Awesome!!! The sushi was delicious! I had the Bento Box #2. Really good deals. Fairly cheap for sushi without sacrificing quality. Brittany was super nice, helpful and very efficient. Service was quick. Don't let the word express in the name fool you into thinking it's low grade. Also, MIlitary, police, fire, EMT and teacher discount.

Being from Metairie, I'm spoiled by Sushi Express (of Metairie). They offer free delivery, use LARGE rolls, and deliver during their happy hour. Regarding Value. Bonzai Sushi Express in Chalmette pales in comparison. They don't deliver during happy hour, charge $5.00 for delivery and they make small rolls. I guess you can get away with that when there's no, local, competition. On the plus side, delivery is prompt and the food is tasty. It's just hard for me to pay so much for so little, especially when I'm spoiled when I'm at home.

It was pretty good not the best I've had by far but it was a good price..the crawfish mix was very spicy and a bit too salty for my liking tho which mad me kinda sad.. The bonzai salad tho was awesome

Stopped here after work for some sushi and I always go overboard with a new sushi place. I got the baked salmon, gyoza, egg rolls, tempura shrimp, Doritos roll, bayou roll, heavenly eel roll, special crunchy roll, and rock and roll roll. All the rolls came out looking so delicious! The only thing was that all the rolls that had avocado, I special ordered them without. Just cause I think avocados are gross and I don't want to spend half my dinner dissecting a sushi roll to get them out. Well...that's exactly what happened. They forgot to nix the avocado and I spent half my dinner dissecting rolls to get them out. Other than that, the rolls were awesome. My favorite has to be uhmmmmm all of them! The bayou roll was pretty damn awesome. The roll with eel and a mini scoop of crab salad on top omg that was like the best freaking thing ever! I will dream about that roll which I can't remember the name of right now. I didn't like the eel sauce much but I loved the other two sauces. One was a wasabi mayo and the other was something else I can't remember. Loved all the apps except the egg rolls...they were kinda blandish. But I will come back. Try more rolls. And sauces. And get fat. :) Oh and they also offer a stamp card. One stamp for each roll you get once you reach ten you get a free house roll. Awesome sauceeeeeee.

Whenever I'm in Chalmette and it's around noon, Bonzai is where I think about going. This place has always been consistent, quick, and friendly. They are fair with the serving of fish they give with their rolls. Although Umi is just down the street, I feel as though my money is well spent here.

When I visit Chalmette, I always try to stop at Bonzai. Bonzai Sushi is probably the best you can get for the price in the New Orleans area. The sushi quality is comparable to high end restaurant in the metro area and the price is hard to beat. On top of quality, they understand taste. Ingredients in each roll just work together. Spicy tuna is actually spicy, unlike other sushi restaurants. Tempura grease doesn't taste like old grease, etc. The restaurant is super casual. Costumer orders at the counter and the waitress/ waiter brings you the food. Although there is only two sushi chefs, food comes out very fast. I give them a five star simply because they are in the business to make costumers happy, not just to make money, and that makes a huge difference.

This place was OK but not really that great in the flavor department. I always judge on the California rolls because they are the easiest to make and if you mess that up well........ anyways i wouldn't go here again, but who's to stop you from going and having your own experience. Sorry Bonzai but I'm just not a fan.

The food here is awesome!!!!!! They have a new roll called big easy roll, which was deep fried but it was so good! We also got their po boy and Lsu roll. Our 2nd time here and we loved it. Family friendly restaurant, which was perfect for our little family! The food came out super fast. Glad to have this in the parish!

I am a big sushi fan and have eaten sushi in many places so I figure it's safe to say that Bonzai's sushi is the best I have had! I have eaten here since they first opened and have tried many other places before and after they opened and I can not find anywhere better! The prices are very decent and some of their rolls (Sumo, Bonzai, King, Rainbow, and more) are well worth the price and they are so large, they're all you need! At least one of my personal favorites (Philly and Heavenly Eel) usually make their way into my order, though. The Bonzai salad and snow crab salad are wonderful and I absolutely LOVE avocado, which they use on most rolls and put a few slices atop the snow crab salad. YUMM! Restaurant is very clean so are the bathrooms. Free refills on drinks, and your food can be delivered through Road Runner Delivery Service. Open Mon- Sat, closed Sundays. I definitely recommend Bonzai to everyone! I actually recommended my grand maw to eat there but she doesn't like sushi so I told her about the chicken teriyaki and she LOVED it! Her boyfriend loves sushi so he got a roll, he also liked it, though he forgot what he ordered. Bonzai is a great sushi restaurant that every sushi (or non sushi) fan should try!

From Bonzai Sushi Express I've had their Sumo Roll, Alaskan Roll, Spider Roll, and two other rolls that slipped my mind. I say their sushi is good for pricing and location. It's decent ! I love sushi so I've eaten at a lot of places but when I'm in the parish and don't feel up to a 35+ minute drive, Bonzai does 'scratch the itch.' I wish they had better sauces though! Forgot to mention, their mango freeze is delicious !

I go to Bonzai all the time for lunch! They have some really good sushi! I'm not so big on the house rolls as I am on the specialty rolls. I always order the St. Bernard Roll (cut into 8), and the Dorito Roll. They have an extensive menu nowadays, and they are very big on presentation. Their food matches their presentation. The employees are all awesome! I've befriended everyone there. No one looks like they don't want to be there. No one is annoyed with you if you take a while to order. They are always nice and smiling. Always willing to educate you on Sushi, and welcome you to watch them make it. Really great place. Definitely recommended!

I visit Bonzai at least once most weeks. The sushi is good and consistently so, and the prices are reasonable. The restaurant is usually fairly quiet at lunch time, and service is quick. Overall, since Umi opened up a few months back, Bonzai has upped its game: real plates instead of foam, fancier presentation, etc. It's a welcome improvement. I've been trying to eat low/no-carb over the last few months, and discovered a few no-rice rolls I absolutely adore at Bonzai. My favorite is the Alaskan roll, which is snow crab and salmon in a hollowed-out cucumber half (it's on a boat!). I also recommend the king roll and the summer roll if you don't want the rice; both are excellent.

I'm terrible at short order spots, especially if it's my first time at a restaurant. But, the girl at the counter was super helpful and even helped me change my order up alittle to save me some money. How great is that?? They have a great menu with house rolls and special rolls,and great combos that include rolls, salad, soup and drink. You also have an option to upgrade your salad for only $2. I have heard that most of the staff is from Stixx, which was a more upscale sushi spot in the area, pre-Katrina. The food is great, staff is friendly, great for fast casual lunch!!

The sushi here is seriously good. They have very creative fare and at a good price. The worst thing about the restaurant is its location ... but I still drive there to get my sushi fix!

Okkkkkkk So I was in Chalmette, and remembered hearing about a sushi joint on in da Parish. Here was my chance to see how Chalmations eat sushi. First off do not expect this to be some uptight joint. Basically you place your order at the counter, you pay for your food, fill your own drink, and you wait for the counter person to call out your number---to which you will go and pick up your own food. Im down with that and have no problems with this. My favorite about this place is their combo meals. I placed an order for one that consisted of a sashimi app size, a choice of a house roll, came with huge side of salad(which is sliced cucumber, chopped snowcrab, clear noodles, and a blob of their special sauce on it. Also, it came with a drink(free refills) and miso soup -- all for 10.95 not to include tax. Not bad. My only complaint is that they need to add add more fish in the actual roll instead of filling it up with cruncy and snowcrab. Really, Ive been there twice and if it wasnt for that part, everything else wouldve been great. Great family setting, they have beer also I think. Big parking lot, accepts cash and credit cards. The wait was not long for the food either.

Every time I come to New Orleans, this is one of my to go places for fast, affordable, and delicious food!!! The fish is always fresh at any given time of the day! Staff is friendly and the sushi chef knows his shit! Will see you guys in September!!! If I had a third thumb, I'd give it 3 thumbs up :)
