Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

High Cholesterol at Pizza Hut

Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. If you're concerned with your high cholesterol, then it is wise to take your friends to Pizza Hut and share pizza among them slice by slice. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

I've driven by this place a million times, but only went in for the first time last week. My daughter was getting a little sick of canned food (post-Isaac, waiting for the power to be restored) and said she wanted pizza. We went to Clearview Mall first, just to wander around in the A/C. Then, I saw a Yelp friend of mine check in at Pizza Florence, right across the street. They were only serving takeout, and the only item on the menu was a large pepperoni pizza, but I was happy they were open. We ordered a few drinks, and they were nice enough to let us get a free refill on our way out. The pizza itself was good. Not great, but good. It was reasonably priced, too. I suspect from reading the other reviews that their less "traditional" pizzas might be better. Eventually, I'll have to come by and try something else, under normal operating conditions, and update my review.

My first time here was pretty good. However the second time was not so great. There was a very bad smell, like mildew and you could see there was water damage to the walls a ceiling. The smell was pretty strong and made me loose my appetite. Salad was watery and not too fresh. Pizza was good but could have been cooked a little longer. Great service, but that smell was just appalling!

Portions huge! Great taste! Had meatball calzone big enough for 2. Could be better atmosphere better maintained . Crying infant being walked around tables in stroller was a real nuisance! Day care or restaurant?

Pizza is not bad, but the non pizza items are awesome.

The food here is decent, but they don't serve any alcohol!! NONE! What kind of restaurant in NEW ORLEANS of all cities doesn't serve alcohol?

I have never dined in so I can't tell you much about the service but the food is pretty good. I live less than 5 minutes away so I'd say this is the best pizza near me so I am biased a little bit because of location. For pizza I would recommend the Chicken Pesto pizza. It's pretty good and the crust is great too. Their salads are also pretty good too. I had the shrimp Mediterranean salad which was great and huge. I have also eaten a calzone from there though and I didn't think it was that great. Stick to the pizza and salads.

This was my first impression of this restaurant and I was not too pleased. Right off the bat I was taken back by the smell of the place. Can't put my finger on the odor but it was very distracting from the meal. However, I will say the pizza was pretty good and the crust amazing! Had a party of two and we were the only customers in the joint and didn't get great service. The waitress didn't check on us once except to bring out the food. I guess the conversation in the BOH was way more interesting than providing service. All in all, good pizza but I would say you're better off just getting your food delivered or carry out.

Two words...feta sticks!!!!! So good you'll want an order to go!!! This quiet little nook is an family friendly affordable delicious meal!!!! We Aldo had the chicken pesto pizza. It was to die for... Fresh veggies, awesome prices and great service makes this little eatery a place to make a habit to return too. A must see in Metairie.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. It is not impressive from the outside, and in the inside trys a little to hard to be like Italy to me. However, the food was good. I had the Turkey Pita. It was very good if a little heavy on the ranch. The pasta salad was also very good. My husband ordered the Philly Steak Pizza, and he very much enjoyed it. He can be rather picky about pizza. The server seemed a little standoffish at first, but she warmed up throughout the meal. I only ate about half of my pita because it was very large. She was very concerned that I didn't like it and seemed to want to make sure that I enjoyed my meal. I assured her that I did. We will definitely be back.

I think they are great. I had the meatball wrap. It was not like a regular wrap, rather it had a thin crispy crust, the meatball was tasty, it was wonderful. Very large portions, some to take home and enjoy another day.

The service is horrible. The employee assumed I was a possible prankster because I was a first time guest with the business. The employee was hesitant to take my order. This is not ok. I ordered a pizza with Xtra cheese, add onion and shrimp. This order was placed the day after labor day. On Labor Day the business was closed so I don't fully understand why my pizza dough was sour. I called and spoke with with the manager about the taste of my pie and she told me the shrimp and tomato sauce combination was a flop. Now what this manager don't know about me is the fact that I'm a chef at the Ritz Carlton. She did offer me another pie but she should have offered me a full refund and fix the issue. I declined her offer because of the initial service I received and I will never eat from this place again.

We just pulled in for a quick cheese pizza. It was really good but unfortunately we had some loud kids running amok near us so maybe that's skewing my opinion of the place. Maybe our waitress was distracted by the hellions but the service was pretty awful. I'm willing to try it again though. For the price and proximity to the mall it's really hard to beat.

Pizza was below average. They do have a varied menu so maybe other items are tasty. We ordered a shrimp pizza, beef pizza and cheese bread. Will not be headed back. Marinara sauce they serve you on the side is cold and cheese bread was a little two toasted. Not very good flavor. Highlight was the game that they had on the tv. Disappointed.

Worst service!!!!! As my daughter and I sit at a table for four the waitress proceeds to tell me to sit at a smaller table because it is Friday, now if the place had a line going out the door I would understand, but with only four customers in, myself being the fifth, I'm am immediately frustrated. Then she ask, "you know what you want?" No hello, my name is....... After our meal is brought to the table, her and husband/boyfriend (I assume) sit down at the exact table she has us move from and proceed to eat take-out from another restaurant. (While she is working) now, I work in a customer driven environment, this is just unacceptable and we will NOT be dining in this establishment again!!!!

Food is good. Service sucks. It makes your experience less enjoyable when you feel like your not wanted in the establishment or you're being rushed.

Had an amazing greek salad!!! Very Fresh and it filled me up! I will recommend this place to anyone!

We had a Clipper magazine deal for $10 for $20 and decided to give them a try for lunch. Our server was really friendly and attentive. We ordered mozzarella sticks and a three topping xl pizza. We're used to fried cheese sticks, and these are baked. It wasn't our personal preference, but some people like them that way. Just a heads up. The pizza was really good. We had thin crust with beef, bacon and black olives. Wouldn't have changed a thing and we had no leftovers. We will be back, especially during lunch so we get the same server. I don't remember her name, but she was a young blond girl and our ticket says server #21.

We've been to Pizza Florence many times and we've tried just about everything they make at least once. We very much enjoy the food. While we tend to get our food to go that doesn't diminish the staff's friendliness and they're always helpful. It's location is very easy to get to. while the parking lot is a little small and they do share the lot with other businesses we've never had trouble with parking.

The only thing I ever go out to Metairie for is to shop. I can shop til I drop, but still somewhere in there I need to get some food. Making my way out of Target and wanting more than a fast food fix, I decided Pizza Florence would do the job. First going to this place by chance, I've been back multiple times. Their pizza is actually really good. Especially after a long day of shopping! Their prices are also reasonable, another great quality I'm looking for after a day of spending money on things I probably could live without. The atmosphere is pretty dull, but then again it's Metairie so my expectations aren't too high (no offense). They do dine-in, carry-out, and delivery and have coupons on their website (but not for dine-in).

Friendly service on the phone. Nice delivery driver that did not take forever. Will order again. Feta sticks were a welcome change from the usual mozzarella sticks but don't travel well. I'm sure they are awesome fresh out of the oven, but were just okay delivered.

  • Stephen R.

Not much to say, just very average. Maybe even slightly below average strictly judging by the pizza. The place is nice and clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful, but the pie just didn't impress. It wasn't terrible, just unimpressive for a restaurant that has the word "Pizza" in their name. Seems like a safe bet in that particular neighborhood, but you wouldn't miss anything if you skipped it.

Good pizza - nothing exotic or unusual, just good-tasting pizza. Service was good, too. For me, the pièce de résistance (or the piece which I had NO resistance) was the chocolate cake. Pizza & chocolate cake? Many might find that combination revolting. I would agree. But!! You can get the cake to go and have it later or maybe the next day (which I did)!

  • Michael S.

I agree with Micaela Pizza Florence is pretty solid. It's right across Vets from Target too so the location is pretty good. I usually get the spinach or spinach & artichoke pizza and have never been disappointed. The Cesar is also pretty good. I did get the feta rolls (I think that is what it's called) and hated them, before that I never met anything feta I didn't like! They have a couple flat screens but the atmosphere isn't really anything special but it's comfortable. The service is usually pretty good. One bad think is they have no liquor (not even beer & wine).

This quaint little dive serves up pretty damned good pizza and wraps. great stop for lunch.

I order pizza Florence every now and then and I'm never disappointed! The service there is always fantastic, delivery usually pretty quick. The pizza is good, but the most unique thing on the menu is their Mediterranean lavash wraps!!! I'm a huge fan of the chicken Caesar wrap! It's a must try.
