Aside from the chewy croutons, brown shredded lettuce the try to pass off as salad, the rubber waffle fries, over cooked steak and the obviously nuked from frozen chicken we had a splendid time. At least the beer was cold.

If you're a alcohol/bar type person who doesn't care about a limited menu, this is the place for YOU!! However, unless you want just typical bar food called something it actually isn't ("Tex-Mex"? Please..), and dressed up to 'look good' with BBQ sauce..Chipotle sauce, Chipotle this, that, the other, mango-dango Chipotle.. Then I highly recommend you look elsewhere! Plus, how hard is it to break a $20!?? Lil waiter dude came back with four $5's saying, and I quote verbatim, "um, the front could only give me $5's. Sorry." Yeah, sure. If so, they need to shutter the place. So I called over a co-worker/waitress of his and she broke it like water. This place is pathetic. NEVER returning, as Louisville has TONS of culinary delights to enjoy!

This place is extremely hit or miss. Seems like when you get the right cook, I actually really dig the food. When you get the wrong one however; it's a mushy, salty, mess. The service suffers the same inconsistency. There is also some strange capacity constraint in the kitchen. This is why you'll often see a line of people to get in, with 6-8 empty tables. The managers seem to genuinely care, and they always make things right. It's just a shame the kitchen seems to hold everyone hostage.

The food and service here are fine. It is as good as any Tumbleweed Southwest Grill in Louisville. However, being in Bullitt County, they still have smoking and non-smoking sections. The smoking section is in a large well decorated room with a bar and a few large screen televisions. The non-smoking room is in much smaller near the kitchen noise and there are no large screen TVs. So if you are a smoker, this would be the place to go. If you don't smoke, I'd skip this one and go to the one on Outer Loop near the Jefferson Mall.

  • Bill F.

Service was SLOW. Food was nothing great. Perhaps I am spoiled being from the food capital of the US, Buffalo. Plus the smoke in the place was awful. However, if you HAVE to get off at this exit, I suppose it is the best option. I'll do Burger King next time.

The food was OK the service left something to be desired and my son spilled my duaghters drink on my wife. So all in all the eperience was not the best. We should have gone to Cracker Barrel

From the flavor to the texture of the meat and tortilla it was gross. Making it worse is the price. Even the rice was greasy and hard to eat. Go somewhere else.

I have ate here twice now. First time food was awesome--beef and cheese burrito enchilada style--but the service was terrible. Second time, service was real good but the food was awful. Buffalo chicken with only two out of five tenders covered. If you catch, Ty as your waiter, it might be worth staying. Made me feel at home. Even though my meal wasn't prepared correctly, excellent service did prevail. Not sure what is going on with the staff. Overheard bartender said 3 people quit while the manager was on vacation last week. Use your on judgement!!!

Yeah, this place is pretty awful. Food is poor quality and service is lackluster at best. I ordered a margarita w/o salt (because they specifically asked me) and they brought me one with salt anyways. OK, so I'll drink it like that. Except I couldn't because there was so much salt IN the actual drink that it was unbearable. I swear I tried because I don't like to send things back. So upon bringing me a new one w/o salt, they also neglected to put much tequila in it. They must have been trying to cut costs since they already wasted one drink on me. Worse than that though, after waiting over 45 minutes for my food, I realized that they must have forgotten about me. Even though there were only a half dozen people in the restaurant total. So I asked and they rushed me my food which had been under a kitchen warmer for at least 25+ minutes. I asked for it 'to-go' so my colleague and I could leave. I don't think that the meal would have been worth finishing even if it were brought to me fresh. Yelp can be hit or miss at times, but this time I should have clearly avoided this place. I wont ever be back, and I recommend that you never attempt such an establishment.

Food is just above the quality of Taco Bell however the server really tried to give our group the best experience at the tumble weed. My stomach is still tumbling this morning. Fresh guacamole is the best appetizer.

    (2)
  • Craig R.

Decent Tex Mex. The burrito and nachos were good. Service was a bit slow, but it was a busy Saturday night. This is across the street from the Holiday Inn Express.

Man o man this place rocks yelp you lead me astray.... Had the sirloin great! Beer was ice cold and reasonable. Casey was our waitress and had a good sense of humor with our shenanigans thank you for the food.

  • Kameron H.

Very slow nasty and not worth it. We have been waiting for over 1 hr and still nothing. I do not recommend.

  • Diana L.

Stale chips, frozen soggy vegetables, too much salt. :-( sweet tea was okay Ordered the skinny Burrito - know why it is called that - so soggy and over salted, you can't eat it. Took forever to get our meal. Was extremely disappointed when it arrived. Won't be back. Now to go find a store that sells something for heart burn I wish I could post negative stars Run away!!!

  • Kori Y.

The only reason I keep coming back here is because when your driving south, and pass downtown Louisville, and stop for the night, there is not much else on Brooks road for options. Food is always just average, and service is so so, but the beer is cold! After 6 hours on the road, you don't want to drive anywhere else.

Awful! 3 out of 10. Very nice wait staff but forgetful. Mild salsa tasted like ketchup, stale chips, the rest of the food was flavorless. Got a drink with a dishwasher dried straw wrapper on the edge of it. Don't waste your time, money or the calories eating here.

Hello kentucky - stuck in the 90's... They still have a smoking section in restaurants, and they still do them poorly... This is one of the options in the little hotel row off the highway, it's the best option. The staff is extremely friendly and happy. There is definitely a regular crowd, but you don't get treated any differently just cause you aren't there every friday night! The food was pub food, plenty of grease and fried goodness! Pretty quick in and out so we could get back to the pup's in the hotel room next door!

  • john W.

Sometimes foodies are idiots. it's a bar/restaurant, tucked in hotel row. What do you expect? 5 star meals? don't. What you should expect is nice staff (we sat at the bar and the bartender was super nice!) and adequate food and drink. Biggest downside, the bar is the "smoking" section. Was like we traveled back in time to when that was acceptable... ick. Thankfully we didn't get smoked out. The food was good enough. It was late, we were tired and hungry. The "eggrolls" were pretty good, and the Chili fries were alright. The best part was they were cheap and we didn't have to think about it. After driving all day that was kinda nice. Would I go back, probably not, but I doubt I'd find myself in that part of Kentucky again.

I eat out with my wife almost every day, somewhere in this country. This was among the few places where I have had a bad meal. Chips were stale, presentation was soso, and the timing deplorable. Our server was a sweetheart without any control over the back of the house. Also, the place was dirty, with paper and food on the floor with no attempt to clean any of it up. Diner beware. I'll spend by dining dollars elsewhere.

So in the past 4 months, I've spent 5 weeks at a hotel within spitting distance of this joint. The only plus about this place is 99 cent margarita Mondays. I went last week and I went today. The margaritas are a deal for $.99 but the food leaves much to be desired. I'm not the type that sends back meals often. I ordered the brisket sandwich last week and it was rubber. I sent that back and got the southwest egg rolls or whatever they're called. Those were decent, but actually not as enjoyable as the ones Arby's offer from time to time. Today I went in for margaritas and decided to get a the boneless buffalo chicken appetizer, thinking there's little chance that it was a dish that could be mishandled. Ugh. Fried chicken isn't supposed to be soft. There shouldn't be greyish black parts in the meat. I mean, I'm sure the chicken tenders that they lather in buffalo sauce are frozen, so how on earth do they end up looking like that?! Avoid except for Monday Margaritas and even then, just expect what you pay for.

  • Eric R.

I know it's a chain, but it's right next to the hotel I'm staying at, so that's how I ended up here. I ate at the bar when I went, which is still a smoking area btw. There is adequate ventilation so you're not swimming in smoke, but it still smells like it. The people who work here are generally nice, and gave me plenty of tips for things to check out while in town. I really don't get the other reviews for this place, it's really just a rebranded Chili's or Friday's, and that's what you should expect going in. I had the En Fuego burger and they cooked it correctly (medium can be hard to find around here apparently) as well as the actual burger having enough kick for me to not get bored eating it. 99 cent margaritas on mondays do a very good job at helping you forget what you did all day. For the record, nobody, anywhere, recognizes Buffalo as the food capital of the US. I just had to get that on in there because I am still chuckling to myself. I'm a non-smoker, and I'm still a fan.

  • Mel W.

Awesome food and awesome crowd I will definitely eat here whenever I am in town. The staff was welcoming and helped me understand the menu considering I had never been to a tumbleweed before. I would recommend this to anyone in the area!

Been here twice. Should have trusted that the first wasn't just an off day. Service is terrible. Food is mediocre. Definitely not on par with the other Tumbleweed restaurants I've been to. Do not go to this place!

  • Andy B.

Awful. Someone teach these fools to make a quesidilla. The only reason they do well is because the people in this part of town don't know any better. Trashy, pitiful, and unappetizing. Got a quesidalla, with what tasted like Mediterranean seasoning in the rice. Spanish rice isn't hard to make, but they managed to mess it up. Cheap sysco chicken looks like wadded up rubber cement, everything was sloppy and slimy. Just don't go here.

  • Geoff S.

First off, it's now smoke free! This is my first review because I have never felt the need to do one before. I sat at bar as I was by myself. Crystal the bar tender ROCKS. She is probably the best and hardest working bartenders I've ever seen. I asked her what she recommends, and glad I did, (she knows her stuff). Compliments to the chief. Had the Salmon dinner with house salad, with house dressing (chipotle ranch) she calls it (fancy sauce) and baked potato (melted in my mouth). Also had chips & salsa and being from Santa Barbara I live off that. I was blown away on how good it was and how cool is it they keep it behind the bar! Thank you for making the end of my week long, 4 state trip have an awesome finale!

My family and I were staying at the Hampton inn and wanted to find someplace close. We were disappointed in the choices of restaurants nearby but decided to give Tumbleweed a try. Big mistake. First of all it was very smoky even in the non smoking section. Second, the ribeye was barely edible. My son said "it didn't look like the picture on the menu". He was right! We suggest you drive to another restaurant.

    (1)
  • Ted H.

Service was good and the food was generic but passable. There is not many choices for dining off this exit. My wife was not impressed with the condition of the ladies room at all, and the fact that a staff member was in there smoking didn't help. We won't be back.
