I've been to this restaurant many times over the years, and I end with the same feeling; meh. I have tried their pizzas, calzones, and pastas, and they are all forgettable. The crusts on the pizzas and calzones are consistently tough. It kind of tastes like flash frozen crust, reheated. This restaurant may be an acquired taste on my part, though. It appears that the restaurant is doing well, and have a recurring clientele. Give them a try. Just don't expect to taste homemade pasta or high quality ingredients like you would at a high-end Italian restaurant.

I should have gone to pizza hut. Ordered spaghetti and Italian sausage with garlic bread. Bread was hard and seemed recycled from a previous meal. Angel hair was gummy and overcooked. Nothing was good. Very disappointed as I like supporting nearby businesses but this was awful

The food was delivered fast but it wasn't seasoned very well. My Alfredo pasta was bland for my taste and the chicken was whole instead of cut up. I also tired the cannoli but it was cold... And lack flavor. The salad was basic. And the specialty sandwich was good and filling.

This is an awesome pizza place. Very welcoming and feels like you're in another country. Service was great. The food is good but reminds me of a pizza from the box.

Best thing on menu are the waffle fries. Sandwiches are greasy, cheap tasting meats and ingredients, and the last time we dined in the pasta tasted like they were boiled in dish soup. Seriously. Pizza is decent though pricey for the quality.

Specialty is one of the best Italian food restaurants on the west bank. Located in what I believe was an old fast food restaurant (KFC maybe?), I had never thought about dining here till a friend suggested it. I am glad I listed to the recommendation because this place is great. We arrived at an odd time due to scheduling issues so the restaurant was mostly empty. The hostess immediately greeted us, and was very friendly. She even tolerated my silly jokes about the westbank. I started with french onion soup in their "mini" size. The mini is a coffee cup which made drinking all of the tasty broth much easier than if it had been in a traditional bowl. I realize french onion soup is not traditional Italian fare, but their version was very good. My friend and I split an order of manicotti that was wonderful. This was among the best versions of manicotti I have ever tried. I highly recommend splitting an entree unless you want leftovers. Each entree comes with a salad and small cheese pizza (cheese bread) and portions are quite large. I really enjoyed this restaurant. If you're on the west bank and want great Italian food coupled with friendly service, I recommend you give Specialty a try.

Was excited about going to Italian Bistro and Pizza based on photos and reviews. Looking forward to Spaghetti and Meatballs. They had special for Chicken Picatta, changed my mind. Chicken picatta was not traditional, basically fried chicken breast, bland lemon butter sauce. Should have stuck with first choice.

Good Italian food and service. Good prices and they have a really good marinara and pizza sauce! Never had a bad meal or experience here!

Not often do you find a place that's willing to help you put a smile on someone's face and fill their belly at the same time. They went out of their way to take a last minute order, prepare my order while dealing with a large catering order and deliver on time. Not to mention adding a special note. I ordered the Vegetarian Sandwich and the Shrimp & Artichoke Bisque. I was told it was delicious. It was a pleasant surprise. I will make it a point to drop in on my next visit to New Orleans. We all appreciate good service. Well, this was great service!

First time at a new Italian restaurant, I always order the spaghetti and meatballs. That's where it all starts. If the spaghetti doesn't blow you away then chances are nothing else on the menu will either. That can be said for Specialty. The marinara sauce taste out of a can with a couple of spices and bell peppers thrown in. The meatballs are small but they were the best thing on the plate. The garlic cheese bread is good. Just average Italian food. Try if you have a coupon.

Pepperoni pizza was average at best. Similar to Chucky Cheese's.. Hawaiian pizza was ok. I guess my expectations were too high. Can't comment on customer service because I ordered take out.

Pretty good. Not 5 stars good in my opinion, but good (and probably the best on the Westbank). I'm still feeling quite full after this dinner. I purchased one of those 1/2 price deals, so keep in mind that I didn't pay full price (and thus probably ordered more than I normally would have). This gave my family a good opportunity to try out a variety of dishes. On Tuesday & Wednesday from 5-9pm, they have 2 for 1 wine specials, which is awesome. Italian food requires wine. With the wine, we ordered an appetizer of artichoke bread. Good concept, but kind of lacking in any sort of flavor, which was disappointing. My fiance also had a mini cup of soup... not the french onion, but some sort of bisque, which he said was good. I had a salad, as it came with my entree. The dressing is very good and the salad is loaded with cheese. Entrees... the kiddo had a pepperoni pizza, which for about $5 was more than enough to feed a grown adult. We took most of it home. The fiance had a calzone, which looked overcooked but he said it was actually quite perfect. I tried the lasagna. Again, a huge portion, but it was delicious. This was accompanied by "cheese bread," which is essentially a kid-size pizza but with garlic sauce instead of red sauce. We took most of that home as well. The service was very welcoming and helpful. We didn't have any room for dessert, but the dessert case was enticing. Overall, the food was good, and I would definitely return. It's a great value for your money, with most entrees priced at $12 or less, and they come with the bread + salad. I will certainly return when I'm craving Italian and too lazy to cook!

This is THE place to go for some good food especially Italian food. We discovered this place while visiting New Orleans. The service was top notch and it was an intimate setting and not very busy. Food wise, it has been a challenge to find food that does not contain red meat while in NO. I had the Chicken Parmesan at this restaurant. It was AMAZING!!! I didn't realize it came with a side salad AND cheese bread which was fantastic!!! I had more than enough food because I decided to try the Mediterranean waffle fries. I am in love with this place. If I return to New Orleans this will be on the list of places to try.

Amazing. I've passed this place hundreds of times, but had never tried it until recently! The food here was great. For a starter, I got a "mini" French onion soup. It came served in what was basically a coffee cup and was a perfect appetizer. The soup wasn't anything fancy, but it was hot and cheesy and I really liked it. My friend and I decided to split an entree. We got the manicotti, which came with a salad and cheese bread. It was delicious. Splitting the entree was a really good idea, because coupled with the bread, it was the perfect amount of food, since we were going somewhere and didn't want to have to deal with leftovers. They had an assorted sandwich menu and I really want to go back and try some of the other food they have. Their menu is well priced and you definitely get your money's worth, when you get dinner here.

After reading such rave review about this place I decided to stop in. Like most users that rated this place I pass this location hundreds of times and never noticed it. The decor is very homey like with lovely soft music playing. Both times I went I had amazing service, so compliments to the waitress there. They were around when you need refills and left you long enough to enjoy your meal without interrupting. I give the food 3 stars. The extra star was for their service. You can't beat the price of an entree when it comes with free cheese bread + salad for under $20. I really like the sauce they use on their pasta dishes, but there wasn't really any WOW factor. All together I enjoy this place. It's better than most restaurants around the area and I see myself coming back here again in the future.

If you're looking for great Italian food, this is THE PLACE to be! The servers are very acknowledgeable. The managers are very well known and absolutely welcoming. They do anything possible to insure you've had a great time! Also, the hostess is very welcoming and the food itself is delicious. The atmosphere is nice. The decorations and music fits very well to the whole "Italian" theme. All entrees come with a house salad (mixed lettuce topped with moz cheese) and a mini garlic cheese bread (six slices.) I've tried every single one of their salads, which all tasted absolutely wonderful. There's such a big selection to choose from. All of the dressings are made in the restaurant by the managers. There's pepper jelly vingerette, caesar, parmesan peppercorn, honey mustard, and the house dressing- creamy italian. Another great thing is that the pizza and sandwich dough are made fresh daily! My favorites would be: BLT PIZZA: cheese pizza with bacon bites, then topped with lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo. At first I was a little iffy about ordering it, but once my boyfriend and I tried it, it became our favorite! SMOKED TURKEY SANDWICH: handmade dough, moz cheese, smoked turkey and dressed (only if you want). I usually get my sandwich dressed with lettuce and light mayo. I also get light cheese. SEAFOOD GUMBO: Rice with seafood gumbo. Their gumbo is absolutely delicious, although a little overpriced. The gumbo is literally made from scratch! PLAIN CANOLI: the plain canoli is a MUST try! I've pretty much had everything on the menu. The best thing about Specialty is that everything is AUTHENTIC Italian! They also sell Gumbo, Seafood Platters, and chicken tenders.

My expectations were really low because I've never heard of this place. The name is kind of weird, and the building looks like it could have been a fast food joint at one time. However, I was pleasantly surprised with my Boretti Italian beer, and my sizeable plate of Chicken Parmesan. I was starving, and the food really hit the spot. My dad lives on the Westbank and says that he finds coupons to this place from time to time. I look forward to going back. The garlic cheese bread that comes with the meal is a bonus!

I was vacationing from Orlando and wanted to find an Italian restaurant. I was very disappointed. I love going to different t restaurants to eat chicken parm to see how good it is. In almost all restaurants, chicken parm is breaded fried or baked chicken covered in cheese w sauce. To my surprise, this restaurant served marinated chicken breast like u would have on a grilled chicken sandwich with cheese and sauce. So disgusting... When I mentioned this to the server she could care less. Now I'm not without blame as it is stated this way on the menu...but u would think servers would warn you. I would never go back there.

I am so amazed at the level of genuine customer engagement I have received from this place. I experienced a minor problem 8:40pm, mind you closing time is 9:00pm. I crave this place so when I order it, its got to be right. I work in restaurant/ retail and expect spectacular customer service. I know mistakes happen, but its the experience that keeps me coming back. I could have screamed when I did not receive my extra side of red gravy!!! My meal was ruined and I did not feel like arguing to receive the level of service I expected. My meal was $15+$2 tip and I felt despair. Needless to say, TROY you went above and beyond the level of service. You role model the behavior. You have just engaged a life time customer. Thank you for making my dinner complete. I will happily support your establishment. Side of sauce $1.00 Remake a $15 calzone Labor hours allocated past normal closing time$? Redeliver the meal$? food cost? Most business see this as a loss. You have just gained a loyal lifetime customer, who will tell as many guest as I can about my positive experience. Thank you for making me feel appreciated, your compassion and sense of urgency is commended. Please visit IB, where they value you as a guest, not just another $.

The food was excellent! Inexpensive and tasty. I never knew this place even existed considering I live around the corner from it. The shrimp and artichoke bisque was creamy and delicious. I tried both eggplant parmesan and spaghetti&meatballs and enjoyed it very much. They were good-sized portions and also came with a side salad and a big ole cheese pizza! That thing alone could fill you up! This place is a must try! Will definitely come back for my Italian fix.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
