I just was really turned off by the ambiance and the menu really seemed overpriced especially for the fish entrees. Things started bad when they were out of the first thing I ordered. I then got a turtle soup and burger. The turtle soup was actually good but I was never offered any Sherry so what's the point at that point so that was just an epic fail. The burger was not up to par and especially for the amount they charged ($15) as it really didn't have much flavor and it lacked on all levels. The shoestring fries served with the burger did not please me. The service was inadequate as it took far too long to get drink refills. So for around the same price as a fantastic lunch at Commander's Palace or Mandina's I got a mediocre burger and turtle soup with no Sherry offered with it. So many better burgers in NOLA I can't see ever getting another burger here and I just don't think this is making my rotation or even worthy of a return visit.

Came here looking for something different and I found it. Almost everywhere tries to make you feel welcome and greets you with a smile... Right?? But Legacy Kitchen does it with a attitude that can't be described in any Yelp! review. Love the atmosphere, the lighting, tables, everything.... Cassie (my server) welcomed me and asked what I'd like to drink and she seemed genuinely happy to be there to help me. I got iced tee (which she kept on top of to be sure I was never thirsty, I can go thru some tea!) then she recommended the softshell crab blt... Which I desperately wanted to order... Love softshell crab... But... Alas I am trying to eat better so I ordered the tuna tango salad. Salad came out well before I expected it... The kitchen is on top of their game. Mangos, spinach, kale, avocados, other greens macadamia nuts, and some crispies on top. The Tuna ... Ohhhh the tuna... was straight from heaven.... sliced, seasoned and seared to PERFECTION... And to that I say - BEST SALAD I'VE EVER EATEN!!! The end... (Drop the mic)

The food is pretty good at Legacy! I haven't had any of their entrees yet, but the burgers and the club sandwich are both very good! I'd also recommend the salmon dip. Huge portions of everything. The cocktails are pretty good too. Legacy would have gotten 4 stars, except for two things. First of all, I feel as though it is a ripoff of Houstons. The head chef is Houstons alumni, and many things (salmon dip, ribs, burgers, etc.) seem to be variations of selections from Houstons. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, until you consider the second point, and that's price. It's about the same price point as Houstons, except the service and atmosphere do not feel quite as upscale. They do, however, use quality ingredients. If the prices dropped a little bit, it would be a great spot, but for what they charge, there are tons of other restaurants out there that offer better food.

I don't often dine in Metairie so I'm not necessarily up on all the latest and greatest out there. But I was pleasantly surprised by Legacy on my first visit. It's pretty much traditional, American food -- burgers, salads, some comfort food items (ribs, chicken and waffles), stuff like that. Our group started off with the blue cheese chips, which were awesome. Handmade kettle chips doused in a blue cheese and truffle sauce. Even though I'm not really a truffle fan, I liked these a lot. The truffle flavor wasn't terribly overpowering, which is usually my issue with it. We also had the salmon dip, which was very good too. Kind of like a "lox spread" that you'd get at a bagel shop in New York. For my main course I went with the ribs. That's not something I get very often but it was speaking to me that day. They brought me out a whole rack of ribs, which were really good. The meat came right off the bones and the BBQ sauce was sticky and sweet. The shoestring fries on the side were also really good. For dessert the table shared the lemon icebox pie. That's not really my thing either but I enjoyed a couple of bites. Very refreshing on a hot summer night. My drink was also refreshing, though it didn't really taste like it had any alcohol in it. It was a peach lemonade thing with vodka. Yum. Finally, the group I was with are apparently regulars and are friendly with the owners, so they came out and said hello. Everyone was very nice and gracious. Our waitress was also very good. No complaints at all on the service. And I can't really comment on the price because I was a guest and didn't see the bill. I'll definitely keep Legacy in mind if I need a nice meal in Metairie again.

Delicious food and service was very attentive. Duck nachos, turtle soup and soft shell crab BLT were big hits with our group.

FRIED CHICKEN TO SUFFER 4 ? When I reviewed the photos taken by other Yelpers, it was all about fried chciken and waffles... but we don't want to eat waffles during the evenings. So, we opted for the Fried Chicken plus 2 meaning two sides of our choice included. If you order a premium side, there is an nominal upcharge of $2.00. You essentially are served a half fried chicken. Selected the cottage hash browns (no upcharge) and crawfish casserole ($2 upcharge). Cut into equal halves we shared the quarter head wedge salad. Honestly, that salad could have been our dinner. The fried half of chicken was piping hot, moist, batter was dense but light crispy and Cajun spicy and good sized pieces... not canary sized where you have to eat the bones. No Tabasco or Crystal shake juice needed for Yu-go. Service was both polite and a test of patience, on occassion belligerently forgetful. Could be all the walking the waitstaff must endure. Tall cathedral ceiling doesn't render any relief to the excessive chatter noise which is personally bothersome. Can't imagine what it would be like if the restaurant was at full capacity. Getting back to the fried chicken, we rank it right there amongst the best.

Definitely the best veggie burger I have had since returning from Hawaii!! I enjoyed my burger with a skinny margarita! What a wonderful lunch! The service was good.

I believe I became ambidextrous because of this place. Seriously, I learned how to destroy a plate with both hands, eloquently might I add. This spot was in my bookmarks less than 48 hours before I stopped in. I had a hunch about it and didn't want to wait too long before I paid them a visit. Luckily, i had an errand to run in Metairie and hadn't eaten yet by the time I was done. Very nice decor upon entry, i noticed the bar was empty and whenever I'm grubbing solo, a bar spot is one I quickly commandeer. Some force of inner lush ordered a gin and tonic without me even noticing, accompanied with what had to be the best decision of the day, the roasted chicken with black beans, rice and avocado. I remembered the look on the bartender's face when I was done with my plate (in record time), she was in awe, and I'm just like, 'yeah, it was OK'. it was much, much more than that, she was impressed. I also ordered a pineapple mojito for no reason at all, but it was worth it. Added a nice touch to the whole thing. Some people are weird about drinking 'hard liqour' with their meals, me, not so much. I was so torn over what to order as I glazed over the menu, I'll definitely be back to try the chicken and waffles because all the pictures and what I saw coming out of the kitchen looked way too good to not give it a shot.

This was/is a really cool place! I came with a large group one night late for dinner. The waiter was super friendly and personable. He gave us some great recommendations. I split the Baby Back Ribs, because I wasn't very hungry. Plus, the whole rack is a lot of food for one person. They were really good. The sauce on them was very tasty, and the meat itself was very tender. My friends had the Chicken and waffle plate and the grilled salmon. Everyone was happy with their meals. I also enjoyed my cocktail. It was some type of blueberry Moscow mule. It was the special for that nightl. I've never had one quite like that, but it was really good.

Not a bad lunch spot. I have only had sandwiches here, and liked what I had and tasted from friends. Last time I had a Legacy Burger and my lovely dining companion had a fried chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich was above average as was the burger though there are better burgers in NOLA. The fries were good. Not sure what is so angry about the pickles on my friends plate but we liked it. Before that I had the Monterey Turkey which was totally average, nothing you can't make at home. Prices are about what you'd expect, not a value but not overpriced. The space is decent, rather Metairie looking, but clean and kinda chic for this part of town. Service is fine though they do try to sell you an appetizer which always annoys me. Def a place I wouldn't object to trying again.

We are out of towners and this was place was great! The service was lovely and quick. We had the spinach artichoke dip and chicken and waffle plate as well as splitting a side of fries. Everything was well presented and brought out in a timely manner. My only complaint is that their salsa tastes canned but other then that everything was great! Highly recommended.

Legacy Kitchen is a cool spot. Sometimes I forget it's there. When I'm out and about in Metairie, it's nice to stop at a restaurant on Vets I haven't visited a million times. The food is pretty good: My favorites are the Chinatown Firecracker Shrimp, the Smoked Salmon Dip, and the Lobster Roll. It contains claw meat, but it's not the rubbery tip of the claw so the meat is still good. The few times I've visited, my services was always fast and the waitresses were always very attentive.

After eating here, I left this restaurant very unenthused. Several of my friends warned me not to waste my time but being the stubborn food snob that I am, I wanted to try it for myself. We started off with the salmon dip which was very tasty. I would definitely order it again. I ordered the kale salad with pulled chicken and my husband ordered the infamous chicken and waffle which came highly recommended. Salad like previous reviews stated was drenched in dressing and very unimpressive. Fried chicken tenders were delicious, but the waffle was not up to par nor was it worth the money. Although it was stuffed with delicious bacon pieces, it lacked something (I still haven't quite figured out what) and crumbled apart like a cookie. Overall prices are way too high for the quality and portion sizes. Will not be back anytime soon.

I had been wanting to try Legacy Kitchen since they opened, but don't find myself often out in Metairie when looking for a place to eat often, but since I was meeting someone from the Northshore and I live in MidCity, Legacy Kitchen was the perfect in-between! Legacy Kitchen is in the parking lot with Gordon's and Big Lots, so ample parking, an elusive amenity at many Uptown/CBD/French Quarter restaurants. First off, super clean. Lots of different types of seating from deli-style bar, higher tables, booths, and regular tables. I like the menu design (branding geek alert!) very deli ticket, typewriter-esque. We ordered the Cajun Queso, and I was stuck between the Tuna Tango Salad (more healthy choice) or the Southern Georgia Chicken Sandwich*. I couldn't tell you the last time I had fried chicken, and I wanted to put them to the test. The Cajun Queso with smoked tasso ham came out with ample chips. Points for that because I hate running out of chips in the middle of my queso. It wasn't the spiciest, so if it had been just me, I might've hit it with some hot sauce, but I did really enjoy the fresh cuts of red pepper mixed in. My sandwich came out, and it was big enough that I cut it in two to make it manageable. Not sure why the pickles are called "angry pickles"...they weren't the angriest I've ever met, and they came on the side. I plopped all those puppies on the sandwich and dug in. Usually I like my chicken DOUSED in ranch. Hey, if you're going big, go big! The chicken was good enough without a heavy hand of ranch. This was probably the best fried chicken I've ever had. I'm not a connoisseur but it was super moist and flavorful on the inside without having to rely on the crispy outer skin to make it delicious. Though I originally thought the Tuna Tango would be a lot healthier, I think this fried chicken wasn't as less healthy as I thought it'd be. The slaw was a great edition as well, though I was so focused on the chicken, it was second fiddle to my tastebuds. Daniel was our waiter, and he was extremely attentive and everyone else was very pleasant, so kudos to your staff. I will definitely be back to try the Tuna Tango, and get my hands on that Bacon Bloody Mary. *Southern Georgia Chicken Sandwich: fried chicken, ranch, vidalia onion slaw, angry pickles and kettle chips.

Food is ok. I ate there 3-4 times already just because it's so close to home. Price is too high for what it is. Place is nice but it is way too loud in there. Talk about people's voice echoing. I can't even hear the person sitting across from me.

Red fish was amazing witv cornbread casserole. Chicken and waffels were also very good. Make sure to check out the cocktails and try the icebox cake for dessert. Urban decor and friendly, attentive service ... you can't go wrong.

Just came to this place with a group from work...definitely not my choice. I ordered a cheeseburger because I didn't see anything else appealing in the menu...I mean...a freaking cheeseburger...with no freaking taste...and a freaking high price...everything is high price for the quality...would never come back.

Atmosphere - warm and inviting. Stopped in after a tennis match on the south shore. We were still in tennis attire looking for quick bit to eat decided to stop here. We were welcomed openly. Restaurant - very clean and neat. Well designed where you are not sitting on top of the party at the next table. Staff - very courteous and professional. Service - excellent. Professional wait staff and very well trained. We were sat promptly and had something to drink at the table within 5 min. Our waitress was outstanding. Very attentive without being intrusive. Apps were brought with in 15 min. Entree when we were finished. Nothing rushed or late. Perfect timing through out. Food - excellent. Perfectly cooked to order and hot. Did not appear to sit on the line for very long. I am looking forward to going back to try other menu items.

Great food and even better service. My family and I came here for Mother's Day and were really impressed that a place in Metairie could exceed our greatest expectations but Legacy kitchen did so. The food was delicious. My father and grandfather ordered the Crabcake Spaghetti and Meatballs and my mother ordered the Softshell Crab BLT. I never thought a BLT could be so tasty. I wasn't able to decide between the bbq shrimp or the roasted chicken so our waitress said she would suprise me. She brought out the roasted chicken and I was very pleased with it. My only suggestion would be to serve the chicken in a flat plate and not a bowl. The service was beyond exceptional. All of the staff were constantly moving and working as a team. The most attentive waitstaff I've ever seen. Multiple servers came up to us with refills or asked if we needed a Togo box. The bartender came up and helped take away dishes, introduced himself, and invited us back for some drinks. It's a little pricey but completely worth it with the great decor, delicious food, and exceptional well managed staff. Kudos to you Legacy Kitchen.

Those that know me know that my weakness is buffalo sauce. This should not be confused with a love for buffalo wings, but really just the sauce. I enjoy a good spicy kick and find it very satisfying when done well. The buffalo salad at Legacy is hands down the best buffalo anything. Its great because its not super spicy so those with a low spice tolerance could easily enjoy this salad. The sauce has a hint of sweetness which offers a great balance, which is why I think it works so well. Another salad I love is the ahi tuna salad. The tuna was super fresh and served rare so it almost melts in your mouth. So good! Our server was very helpful and accommodating to special requests. The drinks were average, I ordered one, but did not feel especially inclined to order a second. My only issue was I felt the prices were slightly higher when compared to similar restaurants, but, nonetheless, you will get quality food and service.

Steaks have a bloody non flavor taste ,had to send back for a little more flame still 30$ ribeye flavorless, shame, my girlfriends filet a little better but not flavorful lve heard good things about them but was disappointed mislead and paid way to much for amount of food that we got. Just because the surroundings were very nice doesnt mean you should except mediocca food for a high grade price Feeling screwed rite now But i will say service was 1st class

I've been all over the map eating chicken and waffles from more famous establishments. Legacy has them beat. Seriously. Adding bacon to the waffle mix was pure culinary genius. The bacon wrapped fries shrimp skewers are also another great choice. The service is all great and the wait is never long.

Good food and a varied menu. The bar is a good set up and the original drinks are well conceived and executed. The food is a little pricey for Metairie; however, the portions are good and the quality of the food is on par with the pricing. The service is excellent and professional. This is a good place for lunch or dinner with coworkers or to take your friends from out of town who don't want to go downtown.

First thing right off the bat, exceptional service. Our server Talisha was wonderful and absolutely on point. The food was wonderful. Flavor and zest and originality. Their craft cocktails were unique and refreshing. I love a good Moscow mule and I was not disappointed.

Really like this place!! It's new, clean, and way better than the Shoney's that was there. It reminds me of like a Copeland's but the menu is slightly different in a good way. Our waitress knew what she was doing which is always great! As soon as our drinks were low, there was a new one. Fun place!

2nd time here and no disappointments!! Took my bf here for his bday and he now says this is our new to go spot! Drinks are good. Staffs are well-trained. My bf got the rib eye steak with fries, couldn't be cook any better!! Well flavored and just right! Portion a good size as well. I got the double pork chops with mushrooms and onions! Good lord best pork chop I had yet and the flavors was spot on!!! We also got the fudge chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream for his birthday,it is to die for! So moist and soft and freshly hot! Love this place!

  • Jeanie M.

I love this place! The food was fantastic! I recommend the Buffalo Chicken Salad and the Chocolate Bread Pudding (yes--chocolate and bread pudding together!). Drinks were refilled, as needed, for the most part. The place is pretty popular...packed, in fact, when I got there. There is additional seating at the counter/bar. The restaurant is nice enough for dates and casual enough for families with children. Further, there were kids there, and they seemed to enjoy their food. Staff were helpful. However, after the bill was paid, dessert was served. Unfortunately, tip was paid too, which may have contributed to the fact that refills and assistance stopped. Sooooo...I kinda left thirsty after dessert. :(

It's in Metairie, closer to Lakeview side. Right by NO Hamburger&Seafood Company...actually owned by New Orleans Hamburger & Seafood Co. We've been about 4 times this past year. Pretty new. Doesn't look nice on the outside, but pretty nice on the inside, with light and dark colored woods. Think "New American,New Orleans cuisine". Good gumbo and their Caesar salad has kale in it. Even the hamburger is good. I really like the cornbread hash dressing side. Everything we've had has always been pretty good. :) ps, good specialty cocktails.

Not a bad choice if you happen to be in Metairie, but I wouldn't make a special trip. The setting is as chic as it can be, in a space that looks like a former Red Lobster location. I went with the chicken and waffles. I've tried this combo before out west, where it's a little more common. Pretty good waffle with chicken tenders atop, but not worth $17. One of my dining guests had the burger. Here again, a decent burger, but you can get better at a more reasonable price.

For the amount of food you get, this place is very expensive. The food isn't that great, mediocre at best but you're charged like its a five star restaurant.

    (2)
  • John S.

The food was delicious. Full of rich flavor. I had their version of the mushroom Swiss burger with pepper jack cheese instead. I also ordered a side of the crawfish cornbread dressing. It would have been a full five stars, but the wait to get seated lasted too long. There were periods of time where empty tables lingered with patrons waiting to be seated. The staff was also very nice and welcoming.

I have been wanting to go here for awhile. We finally made it for Valentine's dinner. The ambiance of the place is really nice. It's a big step up from it previously being a Shoney's. It kind of reminded me of being by the beach in Cape Cod or something. It had that kind of decor. The food was excellent all around. It was hard deciding what to get because it all sounded good. My boyfriend and I decided to split the Legacy Kitchen burger and the bbq ribs. Both entrees were top notch. We had the shoestring fries and crawfish cornbread casserole as our sides. That casserole was delish! We were pretty stuffed after, as the portions are large. I took the rest of mine home for lunch the next day. We also ordered a piece of the lemon icebox pie to go. It was awesome as well. Our only complaints were that our drinks were never refilled. I had ordered a lemonade. It was $4.00, which I found to be a bit much for a small glass of lemonade. Other than that, the service was quite good. I definitely look forward to coming back here again.

Really good food, fun and inventive cocktails! Eaten here 3 times now in the last 5 months. (a lot for me being on a college budget) and have been satisfied to impressed each time. Recs; Tuna Dip App, Chix & Waffles, Chix Sandwich. All great choices, oh and the Blue Cheese Chips. They make it with tons of flavor, but definitely not over-kill like many other places.

Had the waffles and chicken for dinner, personally, I think it's overpriced at $17.00. Would definitely go back and try other items from their menu.

We had a very good meal here. The BBQ shrimp was delicious. The daily special was a drum, also good. We ordered the blue cheese nachos on the recommendation of so many previous reviews. They were just okay for us. I will try to return to try the chicken and waffles Really cool nice but casual restaurant. . Definitely recommend if you are looking for some New Orleans food without the tourists and long waits.

Had the pleasure of visiting Legacy this past weekend for Grand Opening. Food styles include: American (New) Burgers Cajun/Creole Sandwiches Seafood Soul Food Southern Sat at the bar, which faces the kitchen. Very nice architeture to really add an unconventional ambiance. I enjoyed my 'waiter recommended' classic cocktail for drink. Wanted to eat light, so I ordered the salmon dip (very appetizing) and Legacy salad. Both were excellent choices. Quick snippet of foodie photos here: legacykitchen.com I highly recommend Legacy if you are looking for great service, food and a new dining experience.

It is so nice having a place like this in Metairie! This New American restaurant has a great atmosphere and great food. The decor branches out from the standard cajun restaurant in this area and offers something a little more unique that you may find in the city. The servers were very friendly and knowledgable about the restaurant and the menu. Our entrees were very good and the ribeye was cooked rare (actually rare!!). The menu offers a strong salad and sandwich selection as well. Order the creamed spinach as an appetizer with chips, its totally the way to go. I have to say the highlight for me was the lemon ice box pie. Be warned, this serving is literally the size of an entire pie! But it is soooooo good and it comes with homemade whipped cream on top. Yum!!!

  • Kris A.

I give props where props are due. The atmosphere is warm sophisticated and welcoming. The employees are smiling, helpful and friendly. The drink and dinner menus are well thought out. The drink menu contained a satisfying variety of options. The dinner menu also has a nice variety of choices appealling to the masses. The quality of food was good as well. They automatically divided the appetizers on the separate checks so no one was stuck paying for something we all shared. They have a winning combination that many restaurants take years to achieve and some never do. We were a table of 7 and the majority agreed on a few minor tweaks that could be made: the duck chili was hearty and tasty but the portion was easily enough for 2. ( The person eating it was a hungry 6 ft 220 lb man fyi ) At $18 for a bowl of chili, it may be better for the restaurant and patron if offered at $13 in a smaller portion. The prices were slightly too high. $6 for draft beer, $8 kids grilled cheese, etc may keep the middle class suburbanites from returning. But like I said before, if these are the only negatives then they are ahead of the game as a new kid on the block. Overall, its apparent the owners are well rehearsed in the industry and it refreshingly shows.

Wow is all I can say! I have been wanting to try this place out for awhile now and my man friend and I finally did! First of all, the place is really cool and cozy- nicely decorated and a very cool vibe!! But, let's get to the main thing.. The food!! We started with some pineapple mojitos- Yum!! For an app, we had the blue chips- kettle chips with this amazing blue cheese dressing/sauce! I will be dreaming of those chips tonight.. Yes, they are THAT good! Onto the entrees.. I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp.. They had remoulade slaw and perfectly fried shoestring fries!!! My man had the Tuna Tango salad.. Sushi grade seared tuna with a perfect mix of greens.. I ate mine, some of his, and neither had a chance!!! There were so many things I wanted to try, but even a girl my size couldn't do it all in one visit, but like the terminator says.. "I'll be back!" Service was awesome... This place is a must visit.. We each had cocktails, app, and 2 awesome entrees and only spent 74 bucks!!!

Great burgers, nice atmosphere, good service, and I can't believe I just ate on Veterans. First off I rarely comment on service but they were really friendly and on point. Second, I love the trendier atmosphere with candles everywhere, something different than the old school vibe of the New Orleans restaurants. You know when a burger is so good you start taking smaller bites so it lasts forever? Me neither. I think I inhaled it and either impressed my friend or totally freaked her out. The bbq bacon burger is a gem to be put on the "must eat again" list. The thick bacon and handmade poppy seed bun were the perfect jacket for the juicy burger, gasp. The shoestring potatoes have that balance of crispy, salty, naughtiness that we love in a fry. I was terribly jealous of the people eating the gigantic desserts because for the first time in my life I couldn't eat one more thing.

I've gone twice in the last 3 weeks and unfortunately I can only rate it 2 stars. It's not that anything was particularly bad, it's just everything was just mediocre. Fish tacos tasted much too fishy (oxymoron I know, but you know what I mean), Crab and corn bisque had bits of shell, the BBQ shrimp came with rice...RICE...but it was decent. Nothing overwhelming other than the prices. You just do not get what you pay.

This place was really, really great. My server, Cassie, was great. She was enthusiastic and very friendly. The ambiance of the restaurant was also nice but it feels like it's catered toward a more higher end clientele. It's not really a neighborhood joint that i'd frequent for lunch. The food was great however it was a little pricey which is why I probably wouldn't frequent it but i'll definitely be back . There were so many interesting things on the menu that I really just have to try and their cocktail list was also pretty intriguing. I went here with the chicken and waffles on my mind and they more than delivered. The waffles have bacon in them and it is covered with pepper jelly maple syrup. PEPPER JELLY!! I love pepper jelly and you can really taste it in the dish. It just adds a little somethin' somethin'. My only complaint is that there was too much of it so i'd recommend ordering the syrup on the side. There was like half a cup of syrup on my plate and it made one half of my waffle inedible because it was not only soggy but the waffle was lost in the river of syrup. I said this place was a tad pricey but after tasting the food I definitely didn't mind the price. It was worth the $17 plus tax. I rarely ever have an "OMG THIS IS SO EFFING GOOD" moment but today I did and i'll be back to try the rest of the menu.

Bland, boring uninspired food that could easily be done anywhere. Served in a nice but boring, bland atmosphere that could also be anywhere. Has the look, feel and taste of a boring, bland chain. Did i mention that its just boring, and very bland??

A pleasant surprise and wonderful experience. Our waitress Christy was attentive, sweet, and gave us wonderful service. The food was delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed everything. I would definitely come back and recommend it to all my friends. It surely has a family restaurant feel to it as everyone and their kids were there. Even though there was that atmosphere the noise level was very appropriate and I could hear everything my fiance and I were conversating about without having to raise our voices.

I would like to start off by saying the service was superb. Server was attentive and it's team work with the whole staff. As for the food, zero stars if it was an option. I don't know why this place have good reviews. The price is absurd. My gf and I ordered chicken and waffles $17 and the fish $24. Chicken was good but for $17, we want at least to be full and satisfied. I felt the serving size was off a kids menu. Instead, I got 4 pieces literally 4 inches over waffles. At MOST should not cost over 12! As for the fish, served room temperature (served 5 mins before our chicken and waffles made it to the table). Texture was like rubber and again portion was thin and small! Very dissapointed . Bill was $45. I honestly felt like I was robbed. I'm a local and if Im going to spend $45 on dinner, at least give me a good portion. The pricing is not reflective of food quality and portion. We will not be coming back.

Decor was nice, food had a good presentation. I had the nyc nola sandwich, which was very good. Chips were quite rubbery. My GF had the Victory chicken salad, though it looked good it lacked in taste. The chicken breast was pasty as if it was steamed. The dressing was bland for a rasberry vinegarette, you could say it was just vinegar and oil. Server was very friendly. Overall, not worth the high prices.

Pretty good. Could have used some seasoning on the burger and sandwich. Both were very large and cooked perfectly. Salads were rather small but it was lunch so the portions were appropriate. The best thing was the service. I swear we had 4 service persons just for us. Kept up with drinks and all else.

We absolutely love this place. What a breath of fresh air in Metairie. First off, the service is impeccable. I can't say enough about the wait staff and the outstanding service they provide. If you even glance at a waiter they are right at your table to make sure you don't need anything. All drink refills are done in a new glass. This is a nice touch. The food is wonderful. We've been here twice. Both times I've had the soft shell crab. The second time that I ordered it (tonight) was simply because the first time was so good I didn't feel like trying anything new tonight. My wife had the gulf fish (redfish) our first time there and loved it. Tonight she tried the fried shrimp/bacon which she also loved. My son had the ribs and couldn't stop eating (even though we both knew he was stuffed). In summary - this is a wonderful addition to the normal boring Metairie Veterans Blvd chain restaurant corridor. Don't let their home-style advertising confuse you. It is actually relatively expensive and is not a casual home-style meal. The food is too well prepared to call it that. Be prepared to pay for an outstanding meal and wonderful service. We will definitely go back again.

There were three of us in our party. Sat down right away. Server was nice and informative. I got the grilled tuna salad, delicious and lots of tuna. We also got the cheeseburger. Cooked perfectly and was very tender. I would go defintely go back! Great ambience!

I initially went for breakfast last week (1st time visit) and ended up ordering lunch. The soft-shell crab BLT was a first for me, but very enjoyable. It was too big and I only ate 1/2. The salmon appetizer was the biggest surprise. I'm not sure what they put in it, but it was something I hope to replicate in my kitchen. For the first time, no one in my party had any complaints about any of the food items. Since I'm used to 5-star restaurants, the prices were fine with me for the portion sizes. The restaurant was very clean (I always take notice). And, the wait staff were great. I loved the way they worked together helping each other out. And the manager came to the table asking about our visit. A big thumbs up for this place.

A lot nicer than the old shoney's...I got my first order of chicken and waffles here and it was great. The syrup is like maple and pepper jelly...big hit....a little on the pricy side for lunch, but great food and service.

My meal was tasty. The price of the meal not so great. $17 for chicken and waffles? A waffle, 4 chicken TENDERS, and a tasty sauce. Worth more like $10-$12. And the generic tasting southwest style pasta my boyfriend got that was more than my meal. I understand you have to make a profit but the quailty of ingredients and method of preparation did not warrant the price for either of the dishes. I am by no means a cheap person but I do like to get what I pay for and it missed on that mark. The atomosphere and decor was nice...not what I was expecting and it was a nice setting. But the menu is over priced. I highly doubt we will try it again. Maybe if they rethink their pricing.

Had dinner at Legacy several times. The service was wonderful, but the restaurant is over priced for just comfort food!! Also, unfortunately, most of the menu is fried food overloaded with salt. Wine and drinks are very overpriced

I would give this 3.5 but rounding up to 4 stars. I was pleasantly surprised with this new restaurant. The hostess apologized because our party of 4 would have to wait about 10 minutes. No biggie b/c we could get a drink at the bar. Was a little put off at first when we got up to the bar b/c there is a side section with 4 seats that we were getting ready to sit at, but were quickly told by a not so pleasant woman that we could not sit there to order drinks. Why the hell do you have chairs there then?? But once we moved to the other section of the bar, the male bartender hooked us up with great drinks. I had the porch swing. Nice and refreshing for a hot night. Husband had the bacon maple old fashioned. Now on to the food - LOVE their take on chicken and waffles. Fried chicken tenders over a Belgian waffle that has chunks of cooked bacon right in the batter. Had some kind of pepper jelly sauce that I think complimented the dish. We both had that dish, so can't comment on the other food, but I would try other stuff on their menu. My only concern is I think their price point might be a bit high for the area.

Fabulous meal and perfect service , I am in the food service industry, very picky and demanding and they were dead on. Ribs to die for, salmon cooked perfect. The waitress was one of the best. The only constructive thing I could say is that the manager should have been doing table visits .

All I was craving today was sushi. Then I saw the Tuna Tango on the menu......so I bit like a fish. And I wish I could continue biting on my fork that delivered that amazing salad. It was slightly spicy, perfectly cooked Ahi Tuna slices that encircled a beautiful nest of lettuce, green mangos, macadamia nuts, and tomatoes that sat with the most amazing ginger- lime dressing. I would eat this every single day of my life if I could. Oh, and the shoestrings (the fries) I ate off of someone else's plate, made me order a side of my own. Each little potato strand was crunchy, garlicky (but not too much) and salty. The house made ketchup was the topping to it. Eat here.

Stopped by mid day and were denied because of how my wife and i were dressed. We were dressed casual and comfortable not trashy like the way we were treated. Don't care if this place is good or not, you treat people like this when they walk in your business, I hope you fail.

The cuisine is comfort food, but it's really just the same food you can get at other local places, but with a steeper price. The legacy burger was $15 and I think a Lee's burger tastes better for half the price. The ambience was good, quiet enough to have a great dinner conversation.

Everything we had was fantastic! Best meal we've had in a long time. Blue cheese chips and wedge salad were outta this world. My steak could be cut with a butter knife. Must've been cooked in duck fat. Mmmmmm

Wow, had a quick lunch here today and I can't believe how disappointing this experience was. I ordered the Kale Caesar salad, and it had no discernible kale - it was 99% romaine lettuce and 2% kale (maybe). When I voiced my dissatisfaction to the waitress she argued with me. To make it worse, after our meal the manager came over and argued with me about the salad. I've had this salad in the past and it was all kale. If you change menu item for cost reasons, you need to update your menu description as well.

Don't let its ex-Shoney's status deter you--Legacy Kitchen is a gem. Bookmark it. Try it. The food is delicious, the staff are knowledgeable and provide service which rivals any other fine dining in the city, and the atmosphere feels fancy while still being comfortable. My fiancé is a ceviche snobface, and he goes "Holy crap, this is some good quality fish." And it was! Chicken & Waffles are trending right now, but LK's Chicken & Waffles definitely kick those other ones' butts. Belgian waffle with bacon INSIDE the waffle, plus pepper jelly maple syrup and perfectly crispy fried chicken strips. It was hard to stop eating, even past the point of stuffed. The Club Sandwich is also amazebllz. The multigrain bread really makes it unlike any old club sandwich, and the shoestring fries are perfect. I can't wait to come back here and try everything else. As for that crabby reviewer below who gave 2 stars when she didn't even eat here and only had "a alcoholic tea drink"...you should be ashamed a yaself.

One of the best restaurants I have eaten in in New Orleans. Was pleased with going to a restaurant without a freggin PO boy on the menu. Everything was really fresh and delicious! The service was impeccable. I had the chicken and waffles. Sooo delicious. The duck chili was awesome too. The meat was soo tender and not dry at all. Was a little pricey though. Like French Quarter prices, but was worth it.

through my previous reviews of Legacy Kitchen you know we like this place. Tonight was no different. We entered to a bustling night at Legacy Kitchen. I guess the word is spreading. No worries as there was space at the bar. I started with a Gin Fizz and it was perfect. So perfect in fact I was mentally transported to a wonderful morning (yes morning) circa 1997... but enough of that. My brother again had his Vanilla Old Fashion and if his reactions to said drink are any indications he enjoyed it. As we were short on time we decided (after much discussion) we would start with our entrees. But before that could happen James (the Manger) presented us with two cuts of a potential appetizer. I remember it as center cut pork belly but time, alcohol and medications have made the specifics hard to come by. The important bit is none of those things can blunt is that pork was fantastic. James told us the idea may include boudin and that will be something we'll come back for. Now on to the entrees. I had the Tuna Tango Salad and it was killer. Christopher had the Legacy Burger and I know from previous experience that is a killer burger! Kaitlyn took care of us from drink to go boxes and yes she is old enough to work behind a bar and yes it is rude to ask how old she is. This is the South and we take that sort of thing seriously. p.s. I almost forgot that a previous unknown manager and that is Brandon. My initial thought is he's a good guy and quite possibly a wonderful manager.

I've been eyeing the transformation of Legacy Kitchen from an old Shoney's to a downright nice looking building for a while now. We were in the area running errands one Saturday and decided to give them a try. I told the boyfriend that they tout their food as "refunded American comfort food," so he had fried chicken on the brain. Too bad they don't have it one their menu. (They do have chicken and waffles, which our server told us is chicken strips. We did not try it although I am a fan of the dish.) The interior is very well done, with lots of subway tile and very unique light fixtures. They have regular tables and a couple of long benches with table plus a bar. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We started off with the Cajun Queso and I am now of the opinion that all cheese dip should have tasso in it. I had the Bacon, BBQ and Cheddar burger and it was absolutely delicious. The boyfriend had the Garden District Club which he said was dry, despite being slathered in mayo. They have really yummy shoestring fries. Our bill was right at $50 for the two of us, which IMO is a bit on the high side, especially for lunch. I wouldn't be opposed to going back, but I don't know that I'll make a point of it either.

The duck chili was AWESOME!! It's a must get. The Blue Cheese Chips are still fabulous and I strongly hate blue cheese. Yes, I've tried blue cheese before and I know exactly what it taste like. BELIEVE me, even if you hate blue cheese like I do, this appetizer is a must try. You DO NOT taste the blue cheese at all!!! Yummy!!!

I love this place! I had a simple club sandwich for lunch, and it was absolutely outstanding. Something so simple, yet they managed to put their own flavor in it and put it over the top. I can't wait to come back and try some more! The bartender was super friendly, even during a busy lunch hour.

The smoked salmon appetizer was excellent, and the grilled salmon was the best that I've had in quite awhile. I really didn't expect a whole lot from this place, mostly because of it's location in a former Shoney's building. I shouldn't have allowed that to fool me, though, as all of the food that was brought to our table was nothing short of impressive. The service was definitely adequate, although not great, but we were so enthralled with our meals that we hardly noticed. I'll be back in the near future, for sure.

Visited Legacy based on commercials seen and heard. The restaurant, food and service did not live up to the hype. Went for lunch on a weekday with friends. Was only average busy. After being seated it took 10 minutes to be waited on. Our appetizer arrived before our soft drinks did. We had to wait another 10 minutes to place entree order. It took another 40 minutes waiting on them to make soup and salad for our group! Each salad had precisely 2 tomato pieces and 2 croutons each ...seriously??? Food was okay, but nowhere near deserving the price we had to pay. I have NO plans to ever return to this restaurant.

Love the menu and the variety of dishes. The pastrami is shipped in from New York. Everything is fresh and the service is excellent, even at busy lunch hours. We like sitting at the bar close to the kitchen. Even the management checks on you there. We can't wait to try more dishes.

We have been here twice, and have had wonderful experiences both times. The service was excellent; friendly and attentive servers who truly seemed excited about the food they were serving and proud of their establishment. We ordered some cocktails that were not on the menu and slightly off the beaten path, and the bartender actually came over to our table twice, first to make sure that he would craft them correctly, and then to ensure that we were enjoying them. Food is excellent. First rate burgers. Inventive and tasty salads; loved the kale caesar and victory chicken salad. The kale slaw and cornbread crawfish casserole were phenomenal. Atmosphere is comfortable, yet quietly sophisticated. One of our servers admitted that it used to be an old Popeyes but it is now delightfully renovated. HIghly recommended.

Pros: Friendly staff, prompt service, good food Cons: Overpriced My boyfriend and I had a $100.00 gift card for Legacy Kitchen and decided to give the place a try last night. We had a reservation for dinner at 6:30, but didn't really need one as only a few tables in the specious restaurant were occupied. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by two friendly hostesses. We were sat with a cheerful, enthusiastic waiter named Daniel. Our waiter was attentive and able to answer any questions we had throughout the evening. We were very pleased with the quality of service we received at Legacy Kitchen. To start off our meal we ordered two appetizers - the soup special, a crab and corn bisque, and the firecracker shrimp. The soup was my favorite course of the evening. Though there was perhaps a pinch too much salt, the soup was overall rich and flavorful. We found a few crab shells which we are always ok with because it means we're eating real, fresh crab meat. At $7.00 for a nice-sized bowl the soup was very appropriately priced. Our second appetizer consisted of six fried shrimp sitting on a bed of cabbage and crispy wontons and topped with a spicy, Asian-inspired sauce. Though the sauce was good, there was a bit too much for my taste and I found it kind of drowned the shrimp. I also thought the $14.00 price tag was a bit steep for six shrimp. For entrees we ordered the Gulf Fish St. Charles and the LK Filet Mignon. The fish dish consisted of a decent-sized piece of redfish garnished with some chopped asparagus and mushrooms and a garlic herb sauce. My boyfriend did not care for the fish, but I thought it had a nice flavor. I enjoyed the addition of asparagus and mushrooms, but wished there was more of it. The side for this dish was the crawfish casserole which is essentially a crawfish stuffing. The b/f did not care for the side as he thought it was too sweet. I found it a tad bit too dry with just an ok flavor. As the dish came with just one side, about $18.00 would have been the sweet spot for this entrée. If the mushroom and asparagus mix came as an actual side rather than a garnish I could see paying a bit more. Our second entrée, priced at $32.00, was a large filet and a generous side of creamed spinach. We ordered the filet medium-rare, though it came out closer to rare. I'd rather have my steak undercooked than overcooked any day though, so this was not a big deal to me. The steak was ok by itself, nothing too exciting about the seasoning, but I really enjoyed it when I dipped it in the garlic herb sauce from the fish (hint, hint Legacy!). The creamed spinach, however, was one of my favorite versions of the dish that I have ever had. It was well-seasoned with a little bit of kick to it. The steak was huge so the $32.00 price tag would have been ok if the steak was seasoned a little more thoughtfully. I did miss having a potato side with my steak, so I'd probably add the shoestring fries if I had this dish again. There is also a baked potato option, but at $7.00 this addition would bring the price of the meal up to almost $40.00. For drinks we ordered the Porch Swing and a glass of cabernet. The Porch Swing consisted of a mixture of sweet tea, mint, and peach vodka and was served in a mason jar. I really enjoyed this drink and the $10.00 price tag was fair given the large size of the cocktail. The glass of wine we ordered was about the same price and I was equally pleased with the taste. The wine was about the same amount of overpriced as it is at all restaurants so no new complaints there! We had an overall nice experience at Legacy, but probably wouldn't return again without another gift card or an adjustment in prices.

Yum. I had a really delicious filet here. The creamed spinach was super cheesy and very good. They have a decent wine list and the staff was nice. They are located in the parking lot of a pretty sketchy shopping plaza, but if you can get past that then you should definitely check this place out. I will definitely be going back.

I've been here three times already and I have no intention of slowing that frequency down! I think this place has a lot of potential. I really hope that people catch on to it and help to make it successful. From the outside, you're not sure what to expect. It was once a Shoney's so it's hard to imagine it as fine dining spot. However, when you walk in...you can sense the attention to detail in decor. It's a wide open space so not very intimate but a generally pleasing space. Now to the food...The blue cheese chips - OMG delicious! The salmon dip - YUM! I had the ribs on my first trip and was very pleased with them. Second time around, I had the chicken and waffle. I've been to Roscoe's in LA (more than one location)Gladys Knight's in Atlanta and Sylvia's in NYC and I must say, Legacy's version of chicken and waffles is outstanding!! It was my pleasure to devour this meal. It is extremely filling though so be prepared to feel like a porker when you're done. I actually saved some for dinner and was equally happy eating it the second time. I had the Legacy Burger as Mmy entree on my third visit was not impressed, unfortunately. I found the burger to be overcooked and the fries not very tasty. In spite of this last experience, I still recommend this spot. They offer a nice change from some of the other chains out in Metairie and truly serve delicious meals. Check it out!

My friend suggested to go here for a drink and dinner. I had never heard of it, but looked over the menu and looked decent. When we arrived, I quickly realized that this would be much more than "decent." We had our door opened for us and greeted with a smile. We sat at the bar, where Michael introduced himself, remembered her name, and asked for mine. He referenced me by name the entire time and was very helpful. We got the queso dip, which was spicy and amazing. The chicken caesar salad was made with fresh chicken and pretty big. Michael also suggested two martinis that I tried, one of which was The Legacy. It was strong and a little sweet. VERY good. I can't wait to go back and try more of their menu!

Beautifully and attractively appointed, good service, limited menu. Cajun queso was a little different. Soups and salads were plentiful and we'll constructed but next time I'm eating a steak because anyone who ages their own is worthy of consideration. If it is better than average I will regrade to a four as I was very impressed with the ambiance.

I have never tried their food. The reason that I give them such a low rating is because I was at an event called Burgers, Bourbon, and Beer, which was a fundraiser for Second Harvest Food Bank. Being at this function, one would think that all of the restaurants who were showcasing their food would have enough burgers to sample for the majority of the time that the event was being held, which was about two and one-half hours. However, after forty-five minutes, Legacy Kitchen completely ran out of burgers to sample, making them the only restaurant at the event that I was not able to taste. Therefore due to their lack of management, supply, and business preparedness for this event, I give them one star. Restaurants are more than the food they serve. As we all know, they are also service and customer satisfaction. And because I paid for this event, I felt as if I was contributing money to all of the restaurants involved, but I was treated poorly by not being allowed to eat their food.

Great service , great food. Only did a burger for lunch but it was tasty appealing to the eye and quick. Chef poppy seed buns bad choice for people coming in for lunch, not always time to pick them out of your teeth. Looking forward to dinner over the weekend can't wait to explore more of the menu.

I have repeatedly made trips out to Metairie just for Legacy Kitchen. This evening we had an early meal and were greatly supported and waited upon (Thanks Daniel!). I love their Bloody Mary (and you can even get a bacon infused one if you're feeling up to it) and it's what I started with. My friend requested a water no ice with lime and they were happy to oblige. We usually order the guacamole which is always fresh, but this time opted for the salmon dip which was amazing. It's an in-house cold smoked salmon with capers, onions, anchovies, and a tartar mayo base. They give you toasted points to eat it with and offer more if you run out! I went with the usual waffle (that's made with bacon!) and it's accompanied with really great chicken. There's a pepper jelly syrup, which is a little indigestion-inducing for me, so I go with the regular maple syrup which is STILL AMAZING. My only complaint is that the chicken and waffles are $17 which is a bit pricey (as well as other menu items).

First let me say that I am a vegan, but can usually find something to eat at most restaurants. The waitress was so pleasant, ( thus the one star)! I ordered the 'Seared Grade 1 Ahi Tuna Salad' without the tuna. I inquired, "Surely it won't be $16 since I'm not getting the tuna?". "Surely not!", she replied. Well, it came with tuna. She took it back for what I had ordered, and when the bill came, it was full price. When I questioned her, she went to discuss it with the manager, and returned with, "I'm sorry! I tried!" I paid my $16.00+, but can tell you I plan never to grace the place again! and have told many friends of my experience, and now I'm telling you!

First trip back to Legacy since last August. This is the real deal, great service, interesting food choices, good value, very comfortable ambiance. They have expanded the beer choices since my first visit and made a couple minor menu changes. Sitting at the bar and watching the food come out of the kitchen makes it one of the more interesting seats in the house. The Duck Chili is still great. Pastrami and Southern Georgia sandwiches were excellent. The surprise of the evening was the creole mustard which had a little horseredish in it. Good enough to dip fries into.... Definitely worth a trip across town.

I guess I can't review the food because i left before I tried anything since the menu was so un-appetizing. The service was beyond amazing and we ordered a alcoholic tea drink from the bar that was crisp and refreshing. I found the menu to be "fancy picnic food" and nothing seemed interesting enough to try. Maybe I missed out, but I wont be going here again!

Good lord best pork chop I had yet and the flavors was spot on!!! We also got the fudge chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream for his birthday,it is to die for! So moist and soft and freshly hot! Love this place!

Really like this place!! It's new, clean, and way better than the Shoney's that was there. It reminds me of like a Copeland's but the menu is slightly different in a good way. Our waitress knew what she was doing which is always great! As soon as our drinks were low, there was a new one. Fun place!

What a surprise... Great food and service.. Cody was our waiter. Great menu, it was hard to choose just one entree. Was 5 of us and everything was fantastic.. This restaurant can play in the big boy league... pun intended.

I really like this place. The atmosphere and service was fantastic. I had the turkey avocado sandwich, which was great. Lots of avocado on the sandwich. I will definitely recommend and be back. There are a lot of things I want to try on the menu. The service was truly spectacular.

Been wanting to try this place and finally did last night. I was very pleasantly surprised. The service was incredible. The food was wonderful. The drinks amazing and the ambience very nice.

  • Roger E.

Pretty good. Could have used some seasoning on the burger and sandwich. Both were very large and cooked perfectly. Salads were rather small but it was lunch so the portions were appropriate. The best thing was the service. I swear we had 4 service persons just for us. Kept up with drinks and all else.

  • M G.

  • Amy E.
