Excellent food and service. Our server Jazz was attentive but did not hover and had good recommendations. Prices very reasonable and portions large. The ultimo nachos big enough for a meal for 2!

I brought my mom and kids(ages 2 & 4) here after a day of shopping. It was a nice casual atmosphere. Great for families with kids. Especially after 4 pm on a Tuesday because the kiddos eat FREE! Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The only reason I gave this place 3 stars was because nothing excited me about the food. The salsa was bottled, not freshly made in house. I must say that the quesadillas are pretty darn good though. I like that the menu offered both a small portion and regular size option as well.

Why can this COYOTE BLUES not get their STUFF together??? It is so frustrating. For someone that LOVED the one in Lafayette, why does this one have to suck so much? I thought the service was bad only because it had just opened when we went but I went again last night with some friends. We sat at the bar, they placed their order and the waiter comes back 25! minutes later to tell her they were out of crab cakes. Could he not have told her 24 minutes sooner?? Then my other friend did not order the taco salad with ground beef, but she was going to accept it anyway. BUT they did forget her salad dressing. COYOTE BLUE METAIRIE, WHY DO YOU SUCK SO MUCH? PLEASE GET YOUR STUFF TOGETHER, BC I REALLY LOVED THE ONE IN LAFAYETTE! Seriously, fire all the managment and incompetant waiters. Do something called TRAINING or better yet, go to Lafayette and watch and learn, PLEASE!

Good wasn't all that great. It was definitely pretty bland and my food wasn't even close to being hot, which is concerning because I went for lunch and they weren't all that busy. I really have no desire to go back.

I wasn't entirely impressed with Coyote Blues based off of what I ordered. I got a Portobello mushroom and spinach quesadilla which is misleading because it's actually just spinach and cheese with a few specs of a mushroom. After eating one slice, I opened up all of them to see if one half just had more than the other side and much to my disappointment it was scarce, and by scarce I mean I was lucky if I saw two tiny pieces under one roof. Pretty stingy for a $13 quesadilla that does not come with a side. The ceviche was also a disappointment The fajitas looked good and the chicken was plentiful on that order. The Mexican items don't seem anything out of the ordinary with the exception of a few seafood dishes like oyster tacos, shrimp and crawfish burrito that make the menu seem more "Louisiana". I would try it again because their menu is lengthy and the service was good, just would try something different before I cross if off my list forever.

We've eaten here before but I was disappointed the last time. We'd return for the green salsa, but that's about it.

Oh Yes, I love this place for Not Your tyipical Mexican food. Love the decor, the feel,Very Friendly staff. The food,Always fresh and served hot.Not like a packaged pre cooked mexican food like The other Mexican place in metairie "CG" I Started with a Mango Margurita,so delish and refreshing with some Cilantro Salsa dip So Yum! I Had the Shrimp and crawfish Chimichanga I ordered the small portion and it was more than enough served with rice and the creamiest side dish of refried beans ( I normally dont care for them) It was great. Over all definitly one of my favs.

Its a huge restaurant with a corporate/ franchise feel. I like how they have flavored teas, just in case you miss it, they are listed on the back page at the very bottom. We ordered the duck quesadillas and burrito. Kids got chicken tenders and hamburger. The hamburger was pretty decent for being a non Mexican item and it comes with tons of Rally's type fries. I hated my quesadillas which was disappointing since the ingredients all sounded good. Maybe they forgot something but it wasn't for the blueberry sauce, i would have sent it back. Drink menu(alcohol) was overpriced. Our server was horrible. He didn't know the menu. He was m.i.a most of the time. I left with a feeling that I could live a full life with never going back.

Unfortunately, this place has gone way down and I won't be back. So sad because it was good when it first opened.

I live right down the street from this place and have been here many times and have ordered a wide variety of food since it originally opened. This is one of those places where even though I don't care for the food that much I still come back over and over again because I like to sit at the bar and order some nachos and have a few margaritas because the people that work the bar always take really good care of me. I can go by myself and not feel weird or just watch a football game on tv and relax. And honestly that's all this place really is good for to me. I literally come for the friendly service and the margarita happy hours and the occasional friendly banter with whoever is working the bar at the time. The food is sort of overpriced and not that worthwhile to me. They like to advertise their seafood stuffed burritos and enchiladas, etc. In fact their menu highlights mostly high dollar tex mex seafood options and it's all pretty mediocre. It might fly in their Tennessee location, but this is New Orleans, and I know the difference between canned/packaged seafood and fresh seafood and you can't fool me. I've tried their fajitas and the portions are small and the prices are higher than most Mexican restaurants. I mean, at Carreta's Grill I can get a whole plate of steak fajita meat and veggies for $13 and here I get about 1/3 the portion for $17. There's just other places I would rather go for good Mexican or Seafood in this city. I've even had dinner here with several different family members/friends and not one time has any of them said they really loved their meal. They just say it was "ok" or "interesting combination" or "different" but no rave reviews. So in my experience, everyone else sort of feels the same general level of apathy towards the food. I see a lot of people complain about bad service here but seriously I've NEVER had anything less than speedy and friendly service in the bar area so maybe that's where it's at. Coyote Blues definitely has "ok food," but just don't expect anything outstanding or life changing.

From time to time I find what I'd consider to be my death row meal. NOT that I have any plans to end up on death row, but I like to be prepared. Well if I were about to be dead woman walking I'd ask the warden for the shrimp and crawfish chimichanga from Coyote Blues. I'd ask for extra seafood sauce, which they always get for me here. And for my sides I'd have the divine cheesy grits and some divine cheesy grits. What the heck, whose counting carbs on death row! This is the taste when true Cajun meets Mexican - fresh, local and flavorful. So good it simply puts a smile on my face. So, if I ever take up residence in St Gabriel don't bother calling Sister Prejean for me!

This is a chain restaurant in the middle of a sea of chain restaurants in Metairie. The food was good, the rest of the experience was pretty nondescript, so I'll just list the facts. Pluses: - The food was great. I had a shrimp and crawfish chimichanga and it was delicious. - Service was friendly and quick. - I don't know what the light green dip is that they bring out with the chips, but it is yummy. Negatives: - Location. It is right in the middle of a little outcropping of new restaurants, so it can be pretty busy/packed at times. (I went right after work on a Tuesday, so it wasn't too bad when I was there.) - Not open for lunch. Even on weekends. - Yellow cheese dip. I enjoyed my food and will probably go back at some point in the future. However, that being said, Coyote Blues didn't really leave much of an impression on me at all even with the good food. So I definitely won't be going out of my way to return either.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. It was the most horrible Mexican place I've ever been.

    (1)
  • Jennifer B.

Not bad. Not great. I've had much better Mexican/Tex-Mex food at other restaurants at much lower prices, though, which is my reasoning behind the 3 stars. Yes, it was good, but it wasn't amazing, nor was it a great value. The highlight? Friendly server. Quick drink refills. I would recommend this if you are in the area and you want Mexican-ish food. Otherwise, there are better places to eat (even in Metairie).

I have heard numerous people say that they do not enjoy this place, but every time I have gone I have really enjoyed the food. They have fried oyster tacos which are bomb! The first time I went (back when they first opened) they had an option where you could order one fried or grilled shrimp and one fried oyster. The next time I went, they said that you could no longer mix and match the tacos. That has been the only thing that I have not enjoyed. I really like the salsa that is brought to your table when you arrive. Some of the items on the menu seem to be a little expensive, but I usually stay away from those items or split something with someone, so I always leave full and happy. On Mondays they have margaritas for a dollar. A dollar!! The last time I went it was a Monday, and my boyfriend and I split the appetizer sampler. It was a lot of food! It was pretty good, but the quesadillas were by far the best thing on it. We may just get the chicken quesadillas next time. We also ordered one 1 dollar margarita each. My boyfriend isn't a big drinker and he decided just to give his to me. We also ordered the white chocolate Godiva bread pudding which was delicious! For a little over 20 dollars we both left full, and I left tipsy.

I've been here for happy hour and got a to go order. This review will get additional stars if the manager sticks to her word. I called in the chicken fajita nachos - $11.69. My roommate and I wanted a dinner/snack so we figured that $12 nachos will do the trick. I did the curbside to go and got my food as soon as I got there. I KNEW I should have checked my bag but I peaked in and saw a styrofoam box, two things of dips and chips - I figured I had to assemble the nachos myself. I got home and I had about 7 chips with melted cheese, chicken, refried beans, and jalapeños in the box. The guacamole, sour cream and pico was missing. Also 7 chips does not warrant $12. I called and complained and the manager said I can get a free order of chicken fajita nachos next time I go in. I gave her my phone number and she said the offer does not expire. Once I go back this review might be bumped up to three stars.

Never been here before Saturday night. Things looked good, ordered the combo appetizers while eating the chicken quesadilla I felt something strange in my mouth, after digging it out it was a tie wrap for the tortillas. Called a server over, he called the mgr and they graciously took it off our bill. My crawfish shrimp chimichanga looked great but when I cut it open the smell of foreign crawfish was strong, I don't recommend it. My wife ordered the steak fajitas, tasted like beef jerky covered with artificial flavor. The manager also took care of the fajitas. The point is my family and I came there to have dinner, not put up with these issues.

Bad service + C- Food = 1 star came here on a Monday night around 7ish with the wife and kid. From the beginning our experience didn't start too well, the hostess sat a table that was waiting in front of us, then we stood there waiting for her to come back for what had to be at least 5 minutes. Meanwhile no more than 4 employees walked by us and said nothing. Anyway that's a minor gripe, the hostess came back apologized for the wait and sat us. That's when the terrible service began. We (no exaggeration) spent at least 70 of the 90 or so minutes we were here waiting on someone to help us. First it was waiting on our server to come take our order. Then it was me waiting 30 minutes for the $1 Margarita I ordered, then it was us waiting after we were done for our waitress to check in on us and to let her know that we were ready to go. From the time we sat down I think our waitress approached our table a total of 3 times, once to take our orders, once to bring the drink she forgot (after my wife flagged her down as she was heading to another table) and once after we told another employee we were ready for the check. The sad part is I would have probably drank at least 3 more margaritas, but our server never checked on us. I've worked in restaurants so I'm willing to give a pass if they are clearly slammed and understaffed, but that wasn't the case. there were at least 5 servers on staff, what appeared to be a supervisor who i probably saw only once, a hostess, and 2-3 busboys, and the restaurant was maybe at 75% occupancy. as far as the food goes, it was meh. The salsa tasted like it came from a can, the guacamole tasted like they just mashed some avacodos and nothing else, no lime, cilantro, salt or any flavor. I definitely WON'T be back even if they have Kids eat free on Tuesdays.

Mediocre service (made us wait a while to be seated outside) just because people didn't want to clean tables I guess. There were tables available but not cleaned. Disappointing food. Ordered shrimp and tilapia tacos and the tortilla was not fresh. It became hard after some minutes. I'm not coming back.

Every time I come here I order the same thing ( I'm a creature of habit at times). 2 cheese and onion enchiladas with the pablano rice ( the waitress will ask if you want green rice or red....go green). I am not a fan of spanish/mexican rice but the pablano is pretty good. It's never crunchy or over cooked. While this isn't the most authentic place, they are consistent. They consistently do a nice job on the enchiladas and they taste the same every time. I find myself dining here when I'm too indecisive. All in all not a bad middle of the week place.

For all the hype this place had I was expecting amazing, but I felt more apathetic than anything. I didn't hate it and I didn't love it. That said, I am not not a topping person so my tacos were just meat and cheese and I didn't get my usual queso with my chips-- so I don't have a ton to judge. The margarita was tasty and they have several flavors to choose from, but I was not a big fan of the rice or beans. The menu offers a lot to choose from and my boyfriend absolutely loved the huge burrito stuffed with everything you can find in the sea! Servers were friendly and we didn't have I wait long for a table. Overall, there was nothing bad about the experience, but also nothing that was truly memorable.

Ok. Just to forewarn you, fair reader, I'm 'bout to bitch about something that not everyone has a problem with, but that 20% of the population loathes: cilantro. If you're not someone who is genetically predisposed to perceive that cilantro tastes like someone spiked your food with Ivory soap, this review does not apply. If you are one of the chosen few however, read on & avoid Coyote Blues like the plague! I love Mexican food! LOVE it! Even mediocre, chain restaurant Tex-Mex. When I was a kid & Chi-Chi's was still in business, I could & would eat anything off their menu. But in the last 10 years or so, restaurant owners/chefs have inexplicably decided to put cilantro in anything & everything with even a wisp of Mexican flavor. Why restaurants do this when 20% of the population hates the stuff is a mystery for the ages. Maybe 20% of restaurant owners are genetically predisposed to be assholes. In any event, as soon as the salsa & chips were brought to our table, I could smell the cilantro in the salsa, so check that off the list. Strike 1. When the waiter approached to take our order, I lied & told him I'm allergic to cilantro. If you think this makes me a horrible person, you've never tried to repeatedly & unsuccessfully exclude it from your food with simple requests. The struggle is real. So I ordered the duck quesadillas. While they were able to successfully serve this dish sans cilantro, it turns out that duck & cheese just doesn't taste very good together. This one's on me &, while I wanted to order something else, we were happy to pay for the quesidillas, especially since my husband liked them & took them to go. The whole wanting to order something else is where things got annoying. I went for simple & easy: beef tacos. That's when the manager comes to the table & tells me that cilantro is in the pre-made taco mix. You mean to tell me that I can't even get a simple taco without cilantro? Seriously? Strike 2. Assuming it will take less time for him to tell me what doesn't have cilantro in it than what does, I ask what I can order. My assumption was right because he says, "Fajitas." That's it. Again, seriously? In the meantime, my husband had ordered chicken fajitas & they were served floating in a sea of butter. I've got nothing against butter, but that didn't exactly look like appealing Tex-Mex. Strike 3. So what did I order? Nothing. We left & went to another restaurant where I could actually enjoy a meal. Restaurant owners, I'm begging you, on behalf of myself & 20% of the population: Stop putting cilantro in everything!

I finally had the opportunity to visit this location on a Saturday night around 7pm. Because it's location is in Metairie I was worried that it would be beyond crowded and long wait for a Saturday, but there was no wait. We walked right in and was seated by a smiling hostess. Once seated waitress brought complimentary Chips and Salsa, along with some type of avocado dip (which I didn't find too taste), which was a very nice touch. Food: I went with the chicken and steak fajitas. Normally with this dish two things tend to happen not enough or just no flavor is present. This was not the care this time around. The steak was cooked perfectly and truly have a great flavor and I just wanted to eat it alone without all the other things on my plate. Fajitas was served with onions, bell peppers, poblano rice, charro beans, guacamole, sour cream, cheddar cheese, fresh pico de gallo, garlic butter and tortillas. I opted out of the charro beans so I can not comment on that portion of the meal. Overall the meal was delicious and came just as I ordered it in a reasonable amount of time. The meal was filling and reasonably priced. Atmosphere: It's definitely a mixed crowd, you will find babies in here, big families as well as individuals on dates and with friends. So you can expect not the most quiet location if that is something important to you. Parking: Private lot shared with other businesses but ample parking and really shouldn't be a problem at all.

Boo... the service is slow and food is not that great. However if you like grizzle in your stake this place is for you. The long tacos are not bad. But over all nothing to write home about.

My wife and I split the ceviche appetizer, a beef fajita burrito, and duck quesadilla. Food was decent, it seemed to either be over salted or accompanied by a sauce that might help mask food quality. The best part was it being $1 Margarita Monday and the unlimited free chips n salsa.

OKAY LISTEN UP EVERYONE CONSIDERING SPENDING MONEY HERE. I have been here 4 times, to give it a fair chance. The first time my boyfriend and I went it was pretty decent. Service was mediocre, food was averageish, but we decided to try different dishes and come back a few more times. The next 3 times we went it was literally disgusting. The food is not good and the average plate is over $15+. If you notice no matter when you go they are never busy.. There is a reason for this! Also on one of our visits, in the middle of is telling the server our order she started texting on her phone, and then told us she was just checking if it was still happy hour (it was about 6pm at this time). Food is not disgusting!! Please do not waste your money here.

My husband and I were frequent Coyote Blues visitors. We absolutely LOVED the duck quesadilla (who wouldn't? It's duck fat and a sweet dipping sauce). However, our last encounter was WAY below par. We decided to share the chicken fajitas, which we get at almost every Mexican restaurant we go to as I am not a huge Mexican fan but love some fajitas. The first bite was AWFUL! SOUR CHICKEN AND VEGETABLES! That was odd and my husband didn't believe me, so he took a bite himself and sure enough, SOUR. He continued to eat the atrocity (because he does not, by any means waste food, I on the other hand am more than happy to send something back). We later told our waiter, he briefly apologized and didn't even offer to let us speak to the manager. Horrible customer service and an awful meal. This just shows the lack of freshness in their ingredients. I know it's a chain, but come on guys if your prices are going to be $15-20 let the quality be similar! I'm sad to say I will not be dining at this restaurant chain again and will advise my friends who liked it to stop.

We tried Coyote Blues this past Cinco de Mayo. It wasn't our first choice, but it was less crowded. I had heard positive things about it, but we weren't sure what to expect. We were told it would be a 40-45 minute wait for 3 people, so we headed to the bar to see if we could wait in there. It was very packed. The bartenders were not very friendly and were more interested in catching the basketball game on the TV. A waitress finally helped us with our drink order and we were eventually brought 2 drinks instead of the 3 that we ordered. We knew that because it was Cinco de Mayo it would be busy. So, we didn't make an issue of it. We were seated after about 23-30 minutes. It was a little shorter than expected, so that was good. We were given fresh hot chips with two dips; a salsa and a creamy cilantro and avocado one. Both were loaded with garlic, but fine. We ordered the grilled tilapia tacos, smoked duck tacos and the grilled tuna steak for our entrees. All three were basically good. The tuna steak came with these awesome poblano and corn grits. Overall, the meal was pretty good. I would come back again. ...Especially for those corn grits.. They were off the hook!

Today made the 2nd time I've been to Coyote Blues. I made a stop with my sister and enjoyed it so I brought my fiancé here. The first visit I had the veggie quesadillas. They were awesome. The 2nd visit the service was horrible from the moment we sat down. Not only were there hardly any customers, but there were plenty of staff. Our server should not have disappeared so much! Our drinks took forever to come from the bar, which was empty except for the workers. We ordered the seafood queso only to find out 10 minutes later they were out of it. It took that long for you to tell us?! So we ordered the regular queso. It was ok. I've had much better. I got the veggie quesadillas again. Still very good. My fiancé got the ground beef tacos. The meat was just mush. Our server was extremely rude, sarcastic and had a major attitude. The first time ever that I've left a $1 tip, but honestly, I could not justify giving her more. When the bill came out I was charged for the seafood queso (which we didn't get) and the regular queso. Then it took forever to get a new bill. The quality vs the price def. didn't equal up. Don't think I'm coming back.

The service was slow, so after I finished my lunch, I just placed the cash on the table and left. Well, I ordered the "pick your own" special for $9.99, which, in my case, was a Beef Enchilada, Beef Taquitos, Refried Beans, some lettuce, and Mexican Rice. All of his was hot and delicious, and the chips & salsa were fine. But, nothing was remarkable or really different than what one can get at most any other Mexican restaurant. It is a new place, so the exterior and interior are very nice. The prices are a bit higher than typical family Mexican restaurants. RJT

Those POTATOES!!! Maaaaannnnn!!!! I like this place. I didn't think I would at first, but the service and entree won me over in the end. I started my meal with queso and chips (as I always do @ Mexican restaurants). The queso really wasn't all that great. The chips were great though. I ordered the Churrascaria. It was REALLY good. And everything had a smokey flavor including the corn grits. But the main thing I can't stop thinking about are those potatoes!!! I even asked the chef for the recipe out of pure desperation to be able to make it at home. Of course I didn't get a recipe. The portion sizes were pretty good also and I left stuffed. The server was kind and had a pretty good sense of humor. Overall... this was a pretty good experience.

Service was ridiculously horrible, waitress rarely ever came and took forever, after coming finally she says the kitchen is closed and serves us the worst food that I have ever eaten. Then charged $70 for a meal that can't even stand against McDonalds.... If you have the chance to go to Superior Grill go there it walks ALL over this place!

Good food with a local flare. First visit I encountered a long wait but decided to sit on the patio which is first come first serve. The food was good, nothing was outstanding but I didn't expect to be blown away by a chain restaurant. Drinks were moderatly priced. I had a bloody mary. They use Zing Zang mix, an array of garnish incuding bell pepper. I thought that was cool. $8 bucks a pop. I had a "house" margarita which was average. $6.50 and worth it. Ceviche was good. I had chicken soft tacos. I asked the server if they offered any special kind of hot sauce. She brought me Tabasco. :) I expected a little more in that catagory. Overall it was worth it. I'll be back.

I'm always on the lookout for Mexican food. I LOVE it! I love it authentic and I love it "fresh/American." But Coyote Blues can miss me. I'm sorry but I have no intention of returning. Nothing about this place did it for me. I tend to think I'm a fairly forgiving diner and will often give places the benefit of the doubt - thinking I'll come back and try something else. Eh...I'm good on that with this spot. The atmosphere was very generic and cafeteria-esque to me. Felt like the Mexican version of Friday's. The drinks were watered down and not very good. The food was simply not very good. I ordered the Shrimp Diablo quesadilla and was overwhelmed (and underwhelmed at the same time) with the sauce all over it. I didn't finish it and I didn't take it home. My guy ordered Churrascaria and it was ok. Had a descent flavor but nothing I'd write home about. I'm not saying don't try this spot out. But I am saying...don't expect much.

Yeah, I gave the franchise a 4 start bc the food was good, service on par and I loved it. When I love I dish the stars out. I was skeptical when we walked into the place bc let's be honest, the décor is cheesy and ambiance? What ambiance? The place was packed for a Thursday evening though. A lot of the staff are very young and the only older person was our server Eddie who was friggin awesome. Even the guys that served us from the previous evening over at Mr. John's Steakhouse couldn't shine as bright as Eddie. Go Eddie! My husband and I agreed that he looked like a character our of a mob movie---even down to his raspy voice. Our Eddie, he was cheerful and so nice. I had to wonder about the food at this cheesy décor place but I was off--the duck quesadilla was off the chain, the little fiesta salad? I was impressed. We had the Fiesta crab cakes, man it was good, Ive had crab cakes ok? But this one was just as good as I was at NOLA restaurant, blasphemy you say? Ok to each their own. In addition to this we had the ceviche. OMG friggin good, even better than Bonefish Grill in addition to some Tex-Mex places Ive been to in Austin or Houston. Granted Im not in Spain but this was as good as it gets. The ceviche was on a bed of mixed greens, the vinaigrette that was on it was perfect, it came with some chips but I was trying to avoid filling up on unnecessary carbs. The little shrimps and scallops were perfect and not chewy along with crabmeat. It was so good. Husband had the Bandito Ribeye which cam with some darn good mash potatoes, it was corn, bacon, and I could taste a lot of garlic, possibly lotsa butter and salt too because I was so darn bloated after eating that alone. At any rate, I'm a fan. To give it 3 stars would've been unfair because in all honesty I have eaten at a lot of 5 start restaurants around town and the service and food didn't compare to Coyote Blues. Try their 2 for 1 happy hour Mango Margarita, they didn't skimp on the alcohol that's for sure. 6.50 for one so Id take advantage of that! As for the price, pretty reasonable and I believe on par with what a cheesy décor place with food like this would charge. I hope whoever was cooking my food last night stays put and doesn't go anywhere because they did a fine job of executing the orders on time and food came out great. Thank you so much!

Simply awful. Chain restaurant, cheap food. You can find better Mexican food elsewhere.

I think this might be some of the most BLAND Mexican style food I've ever eaten! This is equivalent to an Applebee's or Chili's level of dining and the food did not impress me as Chili's makes more flavorful stuff. The taco was probably the best thing I ate while the enchiladas were covered in some very disappointing sauces. They offer very limited selections for their "combo" meals and whereas most Mexican restaurants give you a choice of the type of sauce you get on your enchiladas no such option exists here. If you're used to bold and spicy flavors then this isn't the place for you but if you've got grandma with a delicate stomach then this might be the perfect chain experience place. The service was friendly and accommodating and they had some interesting drinks.

Wow. Could the service be any worse??? Let's stick around and find out. Thirty minutes after seating and still no water. Food: barely palatable; service: none; atmosphere: LOUD; coming back? NO.

They just opened this place up not too long ago in a complex with other great places. It was busy since the buzz of it being new still haven't fizzed out. I went with the best friends and there was a slight wait when we got there. It wasn't long til we were buzzed in however, so that was a plus seeing how busy they were at the hour. We were seated in a spacious booth right by the doors to the kitchen. It took us a while to decide what we wanted because the menu had quite a variety. One of us tried the bahama mama margarita while the rest had sweet tea. The sweet tea is definitely not overload on sugar like other places. I would have liked it a little sweet but I suppose it's better it wasn't. One of my friends went a few days earlier and had the smoked duck taco, which he loved, and wanted to try something with duck again. He opted on the smoked duck quesadilla this time and loved it just the same. I got a small Fajita beef plate and let me warn you unless you can eat a lot go for the small. The friend that had gone before suggested a small for me since it was going to be a good sized portion and I was glad I listened to him. They ran out of one of my sides, but I wasn't going to complain over it because it was a side of corn grits. Which I didn't really need to be eating and I didn't miss out on much because I nipped off one of my friends. It definitely had a kick to it compared to Zea's corn grits. I think I'll stick to their heart attack corn grits even though it's probably worse to eat. Overall, I almost cleared my plate completely. The fajita and the mashed potato were delish! The service was pretty good compared to most places. Our waitress would check up on us every so often. A thing I did find nice even though it's nothing spectacular was that she would come and tell us how much longer til our meals came out. Which was fine with us because we were occupied with their homemade dip and chips. To the point when she asked us if we wanted refills we were like "NO!" Their homemade sauce are quite tasty. The one my friend had with his quesadilla was divine. So if you're craving Mexican food and want a new place to try, I would recommend giving Coyote Blues a try! I can't wait til my boyfriend is in town to take him to try it out. There's so much on the menu I have yet to try and plan on later on. The environment was lively and the workers were on their toes accommodating all the guest.

Let me start by saying that I don't typically care for chain restaurants...BUT...I really like Coyote Blues! I had been to the location in Lafayette several times and always thought that it would do well in New Orleans, so I was happy to hear that they'd opened a location here. Now onto my review... We arrived at 7:30 last night. I'd say that they were at about 75% capacity. We were seated right away. Our waitress was very friendly and we got a great laugh off of her when she said that her favorite appetizer was the Fried Oysters on the Half Chip...but she doesn't like oysters. HUH? She quickly let us know that she just gets the kitchen to substitute shrimp for the oysters. LOL She quickly brought us out some hot, fresh chips, a cilantro type dip and some salsa. The chips were hot and fresh. The green dip was sooo good! Cilantro? Cream cheese? Sold. Their salsa is also very good. Chips and salsa are the death of me at a mexican restaurant. Why even bother ordering a meal? For our appetizer we shared a ceviche. It was really good! Lots of shrimp and big chunks of crab. I was THRILLED to see that Coyote Blues offers small portions of their entress! YES! Who on earth can eat a full entree at a mexican restaurant after gorging on chips and salsa? Not me. I had the Shrimp and Crawfish burrito and it was delicious. I've learned that anything you get here that has their signature seafood sauce on it is DELISH. I got the small, so it came with one burrito...which was a little larger than your average enchilada. It was plenty. My date got the tilapia fish tacos. It was a big plate of food, but he took care of it with no problems. He's also thin as a rail. I hate men! I had a bite and it was very, very good. We were, of course, too stuffed for dessert. Does anyone eat dessert at a mexican restaurant? How? Oh right...only men do this. Why? Because they can! LOL That's just my jealously rearing its ugly head. I'd highly recommend Coyote Blues. It's a great date place too. Delicious, great service and reasonably priced. P.S. We didn't partake in any cocktails, but they all looked good. I'm especially intrigued by the sangria margarita. Two of my favorite drinks all in one. Yes please! Also note...on previous visits to the Lafaytte location, I've had the smoked duck quesadillas with a blueberry and raspberry chipotle sauce and it's sooo good!

Cheese enchiladas and Mexican rice were really good but how could you mess up on those? Chips that were served with the guacamole and queso are greasy and disgusting. They are different than the chips that they serve with the complimentary salsa. Taquitos were good. The drink service was incredibly slow and had very little alcohol in them. I ordered a Cosmo but it took so long for me to receive it that it was warm! Gross. Ordered a vodka and soda and I sware I don't think there was even a half ounce of vodka in this drink. Ordered a frozen margarita and we asked for a shot of grand manier on the top and there was none to be tasted smelled or seen. When we checked the bill they only charged us 1.75 for it so we didn't bother to argue. Probably won't go there again since the drinks were terrible.

Went to eat on Monday night. From the number of cars usually in the parking lot, figured this would be a great place to eat. Our waiter appeared to be extremely lethargic, moving in slow motion. I've recently had surgery for oral cavity cancer, cannot eat anything real spicy. Explained this to the waiter, asked about the fajita steak chimichanga, he said it was not spicy. Ordered this with grits and charro beans. When plate came there was a small dish of mushrooms on it which I assumed was part of the dish. After I had taken a bite of the grits and one of the shrooms, our waiter came, said they made a mistake putting the shrooms on my plate, took them to another table. After I had eaten out of them! Getting back to the "not spicy" chimichanga, after two bites of this, my tongue was numb. Would have complained, but after taking the shrooms to another table, our waiter never came back except to bring our check.

I have visited the Met location about 5 times. Their biggest problem is consistency. The food has always been flavorful, but other various factors have factored into giving them a so-so rating. One time it took 45 minutes to get our food. Not a peak time either. I have also noticed they have a problem serving lukewarm food. That's a cardinal sin in the food service industry. Serving hot food is pretty basic. When it comes up on the line it should be run to the table immediately. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. Although i have never seen a management person going to tables and asking diners how their food/service is. You can't improve if you aren't getting feedback from your patrons. I would go back, but I'm only giving them one more chance. If they drop the ball on my next trip, I'm done!

I had the ribeye and duck tacos because of the recommendation of my server Mark and he was spot on. The ribeye was one of the most tender steaks I have eaten and the duck was also very good. Thanks Mark. We will ask for you the next time we come in.

Coyote Blues---My first time there. Wife & I went with another couple dinner was for four. Bill $77.00 2 ladies had 1 margaretta each, men had 1 diet coke each. I thought it was over priced for a mexican restaurant.. Food on scale of 1 to ten was a 3. We will not go back. Casa Garcia puts them to shame. Service was bad. Waitress came over after about ten minutes and left menu. Then about three minutes later came back and said I'll take your order now. I said aren't you supposed to bring us some chips etc first. She took off without saying a word, very rude and a few minuted later showed up with chips and salsa and said I will take your order now. 2 men asked for 2 glasses of water one each. One man got 1 glass of water, the other none. I asked for double order of beans and no rice but got one rice and one bean. When I told waitress she said well that the kitchen fault and walked away. The beans were horrible smashed to the point that they were just like a soup. This was Sat. night about 7:00 p.m. Feb. 9 , we ate in the bar and a little light skined black girl was our waitress. I wish I had gotten her name because she needs to be in another business, She was so rude! Well save your money. There are too many great places to eat here, several relly good mexican restaurants. We won't be going back there. Phil Pisciotta

My first time going to this restaurant. Service was ok but the food was REALLY bad! Beans and rice tasted like they came out of a can and my chicken tacos had 3 small unseasoned strips of chicken and the rest was all lettuce. The place is very uninviting tables were dirty and floor was dirty also. My husband had fajitas and the meat tasted ok but it was a small portion and only had onions and no peppers; and very expensive. To be honest, Taco Bell has better tasting food. We come to NOLA very often and found that Taqueria Corona on W Esplanade in Metairie is much, much better.

OMG, Run away. Slow service, we went to put salt on our chips and brown stuff came out. We opened the jar and the cap was completely rusted. We showed it to the waitress and she just said "that just the way it is here in Louisiana with the humidity and all". We found hair in our taquitos and she said it was cheese. That was enough for my wife. I however continued eating. Well, my reward was me being sick the rest of the night. This will not be a place that we will be returning too.

Hello all, I want to start by saying that I wish I could give them more stars, however I can't just put a grade on the food I rate the entire experience. Lets start with the food, it was good. We ordered the spicy beef taquitos. They were tasty, but they were a little soggy and the jalapeño salsa ranch was just too ranchy and not spicy enough. But the free chips and salsa they bring came with a guacamole sauce and a non-spicy salsa. For entrees we ordered the nuevo crab enchiladas and the chicken fajita chimichanga. They both come with delicious sauces. However they had a back up in the kitchen and 45 mins later we finally received the food. The sides were ok (poblano rice, pinto beans and corn succotash). Dessert consisted of the Fried Ice Cream. This was my fault I didn't read it to realize that the ice cream's shell was a coconut cornflake type thing. But the ice cream and cinnamon sugar shell was delicious. It's hard to give them such a low rating but we've been there twice now and each time the service has been sub-par. Unfortunately, while items of your food are delicious it wasn't good enough to deal with the poor service.

I have a tendency toward eating out at Mexican places a lot and I really like this one. They just opened and I didn't think they would be this good this fast. They have really awesome 2 for 1 drink specials where pretty much anything on the drink menu is included from 5-7, I think. I got a fajita burrito and it was awesome. They also serve chips and salsa with this green kind of spicy guacamole sauce. It was really different and I really liked it. I will definitley go back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
