Good food in a comfortable relaxed setting. Great French Fries and fried seafood. I really like the staff and the service is just what is expected. I'm still working my way through the menu and will give some updates later. UPDATE- After my lunch yesterday I had to upgrade my rating to 5 stars. I had the Fried Shrimp and Catfish platter and was transported back to the classic seafood house flavors that New Orleans has been famous for. When I was a kid going to a seafood restaurant, the fried food was always served with toast at the bottom of the plate. I was pleased to see that this restaurant hadn't lost that tradition. That toast always has the best flavor. The shrimp were a perfect size. They weren't small like popcorn shrimp but they weren't giant prawns either. They were the perfect large shrimp you would expect on this kind of platter and they were fried to perfection. The catfish were nice long strips that were light flakey and perfectly fried. The flavors were the best I've had in years. I will definitely be going back for the shrimp and catfish.

well i was so excited to discover this place close to home! I ordered my food and my mouth was watering! I ended up ordering my food online and the ready time seemed a little lengthy so i decided to call and check on the time and the lady was so rude I ended up not going get my food and probably will never order from here again!

A lot of bang for the buck. Had the large bowl of jambalaya listed under appetizers for $4, can't beat that price. It arrived in a big bowl & we split between 2 people. The flavor was good with added salt & pepper. Next we had the Shrimp/Okra Gumbo which had a lot of flavors...my mouth could not figure out the spice that left a odd distinct after taste, but it was good. Lastly we had the Fried Pickles which is one of my favorite if done right. They fell short to epicurean standards. Very thinly sliced & greasy but they still had an OK flavor that made them edible. Overall I would recommend this place. Don't expect a lot of conversation from the staff... Our server was friendly but reserved!!!

Tried a groupon for Cajun Grill and Bar for lunch today. Don't be deceived by the building. The food is cooked to order and done quite well. The catfish is cooked to perfection. The oysters are timed just right when they come out of the deep fryer. The shrimp are good but would be better with a slightly lighter batter. This little Metairie restaurant can hold it's own with any restaurant in the area. And by the way don't miss the potato salad it seasoned perfectly and nice and smooth; you will love it. You can bet I will be back!

This place was just OK. Service was so-so. She didn't seem too happy that we had a coupon. Shrimp and catfish were decent. Corn on the cob was good. Potato salad was dry. With the coupon prices were reasonable, but I wouldn't pay full price here.

Once again very satisfied with food and service. The red beans and rice are especially good, and the homemade potato salad is the best. Today's chicken salad special was excellant. This place is a must try for everyone.

my husband and I absolutely love this place. any kind of food here is great. we try to go in at least once a week bc we stay at the motel right beside it and we are amazed by the food everytime! the atmosphere is very very laid back, it's not crowded and it's non-smoking for all you non-smokers! the owners and their staff are very sweet down to earth people. the prices of the food are just right for the amount of food you get!

I tried this place after buying a groupon..the food was not great, I had the wings and my husband had the new Orleans sampler and we expected a lot more taste w ise..the staff was helpful, but the wings needed seasoning, they were bland wingettes, the beans were pastey, the shrimp creole was weak at best, the gumbo was pretty good, the catfish was horrendous. Definitely not worth the visit..

As a native of the Metairie /New Orleans area, when I'm home I love this place!!! I have been doing business with them since at least 2008 maybe even longer ( I can't remember lol) I love the fact they deliver because after driving for 10 hours the last thing i want to do is drive some more. I LOVE all the food I've ordered from them! It's as good as Maw maws... I can't wait till my upcoming trip to get some Stuffed Artichoke,Roast Beef poboy, Muffaletta, fried catfish dinner & Bread Pudding with Rum Sauce. It's a small place when dinning in,but i like small places, and while i know some tourist may have stumbled across this place i don't think they can appreciate it's "quaintness" as much as the locals can...but that's just my opinion . For now i will continue to do business with them cause i love the food!

my wife and i were travelling from CA to FL and stopped in New Orleans to attend the KBIZ Trade Show. We stayed at the Extended Stay in Meterie and stumbled upon Cajun Grill & Bar just next door. At first it looked like just a hole in the wall but it turned out to be the best cajun food i've ever had in New Orleans!!!! Their Boiled Crawfish were the Best...very inexpensive too and Lyn, the owner and cook was a fantastic hostess as well....We highly recommend eating here!!!!

Everything was good but the chicken parm, but everything also had at least one thing wrong with it. The Fried pickles were really good, but really greasy. The Southwest eggrolls were good, but looked like they were cooked previously and just heated up. The Chicken Parm was awful. The sandwich for one was soggy and wet from the sauce being all around it. The Chicken on the sandwich was more fried batter than chicken (or so it tasted) and made me feel sick. The worst part was that I paid $31 for 2 appetizers and an entree. Moral of the story, if you're going to up-charge your food prices, be able to back them up with good food. Only good thing was the delivery, which was very fast.

I ordered to go, was quoted 30-40, it's down the street and I'm injured so I was fine with that.....it took over an hour and everything was cold, soggy, and just gross. So so so upset with this experience. Negative stars

I had heard good things about this establishment on other review sites and decided to stop by while in town recently. Nothing special just a very small hole in the wall bar with a small kitchen owned by Lynn, her brother and her mother. I am a huge fan of small hole in the wall businesses that are local favorites and had high hopes for Cajun Grill when we entered. Since I've been craving some fried mushroom I ordered some as an appetizer and although they seemed homemade not frozen they were a little funky. The roast beef po-boy was homemade but not really what I was expecting. In defense of Lynn who asked several times if everything was ok, I really shoulda spoken up about the mushrooms but didnt have the heart to tell her. This establishment seemed to have some really good lunch dishes at reasonable prices but my lunch really didnt live up to my expectations.

Amazing value for your money and great lunch spot! It has been a VERY long time since I got so much food for such a low price. Very nice folks that run this place and they make a point to find out your name and remember it. I had driven by this place a few times as it is near my office and I wasn't sure if it was a just a bar or something else but on closer inspection I noticed they advertised some really great lunch specials and they have a whole lot to choose from. This place seems to have many repeat customers (so that says a lot about a place to me that has people that eat there so often that the staff know most people that walk in the door by name). The location is not the most convenient (unless you work around where I do) or easiest to find but it has very easy parking. I will be going back for lunch on a regular basis to sample all the tasty looking things on the menu and that will take awhile as they have different daily specials in addition to their already well apportioned menu.

6 trips to New Orleans in 3 months. Tried many places, and still think this place has best food. Outside is an unimpressive strip mall, and the inside is very basic. But the food is the best. Lots of classic New Orleans options, and all great prices. If you are looking for great food, and fantastic value; this is a must try.

The bus boy seemed polite, the lady who took the order behind the counter lacked finess. The floor was dirty and the tables sticky. It had dingy basement smell to the location. The salad had no tomatoes just lettuce 1 slither of boiled egg and 2 slices of cucumber. I had the spaghetti with meat sauce and my husband had the shrimp poboy. They were both bland and not very flavorful. The only reason they got 1 star is because their pasta sauce was very meaty. I will never return here.

I got a club salad. The lady can be rude, but her husband (I'm assuming) is super lazy and an a-hole to her and he doesn't want to work so I understand why she takes her frustration out in rudeness. I can't say if I'll be back and it's not cuz of her mainly cuz I don't feel comfortable eating that food. My stomach is still rumbling. I chose it mainly cuz it was literally next door to the crappy hotel we are staying at, walking distance. Next time I'll choose a better hotel so there will be a better chance of better restaurants. Did I use the word better enough? Lol anyway I hope the best for that lady she had a gorgeous smile the few times I saw it :)

Real dive of a place next to the Extended Stay America. Went for dinner last week during my stay and definitely was underwhelmed. Food was ok but the service and atmosphere are pretty terrible. Waitress definitely didn't seem to want to be bothered with anything except her phone. Woman behind the bar who took my order was a little better. After my food arrived neither asked me how it was, if I needed anything else, or made any attempt to communicate with me. Very awkward given how small the place is and how close proximity we were to each other. One positive was the mixed drink the woman behind the bar made me was strong.

Came here for a good lunch sandwich. Roast Beef Poboy was great. Drinks were top notch. Awesome Bartender/ waitress.

I gave Cajun Grill and Bar only three stars because I am mixed about the place. Unless you're a regular in the place you know the routine. My main is issue was the lack of friendliness from the staff. Which got worse when I presented a coupon. I get it "some" people don't have proper tipping etiquette but not everyone should be treated as such. My problem was while trying to read my receipt to determine my proper tip on the pre discounted balance she took the receipt and credit card ..... At this point its a guessing game based on service. Let's discuss food!! We ordered the cheese gravy fries - a typical bar food item. They were as expected but I was not disappointed. We also ordered-the combo po boy as well as catfish and shrimp plate. Quantity was more then expected quality was delicious. Really not bad at all considering "seafood" at a bar. I was full and satisfied - the attitude/service really really runs me wrong.
