yet we spent most of the time waiting for our waiter. Giving you a few minutes to decide is not supposed to be over 10 mins. We're still waiting for our check

Food in general was good. The wings were the perfect blend of American Buffalo wings and Korean style wings. We also had the dumplings which were tasty. The fried rice we had was good as well but could be better if they used a stronger kimchi, understandable they may have to dumb it down for the western taste buds.

Koy is a great spot in an awesome location, enjoying the creative cocktail menu as well s some delicious tweaks on Korean fare. Great Boston food!

We went to Koy for a weekday lunch. I had the pork dumplings with cilantro and queso fresco; they were good but lacked some flavor. My friend had the Bimimbap with the hot sauce on the side. She likes Korean food but not spicy food, so this dish was perfect for her. I think this place is a great does the fusion part well, making it an easy place for a person eating Korean food for the first time. I wouldn't seek this place out again for myself, but I would go again if someone wanted Korean food.

Here's a juicy novel for this snowy day. 3 stars because I know that with time, this place will get better. I'm not sure when they opened, but I'm sure it's within the last few months. Decor and ambiance is great. Open but cozy concept, bar has a great look and feel. As the night went on, we learned that all the art pieces were either painted by a family member or from their families art gallery. I'm usually super picky about service, but service wasn't bad...it was just extremely SLOWWW. But why am I more forgiving this time? The food was great! Worth the wait...if you aren't in a rush. Our cocktails on the other hand took way too long. I wanted to get my drink before we started eating and that didn't happen. Our waitress was semi attentive and while I know we had a big group...not remembering what people ordered is important to me because conversations are interupted when you have to keep asking what each person got. While I'm on this topic...it really kills me when water is refilled with the glass still on the table. The pitcher is in your face and you're hoping water doesn't drip on your food. And if the glass is empty and we are still eating...please just fill the water, don't interupt the conversation to ask if I want more water. I know I'm sounding like a crazy person, but I want and hope that Koy can get past this imperfections and be great because I really like their food. As for the owner, he was attentive and really cared that our food was up to standard and checked many times throughout the meal. He even stopped to chat for a while, gave us some insight on the beginnings of the restaurant, the art, decor and his daughters visions for the restaurant. Here's what we ate: Cheese dumplings, scallion pancake, and carnitas dumplings. All were cooked perfectly, crispy and just delish. A bunch of my friends got the bibimbap. Surprisingly, one of the best ones I've taste in a long time. Short rib looked very lean. It was very tasty, but i prefer a fattier piece where the meat just falls off and no knife is needed. I opted for the amazingly delicious Drunken Chicken Sandwhich, be ware, this is very messy to eat but it is literally amazing. sweet marinade, sauteed peppers and onions, with melted mozzarella cheese on a soft bun. Drooling just thinking about it. Hopefully you've made it down this far, sorry for the long length, but it's #snowpocalypse2015 I've got time. I have high hopes for this place and so far the food is excellent! Defintely give this place a try.

Everything is fantastic. Service is phenomenal and the food and drink is top notch. Dan was a great host and didn't skip a beat. Highly recommend this establishment for small and large groups. Dumplings, japchae and bibimbap are delicious.

To start off let me begin by saying you are missing out if you haven't tried this place yet. It's such a warm and inviting atmosphere decorated with beautiful artwork. The staff will do whatever in their power to ensure your visit is an impeccable one, might I add I have never seen such a group of well groomed host/hostess but that's just my personal opinion. As for food I had the hot stone bibimbap, I loved the mixture of vegetables and meat topped with a fried egg and how can you go wrong with an egg. My favorite part was the crunchy rice at the bottom and the whole time eating you hear the sizzle of the hot stone which was pretty cool Overall I would definitely come back and tell all my friends about it, best thing to happen to fanuiel hall in a while

    I. Love. This. Place. I came here last night with the boyfriend after the Red Sox game. We were tired and starving and after checking yelp for late night food, we stumbled upon Koy. Inside is bright purple which can sound scary but was actually really beautiful. They have great art pieces on the wall that give it a funky modern vibe. We sat down at the bar and ordered the rose water (gin, honey, lychee) and the boy had a beer. He got all excited over their frosted pints (cus he's a guy) and I thought my cocktail was delicious. For food we got the cheese steak dumplings and japchae. Japchae was awesome with lots of veggies and small slivers of shredded beef- perfect to share. What really got me were these dumplings.. They were crunchy on the outside and as soon as you got the nerve to bite in (piping hot!) it was an intense flavor combo with the meat, melted Swiss cheese and a kick from the kimchi. Service was great, the bartender took time to talk to us and ask us how our experience was and what could be done better in the future.. Just shows us that even their staff late night actually care about this place. Highly recommended- my new favorite spot!

At first glance, this restaurant is clean, nicely decorated with their modern decor and just looks like a cool place to hang out. I wouldn't mind coming back if things were just a little bit better for the price. For appetizers had the bacon wrapped water chestnuts. Nothing special about these, just plain bacon wrapped water chestnuts. For entree I had the "hot stone bibimbap". For the price they charge ($16/$25) I expected this to be awesome. When it came to the table, I was really disappointed. It was basically a poor mans version of the bibimbap at Gyu-Kaku...and they didn't even mix it up for me. Where's the service at? It tasted good but charging $16? That's a rip off. You can get better at Gyu Kaku for $9 For dessert, I had the coconut ice cream with the caramelized bananas which was surprisingly good. I'll give Koy props for finishing strong. Service - The staff was really nice! The manager came over to check on us but it did take them a while to bring us our check. Overall, its a good place to try but would not come back again if I didn't have to. Def a tourist trap being so close to Faneuil Hall.

Now, let's be clear -- this isn't like flying to Seoul or even the best Korean in the city, but the carnitas dumplings are really tasty and the bibimbap is good if a tiny bit pricey for what you get.

First time in Boston and on the way here read on the SW airline magazine that featured Koy as a new fusion dumpling place so I decided to give it a try. After getting clam chowder from Ned Devine Irish Pub (highly recommended), I walked over to Koy to catch my 2nd stop of my progressive dinner. Luckily, Yelp offered 1 order of cheese carnitas dumpling ($11) with a check-in and an order of a mixed drink (got El Pazzo ($12): chili-infused tequila, which turned out to be the highlight of the meal). I also ordered fried rice ($12) as well, which was tasty, not over-seasoned. The low-light was the hollowed dumplings; they weren't much stuffing, which was a disappointment for me. I had expected a much fuller filling that satisfied every bite. Instead, I got a lot of air with each bite. Overall, I applaud the innovative mixology but there's some more work to be done with those dumplings.

Koy nailed it... we went on a semi-slow, snowy Monday and sat at the bar - and I'm glad we did, because that's where Dan - an extremely knowledgeable, chipper, caring server/bartender was working. DAN: The dude gave great drink recommendations, and even knew a really interesting back story about how the grape varietal in my girlfriend's wine was almost lost in WWII, and only recently discovered growing wildly in Italy. - He also gave us great insight into what to order, and even whipped us up a couple of custom sauces for us to try with our food. This dude gives a shit, knows his shit, and was very attentive/talkative - without being annoying in the slightest... as a new restaurant, Dan is exactly what the ownership needs front and center to assure this place takes off. THE APPETIZERS: We started with 2 appetizers - the Carnitas dumplings and the wings. - The carnitas dumplings were pure genius, unlike anything I'd ever had before. The fusion of Mexican and Korean flavors totally worked. The wings were the only thing I didn't totally love. The sauce was amazing - but the wings themselves were a tad dry and not super meaty. - The crunch and the sauce totally made up for the non-meaty-ness (is that even a word?) THE ENTREES: I got the bulgogi sandwich at Dan's suggestion - it was juicy, flavorful, served open face with a great flavor balance from the pear sauce, crunchy green onions mixed in.. and a bit of smooth flavor from the torched motz on top. - If you like things a bit spicy, ask for a side of Gochujang sauce to pour over the top. Its served open faced, you eat it with a fork - and its killer. The girlfriend got the bibimbap - she'd never had that before, and hasn't had a lot of Korean food, but she loved it. I think her words when it came were: "oh hell yea, this was exactly what I was after for tonight's dinner" - I had a couple bites, I loved it. OVERALL: Our dinner was just incredible - This place is a really welcome new addition to the neighborhood, where most of the other restaurants are doing very safe things to cater to tourists. As a resident of the hood - its really nice to have a place that is open late, staffed with cool people, that is making delicious, interesting food.

Ate outside and it's in a great location close to Quincy market. As for the food. Some good some just eh. Bibimbap was bland although waiter really talked it up. The koy lobster roll was scrumptious though. A good fusion dish. The chili shrimp appetizers were too expensive for what they were. $22 for five shrimp dipped in chili sauce. Overall it's not bad if you order the right dishes.

Great place. I actually came here when it was snowing. The staff there was great and a pleasure to talk to. The owner Dan was very knowledgeable about his craft. The food there was amazing, I really didn't want to cook that night and came in for some home style cooking with a twist. The Kimchi fried rice was great, the portion was a good amount. I was full when I finished.

Been here twice now and can't wait to go back again! If you went here when they first opened, go again, they have since expanded their menu quite a bit. Starting with the atmosphere: it is quiet, nicely lit, beautiful modern comfortable decor. Nothing like the other restaurants in the area! The food is delicious! We have tried the bibimbap which is perfection! Hot and full of flavor. The meat is perfectly marinated, the veggies super fresh. Don't forget to scrape the crispy rice from the bowl, it is the best part! The shrimp and carnitas dumpling apps are great too. Tasty fusion dishes, very approachable for those not big into traditional Korean food. The KBBQ Galbi was awesome! The sauce is soooo good and the meat comes out on a hot skillet, beautiful presentation and a generous portion. My favorite dish was the Jjajangmyun, the Korean's take on Chinese food. The black bean sauce was the best I have had and the noodles were perfection: thick but airy. I could eat that everyday! On top of the food being amazing, the drinks will definitely keep me coming back. The cocktails are nothing like what you get in other restaurants. I highly recommend the Winter Cup, Blackberry Ginger Smash, Rose Water, St. Elmi's FIre, and the Soju Sangria. I know, that is like half of their cocktail menu, but that is all I have tried so far and they are all INCREDIBLE. Perfectly balanced, I am inclined to think this bartender is a genius. To top off a perfect meal, the owner came by to make sure everything was perfect and even gave us a delicious bulgogi and kimchi maki roll to try. Put it on your menu! It was delicious!!

I walked by the place with two friends, just meaning to check it out before going to an already chosen location, but was drawn in to eating here by the cosy yet modern atmosphere and pleasant hosts. The menu was small, but forgivably so. And every item on it looked appetizing. After long deliberation we went for the braised short rib and cheese steak dumplings. Both of which were exquisite. The dumplings were bar food and I could've eaten them all night but the short rib was what really sold the place for me. It was so tender I could've eaten it with a spoon. It also came with onions carrying a sort of butter sauce that I stirred into my rice bowl and ate with the ribs. The french toast was also a fun dessert and worth the money spent, but was not as memorable as the other things I ate that night. Accompanying the delicious food was an incredibly pleasant serving team, who charmed us with every word and went above and beyond the service expected. I can't stop thinking about that meal and can't wait to be back in Boston to stop by again!

This place is great! I don't write many reviews but I was so impressed with Koy that I had to. I'm so glad we got to check it out during Dine Out Boston. The cheese steak dumplings were to die for, and the drunken chicken sandwich is definitely something unique that everyone will love. There was nothing we tried that wasn't juicy, unique and bursting with flavor. The ambiance and decor fit the place perfectly. Great artwork all around, and as a few yelpers have mentioned, lots of purple. This place will be packed once the warm weather comes around again. Can't wait to come back!

The ambiance, service, and cuisine at Koy is just incredible. We had the tuna tartare appetizer and the octopus entree. Both were modern takes on instant classics. The fat and richness of the avocado under the tuna tartare mixes perfectly with the tuna which is also served with homemade potato chips. The octopus is served with fresh red peppers and a spicy mayo that brings everything together in a perfectly balanced bite. I would recommend Koy to anyone in the Fanueil Hall area. Oh, and don't forget the handcrafted seasonal cocktails! Just great!

One of the best bars I have been to, Employees along with management are great and very welcoming. Pat is one of the best bartenders around and Catarina makes sure to take care of everyone that walks through the door. Be sure to stop in for great food, drinks, and service.

Read a review in the Boston Globe and it mentioned if you're near Quincy Market and want something good you should go across the street. Well one trip through the food court and one $6 slab of some 'all-day-pizza' I was convinced to venture across the street to Koy. Best food based decision in a long while. A beer and a bowl of HOT STONE BIBIMBAP and a side of CHEESE STEAK DUMPLINGS and it was a taste bud altering experience! Staff is great - receptionist yeowza! , bar looked great, food was beyond tasty!!!! Ditch the food court and go to this place across the street.

We went in here for a late lunch in a cold afternoon. The atmosphere is really cozy but also modern, and the staff is delightful. We ordered kimchi fried rice and jajangmyun. The food came out relatively quick (also because it was pretty empty at this hour), with nice displace. It tasted as good as it looked, and the portion was HUGE. We couldnt even finish the jajangmyun, but it was a good feeling. Definitely a must try!

The wings, japchae, and cheese steak dumplings were all delicious. I came here with my friends last weekend and the service was optimal. I also loved the interior design--very elegant. For dessert, try the coconut ice cream with bananas and the patbingsu. I did not expect much because I usually don't like coconut flavored sweets and the patbingsu from around me (I live in NJ) is never anything special.. But the patbingsu and coconut ice cream from Koy were delectable. I definitely want to try this place again, the next time I visit.

Recently I had the pleasure of visiting the wonderful city of Boston. I stayed at the beautiful Millennium Bostonian Hotel. While walking through the lobby I noticed an advertisement for Koy. Luckily it was located in the same building as the hotel. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. Owner came to me and asked how the food was. You could certainly tell it was very important to him I was enjoying my experience. He informed me his very talented son did some of the awesome paintings on the wall. Definitely, the Carnitas Dumpling and KBBQ Galbi was the winner for me, very tender, juicy and a little bit of sweetness was perfect. Because of Koy coming back to the wonderful city of Boston will be even more special.

Came here on what I thought was a date.... Turns out it was some crazy tinder couple doing one of those swing things. Never the less when the bartender Jose, noticed me sweating extremely uncomfortable he came to my rescue flirting with the couple and agreeing to meet them later thus allowing me to act appalled and telling them off. Well then I was left at the bar alone, or so I thought. Jose was so friendly he kept me company and made me feel super welcome. I ended up having Master Changs Chicken which was so good (get it spicy if you can handle it!) and ... Amazing!!! Also they had chop sticks and forks!! Total fusion!! Now I will def be bringing real dates here!

Came here before when they first opened and had a drink at the bar. This time around I decided to order a meal...bibimbap is so delish! Comes with a side of Kim Chee. I'm eating while yelping because it's that good! Also, sipping on the Rose Water cocktail recommended by Patrick the bartender. He hasn't steered me wrong yet with drink choices. I'm normally a martini girl and rarely order off specialty cocktail menus. I will def come back here...I work right around the corner so it's very convenient. Two thumbs up

If I could give this place more stars I definitely would. This was the first time going to Koy and they exceeded my expectations. I went with my friend here last Friday night and the atmosphere is great. I was first greeted by a very nice girl named Anna. She was such a doll and just had a great spirit. We were paired with our server Michael and he did everything to accommodate us. He was very attentive and knew the menu very well. Since this was our first time we asked him for suggestions and he did not disappoint us. We ordered as much as we could between two people and everything was delicious. If you ever stop by here, make sure you request for Michael and tell him Nikki sent you hah. This will be my new regular. After our meal we went to the bar and the bartender was exceptional. Don't remember his name but he's the blondie. I'll update when I go again this week. He made our drinks to perfection and is a pretty kick ass mixologist. Make sure you stop by this place and try the cheese steak dumplings. Cheers and good eating

Can only speak to the bibimbap and beers, but everything was fresh, delicious and hearty. Bartender was knowledgable and friendly. Would certainly go back again to try other dishes! Great spot for quality food in a land of overpriced restaurants near Faneuil Hall. Recommended!

This place has great drinks, and the food and staff to match. We went twice during our trip to Boston. Great food, great ambiance, and great service!! Like other yelp reviewers said, this place is a hidden jewel around the freedom trail. We had KBBQ Galbi which was simply delightful and Korean dumplings which came 8 pieces very generous portion for $11. From the bar, I ordered El Paso...spicy but taste wonderful !!!! Can't wait to go back again!!!

I went there to celebrate my birthday with some friends. Great atmosphere, beautiful design. We sat at the bar and started with some cocktails. The menu has drinks for every taste, all of them delicious. Some of my friends and I are vegan so we ask for vegan options. The manager suggested us few dishes and they also made us a salad that its not on the menu. It was so nice of them. All the food that we order was really good. I have never tried Korean cuisine before but I loved it. Everyone with me liked it. The manager and the owner were so nice to us and made everybody feel special. Definitely made my birthday unforgettable. We will be back again!

Good late night service and a great late night menu. The bartenders took good care of us, and the atmosphere was just the right loudness for the two of us to talk easily. I'll be back when I find myself in the Quincy Market area again and am looking for some food after 10pm!

We went here for lunch, we got here at about 3 o'clock and the restaurant was almost empty. We sat at the bar and we had a fun chat with the waitet. The staff was super friendly and we also met the owner. The owner is really nice guy. He helped us choose desert and gave us some appetizer samples that are not on the menu yet. The restaurant is brand new and everything looks really nice. We ordered Jajangmyun and Kimchi fried rice. The food was DELICIOUS! We didnt have to wait for the food. The music they play is really good too, not too loud but it still makes good atmosphere. I would recomend to anybody and if I ever come to Boston again this is the place I will go to.

For my 28th birthday, I had no clue where to book a last minute reservation for 10+ friends(all of which are rambunctious). The girl Lily on the phone was so kind and understanding. Within 15 minutes, our table was good to go. Talk about a stress reliever! Upon arrival, our waiter and the owner were so accommodating whether it was bringing out cake or taking silly pictures. I love a restaurant who understands a group can get pretty loud on special occasions, assuming your friends aren't completely obnoxious. I took one star off only b/c the food was good, but not the most memorable korean fare. Again, you come here for the ambiance and service for sure. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Koy for the upbeat atmosphere, good vibes and friendly waitstaff!

  • Swetha S.

The food was not great and the service was bad! When we specifically told the waiter that we wanted no meat in the Kimchi Fried Rice, we saw a sausage in the rice. Then, after our meal the waiter comes and tells us that the chef put Chorizo in the fried rice. Never going back to this place again! We are vegetarian for a reason and you were careless enough to not take that into consideration. I can see why this place was so empty on a Friday Night.

Came into Koy for dinner and apps while visiting Boston. The carnitas and beef dumplings were great for 3 to split for an appetizer. For dinner I order the drunken chicken sandwich and it was one of the best chicken sandwiches I have had. Great onions and fried mozzarella with a the sandwich. Will be back thanks to the awesome food and great service.

It was ok.. Glad we tried the octopus but probably wouldn't order it again. The cheesesteak dumpling were good, more fried /breaded then I was expecting though. Bibimbap was ok, I've had better though. Nice location, sat outside, could listen to the street performers was a nice environment!

I'm not sure if this was place was underwhelming, or my expectations were too high because of my experiences at other asian fusion places in Boston like Shojo. My girlfriend and I ordered Cheesesteak Dumplings, Angry Chicken, and the Octopus Leg. The Cheesesteak Dumplings had very thick, sub shop level-quality (bad) pastrami. The fried exterior was quite tasty however. The drunken chicken was good, and the spiciness was appreciated, but I could have had this dish anywhere for cheaper and fairly similar quality. The Octopus Leg was the best part of the dish, and a high recommend. However, the price-quantity ratio on this dish was absurd (classic Faneuil area tourism). Despite my fairly average impression, I'm refraining from giving lower than a 3 star review because I was unable to try the many red meat dishes because of my girlfriend's fatal flaw (an inability to eat red meat because of personal preference!). To reiterate: not bad, but not revolutionary. I would like to try again, but at these tourist prices it's hard to justify a revisit. EDIT: I had the opportunity to try this place again recently, and I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered the fried calamari first. I've said it before and I'll say it again: it is REALLY hard to mess up fried calamari. Still, the kimchi seasoning added a definitive umph to the appetizer and the breading was just right. For main courses, we got the Angry Chicken and the BiBimBap. The Angry Chicken was the same as before; I'm not sure if there is a way to improve such a dish other than a serious overhaul of chicken sourcing. The BiBimBap was quite good. I have never had this dish in a stone bowl before, so the crispy rice was a surprising treat. My favorite part of the meal were actually the cocktails. The Cucumber Cilantro Lemonade was pretty good, but it was the El Pazzo (passionfruit, lime, and a spicy chile tequila) that blew me away. That is a drink I would come back for after a hard day of work.

If you've never had the pleasure of experiencing Korean food- this is the only game in town. A welcome addition to Boston. The food is delightfully light and fresh. Try the Ba Bim Bap for two which arrives at your table in a sizzling stone bowl. You stir it up and gobble it up. Great place for a romantic evening for foodies or groups. Dig in! Meat lover or Veg alike will agree it's simply delicious.

I went here with a group of 5 friends on a Thursday night. Atmosphere is ok, not too loud, not too bright; comfortable. Waitstaff were nice and friendly. We sat at a high top table set to seat 6 people which was a bit crowded. The waitstaff, although nice and friendly, were in no rush... It took forever to get another fork and longer for the check. The food: the carnitas dumplings were on the dry side, wings ok, hot stone bibimbap was great, stew was good although nothing special. I wish I ordered the cheese steak dumplings- they sounded tasty! I probably won't go again. We had a gilt deal $30 for $60... Check for deals before you go, if you decide to go.

Quality of their food does not correlate positively with their price. I was actually dragged here by friends. Honest I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Koy is outstanding! Great food, great atmosphere and great staff! I had the drunken chicken sandwich and the carnitas dumplings both were phenomenal!! I strongly recommend that you try it out!!!

The foods we had were excellent. The waitstaff was polite and knowledgeable. The decor is delightfully eclectic. Truly, the word 'fusion' fits. The group I was with was extremely satisfied in all instances. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone..

This place tastes amazing! The food and service were great. I came with my friends last night and i loved my experience here. Price was affordable too. Loved the bar and drinks. Our server promptly took our order which included Octopus Leg, Carnitas Dumplings with Queso, Braised Shortribs, and the Whole crispy fish My favorite were the dumplings, it was delicate and flavored well. The combination of fusion flavors were absolutely amazing and there were generous portions. Was very impressed with their excellent service. A major winner in my book! The interior décor was very upscale with beautiful modern décor but very comfortable atmosphere. My experience at this restaurant was phenomenal! Koy is definitely worth trying at least once. I for one, will definitely be back.

Ok for relatively uninspired food and overly sweet drinks. A step up from the local chinese place around the corner for atmosphere and presentation but otherwise boring. Unimpressed.

The food is awesome. The owner is a super nice and friendly guy. Highly recommend his latest addition to the menu -- noodles with short rib. The beef broth and mushroom soup was also fantastic. Relaxed atmosphere, elegant decor.

I've been to Koy on several occasions so far, and I have to say that each time this place never disappoints. I love their innovative twists on traditional Korean cuisines. The Bulgoki Sandwhich was absolutely delicious - my mouth is watering just thinking back on it now. I also really enjoyed the Octopus Leg. I've tried octopus before at other locations and I can attest to how hard it is to cook it just right. The octopus here is the best I've ever had! Also, the Cheese Steak Dumplings filled with kimchee were fantastic and packed full of flavor. The service team here are always attentive and on their feet. The owner came by several times to see how we were enjoying our meal. You can tell they genuinely care about their guests here and strive to create the perfect dining experience. Beautiful, modern decor as well. Highly recommended! I will be back for sure.

Went here for lunch. Wasn't too pack which was great. Was able to get a table and order whatever I wanted. Cheese Steak Dumplings was good. Probably the best item we tried. We had to order it. I mean reread that appetizer... Cheese Steak Dumplings. Kimchi Burger was a must. However it was pretty much just a burger with kimchi on top of it. Could have made it at home. Nothing special about it. Bulgogi Burger was a must... until I saw it served it in front of my face. Bulgogi was nice and tasty...flavorful too. The only thing wrong with it was the choice of bread used... which was a Texas size toast. The saucy bulgogi saturated the bread causing it to be soggy. Nothing worst than eating a sandwich than having a soggy bread. The bread wasn't even cut either! The fries with the burgers was needed and helped when snacking. Some nice eye candy around though. Can't complain about that! But really, the service was great. Attentive and friendly.

We came here on the recommendation of our tour guide who was dressed like Ben Franklin. He recommended the kimchee lobster roll, and it did not disappoint. I've had Korean food in the Bay Area, so we wanted to try the different items we couldn't get at home. The grilled octopus leg was tender and the siracha mayo was a good compliment. The kimchee lobster roll was definitely a different twist on the many lobster rolls you can get here in Boston. It was fresh, light, and served with home made potato chips! The owner was super friendly, it was a good experience overall.

Fantastic food, very different than other food in the area (which I feel is overpriced and uninteresting). The service was fantastic, we got a full run down of the menu and a visit from the owner. The fried rice was full of bold flavors you don't usually get out of the typical fried rice dish. We also got the scallion pancake which was huge and so good with the sauce on top. The drinks and beer menu were great. Overall a fantastic experience and we are looking forward to going back.

Came in on x-mas eve because everything around is closed, and we love Korean food. Totally glad we did. The food is more Korean/American fusion but you can taste that the Korean is done right. Drinks were spot on too and the staff is really friendly. It's on the list.

Ate there during "restaurant week" when Boston is giving three-course meal specials, which is what I went with. I ate on a Wednesday, a bit before 7, and the place was fairly quiet but with a nice ambience. The food was quite good. I had an (apparently new) dumpling stew dish as my main which was served boiling hot on a hot plate; it bubbled a good long time and I had to wait a bit for it to be cool enough to eat. But it was really excellent. The appetizer was a calamari which seemed sort of standard (i.e. didn't seem particularly Asian to me) but was good. And for dessert there was a coconut ice cream with a warm banana half prepared somehow glazed (I forget the menu description); it was excellent too. The manager seemed really friendly and liked to circulate making sure everything was OK - he asked my opinion of the food and was genuinely interested, asked if I'd had Korean food before, mentioned he has relatives in OC (where I live), etc. I'd definitely go back.

We first went here for the industry night that they do on Mondays. The restaurant was so cute!! We ordered some of the drinks off the menu, I recommend the St. Elmy's Fire. The owners were also there and so hospitable! It seemed like they knew everyone in the place but they were really just so friendly and making sure everyone was taken care of. I will absolutely be back and make this a regular spot!

My new favorite place ! It's beautiful and cozy restaurant . The food and the drinks are amazing . I had the white lichee sangria which was delicious. From the food we tried the octopus ( best in town ), the dumplings and kimchi rice . Everything was prepared really good , great balance of flavors. The staff it's very friendly and helpful . You can't see that in many restaurants anymore . The host greeted us with a smile and seated us right the way. The bartender Pat was great , he helped us with the menu and suggested drinks . We were greeted by the managers (Leliane Pereira and Catarina Chang) as well , they were very attentive and want it to make sure that everything was good. I love exploring a new restaurants and try different food and our experience there was amazing . I would definitely recommend it to everybody. Check it out for sure , you won't be disappointed !

The reviews were so great for Koy! I had very high expectations that sadly were not met. Pros: drinks were strong, steak and cheese dumplings, they take reservations, great location and cool atmosphere. Cons: drunken chicken sandwich was inedible, small tables on top of each other and service. Our Korean hot pot had NO mushrooms but the table next to my lap had a bunch in theirs. I did not have an great experience and there are way to many places to try to go back to Koy. Wish they would rename the steak and cheese dumplings to Reuben dumplings.

My first time here and I will be returning again and again! The waitstaff was extremely friendly and attentive. My hot tea was constantly refilled with water which was appreciated. And then came the food, owner Danny Chang aka Master Chang recommended his best items so we got crispy braised octopus (best dish of the night) perfectly crunchy yet tender served with red peppers and spicy mayo, spicy wings, whole crispy fish which was drizzled with a sweet and sour (prettiest presentation), and kbbq kalbi which was delicious and the portion was huge! The experience here was made by Master Chang, never have I met such an attentive and personable owner, he constantly checked on our table and was super friendly and made sure we were satisfied with each dish. He also surprised us with an off the menu dessert, the French Fluff, which was the most decadent heavenly thing one eat! If you're in the Faneuil hall area, this place is a must try. :)

Quite surprisingly authentic! Their menu is defined by fusion or authentic and is also short. Not too many options here which makes me feel they specialized in what dishes they make best. I went the authentic route the two times I tried Koy by ordering the bibimbap. I love Korean food and like to think I can spot out the bad from the good and both times I ordered were towards the good. I can't say it is the best. I did get to try the bulgogi sandwich with someone I went with - personally not my taste. For ambiance and overall meal, it was very comfortable and I seem to have visited when it is not busy so service was speedy.

Simply amazing. Great drinks, the sangria was phenomenal. I don't really like octopus, but it was delicious there. Short rib was cooked perfectly. The coconut ice cream was extremely delicious. Also, our server Michael was great ! Highly recommend dining here and I'll definitely be back very soon.

I usually don't get out of work until 9 or 10 at night and Koy is the only place in Boston it seems that serves dinner late night... They get 5 stars just for that! Thanks for feeding me after a hard day's work, guys!

First time here and was here for Dine Out Boston so we ordered the prix fixe $25 lunch. Good food and friendly service. Would love to give it five stars but the waiter got part of the order wrong and the portions are small. Just enough for my friend but I was barely satisfied with all 3 courses. The bacon wrapped water chestnuts are such a savory crunchy starter. The stone pot bibimbap had a great variety of items without too much rice, making it a smaller portion that what I'm used to having at restaurants. Service is good and attentive. Very friendly staff. Parking is tough in the area. There's metered, valet, and garage parking nearby.

Came here with the bro via Gilt coupon. This place has a lot going "for" and "against" it to begin with. 1. It is probably the only Asian restaurant in the Fanueil Hall area amidst the food court, pubs, North End and surrounding restaurants that cater to more "American" tastes. 2. It needs to cater to tourists but also maintain a positive reputation with locals who are out on the town. 3. And lastly, it is a Korean fusion restaurant which means the "traditional dishes" need to be deliciously authentic and the fusion ones appealing enough to both people who aren't used to standards such as kimchi and folks who would usually be eating more authentic cuisine out in Allston but somehow find themselves at this end of town. Ambiance: Casual but nice. Very quiet weekend lunch crowd. (1 other table?) Service: Superb. The owner is obviously very enthusiastic and earnest about his restaurant being a success. He came around several times - and when our feedback about carnitas dumplings was kind of ..."meh"- he came back with a complimentary steak and cheese dumpling for us to try. He was good at reading our nonverbal cues and conversational about his food. The waiter was also attentive (but then again, there were only 2 tables of guests!). Food: 1. Carnitas dumplings: A bit one-note and on the bland side. Like my brother mentioned, dumplings are meant to be a single bite or two of deliciousness with not a lot of frills. We found the sprinkled queso fresco to be unnecessary and would have preferred that to somehow have been encapsulated within the dumpling itself. Black vinegar was drizzed on top but again, the vinegar could have been a bit more flavorful with some sesame oil/garlic/soy sauce on the side to give a stronger contrast to the light flavor of the carnitas filling. 2. Steak and cheese dumpling (complimentary): Definitely tastier with a spicy/cheesy filling and spicy mayo drizzled on top. With fusion dishes, you just can't go wrong with spicy mayo - it makes everything delicious. The skin was crispy and airy. 3. Short rib stew - should take the "stew" out of the title since the liquid was not really drinkable. This was what Chinese would call a "hong sao" where the main ingredients are soysauce, wine and sugar. My brother had this and I also tasted - it was very well prepared with tender, fragrant meat and a lovely presentation with scallion and chestnuts amongst some other randomness. 4. Hotpot - I got this. The contents (mushrooms, bulgogi and carrots) were delicious but the clear soup was too sweet for my taste. I am the first to say I haven't had every Korean soup on the planet so maybe this soup was meant to be very sweet, but when ordering clear soups, I usually expect for a deeper flavor based on some nice simmering over a few hours. This soup didn't have that depth (or else the sweetness covered it) but was still tasty. 5. icecream a la mode: The owner recommended this which combined their 2 dessert offerings of ice cream and french toast. It was definitely a bombshell of a dessert and could have easily fed 3-4 (vs us 2). The coconut ice cream was refreshing and I always love the contrast of cold with warm (in this case, toast). My only feedback on this dessert would have been that a waffle (vs. toast) base might hold up better under the layers of chocolate syrup, banana, ice cream once the dessert sits for more than a few minutes. But hey, if you have 3-4 people to devour it right away - go for it! Overall, if the owner and other folks can keep up the excellent attentiveness - this would definitely be a decent Asian restaurant to go to if you're in the area and don't feel like chowder, pub food, or lobster rolls. My brother says he'll return to check out the authenticity of the sundubu! (Allston is a long way from his neck of town)

Re-posting my original review (below), which was removed. Yelp needs to get it's act together and allow customers, who legitimately enjoyed their experience, to discuss... A general rule of thumb for me is that a restaurant is worthy of a visit after it's received 50 reviews and maintained at least 4 stars. For some reason, after 20 reviews and maintaining close to 5 stars, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try Koy. That was one of the better dining decisions I've made in some time. I sat at the bar and was greeted by a friendly and very knowlegeable (drinks and dishes) bartender named Patrick. His recommendations (Carnitas Dumplings followed by the BBQ Short Rib) were spot on. These dishes were delicious and cooked to perfection. The braised pork shoulder was the star of the dumpling - with the torn cilantro, lightly dressed black vinegar, and queso fresco serving as a pretty nice complement. As for the BBQ Short Rib, I'm not sure if there is enough space here to walk you through this dish. It's top notch - just go and try it. Just after I paid my bill, the owner (who is very friendly) swung by and asked if I had room for dessert. I rarely eat dessert, but he explained how the evening before they came up with a buttermilk battered french toast smothered in a dark chocolate ganache - with coffee-boiled peanuts, crisped rice, strawberries, and sesame seed toppings. I clearly agreed to try it. This was another smart decision and may get me to start eating dessert again... My next decision: Trying to get back there as soon as possible to enjoy another culinary experience. Bravo, Koy!

Warm, cozy and elegant just across the street from Faneuil Hall. Fresh creative food. I especially liked the water chestnuts wrapped in bacon - delicious. The specialty burger rates as one of the best. I will return for the Soju Sangria - lemons and aloe what a combination!

I was looking for dinner near Faneuil Hall and stopped by to check this restaurant out. Usually I'm not one to try out new restaurants, much less fusion style (I often feel like they don't quite work), but I was totally pleasantly surprised by the food at Koy! I ordered a few dishes, including the Galbijjim and the Carnitas Dumplings. Galbijjim was delicious; the meat was tender and I loved the overall flavor, especially with the addition of dates to the stew. The dumplings had a great vinegar dressing and were served with a cheese and parsley salad (sounds weird but was REALLY good). I also tried the Winter Cup cocktail, which had a lychee flavoring that nicely went with the fusion theme. Would definitely come back! Was very pleased with it and overall this restaurant raised my standards for asian fusion restaurants!

Wow, what a pleasant surprise! Visiting Boston, I was looking for good Korean eats and discovered Koy. I was skeptical at first (being Korean w/ high standard for Korean food) and was impressed w/creative,unique and ingenious twists to Korean food while retaining its rich and authentic taste. Highly recommend this place to friends out there who appreciate fine Korean food and drinks!

So happy to find great Korean food while in Boston on business. The owner visited at my table to make sure everything was excellent. He told me they signed a 20-year lease so I'll definitely be back!! The dumplings and Galbi were phenomenal!!

Very good! It looks like this place is still in the opening phases since it only opened three weeks ago, but all the food we had was very enjoyable. We went on a Friday, and sadly the place was mostly empty. We had the following: Bacon-wrapped water chestnuts - Excellent! Will definitely be stealing this idea for ourselves as a party appetizer. Carnitas dumplings - Very good, although could have used a little more sauce, and the cheese sort of over-powered the dumpling flavors. But still tasty. Bulgogi "sandwich" - This was served open-face, but with great savory flavors. I really enjoyed this. Fried chicken wings - Sweet and spicy with a good crunch. Not quite as amazing as Bon Chon, but very good. "Steak and cheese" dumplings - I really liked these. They contained pastrami and cheese, fried, with what tasted like spicy volcano sauce that you might get with sushi. Definitely recommended. French toast dessert - Rich and chocolatey with little bits of crunchy coconut and coffee beans. Didn't blow my mind, but certainly tasted good. The owner was very pleasant and gave us the steak and cheese dumplings free of charge just to try. Overall we had a great meal.

We wanted to check out Koy after it opened so we finally got a chance! it was pretty empty inside, but the service was very good and our waiter was helpful and friendly! The biggest con is that they have absolutely nothing vegetarian/poultry (except for a chicken wing appetizer) on the menu. The server did mention that they were still trying to expand the menu, so hopefully they will add some veggie friendly options. We tried the carnitas and the cheesesteak dumplings - they were good but the texture and taste was definitely more like empanadas than dumplings. The kimchi fried rice was good. The drinks were also very good.

Just had lunch here and the food was good but not as amazing as expected. We sat at the bar and the food took a little while to come out, idk why because it was super slow for lunch. The steak dumpings was good but it was more air then steak and cheese for 11$ appetizer you would expect it to be over filled with meat. I got the angry bird and was kinda disappointed because it was literally a bowl of spicy chicken and a little bowl of white rice. And the food was not as hot came out warm. My friend got the steak tip sub and it was also a basic dish. It wasnt steak tips it was shredded steak like the ones you get from a regular steak sub. On a piece of bread an egg on top with shredded carrots. For 16$ not that reasonable. Overall the food was not that great but the environment was nice.

I'm not sure if maybe it was an off night, but the food really wasn't good. I ordered the carnitas dumplings and they were tasteless. We didn't get a dipping sauce and the meat inside the dumpling was extremely dry. The wings had barely any meat and they were over cooked. The chicken sandwich and the fried rice were good, but nothing to make me come back. The two parties next to me on both sides sent one of their dishes back... I will say though that the service was some of the best I've ever seen. Our server was very attentive and we were checked on quite a bit. Plates were cleared moments after we were done and water was refilled the same.

The service here is somewhat lacking and the noise (music) is loud. The food is reasonably good and inventive. I had carnitas dumplings and chili shrimp. Both were good. Healthy portions.

  • Cynthia H.

The service was subpar. Took forever when we asked to get two pairs of chopsticks. The udon dish was over cooked and the bimbimbap was lukewarm. Our water glasses were often empty. They charged my friend for two sodas even though the menu didn't specify no refills.

I visited this place once and would love to go again. The food was no doubt amazing and even the staff was great. We tried the bibimbap, carnitas dumplings and both were cooked to perfection. The desert was a delight too. I really liked the, food, ambience and the staff

My husband and I dined at Koy with 3 other couples and the service and food was spectacular. All the servers had a smile and explained the dishes to us. The short ribes melt in your mouth. We tried octopus for the first time and will have it again. If you want a cool vibe with delicious food or you just want to try Korean food for the first time.. Don't miss it!!

Carnitas dumplings and jyunjiang(?) were my favorite, but the other food we tried was also spectacular. Casual enough for eating lunch while touring around, but could also be good for a classier night out, too. The service was attentive and friendly. The owner was charming and very interested in picking out brains for feedback. As a bonus, the owner's son created most of the art on the walls. Just an overall great dining experience.

Koy was my first experience with Korean cuisine and I could not be more impressed! I went in the other night for a girls night out. We started at the bar with some cocktails. Our bartender, Ashley, was friendly and knowledgable. She recommended we try the Winter's cup and the Soju White Sangria. I had the Winter's cup. It was absolutely delicious and refreshing! The drink consisted of freshly muddled fruit, a spiced rum, and St. Germaine. My friend had the Soju Sangria. The sangria was sweet, crisp, and refreshing. It was a nice blend of Soju, Aloe water, lychee and prosecco! Once we finished our cocktails, we were seated at our table. We were taken back by all the beautiful art work that the restaurant had on display. Our server explained that the family that owns this restaurant has a passion for art and wanted to share their passion with their guest. I loved this about the place. The art and color scheme really made for a great ambiance. Now for our favorite part of our dining experience. The food! We tried several dishes. We started with the water chestnuts. They were unreal! A crisp water chestnut wrapped in delicious bacon. The combination was awesome. Then we tried the octopus legs. At first, we were a little weary of eating octopus legs but our server was emphatic about us trying them. He was right! They were perfectly cooked, tender with a slight crisp, topped with a spicy mayo and marinated peppers. We decided to split two entrées. We choose the Hot Stone Bipbimbap and the Bulgogi Sandwich. The bibimbap was so tasty! It was a bed of rice topped with fresh seasonal veggies, bulgogi meat, and a fried egg. Our server recommend we mix all the ingredients together adding this delicious spicy sauce over top. The hot stone bowl kept our food hot the entire time. The bulgogi sandwich was one of my favorites! It was an open face sandwich on a buttery brioche bread. The sandwich was topped with bulgogi beef, fresh mozzarella cheese, and a Korean pear salad. All of the ingredient mixed amazingly with each other. The butteriness of the brioche bread added a richness to the sandwich while the marinaded bulgogi beef added amazing flavor. Both dishes were perfectly balanced. The portion sizes were perfect! We were both definitely full and satisfied by the end of our meal. Service was on point. Everyone we came in contact with was friendly and welcoming. The owner, Daniel Chang even stopped by our table!! He was kind and funny. You can really tell that this family cares about their restaurant and their guests. We can't wait to come back and try some other dishes. Our server told us a new menu was coming out April 1st. We can't wait to try it! I highly recommend trying this place.

From the moment our party of eight arrived at Koy, we felt like family. The owner, Danny Chang, and the entire staff went out of their way to help us select the menu items that we'd enjoy and created a fun and hip atmosphere. We will certainly return and recommend everyone of our Yelp friends try this trendy new spot. The delicious food and amazing service made it a Magical Experience!

I live in New York City. Visited Boston for the weekend and went there for our friend's birthday and last night here. This place is amazing. Food and ambiance is wonderful. I came to this place cause a co worker recommended it so I stopped by after work. I was there at the bar by myself and the owners came up to chat it up with me which I thought was really nice. Great Ambience, the setup with the fresh fruit lined up at the bar looked really nice, the Bulgogi Sandwich is a must try, and the bartenders were really nice and made some good drinks. I'll definitely be back here!!

Keep walking. Decor was boring. Fake modernist. Waitress didn't take notes for our party of 3 and then forgot one entre! And made a mistake with another. Not authentic. Did not give any banchan and when the table next to us asked, the manager said that in Korea, you don't get kimchee with meals. They did bring us a little, like 2 cabbage pieces, and that was it, told us that any more would be an extra $2. And for a restaurant to be in a tourist neighborhood, there is no kids menu. I hear the bar is good...but this is Boston. All the bars are good. Don't bother with this spot.

I've been waiting for Koy to open for several weeks, and was so excited to visit last night. The cocktails are great (sangria with soju, for instance) and the food delicious - we tried the crisp, tender spicy octopus, fried red snapper, carnitas dumplings and kimchi rice. Decor is beautiful, and the waitstaff attentive. Go. Just go.

wow, what a great place. Korean fusion place right across the street from Faneuil Hall. We got the carnitas dumplings, the octopus and the bibimbap. As other reviewers have said the octopus is great, even if you don't like octopus. It had a dense texture, almost like swordfish. Great drinks too. DW has dietary issues and mixed drinks can get complicated but they made her something that worked for her and was delicious. Not authentic Korean food, but, great flavors, really great space and super clean. Great service too. So much of Faneuil Hall is a wasteland of mediocre tourist trap restaurants. Please, walk past them all, and get a great meal at Koy instead. We'll be back soon.

Fantastic amosphere, so welcoming friendly! Food is amazing! I highly recommend the cheesesteak dumplings (shaved salami, swill cheese, kimichi and a little spice deepfried deliciously in a dumpling) . An awesome meal, excellent service and a warm atmosphere in the heart of Boston. We know Korean cuisine well and Koy doesn't disappoint. While their menu is limited (they are newly opened) the traditional Bibambap is there as well as Korean fusion. We sampled from both and found everything to be fresh and delicious. The owner even stopped by our table to ask about our experience. If you are looking to break away from the typical boston tourist fare, check this place out!

This review is for the "Traditional" Korean menu. The bulgogi is RIDICULOUSLY over-priced, not at all authentic and comes with only a tiny serving of kimchi, no other banchan, nor accompanying little soup. There's nothing traditional about this dish either -- super bland. I might stop by to try their fusion fare but never again for their so-called "traditional" stuff.

what a great service! staff at koy was extremely attentive, friendly, and fast. they made sure that we had everything we need throughout the whole time we were there. the owner even brought us complimentary dumplings just because. generally, the food was tasty; we had the pear salad and korean hot pot (bulgogi in soup). pear salad was a little bit bland but tasted fresh, and korean hot pot tasted authentic, but the portions was a bit small. too bad they don't offer many banchans like other korean restaurants. OVERALL though, i highly recommend koy. :)

A great find! The kimchi fried rice with egg on top was probably the best fried rice I've ever had. My friend and I literally ordered for four people, which was a mistake, but at least we had leftovers for the next day. I thought the "tastes" part of the menu meant appetizer size! But the tofu salad was one of the biggest salads I've ever ordered and the scallion pancakes were literally an entire circle o' pancakes. They were both tasty and fresh, though, and our waiter was so very nice and unbelievably attentive. The manager even came by twice! It was so nice to see how much they care!

I came back here for dinner a couple nights ago and I did not like it anymore. The octopus tasted different and the staff barely attended me. My server never came to check up on me at all

Very excited that there's another Korean restaurant opened up in the downtown area outside of Allston. However, what a disappointment. It's overrated and overpriced Korean food. Don't expect any side dishes. One green tea bag will cost you $4 lol. Food is nothing spectacular. Unfortunately, not planning to go back anytime soon.

This innovative new spot near Fanueil Hall has a bright future. The soft opening was just a few weeks ago, but you would never know it -- service was professional yet friendly, the food was delicious, and the wine list is terrific, with interesting options at each price point. We sampled several dishes to get a real sense of the place. Do not miss the octopus -- it was tender inside, with perfect browned bits on the outside, crunchy veggies and a yummy sauce. The chicken wings had loads of flavor, a bit spicy/sweet/savory and delightfully sticky. The carnitas dumplings defined the concept of fusion, with tender meat inside and a creamy/spicy sauce to dip. Our final dish was the Bibimbap, which we shared then almost ordered a second bowl -- the chef attained perfection with the bits of crunchy rice mixing perfectly with the gooey fried egg. Highly recommended, we will be back very soon!
