Gyros?? At a fish place?? Seriously. And pretty good ones at that. Not the best gyro I've ever had, but certainly the best gyro I've ever had at a fish place and definitely the best in Okolona. And that is likely because the owner is of Mediterranean descent so you know they're kickin' it legit. Secondly, I've also had the fish, and it's good too. Plus the alligator tail, also pretty good, and my boys love them. Nothing spectacular, mind you, but everything was above expectations. Except for the booth, that thing needs to be re-cushioned because the springs are shot. Also, look for the Groupon for a little savings.

Came here for a quick dinner cause wanted some fried seafood. I was skeptical at first but quickly realized that this was a great find! Very friendly staff and food was outstanding! I had the fried scrod with rice and baked potato. Very light crunchy breading! Perfect! You will not be disappointed if you want to get your fried seafood fix taken care of.

Order at counter. Food delivered to your table. Combination fish and middle eastern. All food is good. Large selection. Place is clean. Service with a smile and very competent. Have been a number of times and will return. Portions are large enough that we usually have takeout leftovers.

I have not been inside this restaurant, but I have gotten take-out and was impressed. I had the beef gyro and I really liked the yogurt dressing. The beef was a TINY bit dry, but it might have just been the time of day. I absolutely would go back and get it again to confirm. I really loved the baklava. My friend had a fried fish sandwich and really loved it. He said the green beans were one of his favorite of all time, with loads of cajun spices. The server on the phone was super friendly and even called me back when something was left out of our bag so we could come back and get it. I can't wait to try it again.

I had lunch here again today and again the food was spot on. The fried scrod is excellent . The onion rings perfect as usual. Very friendly . Nice place. I'll be back soon.

Good food, and the staff is wonderful. We ordered two meals, my wife got the scrod. When the owner came out to check our orders, he didnt like my wife's portion size and got her more fish. Even after we insisted that it was perfect for her. I have had many things here and always have been pleased. The only thing that I dont like is the portion size of their fried veggies. Small portions for the price I believe.

Excellent place! We were the first customers of the day. The fried pickles are wonderful- light batter, just thick enough and not a bread crumb in sight. My husband wolfed down his beef gyro and said it was one of the best he's ever had. My chicken gyro was just spicy enough to satisfy my palate. The tzatziki sauce has just enough kick to keep it from being boring old sauce. The baklava was my favorite and I consider myself a fair judge having consumed tons of the stuff when my Greek stepfather was still alive. We will definitely be back for more!!!

Went here on our vacation because Yelp said it was pretty good. It might be good for locals but from us from New York we had much better fish and much better Greek food avoid unless you're in a pinch. I will say the service was excellent owner was great but food was subpar.

This place was great for mothers day. Low key and not high falutin' Sharom (Sp?) the owner was great. Alligator and Clam Gyro and a Falafel Gyro was the highlights if the meal And the hush puppies best I have had in the 'ville (sorry Mike linnings) I will go here again because they ran out of Mako shark... That will be my next Gyro!!

The service was great, the lady behind the counter was kind and patient as my daughter and I figured out what we wanted. The food is just "okay," especially for the price. I had a Groupon and tried the place solely for that reason. It's not a seafood spot that I'll frequent. Clarksville Seafood is much more flavorful, their portions are larger - and their prices lower!

Great food and great friendly service! I really wish this restaurant was closer to my house because it would be visited frequently. With that said I will make the drive as much as possible. I love fish and seafood and this place has great Boston Scrod ( which is one of my favorites). It is fried to perfection. The shrimp was perfect in every way too. Cole slaw was great and the onion rings were delicious. Nothing was overly breaded like you find in many restaurants. The truly good seafood places in Louisville are lacking but I'm glad I found this great one. Highly recommend!

It pangs me to admit to judging a restaurant by its neighborhood, but hey sometimes it happens. The Fishery Station, formerly advertising itself as Sharom's Restaurant, looked like it could be the kind of place where you're almost glad everything in sight is fried because at least the grease makes the "food" more palatable. But, no. This is no Captain D's. This is a family style restaurant in the true sense of the concept. Sharom himself was working with a smile on his face and treated customers with nothing but kindness. I wanted to try the falafel but he told me they weren't serving it that day (it was opening day) because he didn't have enough time before the opening to make it the right way. With that statement, Sharom automatically became trustworthy in my book. At that point, I felt comfortable enough to order the chicken gyro (I usually avoid meat at places where I don't know how many friends the chicken had growing up and what kind of farm he or she grew up on - ok I'm not quite as over the top as that episode of Portlandia). My friend and I waited in the cute little waiting area complete with a coffee table and multiple seats for just a little while before getting our food to go. The chicken gyro was phenomenal for two reasons: shredded romaine (not iceberg, yay) lettuce and the tzatziki sauce had a nice little spicy kick to it and was presented on the side, so you can choose how much you wanna slather it on. The chicken itself was a tad dry, but if that's the worst thing I have to say about their meat, then they're doing pretty darn good. Totally wanna come back and try some of the shark, alligator and frog's legs that they have on the menu.

MR says ... fried mako shark a must try!!! MRS says ... when you crave for crispy fried crunchy food, Sharon's Fishery Station is the place to be. great spot this lenten season. at the counter, you place your order and seat yourself after paying. get their baklava desserts. it's delicious and closest to heaven :) served in little squares. one can eat 2pcs easily. we ordered mini crab cakes. good size ~ about the size of a scallops. served with chili thai sauce and tartar sauce. chicken livers for MR who devour it like its going somewhere. last time he had chicken livers was at Claudia Sander's. the chicken livers were cooked perfectly with nice crunchy coating. one can't go wrong with fried food. i had alligator tails ~ tastes like chicken :) entrees comes with 2 sides. i got side salad which is a classice iceburg wedge. since i can't get enough fried food, i ordered frenchfries but they have greens, mac&cheese, rice and other delicious sides to choose from. they ran out of mako shark. i'll definitely come back for that.

Love it, love it. I agree with Joe P.--I'd be a regular for sure if this place was in my neighborhood. This place is a notch above a hole-in-the-wall (and I consider a hole-in-the-wall a great thing). It's a notch above because of the decent size menu. A good amount of choices are crammed onto one menu board (or one tri-fold carry-out menu). It's a notch above because of the good size dining room which sports a nautical theme. The theme feels like it may be the results of a decades old remodel, but it has been well maintained and still holds its own today. Seafood is king on the menu, however, a small selection of Mediterranean dishes owns some real estate on the menu board. It was the beef gyro that lured me in on my first visit. Unless there's a festival in town, gyros are few and far between. I am pleased to see them on this year-round menu. (It was very good, by the way.) You will order, pay, and receive your drink at the counter. You can then grab a seat at a table (square or round, no booths) and your food will be brought to you. The service is simple--not over the top. It felt like I was being served by family (a loving family... just to clarify). Overall--excellent. You know... I pass this place often around dinner time and this place is always crowded. I've always thought "it must be good if there's that many people there." I believe my thinking was correct. I just hate that it took me so long to finally stop in.

I was interested in going to a new place - to me, and after some looking I saw few reviews for Sharom's but positive so decided to give it a try. Upon arriving, I noticed It appeared like a dive from the outside, might frighten some but I bolstered my courage. The decor is better from the inside, like being in a 1968 living room near the NJ shore. I was drawn here for the gyros, though people seemed to be enjoying the fish dishes. Unfortunately, I caught them between gyro roasts, it took a while for the sandwich to arrive, and this is the reason for the 3 vs 4 stars, my sandwich consisted of the rind. Not the best foot forward. As a side I was intrigued by the deep fried veggies, unfortunately too early in the year for okra, but tired the cauliflower and really liked it. The dipping sauce was good also.

Ah, Sharom's. If I were on this side of town more often, I'd probably be a regular here. As it stands, I'm on this side of town and ready to eat practically never. But where else in Louisville can you find lobster bites or fried alligator? Sharom's packs all of the wonders of nature's aquatic bounty, battered and fried. They offer some delicious sides as well, I'm quite partial to their fried okra. Their prices are a bit steep (mostly in the $10-$15 dollar range for entrees) but this is understandable, given Kentucky isn't exactly close to the seven seas. Overall, it's a wonderful experience, though I never quite know whether to tip or not, given they have a odd system where you place your order at a counter, and then sit down at a table to be served. Worth your time, if you're in the neighborhood.
