Diners can be amazing food experiences. I've been in Diners that offer elaborate cakes and pastries. I've seen complete Leg of Lamb dinners offered on Diner menus. But my bottom line is just a good solid diner with simple but reliable food. Sadly, Par 3 Diner is a few strokes below par. This is not the first time I've been out for breakfast since moving to New Orleans, about 9 months ago. Strangely, the choices are sort of limited. The ubiquitous coffee shops that offer breakfast are usually trying to serve some nouvelle southern cuisine, catering to tourists or hipster foodies, (typically around $10-$12), or McDonalds, which caters to the fast food crowd that just wants to stuff some protein in their hole. The "middle-class" of the diner experience seems to be missing. Usually, when I go out for breakfast, I like to order pancakes, but I have come to learn that most places like this serve imitation Maple Syrup, which is reason enough to go with something else. I had the classic "Breakfast Special"! Two eggs, sausage or bacon, grits or hash browns, toast or biscuit. All that and coffee for under $5! At least they got this part right. Since I was alone, I sat at the counter. Usually, this is the place to sit for faster service, too. Alas, the server ignored me for a few minutes while staring at his phone. This happens more and more, everywhere, and should not be tolerated. Part of going out to eat is for the service. The other part of going out to eat is the food, of course. There was nothing really bad about the food here. Can't fault them for that, but no extra points either, since it's pretty hard to ruin a simple breakfast. The only thing I'll mention is that the grits were kind of gelatinous, not very creamy. I'd like to see this place step up it's game a bit. The area needs a good diner. Right now, they're about the only diner. The Par 3 Diner has a golf themed interior, but for the life of me, I can't find a golf course anywhere near here.

I always visit this place in the middle of the night it seems. The staff is attentive and the food is OK. I like the seafood and crab (been ordering it since pre-katrina) but the last few times I've had to send it back to be warmed more. This place is not terribly special other than they're open 24 hrs.

The food is always delicious and they are open 24 hours which is great! The hash browns are the best ones around and when we want breakfast for dinner, we go to par 3. Great food at a great price!

Food is awesome and prices are ok. The only thing is that when you order food Togo you always have to check your back bc no matter what there is always something missing.

Food seems a Little better since the last time i was here. It was lat Sunday night, i was tired hungry and didn't feel like cooking. Most restaurants in St. Bernard close early if they even open on Sundays. When we first go there, they had a nice crowd of people that disappeared shortly after. I ordered Onion rings to hold me over while i waited on my Mac & Cheese and Veal. The Mac & Cheese seem to have gotten way better from the last time i was there. It was full of flavor, cheesy and creamy just the way i like it. The Veal was pretty good, but it should have come with something else for the side. The waitress was nice and very helpful and quick to serve us. Next time its late in da Parish and i am hungry i probably will go back to Par 3.

Unique little shop. Pretty standard, I had the veal cutlet po' boy. I'm sure it's not there 'specialty' but it was pretty good. It could have had a better cajon style sauce... from what little I know about what it takes to make a good po' boy. Good sweet tea and friendly service.

Meh. Maybe it was the fact that when I ate here, it was just after a parade, but the teenagers and early twenty-somethings working at Par Three were pretty uninterested in service. I ordered a catfish po-boy for lunch, which didn't arrive terribly quickly, and wasn't impressive to boot. Po-boys aren't that tricky, so I'm not sure what went wrong. The odd thing was that Par Three was recommended by a few local bartenders, so I suspect I may have caught them at just the wrong time. Update & revision: I went back with some folks, and had a very reasonable breakfast there-- the food and service were much better than my first visit. Plus, it's open 24 hours, which is pretty darned exciting. Bumped up from two stars to three.

Today was the second time I visited this location. Its very diner-esque with golf themed decor that probably hasnt been updated in about 15 years or more. Ripped seat cushions, unorganized counters and missing golf balls in the hand made bar top will leave you only hoping the food is good. And it is. Not only is it good down home comfort food but the prices probably havent increased since the decor was updated. You can get a more than enough portion for a very reasonable price. Dont expect name brand condiments or trendy menu items. The service came with lots of typical thank ya baby and youre welcome sweetie which just added to the down home comfort. By the time we were leaving around 5:30 on a saturday, every table was filled with one waitress staying completely on top of everyones needs. Impressive to say the least. So if youre in the area and youre looking for a low key/ local cafe with good food, you have reached your destination. Enjoy ya self dawlin'
