East buffet is probably the best buffet I've eaten aside from casino buffets. Their selection is immense! The best thing I like is that they serve Pho and Udon noodle soup! It isn't spectacular but it hits the spot. If you can't decide on what to eat I would definitely come here. This is my list of great things they have that most places won't: Cucumber and seaweed salad. You mostly only see that in the inari (sushi stuffed tofu) Cold edamame Crab legs! (since the price hike most places only carry them on the weekends) As I mentioned before pho and udon which is referred to as "number 1" or "number 2" I believe respectively HUGE sushi roll selection and sashimi (I've had octopus and ika or squid sashimi for the first time because of them) Decent blue crabs. Not tasteless or anything. A hibachi grill. Okinago has one as well but they just turned it back on recently since the storm. I usually pass on the regular food. DO NOT eat the pasta with white sauce. Unless they changed it, it is spaghetti with thick MAYONNAISE. Disgusting. I've had noodle salad with mayo before but this one does not work. I love crab rangoons when fresh and some wonton soup with panfried dumplings in though. I also warn you there is a big difference between lunch and dinner. I feel lunch has more options and everything is more fresh and when I come for lunch; I feel as if I have eaten the best buffet ever; However when I come for dinner it is a different story. Things are left out and everything becomes stale and gross. Only thing special is that they serve the crab legs at this time. I usually dine "family style" and grab everything at once and share with my friend. That way I guarantee my food and I don't have to get up too many times! As for dessert, their selection is very nice. Depending on the season they will have a huge tray of watermelon and other fresh fruit. They also have very kid friendly dessert, my favorite being this cake with vanilla pudding and animal crackers standing in it. As for the ice cream they have soft serve, but they have rainbow & chocolate sprinkles, nuts, and fudge. And as always, fortune cookies with your bill! We have gotten some really whack ones, even blank ones. Service is subpar. Servers are constantly busy and a little hard to flag down but for the most part your glass gets filled quickly when asked. They are also very good at clearing your plates while you are up getting another round. All in all I love this place but only for lunch. If not for the tremendous difference in lunch and dinner, I would give 4 maybe 5 stars.

Have eaten here several times over the past few years and it's been decent as far as buffet's go. However, went here last night for the first time in almost a year and the place was filthy. Fallen food all over the floor and counter tops. My shoes stuck to the floor as I walked through the buffet area. Kids were playing with the self-serve ice cream, unsupervised. They had made huge mountains of ice cream. No one cleaned it up, by the time I left it had mostly melted and was running down the side of the machine and onto the floor.

While I'm really not a fan of buffets due to cleanliness and hygeine issues we decided to stop by this establishment and give it a try. While basically your average food for a chinese buffet there was a large selection at lunch including seafood. I was impressed with the large sushi bar that had two sushi chefs preparing fresh sushi however the sushi was not marked which made it difficult in making a selection. I also liked the habachi bar with plenty of beef, shrimp and chicken that is prepared right in front of you. While the buffet food was average as buffets go the sushi was fresh and tasty and the service excellent.

This place when it first opened wasn't that good. Over the last few years they had really stepped up their game and were doing much better food than the nearby Oki Nago that has been in decline. On my most recent visit this place seems to have experienced a serious decline as well. I'm afraid they are seriously letting the quality of their food go down. The difference between my lunch today and my last visit several months ago was astounding. The selection and quality just were nowhere near what they had been and most of the food just wasn't very good.

A lot of people frown on buffets and think they're classless and un-cool, or places where obese people graze for hours. Many of us are into buffets because it's a very fast, super-reasonably-priced place to eat, and you get to see and pick which food goes on your plate. If you've ever worked BOH in a kitchen, you can really understand and appreciate what I mean. With that in mind, East Buffet is the best buffet in the area that I have found. It's even superior to most of the local casino buffets (at least Harrah's). The selection is impressive and the food is always fresh, with very fast service and friendly staff. You really can't go wrong here.

I went to the East Buttet to eat today with a friend of mine. I usually go there occasionally maybe once a month. My second plate was a plate of shrimp. I started eating until I tasted something nasty. I spit it out on the plate. The shrimp tasted rotten. I had a stuffed nose, so I could not smell it when I pealed the skin off. I complained about it and the manager came to our table. His name was Sam ( a short asian guy). I told him about what had happened and that the staff had witnessed it too. They even smelled the chewed up shrimp on the plate to make sure I was right. I asked if my part of the meal was going to be compansated. He told me that he was not going to give me a discount of any kind and that I had to pay the full price. He was also being a prick at the same time. So we just paid and left. It was my worst experience for me in a restaurant and I eat out a lot. The manager didn't have a clue about customer service. I work in a hotel down the street, so I will make sure everybody know about this incident.

Huge buffet selections. You gonna find something you love one way or the other. Sushi, Hibachi, Salad Bar, Chinese dishes, Seafood, Desserts, etc. But for me, I came for the giant shrimps, huge raw oysters, and hot and sour soup.

Even though I'm not Jewish, I hit a chinese buffet every year for my Christmas dinner (at least for the last few years anyway). I usually am over in Slidell, so I go to China Buffet. I wasn't too hungry when I was on the way back this year, so I skipped that and decided to go to Oki Nago later in the day. What I failed to realize was that Oki Nago actually respects their employees and was closed for Christmas, so I headed over to East Buffet when I noticed people heading in that direction. It was all right, but mediocre to say the least. The best I can say about it is at least it was cheaper than Oki Nago. And, it's open on Christmas.

Of all the Asian Buffets in the area i like them most. The sushi is pretty good and always seems fresh, the Hibachi is good, they have a good selection for a buffet. The Buffet selection is pretty good too, the people working there are really nice and helpful. If u have a craving for Asian food but can't decide Sushi Hibachi or Buffet lines they have it all and for a good price.

YES! I don't have to drive all the way over to the Wank for half-way decent Chinese food anymore! This place compares very well to anything on this side of the river. The girly even liked it. And a Saturday lunch buffet with seafood (Crabs and crawfish, shrimp and even Octopus and squid as well as mollusks) was just about 8 bucks per person. Our entire lunch was 21 bucks. Wow. And it actually tasted like they have STANDARDS for food prep. I watched the manager go out and clean off the buffet three times while we were there and he even got his lunch from there. If the staff actually EATS the food from the buffet I feel a little better about a place. We didn't get chance to try the pho but the eggdrop soup mixed with the Wonton soup with a splash of the hot and sour soup was a real winner ( I can't leave things alone). And as someone else said, the sushi is plentiful as well as pretty darned good. Even the girly (Who isn't a huge Asian food person) liked it a LOT. If I'm really craving the more adventurous dishes, I'll still go to Hong Kong though.

The high review is because it's good compared to the other crap buffets they have around this area. The food is always fresh and there is a large selection. I've frequent a few times and the food has always been great. There's also a hibachi and a soup station. I think its fresh to order udon, ramen, or pho. Service is great and the place is pretty clean. It's probably one of the best buffets on that side of town when it comes to freshness and taste.

My daughter and I ate there 9/3/12. 5 days after Hurricane Isaac. We have eaten here several times before and had excellent food. This time they should have stayed closed. The sushi looked and tasted like it had been made that a.m. The food was at best, warm. Towards the end of the meal the generator went out, so they offered a 10% discount. They should have offered a 50% discount and closed. Hopefully, this was due to conditions from the hurricane and not business as usual.

The highlight of this typical Asian buffet is the abundant fresh seafood, including some sushi, and the hibachi. Unlike some other buffets, this one has beef on the hibachi for lunch. As for the sushi, there are a number of different rolls but about half of them featured spicy tuna. As much as I love spicy tuna I like a little variety. I don't know if that was because a chef made a large batch of spicy tuna that day or if it is a typical spread. Individual sushi pieces were also available, but only about four different fish were up at a time, which was very disappointing. Overall it's a decent spread for the price, about $8 for lunch.
