Friendly staff, good bar food. Excellent hot wings! Prices are reasonable and what you would expect at a bar & grill. My favorite is the sampler platter, it's enough to share but I'll order it as my meal, so hands off!! Haha. This is my favorite bar to watch U of L basketball, and their crowd is usually 90% or better, Cards fans! John is one of the bartenders, and he's always fun, happy, and accommodating. Theres all kinds of cool stuff on the walls and ceiling - so make sure to take a good look around!

First of all, let me tell you that this is my first time in Louisville and I've fallen in love with the place. I thought it would be this grimey old ghetto/rustbucket town but the citizens here have done a great job of preserving the old buildings and gentrifying the city. With that in mind, Spring Street Bar and Grill is one of those gentrified places. I drove by this place on the way to a client and it caught my eye. I really had to stop in and try this place after I was done with work. I came in here about 5:30 on a Tuesday and the place was a bit empty, there was myself, my coworker and maybe four or five other people. Place was of an older style and made of dark wood. They had kitschky signs and moose heads up to give it a little flair. I was surprised that they have revived Falls City and Sterling beer. I had both of those and they were cold and smooth. Menu was mostly bar food type items. They do have black bean burgers and fried dill pickles if you're vegetarian. My partner and I ordered cheese balls. My partner ordered the chicken burrito and I had that Louisville Legend, the Hot Brown with a salad. The hot brown was unusual but I thought it was tasty. It was two slices of bread topped with turkey, tomatoes, gravy, cheese and bacon. Kind of a Louisville version of "shit on a shingle". My buddy liked his burrito just fine. I love this place because of the honky tonk type atmosphere, local beers and good hot food. It would easily be a favorite if I lived near this place. But as a visitor to charming Louisville, I gotta spread myself around.

Stopped by for a beer and some good bar food and that's just what I got!! Very friendly service and reasonable prices!! A bit of a dive and not the cleanest place but I will be back!

I hate here! Every time I'm here, all I do just waiting and waiting and waiting for a damn server. And the hot brown is a disaster!

Spring Street is the perfect place for a drink with a few friends or 20. The back room is huge enough for a great intimate gathering. The service is awesome and the Turkey Burger is my favorite!

My boyfriend and I moved to Louisville three months ago and I was craving chicken wings after the move. Spring Street was the closest to our house, so we chose here. We were greeted by Jon, who introduced us to the very delicious Falls City beer and haven't stopped coming here ever since! This bar has a lot of history, which makes it even more awesome; the chicken wings are seriously THE best I have ever had. We have never gotten bad service at this dive from the bartenders, servers and cooks, they have all taken time to treat us with outstanding customer service. Do not miss out on the awesome atmosphere of this bar!

The wings were great like everyone says but the thing that stood out to me and will keep me coming back was the server Kristina. She went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and taken care of. I was able to get a lot of good travel tips and hot spots to visit while I was here in Louisville from her.

Whatever you do, don't get Brittany..she is the worst server. And definitely don't come here for the service for that matter as well. Thank goodness for the food menu that keeps ppl coming back. Stick to the classics and you MAY have an enjoyable experience. Sometimes the service is so bad even the food can't save it. 50/50 shot. Good luck.

Spring Street is one of those places in Louisville that I continue going to but know it's never going to knock me off of my feet as far as the food goes. I will say though, they always have space for games and other big events. They also have a few arcade games, a pool table and a juke box that accepts cash. :) Over the years I have frequented Spring Street mainly with a friend who lives very close by and loves watching U of L games here. That's what we were here to do most recently. We had tried a couple of different places and it was already too crowded an hour before the game even started. So...we ended up here. ha! Our server was new, but very friendly and pretty efficient considering the larger than usual crowd that was there for the game. The food is another story. Spring Street has never wooed me with any item on their menu. It is typical bar food at it's best, and not very good at it's worst. If you stick to the basics, it will satisfy your hunger and munchies. I recommend things like: pretzel and beer cheese, hot pepper cheese balls, and chips and queso. The sandwiches and entrees are not usually things I order, since I have found that sticking to the easy appetizers works out the best here at Spring Street. They have a fairly average selection of beers on tap, and you can order just about any mixed drink you can think of here. All in all Spring Street has that divey, neighborhood feel of a place that I will continue to visit on occasion. Plus, they have a parking lot, which is always a good bonus!

My boyfriend and I are huge Bloody Mary fans and are on a mission to find the best BM's in town. While the Bloody Mary here wasn't the best I've ever had, it was 2.75$ on Sunday and obviously that price is hard to beat! The bartender, April, was very very nice and she made us feel right at home. I'm a Louisville newbie and my bf doesn't live here so she was happy to give us tips of fun places to go in Louisville and gave us some good winter weather recs. We didn't try any food but the drinks were great and the service was excellent so we will definitely be back.

I hadn't been to this bar for over 10 years and we have went back twice in one week. The bartender here is great and really enjoyable to chat with without beingshe's too intrusive. We have only had appetizers there (pretzel w/beer cheese & wings) both were good, nothing to write home about but we weren't disappointed. Ice cold beer and liked the atmosphere. Bathrooms were clean as was the whole establishment. I would definitely recommend it to anyone that wants to venture off of Bardstown Rd and have a quaint place to have a drink and a bite to eat.

What can you really expect. I would drink here again, but I will never eat here again. I didn't have high expectations; it's a neighborhood pub. Worst chicken noodle I've ever had; if you can even call it that. Smoked chicken salad was probably one of the biggest rip offs as far as portion size I've had anywhere, and table service was slow. Sent the soup back and was still charged for it. No thanks.

I have given this restaurant their fair share of benefit of doubt and sorry to say I have made my last visit. The food is really awful, I ordered a Reuben as did the other female in our group and I swear it was lunch meat, the bread was burned and the dressing was out of a bottle and we won't even talk about the sauerkraut, save yourself from lousy service and nasty food . If you want a local bar feel with some excellent food and excellent service, go to Big Al's Beerittaville on Mellwood you will not be disappointed.

This is a great neighborhood bar and after-work drinking spot. Good drink specials, and a comfy atmosphere. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to go get some good bar food. I've been on a personal quest to find good chicken wings in this city (Buffalo, NY is in my blood), and these are by far my favorite that I've been able to find so far. Go HOT on the wings. You'll wish you did; it's not that hot, trust me.

We were looking for a spot to get a good burger and a friend recommended this place. We sat down and were greeted right away by a server. We told her it was our first time and she proceeded to tell us about some popular items on the menu. She was very friendly. We got a couple of appetizers-- big pretzel with beer cheese and buffalo chicken bites. The chicken was really good, but the pretzel was not so good. It was hard and the beer cheese was not good at all! We ordered our burgers and they were really good. I wished you could get fries instead of their homemade chips, but I wasn't willing to pay the upcharge they wanted. Most places serve fries with burgers! Overall I think this is an OK place. We will probably end up going back just because the service was good and the burger was too! A good neighborhood bar and grill.

Great little bar to grab a beer with some friends and chow down on some amazing wings. They only come hot but you can ask for them mild (although they still have a little kick) They come out hot and crispy with amazing chunky blue cheese. April is the bartender I have met on my last visit. I like having a bartender that you can talk to and makes you feel welcome. Overall a great bar for some wings and beers with the guys (or girls in my case)

This place is a little rough around the edges but it is our FAVORITE place to get a really late night dinner or a really good drink. We head here for any and every reason. Drink specials are great, food is so-so but it is just our comfy place to hang out. The Deep Fried Cheese balls, and the potato skins are awesome, so if you go make sure to order both! The buffalo wings are HOT so be careful. Their Rattle Snakes are UNBELIEVABLE! And Ginger is the best waitress/bartender around (in my opinion)! Check it out, you may love it as much as we do!

We were headed to a concert at Headliners around the corner and were a bit pressed for time. We mentioned that as soon as we got there, and thought that if we ordered deli sandwiches, it'd only be a couple minutes. It looked as though the kitchen staff (one guy) was overwhelmed by the 5 tables that were down. It took him about 15 minutes to get some sandwiches out. And of course, the mayo I asked to omit was on the sandwich. The bartender had no sense of urgency when we ordered to "drop the check so we can go ahead and pay" and the check didn't arrive until at least 10 minutes after we were finished eating. The beer prices were great, $2.50 for many (not all) imports. I agree with the other review, the food was so-so, probably a nice place to sit and relax and have a few coldies. Definitely not the place to go if you're in a hurry. If the service was better, I'd give it a higher score, but, here we are.

Great drink prices. Fun to talk to the regulars about sports during Happy Hour- they've been at Spring Street for years and great wings.

Atmosphere is typical bar/grill type as expected. The real treats are beer selection and food. Buffalo wings with mild sauce are awesome. Fried pickles are delicious. We had the big hot ham & cheese for dinner & it was delicious. We have found our new favorite eatery

Come here for the burgers and other fried items. Reasonable beer prices and surprisingly good margaritas. Best service when sitting at the bar, not at a table. Waitresses are very friendly but a little distractable. Bartenders make good effort at being personable. Music and TVs are never blaring at you which is a welcome bonus compared to many establishments.

Great service, comfortable local pub atmosphere. I'm betting they've got a solid group of regulars that saddle up to the bar. Boyfriend had the Rocket, which he loved, I had the big guy ham sandwich which was tasty but 'piled high' was a bit of an overstatement. Fries were crisp, server was friendly and attentive, beers were cold. And moms mustard almost made up for the lack of ham. Will definitely come back.
