Walking a cafe that serves up what I can only describe as High end soup, I was not sure if I would place an order, or what to expect when if I did. The staff was amazing they were very accommodating and let us sample some soups of choice. Everything I sampled was great I made a selection and was served in record time. Some people where visiting where turned off by the price, I would not let that bother you; this will likely be some of the best soup you will ever have and it is served very generously.

Ate lunch here today. Tried the combo with Simply Gazpacho and Tuna Fish sandwich. Portions were small and reminds me of Panera who is so stingy on servings. My soup felt incomplete. Blah. My very small tuna fish had excellent sourdough bread. All in all not a memorable meal. However Zoup has friendly and efficient staff. Honestly I need to stick with the superb Stevens & Stevens Deli.

I love everything i have tried here. service is good they let you try the soups. the portions are big . i have my soup for lunch and my sandwich for dinner when i do the pick 2. only a cow of a person would not think the soup and sandwich together were not filling even for a man.

Service went well. Pot pie soup was great, very filling and could see it as a blessing on a cold day. Turkey sandwich was made to order so no complaints. Got in for a quick lunch and was out in plenty of time.

Taste -4/5 No regrets about anything you get bc you can sample every soup on the menu while you wait in line, and they change their selection weekly and seasonly. The GF bread is a huge plus for their sandwich menu, which is also very good, simple, and not too fancy. They have a great selection of salads, and they really hook you up with good portions. All fresh ingredients, big variety, and they use a lot of attention to detail with seasoning/taste. They have labels for all their soups for gf, vegan, or dairy so I'm a big fan of that. Great chain, and I highly recommend it all year (summer doesn't seem like soup weather but this was perfect bc it's served cold) Facility/Cleanliness: 3.8/5 kinda crowded and cramped but always clean. Service 4.2/5 - great service, and very friendly and interactive.

My friends and I honestly just stumbled upon this place because we needed to use the restroom and wanted to stay warm. When I walked in I was instantly pleased by the smell and was asked if I would liked to try a free soup sample . I tried the Lentil soup and it was sooooooo yummy and kept me warm. A bit spicy but so flavorful ! The French bread that came with it was so soft and warm! Definitely want to revisit before I leave Kentucky back to FL.

I ate here for the first time on a Thursday afternoon on my lunch break. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a young man behind the counter who asked me if I would like to try any soup samples. I tried both the lobster bisque and the chicken pot pie. Both were excellent but I decided to get the lobster since you don't see that very often. For $6.50 I had the bisque in a bread bowl. It was so good I ate the entire thing. The bread was a little chewy but tasted good. The place is pretty small inside but they do have a few outdoor tables on the sidewalk. I did use the bathroom while I was there and the restroom was clean. The only issue I had was they overcharged me on my soup and I brought it to the managers attention and he quickly refunded me the difference.

Best soup place ever! I love all of the soups! My favorite is the lobster bisque... Yummy. The salads are delish and the sandwiches are scrumptious. I recommend if you are thinking soup and salad or soup and sandwich... ZOUP is where to go. Try before you buy also is a great feature and the staff is very helpful and friendly.

First time here and both of the ladies are so nice. We told the ladies it was our first time or they asked us anyway a very nice lady named Nashelle let us try three soups and they are all delicious! (Loaded potato soup, chicken fajita and chicken pot pie)! Nashelle recommended the new summer berry salad which seems healthy and the taste is off the charts! The raspberry vinaigrette is the best I've had! Everything here is fresh!! Healthy and good that's hard to beat! Zoup baby Zoup baby! Can you say "love at first bite". This place is a must! A Plus food and service!!!

Enjoyed the chicken pot pie soup in a bread bowl. A flavorful tasting and hearty soup. The staff was wonderful. I would visit again.

Stopped here for lunch before an event at the Galt House and was pleasantly surprised! They have a great combo deal where you can get soup, a serving of bread, and a side salad or sandwich for under $8. I ordered the broccoli cheddar soup and the grilled chicken Caesar salad and it was all really delicious! My only complaint was the cleanliness of the store, most of the tables were dirty and had to clean the one I sat at myself. Definitely would go back, though!

  • Dan S.

I had their Mulligatawny (sp?) soup and a half Greek Chicken sandwich. Both were super tasty and flavorful. The service was friendly (engaging me in conversation without being push) and fast (I waited 3-4 minutes from ordering to eating). The only thing I can say bad about this place is it isn't open at dinner time!

Soup, soup, and more soup! This place is like Disney World for soup fans. They have a selection of 12 soups that change daily. They are very diverse in their options, so its really hard not to find at least one that you like. When you arrive, there is someone there who will ask if you would like to sample any of the soups. They don't care how many you try so go ahead and sample them all if you wish! Along with soups, they also offer 8 different salads and 8 different sandwiches! The sandwiches you can get as halves to go along with your soup if you'd prefer not to have a whole one. The owner of the store is usually always out front, either working the counter or walking around making sure everyone is enjoying their time at his business. He is always in a cheerful mood and is one of the main reasons I keep coming back. If you go to their website, they update the menu every morning so that you can see which soups they are serving that day. The site also shows all of the nutritional information for each menu option. My favorites are the chicken pot pie and the pumpkin pie bisque which is seasonal. All of their soups are full of flavor though and are seasoned well. So go on Louisville and get your Zoup on!

I've never had a bad meal here. Always know what to expect, the quality is great and the food is delicious. The owners are there a lot, which is nice.

Zoup is that perfect place to go to when you know you're hungry but don't really know what for. They have a ton of soup selections, and their sandwiches aren't half bad either. I got to back there today for the first time in awhile. (I think of Zoup more as a cold-weather lunch option but nonetheless enjoyed it on this almost 90-degree day.) I got the etouffee, which was chock full of crawfish and shrimp and hearty. I also typically get their seafood bisques. Zoup's customer service is also always top notch too. An employee will typically offer samples as soon as you get in line, and I've seen nothing but smiles, even during the lunch rush. On one of my first visits, the manager came over and thanked us for eating there. How nice is that?!? Zoup is definitely one of the best options on Fourth Street.

Best salad (Greek) and chili(Bison) I have ever had in a restaurant. Great people watching area of 4th street live area. Best place I have eaten here yet.

  • Diana S.

I have not had a soup that I didn't like from Zoup. Their spicy crab and rice soup is delicious, I typically pair it with a creamy Greek Multigrain wrap that's loaded with chicken and feta. I like how Zoups denote calorie content and that they offer soup samples to try before an order is placed.

  • Shelby V.

This place was pretty good but not somewhere I'm dying to go again. The line to order from was confusing as the normal area it would begin for orders was for samples. I love that they give samples but the signs to see that they were offered were not very visible. My chicken vegetable soup was lacking on the chicken and veggie side but had excellent flavor. My Sonoma salad was great.

Soup is good food, and I thought it great its available to me staying downtown for a few days. I appreciate the clearly marked menu items which is helpful in decision making prior to making a purchase. I tried both the split pea and mushroom barely which were both really great. Staff was helpful and upbeat.

Two years ago, we came to Louisville for an event at the convention center and to our delight, we found Zoup. Everyone there was friendly and helpful. We tried most of the soups and enjoyed every warm savory bite. Unfortunately, it was toward the end of our trip that we dined on the lobster bisque, and potato cheese soups then we were on our way back to California. Visiting family in Indiana, we made the 2.5 hour drive to Louisville to enjoy it again. It was every bit as good as we remembered. The broccoli cheese, chicken pot pie, and tomato basil were perfect for the cold windy weather. They have new soup flavors every day and make them in house! There are lots of gluten and dairy free options. It was worth the trip and great to visit the city of Louisville with a warm cup of Zoup!

Just had an extremely enjoyable lunch at the Zoups in Louisville. Loved being able to sample their soups prior to ordering. I often feel as if customer service is a thing of the past, but NOT at this location! The manager, Paul, along with his staff were friendly and made us feel very welcome. I was torn between the Lemon Lentil and the Lobster Bisque. I chose the latter, but will definitely be back...many more soups to try out, and the atmosphere and attentive staff were the icing on the cake.

  • Corey R.

Holy cow, what a gem!! Always fresh and always fast. I've tried too many soups to count and they all taste like gourmet freshly made just for me...maybe because they are! Salads are fresh, crisp and tasty. Sandwiches are full of both flavor and ingredients. Lastly and most notably, the service is impeccable. So friendly and unbelievably warm with every customer. Newcomers immediately feel like regulars walking in the door. Even when busy, everything is on point, fast and tasty. Best downtown lunch spot by far.

  • Elizabeth W.

Zoup is an ideal place to go if you are a soup lover. There are many great choices. The nice thing about this eatery you have the ability to try a soup out before you buy. That helps a lot especially since they do have several choices. Today I chose the lobster bisque. They use genuine lobster meat that is fresh and isn't over cooked.

    (5)
  • Claudia H.

Yum! I'm not a salad person so when I go here, I always do a soup and sandwich. (Sandwiches are all good). However, I got a field green salad with raspberry vinaigrette and bam. . . Changed my mind from now on out. The dressing was super sweet (too sweet on its own) but combined with the blue cheese on the salad made for an amazing duo. More importantly, if you are a fan of lobster bisques, zoup's is very good. Best ever bisque, no, but definitely up there! Don't let the line scare you, it moves quickly.

On a long drive from the east coast to the Rockies. Needed a good, quick tasty lunch and Zoup hit the spot. Found it through Yelp and it held up to the rating. I got the 1/2 Cobb salad and cup of tomato vegetable soup for $8.75. A good deal. Food is very fresh and tasty. Service is very friendly and efficient. The neighborhood looks very cool with lots of options; Zoup is a solid choice.

Great, accommodating service. My group and I were passing through Louisville for the first time and we were greeted with a friendly smile. The MTB hit the spot for a light lunch.

  • D B.

Friendly, efficient service if you're looking for lunch downtown. I had a split-pea soup and French bread, both of which were good, and a straight-from-the-oven chocolate chip cookie that was great. The staff behind the counter are quick, cheerful, and polite. It's a very nice downtown lunch spot.

  • Carolyn H.

This spot is good for vegans and vegetarians. Food is tasty, quick, there are usually at least 10 soup flavors to choose from and they change daily. The menu always states if a soup is Dairy Free, Vegetarian, Low Fat, etc. and you can view nutrition facts online though it doesn't say which portion size is described there. :/ Gripes: Low on value since it's hard to justify $7 or $8 on a bowl of soup and the bread that comes with it. Also, of course, it's all high sodium and MSG, not organic or local either. You can also order ahead online but there is no option to remove something unwanted from a sanwich or salad. It's a chain but a decent one if you must. Tip: the beginning of the line is for tasting soups, only. If you know what you want, look for the cash register and head up there to order. Service is friendly if a little over-solicitous at times. Still grateful to have a light, healthier option on 4th Street.

Zoup! Is a great addition to the downtown lunch spot scene. The selection is abundant with choices and the food and service were beyond good. I had the farmer salad and the roasted chicken with garlic soup with a multigrain roll. I will be visiting again soon!

Zoup! What a fun word to say. After a recent trip to Jamba Juice before a men's basketball game, I realized I should probably eat some dinner to avoid the snacks at the KFC Yum! Center. Zoup! is right by Jamba & I had never been, so it seemed like a good choice. First, I noticed some (not all) of the nutrition facts on website include Weight Watchers Points Plus--which gives them points in my book. I was going to go basic with chicken noodle soup, but when we walked in, I noticed the Veggie-terranean on the menu. Online, this is described as: "hummus, roasted red peppers, cucumber, romaine, tomato, & muenster cheese (multigrain flatbread wrap)". I was quite happy with this choice. It a perfect dinner after drinking a smoothie--not too much, not too little. It was flavorful and really hit the spot. I also felt pretty healthy eating it. It doesn't come with any sides, which was fine for me, though I don't remember what options were available in this realm. The night I went, there was no line and only a few individuals dining, though I would imagine it is busier at lunch with the downtown crowd. I would recommend this place. It has a variety of options (which I believe may change from time to time) and a good location, particularly if you're nearby. I have nothing bad to say about it, but it didn't take me over the top, so for now, it's three stars for Zoup!

Really good soup! Excellent staff! Meet the owners when your there, they are actually working. I have tried at least ten different soups and loved almost everyone. The only one I did not like the rest of our group loved. So it was just my weirdness. Salads are freshly made for you too! Value value value!

Great selection of soup, very friendly staff, fresh ingredients. I had the roasted red pepper corn chowder and the veggie wrap. Both were delicious!

Spicy crab and rice yum. Good place to go for soup in a hurry! Always good selection and you can taste test before you choose!

  • Miriam W.

While I was impressed with the large selection of soups this chain offers, some were better than others, and I'm not a fan of their bread, which is terrible in both flavor and texture. I do like that you can sample the soups ahead of time, and the staff is helpful and friendly.

So the fact that I have been there 3 times this week should say how I feel about the place. I love the Loco Burrito Salad, now I customize it to my liking, but that is why it is even better. All the folks are very nice there. I had to wait on my Soup today because I wanted the Mexican Chicken and I didn't mind waiting at all, but at no request or anything they upgraded me to the large. Awesome. I am going to miss this place when this project is over.

  • Shana K.

What isn't to love about a salad that is so flavorful that you can totally skip the dressing with its added calories? Indeed, Zoup's Loco Burrito salad with lime marinated chicken, guacamole, tortilla strips, corn salsa, and mozzarella cheese had no need for the dressing and the ingredients were all extremely fresh and delicious. Also, because I ordered online in advance I bypassed the line and went right up to the register where my salad was packaged and waiting for me. My only wish is that the restaurant had a "stopping" area nearby for online carry out orders. I hate having to park blocks away at a meter and hike to the restaurant just to grab my online carry out order. But, I'm not going to take as star from Zoup for having a hopping location! Stop in and get some Zoup!

    (5)
  • Blake S.

I got the Loco Burrito Salad and it was great. There was a majority of bites that are more toppings than lettuce and the chipotle ranch is great. It was one of the better salad's I've ever had.

This place is phenomenal! Their soup selection is great and they're all very delicious. Employees are very friendly, and funny. Highly recommend this place.

After ordering and finding out that they didn't have enough of the soup we wanted to fill our order, the manager comped us a couple of free drinks. Great. Then we got back to the hotel and realized: 1. The bread wasn't the kind we asked for. 2. We were given two orders of the same type of soup, and we were missing what we had ordered. In their defense, they did offer to have an employee come bring it to us. But really, who the hell wants to sit and wait for soup to show up while their spouse's is getting cold? No bueno.

    (3)
  • Keegan B.

For a little soup and sandwich shop, Zoup great at service and underwhelming for food. My soup was ok, I got the tomato soup and a grilled cheese always a great go to combination if you ask me. The soup is chunky and a bit rough for me. I prefer tomato soup creamy, rich and viscous. The grilled cheese was mainly bread and disappointing. What impressed me is that a person in a wheelchair came in to the place behind me, after the staff had their order on of the people of the two working came out in to the seating area and moved a chair out of the way for them so the lady and her son could sit down, without having to fuss with it. While the food here did little to impress me how they treat every person that walks in the door, and how nice they are.

Went for lunch with an almost 5 year old and a one year old after being at the DMV. The customer service and smiling faces were a welcome reprieve! Got a kids' meal and requested a special combination (2 grilled cheeses instead of soup). The 5 year old was stoked about the goldfish crackers. Order arrived sans goldfish. Ate the meal on the patio and went inside before leaving to inquire about goldfish. Not sure if they were left off to accommodate the special order, I was willing to go without. Gentleman behind counter said they were probably not included, but he'd be happy to give us a pack. It was really nice and avoided the drama of a disappointed 5 year old. Prices were higher than I usually spend for my kids and I at lunch, but the food was really good. I had the chicken tuscano (I think). Yummy! Will definitely find an excuse to go back during soup weather. It was just too hot (80°+) for soup that day. Great food. Great service. Great location.

  • Shal V.

Went to Zoup for lunch a few times during the week. I tried the Chicken Toscana, 4 Cheese Melt and Turkey Club sandwiches. The sandwiches were good but not spectacular. It's like Panera Bread with a wider selection of soups, which you get to sample; the ones I tried were all very good. It's a convenient location downtown, the service is fast and friendly, it's not pricey but somehow, the flavors are not special enough for me to want to rush there. I'd still go there if I want to grab a quick bite during my lunch break but if I have to pick among the raft of good restaurants downtown, Zoup won't be my first choice.

I am eating the cobb salad from here as I type this. Multitasking at the office to the extreme! (Sadly, work is not getting done.) Super delicious, fresh, perfect ratio of meat to veggies, inexpensive. This place will certainly be my new go to for work lunches. I do, however, feel a bit like an ass. After I had ordered I heard the suit in line behind me ordering the lobster bisque and now am experiencing a tad regret for not getting that. Next time, lobster. Be warned!

  • Rachel F.

I like soup. I like quick. And can't complain about the convenient downtown lunch spot. I went for pre-opening day for a free lunch that my friend had gotten at her office {glad to be included!} for a pick two or any soup, salad, or sandwich. I loved that they let you try a couple different soups while you are waiting to order to make an educated decision. I tried the Chicken Pot Pie (not terribly impressed) and the lobster bisque (awesome!) and then ordered the Shrimp and Crawfish Etoufee and the half cobb salad. Oh, and the sourdough bread. It was meh. Etoufee was underwhelming. There was a decent serving of crawfish, it just wasn't quite as flavorful as I prefer. The Cobb Salad though was extremely yummy and such good value. The half was a great size, had tasty chicken, avocado, bacon, tomatoes, and awesomeness. The service was awesome. I loved the variety of soups and trying them like ice cream. Next time I'm getting the baguette, cobb, and bisque and it will most likely go up to a 4 star!

My girlfriend and I stopped here on our way back from Indianapolis. The service was great! You can try as many soups that they have as you want. I tried the Macaroni and Cheese soup, the White Chicken and Vegetables soup, and the crab bisque, all of which were incredible! My girlfriend, being she has a condition to where all she can eat is soup, ordered the Macaroni and Cheese soup. She was nearly in tears at how good it was, and how long it had been since she last was able to eat macaroni and cheese, 12 years. I tried the Greek Chicken Sandwichz, which wasn't bad. It was really a wrap, and not a sandwich. It just wasn't what I was expecting. Still a very good, light choice for a lunch meal. All of the staff was nice. The manger talked to us for a little while saying how happy he is to have the first location in Kentucky, and welcoming us to the city of Louisville. He even walked around the seating areas, inside and out, to see how everyone's food and service was. This was something I've never experienced at a "fast-food" restaurant. I highly recommend Zoup if you are ever in Louisville. It's a great little place, and right in the middle of a nice restaurant district.

  • Scott M.

For the price I was not impressed at all!!! The veggie wrap I got was so boring and dull, the soup was OK...but if you are going to be a soup place, I expect the best soup ever...and it wasn't at all!!!

  • Julia M.

Delicious! Very friendly welcome upon arrival and helpful, friendly service. What's neat about this place is that toucan try any soup they have that day before you decide. I went with Italian Wedding with multi grain bread. Great, easy, reasonably priced lunch in Louisville!

  • Jennifer C.

I love the chicken pot pie soup. The sandwiches are forgettable, and the prices are a little high, but the service is good. I wish I'd tried this place during the colder winter months when I really want soup!

The soups are great but they rotate frequently so be adventurous and try new things. I really like the cobb salad, and the turkey sandwich is a comforting classic.

Great concept! This was my first time to this place. Was craving salad and soup while driving through and found this on a web search. I like how they have a lot of options for soup and also allow you to sample them. I ordered the Mulligatawny soup, which is a popular soup that has an apple curry chicken flavor to it. It is also low fat and healthy. I ordered it and liked it all right. I did kind of think it was a little sweeter than I expected. Maybe it was the apple. Or maybe they added sugar. I also ordered the loco burrito salad. It was good as well. I liked how they use multi-Grain whole wheat (I think) tortilla strips for the salad. Besides the variety, I liked the service. Everyone was very helpful and very friendly. I would like to come back to try more of their soups and even a sandwich the next time I drive through this city...

One of my favorite lunch spots in Downtown Louisville! I usually go with the craft two combo, choosing the Southwest Turkey sandwich and one of the soups. They let you sample soups, so you can find the perfect one! The service is always courteous and quick, so it's especially great if you don't have a lot of time.

This place is the perfect lunch stop. Good, warm, and soft sandwiches. The soups is fantastic and service is fast. I wish Dallas had one of these! Get the Pot Pie soup!

I love Zoup, and visit here for lunch often. They are a great spot for lunch, as they serve soup, salad, and sandwiches. Their soup selection rotates every day, and each day there are around 12 soups to choose from. They'll give you samples of whatever soup you want to help you decide. The food is great - I've tried tons of things from the menu, and everything has been delicious. One thing I get almost every time is the Loco Burrito Salad. Very good. Aside from the wonderful food, the biggest positive about this place is the staff. The owner really knows how to run a business. I really like that he is present, friendly and conversational to every customer that comes in. He even remembers my name. And all the employees are extraordinarily friendly. They tell you hello as soon as you walk through the door, and make conversation with you as you're going through the line. You really feel like you're being taken care of here, and it makes me want to continue supporting Zoup with my business.

  • Lauren D.

I'd have to compare this to Panera, mainly because Panera is right across the street. That and salad and soup and bread: you know, lunch. Zoup is cheaper. If you're looking for soup there are definitely many more selections. The staff! They were so polite. And nice. And knowledgeable. And they didn't make me rush. All things that I truly appreciate. After all, it's a lunch break at a conference, my brain is addled. Trying to pick out the right soup to soothe my troubled mind was quite the task. They let you taste as many of the soups that you would like in order to find your soul mate soup. Mine was butternut and ginger. It made my soul happy. It was a bit on the sweet side, but I'm not exactly looking for high dollar oh my goodness richness in a lunch soup. Plus, it's cheap. I cannot attest to the salad, I didn't have it. However, if they give as much attention to the salad as they seem to give to their soups it should be fantastic. Did I mention that it's cheap?
