Literally the worst service I've ever had!!! First i'll start off saying i've been in the service industry for 15 years so i am probably more forgiving for minors slip-ups than most people b/c stuff happens. Now for last night at Caffe Fresca...it was a Saturday dinner shift (around 6). We got seated pretty fast, but did not get greeted for a good 5-7 minutes. It was 2 waitresses that finally showed up, i assume one was training. We got our drink orders taken and they disappeared for another 5-7 minutes then the blonde came back with the wrong drinks, she forgot my bf's tea and gave him a diet coke. Finally get the right drinks, so they start rumbling off specials after the older waitress took a jab at the younger trainee saying she forgot to mention them. We asked a few questions about the menu and the specials which were answered with attitude by the older waitress, the younger one seemed nice enough though. I ordered the house salad and my bf the special, they came out relatively fast. The special, trout almadine, wasn't very flavorful and a tad dry. My house salad with the house dressing was very good, but it was supposed to come with avocado (which was the selling point for me) and it wasn't on the salad so i asked the older waitress for it when i could get her attention HALF WAY THROUGH MY SALAD!! Thats right, she didn't come back around for a good 15 minutes to check on us. By this time both of our drinks were empty and had been for a good while, and we had to ASK her to fill them, she didn't do it on her own. At the same time is when i asked for the avocado which had been left off, she comes back with half of an avocado still in the shell!! I've never seen such a thing, i would think it would come out pre-cut on a side plate for me. i had to scoop it out with my fork and cut it up myself!! We finished our meal and waited and waited and waited for togo boxes. We finally got the lady busser to get them for us and also asked her to get our check for us because the older waitress never came back, not to mention i hadn't seen the blonde one since she brought us the wrong drinks! The guy bartender ended up bringing us our check, which seemed strange to me, like our waitress had given up on our table because she got seated a 7 top. Needless to say her tip wasn't very high, we left 10% eventhough she didn't even deserve that. (sidenote: my philosophy is you start at 25% and work yourself down!!) We will never be back!! The waitress name on our check was Connie so i'm assuming she was the older waitress, she needs to get out the business because she's obviously over it and bitter!!!

Have been here several times and food always good. Service so-so but ok. Tonight we both ordered shrimp and artichoke soup (outstanding) and the shrimp stuffed bell pepper which came with pasta and marinara sauce. The peppers were delicious but the pasta had a distinct metallic taste. We told the waitress who then told management. We complimented him on the other food but told him we both noticed an off taste in the pasta. His reply was ,"well don't get the pasta next time". I promise there will not be a next time.

Great food, reasonable prices. The pasta dishes are fabulous and the salads are tremendous. One of the BEST restaurants in the area.

This place can hit the spot any time of the day. Their soups and house made salad dressings are fantastic. Each sandwich is made on the freshest bread. Bring a jacket, it's freezing. Go next door for breakfast and some of the finest coffee in New Orleans. Buy a bag to take home if you fancy!!

I ate here with some girlfriends last night. The food was delicious. Our server, however, was preoccupied and seemed annoyed at her tables and any requests such as drink refills. We ordered the eggplant sticks which came with tasty marinara sauce. The shrimp avocado wrap and the alive with grilled chicken were great and filling without being too much food. Our friend ordered the tuna steak seared and loved it too! We will be back but hopefully have another server!

Cafe Fresca is a really nice restaurant, though you wouldn't guess it from the outside. Sitting in a pretty empty strip mall, you are amazed by the decor when you walk in. The staff are not the friendliest-- or maybe they are. I couldn't really tell. The server seemed annoyed to take my drink order but then called me honey. I make it a point to say please and thank you, so maybe she warmed up after I made an attempt to be friendly. So the food is alright. We order crab cakes to start, which were pretty delicious! I then ordered the muffelata because I was curious. Um, so definitely only order the half. Unless you are sharing a whole one with a small village, the half is more than enough. Really, it is too much for person since it comes with french fries. I easily at half of my entree and took the rest home. Lunch time gets pretty busy. It is nice to see that this place has such a large following. My food wasn't that amazing, but clearly something keeps all these people coming back.

Cafe Fresca used to be my favorite place to eat back when it was a "cafe". It was open 24/7, always had great service, amazing coffee and fantastic food! After giving them many chances, I will never eat there again. I don't know if there are new owners who converted to a restaurant or what but they are doing a horrible job. Food has been awful and the service just as bad. I just attempted to make a to go order there and the person on the phone was so rude that I told them not to worry about it. So long Cafe Fresca! You just lost another customer, I'm sure one of many. Oh and the one star is for the only good thing left there, the white chocolate granitas. Update: Ordered a chicken salad sandwich on croissant because I was starving and I live super close (even though I swore I'd never eat there again). Its really hard to mess up a chicken salad sandwich and they used to be really good. My croissant was ROCK hard....couldn't even eat it.

This place is much nicer on the inside than you would assume from its drab old strip mall exterior. The food trends more on the expensive side for what it is with basic sandwiches, salads, soups, pastas and steaks. They have a good burger that is nice sized but it comes with potato chips and fries are an up charge. Cafe Fresca also has changing daily specials but many of them don't seem like good values. The best value here is probably the 2 can dine for $20 deal and that's definitely the way to go if you plan on eating here.

Also, ask for Chris to be your waiter! He was excellent! I took off one star because my Alive pita sandwich was meh. I should have gotten chicken added. Plus i complained that i didn't have many chips but Chris nicely explained it was a bag of Zapps so i shut up and enjoyed them bc i LOVE Zapps! hehe...But usually I get the portabello mushroom sandwich and love it. In addition, although there is a parking lot during peak hours this place is jam packed and the parking lot is tight and people are fighting for spots like scenes from the movie the Gladiator! Hehe Anywho, Chris was probably one of the best servers I have ever had. Turns out he used to be the manager at Russell's Grill. I could see him out of the corner of my eye checking on our table and anticipating our needs. He kept our drinks filled, had my box ready once is topped eating, asked if I wanted a to go cup since their cold drinks are HUGE! :) I said no but immediately got jealous when I returned from the bath room and saw my brother with a to go cup and asked for one and he complied! I even walked hp and told the manager Jared that Chris was an Awesome server. He confided that Chris was one of the best servers he had! Hehe...this is the kind of service I'm used to receiving at a five star restaurant like Commander's where they scoop up your crumbs with that little scoopy thingy. Btw, where can I get one of those? I'm totally OCD and want one for when I dine out! Like seriously, don't judge! I'm so OCD that I stack plates to make it easier for the waiter. So much so that one waiter asked me if I was a waiter. Hehe...may, I'm just weird! :) Back to the food, My brother usually orders the café fresca salad With the house dressing. Now I don't know what they put in that house dressing but it is amazing! I asked for my own side order of the house dressing so I can get my sandwich, chips and everything I could get my hands on in it. Now y'all know that I love my sauces and this is one of the best freaking sauces in the city of New Orleans! For some reason my brother always orders better food than I do no matter what, it's like a curse! It was no exception that night. He was feeling sick so he deviated from his regular salad and ordered the half chicken salad sandwich, half spinach artichoke soup and House house salad with the house dressing. And darn it all to heck and back his sandwich was delicious! Oh well I can't win them all! There is a nice bar on the side as well. It feels like a local neighborhood joint that everyone knows about. I saw families, a large table of ladies (they must have made ladies night happy hour, so jealous!), etc. plus they have groupons which is why we were there! This is a great location to get yummy healthy food. Plus we just missed happy hour for ladies! Happy eating!

I'm sad to say that I will not be returning to Cafe Fresca, at least not for a while. This used to be a weekly lunch spot for me so it really bums me out. Ever since they got all fancy and moved next store and got a host stand their food has not been nearly as good. They used to have my favorite chicken salad for the reason it was plentiful and not drenched in mayo. Now it's less chicken and more mayo, yuck. But what really drew the line was when I was served raw chicken. I mean pink fleshy chicken. The waitress looked shocked when I showed her and apologized and took it to the back for a remake. To my disappointment, the sandwich wasn't remade the chicken was now cooked thoroughly, but the avocado had now browned the bread was cold. They were not busy so I wasn't sure what the rush was. The service is always great, the kitchen seems to be slacking off.

Groupon and Yelp should team up (if they haven't already.. but I think they might've kind of?) cause whenever I see a Groupon, the first thing I do is Yelp the business xD Anyway, maybe I'm just not too keen on American food (I know the restaurant's listed under Italian, our meal was pretty American with a grilled chicken sandwich, filet, sweet potato fries, and red bean soup), but this place is less than impressive :/ Main thing I noticed is that the food was overall pretty bland... the red bean and rice soup didn't really taste like anything else except mashed beans, the sweet potato fries didn't stand on their own without a condiment, and my the chicken in my chicken sandwich seriously lacked seasoning. With that said though, their HONEY MUSTARD is definitely the savior. Sweet with a nice kick from the mustard, we finished almost everything (despite the lack of flavor) just to eat stuff with the honey mustard.

And the Cafe of the Year award goes to...... I've been frequenting this place for years. They were 24hrs before the storm and served the best breakfast around! Very creole and soulful especially for the W. Metarie area. The lunch/dinner menu is always a winner! They have daily specials which include; redbeans and rice, meatballs and spaghetti, eggplant fresca, fried fish and crabcakes. Never a disappointment for me here. The eggplant fresca is prepared with a fried eggplant stuffed with shrimp, mushrooms and a yummy sauce over angel hair pasta. For you healthy yelpers they also have a sugar buster menu! Enjoy and tell em I sent ya!

Love the new location- 2 doors down. I was always a fan..it used to be more cafesque now it looks like a restaurant. Great for a day date or just chilling at the bar. Cafe Fresca offers way more options for dinner- Yall: there is a bar now! I really enjoy the salad and house honey mustard. Italian stuffed artichoke is always a good companion with a splash of lemon. Check it out Yelpies Cafe Fresca es muy bueno!

I had Cafe Fresca for lunch today for the first time. To be fair, it was purchased by my employer, so I didn't pay for it.. and everything tastes better when it's free.. so I'm taking that into consideration. I can't remember the name of what I had, but it was a low-fat sandwich with chicken, eggplant, other veggies, and some delightful honey mustard sauce on a pita. Wow. That was the best "healthy" sandwich I have had in a long time! The side salad that came with it was nothing too special, but the vinagarette dressing made it spectacular. The portions were huge for lunch too... I'm saving some for later on in the work day. I'll be back.. even if it's not on my employer's dime :)

I used a Groupon for dinner tonight and I'll let you know up front that I'm only giving them 3 stars because the filet that I ordered medium came out very well done and the service was a little lacking for the small crowd that they had. Now, I'll admit that when they brought out my filet cooked to perfection the 2nd time, I was impressed. It had a nice cross hash marking on both sides and was seasoned wonderfully. It's only a 6 ounce but having also consumed a dinner roll, some sweet potato fries and an unimpressive fruit bowl, I ate the whole filet. I have another Groupon for Cafe Fresca that I will need to use within the next few months and I think I'll try them for lunch next time and hope that I have an experience that will be deserving of 5 stars.

Went yesterday with 3 other co workers around 8pm. Nice place, and didnt have to wait for a table which was nice. Everything else sucked. Our waitress was new and was complete trainwreck. Drinks refills were far and few in between, refills were of the wrong drinks. One co worker ordered a burger with fries but got chips served instead. Another one had a steak that didnt taste right, meat seemed tainted. He only ate 1 bite, for real one bite and sent it back. The manager did at least offer something to make it right but too much damage had been done. I dont think we'll be going back. The owner used to be at the front desk. I didnt see him, which makes me wonder if its been sold to another person. We will however be trying That's Amore which is right next door.

Eh. Nothing special at all! The burger is good but not great. The fries aren't very good at all. The muffuletta is as usual huge and not spectacular. I wouldn't go back. Three stars because service was good, but food was eh.

Tried Cafe Fresca for the first time tonight and it was fantastic. My husband tried the red bean and rice special with pork chops and it was two HUGE crispy fried (but not greasy) pork chops and a whole heaping plate of red beans and rice with sausage. He didnt wanna stop eating it because it was so good. I had the burger....perfect. And Im kind of a burger snob, I used to have a blog about them and Im pretty sure I know a good one( or a crappy on). Id say its up there with the burger at bonefish. I expected the pita and cheese to be a little boring but I just wanted something while I waited for my food, it was really not bland at all and it took alot of control to not snarf it all down to leave room for my dinner :) Ive heard ishy things about the service here but we had Chris and he was super friendly and totally patient with us even though we took forever to decide what we wanted and ordered tap water to drink (sometimes thats a sign of a cheapskate and a clue to servers about who NOT to expect a good tip from!)

The new restaurant format (the other end of the building the old location was in) is great. It's a lot fancier than the old cafe style restaurant we had frequented over the years. My wife tends to pop in with girlfriends for lunch. She has several favorite sandwiches and salads. I visit more for dinner which has a slightly different menu. Last weekend we stopped in on Saturday night. I ordered the butterflied shrimp. Asked for it fried although they will serve them grilled if you want to eat healthy. The plate also comes with a crawfish cake. (I don't think there is an option to have that grilled). Had the seasoned french fries (although I had meant to ask for the sweet potatoes fries but I don't know where my mind was when I answered the waitress, maybe looking at the new bar.) My wife likes their Eggplant Fresca (fried eggplant with shrimp and crawfish stuffing) but decided to try something different. She ordered the 6oz fillet special with the sauteed asparagus and steamed broccoli as the sides. She was quite happy with the meal. The steak was cooked right. Always a big concern. Service was good.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
