Great spot for lunch. Small place, service is fast, the lunches are very reasonably priced and tasty.

I really like Starving Artists Cafe! It's an intimate, comfortable place. Although it is small, I have never had trouble finding a table at lunchtime. Service is very friendly and efficient at Starving Artists. Starving Artists specializes in creative, delicious sandwiches as well as homemade soups and delicious chili. All of the sandwiches are named after dead artists and performers, so you might find yourself eating a Van Gogh, a Johnny Cash or a Rick James. Each day, there is a $6 lunch special that includes a delicious sandwich and a side dish (soup, chili, pasta salad, chips or pretzels). For a small up charge, you can substitute fries. To illustrate the quality and creativity at Starving Artists, here are a couple of the lunch special sandwiches I have had recently: Grilled chicken, muenster, lettuce, tomato, lettuce, roasted red pepper mayo, toasted multigrain. Ham, smoked sharp cheddar, aioli, lettuce and tomato on toasted multigrain. In my opinion, the bread can make or break a sandwich, and Starving Artists uses really good breads. Each day, Starving Artists offers a special dessert for about $3. On my most recent visit, the special dessert was a delicious pineapple cheesecake. For me, the icing on the delicious Starving Artists cake is that they always have excellent, freshly brewed, unsweetened iced tea. Starving Artists is a treasure: I'll be there again and again.

This place is cramped and has limited hours. Been once for lunch as a friend swore by this place and loved it. I'm convinced her mom never made her a sandwich before in her life, as the sandwiches my friends and I ordered were literally something you could make yourself at home. The staff was friendly, but $6 for a sandwich that didn't really stand out is too much for me!

The food was fresh and plenty good enough for a small sandwich type place plus fast service and reasonable prices. Would come again but can't say it blew me away

These are the best sandwiches in louisville. Hands down. Pair that with friendly service. You're going to have a good experience. I just wish they were open later so I could eat here more often!

This place is great! Family owned and ran. They have always been over the top nice to me. I have been eating there for over 7 years now. Always super fresh and they always have a daily special. The only kicker is, that they are open for Lunch Monday -Friday only! They close at 4p. If you in the area this is a great little place to stop in and eat. All of the food I have eaten has been wonderful!!!

This is such a little gem! The hours are only for lunch M-F but if you can get there. It's just lovely. Cute little (LITTLE) place in a strip mall that's apparently been there since 2001! Family owned and they deliver! All the sandwiches are named after famous people mostly artists and musicians. Which is hard to choose because I love Norman Rockwell and Salvador Dali. I like spicy food, so I had the Rick James. It is chicken breast with pepper jack cheese and jalapeños, Added creamy mayo and a grilled bun. Heaven! Plus i added the yummy pasta salad. Perfect to cool my mouth down. The place is cash only and super fast and friendly. Come with an appetite to this cute little place.

Ok, an update. Special of the day was $6 and I had soup as a side. Decent size serving of soup, basic and probably a mix or can but tasted good. Other soups looked far more "homemade." Sandwich was large but not huge, meat was better quality than before BUT was also ham which is easier to get a good deli cut from than pastrami IMO. Bun was nicely toasted and the tomatos were thickly cut, so bonus points there. Everything was good enough, but nothing stood out enough to make me jump to the 4 stars "Yay, I'm a fan" category. I'd return though and its a decent little place for a quick and reasonably priced lunch.

Never been treated so rudely in my life! With their attitudes they won't be around Lyndon long!!!!

Never disappointed with their soups and sandwiches but most of all their prices cannot be beat. Just discovered it a few months ago and my friends and I try to go at least once a week. You will make a big mistake passing this place up for a lunch that is satisfying over fast food junk.
