After having worked overtime doing yard work all day Saturday, I was in the mood for a hefty He-man breakfast on Sunday morning. I begged, pleaded and cajoled until I finally convinced Ann that we needed to hop over to IHOP. I was happy to see that upon our arrival, there were only two other couples seated in the dining area. That turned out to be a misconstrued conclusion, because when we were seated by Patty, the hostess, she immediately turned us over to Gus, our waiter-in-training, who had to have his every maneuver approved by Patty. In hindsight, we should have prepared ourselves for a extended stay when Gus delivered an empty teapot for the hot tea. To expedite matters, we ordered straight from the Breakfast Menu. Ann went for the Breakfast Sampler and I chose the Sirloin Tips & Two Eggs, and we asked that our orders look just like the pictures on the menu, with the eggs over easy. The only modifications were that we asked to substitute grits for our Hash Browns, and I asked to have pecans added to my pancakes. We sat watching for 45 minutes, as another more experienced waitress expertly dispatched the two couples that were already seated when we arrived, as well as a party of three that arrived after us, and began serving a a group of nine or ten nursing students that also came in after us. When our food arrived, we soon discovered that the table for two where we were seated would not accommodate the various plates, cups and glasses without removing some of the condiments to the vacant adjacent table. One issue was that our grits were served in bowls on the side, and the Hash Browns were still included with our meals. The grits were lukewarm, watery and bland. When I told Patty about the grits being watery enough to drink through a straw, she said that the cook had only just cooked the grits and the grits had not had enough time to stiffen. I felt as though the grits should not have been served if they were not ready to eat. The Sirloin Tips with mushrooms and grilled onions was the sole redeeming factor to this experience for me, as the dish was sweet and savory, just as advertised. Perhaps the downside to this event was the fact that there was a cold front that came in overnight and the air conditioning inside was so cold that none of my food was warm enough. My fluffy buttermilk pancakes looked great with an extra scoop of pecans sprinkled over them, but it was so cold inside that the dollop of butter on top refused to melt, and I had to place it in between the two pancakes to melt it. The dispenser cap on the butter pecan syrup at our table was broken, and the when our waiter Gus replaced it with one from the adjacent table, it was unable to pour because it was so cold. I guess there was an overall saving grace to this experience, in that I was so frustrated when I left there, I went over to my sister's house and spent the day working in her yard, working off my frustration.

My mom really wanted IHOP pancakes on Mother's Day. Weird, I know. But she was getting whatever she wanted on her day. Anyway, we went and were not overly pleased with our experience. The service was poor - it took forever and I got the wrong side with my sandwich (fries, I wanted fruit). The waitress did bring me fruit after the fact though, and didn't charge for it. So at least they got that right. My brothers chicken fried steak was pretty average, and my mom's food was also mediocre. She ended up with bacon, sausage, and hashbrowns. No pancakes. Again, weird. But such is life. Probably won't go back if I can help it.

Went here for breakfast since past experiences at other IHOPs were pleasant. Sat down and waited for almost 50 minutes to receive our food. Crepes were undercooked. Waitress was dirty, slow and apathetic. It was also around 9:00 A.M. And the restaurant was in crowded and there were approximately 15-10 customers including our table of 5. Asked to speak to a manager and he/she never came out. Never received any type of apology, discount, or any other courtesy for the poor service and food. Will never come back to this location again.

Meh...that's about right for this IHOP...just meh... In the tradition of rating places on what they are, I'm not going to go into things like comparing the food or service to fancier restaurants... but this IHOP on this particular visit just wasn't even up to par for a basic chain restaurant. It wasn't *horrible* per se...just annoying enough not to rate an A-OK from me. The food was fine and the staff was friendly- which is why they got their two stars ...this wasn't a completely horrible avoid-at-all-costs kinda experience. If grandma insists on coming here again, hey, she's the one paying so we go where she says, y'know... Meanwhile- these were the problems: - sloooowwww food preparation. The waitress wasn't bad- she came to the table quickly and took the orders and everything just fine...but the kitchen took for-freakin-ever. We dine with a preschooler and he gets antsy when he's hungry and we have to wait an excessively long time for the food. This isn't gourmet stuff here and it should not take 30-40 minutes to prepare it. - they were out of half the stuff I actually wanted- popular normal stuff, not obscure stuff. Chicken and waffles- out Mozzarella sticks- out Lemonade- out...and they were advertising special new flavored lemonades as a big promo thing right now... they should be stocking up on that stuff if they're gonna be promoting it! - just one crayon for the kid...ok, so this is a bit picky, but pretty much everywhere else gives kids something like 3-4 crayons in a little pack with the coloring-sheet kids menu or activity page or whatever. At least if he had other colors, he might have been less "where's the food? mama, I'm hungry" and more "look, I colored this green AND blue!" I cannot explain the salve to my sanity that an extra 2-3 crayons could have accomplished... but alas, all we got was a single lonely green crayon... The verdict- I'll probably end up giving this IHOP another chance just because my grandmother (kiddo's great grandma) likes the place and this is the closest one to her house so it's super-convenient when she wants to dine with me and the munchkin. But I'm likely to suggest other grandma-friendly options to her instead or try to convince her to go to one of the other locations first. Next time, though, I'll bring my own crayons.

I'm over chewing... but I love food breakfast food. And give me an IHOP &&& ummmmmm well I'm good. No really I LOVE BREAKFAST FOOD!!!! This IHOP is located in St Bernard Parish in a strip mall on the edge of the parking lot. The food was IHOP good & the service was a little lackluster. We sat long enough for the server to clear the table when we were finished... but she didn't & at some point we asked her to do so &&&&&& she didn't. So yeah. Food ok. Service, ehhhh me thinks not. Kudos for it being built, because I HEART IHOP!!!!! But the service, nahhhhhh. No next time for me.

Worst experience at an ihop I have ever had. It was EMPTY for one. We were one of like 15 people in the whole plcd we waiting 10 min for menus and ended up getting them ourselves another 15 for someone to attend to us. Another customer ended up pointing out to the server that no one had attended to us and the food took FOREVER. The people next to us were even complaining that their food was cold and their sons meal was missing food. What the hell IHOP never again

I don't typically have a whole lot of good things to say about IHOP. The food is fairly good for what you pay for and usually the restaurants are packed and understaffed. My recent visit to this location in Chalmette may have changed my opinion. We went on Christmas Eve, 2013, about 10 pm. The hostess also turned out to be our waitress as well. She was extremely friendly, helpful when suggesting specials, and attentive to our needs while dining. Her name was Seimaj, ask for her if you go. She changed my mind about IHOP completely!

Went to the Chalmette IHOP this morning/afternoon. Its Sunday so I was expecting it to be busy but over an hour later we still didn't have our order. When our waitress finally came to attempt to serve us our food my over medium eggs were floating in grease, hashbrowns were burnt, steak was burnt. Other plate was just as bad. Not once during the hour wait did our waitress come tell us anything. This IHOP is the absolute worst!

Besides having very slow service and servers who are not very attentive, the pancakes were dried out and flaking in some spots and not cooked well in others. I can honestly say this was not the worst service I have ever had at an Ihop, but I CAN say this was the worst food I've ever had at an Ihop. I watched the lady to my left wait over 10 minutes to get her change and despite clearly stating I wanted water when I initially ordered, it took a second request and an additional five minutes before I got the water requested - no apologies offered. I tipped the waitress 20% and told her to keep the change and I did not get a "thank you" or a "have a good day." In fact, she didn't even acknowledge me, took the money and walked off before I could even finish saying "keep the change." On cleanliness it was okay. The silverware was spotted but didn't appear dirty and the tables appeared clean. The restaurant did not smell bad nor did it smell especially clean. I gave it two stars for its potential. Shout out to Ihop in Chalmette: "Get yo self together."
