Finally a real good burger place that's not a bar! Wayyyyy better than five guys. Its also better than the over rated EXPENSIVE Company Burger. Great burger great buns n good fries. Shakes are also awesome.

After just one visit I knew I would be a fan of MOOYAH's, and my second visit solidified this belief. This is "fast food" at is best and ranks up there with my personal favorites of In-N-Out, Five Guys and Johnny Rockets. All future references to my favorite burger spots will include MOOYAH's. Burger options include beef, double beef, turkey burgers, black bean veggie burgers as well as an all beef hot dog. Bun options include white, wheat or a no bun lettuce wrap. There are a multitude of free sauces and veggies to choose from, including grilled options. (Yeah, I love me some grilled onions) I am a cheeseburger lover, so kudos to MOOYAH's for all the different cheese options; particularly the blue cheese option. The counter personnel are very friendly and seemed genuinely enthusiastic about being here. Once your food is ordered, a separate "server" will bring you your food. My burger was the closest I've had to a home cooked burger in a long time. This was no mass produced symmetrical hockey puck, but rather a hand formed asymmetrical food wonder. There was just a slight char on the burger and it was juicy as heck. I always judge a burger not only by taste, but also by how much juice drips onto my tray and down my wrists; and MOOYAH's is slinging a damn good juicy burger. Furthermore, they don't skimp on the cheese, as mine was piled high. The French fries were definitely not frozen as you could see the cases of Cross Valley Farms Idaho potatoes stacked high. These were some delicious fries, but not for the faint of heart, or those with a bad heart. I'm no nutritionist, but I'm betting these fries aren't "heart healthy". However, they are superb. Besides, I'm not going to MOOYAH's for a healthy meal. I'm going for a damn good burger and order of fries. The restaurant itself was very clean and I enjoyed the manager's visit to my table to see if everything was prepared to my satisfaction; which it was. This is a very kid friendly place and I especially like the humongous Noodle Doodle chalkboard for the kids to draw on. There are also 3 huge flat screen TV's on the walls for the adults, so it's a win-win for everyone. I am looking forward to my next visit so I can try one of their milkshakes.

Another fancy burger joint that steps on the scene in the like of 5 Guys but better. You order your burger pick your toppings and wait for your number to be called. The burgers are thin (as They should be), juicy and on a smashable bun. The toppings are more extensive than 5 guys as there are a larger variety of cheeses. The fries I believe were fresh cut but I chose the sweet potato version and they were crisp on the outside and fluffy in the middle. Perfect! Mooyah also has shakes. I got a banana shake and it was as expected. 10.00 for a combo meal but since everything is cooked to order, I'd say that is a bargain. Next time I may stop in for a burger then shoot upstairs to World of Beers and skip the shake.

We finally tried Mooyah last night for dinner. I'm not a burger fan, but I enjoyed their burger a lot. The bun is doughy soft and I like how you can customize exactly how you want your burger. I got the sweet potato fries with my order and I think they were the best sweet potato fries I've ever had. The people working at this location were extra friendly. We received our order super quick. There is not a whole lot of parking though. We had tried coming here earlier in the year and there was nowhere to park. That is the only drawback.

So glad MooYah has arrived in Metarie! I try to stick to a Paleo lifestyle and this place and lettuce wrap a burger, no problem! Sweet Potato fry portions are more than plentiful and the customer service and attention is always top notch!

  • Lacie D.

MOOYAH is delicious! The burgers are delicious. The fries are delicious. The shakes are delicious. The options for burger toppings are impressive and most are included in the price. The cheese selection is great. Between cheese options and topping options, you can create countless different burgers. The fries are fresh cut double fried perfection. Shakes are fresh and thick with whipped cream and a cherry on top. Definitely one of the best burgers in the area.

I almost didn't stop because there is no drive through, but bc of the reviews I decided to try I out. OH MY GOODNESS it was the best decision I've made all day. This is by far the best burger and fries I've eaten, the prices are a tad steep, being that I paid 10$ for a combo. However when you take into account the quality and amount of food you receive, you're definitely getting your money's worth. Which is more than I can say for a place like McDonald's or Wendy's. Which honestly I would've paid almost 10$ for anyway. The fries are fresh cut, fried, and salted to perfection. The burger is the perfect size, not too big not too small, and super juicy, the toppings all fresh and added to your specifications. Not to mention the super friendly staff. I will definitely be returning again and again. Keep up the great work guys! ;)

I've been on this burger binge for the past 48 hours and in my rampage I made my way out to Metairie to check off either Atomic Burger, or Mooyah and i decided on here for no particular reason. At first looks from the outside, I thought this place was huge. Upon entry, i realized that there is a separate business (a bar) on the upper level. I got a mooyah with cheese, dressed (that means lettuce, tomato and mayo for you carpet baggers), grilled onions and onion strings on a wheat bun. It was quite a tasty burger, can't say I'd go out of my way for it, but if in Metairie and really in a burger mode, this place would probably be at the front of my head as far as suggestions go. Also got an order of the sweet potato fries and a M&M shake. The fries were really good, hot and crispy. The shake was pretty good as well, they should incorporate large straws for them tho. They are way too thick for the regular straws they have available. Also, while I appreciate the enthusiasm with the shake, 1/4 of it was all diced m&m's, I'm pretty sure it's a bag's worth to a cup. A little overkill there. It's a good burger joint to stop into, certainly a better quick lunch option than your McDonald's or BK.

Another gimmicky burger joint, when you first walk in you see boxes of raw potatoes. The prices seem a little high, but worth trying them out. I got a double cheeseburger with onions with a medium fry. Hope you like fries, they give you a ton of them. Just my order of fries would have been enough for my wife and i with leftovers. I know the new thing is to make fresh homemade fries, but to me they usually taste slightly burnt or over cooked. The burger was really good, i loved it. Lots of flavor and very juicy. I got a milkshake to go, it was really good, very thick and taste great. The tea was weird, not sure if it was brewed or like that nestea crap. All the workers were nice and quick, they cleared our table as soon as we finished.

Not bad, but nothing to hoop and holler over either. Typical build your burger type restaurant which for the 100th time like other reviews state, it's extremely similar to five guys only with milkshakes and a more options to dress your burgers. You also have the option of going bunless if your watching your carbs or getting turkey if your going the leaner route.

    (3)
  • Krystal R.

Clean place. Fast friendly service. They are kind of light on the toppings but you can request more on the side. The food was excellent. I couldn't help but notice the similarities to five guys. My burger was juicy and cooked to perfection. They even had a coloring page and colors for my son. The girl in the dining room kept everything clean and checked on us a few times. No complaints from me!

  • Adrienne N.

My husband and I have eaten here 4 times already and every time has been great. The staff is super friendly and our burgers & fries come hot and ready and just how we ordered them. Everything tastes fresh and delicious.

  • Amanda J.

This shit was amazing. The fries are real. I got mine to go but decided to sit down anyway. A whole cup of fries comes with the combo. How am I supposed to eat all of this?? OMG. So full. So satisfied. I believe I talked with the owner. She's a sweet little Asian lady. She sat on the end of the table where I was eating alone chatting it up with her buddies. She asked me how was my burger and was it my first time. And it was. The service is amazing.

This was our first ever visit here and it did not disappoint. I have family in Baton Rouge who rave about Mooya so I was pretty excited to give it a try. I had the regular burger on a wheat bun and my husband had the double burger on white bun. I'm not sure it's the "best" burgers we've ever had but no question they are toward the top of the list. Especially for counter service burgers. We also had shakes afterward that were awesome. One thing I really loved about this place was the variety of burgers. They have regular beef patties, turkey patties and black bean burgers. They also offer lettuce "buns" in addition to bread. Choice of regular fries or sweet potato fries along with a good selection of toppings for your sandwich. Very satisfied with our experience and will definitely be back.

  • Andrea F.

I want to really like this place. The atmosphere is a bit more fun than that of a Five Guys, but I feel like the trend that is up and coming is this. Fresh prepared burgers, pick your own toppings. The buns are supposedly freshly made, but are not all that special or unique. I just have a feeling that within 6 months, there are going to be 500 places similar to this. The portions are a decent size, the price a bit expensive. The conversation I overheard of one worker who appeared to be cleaning tables and stopped to speak to another worker who was eating in the restaurant (both were wearing the Mooyah uniform) was extremely inappropriate to be having, even in a crowded restaurant where I was the only one that could eavesdrop. I will not divulge any other details of the conversation. I will probably be back, if friends come along with.

First time to a MOOYAH and I was not disappointed. The hamburgers were delicious. I had a Frank's red hot and my daughter had a regular cheeseburger. Ingredients were fresh and the milkshakes were awesome! Very good choice when you want a quality burger!

  • Seth T.

F'n amazing burger & fries...to go this time...next time I'll sit and REALLY enjoy the meal

    (4)
  • Christina S.

Today was my first time eating here and I was very impressed. I had possibly the best veggie burger I've had in years. It had just the right spice, and the fresh bun just put it over the top for me. I also had fries and a chocolate shake which were great. Service was efficient and we didn't have a hard time trying to find a parking spot. My husband had a burger and said that it was also delicious and seasoned... I'm guessing he's ready to give up Five Guys after this experience.

    (4)
  • Rebecca S.

So good. Better than 5 guys, less greasy. You get a mountain of fries. My go-to burger place. Have burgers, turkey burgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, shakes, fries and sweet potato fries. A lot of seating.

    (5)
  • Zoe M.

It was great, I like how you get a choice of grilled onions or regular. I had a cheddar cheese burger with bacon and onions that was honesty great. I hope to come back again.

    (5)
  • Ane T.

Jerry G. I believe I said, "but, to each his own." SIDE NOTE: you are highly mistaken to think that I wasn't born in America. As for that other extremely racist remark, I in fact, do not "do nails." Do not stereotype what you know nothing about. Let's continue to Yelp, shall we? Or maybe I should take a ESL class (yea, you might have to look that acronym up)?

    (5)
  • Karsen K.

Food and service are decent, as well as the prices. My only legitimate complaint is that the burgers are sometimes over seasoned with salt and pepper. The portions are fairly large and filling. I would like being able to add a fried egg, but that's not a big deal.

    (4)
  • Gev J.

Fresh, juicy meet, burger buns has the best taste and texture I've ever tried. Clean, children friendly , very good service. If you like 5 guys, this is even better!

    (5)
  • Bryan D.

We have eaten here many times since they opened and loved it at first. Last visit we tried the double meat burgers and they dripped grease down our arms to our elbows. Ok, I missed the reviewer warning us about that, but today we went and I had a single burger and it dripped even more grease, could not even put the burger down due to puddle of grease on tray. We loved this place, burgers reminded us of our mothers home made burgers and the fries are the best but we won't be back. Will post puddle pictures.

I ate at mooyah a couple weeks ago and it was my first time there. I think it was $10 for fries, a drink and a burger. Plus, you can add whatever you like on the burger with no addition charge!! The food was good and wasn't all that greasy. My burger was juicy and my hands were a sticky, dirty mess though. Overall, that $10 meal made me full. The shakes here weren't that great, they're like Sonic's shakes & they thick as hell. If you flip the cup upside down, the shake will defy gravity. I even threw the milkshake at my friend and it stayed in one piece LOL!! But if you're craving for a milkshake then it best to let it thaw for awhile.

  • Justin L.

I'm going to be generous and give it a 4-star. It ain't quite a three but it ain't quite a four. So in the world of Yelp, you pick a number. Overall, the burger is decent. It is not much different from Atomic, Smash, or Five Guys. And their price is quite high much like all the other burger joints out there. It's on par with everyone else -- just a good solid burger. I think what nudges them to earn a Four is the hospitality. The "Welcome to Mooyahs" and the bus-like individuals gives them an added touch of "why we do burgers different." So open your mouth and start chomping b/c you'll enjoy their burger well-enough.

    (4)
  • Gracie B.

Surprisingly really good burgers! I was definitely impressed. Although a bit pricey. WAY better than Atomic Burger... it's about what & what with Five Guys! Although it can not beat Lee's Hamburgers. I would recommend it to a friend. Try the onions "strings" on your burger. SO TASTY.

    (4)
  • Sire D.

Decent burger. I had the mooyah with swiss, grilled onions, mushrooms, lettuce, tomato. It was worth the visit but wasn't really anything to brag or write home about. Not sure if I would make it one of my go to places for a burger.

    (3)
  • Kurt L.

I like the fries, but if you get a double patty burger it sort of drips grease. Don't get me wrong, but it's just not eye candy. Never tried the shakes yet, and the cholula hot sauce (NEW YORK CITY) needs to be swapped out with Tabasco sauce. I like the ice even though it only comes a close second to Scotsman ice machines.

  • Arthur W.

I like this place. The restaurant reminds you of a 5 Guys. My girlfriend enjoyed the "Moodle Doodle" board while we waited for our meal. You order the what you want (Mooyah burger, double burger, turkey burger, black bean burger, or all beef hot dog). Next you pick your bun (white, wheat, or lettuce wrap). Next you pick your cheeses and any extras you'd like. Cheese is .70 cents and bacon is .99 cents. I went with Mooyah Burger, American cheese, apple wood bacon, mayo, mustard, ketchup, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and spicy ranch on the side. I got the combo with small fries. And the small fry order is the size of a large at most restaurants. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal even though the burgers are smaller than a 5 Guys burger. Service is top notch. Very polite and helpful staff. I will definitely come here again.

  • Shannon S.

This place is reminiscent of a 5 Guys Burgers but with more bun and topping choices and less good tasting meat. For the price in this section of Metairie I prefer Phil's Grill as you get a more delicious burger. They do provide really great customer service here and come by your table frequently to check up on you. They don't have mustard available on the table or condiment area which is also a real drag to mustard fanatics like myself. Overall a decent joint to grab a burger and worth trying out but I would probably head to Phil's Grill for a similar experience and better tasting burger for my money.

    (3)
  • John S.

Not a bad place for a burger. VERY similar to 5 guys. Even the fries are served the same way with plenty of extra added to the bag. Milk shakes are ok but there are plenty of places with better ones. Both Atomic Burger and Baskin Robbins are just a few blocks away with much better shakes. I would have given another star for a drive through or better parking. However parking can be a challenge when it starts to fill up and no drive through. This mean to get take out you MUST park and go in and wait.

    (2)
  • Diane H.

Alrighty as promised i went back with at least one of my guys. Well after much anticipated long wait, the Metairie store is open and I went for my traditional favorite a cheeseburger with cheddar and nothing else. I like to be able to taste my burger. The burger patty was bigger than my bun and had an awesome crisp grilled bottom which I love on my burger. The buns are also made fresh daily and were light and fluffy which made it better and didn't take away from the taste of my burger. My meal was served on a paper lined metal tray with a mound of salty hand cut fries and unlimited drink refills. The staff and facility were excellent as well and I hope they are around for a long time. They are located on Veterans Blvd. in Metry just below the World of Beers. Can't wait to get another Mooyah Burger then head upstairs for some beers. Good luck Mooyah!!!!

    (5)
  • Billie Jo M.

This is by far one of my favorite places to eat. I don't eat burgers so when my fiancé says let's go to a burger joint my first question is...what am I going to eat? Mooyah offers a delicious veggie burger that I can get on a wheat bun. He loves the burgers, I love the veggie burger, it's perfect!!

    (4)
  • Richard A.

We tried to eat there today but when I picked up my burger, the grease and water just poured out. We threw the burgers away and walked out.

    (1)
  • Mathew W.

Delicious "build your own" burger offering. Really fresh ingredients and good quality meat. I am a frequent visitor (it's hard to stay away). They definitely offer a better product than their competitors.

    (4)
  • Chareese W.

The burgers are pricey but the fresh food is awesome! They walk around to ensure you have everything you need. The only issue is it's really loud! They shout your name and order over the intercom.

    (4)
  • Jerry G.

Small burgers must get them well done only fries are good cashiers said we could get our burgers medium so when they brought them to the table they were burned manager couldn't,t figure out how to give us a refund. Very loud inside world of beers next door takes all of the parking places. Would prefer Atomic Burger get your burger cooked your way!

    (1)
  • Drew N.

Great place for a burger, reminds me a lot like 5 guys but with out all that grease. I had the mooyah Burger with mooyah sauce and loved it, sauce was some like 1000 island dressing but I like sweet food, that's if your in sweet food. There lemonade was awesome. Tv and a lot of seating. My girlfriend loved her burger. Very clean, and the Service was helpful. Will be back soon!!

    (5)
  • Maria M.

Upbeat atmosphere. Burgers are delicious and fresh. Omg!!! The milkshakes are out of this world-scrumptious!!!!

    (5)
  • Leslie L.

Mooyah isn't too far from Atomic Burger and is located right next to World of Beer, where they have probably THE widest selection of beer. Unfortunately, the burger joint itself doesn't sell beer so I couldn't enjoy a cold one while I ate my burger, but that's okay. That's what the bar next door is for! Anyways, back to my burger, there's the option for a double patty burger and on this particular day, I definitely needed a double. I have to mention that the service at Mooyah is a little lacking. The cashier at the counter wasn't helpful or friendly at all. It wasn't busy and there was only one person behind me. Regardless, the menu is easy to figure out. Mooyah also offers a variety of toppings. I ordered my classic swiss, fried onions, mushrooms burger. Everything was great, but I will say that the bottom bun is thicker and more pillowy than most burgers. The Mooyah Burger is a lot messier, but probably a result of adding a double patty and a multitude of toppings. I like the variety and options that Mooyah offers.

  • K B.

Clean , fresh, great service.. Turkey Burger is the way to go. Very juicy and tasty. Wheat Bun extremely fresh. Not over exaggerating but if you want a good burger, I would highly recommend.

    (5)
  • Kiki B.

When your in the mood for a tasty burger Mooyah is satisfying. Since building your burger is a trend there are plenty of options. Their shoestring fries are like Lays potato chips hard to eat just one. This is my second visit and I didn't have a burger I got the chicken strip salad, which had bacon, romaine, avocado, tomato, mushroom, and shoestring onion rings. Fresh fresh fresh. Will be back

    (4)
  • Andrew T.

Burger has great flavor, it's nice to pick your toppings. Good fries and shakes. It is slightly expensive but I think it is worth it.

    (4)
  • Doc E.

I really love the turkey burgers! They're juicy and full of flavor. I was introduced to Mooyah by a friend and haven't stopped going there since. If your ever in Metairie, LA. I highly recommend you give this place a try. You won't regret the food nor the service!

    (4)
  • Anna T.

I went here for a quick lunch since I was craving for burgers. Nice place with a few people in there. The wait wasn't bad either. The burger was just ok. The patty seems like it needs more seasoning since it tasted kind of bland. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh. I really love the pickles too. The fries are good also. So I had the regular mooyah burger combo and it costs $10. So not bad but I stick with other burger joints. I just wanted to give this place a try.

    (3)
  • Doctor F.

A much better burger than five guys. Grilled to a even crust. Their bread is very good. Toppings great. The staff was extremely good. A young lady kept clearing my table regularly. And she was super courteous. Five Guys started out good here but has declined in quality. All in all, pretty good. A Hoo-yah! for Moo-yah! Beats Five Guys. Slaughters Atomic Burger.

    (3)
  • Michael D.

Fun atmosphere. Very friendly and pleasant staff. I got a cheeseburger with muyah sauce and fries and vanilla shake. All great! Check this place out!!

    (5)
  • Orphan D.

Ok after 5 visits I think we like it. Personally like it better than 5 guys. Try the spicy ranch. Oh and get some extra on the side for the fries. My two boys (that eat like men) like going there after practice. When you go in yell out 1-2-3 or 3-2-1 and the crew has to yell out a response.

    (4)
  • Janie T.

Mooyah definitely satisfied my burger craving. Mooyah has a very simple straightforward menu. I decided to have they're namesake, the Mooyah burger with pepper jack cheese. Yum! The patty was cooked just perfect, not too well-done nor too rare. The bun was interesting wheat bun with oats on top. There's also mushrooms and jalapeños and their Mooyah sauce. Definitely a delicious burger and hit the spot. The place was very roomy and they have this cool chalkboard wall. People were in there watching games and having milkshakes. Oh their milkshakes are very good too. I had the Oreo milkshake and it was how I expect a milkshake to be. Not too melty. Some advice, you could definitely split a small fry between too people if you don't want to eat too much. My sister and I had the regular potatoes fries and they were very good, not too salty. My friend had their sweet potatoes fries with cinnamon seasoning. I loved that more! Great service! Definitely will be back

    (5)
  • Isaac F.

Excellent service. I highly recommend for a good quality burger and fries! The recent grand opening week saw workers hustling to meet the needs of all the customers, even offering to bring a drink refill directly to me. The burger was well cooked and a real tasty mouthful. The sweet potato fries came out freshly cooked and with very savory spicing. I plan on going again soon!

    (5)
  • Fred T.

TOO LOUD. The food is good, but it still remains obnoxiously loud and freezing inside. Not comfortable to eat in.

    (3)
  • Mel L.

Just went for the first time. What a grease trap first bite of my burger grease shot out all over my shirt like a cannon. Spoke to manager she told me it was the lettuce and tomatoes it was water what a crock it's two hours later and the water has not dried yet. My wife ordered sweet potato fries what they failed to disclose is they add sugar to the batter what's the point. No where on the menu does it say cooked in sugar. It reminds me of the bowling alley hamburgers grease pit one and only visit for me save your money much better places everywhere else.

    Fantastic burger and great service!

Nice dining experience, similar to 5 guys but they have shakes and sweet potato fries. Parking lot is small though

Great burger, handcut fries, and great prices. Check this place out. Quick and delicious!!!

Great service, very friendly staff. Clean. Fries were good. Hamburger just ok. Shake just ok. Chaulk boards is a cute idea for little kids.

I liked this place the beef taste like beef. I love a burger that taste like it's homecooked. Shakes are thick and delicious. Service is quick too

    (4)
  • Darla R.

This was our second visit, but definitely not our last. A bit pricey, but so worth it. My husband and I had juicy well-seasoned bacon cheeseburgers on fluffy buns, crispy hand-cut fries, and creamy, rich chocolate shakes. What's not to love? The staff is friendly and attentive as well.
