I love the current three course steak special! Always ready for me when I come to pick up food to go! The steak is yummy, asparagus is delicious, and the honey mustard dressing is perfect for the salad!

Been here quiet a few times over the past few months. Very hit or miss. Service is always a complete joke. Not once have I been and the service been good. The food is very inconsistent. I usually get the same thing every time I go and the cuts of meat are very inconsistent as well as the cooking temp. However I have been and the food be flawless.

This was absolutely an awful experience. We ordered cheese fries for an appetizer to share between 7 people and the portion size was pathetic. I ordered a glass of wine and it came with a bug floating in it. We sat for an hour waiting for our food to come before we finally gave up and my husband had to talk to the manager and settle the bill for what we did eat. The manager was great and didn't want us to pay anything at all which was the only good experience about the whole night.

Not your high end steakhouse, but definitely one of my favorite places to eat. The waitstaff has always been upbeat and friendly. I'm a little disappointed they got rid of the Spinach dip, but I guess I'll just settle for the absolutely delicious Aussie Cheese fries to start :) I've never found anything on the menu that I haven't enjoyed, but I do always find myself going towards the chicken dishes. Nice convenience to have call ahead seating and curbside to-go for those not wanting to potentially wait. More bread please!!

Spent $80 on a meal I have already forgotten about in less than 24hrs. I knew I shouldn't have gone here. If I want steak, I'll go to a real steakhouse, but it was a friend's birthday and he loves the place so I went. Waited over an hour on a Thursday night. I really don't understand why this place is always packed. The food is average at best...very sub par. I sometimes wonder if they make you wait just so you are starving by the time you seat; forcing you to order against better judgments. $25 Steak came out very undercooked (raw), cold and no flavor. All it needed was another 45 seconds on the grill but it was like 10 minutes before it returned. Salad was deprived of dressing. Best thing were the drinks but they take forever. I barely ate my meal. The worst taste is the regret I have this morning :(

Went here last Friday night at 6pm. No wait for a table for 5. We did call ahead so that helped, I'm sure. Our waiter, Luis was friendly and knowledgeable. Answered all our questions and had good suggestions. Bartender did a great job on the drinks. Extra dirty martini with extra olive juice on the side... it was ordered by my friend and may be my new choice of cocktail. So good. Another asked if they had Blue Moon on tap and Luis said they just got it back on tap. Everyone enjoyed their food. Steak, loaded baked potato, seared tuna, grilled shrimp and chicken. All good. It had been years since I've eaten at any Outback and when the group wanted to go here I was not excited. But was pleasantly surprised at the whole experience.

Came here for lunch one day with my wife and the hostess asked if we wanted a table for two then sat us in the bar area. We would have preferred otherwise but opted not to say anything to see how our experience would be. Of course we got the bloomin' onion appetizer (who doesn't? It's amazing)! I enjoyed it so much that I decided to get the bloomin' burger (bad choice it wasn't that great and was cooked well done when I asked for medium rare). My wife had the wood-grilled California chicken sandwich which was pretty decent but nothing extraordinary. The service in the bar area was pretty bad, I think our server checked on us once and it took forever just to get her attention to ask for the bill. Overall we didn't leave the restaurant extremely disappointed in our experience but there was nothing that really stood out to us besides the bloomin' onion!! I have had fantastic experiences at this chain restaurant in other states so for that reason we will be back!

This was very bad. Had the double outback burger. Its not even worth getting into. The short of it is a very overcooked burger. It was very tough. Also tried the Portobello Victoria filet, it was absolutely doused in butter. I've never given a bad review. Food just wasn't good.

Bad. Just BAD. Ordered prime rib medium rare. I got the "last piece " according to the waiter. It was almost cold and just about well done. The top had a few pink spots but the meat was dry and over cooked. They gave me a side of au jus as if I was eating a French Dip. This place is terrible. Go somewhere else.

Out for a night of dining and pleasant conversation, we settled on this restaurant. Been here before and so I was aware of what to expect; sooooo Outback Down Under was it for the night. Not a long wait, which was great as this place is normally packed to capacity. Maybe because it was the middle of the week, Yes HUMP DAY. Glad we came on this day, as there was a Wednesday special that gave options for different entrees, sides and dessert for a nominal fee; a glorified combo, less the drink, but definitely way better than McDonalds or BK. So, once we were seated, Joe was our server and try as he may, the food was just off on this particular night. He confessed to us that he was a former kitchen employee and was compassionate about our complaints and satisfaction, or lack thereof. Here were our issues: My sirloin was sent back because it was too tough and over cooked... Mahi Mahi was sent back because of a rancid odor... Chicken tortilla soup was returned because it was cold... Sheesh, idk what the heck was going on in the kitchen on this night, but we weren't happy campers. And as I was ear hustling, apparently it just wasn't my table, as the gentleman behind us had a similar compliant. We were told the manager would come by, buuuuuuuuttt he didn't. No matter because, having been here before, as I stated, we opted to leave and come back on another day... I'm told Saturday is a good day #Joereturnstokitchenduty

Worst service ever! My steak look like it had been sitting under a light or it had been microwaved. The waiter was non attentive, never asked if we needed anything. The manager ended up bringing me a new plate of food and said he would comp our meal which he did.Won't be going back there no time soon.I'll stick to Texas Roadhouse

I normally don't dine here but my company and I were having a fierce rib craving and figured why not give it a go. We had a full rack of ribs, the French opinion soup, and the pecan and blue cheese salad. I remembered their wheat bread and sweet butter that they provide you while waiting on your meal from earlier days and was eager to have some again. Unfortunately, our bread did not come out very hot.....it was warm-ish.....but not hot. However, our server brought us out a second loaf that definitely WAS hot. So if you have that problem don't feel bad asking for another one because they definitely do have fresher ones back there (not that I'm assuming they are baking all their bread fresh....they could very well be simply putting pre-made bread loaves into a microwave for all I know). Granted, I'm a bit picky when it comes to salad freshness, but the lettuce seemed old and wilted to me. The french onion soup had very thick bread and cheese on top, but a little watery otherwise so it was good but nothing great. However, I have to say the RIBS were very good. Flavorful and falling off at the bone just like I wanted! The service was a bit slow but she was very friendly. I would definitely come back for a rib fix and some cold beer in the future but maybe avoid other mediocre side items that could potentially disappoint.

We called ahead for call-ahead seating and they "lost"our reservation in their iPad system. We did not want to opt for a 40-minute wait so we walked. We know the hostesses never care about their shortcomings and do not want to make things right so a bad review is appropriate to tell the management how we feel.

The crawfish and shrimp were amazing. Even though the appetizers are good they overcooked our steaks ,and it took a long time

Had lunch here today. We were sat by the hostess right away. She was friendly and professional. The waitress seemed very nice and the service started off very good. We waited over an hour for our food!! There was No manager in sight. This isn't the 1st visit that we had waited long for our food. The kitchen can never get it together at lunch. The restaurant was not packed, and there was no wait. Don't go there for lunch if you are in a hurry.

So sad that this place has gone down so much. Service was awful, We waited an hour and a half for our food and it was incorrect. The owner waited on us to start because we waited for 25 minutes for someone to speak. We waited 25 minutes more for a half order of cheese fries. An older couple came in, ordered, got their food in a VERY timely fashion and left while we waited another several minutes for the food.

I've been coming to this Outback for as long as I can remember. It was always our family's go to place for a nice dinner. However, the past few times we've visited, it leaves much to be desired. First, you wait for a minimum of 30 minutes for a table. I understand a wait at a popular, higher end restaurant. But hear me out. Once seated, you usually wait a good 5-10 minutes for someone to come and take your drink order. The last time we went, I ordered a dirty martini, and they were out of olive juice. The time before that we just asked for water. The bread and salads came out before we even got a glass of water. The person who brought out the salad ended up bringing us our drinks because we couldn't even find our server. The food is inconsistent. I love the prime rib, but almost every time we go they are out of anything below medium well. Even at 7:00. My husband and I both like our steaks mid rare. I usually order the 9oz and he gets the 12oz. On multiple occasions mine was over cooked. I'm assuming they throw them both on the grill and take them off when his is done. It's hard to tell if this is a server, kitchen, or management problem. I'm giving them 2 stars because of 2 reasons: 1. The wait staff is pretty friendly. Even if they are slacking in skill, they've never been rude. 2. When the food is done correctly, it is really good. However for the price (usually a total of $75+ including drinks and tip), the inconsistency, the crazy wait time...it's really not worth it anymore. I'm afraid we will be retiring from Outback for a while.

I haven't been here in a long time. I was pleasantly surprised by the décor and small renovations. The menu is very large. They offer a ton of different entrees. We went for lunch and I enjoyed my steak salad, but the steak was kind of tough. The fish tacos were actually really good. I went for lunch and I believe the whole area only had one server. She was over loaded and the other tables were particularly needy. I'll try to make an effort to go back sooner than I have.

The Cheese fries are a monthly craving.. Curb side takeaway is so much better than waiting to be seated & having mediocre service. (Also cheaper, obviously). I love salads, their salads are always great. (Especially steak salad). I would give 5 stars if the service was just a notch better. ***also want to add that I called for curbside take-away & have been waiting for almost 45 minutes. With only my coke in hand- while they came & took my cash. No food yet...

We were very disappointed in both the food and service. The Caesar salads used to be cold and crisp. They came out on warm plates and were over dressed and soggy. The Alice Springs chicken was dry and over cooked. It came out on a plate by itself and is much smaller than it used to be. The waiter seemed over whelmed and the restaurant wasn't even on a wait. You would think Outback would want to grab some of Houston's Metairie customers? Doubtful with such mediocre food and poor service.

Worst service ever!!! Took 40 minutes to get our salad. Had to ask for bread multiple times. Hour and ten minutes later we were done. It wasn't even busy.

  • John N.

Waiter was terrible...gave us his name only, no smile, no conversation, took the order and we had to catch him to get refills or anything. Prime rib is excellent!!! The blooming onion was a small greasy disappointment. My wife's steak was dry, tough and tasteless. I won't go back and wait in that crowded lobby again.

  • Jon G.

The only reason I'm giving this a 3 instead of a 2 is the waitstaff were friendly, cheerful, and attractive. There was a sign right inside the door bragging about serving USDA Choice beef. I'm not sure which is more disturbing: That they would admit to not serving Prime, or that their regular customers don't know the difference. The steak was tasty, but no better than what I could fix at home for half the price. If you're going to call yourself a steakhouse, you really should be serving better meat than what your average Joe Sixpack can pick up at the Sav-A-Center.

Here we go for my anniversary dinner. We could have chosen anywhere, but I guess thee residents of Metairie (5 minutes from the dome) makes us closer to Orleans parish than most other areas of the city. I suggested CC Steakhouse, but the parking & neighborhood. How about Houston's downtown? Ah, around the corner is united cab. Any lot nearby is like being near the dome on game day. The streetcar would have been a fine fit!! So we picked the Metairie restaurant strip: voodoo BBQ, outback, cafe east, Buffalo Wild Wings, and some bar across veterans that has finger food. We chose outback. A pager with a 50 minute wait? "How much longer?", she asked. Oh about 20 minutes! Luckily it was only 20 minutes. We got steak & chicken on the Barbie, and filet with lobster tail for her. The sides of garlic potatoes were just like crazy johnny's. Tea & water- both always filled promptly. A bit of paper on the ground to be expected. A handprint on a dried table was the most we could find wrong. The steak was cooked a perfect medium rare without even asking (sign of s good chef), but the chicken looked a little dry-but tasted fine. No dessert we were both tired, and we returned to our safe car (there were 2 units with flashing lights on in the lot of whole foods!!). Overall we felt safe & enjoyed our food. We returned to our undamaged new car in the rear. Would we risk a different outcome by "venturing" into an unknown area? No way. I've had it happen before. So yes, security, restrooms, parking, a spilled white drink that looks like........without the glass nearby. All of these things or a bully manager affects our anniversary experience. These are the tiny details I LIKE to read about on yelp. Good food is just one part of the meal. Service, atmosphere, employees, management make the other 90%. Sometimes a good employee can tell you what you want to hear to make the food experience better. After all--it is the total EXPERIENCE, and it only takes 1 person to mess that up. ALSO, one person can work it away. We give managers & servers something they would normally never hear--the truth. They should be thankful such a channel exists, and a venue to refute it if they think it is wrong. Sometimes a restaurant can have an off day "said a restaurant owner visiting from New York". It just the reality of the world, and for those that want to cry to yelp it doesn't help deleting anything related to the "total" experience. Happy anniversary, Kurt

well me and my family had a great evening until we decide to have dinner at this location. the hostress was very pleasent and we were seated right away and the nightmare began. the food was ok until we received my granddaughter steak. the steak was so over cooked tonthe point it was burned and dry with no flavor. the shrimp we ordered finally arrived after waiting an hour. the manger came over to our table and gave an apology and comp out bill for the shrimp and offer free desert. by that time we were all disappointed and ready to go home.

Went for lunch today and the girl at the desk acted like she would rather be somewhere else. When we talked to her she never responded. After a few moments she said follow me. The waitress was very nice and helpful. We hadn't been there for a couple of years. The sirloin steak was tough and the lobster was tiny. Always loved eating there but the place ain't what use to be. We won't be back anytime soon.

I've been to the Outback on the westbank so many times. It's not the best steak I've ever had but it was decent food with decent service. This trip was just horrible. We ordered a spinach dip appetizer. The chips were most definitely fried in bad grease and sat out for a while. They were overly greasy. My friends and I all ordered the Outback special 9 oz medium rare. All the steaks were burnt and undercooked on the outside. One was still mooing, one had just been slaughtered. And they were abnormal spicy. Trying to be polite my friends and I were being funny while complaining, trying to not make a big deal. Still making our complaint obvious. Our server was very kind and gave us awesome service. The manager walked over to see what was up. As we tried to explain what was wrong he kept saying over and over "If you just let us know when something's wrong, we can fix it." Meanwhile, you know, while we were TRYING to tell him what was wrong. He kept talking down to us like we were stupid. Not appreciated. Another table that was sat before us waited ten minutes after we got our bread to get some. The kitchen was just horrible. We ended up with complimentary deserts. The cheesecake was served on a plate just plain. No crust. No crust on the cheesecake. Really...

We've decided that the only way to have a good experience here is to sit at the bar. Then the waitress/bartender has no choice but to pay attention. As usual the silverware was late and the food came too quickly vs. the timing of the appetizer. But when the bartender is standing five feet away she makes sure you're happy. Sam was great.

I know it's a chain. And I know I live in the best restaurant/food city in the world. But I just love Outback. The steaks are cheap, and not that bad. And I love the Bloomin Onion. And the fresh pumpernickel bread is just the best.

  • Mike J.

I enjoy coming here with my wife. We like to walk in and grab the first available seat in the bar area. We prefer to sit and have a drink before the meal and this is the perfect place and you don't feel rushed. Best time for the bar area is between 630-730 and 900 to close. I had an item delivered that was not to my liking and the quickly took care of it and replaced it. This location in Metairie appears to be ahead of the game on customer service. I have not had similar experience in Marrero or out of state. Good food and fair prices.

We went last night and we were disappointed. Usually we love it here. We got the lobster & shrimp bites appetizer & nothing like the pic on their menu. We got about a dozen lil shrimp & 1 1/2 lil lobster bites. We even asked the lil waitress who brought it out if that is all the lobster you get? She juat asked if we wanted her to get our server for us & we said yes. Never saw him so we just ate it. The sauce that came with it was at least tasty. Then another different waiter brought us our entrees. I got the 6oz Victoria filet and the lobster tail old bay style. The filet was pathetic but at least they were able to cook it right. Our regular server finally showed up towards the end and gave us drink refills. Could of used one during our meal. Got the bill & it was 26.99 instead of 25.99 per the menu. We asked the waiter and he went off and checked with his manager and came back and said it was because of the old bay style we got. they should have at least told us that when you order it that there is an upcharge. I don't like surprises. We won't be going back anytime soon. I don't recommend the lobster & shrimp appetizer as it was not worth $10.

Outback has come along way over the years. They have upped their atmosphere to be not so blatantly kitschy Australian and most times they serve a decent steak. Their prices are reasonable and they have a vast menu that would suit anyones needs from grilled, fried, pasta and salads. Their sides have become healthier over the years and they now offer a grilled asparagus that is perfectly good, not overdone. Their fish options are good but honestly I would eat fish elsewhere in the city where I know for a fact it is fresh off the boat. The wait here can be a bit nuts so I suggest, if you think of it to call ahead. The tables turn pretty quick so even on a busy night your wait won't be THAT long. They also offer for you to sit first come first serve in the bar area which is nice although I have found opting for this almost always guarantees that you will get not as good service. I have never understood that but it just kind of seems the way it goes. I wish they would bring back the chicken and shrimp pasta, it was one of my faves here. If you get a steak spring for sauteed mushrooms, they are very good. The bloomin onion is good (did you know that it was originally invented right here in a New Orleans test kitchen. The Bloomin' Onion, actually a Japanese tempura chrysanthemum onion, is served with an authentic New Orleans rémoulade. Sometimes it is so good and sometimes I have had better but its a fried onion so like pizza, it can't be that bad. Prices are reasonable, food is good, atmosphere is good... a perfectly good spot

The curbside Take-away is the best. We get it once a month when we don't feel like cooking. There steaks are really good. The sides are also tasty. You always gotta start

I often eat out. When I do leave reviews, I do so thoroughly. My friend and I came here to eat yesterday. We had a total of three people. The hostess sat us down at a table. We asked if we can have a booth seeing that there were many empty booths around but she said since there was a shift change going on and there weren't enough servers. As a server myself I understood this concept. It didn't bugged me as much. Our server came around to get our drink orders. The first thing I noticed was that his apron was dirty; his uniform was black and there were white streaks on his apron which is very noticeable. After coming out with our drinks he turned around to leave, not even bothering to ask if we were ready to order appetizers. We stopped him and said we were ready to order our appetizers. We ordered several. Our server brought out the bread that Outback typically serves. The appetizers seem to take a while which I didn't really mind since I had plenty of time. However, when the appetizers did come, the server showed no sign of picking up our dirty plates. This bothered me since we sat at a small table and the table was getting pretty crowded. We all are our appetizers which tasted fine. The stuffed mushrooms were really good. The entrées we had ordered seem to be taking a while. I had finished drinking my iced tea and was waiting for a refill. However, after three minutes of waiting, I got slightly impatient so I started moving the ice around with my straw, making that really annoying sound, trying to signal my server that I needed a refill. Our server, whose name I do not know since he did not introduce himself, was actually standing right behind my friend talking to another table. Normally I don't really mind this as much, however, there was another server sitting at that table and they were talking to each other. Our server made several other rounds before coming back with my tea. Later when he came with our entrées he commented "...... Oh that's hot" and the handed me the dish, which was hot. I quickly set it down on the table. Our server paid no attention to this. After he set all the entrées down, he cleared some of the dishes, however not all of them. The table remain crowded. Can I mentioned that he was so lazy that he did not take the dirty dishes to the kitchen. He simply set it on another table. I have a short comment on the food. I ordered a salmon dish, I don't remember exactly what was it was called, however the picture in the menu it was a salmon filet topped with what seem like mango and bell peppers. The salmon dish I got was simply a salmon filet nothing on top. The side of steamed broccoli that I had gotten was also not cut; they were in big stalks that made it difficult to eat. The plate looked pretty empty as well. May I add, on our way and, there was a sign in front that said "hiring EXPERIENCED servers". They need it. The service was really bad. It took an hour to bring us silverware! Then we asked for Kids menu and that too required patience. Food was the same as service NOT GREAT! Spend your money somewhere else.............

I always thought Outback was OK. I eat there occasionally. Tonight, however was NOT OK! In fact, it was really pretty bad. First. The yummy bread they give you was either stale or over microwaved and allowed to cool down, so it was dry and not warm enough to melt the butter. I ordered Tortilla soup, one of my favorites. It was barely warm. I sent it back to be heated. I then ordered the Wednesday 3 course special with the 6 ounce steak "well done-NO PINK!" I also ordered their new side, potato cakes with cheese sauce, bacon bits, and chives. "NO sour cream." They delivered my steak and said they had to recook the potatoes because they put sour cream on them. "2 minutes to recook." As I wait, I cut into my steak. It is actually bloody in the middle. My family starts eating their meal, and I wait, thinking they will bring potatoes in 2 minutes. I can tell them about the steak then. The manager then comes out with the new potatoes, I tell him about the steak, he brings it back to be cooked. I finished my potatoes, and I sit and wait. The state finally arrives, I cut into it, and it is well done. In fact, it is totally over done. I was so frustrated, I just ate it tough as it was. As part of the Wednesday special, dessert comes with a three course meal. The daughter orders cheesecake, and I order a carrot cake, but we order it to go. Stupid me for not checking the bag. When we got home, there were those two pieces of cheesecake and no carrot cake. When the waiter repeated one cheesecake one carrot cake, I assumed I would be safe not checking it. Lesson learned, when dealing with outback, never assume they will get it right.

I did the unthinkable. I got in a car and drove away from my cozy New Orleans neighborhood with an abundance of local restaurants, headed into the wrath of suburban Metairie traffic, and ate at a national big box chain. And it was pretty good. Anyone that has seen 'Waiting' or 'Office Space' can understand my trepidations. An overly excited wait staff with "flair", kitschy decorations, less than sanitary line cooks, and a gargantuan menu of blah. Outback manages to avoid most of these annoyances and separate itself from the Chili's and Applebees of the world. For starters, they don't try to do everything. Any menu that has wonton tacos a page away from ribs and cole slaw is clearly trying too hard. Outback serves a handful of items and they do them well: steaks, burgers, chicken and seafood. That's it. Simple and well executed. None of it is spectacular, but everything is consistently good. I rarely eat steak, so I opted for the Mahi Mahi with a light lemon cream sauce topped with artichokes and sun dried tomatoes. It was better than I expected. Back in the day, Outback was awash with bright colors, boomerangs, pictures of kangaroos and blatant promotion of Fosters beer. I often wondered if Australia had any 'American' restaurants and if so what would they hang on the walls? Today, Outback is a different place. If the sign wasn't on the front door, you wouldn't know what restaurant you just walked into. The wait staff is dressed in all black, the decor is sleek and contemporary, and the beers on tap do not include Fosters. For a moment, you might think that you're in warehouse district, until you realize that this is Metairie and the "bar" is actually a community high chair, not a place to stand around and socialize. All in all, Outback serves its purpose. The prices are a little on the high side, but its hard to imagine being genuinely disappointed with the food here.

I am not a steak person so I end up eating their non-steak items and find their food to be so-so. My boyfriend, who loves steak, enjoys it and says good at a great price. So, the conclusion is go for the steak only, otherwise you might be disappointed.

Delicious food as always with every Outback we've eaten at! Service was excellent and the place was busy! Not a bad wait time. Our ribs and steaks were delicious. Very tender! We had a bloomin' onion - of course, that's a must at Outback. Excellent food and service. Nice restaurant and atmosphere!

If you are a spinach artichoke dip fan, you will love Outback's! For me, it was to die for! I shared it and for my portion, I had, I kid you not, at least 5-6 large chunks of artichoke hearts! It had a perfect balance of heart chunks, spinach and cheese. It was not too thick and was not soupy. It was seriously the best spinach artichoke dip I've ever had. It is served with crispy focaccia bread and slices of their brown bread baked semi-crisp. The bread was neither here nor there though -- the dip would have been great with any dipper! On the downside, the garlic mashed potatoes were less than thrilling -- too much garlic and not enough butter. Oh, and fyi, the "call ahead feature" is really just reservations. I thought it meant I could say "I'm on my way, will you please put my name on the list?" Nope. The first available slot for "call ahead" was 1 1/2 hours. We got lucky and found a booth in the bar anyway.

Steaks are always oversalted. Undercooked baked potato. Ribs are smothered in a too-sweet bbq sauce. Salad was decent. Garlic mashed potatoes luke warm. About what you'd expect from a so-so chain steakhouse. However, the prices are pretty high for what you get.

My wife and I went this restaurant. While we were there, there was a computer problem and our order was not given to the kitchen. The manager came out and personally apologized, gave us our appetizer free, and offered us a free desert. This was superb customer service. I would have been satisfied with a simple apology.

We started off with a hour wait but had a large group of family celebrating my daughters dance recital so we were fine with that.. While we were waiting my daughter sat on a table/chair that was out for use for customers. (At this time we didn't know if was broken) The floor was slick (as it always is at Outback) but the design it this table/chair was somewhat of a tripod shape in nature and was very unstable by design and because it was broken. Of course my daughter took a tumble and screamed in pain at the top of her lungs (The child never cries so I know it had to hurt). No one came over at all to see if she was ok. I took her to the restroom and she had a large cut and huge bruise along her rib cage. I went back and examined the table/chair and asked to speak to the manager to show him the condition and design of the table/chair and to let him know that he may want to pick it up so that no one else gets hurt. Jay Hamric comes over and claims he is the manager/owner. This guy is a complete jerk and was not happy with me pointing out this at all..he raised his voice at me and asked.."Am I gonna have to me a claim for this or what?" " This chair has been out her for three years and no one else has had a problem with it!" Not once did he ask if my daughter was ok nor did he care. I am giving this restaurant a thumbs down for "management".. This guy was a complete Jerk with no people skills, compassion or hospitality. I was not looking to file a claim or looking for a free meal..I just didn't want anyone else to get hurt. Will never return to this location of Outback..it was a total nightmare and ruined the ending of a great day. Thanks Jay!

Came here last week, and was pleasantly surprised by the service. After having terrible service at several other restaurants in the area, this one was a pleasant surprise. We were greeted right away, and sat right away. Our waiter, Louie, was polite and personable. (Seemingly hard to find around here?!) We both ordered burgers, which I regret not taking a pic of! (Sorry). They were both PERFECT. Fresh tasting. A huge burger. Fries just right. Need I say more? The lighting is slightly dim, but each table has its own lamp, which makes for an intimate setting. We love this place. And will certainly be back. I've got to try a steak!!

I really love outback, I have been to this location several times. However, every time I go to this location and get an order to go, something is forgotten. To be fair, they always give me my item when I call them and an extra item to compensate for their mistake, but most of the time when I go here my order is between $80 and $100. If I am going to spend that much money, I don't want to go home and find out my order is missing something. It is not fun to have to call them back and drive 15 minutes away to get my food. I am still giving them four stars because every time I go and anything like that happens they are extremely apologetic and try their best to make up for their mistake. The staff especially at Takeaway is very friendly. Plus the food is awesome, so that really helps.

Done with this Outback! The service is consistently slow whether is dining in for dinner, lunch or curbside take away. On two separate occasions I ordered a steak cooked medium well. On BOTH occasions, the steak was cooked well done and dried out. On BOTH occasions I sent the steak back TWICE and on the 3rd try the steak was STILL well done. The told me I could take it home but no thanks. A STEAKHOUSE should be able to handle cooking a steak to order RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. I've eaten at a lot of Outbacks that had good food and service. So, I was quite surprised and disappointed that it takes soooo long to place an order, then wait to receive the order for a long time, then the order is not right...not once, twice, three times on more than one occasion!

Sorry, I have always been a fan of Outback and have enjoyed many meals in many locations over the years. Metarie you are in need of help. I am not sure if it was because it was Mardi Gras Day and slow but poor is poor. Young lady at the bar sets your beer in the well at the front of the bar not on the bar, small but poor practice. Bread placed on bar like a rock, I should not have to point this out it was overdone Chopped Salad came out as your normal salad with pecans and blue cheese, I have not had this item in a while and if the standard changed fine but pretty sad. Steak ordered Medium Rare and came out very rare, I used to work kitchen and understand under better than over, sent it back over 8 minutes later kitchen manager? Brings it back out and it is half as tall as it was and now medium well. I after cutting into it I looked back to him and asked for a box since someone threw it on the grill and smashed it until it cooked through I would take it home for my dog. He offered to cook another and I told him I did not have another 30 minutes to sit there, box please? I waited a few minutes as he and the gentleman behind the bar retreated to the kitchen. No box, dropped 20 on the bar for the beer and salad and walked out, left too much Besides basic food service problems, girl behind the bar playing with her face and hair and just moving on to making drinks no hand washing and the apparently starving waitress who stood at the well and ate off the garnish buffet at the other bar at least 3 times while I was there Food service 101 Outback is known for consistency and quality, poor showing Plus side the service from the bartender was good

I was never a fan of chain places, but I go to Outback at least once every two weeks. Starting off, you can't go wrong with the bloomin' onion or their new spin & artichoke dip, both perfect! For me, I can't eat huge meals, especially if they already come with a side AND a salad. Usually, I'd get the grilled chicken on the barbie... UNTIL I discovered there was a KIDS grilled chicken on the barbie, SAME thing, smaller size & still comes with one side! Recently you may have noticed that Outback changed the way they cook things with using the new wood fired grill. While this new method makes their steaks taste EVEN better. It makes the chicken not so good... so, you can still tell them you want your stuff (whether it be chicken or steaks) cooked on the FLAT TOP! They'll know exactly what you mean! Their baked potato is always a great size, also! If you're looking to get a great deal and be full, this is the place to go. They always have deals going, like right now you can get a sirloin and shrimp or a sirloin and a grilled lobster tail, for around $12.99! They have also recently gotten a full makeover, still the Australian rustic feel with a more modern/up to date touch!

I have been here many times, i always seemed to forget to write a review. For me to go to this Outback i need to drive 14 miles which is not that far but not right around the corner from my house. Sometimes the wait it long but some days you only wait 10 - 15 mins. They redid the inside to look more modern and it looks pretty good. I don't care for the floor because it feels slippery and the chairs slide to easy. The wait staff are usually always very nice and extremely friendly. Our food time is about the same with any nice restaurant. This last experience for an appetizer we got seared Tuna, well it was a little to raw for our taste and was going to tell the waitress to just take a way but she offered for them to cook it more, she brought back in a couple min and when we tried it damn was it good and i am glad she did that or i would have missed out on that very tasty Tuna. It was too late in the night for me to get my favorite cut of beef ( Prime Rib ) but that was ok i got a Ribeye instead. We were so stuffed by the time the main meal came we only nibbled on it and brought it home. But both steaks were awesome and the garlic mashed potatoes were freakin good i never can get it the same at home. Even though Outback is a chain restaurant it doesn't feel like it too much and we always have a enjoyable experience.

The food is great. I love their onion flower-shape. As for entree, I had the tilapia with risotto and baked potato. Yum... The food was fresh and delicious. I would love to come back here again. Great service.

Service was bad, steak was not cooked right and was tough. The waiter spilled tea near our table and didn't not even attempt to clean it up. I do have to say the Manager stepped up to the plate and that is the only reason I will give them a try again.

My husband and I consider ourselves big steak eaters. I like fillet, he likes ribeye. They really do have an awesome char grilled ribeye(10 oz or 14oz) It has that nice salty crust. . I have gotten the fillet salad about 3 times. Its served with a lettuce wedge, bacon, cherry tomatoes, blue cheese crumbles, red onion and blue cheese dressing and a balsamic drizzle. They say its fillet but I think its really prime rib and you cant have it cooked to order so it comes out med well to well. Its a delicious salad either as an entree or split as an app. The victoria's fillet is always a safe choice. We have never had to send the food back. The warm bread and butter is always good and plenty of it. The new dessert, strawberry waffle thing reminds me of social city's dessert they used to have. Warm belgium style waffle layers with strawberry cream cheese in the middle and more strawberries and whip cream on top-yummy!!! The kids sundae, enough for 2, is a bargain at 1.99 with rich choc fudge. Oh and our service has gotten better and better each visit :)

So, it's a Monday in NOLA (the "Sabbath" of restaurants), we have the night off, the kid and I'm starving. As I am vegging out on the couch, an Outback commercial comes on. Eureka! I need that Steak and crab cake dinner! Stat! Let's load up the family truckster and roll out to Metry! Parking lot is ample, there was no wait (around 6:30/7) and bebe gets a coloring book and crayons to chew on whe we wait for our food and drinks. Sweet. Surveying the room, I spy mostly young families with small kids and old people. Yup. We are in the right place. Just like every Outback everywhere, the food and service was exactly what I expected. Steaks cooked perfectly, drinks standard, and everyone ended up full and happy. I don't usually like chain restaurants, but Outback is an exception. The consistency of it, from one visit to the next is kind of relaxing and mindless, and that is perfect when you aren't looking for a food adventure, but simply for a lazy meal on a lazy day.

Dear @Outback_Tonight, I can overlook bad service when the food is GREAT but, when neither is working it makes for a BAD EXPERIENCE. We had a gift card from the holidays so we thought we would try Outback, not someplace we would normally go. We aren't big on the "national chain restaurants" and in a foodie city like New Orleans you can eat for a lifetime without going to these chains. At the door we were told our table was going to be 30 mins so we headed to the bar. We sat there for awhile before we were ever acknowledged with multiple bartenders behind the bar. When we were served our drinks came quickly. We weren't there too long because our 30 min wait for a table was less than 15 mins. At this point, I had high hopes. We were ready to order when we sat down since we had sat at the bar with the menus in our hands. Our server didn't seem too attentive from the get go, we were ready to order but she seems to have another agenda. When we sat she asked us if we needed drinks (duh since there are two full drinks in front of us), then she was off for bread which wasn't even speedy. Then she takes our order when she finally returns with the bread...it would have been nice if she took our order before and we had our bread with our salads. I order the ribeye (the larger cut) medium-well and she orders the ribeye (the smaller cut) medium. When the steaks come mine is RED (anyone that has read any of my reviews knows that if it's red, bloody or goes MOOOO it's too rare for me). Her's that was medium was cooked WAY MORE than mine that was supposed to be medium-well. By the time she checks back I have already eaten a piece of her's, I'm eating the veggies and halfway through my baked potato. I was just going to take the nearly raw steak home and just cook it more myself the next day but when she finally does check back I show her the bloody slab of steak and she rushes it back to the kitchen on my bread plate (which I did, so at least I still have the rest of the meal, there is nothing I hate more then having to send something back while others are eating...which is why I don't like to send things back to get cooked more). The steak did return after awhile and was brought by what I assume was the manager, it did have a new baked potato and order of veggies. By this point she is done eating and I'm over the whole steak thing. Our server never did apologize or anything. The server, seemingly wanting to just want to get us out of there then quickly slides the check on the table and quickly moves on. No "can I get you anything else?" since our drinks had been empty for awhile or "can I get you any coffee or desert?". When I'm able to flag her down we to order desert and I get a box to take home the steak I never touched (along with the new potato & veggies which I'm thankful for the next day). We order the sampler desert with 3 small samples. When it arrives, we eat one and take the corners off of the two others and decide to take them. In her next passing I have to flag her down and we ask for a to go container for those and we never see her again. A friendly guy is later sent to us and goes to the table across from us, as he is walking away he realizes we are the table he was sent too and he quickly and in a very friendly manner takes care of us. Overall we spend $75+ for two of us on a meal (the gift card was only $25), I hardly ate my steak and service was just not good (and that extends to the kitchen staff!). I don't know if I'll go back to this Outback. For the $50 I spent out of pocket it seems like there are a lot of other places I would have had a much better experience. During the course of the night I had "checked in" on yelp & 4square and we had tweeted on how we were not having a good experience and a chorus of messages came back about bad experiences at this location so it doesn't seem like this was a uncommon occurrence. There are way too many restaurants in this town to have a bad experience, maybe it because it's a chain-thing and people just come flocking back like "Outback" is some sign of great quality and service, I think I'd rather go to a locally owned place that actually cares. I guess in words they might understand I'd have to say, "See ya around mate, we ain't coming back anytime soon".

I've been here a few times and the quality of food depends on what you order. The steaks are excellent and perfectly cooked and seasoned. The baked sweet potato was delicious. The grilled salmon however is poorly seasoned. It was cooked nicely but it was bland. The salmon was definitely frozen. The grilled asparagus was also bland and poorly cooked. They were borderline raw and extremely tough. If you go here, be prepared to wait before being seated especially if it's dinner time. The service was nice and we did get our food in a timely manner.

Since it was lobster fest I decided to come with the family for a cheap steak and lobster meal. It was delicious. The steak was cooked to perfection and my lobster tail was nice and not dried out. My sister got the Toowoomba pasta and she said it was creamy and cooked just right. The price was reasonable and our waiter was helpful and fast. I will return here again.

They should rename this place from "Outback" to "Out-And-Back" because it seems they cannot properly cook a piece of meat to save their lives. Although it could be the FOH's inability to promptly get food out from under whatever Very-Large-Array of heat lamps they have these things suntanning under. Every time I go to Outback I ask myself why did I do that? What is wrong with me that I can't spend an extra 72 seconds in the car and go to someplace that has better food and service? I have a suggestion.. maybe they should tie strings to the menus and anchor them to the tables so myself and other people stop trying to give them to the waitstaff? Is that driving you all nuts yet? Every other restaurant takes the menu off the table. Or maybe you can put the menus under glass on the table itself? That way when you're eating item A and it tastes like Dingo, you can look at a picture of item B and imagine that tastes better and you ordered wrong?

Bought my mom there for Mother's Day a section of the restaurant was closed they had no servers on Mothers Day imagine that when we were finally seated no servers ever showed up,I asked the hostess several times for the manager and she refused,I asked the barmaid to get the manager. And she did so.Finally we got a server and placed our order ,it took over 45 minutes to get our food my 78 year old mother was starving!Athe food was fair we just wanted to get out of there! They definitely ruined my ?Mothers day celebration thanks Outback!!!

  • Jeremy S.

The quality is hit or miss. Sometimes my steak is seasoned perfectly, while other times there is too much pepper, or other seasoning. Sometimes my steak is cooked medium rare, while other times it's overcooked. The final straw was when we were too tired to cook and too lazy to eat out. We ordered it to go and they put our fries in the same box as the juicy steak, with absolutely no protection. The fries were soggy and disgusting. Use tinfoil or put them in a separate container! In the same trip they were out of creamy onion soup. I can't remember what I got instead, but it was not pleasant.

Horrible service!! At 2:30 on a Sunday it was not that busy. We were seated immediately which was great, we got a booth as I had requested. We waited over 15 minutes without being greeted or even acknowledged. 4 wait staff and 2 busboys walked by and never looked at us. We closed our menus hoping that this would possibly get someone's attention.. It did not, when the table behind us was seated and they were immediately greeted upon we left. On the way out the door we informed the hostess of the situation to which she barley apologized and acted like we were bothering her. We won't be back.. We instead went to Houston's

It's give or take here. When it's good, it's real good. Steaks can be yummy and delicious, some of the best I have had, but other times the steak is overcooked and kind of dry. Cheese fries are great and Alice Springs Chicken is always good!

  • Michael B.

Bad. Just BAD. Ordered prime rib medium rare. I got the "last piece " according to the waiter. It was almost cold and just about well done. The top had a few pink spots but the meat was dry and over cooked. They gave me a side of au jus as if I was eating a French Dip. This place is terrible. Go somewhere else.

  • Katie W.

  • Donna B.

Decent food. Had to wait to be seated for about 20 minutes in a more than half empty restaurant. Server was horrible, very inattentive.
