Awesome service...the staff are super nice. It is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the Lexington area. I like spicy food, and all you have to do is request it and they make it happen. They truly aim to make your experience a good one. Also, their salsa is excellent. If you've never been, stop by.

I truly do not see why there are glowing reviews for this restaurant because as the old saying goes, "You never get a second chance at making a first impression." I took my beloved wife on Mother's Day to this restaurant hoping that the experience would be sublime. Not the case at all...first, the menu that I was given had cooked rice in the middle of the crease. I'm not joking. The waitress brought a bowl for salsa that was wet inside. After we received our food, the waitress never came back to our table to ask how the food was or how we were doing. She was busy talking (maybe flirting) with another patron. Then she had the nerve to get upset when I gave her a $1.00 tip. That was the last straw. We'll take our business elsewhere.

This little place can't be beat for authentic Mexican food. Tonight I had my usual, tacos al pastor. They were hot, fresh and delicious. They were served with a whole green onion and jalapeño, both deep fried. Very good. My date had her usual, shrimp tostadas. They were also fresh and overflowing with shrimp. Sunday lunches are always interesting. There are often really good specials such as menudo and ceviche. If you have a favorite that is not on the menu, ask the staff. They often have scrumptious surprises that are not on the menu. I am not a fan of margaritas, but I hear they are really good here. Mexican beer is cold and cheap. I suggest Pacifico or Tecate with chili and lime. The homemade horchata is a favorite with the kids. Finally, the staff is fantastic. Delia and Mara feel like family. We are always greeted with warm smiles and hugs. They are attentive and efficient. Best service in town.

I came here twice during a recent visit to the area. Because I don't eat a lot of meat, Fish tacos are one of my go to foods. The fish tacos here are delicious. We came on a weekday, to find the restaurant almost completely packed, sign it delicious food. My companions also seem to enjoy their dishes. The staff were really nice, and the restaurant was cute, nothing fancy I enjoyed my meal so much, i went back the following Sunday for my fish tacos!!!

Of all the mexican food restaurants within a 30 minute drive, this is by far the best! Try their tacos carnitas - you won't be disappointed. Their salsa always tastes fresh, and their food and beer are a great price. I come here at least once a week!

Absolutely love my lunch experience, I would have never guess to you to have the best salasa and grilled chicken quesdilla I have ever tasted. I should also add I never order quesadillas.

Best Mexican restaurant in town. Salsa is as good as you'll ever tasted. 32oz frosted mugs of beer 2.99-3.99, what a deal. Food and service are great.

Our family has been coming here for three years on a regular basis. We are from Texas and this is the freshest and most authentic Mexican food in the region. The service is very personal and responsive. We highly recommend ElTapatio!

I've been to just about every Mexican restaurant in Lexington, and this one is my favorite. Excellent menu variety, terrific sopas and tacos, the barbacoa is wonderful, and the availability of different salsas is hard to beat.

The only reason I have given this place a 4 is because my chips and salsa were not warmed and were actually wet. The food is awesome though and I am extremely picky of Mexican restaurants. The chili Colorado is amazing. Large menu offers many choices, quick service helps to make sure your not hungry long along with the nice portion sizes. And your wallet won't be crying when the bill comes.

You don't come to a place like this for the ambiance, you come for the fresh, delicious, and well-priced Mexican food, and El Tapatio delivers. Housed in what used to be a fast-food place, the exterior is unassuming, but the interior is homey enough. Servers are gracious and attentive and the menu is extensive, with a page on the back of lunch specials. The complementary chips were warm and crisp and the salsa was very fresh, spiked with little bits of cilantro and onion. My mom and husband shared the 'fajitas for two' with beef and chicken (shrimp was also an option) that came out on a giant sizzling platter with accompanying plates of rice, refried beans, plus lettuce, sour cream, etc. and flour tortillas. I got the Enchiladas Verdes with chicken that also came with sides of rice and refried beans (sides were good, but nothing special). The Verde sauce was probably some of the best I've had, lots of heat, but still flavorful, and the shredded chicken inside was tender and juicy. They have daily specials posted on a board in addition to the menu. Avoid the iced tea (instant, not brewed), but the beer is cheap. They will bring a check to the table, but you pay up front at the end. ¡Buen apetito!

Born and raised in San Diego, CA and moving to Lexington , KY good Mexican food is very hard to come by. This place is it! Fresh, Fast, Amazing and reminds me of the flavors from back home. Remember you want to eat at the small joints that are not all flashing and large like the big restaurants. Family friendly, super cheap prices, great food!!!

The authentic dishes are very good. I've never has a issue with the food, however if your not into screaming babies or kids running in and out of the kitchen it can be a little annoying. I've only been at night so I can't speak for day experiences. There prices are amazing, I has a couple of modellos some enchiladas and cheese stuff for under 12 bucks, and it was very tasty.

Quick service and cold beer make Mexican dining very enjoyable. My husband and I enjoyed our lunch of chips, tacos and burritos. Although, not on the menu, the staff was able to make a vegetarian taco for me using the fajita vegetables and it was very good.

The best Mexican in Versailles and probably Lexington as well. The prices are very fair, and the menu varied. I love the Chile Rellenos, not so much a fan of the refried beans but they're the same as you get anywhere. Ask for the "hot sauce" that has the sliced carrots and peppers if you like spicy food. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes very good Mexican food, very fair prices, and excellent service. They even have Menudo on the weekend (I think on Saturday but it could be Sunday). It's casual and fun and the food is great and the beer is cold!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
