**Writing this review from the "John"** Why do I always punish myself like this? Every time I go to an IHOP it is usually out of weakness, coercion or desperation (or a weird combination of those 3). Different states. Different cities. Different neighborhoods. The outcome is always the same. Pain. Regret. Disgust. All lasting for more than 1 day. This particular location is, lets say, special. To say the least. Hence my location while writing this review.

Service was excellent. Yvette was our waitress and she was very warm and welcoming. Accommodated all our needs fast and efficiently. Place was clean and food was good!

Lately the service has been horrible. I feel like I'm bothering the servers simply by showing up. Food is a gamble u may or may not get what you order. I can't see how they stay in business since I never see any customers here.

Tonight, the food was better than usual. Maybe because when we arrived, there were no other customers in the restaurant. The cook prepared our food well, the food was hot, and came out quickly. Our server was friendly, took our orders without writing it down, and got the orders correct. She checked on us regularly, which is normally rare at this ihop. I had free pancakes to redeem, but it wasn't taken off my check. The manager was as friendly as my server and corrected the check with no problem. The restrooms were clean and smelled fresh (a big deal to me)! Update: This morning, I checked my checking account and saw that I was charged more money than what I wrote on my receipt as my waitress's tip. Immediately, I contacted the manager at this Ihop. He said he couldn't "reverse the charge, but to come to back" and he "will take care of me; they have new people who don't know what they're doing." I'm contacting corporate because I don't tolerate theives. Usually, I tip in cash, but last night, I didn't have any cash on me. This situation bothers me; I don't care if I was charged $2 or $20 more, if that's not what I wrote on the receipt, don't take it!! My review went from 3 stars to 1, only because I can't put 0 stars.

This is the absolute worst service I've ever experienced. 30 minutes for a water, 45 minutes to take our order and I saw a hostess drop silverware on the floor and then place it back in the silverware basket. Avoid this place like the plague.

I went to IHOP this morning. It took 15 minutes for a waitress to take our orders and another 5 minutes for our drinks to arrive: it took 20 minutes for us to get our drinks. It was not like they were busy since there were only four tables. We never got refills. My glass set empty for 30 minutes and I had to eat my breakfast without a drink. Our food was okay. When it came to pay, it took us asking three times for us to finally get our bill so we could pay in leave. I usually tip 15% or $5, which ever is higher. Our bill was something $19.32. For good service, I would have left a five dollar tip (five dollar was bigger than 15%). But because the waitress did such a terrible job, I gave the waitress a $20 bill and told her to keep the change (a $0.68 tip).

A 4 star review for a Westbank IHOP may come as a shock to some of you. Believe me, I'm shocked to be writing it for you! It's been almost a year since we've been to this location since my husband despises them, but I think that changed today. Granted some things are still the same, but they seem to have made a few changes. It seems they have added a lot of new items to the menu that look great, we already plan on going back soon to try some of them. I'm particularly interested in the whole wheat blueberry pancakes. The menus have also been updated and are a lot more appealing and easy to navigate. I know, it doesn't take a genius to read a menu, I guess what I'm saying is that it's simplified. It's not just pages of text, there are more photos of the food (always a good thing) and meals are better grouped together. The service was better than we expected based on our past visits. There is still a bit of that "I hate this job" atmosphere, but our server was more attentive than usual and helped us get our 1 year old's food out early and get her set up. For the food- today I had the biscuits and gravy combo (2 biscuits cut in half with white gravy, 4 sausage links, eggs and hash browns. It was pretty good, half is sitting in the fridge for lunch. My husband had the western omelet and said he enjoyed it. We also shared a stack of strawberry banana pancakes which were good. Overall, things went great this morning. I don't know if we just happen to have an exceptional experience, or if they really made an effort to change things up, but we'll be back.

Hats off to the fine staff at the Terrytown store. It's not often I write a review for a chain. But the staff, and management at this IHOP have turned this store around 360. Good friendly service, good food, clean spot less store! IHOP stores @ Manhattan, Williams Blvd should take a lesson from these guys!

Sunday morning. While killing time before a home viewing, we stopped there because we both were dying for food. 9am Had an appointment at 10:30 am. Had to leave because while being seated the instant we walked in (9am) by by 9:30, we hadn't even received our coffee..And had no opportunity to place our order. As we walked out, the hostess thanked us for our business. When we mentioned we hadn't been able to even order, she was speechless.

This IHOP is not my favorite. The food is decent but the service is often overwhelmed and unprofessional. This particular time, I got the moons over my hammy sandwich, water and an orange juice. They never brought the juice but charged me for it. The sandwich was huge which I know sounds like a good thing, but it was like too much. I've had this sandwich at several other locations and it was much better. This was greasy bread with a lot of ham and even more piles of unseasoned egg. Meh.

Incredibly sweet waitress named Myra worked hard to handle her section and always with a smile on her face. Food is...well it's ihop! You know what you're getting into: mass produced diner fare that is cheap and sometimes satisfying. Ordered one of only TWO items on menu under 600 calories: the spinach omelette with tomato mushroom and Swiss. Perfectly fine, but wouldn't come here just for it. Disappointed to see that ihop got rid of their heathy options.

This IHOP location is severely mismanaged. It used to be that at any time breakfast was being served, there was a long wait for a table. Now, there's no wait at all. This may seem like a good thing, but it's due to the decline in business. Upon being seated and given menus, we were ignored for a full 30 minutes. After finally placing our order, they brought out something completely different from what we had ordered. They seemed very confused and didn't seem to have any way of tracking what we had ordered, or where the food coming from the kitchen was supposed to go. When they finally brought out the correct order, it wasn't actually as it had been ordered. My son had asked very specifically for no onions or sour cream on his omelet. It was loaded with both. Once again, the response was completely cluelessness. This location is understaffed, and the people who are working there seem to have an inability to communicate, either with the customer or with other employees. The manager is completely useless, as all he seems to be able to do is offer a half-hearted apology. This is the second time we've had an experience like this at that location. No offer was made to take the inedible food off of the bill. This will be our last time visiting this location.

It took one hour after our order was taken to receive our meal. It wasn't busy. We were one of 3 tables in this area of the restaurant. When we finally got the food, my order was wrong. The customers next to us complained about mold on their toast. I will definitely not return to this IHOP.

The food was okay. The food was not warm, thus the 3 stars. The waitress was a little slow, it was very busy so I'm sure she did the best she could. The overall taste was typical IHOP food.

Because i grew up with the notion that IHOP was only for road trips and church functions, I am always surprised when friends suggest it for dinner but I've never left disappointed... If not overstuffed. As the name implies, this place does pancakes just phenomenally, and they will put anything on em!

My boyfriend and I arrived around 1 very hungry having not had anything to eat all morning. We immediately found what we wanted to order. The iced coffee I got was gritty and felt like chalk on my tongue. I asked for a glass of water and then had to ask two more times after waiting 15 minutes to get it. We didn't get any food until 1:45 and BOTH our meals AND the appetizer were wrong. We proceeded to wait another 30 minutes for them to fix our meals only for them to bring it back still wrong. My boyfriend's was fixed right away while I on the other hand waited for a while to get a couple onions on my burger that were supposed to come on it in the first place. I had also asked for some mayonnaise 3 times but did not receive the onions or mayo until I had already finished my meal. I overheard two separate parties sitting next to us also saying they had waited over an hour just for some pancakes and for one of them they were ice cold. So I highly recommend that if you want ihop that you do not go to this one. Service is awful and the food is not what it should be.

First I would like to say I live near this ihop so its very convenient for me. It's a place where I like to take my son because he enjoys the food here. I give this ihop one star because one of the waitress was rude, un-attentive and I had to stop her to refill the drinks, bring some plates. Whatever. When it came to the bill I did not tip. Why? Because lack of service. But what happen! People think its okay to not do their job and tip any got damn way. Hell no! They lost my business and top of that I got my money back that the waitress that "served" me wrote on the cc. Sorry ihop. You lost my business because of this ignorant bitch.

Went to this location for late Sunday morning breakfast. Good staff, prompt service, and no crowd. 3 stars only because it's a huge national chain.

This is my go-to restaurants in the wee early morning after a night out or a late night snack when nothing else is open and I must say, it is horrible. The food always tastes the same and good of course. But do you mind running background checks or frequent drug tests? I came around 2AM for some breakfast. My waitress was high as a kite. I thought it was funny actually. She told me she was high, pulled out her boost mobile phone, pulled a chair next to me and sat down. Um, check please? Thanks for the entertainment though.

I wish there was a "zero star" option. There was nothing about this visit that warrants the one star that they're receiving. I am desperately craving French toast. Why am I still craving French toast, you ask? We went and were immediately seated at 11:30 on a Saturday, and I was so happy that my growling tummy was about to be satisfied! My group of three knew what we wanted within moments of being seated, so that when we placed our drink order, we could also order our breakfast. Too bad that opportunity never came. We sat, and sat. Sat some more. Wait staff walked by, saw us sitting with menus closed, no beverages in front of us, but no one ever came to take our order. I stood up, and walked to the hostess stand, and saw the manager. I said "I've been sitting for 25 minutes and no one has even taken my DRINK order!" He apologized halfheartedly (if that) and the hostess turned and gave me a dirty look. The manager did not even offer to have anyone take care of us, so we left. I'm really ANGRY! I realize that it would have been unwise to attempt to eat there after daring to complain about waiting 25 minutes (or who knows how long it could have taken?) to order, because the food would have had special, unordered spices. I was going to go to a different IHOP a few miles down the road, but I have stuff to do, I don't want to waste the whole day in my quest for French toast. I'm writing this at a restaurant across the street and all of the employees are nice and actually seem to want to provide an enjoyable meal to us. I actually feel kind of dumb, I told my husband not to say anything when we finally did get waited on, they were probably understaffed and were trying their best. As time ticked by and I observed employees walking around aimlessly, chatting with each other, and tables who were seated after us being served, while we were not, we realized that it just wasn't happening for us. I'm looking at a nice club croissant now, at the better restaurant across the street. I guess it worked out after all!

When I read all the bad reviews about that place, I wonder if we all were at the same restaurant... When I was here on a Sunday morning, the waiters were nice, polite, helpful, and the meal came quickly. However I am sure this review is a little bit biaised: my friends told me that all foreigners loooove iHop, amd they were right. A breakfast made of an omelette and pancackes is always delicious! And what an omelette! The largest I ever had to deal with, I am sure the portion was large enough for 2 or 3 people at least. Pancackes tasted good, and I had a few bites of Nutella crepes as well, totally enjoyable. I don't know when is the next time I come to iHop but I will remember it's a good place for quick, guuuuge and good breakfast.

I'm 95% sure my waitress is on crack... and that was just the tip. I hadn't been to an IHOP in a few years, and honestly I hope never to return. Being in this place seemed to represent everything that is wrong in America. Waitresses presumably on drugs, food so sweet and drenched in sugary syrups that it was inedible, terrible smells throughout the restaurant, people screaming in the kitchen at one another. The food took entirely to long to come out... and they really should not put any photos up about what the food SHOULD look like because what we were presented with was unrecognizable. 100% disgusting experience.
