I have been here 2 times, and both experience are pretty good. I like their fried catfish and fried chicken. They are both very fresh. The service is actually very good for a buffet restaurant. They always make sure we have our drinks filled and they are super friendly to children.

Very nice place. Plenty of seats. The food was real food. Not a wide range of food but what they did have all went well together. The sweet tea was very good. All and all it was a very good meal at a reasonable price.

Good service, steady food, overall not a bad place to go. The menu items change a bit daily for variety sake. My 1 yr old girl eats a lot of the food. Never really had a complaint. Just solid food, decent price, good service. Not 5 star but certainly not 3 star, just right in between.

The food was decent, and the wait staff nice enough, but only come here if you want a heapin serving of Jesus with your meal. There is religious paraphernalia all over the place, including on your bill when you get it. There is a sign that says 'no tank tops allowed', in a city that gets up to 100 degrees with 100% humidity, too. I think they are trying to keep the black people from the neighborhood out of the joint since they constantly wear white tank tops.

Holy deliciousness. Let me repeat that... HOLY DELICIOUSNESS. This place is amazing. It's $9.49 for lunch on weekends, and let me tell you, it was well worth it. It was great. They had a ton of different options. They had fried chicken, green beans, oysters, pasta, salad, shrimp and grits, bread pudding.... All the greats of New Orleans. It's a buffet, so there is a ton of food. And I guess 10 bucks sounds kinda pricey, but to be honest, it's not too bad in a tourist city. I mean, a lot po boys here cost more than that. This food is not just a great deal for the money, it's a great deal for any amount of money. Holy deliciousness...... This place rocks.

I always thought it was a seafood restaurant so I had never been, since I am allergic to seafood. Decided to check it out tonight. Yes, it is mostly seafood but there are other things on the bar. I had a salad, a piece of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, corn and red beans. (I pigged out.) All were so good and the sweet tea was awesome. The employees were very nice and the waitress was on top of things. We will definitely be back.

The baked fish is to die for. The catfish wow! The carrot soufflés WOW! Friendly service, amazing taste, authentic New Orleans food. This place is a hidden gem. Why go downtown to fight for parking to taste New Orleans style food cooked for tourist? You can come here, park right outside, and be eating within minutes of walking in. Food cooked for new Orleans people by New Orleans people. Love it

I've been here a few times. The food is great. I would consider it more of "soul food" than Louisiana style cajun food. It is a buffet that is reasonably priced. The fried chicken is excellent. I don't come often just because the food is definitely good but not good for you. I do like that you can get a couple veggie sides to go with all the fried and rich food and there is a small salad bar. The wait staff are friendly, welcoming and make you feel like family. I would consider this a place everyone should come at least once.

Extremely average food... $11- or so for lunch, filled with just a bunch of average dishes. .Would never drive extra 2-3 miles to come here.Maybe would come back, not expecting much....

I love this place. Not the best food I've ever had, but it's my lunch spot. It's a nice size, friendly staff, some of the food is Excellent and that makes it worth it.

This place is amazing. South Louisiana dishes just like your family makes. Been eating here for years and have never been disappointed.

I went for lunch last week and that was the first time in a very long time! Unfortunately, it was pretty much how I remembered it... Just ok! If you wNt to eat a ton of food (which I am certainly not against) then this is your place! Lots of food, but not a whole lot of flavor.. Fried fish is probably the best bet bc it's kind of hard to mess up, but when this lady sits down for unlimited food, she wants some soul in it!!

The food is really good, waitresses were re filling our drinks before it was empty! They kept refreshing the food! Nice experience, would definitely recommend this place

Say what? A Cajun buffet? Yessir, This was a first for me too. Is it the finest cuisine that the N.O. area has to offer? Probably not, but Louisiana Purchase Kitchen offers a great assortment of home-style Louisiana cajun and creole selections such as Gumbo, Boudin, red beans and rice, étouffée, fried chicken, fried okra and the list goes on. All in great abundance and all you can eat. The best part is, that it's reasonably priced and there's plenty of parking space. Just be sure to leave a little room at the end of your meal for their homemade bread pudding with brandy sauce. It's a sinfully delicious lagniappe and well worth saving room for. The next time I'm back in Kenner, you can bet that I'll stop by LPK again. "Life's too short for bland food, bad wine, weak coffee or cheap whiskey." RS

Nothing special here, have had better in the area. Service was good and is clean. I don't think there is enough variety for the price.

2nd time here at the Louisiana Purchase. Fried chicken, fresh catfish, white beans with sausage, cabbage, spinach dip, the best Mac & cheese! Cornbread and sweet tea. OH MY! I love this place!

This is a great stop especially if you are picking someone up at the airport and they are hungry. All you can eat featuring all New Orleans' specialties: gumbo, etouffee, bread pudding, etc. I probably would go more often if I lived closer!

Decent food... lots of "local" options like Gumbo, red beans, catfish, fried chicken, etc. If you are actually a local, you may want to grab a bottle of Louisiana hot sauce and keep it nearby. Most of the flavors were correct, but definitely lacking that kick that you would expect from Louisiana food. Definitely go for the catfish, and save room for the bread pudding with brandy sauce. It's the bread pudding that made me go with 3 stars instead of 2. Our picky almost-2-year-old ate everything that we fed her. I had a nice, filling lunch, as did the fiance. For a buffet, it's definitely better than Golden Corrall or Ryan's. However, it's a buffet - not fine dining by any means. It's good for a quick, cheap lunch option in Metry, especially if you have a hungry, demanding toddler.

As much as I visit the Dress Barn right behind this place I absolutely never noticed this place. It absolutely a wonderful Buffet. Im definitely not too good for buffet and love this place. The Bread Pudding with Brandy Sauce is worth visiting alone, that sauce is so creamy and sweet its just everything that has ever been right in the world. The fried and baked catfish is so fluffy and I just love it. They have a little of everything you could possibly want at this location. Matter fact the Shrimp Creole is even good. I once went on a friday night and they also had BBQ shrimp that was tasty. Friendly staff as well.

What happened Louisiana purchase kitchen was one of my favorite places to go. I don't know if my taste has changed or they changed there recipes. I use to work a couple blocks away and this was my first choice for lunch shoot even dinner. I started a new job on the other side of the city and I haven't been here in a long time. So as I went to the line, I grabbed cornbread, fried chicken, crab cakes, fried fish, potatoes, etc.. At first the Fried chicken was really freaking good, but then it got stupid salty. It got to the point I stop eating the chicken from the salt level. The Fried fish was ok but it didn't have much flavor. The crab cakes were ok, but had way to much filler and you could tell they were frozen store bought. The potatoes had a certain flavor that over powered and turned me off to them. My wife got the Shrimp Etufee and the Gumbo and sworn they tasted the same and lack of flavor. I tried a little bit of bread pudding, that was pretty good. It will be a very long time before I go back

This restaurant offers food that you'd find in someones mother's kitchen. The wait staff is excellent and the owner is friendly and pleasant. Although the buffet is limited, appx 10 -12 dish areas, the quality, temperature and selection of the food is just right. Cost is not a major factor. I could eat this food every day as it's not too highly seasoned, but just right. The cabbage is wonderful, cornbread scrumptious & the bread pudding is "finger licking" good (literally).

Love lpk. Best creole/cajun buffet around. Price can't be beat; great service and think their fried chicken is some of the best in the city, and I'm obsessed with that carrot souffle. Still trying to figure out the recipe. Did I mention they do HOMEMADE mac and cheese?! But their veggie sides will be the canned kind. But I wish they had a bigger variety for dessert. They only have bread pudding and it's hit or miss. When it's good, it's amazing! But when it's bad....you get crunchy sugary water on top. And yes, it is as gross as that sounds.

The decor is friendly and unpretentious, except for the obnoxious bible quotes stuck here and there on the walls (is it really necessary to advertise your personal superstitious ideology in a public place of business? Do I need to be reminded that Jesus died for my sins.. "Oooh look, Shrimp etouffe!" Hey isn't it an "abomination" according to the bible to eat shellfish?) Beyond that, this is one of my favorite places to eat, and since I have not been struck by lightning for my heresy, I will continue to patronize this place. Their food is fresh and inviting, the menu is classic comfort food with lots of New Orleans favorites, and every time I've visited, which is at least more than a dozen times, there has been different items on the menu. My only complaint is that I wish they had red onions at the salad bar. There are too many really good things to list and pointing out something specific would do a disservice to the fact that just about everything there isn't just "like ya mama made" but sometimes better.

This place has been around for a long time, originally being in the mall and later moving to its own location in the parking lot of the mall between Metairie and Kenner right off Vets. It's right next to O'Henry's but light years better and I've found a lot of people don't know about this place. My attitude towards buffets is not that I want to eat a lot of food, but I want choices and I like the idea of seeing what I can put on my plate. LP has a really wonderful array of classic home-cookin' cajun and creole dishes. They're sometimes a bit under-spiced, but that's probably to appeal to the older demographic that tends to frequent this place. Better safe than sorry, but you'll find all the staples of Louisiana-style comfort food here. If you're on a carb-free diet, well, I wouldn't even drive to close the place. This is not the place to go if you're looking to lose weight and have a light lunch. If you need to put on a few pounds (or twenty) then step right up and enjoy that it a delicious fashion. Great service. Friendly people. Great food, and a really nice variety. Many buffets put out the same stuff each day. LP mixes it up. Every time I take someone here, they cringe at the thought of a buffet but the food convinces them otherwise.

Dog food! Only way I can describe it. I have never had food so bland and unseasoned. The jambalaya had absolutely no meat and was all rice. No catfish or chicken on the buffet. The place was absolutely filthy and the bathroom smelled like a busted sewer pipe. We watched a Sysco truck pull up as we were leaving. You can bet the food was heated and dumped into a buffet table.

This used to be a four star place before Katrina and one of my favorite places to sneak off to eat. Unfortunately with each move they make they seem to go down in quality. Their Friday and Saturday buffets used to be AMAZING with some really great food. I'm not sure if there was a change of ownership or what but the food quality along with the care and pride that used to be evident in the food just doesn't seem to be there anymore. Some of the dishes they used to always have are no longer present and the ones they still do just seem to use lesser quality seafood and meat than before. It is still an ok place to go but I don't really go anymore as I'm so very deeply disappointed in how far they have let things slip from how great it used to be. They still have an awesome bread pudding with an excellent brandy sauce... perhaps my favorite of all time! I so very much hope and dream they will get back to what they were but I haven't seen any evidence of that on my sporadic visits back over the years since Katrina.

Meh. All you can eat buffet. Not terrible, but not that good either, except the carrot soufflé, that was VERY good. But, then you have the shrimp that were way overcooked, sitting in notbutter for who knows how long. Bread rolls, very good, baked fish, not so good. Red beans and rice, good.... and so on and on

Not bad as far as a buffet goes. Not much of a selection, but it was a fair price for a mediocre place. I probably won't go back.

Went in not knowing it is buffet style and found the food bland. The fried chicken was decent. There wasn't as many items as all other buffets I've been to and the salad bar was skimpy. Probably won't be going back.

I eat here at lunch as a treat on weekdays while working at the airport. Fast buffet. Great selection of traditional Cajun. $8.59 and that bread pudding with brandy sauce! Yummy. Plenty of free parking, even for a semi truck.

I took the family there last weekend and it was decent. There were abourt a dozen standard local dishes served on a buffet to include fried chicken, fired catfish, stuffed peppers, salisbury steak, and eggplant dressing. Quality was ok, not spectacular, more or less a Golden Corale with local offerings. Service was fine, not great, not bad. Don't take the three stars as a bad review, its a-ok, not great.

Really good buffet. Great fried chicken, a little of everything from the south. I'm not much for soup but their corn/shrimp bisque was fantastic!

Everything on the buffet at Louisiana Purchase Kitchen is always very flavorful and tasty. You cant beat the price. BBQ shrimp is very good. They change the dishes up daily so if you go more then once go on different days. Sometimes i wish they had a few extra items but i always leave with a full belly. Price with drink and tip is right over $10 for lunch and i think about $2-3 more for dinner.

After reading the Yelp reviews, I figured I'd give this restaurant a try on a Saturday around 1:00pm. The food was not fresh, and the hot sauce was old and brown. I can't believe that people think this is "good" local food. Basically, it's about equal to a Shoney's buffet, except with more cajun/southern style food, but the quality is poor. And even though the place was almost full, they were slow to bring out fresh food. I would definitely not suggest this place to anyone.

After a night spent bopping heads at a swank jazz club downtown (Sweet Lorraine's), and a handwritten list of places to try for brunch provided by the hostess, we settled on LPK as the place to try, mostly because of the name. We arrived at 10:45 to find that it didn't open til 11:00. Attempting to pass the time by hitting up one of the drive through daiquiri stands, we were relieved to discover that they were not open til noon. Way to have some class, New Orleans. 11:00 clicked in, the front door was unlocked, and we were the first into the empty restaurant. Payment was simple, prix-fixe settled before you approached the buffet. The initial buffet browse was promising, everything looked good except for the paltry chopped salad. I wasn't worried, because who goes to a creole brunch buffet looking for a nice fresh salad? I dished myself a sampler platter and tucked in. My smile grew with every bite. Crab and Corn chowder was a perfect balance of cream and salt, while creole shrimp had just enough kick to compliment the rice they were spooned over. The fried chicken was amazing - my friend bequeathed it the honor of 'best ever,' and lit a slow burn on the back of your tongue after the first few bites. White beans and sausage were perfectly cooked and richly flavored. My personal favorite was the carrot souffle, which I quickly realized was maybe an eighth carrot. The other 87% was flour, sugar, and eggs. It tasted like a fluffy sweet potato pie with a vegetal finish. Desserty, but not as desserty as the bread pudding with a vanilla brandy sauce. I ate til I couldn't move, and then had a last plateful. Go there.

You have to get the fried catfish. The macaroni and cheese are just ok.

This place is fast and the food is very good. It is the best Buffett by the airport. I would give it 4.5 stars.
